The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh government, has released the Intermediate Public Examination, March 2020, recounting and reverification results on Tuesday. Here’s how you can check results: The results can be checked on the official website bie.ap.gov.in or directly login on the results page rcres.bieap.net.in After accessing the results page, the students will have to submit their roll number, previous roll number, the transaction ID and Date of Birth to find their results. The Intermediate 1st year and 2nd year which is the equivalent of class 11 and 12- were released on June 12 by Minister Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh. A total of 10.64 lakh students had appeared for the exams. In the exams which were held in March, the pass percentage for the first-year students was 59%, and 63% for second-year students. While 5,07,230 first-year students appeared for the exams, 3,00,560 of them have passed. For the second year exams, 4,35,655 students had appeared and 2,76,389 of them passed. The pass percentage for both 1st and 2nd years was higher among girl students. Among first-year students, 64% of the 2,57,619 girls who appeared for the exam passed, while the pass percentage among boys was 55%. For the second-year exams, 67% of the 2,22,798 girls who appeared for the exam passed, while the pass percentage was 60% among boys. Among the 13 districts of the state, Krishna district topped the state securing the highest pass percentage for both first-year and second-year exams. Both West Godavari and Guntur districts shared the second highest pass percentages for the first-year exams, while West Godavari had the second highest pass percentage for the second-year exam. Visakhapatnam district was at third place for the first-year exam, while sharing the third place with Nellore district for the second-year exam. Among government intermediate colleges, Vizianagaram district showed the best results for both first-year and second-year exams. Earlier, the education department announced that the grading system will continue for second-year students, as they have received their results in the form of grades in their first year. However, the results will be issued in the form of absolute marks starting from this year’s batch of first-year students. Intermediate exam results were changed to a Grade Point Average (GPA) system a few years ago, but the Board of Intermediate Andhra Pradesh has decided to revert to the marks system, as students had reportedly been facing difficulties in admissions to colleges outside the state, while converting the GPA into percentages.

Determination of Gillnet and Hook Selectivity for Caranx heberi Captured off Kanyakumari Coast of India | Chapter 12 | Advances in Applied Science and Technology Vol. 5

The larger carangids are most important fishery in the coast of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. They are caught by large meshed gillnets and hooks in these region. However, there is no selectivity studies conducted on this fishery especially in this coast. The selectivity nature of every gear is important for managing the fishery as well as for conservation of resources. Large meshed gillnets having mesh sizes of 13.5 cm, 14 cm, 14.5 cm and 15 cm and Hooks No.5,6,7 and 8 were chosen for determining the  selectivity and  fishing power  of  the gears  to  capture the  larger  carangid Caranx  heberi of Kanyakumari coast of India. The catch data were analysed using the software GILLNET (Generalized Including Log-Linear N Estimation Technique) comprised of the methodology of SELECT (Share Each Length  Class  Total) by  fitting  various uni-normal  models  viz., normal  scale,  normal location,  log-normal, gamma and bi-normal model. Models were tested using various selectivity parameters like Model Deviance, Dispersion Parameter and residual plots. Bi-normal model was found appropriate for gillnet catch data while normal location for hook catch data despite over dispersion was common in both the fits.  The mesh  size  of 13.5  cm  and hook  No.5  and  6  were found  as optimum  size for capturing larger carangid C. heberi. Comparison of the selective effects of different gears is complex particularly between selective gears. Further, the mean size of fish caught from one gear to another gear varies due to various biological factors such as availability, abundance, age, sex, and size, or environmental factors such as fishing ground, depth, etc. Selection curves of gillnets and hooks of the present study are assumed as bell shaped multi-normal and uni-normal in nature respectively. In this study, hook selectivity data fit appropriately with uni-normal model despite it is complex in nature in general. It is also opined that fit may depend on models applied though it is normally influenced by biological  behavior and  capturing  methods. This  study  revealed that  gillnet  yielded   obvious  size selection range  than hooks in capturing larger carangid, C. heberi of the study area.

Venkaiah Naidu Elected 13th Vice President of India

Former union minister Muppavarapu Venkaiah Naidu (68) was elected as 13th Vice President of India. He will succeed Hamid Ansari, who held the position for two consecutive terms of 5 years. With this victory, BJP has occupied top three constitutional posts of India- President, Vice-President and Prime Minister. A group of young girls walking in a school or college while holding books and carrying bags Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh released the results of the Intermediate Public Examinations held in March 2020, for the first and second year of Intermediate (equivalent to class 11 and 12). Most of the exams were held from March 4 to 23, just before the lockdown came into force. One last exam, which was pending, was rescheduled for June 3. Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) Commissioner V Ramakrishna said that around 10.64 lakh students had appeared for the exams. Sharing the details of the results, Adimulapu Suresh revealed that the pass percentage for first-year students was 59%, while it is 63% for second-year students. While 5,07,230 first-year students appeared for the exams, 3,00,560 of them have passed. For the second year exams, 4,35,655 students appeared and 2,76,389 passed. The pass percentage for both years was slightly higher among girl students. Among first-year students, 64% of the 2,57,619 girls who appeared for the exam passed, while the pass percentage among boys was 55%. For the second-year exams, 67% of the 2,22,798 girls who appeared for the exam passed, while the pass percentage was 60% among boys. Among the 13 districts of the state, Krishna district had the highest pass percentage for both first-year and second-year exams. West Godavari and Guntur district shared the second highest pass percentages for the first-year exam, while West Godavari had the second highest pass percentage for the second-year exam. Visakhapatnam district was at third place for the first-year exam, while sharing the third place with Nellore district for the second-year exam. Among government intermediate colleges, Vizianagaram district showed the best results for both first-year and second-year exam. Although the lockdown began within four days of starting evaluation of papers, the Education Minister had said that the number of evaluation centres was increased and precautions were taken to carry out the evaluation carefully to avoid COVID-19 infection. The grading system will continue for second-year students, as they have received their results in the form of grades in their first year. However, the results will be issued in the form of absolute marks starting from this year’s batch of first-year students, officials of the education department said. Intermediate exam results were changed to a Grade Point Average (GPA) system a few years ago, but the Board of Intermediate Andhra Pradesh has decided to revert to the marks system, as students had reportedly been facing difficulties in admissions to colleges outside the state, while converting the GPA into percentages. However, no colleges will be allowed to display the marks of students in the form of advertisements in print or electronic media, said BIE Commissioner Ramakrishna. The “short marks memos” have been uploaded on the BIE website, and the full marks memo will be available from June 15 onwards, said Education Minister Suresh.
