Get to Know Norah Lee Part 3

Also known as the HogLeg MC Ask Game that I reblogged today.

🎂- When is your MCs birthday and why did you pick it?

Norah was born on January 17. You just do the math on the year. I picked the date mostly for Astrology reasons. I wanted her to be an Aquarius because a lot of people that I think are really cool, talented, and attractive (specifically Jaehyun of NCT, Ren Meguro, Ryo Yoshizawa, Freddy Carter) are all Aquariuses. So why not make Norah cool and attractive? LOL

🌈- What’s your MCs favorite color and why would they love it so much?

Norah loves green because it reminds her of her favorite dress when she was a child. It was an emerald green and the fact that she's always been told that she looks good in the color, while also coincidentally getting sorted into Slytherin, is another reason why she loves it.

🕰️- What’s your MCs backstory?

Norah is the daughter of squibs. Both parents are squibs, so naturally they thought their daughter is also a squib until her 15th birthday hit when the ancient magic abilities suddenly came in. The rest is history.

👨- What’s your MCs relationship with their father (if applicable)?

She has an okay relationship with her father, Makoto. Although she does resent him a little for not telling her all about his family and the kind of family she came from. It's also out of shame because Makoto is the only squib in his family of pureblooded wizards in Japan. But because Makoto is a prominent finance man in the muggle world, he doesn't get to spend time with her but he does support her in whatever she does.

👩- What’s your MCs relationship with their mother (if applicable)?

Similar to her father, Norah has an okay relationship with her mother Judy. Judy isn't as ashamed of her being a squib, although there is some resentment there as well from both sides - Norah not knowing where she comes from, and Judy for not having a magical ability like her own daughter. Still, that doesn't stop Judy from expressing her support in whatever way she can. And because Judy also works in finance (this is a modern day HC), she also tries to spend time with Norah as much as she can despite her busy schedule.

👫- Does your MC have siblings and how do they get along?

Norah Lee is an only child. In recent years, when she meets Naru Hiiragi, who turns out to be her paternal cousin, he becomes somewhat of a sibling to her rather than just a relative. He teaches her protego diabolica after all.

🧓- What’s your MCs relationship with their grandparents (if applicable)?

I've kind of fleshed out Norah's relationship with her father's side in a post somewhere. But she doesn't have much of a relationship with them given that she's never met them until one time in her life, she's already married to Ominis, and they needed to go to Japan for a will reading.

🥰- Does your MC have a partner and if so what are they like together?

Norah's partner is none other than Ominis Gaunt himself. The two of them together are calm. Even when they have some disagreements, Norah and Ominis manage to never raise their voices at each other. But if you read Yule Balls and Old Foes, it took a helluva lot of time for them to become more than friends in a span of two years.

🫣- What is your MCs biggest regret?

Not protecting Lodgok and not saving Professor Fig when she could've easily summoned him away from the falling stone slabs.

👨‍⚖️- What is your MCs opinion on the Ministry?

She has a neutral opinion of the Ministry. She doesn't particularly like a certain sub-section of the Ministry a.k.a the police because of Officer Singer. But she also knows they exist for a good reason and that there are still good apples in the bunch.

🐉- Is your MC good with beasts?

She is. She's given human names to the beasts out of amusement. But she does call the Lord of the Shore, His Lordship. But don't count on Norah to be on a mission to solely save beasts, though.

🌾- Is your MC good at Herbology?

Norah's okay with Herbology.

📚- What is your MCs favorite subject?

Charms. She's always up for learning new spells. Potions comes a close second because Professor Sharp happened to teach her two most favorite spells when in combat.

🧑‍💼- What is your MCs adult job?

Spoiler ahead for Yule Balls!

Believe it or not, Norah has chosen to be a shop owner in Hogsmeade alongside Ominis. She knows Ominis has also wanted to work at a pub in Hogsmeade, but because he faked his death to live his life with Norah, he chose to help her and Penny run the shop. It's full of knick-knacks and she also supplies merchants and potioneers with acromantula and spider venom.

But she joins Caleb in his private investigator work from time to time.

👁️- What does your MC value on life?

She values her friendships as well as love. But most of all, she prioritizes the community that she found herself belonging in.

👯- In their group of friends, what role do they play in their lives? If not applicable, in general what role do they play around others?

I wrote about this in Yule Balls! Norah's a part-time match-maker, full-time hypewoman.

😈- What would you say your MCs morality is like?

I think Norah's the type to be like "you do you unless you're hurting others."

🧑‍🏫- Who is your MCs favorite teacher?

Professor Aesop Sharp. He's so done with her, but she finds it so funny when she bothers him.

😎- Who inspires your MC to be better?

Everyone. Especially her friends. They've all taught her important things.

��- What accomplishments is your MC most proud of?

Rescuing the phoenix.

👀- What is your MC like behind closed doors?

She's anxious and quiet. She tends to spiral into a cycle of overthinking.

😵‍💫- What is your MC like drunk?

She's a tad spicy in a sense that when she got tipsy for the first time in Hogsmeade with Garreth, she allowed him to kiss her. That would become sort of a foreshadowing of what would be a spicy friendship later on in seventh year.

😵- If your MC suddenly died, how would their loved ones and friends react?

If Norah died, aside from her parents being beside themselves with grief, Sebastian, Ominis, and Natty might feel the impacts of this the most because they've all lost important people in their lives, and Norah's become one of those.

📖- Do you have any non-MC characters, and if so, tell me about them!

Yes! I have three more, and with Norah, they make up my quartet. One in each house.

Adele Kang - Gryffindor. The jock. Quidditch team captain. Held the best flying times before Imelda beat her (she's also her biggest rival before Norah came along). Ends up with Sebastian.

Henry Abbott - Ravenclaw. Comes from THE Abbott family. Prefect. The Hot One. Intelligent. Eventual Head Boy. Been dating Natty since sixth year.

Caleb Revri - Hufflepuff. The Artsy one. Reads obscure wizarding magazines and listens to Erik Satie. Dresses like an Ashwinder and unfortunately gets mistaken for one outside Hogwarts.

👜- What is your MCs most prized possession?

Her wand!

🦇- How does your MCs powers- be that Ancient Magic or otherwise- affect their day to day life?

It doesn't, although she's afraid of invoking it when Lucan decides to have her go in Crossed Wands again.

🦋- Does Ancient Magic work differently for your MC then in the game?

Not really. I haven't thought of it that way.

🍴- What is your MCs favorite foods?

Bangers and mash! With pumpkin pasties as a sweet treat. Fizzing whizzbees too.

👑- Is your MC an enjoyer of fancier, finer things, or do they enjoy simpler things?

Both. She grew up in Mayfair, so she knows what it's like to be fancy. But in the wizarding world, she likes to keep it simple.

🎅- What is your MCs favorite holiday?

February 14 - Valentines Day March 14 - White Day April 14 - Black Day

👰‍♀️- (if applicable) what was your MCs wedding like?

It was a very intimate affair. Norah and Ominis got married at her parents' country house in the spring. Friends, immediate family, and even some of her professors were in attendance. Ominis strictly did not invite his own family for obvious reasons.

😭- Most traumatic thing for your MC?

When Professor Fig died. The whole Ranrok ordeal, to be honest.

��- Does your MC have “rizz”?

She does. That's why a lot of people fancy her.

😶‍��️- Is your MC secretive, and if so, what is their biggest secret?

Yes and no. For the things I mentioned earlier.

🤡- What is your MCs boggart or biggest fear?

Norah's boggart takes the form of Professor Fig. She's haunted by the memory of them in the caverns so she feels like it's her fault that he died.

👾- In modern day, what would your MC be like?

(Her parents are in) finance, (so Norah has a) trust fund, (she's not) 6'5 (nor does she have) blue eyes.

💫- What is your MCs zodiac signs?

Aquarius!

♟️- Is your MC calculated?

Yes and no.

🗡️- What would it take for your MC to betray their closest loved one or allies- if at all?

It would take a loooooot. Like if they hurt her so badly, that's probably when she'd consider it. But I don't think she ever will.

🪁- What hobbies does your MC practice?

Flying, reading murder mystery books.

🏆- What is your MCs biggest goal?

To live a simple life and to practice magic to do some good.

🧸- What was your MCs childhood like?

Very sheltered. She did grow up amongst the super privileged, so she was a fancy child.

🩸- What is your MCs opinion on blood status?

She doesn't like it. She didn't think it was an actual thing until she came to Hogwarts and got to know Ominis.

🥀- What is your MCs biggest heartbreak?

Ominis, initially, not wanting to pursue any relationship out of vowing to end his family's legacy.

💀- What is your MCs opinion on the Dark Arts?

She originally didn't see a problem with using it unless absolutely necessary at first, but now she mostly avoids it.

💅- How fashionable is your MC?

She's alright. It's really her parents that kind of insist she wear the latest things. But she still keeps things simple. In the modern day, she'd be an example of quiet luxury.

👳- Is your MC accident prone?

Not as much as Sebastian.

🗣️- Is your MC charismatic?

I guess?

🫦- Is your MC attractive to other characters?

Yep! She's fancied by a lot.

🚬- Does your MC have bad habits, or how is their mental health?

Kinda terrible mental health. She has a tendency to isolate a lot when things aren't going well. She has trouble asking for help. She's quite a people-pleaser especially after getting branded the Hero of Hogwarts.

Total Vocal 2018 — a cappella concert

Beginning in 2015, a cappella legend Deke Sharon has hosted an annual concert each spring in collaboration with Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY). The hundreds of performers for Total Vocal include a combination of professional singers, student groups, and community groups of all ages from around the world.

For the fourth year in 2018, the featured artists were VoicePlay; Matt Sallee, who had just joined Pentatonix; Shelley Regner from the Pitch Perfect movies and the newly formed DCappella; and the Shemesh Quartet, a choral ensemble made up of opera students from the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City.

The show was livestreamed via Facebook for the first time in its history, and the recording was later uploaded to YouTube in two parts.
