hey folks who interact with creative works online! just a tiny PSA
If you don't like a character, that's totally fine! If you have a different reading of a situation in a show & have issues with stuff that's going on, that's also fine.
What is NOT fine is to ACTIVELY SEEK OUT fans of the characters you don't like and talk shit about them, the characters they have feelings about, or the content they've posted b/c you, Freddy McHatesalot really needs to tell everyone how much you dislike a...fictional character.
You are totally welcome to consume content in your own space in whatever way you see fit. It is disrespectful of the fandom space to try to drag other people into your space and interact with you if they don't want to. And dunking on a character in writings or art of them is fucking rude as hell to the person who put work into into the creation they made out of some feelings they were having.
Also. side note, it is possible to enjoy a character who is Wrong About Some Things or Isn't Doing The Right Stuff In The Right Situation. Sometimes it's possible to like a character and disagree with them, and shitting on people b/c you can't see what they see in a character is pretty trash garbage and is 90% of why I just make silly little art for me and my own silly feels and hope folks get a chuckle or some enjoyment out of it too.

My Ghosted review that no one asked for. Spoilers below the cut.
Tumblr media
TLDR: I gave it a C-. Overall it fell kinda flat. Cameos are the best part. Didn't believe the relationship between the leads. CGI was eh. Way too long, should have been 75-90 minutes tops.
The good:
The banter between Sadie and Cole was well-written and cute. I love the initial dynamic and the way it was set up. Cole's sister was one of the few voices of reason. The music was perfect. Chris's hair earned this movie an additional point. The humor usually landed more than it missed.
The. Cameos. The way they revealed everyone, their dialogue, and how it all played out was hilarious. The guys were perfect. I've already rewatched those scenes a good five times now.
Honestly, I would rather see the BTS footage of Anthony, Seb and Chris than rewatch the movie. I am biased but Seb definitely stole the show when he was on camera.
I loved how they handled Cole's creepy behavior. The constant call-outs from his sister to literal strangers to Sadie herself was a good choice (even though it never felt like Cole was truly listening).
The bad:
This movie was too long. They could have easily knocked off 10-20 minutes and tightened up the script. There were several unnecessary scenes that dragged on for too long. Most of the CGI was too obvious and distracted from the action scenes. Some of the dialogue during the more serious moments was awkward.
The character development was lacking. I didn't get the sense that Cole wouldn't stop being such a needy guy or that Sadie wouldn't always put her job first. And for a movie that was way too long, they didn't spend enough time developing the relationship between Cole and Sadie.
There was a lot of telling and not enough showing.
They kept saying there was chemistry but I didn't feel the chemistry. (Their characters in Knives Out had more sparks between them and let's not talk about that awkward first kiss). They had several missed opportunities to showcase the growing relationship between the two leads and instead opted to do more action scenes.
Also, some of the transitions did not make sense and I remember looking at the screen and saying 'How did yall go from point A to point B? and 'oh so you're not going to explain how you ended up there...cool cool.'
For a supposed high-stakes mission, it was underwhelming. I didn't care if the big bad got the Aztec (also introducing a second big bad so late in a movie isn't a good idea unless there is some sort of in-joke that makes it worthwhile). It was every 'device, chip, missile, nuclear code' that can take out the earth, moon, and sun that we've seen dozens of times.
Overall:
The movie was going for action-rom-com and it fell short. Which is a shame because I love all the actors. A better script, improved CGI and a little more chemistry between the leads would have elevated this movie. It's a forgettable movie and I think our fanfictions are going to be a thousand times better than what was given to us.
It was still fun overall because I had low expectations. I'd give it a C-. I think its worth a watch if you're a huge fan of Chris or Ana but don't feel like you're missing out on anything if you choose to skip it. They both have better films out there.
Or just find the cameo scenes because they were the best parts imo.
