Wriothesley as an extension of the Fortress itself
a living, breathing part of its organism, his heart beating in tandem with its machinery. that deep hum that's always present in his mind and lulls him to sleep at night is Meropide's ancient power coursing through his veins and he doesn't even know it, let alone understand it
he was a blank slate when he arrived, a non-person by his own choice, and so the Fortress claimed him as her own
sometimes he seems to know exactly what is happening five floors below, and inmates joke that it's some sort of magic, but they know that the Duke is simply well-informed and uses the in-built security system to keep on top of things... surely that's all there is to it
a young Wriothesley was once pursued by a handful of other inmates who wanted to kill him for a perceived slight. he ducked into the shadowed hallways of the lower levels, took turn after turn, and eventually made his way to a safe room where he could hide for the night. the next day, he learned that the other inmates never made it to their morning shifts
his footing is always sure on the walkways, he never loses his way, and he can always tell when there's something up with the machinery at first glance
sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night with the taste of copper in his mouth, and he mistakes it for a memory of blood... but every time, he gets up and he finds that something has happened that requires his attention - usually the violent kind
he doesn't think there's anything special to it all, but Sigewinne sees. Sigewinne knows. she'll cross that bridge in a few decades, when Wriothesley realizes that he's stopped aging

Death seeking creator but with Furina? Imagine the sort of things she would feel when she first heard of an "impostor", and her being the only one who kills them once and never after because of like her looking at the body in 'pity' since they would be like her (pretending to be a good they are not)
Then she realizes she killed the actual creator and then they don't appear in Fontaine for a while and the guilt is eating away at her until she finds them again and after that she tries to accommodate for them and actually try and help!
Maybe she succeeds, maybe she doesn't, it's up to you :3
YOU ARE SO RIGHT ANON. This kind of thing would REALLY mess with Furina's head honestly. Like the pure pain she already feels from her own situation, I can see her have a slightly higher opinion of "imposters" solely because she can relate not having the choice of their fate. She never expresses this to anyone though, not even Neuvillette for her thinking he would be as strict about such topics as the other archons are.
Also yes she would only try to kill then once. But! Her method would be from a public execution, since Fontaine is about fair trials. As much as she would use her authority to speed the process, her biggest obstacle is actually Neuvillette!
This is because Neuvillette would already be aware about the truth because of his closeness with the elements of Teyvat. After all if the Sovereigns came before the Primordial One, then who came before them and created them? That's right, the Primordial Mother! Or the Sovereign Mother as they once called their creator, but it was changed over the centuries. Though I'll get into that another time.
Either way Neuvillette would do his absolute power to protect them. But it would be all for naught unfortunately as someone would sneak into the confinement area the creator was put in and killed them overnight.
That event would devastate Neuvillette, most likely causing him to quickly explain things to Furina. Though that could go in different ways if she listens to him or not, most likely yes because of her own situation.
Actually if I can ramble real quick, Fontaine is actually the nation that would have the least amount of deaths rate for our creator. And that's solely because of the long waiting periods Neuvillette and Furina set in place to keep anymore deaths within their nation. Though this does poorly due to those who kill from the shadows, or because of our broken creator themselves.
Honestly I know for a fact that Fontaine would have the most likelihood of a breakthrough for healing our creator's mental state. Especially since Neuvillette and Furina would be able to explain that them dying in custody was never the plan and they never had planned on letting them die in the first place (more so Neuvillette saying this, though he would vouch for Furina because most of Teyvat was ignorant).
But this wouldn't stop the angst at all during the healing process. Rain would be falling down constantly for practically years!
Though once the healing has been done I can guaranteed you have the entire nation of hydro being overprotective of the creator. They won't ever trust another nation and practically even forbid any non native Fontaine citizens near them.
They refuse to let any chance of events repeating once more. They've already gone against the Heavily Principles once, they're willing to go to war once again.

Neuvillette x Furina - Sleep doesn’t come that easy without you
Furina will never forget how it started.
That first night when she’d found her new Iudex—
Not hers. Not really. A dragon could never belong to a human, but she could pretend. She was very good at it.
—stood alone in the hallway, looking out of the towering palais window to the rest of the city below with those mesmerizing eyes of his. She’d been so cautious around him at first, terrified that he would easily see through her facade that still felt shaky in those early years. But that night he’d looked so…lost that it had struck a chord in her heart. It was the first time in their partnership that she’d been able to understand him in a single glance, it wouldn’t be the last.
How strange this must all be for him; to be summoned to a city full of humans by an archon and given such an important role at the very heart of a society he had scant understanding of. Strange and lonely.
Furina had joined him at the window. She’d been wrapped up in some fancy silk nightgown, the mask of Focalors not yet eclipsing Furina entirely, and offered him a smile. Not a glamorous, shining grin that adorned her face when she sat in the courtroom and laughed majestically at the trials on display before her as gifts. No, her smile had been softer than that, it didn’t feel painful as it stretched across her face from ear to ear.
A tentative expression that would be used with decreasing frequency as the years wore on until she could no longer remember how it felt to curl her lips in any manner that wasn’t for show.
Neuvillette had simply blinked at her, neither turning her away or welcoming her, and that had been enough for her to start talking.
Furina hated silence. She wanted the air to be full of music and song and applause and laughter and anything but the coldness of quiet. So she’d babbled at him, the mighty Hydro Sovereign himself; going on tangents about the best shops to visit, the most delicious cakes, the newest trends and the theatre. She’d spoken about the theatre quite a bit. There had been a new play opening at the opera house ‘Finding Cleverland’ about the life of one of Sumeru’s greatest playwrights that she’d been dying to see since.
It was only after about fifteen minutes that she’d realized how rude she must have seemed; intruding on his solitude with useless talk that he would have no interest in without even letting him get a word in edgewise. Her cheeks had burned in shame but when she’d turned to him to apologize she’d been struck quiet by the look on his face.
Neuvillette was listening to her every word, every silly little word that spilled forth from her mouth without heed or caution. He gave them the same level of attention that he had given the words of a condemned man in one of their trials earlier that day as if they were of equal importance.
Furina was used to being obeyed, not heard.
Which didn’t really make any sense at all but there was a difference! She felt it in the rush of warmth that washed over her when he continued to wait expectantly for her to continue.
The rest of the conversation was admittedly a bit of a blur but she’d never forget that happy warm feeling that bloomed to life in her chest at his sincere attention. They’d sat down on one of the opulent couches in the hall and she’d fallen asleep against his side.
It had been quite a shock to wake up beside him the next day. She’d nearly clobbered him with her bedside lamp before remembering that he wouldn’t know the social implications of such an act. When she asked why he hadn’t left for his own room after bringing her back he said that he enjoyed being near her and that she’d refused to let him go in her sleep.
Once she’d finished dealing with her humiliation she'd given him a lesson on sleeping on a lady’s bed if she hadn’t invited you in. That should have been the end of it.
Except Neuvillette had nodded and asked if he could sleep with her again.
Hearing him ask such a thing in that deep voice of his had sent her into another spiral of blushing embarrassment and she should have said no. He didn’t know any better. He was still learning. It was her responsibility as the one teaching him about humanity to explain why that wasn’t a good idea.
Furina should have said no.
But she didn’t.
She couldn’t.
Not after learning how good it felt to wake up in his arms, not after the overwhelming sense of safety she’d felt as she curled up against his massive form and the protective way he’d held her close.
It was a weakness.
One that she’d allowed back then when she was still young and learning. Not that those were excuses for her sin. She’d taken advantage of Neuvillette’s inexperience for her own selfish need for companionship and continued to do so for five hundred years.
They didn’t spend every night together but it was still a regular occurrence. No matter what happened during the day or what they said to each other he would show up outside her door. Furina would strain her ears listening for that polite knock before striding across the room to allow him entry.
Striding with power, authority and not bolting across the floor to fling open the door and drag him inside like she always wanted to.
They would lay down on her massive bed — which always felt too big when he wasn’t there — and he would reach for her after asking permission to do so.
Silly dragon, as if she would ever refuse him.
She needed him too much, needed to feel the coldness of his skin against her human warmth, needed the relief of being held by him, tangible proof that she wasn’t completely alone. Nights in Neuvillette’s arms had been one of the few things that had kept her sane during those long years and she’d clung to the comfort he offered her even though he didn’t know what he was giving her.
Then the traveler came.
Then the waters rose.
Then Poisson was flooded.
Then came the trial and the climax of the grand masquerade.
Then Furina left the palais and its grand hallways and beautiful rooms for a medium sized townhouse in the city.
She should have been happy. She was happy, the weight had finally been lifted from her shoulders and the truth revealed. Furina knew that she needed time to heal after everything, she knew she needed time away from the people involved in the grand trial so that she could learn who Furina truly was.
But the nights were hard. She would lie awake in her much smaller bed listening to rain pelt the window and grip her new vision tightly in her hand, as tightly as Neuvillette used to grip her. Sleep didn’t come to her as easily anymore and her traitorous soft heart yearned for the presence of another to soothe her soul.
Her fingers would tighten on the brilliant blue stone, another reminder of him, and she would bury her head into her pillow unaware of the dragon in the Palais Mermonia standing by a window looking down at one particular building in the city with a familiar lost look on his face.

Hello. I'm sorry if this is sudden but I was wondering if you could make a platonic Neuvillette story with a little angst with the reader being the youngest of his 3 children and she was extremely stressed especially after Lyney and Lynette's trial along with Neuvillette and the readers mother getting divorced so her older brother and sister who were twins from Neuvillette's previous marriage decided to take their little sister out to get her mind off of everything but when Neuvillette realized his children left he went to the traveller, Paimon and the readers best friend and longtime crush Lyney for help and Neuvillette was not happy his children just left without saying anything especially since his eldest children could be massive troublemakers. (If you're not okay with writing this that's completely alright and I wish you a good morning/afternoon or good night ☺️)
i love this idea!!
Father!Neuvillette
reader x Lyney ,SFW, little angst with fluff, short fic
reader is neuv's daughter,
You were so overwhelmed with the recent events going on in your life at the moment, you could barely hold it together. Your parents recent divorce and now your best friends being accused of crimes they never did.... it was too much.
Seeing you in such a state, your two older siblings came up with an offer to take you out and relax. It all sounded wonderful, because it meant you three had an occasion to hang out and you could take a break from the stress you were buried into. The only problem was that none of you announced your leaving, making poor Neuvillette worry sick for you.
Monsieur Neuvillette, usually put together, was now frantically gesturing and explaining to the Traveller the situation. He was in desperate help and he'd never bother the traveler if it wasn't so important. They figured Neuvillette was in desperate need of help as the sky became cloudy and rain started to pour. "We won't be able to find the three of them in time on our own. We might need some help and I know just the person!" Paimon suggested before leading Neuvillette straight to the newly accused criminal. Both Lyney and Neuvillette tensed up at the sight of each other, both confused on how and why were they here.
After traveller explained the situation, Lyney was ready to help his best friend and her father with anything he could. Now the four of them were desperately searching Fontaine's forests, in case Neuvillette children wandered too far. But it was all in vain. The sky was darkening, the clouds gathered and the children were nowhere to be found. All hope seemed lost for Monsieur as he sat down and silently cried the loss of his children.
He was not upset that they never announced they left, but more upset with himself that he couldn't protect them. It was his job as their father and now.... Now a sudden cry for help made everyone turn their head and look for the source. But Neuvillette knew it was his youngest child, his precious daughter's cry for help. He was the first one to get up and the first to arrive at the scene. His only daughter was now face to face with an aggressive crab as her siblings were trying their best to keep the other crabs away, but it wasn't easy with no sword.
Understanding the situation in front of him, Neuvillette knew there was only one way to put an end to this. "It is I, your Mighty Hydro Dragon commanding you to retreat in the depths of the sea and leave these children be." at his words the creatures retreaded instantly with their head bowed down. "Now you three come here." he commanded his children as they approached him in the same manner as the crabs left, head bowed and small steps. "We're sorry! We didn't mean to-" but the children's apology was cut short as Neuvillette bear hugged them all. "Never leave unannounced again!" The children hugged their father and sat like this as the traveler, Lyney and Paimon caught up to Neuvillette, who previously ran away before anyone else.
"Aww what a happy family reunion!" Paimon said just before the group hug ended.
"Let's go home now. I think it's already time for dinner. Shall we?" Monsieur asked before looking at Lyney "it's an open invitation for everyone" Lyney looked at both Neuvillette and you, unsure of what to think. You nodded and smiled at him, making the magician smile in return before nodding to your father.
"Free food!" Paimon yelled excitedly as the whole crew laughed. --------------------------------------------------------------tysm for the ask anon, it was a pleasure writing it and i hope it meets your expectations🫶🏼
