Idek what else to say at this point: the relationships (platonic/romantic) in fangs of fortune are SO GOOD

I’ll start off with my fave: baijiu x zhuo yichen. There is something so tragically beautiful about how zhuo yichen lost his older brother and got a younger brother in baijiu. He looked up to his older brother, and baijiu looks up to him. He is slowly learning how to be that older brother that was taken away from him

zhuo yichen x zhuyan: supposedly sworn blood enemies with a blood feud but exudes an immensely enemy to lovers 100k fic vibe. the bickering?? The fighting?? Lowk flirting?? They CONSTANTLY PICK ON EACH OTHER. don’t get me started on how zhuo yichen will have to kill zhuyan later on because of that blood feud.

lilun x zhuyan: ??? lilun is literally that bitter ex??? Jokes aside, the downfall of their relationship makes me cry. Their story is so lovers to enemies coded. It’s the never ending hounding from lilun, and zhuyan doesn’t help because he knows everything that has to do with lilun

pei sijing x wen xiao: why are they so cute together! cold grumpy & quiet x sweet warm & plucky,, they deserve more screen time! All their scenes with each other are so heartwarming tbh. No one talks about the scene where wen xiao writes on sijing’s palm to calm her down.

baijiu x yinglei: the brothers we never knew we needed. They’re so mischievous together I LOVE THEM

ofc wen xiao x zhuyan: are they besties?? a couple of besties??? Idek. If this drama is trying to pass off as het, this main cp isn’t too convincing for me but they’re cute! Would rather them be besties

zhuo yichen x wen xiao: literally the best protective younger brother and older sister duo

zhuyan x baijiu: nothing like a 30000 year old demon scaring the shit out of a 13 year old while also clearly harbouring good intentions, gentleness and care toward him.

And I really love qing geng x fei! I bawled my eyes out at their story

What if...

After the events during Zhu Yan's rampage under the Blood Moon and Zhuo Yichen lost his family and clansmen he was too consumed by hatred and devastated by grief

He was preyed upon by Cheng Huang, but instead of turning him into one of his puppets, he turns him into a snake demon instead so he can fulfill his wish to avenge his family

Yunguang Sword rejects and denounces ZYC because he's no longer worthy, it even burns him if he tries to touch it

So he uses poison, his fangs, demon strength and his snakes to kill instead

On the other side, Pei Siheng still seeks CH for help and he is still slain by Pei Sijing, instead of bearing the guilt she goes mad and goes on a demon killing rampage

CH sees what a good killing machine she is and wants her to help him kill humans instead so he can harvest their souls to further his schemes.

CH doesn't tell her that PSH has become his puppet and can't die from a mortal wound so he can manipulate her

Tells her he knows a lonely young man who needs a big sister's protection and love, turns her into a snake demon as well

Introduces ZYC to PSJ "From this day forward, this is your jiejie. Be a good didi and show her our ways."

They become known as the snake siblings that terrorize the humans world, seducing humans with their beauty and tricking them with their ruthless cunning acts, then poisoning them

but they end up breaking away from CH and no longer works for him, truly embracing their demonic side

not at them revealing to us in rapid continuation that a) wen xiao has had frequent nightmares ever since her master died and b) zhuo yichen haven't been able to dream ever since his brother got him one of ran yi's scales when he was under fourteen.

aka thinking about the times they've spent together healing each other's wounds and handling their grief and: zhuo yichen has had to watch wen xiao suffer from her nightmares while being unable to dream himself, probably hoping he could help wen xiao by taking away her dreams, too. meanwhile, wen xiao has seen zhuo yichen lose himself into the fact that he considers the waking world an endless nightmare he's stuck in while wen xiao either prefers being awake or is at least sometimes able to escape into nicer, happier dreams while asleep.
