I'm a transgender boy i use the term demi-boy more as a side label/umbrella term since I also identify with xenogenders and am also questioning being boyflux but mostly I’m just a boy so refer to me as such.

i use he/him pronouns along with any and all neos (besides like offensive ones like slurs and stuff those are icky) but I much prefer he/him I still use neos but would prefer to be referred to as he/him majority of the time and I use masc terms

If you didn’t know me and have referred to me as something else that’s totally fine just please try and use the correct pronouns and terms from now on!!! ^^

i use a lot of labels for my sexuality since it’s really complicated but basically I'm aroace oriented and omniromantic + i use biromantic as a umbrella term. I'm ambiamorous which means I'm open to polyamory and monoamory relationships.

[**Explaining how one can be aroace and biromantic to those who r confused: aroace is a spectrum aroace is a wide umbrella term you could have absolutely no romantic and sexual attraction or you could have them for ppl you have a emotional bond with already it’s a wide range of identities and the official definition is “little to no sexual and romantic attraction” I personally have a very hard time with experiencing romantic attraction (I’m not to be going into my personal sexual attraction I’m a minor) but I do have other forms of attraction like aesthetic attraction and physical/sensual attraction. Aroace oriented is a specific label for aroace ppl that identify as both aroace and other label for their sexuality. Sorry if this is confusing or phased wrong I tried to explain it to the best of my knowledge and ability in a somewhat short paragraph**]

I use tone tags sometimes especially with ppl idk just because I like controlling how ppl take what I say but i don’t need you to use them some ppl need others to use them due to not being able to pick up on social cues or other reasons that’s not the case I just use them to clarify what I’m saying if you want me to use them with you regularly because you need them to understand me better lmk Im happy to use them more with you specifically I just need to be told ^^

I'll talk about my mental health since I do occasionally post things about my mental health- so basically i have depression and unspecified anxiety disorder professionally diagnosed though my therapist has suggested that the unspecified anxiety disorder is probably both general and social anxiety but I don’t have those officially w. also professionally diagnosed OCD (<- most recent diagnosis lolz) I also have dyslexia and Dysgraphia so if theres any spelling or grammar mistakes in this please be patient.

eugh and I am STILL struggling with what to do with fandoms on this tumblr

I know that everyone reblogs that post about how if your moot changes fandoms that's a-okay and you'll either accept or block this new spamming of some random character you've never heard of before. But I can't help feeling a bit bad about it.

TBH secretly, and I feel rly bad about it, but... I actually don't like it when people spam stuff I don't know anything about on tumblr. (Or reblogging the same post 5 times. Sorry.) It's just... empty clutter on my dash, which I too often use as a sorta dopamine IV for if I'm in desperate need of brain stimulation. (Not as much as I used to but still.)

But maybe that's just because I'm too hesitant to block tags. I'm finally starting to block fandom tags now and like at first I felt really bad like 'of all the fandoms you chose to block, that one?!' but now that I've done a few it's easier. It's not that I hate to see it it's just it interrupts my dashboard's flow.

But also just. I really do think that compared to most people the fandoms I go between tend to vary REALLY widely. Most people will go from e.g. fantasy video game fandom 1 to fantasy video game fandom 2 or whatever and there's a good chance fans of one will like the latter. And I know this sounds very 'I'm so quirky lolz' but just. objectively. I am pretty sure that Star Trek TOS -> Homestuck -> Little Busters! -> Supernatural -> American Revolution RPF -> Ensemble Stars! -> Fire Emblem (especially Genealogy of the Holy War) is. an unusual list of Main Fandoms.

And partly that is my brain's inherent craving for novelty. I *need* a certain level of Different Things, vaguely defined. Which explains why I tend to gravitate towards fandoms with a lot of different quirky characters (like Homestuck, Ensemble Stars! etc.) or Visual Novels, where each route registers as a Different Story in my brain so it's like I get five Different Things for one.

So I'll have, like. ONE fantasy game I play. But then I need to mix it up with other really different things. So I can get a multitude of vibes. Same thing with my fanfic: I'm constantly trying new things, and can't really get motivated to write something unless I feel like I couldn't easily read it somewhere (thus my total lack of creative motivation while I was into Supernatural).

Anyway the point of it is. I'm just too aware that my followers are real people, who presumably followed me for something they enjoy seeing on their dash. Probably just agreeing with my opinions in general. And in general I like to reblog things that I think people will. Like. Not in a 'This'll Do Numbers' way but in a 'I like contributing positively to a community' sort of way I guess.

But it's also a matter of post type. I mind much less when people write heaps of text posts or whatever about their stuff; sometimes it's fun to see analyses even of things I know nothing about, and I can feel their passion shining through. It's much more cluttery when people do heaps of e.g. fanart reblogs without commentary.

But then that's what sends me into stasis whenever I see a post I like and want to reblog but I feel like I have to Write Something Good Enough in the tags. Which is an inherently very very silly idea I know lmao. But it was honestly a bit freeing several months (years????? timye.) ago when I allowed myself to just hit reblog with no tags at all.

IDK like look I want to just be free and make my blog filled with nice things that I like but just like with masking I can't divorce myself from the context that these are things I'm sharing with real people. And maybe it's just a loneliness in me that because my tastes are so absurdly specific and radically Different it's hard to find other people who'll really relate to more than one or two of them.

Sorry if this is kind of random, but I've always struggled with finding friends in a fandom because I get too nervous about interacting even in small ways and end up keeping all of my fandom stuff secret, like most of my tumblr reblogs are private and I don't tell anyone about my ao3. But I've recently resolved to work on that, so I'm planning on starting over with a new blog and a new ao3 handle and moving all of my fav old content to it and being more interactive going forward. But...old habits die hard, and since you're so so so kind and friendly, and you're one of those ppl who's known in their (corner of a) fandom, like other writers call you by your name and anons send you prompts/theories/feels and people just!! talk to you about your fics and stuff and!!!, I was wondering if maaaaaaybe you could give some pointers on how to "join"/integrate/idk!!! in a fandom? Sorry if this is a really weird or difficult question aaaa, anything even your own experience would be nice but it's ok if you don't want to answer. Hi there, anon!! ❤️ Omg, firstly let me say that while yes this is an unexpected ask, it is also a very welcome ask!! I can't say I've ever been asked something like this before, but I can also say I've perhaps never related to an ask more before!! I 1000% also... identify as... an anxious person (I'm tip-toeing with my wording here bc - while I have always been an anxious/nervous person, especially socially - I've also not been professionally assessed or diagnosed, which is solely my own doing, but I know that can be a dividing line with this topic sooooo I'll just say that... I believe that I can understand at least a little of how you feel) & fandom can be a very intimidating & nerve-wracking place!! Prior to starting this blog, I was only ever on the outskirts or in the background of the fandoms I was interested in -- The Blacklist was the first fandom I made an effort to actively be a part of, so I know how jumping in with little to no experience can be scary!! Also... ever since I hovered on the edge of fandom - peeking in with envious eyes at active bloggers, shippers, & content-creators - I have always wanted to be someone... well, someone exactly like you so kindly described me: someone who's known in their fandom & has a nickname & is even sent asks & I honestly can't believe it happened to me. And while this is by no means the only or best way to experience fandom, it is so gratifying & heart-warming & fulfilling to be so connected amidst a fandom community, especially a relatively small one like TBL!! BUT enough of my blabbering!! I'm probably the last person qualified to be giving the kind of advice you're asking for, but I'm more than happy to share my experience with you, anon, bc I feel like we're very similar people!! So, I'll list some bullet points below (under a cut bc we all know I never use one word when twenty will do lolz) on my thoughts on how to join/integrate in a fandom... if you'll be so kind as to take it all with a sizable grain of salt LOL 🤗

OKAY SO my first tip - bc this is what I remember doing the most in my baby!blog days - is:

Start by engaging with fandom content in whatever small way you feel comfortable with!! And the best way I found to do this?? Is the tags!! Tags are your friends!! That's literally all I did for the first few seasons of TBL after making this blog!! In my mind, the tags are kind of an optional/extra credit situation; you can leave them if you want to AND people can choose to acknowledge them or not. You can use them as a filing system, a place to leave your own thoughts or feelings (me AF lmfao), OR a dropbox for direct praise for the OP, which they will see in their notes!! Therefore, I've always found that to be the perfect, least stressful way of interacting in a fandom. That way, your perspective is there for anyone who chooses to see it, but people have that choice of whether or not to respond or follow you based on what they see. Plus, finding & engaging with the content you like helps you to follow the people who are making the content you like!! And, once you have, & don't be afraid to TELL THEM you like their content!! People love compliments, especially about things they're passionate about!! And I can tell you from personal experience that some of my best fandom friends were made over a love of each other's content!! On that note -

If you feel inspired, don't be afraid to step up & make your own content!! This will ID you as a fellow active fandom member which will attract the people you want to befriend!! Sidenote: this isn't necessarily why I started writing fanfic, but it was a delightful facet of the result!! Before I was a writer in the fandom, I simply reblogged gifsets & text posts by other talented creators & hesitantly - but slowly more enthusiastically - shared my thoughts & feelings!! And by the time I started writing, my blog was Lizzington-themed & familiar to fellow shippers... And when I became something of a content creator in the form of fanfic, that's when I think I really started getting asks, which is a whole other lovely part of fandom!! Of course, it always helps to be friendly & approachable (which you already are, clearly, just based on this sweet ask!!) & to leave your ask box open & your anons on if you're comfortable with that!! So, when you feel ready, be willing to converse & engage with people in comments & replies on your content, bc people want to bond over their favorite things!! And tbh in that way?? Fandom is sort of easier than real life, bc the awkward phase of "finding common ground" is already done!! OH & ON THAT NOTE -

Try to remember that anxiety is your worst enemy, even in fandom space!! Personally, I've always found fandom a place to let go of the anxiety that plagues me more in real life, but of course it's not that simple & anxiety can still be very present in online interactions!! But try to remember that other people want to make fandom friends too!! And reaching out to someone to try & make a friend is 99% of the time NOT going to be a bother to them. If you feel unsure about reaching out (which I often do!!), just picture being on the receiving end of your kind messages & offers of friendship!! Would you ever be annoyed at someone polite or reject someone kind or shun a fellow member of your fandom?? No!! And the odds are that like-minded people won't either!! But worst case?? They just won't answer & that's okay, too, bc you've lost nothing by trying!! 😍🥰❤️

So yeah, I don't know if this is good advice for you, my dear anon, it's literally just my own experience... but I have to say that I'm so proud of you for wanting to work on your fandom shyness!! (NOT that that's a necessity btw!! I'm a firm believer that SHY /DOES NOT/ = BAD!! Shyness is not a trait that needs to be "fixed" or "worked on" & it is not inherently better or worse than being "out-going", regardless of what the rest of the world likes to tell & show us. It is simply a different, equally good way of being that brings an essential variety to the world.) But the difference here is intent. You WANT to change your fandom experience & therefore you're going out of your way to do so, even though it's tough, & that's very brave!! Chapter One

“Amelia, rounds are in eight minutes”

Amelia Callahan isn’t too pleased to find herself sleeping in an on-call room for the fourth night in a row. No one mentioned that part of “the grind” would include never going home and everlasting exhaustion. She just wants to sleep in her own bed and to eat something other than dreary cafeteria food. Shes only further annoyed by Benjamin Cox poking her cheek until she blinks lazily at him.

“C'mon, you gotta get dressed” Benjamin tells the sleepy girl.

“I’m already in scrubs” Amelia swats his hand away.

“Clean scrubs?”

“I said I’m in scrubs” She sends him a quick, pointed glare.

Apparently showing up to rounds first still wont win you brownie points from Stephan Barnes. The interns are buzzing with excitement, it’s finally time to change rotations and Amelia is ready for the change. She is tired of Cardiology and its horrid residents. All of the residents were too focused on making her life hell rather than teaching her anything useful. Nowdays she just swerves anyone from cardio.

“Callahan, Cox and Watson you’re in the Emergency Department.” Dr.Barnes nods at them over his clipboard.

“You'v-” Emily begins to argue, but is quickly cut off.

“No whining unless you want a months worth of doing nothing but notes and discharges” Dr.Barnes sighs. “Sanders, you���re in Pediatrics.”

Amelia wants to do nothing but scream and rant about the rotations. She has worked her ass off trying to get the service she wanted, but Molly Sanders gets Pediatrics instead? Unfair and biased. While Amelia sleeps, eats, and breathes the hospital, Molly probably sucked off the attending to get her preferred service. It makes her want to rip her own hair out, if sucking a forty year olds dick is what it takes to get favoritism, shes tempted. Instead, she just huffs towards Emily and Benjamin and tries to remember that at least she has class and sophistication. Sophistication with day old scrubs and messy hair, but it still counts.

“What are you waiting for? Find your residents!” Dr. Barnes shoos the interns away.

Amelia and Emily are unhappy about the Emergency Room service, but Benjamin is absolutely ecstatic, he LOVES emergency medicine. So, while hes practically jumping out of his scrubs in excitement, the two girls take the long way to the nurses station. By the time they reach their destination, the resident is waiting patiently. She decides that he looks kind enough, maybe they’ll get off easy with him and after shes done she can nap. One could only have such high hopes.

“I get THREE of you!? What a good surprise!” The resident grins. “I’m Dr. Ryan Thompson”

“Emily Watson, Amelia Callahan, and Ben Cox.” Emily gestures to all of them.

“Nice to meet you! So, listen, usually I’d start you on papers and scut work…But we’re really backed up, so I’ve sorted some easy cases for you. Page me if needed” Dr. Thompson hands them the folders before rushing away.

“Fucking jackpot” Emily grins at her two best friends. “First ER day and we get our own cases!?”

“We’ve been blessed” Benjamin laughs loudly and agrees.

Amelias first case was an old woman with COPD, it was a simple in and out after listening to her wheezy, rattling lungs. All she needed was some albuterol and a heavy dose of steroids and then the nurses discharged her. The second case was just as routine, a child with strep. So she orders the screaming child some antibotic syrup and cough syrup then sent them on their way. So far, she was bored out of her mind. That is until Thompson drops by the nurses stations and plops another folder on her stack. She glances over the admission and nurses notes and it immediately peaks her interest. A twenty two year old with what appears to be a Traumatic Brain Injury with a persistent headache. It’s her own jackpot, something that isn’t dull and usual.

When Amelia rounds the corner to room 20a, she hears nothing but shouting and crashing from within the room. She knocks on the door once and with no response, she cracks the door open to find four boys shouting at each other. On the floor lays one of the side tables and one of the boys. The first one to notice her standing there is a tall, tan boy who just watches her with wide eyes and an “oh, shit” expression. When the other boys notice, the boy on the ground just starts laughing a high pitched giggle and turns back towards the tan boy.

“God damn it, Calum. I told you the nurses would notice” The boy huffs in between giggles.

“Sorry about the mess, I’ll clean it up!” The boy, now named Calum says quickly.

“I don’t care about the mess” Amelia sighs narrowing her eyes at the giggly boy. “But I’m not a nurse”

The boy turns slightly, face twisting in surprise as he glances at her tag. “Oh, man. I’m sorry”

“It’s cool, I get it a lot.” Amelia just shrugs. “Dr. Amelia Callahan.”

“Ashton” The boy greets. “Also, Calum, Michael, and sick boy Luke”

“Nice to know he brought support…Very loud support.” She just shakes her head. “So, Luke update me on what happened.”

“We were playing soccor and Calum accidently kicked me in the head when I tripped..Which caused me to hit my head off the pavement.”

Amelia focuses on the boy sitting crosslegged on the hospital bed, his honey brown curls falling into his face and his face blushed a soft pink as he explains the accident. His blue eyes dart from her and then to Calum, she can see that he’s nervous. She can also see the dark blue and purple mark forming across his pale forehead.

“Can I ask you a few things while I check you out?” Amelia questions.

“Uh, yeah.” Luke shrugs.

“When did this happen?” She asks while she flashes her penlight into both of his eyes. She finds one pupil is dilated while the other is not.

“About two hours ago, I’ve had a headache since” Luke squints at the bright light.

“Any other symptoms?” She observes the contusion up close, purple and blue spreading around the sight of impact. “Confusion, dizziness, nausea?”

“I’m nauseous and dizzy, but I thought that was from the headache” Luke mumbles quietly realizing it wasn't the headache at all.

“So, I believe you have a grade two concussion, which earns you some nice CT scans and a couple hours chilling here with me.” Amelia smiles at the blonde boy. “You have a contusion and anisocoria, which is the main indicator of a concussion. I’ll get you some pain meds and something for the nausea. You’ll feel brand new!”

When Amelia exits the room to go make the notes and place Luke’s orders, she isn’t expecting Benjamin waiting for her by the door. The babyfaced, brunette boy is trying to peak through the door when she notices HER charts tucked in his hands. She can feel her face blushing with anger at the sight, but he just grins at her innocently.

“What do ya need, Ben?” Amelia questions. She tries to steady her tone and not lose her temper.

“Trade me cases.” Benjamin says bluntly. His smile is devilish and mischievous.

“Uh” She shakes her head. “No”

“Why not?”

“It’s my case, Ben. You have your own” She snatches the folder back away from him.

“But it’s Luke Hemmings” Benjamin whines loudly.

“And? Stop reading my chart.” She glares at him.

“Stay out of my charts and leave Luke alone” Amelia ushers him away from the room. “I’ll kick your ass myself”

To say shes confused is an understatement. Benjamin, one of her dearest friends is fangirling over a patient. A patient that is supposedly in a band and she has no clue what band it is, has she heard of them? Will other people find out? Will she actually have to kick Bens ass to keep his fangirl ways at bay? So many questions and potential issues pop up within a matter of ten minutes. Apparently Amelia has a lot to catch up on while Luke is getting his scans done.
