thinking about halloween in the wasteland since it's still undas here and this is technically still timely

while it'll be cool to still have the costumes and the trick or treating etc, i think pangangaluluwa would be cooler. that's a filipino tradition where, on oct 31st, before undas starts, people sing in front of other's houses, pretending to be souls lost in purgatory, until those inside come out to give food (usually kakanin (rice cakes; can also be made from sweet potatoes or cassava)) that could be brought back to the land of the dead. it's much more fun, builds more community, is more entertaining, and kakanin is way more filling than candy!!
