To be fair, no Akari hadn't experienced it before. And, since it seemed rather easy to happen, it probably was nothing harmful to humans, and she assumed it wasn't really a danger for them either. Still, though, she had maybe gasped a bit too shockedly to see the spots of color Aoi had on her hands after their earlier session of creating some advertisements for the Pearl Piari on cardboard, and Aoi's question in return - clearly a bit too panicked - was too good to not go along with it. "No, I don't think you are." She grinned for just a moment, before changing her expression to something a little more worried to deliver her bluff better.

"I have heard of it before!" Where was she, probably having had much more limited experiences with other people outside of her kingdom before than Aoi or anyone not from her kingdom really, supposed to have heard of it? It didn't matter, she just had to keep talking so no questions were going to be asked. "Ink on our skin won't kill us. It won't transform us back into our mermaid forms either, but... I have heard that a few times of transforming later, someone grew tentacles instead of a tail... and it'll keep happening, not everytime but more and more often... slowly but surely completely turning you into an octopod." She was doing her best to sound as dramatic as possible to sell her story, though it was difficult to not snicker along since she was absolutely making this up and it sounded ridiculous to herself.
