Perpetua just called the first 3 his Uncles, in line with what the Sister Imperator comic seems to be leading to, and with the thing Tobias said in that one interview where he talks about each Papa where he called Nihil the sibling to the first 3. Thoughts? Cause I'm losing my mind😭

So, short answer short: I don't like this retcon if it's a retcon.

Long answer long:

Personally, I won't be truly convinced that this is a true retcon until either the comics confirm it or a chapter video confirms it. Because the chapters (and that one promotional vid of Sister and Nihil) are very clear about the Papa's being Nihil's progeny.

And did I misread the comics? :'0 Or does anyone want to discuss them real quick here? Because I got the impression that the members of the circus weren't literally sisters and brothers by blood, but a family in a found family sense. I could be mistaken, though, as I only read it once, but that was my impression.

And along those lines, I don't understand where other people are saying that the comics are leading towards the Papa's being Nihil's siblings. Were they shown?

Now, if it is a real retcon.

I don't love it. I think that the lore's emphasis on age, parents, and bloodlines lends itself better to Papa I, II, and III being Nihil's son's. Sister had to make sure Nihil didn't have any older sons, so she could shove Copia into the papacy. Makes sense to me.

I've seen that some people say that they thought the ages of Primo and Nihil were an issue, but I didn't have a problem in believing that Primo was Nihhil's son. Nihil had Primo young? Primo looks older than he was? If Nihil is ~90, Primo could be ~70, idk, I was fine with this.

I know I'm compromising here, but other's have said that in the concert Perpetua only said that Papa I was his uncle :'0 So, I'm holding out hope that maybe it's just Primo that's Nihil's brother, and Tobias still just misspoke in the interview.

Idk if that would make Secondo and Terzo Nihil's sons, or Primo's sons but... idk. Idk man

At the end of the day, I recognize that Tobias can do whatever he wants with the lore, regardless of what I or anyone thinks about it.

That's why we have AU's!!

My last hyperfixation was Yugioh - a property with a confusing, convoluted, and contradictory plot. And the character I fixated on was Shadi, an immortal/ghost/alien/ man with about 5 different backstories and personalities that contradict themselves.

All that to say, I am no stranger to breaking and bending cannon for the sake of my story, and I think other people should be, too. Like, there's no shame in keeping them brothers in fics, and no fic has to be rewritten to address the change. It's just an AU now!

I am curious to see if the comics or chapter vids address it :'0 Uncles or older brothers, I guess it doesn't totally ruin the family dynamics I like.
