Finally watching crystallized because i heard there's an episode about the ice emperor only for it to be another "haha zane is a robot who malfunctions sometimes!" Joke made out of one of the most traumatizing things to happen tona ninjago character is crazy. It's confirmed his greatest fear is losing his humanity and being seen as just a robot, so why do the writers AND fandom treat him like he's just chatgpt with ice powers? Why do all the other ninja get SO much development and story and episodes about what happened to them, but Zane is left with a few scraps and "beep boop hes a robot, please laugh" while Kai gets his 100th episode about himself? There are literally only a few episodes where Zane actually has a momment where the writers dig into him, and one of them it was meant to be a joke!! He got like a minute of an episode where we could actually think "wait all the horrors this lego has been through might've actually done something to him," and it's played off as another robot joke, once in "Whydly Inappropriate" and the other in "Return of the Ice Emperor", and theres probably more im forgetting about! The writers were actually on a good streak of fleshing out Zanes character in seasons 1-5, but something happened when season 6 started and they thought the only way to make people like Zane as a character was to use him for corny robot jokes! He literally had, like what, 10 minutes of screentime max in Prime Empire? The only episode he mattered in was just a big robot joke (i love confidential, its funny. it's just ARHGHGH GIVE HIM SOMETHING) and the episode where he's used for the gate. SO MUCH happened to him in season 11. I dont understand why in Return of the Ice Emperor they couldn't dig into that at least a little!
Rant over. SIGHHHHH STUPID GAY LEGO

I'm so glad you enjoyed the teasers, I'm very excited to see your reactions to everything that will happen hehe
This season is amazing imo, but unfortunately it's quite rushed. The last episode of this season I'd the 100th episode of Ninjago (counting the pilots). The writers wanted this to be the 100 ep special so it's very fast-paced, but honestly, other than that I have zero complaints, it's one of my favourites!! I hope you'll enjoy it
Ok. So, I'm thinking back to the teasers that were sent to me earlier today (thank you, again, @lori-the-dragon-ninja and @zeeboomblebee for arranging that between the two of you 💜). And I'm pretty sure I have a coherent understanding of what each of those teaser posters mean.
Each of the characters has something going on this season. And each of those somethings are going to feed into the bigger plot of the oni coming and taking over Ninjago.
Jay is planning on proposing to Nya. That's a pretty obvious thing and wasn't outright stated in the episode, but it's pretty clear that that's what he's planning on doing. I'm going to assume he'll have some failed attempts throughout the season, before he manages to ask her when things calm down again.
Garmadon is struggling to decide which side he was on. This is another pretty obvious one. It's the only 1 I'm 100% absolutely certain of. He's going to be torn between the oni and his family. I'm not willing to bet that he'll sacrifice everything for his family again, though. At least, not at first. Something is going to happen to Lloyd to absolutely turn him against the oni.
Kai... I'm still not sure on. Maybe this feeds back in to the early seasons with having to protect Lloyd? Just so he could fulfill his destiny as the green ninja? Like, he can't sacrifice Lloyd's safety just to save one of the others.
Wu is going to give up being a master this season. Whether it is on his own volition or bc of something that happens to one of the ninja, I don't know. But he has to prepare for this to be the end of his time as a ninja and spinjitzu master.
Zane is going to have to say goodbye to Pixal. Most likely in the middle of a battle. He's going to be dealing with the grief of losing one more person he's loved.
Pixal is going to be left behind in battle or sacrifice herself to save the others. She is going to be left behind in the darkness brought by the oni, and she is going to have to fight to survive. And the ninja will lose her forever.
Nya's mistake is going to cost the loss of a friend. And that friend will be Pixal. She's going to make a call, a bad one, and they'll end up losing all contact with Pixal.
They're going to lose Cole to the darkness. Either he will literally or figuratively fall into it, and the others will have to fight him to save Ninjago. Maybe that is how they also lose Pixal? Is in a fight with him? I'm not sure.
Lloyd is going to die. That's... Whenever I hear or see something about someone going into the light or something along those lines, that's immediately where my mind goes. I'm not sure how he's going to die, only that it's going to happen.
Ok, going to take a pause here and get a walk in with my dog before people start setting off fireworks (again). I'll be back in about an hour for 1 more episode tonight. Be back soon!

Is that scene from a happy little special in the lines of DotD... or part of Season 10 where the Masters are butting heads on how to deal with a large scale demon attack on Ninjago? I hope it's the former, considering the tone XD

Coincidental Encounter (Ninjago Kai X Reader) The Fall Of The Ninja AU
Please note that this is a miniseries that will be somewhat episodic so as to not stress me out too much as opposed to an actual fanfiction. And with that being said, you can read the oneshots out of order if you want to but it’s preferred if you read it in order for a bit more understanding.
You can find the miniseries oneshots in order here: not made yet.
And if you’d like to know this AU a little better, here’s the outline I wrote up for some of the main characters: Here you are.
I hope you enjoy this little series! :D
Spoilers to Ninjago Season 1-10.
Ninjago City. A city one full of light and energy. Now it was full of melancholy and grey clouds hovering over it. It started when the guardians of Ninjago, the Ninja broke apart for unknown reasons a year ago, most of them disappearing. Because they broke apart, the balance of light and dark shifted into a grey area.
No matter what anyone did to try and restore the balance, it always remained grey. On the plus side, because of the shift there haven't been a lot of villains terrorizing Ninjago City.
You groan in defeat as you stare at all of your failed plans to bring balance back to Ninjago as the patrons of Laughy's mutter amongst themselves and drink their Boba. Dareth, the owner of Laughy's noticed your distress and approached you for what felt like the 100th time.
"Heya Y/N, another plan failed?" You groan again.
"Don't remind me," You mutter as Dareth sets your favorite drink in front of you.
"Look, I appreciate you trying to bring back balance or whatever. But if the brown ninja can't do it, what makes you think you can?" He was genuine and was trying to help in the Dareth way but honestly, it annoyed you.
"He said for the 100th time," You mutter sarcastically, Dareth frowned from that response. You sigh.
"Look, someone has to do it right? If the Mayor, police or even the Brown Ninja aren't gonna do it, then I am," You grab the drink and chug it til it's empty, placing it down onto the table again taking deep breaths.
"Thank you," You collect all your failed plans and leave Laughy's determined. Dareth smiled, happy to have reignited your determination.
"Once again the Brown Ninja saves the da-" He's cut off by a Patron.
"Hey 'Brown Ninja,' can I get a refill over here?"
"Yes sir, right away sir," He quickly returns to work mode and gives the patron his drink.
_____________________
You made your way to the park where they made the statue of Zane after defeating the Overlord 2.0. You sit down on the bench and looked at the Wu Statue next to it.
Out of all the citizens that took the Ninja's disappearance the most was Master Wu and of course their families. Wu was absolutely devastated and started wandering the streets with an empty look in his eyes. No one knew how to approach him so they left him be. He was found dead one morning, seemingly having been hit by a car and the suspect took off.
You sigh as you look at the two statues, thinking of how to possibly restore the balance… when a person in a cloak and unfinished Kitsune mask. You didn't pay them any mind, there were some odd ones in Ninjago. Like Fugi-dove.
You give them a polite nod and continue thinking of ways to restore balance. Unbeknownst to you, the person was looking at all the attempts to restore balance that sat beside them. They were honestly impressed by the dedication and determination. And so, they open their mouth to speak.
"What's all this?" You were surprised by the hoarse voice that spoke up, almost as if they rarely used it.
"O-Oh! Just something I've been working on for the past year," They nod and look at the pile of plans.
"May I?" You nod.
"Sure, knock yourself out," They pick up the plans and carefully examine them. You both sat quietly doing your own thing until it started to rain, just a light sprinkle. You let out a hand and let some drops fall into your hand.
"Hmm, how fitting," You comment, the person handing you the plans so you can put them in your bag.
"Very…" They whisper. You both sit in the rain for a few moments before you speak up.
"What's your name stranger?" They huff.
"Doesn't matter," You smirk, knowing your response immediately.
"Hello 'doesn't matter,' I'm Y/N," A surprised noise unexpectedly comes out of them, turning their mask towards you.
"That… was awful," You smile at their attempt to hide their amusement.
"Eh, still gotta try to bring some light in this world, even if it is a corny dad joke," That answer surprised them. And in the first time in a while-
-They smiled behind the mask.
_______
That joke and that smile tipped the balance toward light again, this stirred something deep within the core of Ninjago, something that's been building over the years of its existence.
Something made of the purest dark emotion in the world.

Theory: “The End” at the end of Season 10 wasn’t just for the end of the Oni and Dragons saga, but for the end of the first original Ninjago.
Tumblr media
The Teletoon ad calls the new who-knows-what-it-is-Tommy-pls-say-something a new series. The set boxes no longer use the “Masters of Spinjitzu” subtitle.
Tumblr media
They made a big deal of Ninjago: March of the Oni technically featuring the 100th episode even though it didn’t have the numerical 100th episode. So, what if the reason they did that, was because the episode numbers would be reset?
This isn’t Season 11.. it’s Season 1 of a new series! A new animation style, an apparently more comedic tone, and a new episode length. Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is done. It has been succeeded by: Ninjago. ..kind of basic, but uh.. yeah.
Would’ve been really nice to know this sooner than.. two weeks before it releases (the promo was deleted from Teletoon’s YouTube, so it’s possible this was revealed earlier than it was supposed to (i.e. by LEGO), and Tommy or Bragi Schut aren’t legally able to talk about it yet, but it’d be really great to hear something soon)

My thoughts on Ninjago Se10
Honestly Ninjago season ten wasn’t as emotional as season 8 and 9; regardless, I applaud the decisions made in its creation. It felt like it had perfect harmony with Ninjago’s long history. The 100th episode, “Endings” gave a sense of closure to Ninjago, which often felt like it suffered from endlessness- well now it has it. As a certain character would say it was built on beauty and harmony, not power.

📃💔 💎 💢for either or both!!!!
THANK YOU fuck yes it's time. thank you :)
📃: what's the plot of your hyperfix?
ninjago is a kid's lego promotional tv show about six ninja who do lego flips, they're the saviors of the world that is called ninjago and they do different shit each season but usually it's something along the lines of saving the world.
ok so gossip girl. the main gist is that there's a group of really really rich kids living in the upper east side of manhattan and their lives are documented by a mysterious blog called gossip girl. drama through and through, these kids consistently hate each other most of the time also georgina's... there.
💔: tell us about your LEAST favorite character and why you don't like them.
in ninjago, my least favorite character is misako. she abandoned her kid (lloyd) at a young age and only came back in his life to cheat on his dad with his uncle. she's consistently useless and most of her lines sound very patronizing towards lloyd and legitimately she's trash. season two was starting out so strong then she was introduced and it went WAY downhill. die misako die
my least faves are a bit inconsistent in gg but i gotta say jenny. she's constantly striving for popularity and pushing down everyone in her life and she literally started drug dealing just to piss off her dad. i could talk more about her but she's just cringe cringe cringe she's written horribly awfully
💎: any fun facts you want to share?
i don't know too many fun facts about ninjago surprisingly but ninjago shares a lot of english voice actors with both death note and gintama. another fun fact is that lloyd's new voice actor (s8+) is a professional singer but he said that he'd never sing in the show as lloyd so what's the point anymore
my favorite fun facts about glee are all more or less about chace crawford because i think he's an interesting creature to study. penn badgley said in an interview that it was the most fun to shoot with chace because they would crack jokes on set together all the time, chace also went on to say that he had no clue who gossip girl was until the filming of the final episode, and he went onto play another rich douchebag type character in the 100th episode of glee. also before they were set on dan, eric and nate were candidates to be gossip girl
💢: what do you not like about your hyperfix/what would you change?
with ninjago, i've made sort of a brand for myself pointing out the flaws of ninjago, but overall the worst problem i have with it is how similar characters are written. it comes off the worst with cole and kai where you literally cannot differentiate between the two of their lines because they're written way too similarly and it's just sad to see.
gossip girl... a lot, but mostly chuck's character in s1/early s2. he's a character who pulls a total 180 but the first season does absolutely nothing towards his change towards the good side and it's sad to see. i really think the writers did chuck dirty where they portrayed him one way for a good chunk of season 1 and then decided "nah we're gonna have him be the good guy now" and pulled the rug out from under the viewers and it's so sloppy and lazy, and especially annoying when chuck is a character that gets a lot of screentime and emotional focus later on. they could've done him so much better and it pisses me off

Just to add to this, bc I meant to make an ask earlier when I remembered lol, in case no one has mentioned it, the reason this season is rather unusually short (with only four eps) is because the season finale marks the 100th episode of Ninjago (when you include the first two pilot episodes). Pretty big milestone lol, and I guess the writers wanted to round out this soft ending for the show by finishing it with the 10th season and 100th episode.
Just a heads up, this season is the ending of Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu 🥲 This is the big finale.
BUT there is a continuation, the series was rebranded to just "Ninjago" and moved to a different studio. The plot simply continues where we left off in this season, so it's practically just a continuation.
There will be some big changes coming next season because of this. The animation style will change, the writers, the episode run time too (the episodes will be 11 minutes long), slight design change, and a really big tone change. The next season is more lighthearted (... at the beginning) and aimed towards a younger audience, which is a big shock after the oni trilogy 😭
So when this ends and you see "THE END" afterwards... don't worry this series won't go down that easily hehe (I cried in 2019 cus I had no clue they were making more)
Thank you!
I think I remember 1 or 2 people mentioning this to me, but this was a good reminder to make sure I have access to it (I do).
Might be good for my soul for a lighthearted start after this season 🙃 I can bet that was a big shock to everyone after the Oni Trilogy.
Awe, hugs to your past self. It always hurts when a series ends and you have no idea that they're making more.

Low-key worried that the LEGO Ninjago Movie’s lack of success (this is the nicest way I can put it, however you feel about it, it’s still not as close to making its budget back as the previous ones, and far below most sites predictions) will negatively impact Ninjago as a whole. A week before the movie came out, all seemed well in the world of Ninjago, but now? All that “Ninjago will last to 2021” and “Evergreen theme” stuff from a while back seems like counting chickens before they hatched in retrospect.
A lot was riding on the movie. They redesigned the ninja for new viewers that were expected. But, like.. the movie didn’t do well enough that a large enough number of people to justify it can be expected at this point. It may only serve to alienate current fans. I’ve got a theory: one month ago, Tommy Andreessen said he “hoped” there would be a tenth season. They’ve written the final draft of Season 9’s final episode.. but they don’t know if there will be a tenth season. So, I’m thinking that LEGO continuing the Ninjago line might be dependent on the movie’s success? I dunno, it’s just a theory, a Tumblr theory, but maybe not be too hopeful for dat 100th episode.. I dunno tbh, before I figured the movie would solidify Ninjago as a brand for years to come. A sequel is definitely unlikely.
