#ned's journey of queer superhero discovery

Ok for everyone who read "Ned's Journey of Queer Superhero Discovery" (and if you haven't uhhhhh here is the shameless plug) I have a question, since the chapters I'm working on in order to continue posting start delving into the multiverse

(please keep in mind if you reply that I have not yet seen the movie, which is part of why I'm outsourcing the question)

Things to consider:

Choice two only makes sense if the movie doesn't upset the post-into the Spiderverse status quo too much, which from what little I've let myself glean seems unlikely (do NOT elaborate on this to me please, again I have not seen the movie)

If I have to dramatically rework my Spiderverse section it will take me much longer to update/finish the story

This is a meaningful but small portion of the story overall

As of right now my plan is only to include Miles and Peter B Parker, and I don't expect that to change even after I meet the new characters

Yes I'm going to see the movie this poll is not about whether or not I watch it

Ned is bisexual, newly eighteen, and a few months away from starting at MIT. The trouble is, he's never actually dated a boy, and while he knows that doesn't really mean anything it would still be nice to test his own fears and limits while he's still at home. On the bright side, there's that cute boy who frequents the coffee shop where Ned's best friend works. Of course, Peter turns out to have about twenty layers of mysterious sadness in him, MJ is by turns sceptical and supportive, and some wizard guy turns up out of the blue insisting Ned is connected to some mysterious magic, but at least Ned's last summer before everything changes won't be boring.

When We Save Each Other (aka clone rebellion fic) - Star Wars OCs and canon clones joining forces to try and make the galaxy a little better for themselves and the clone army as a whole; being posted one arc at a time, third arc will begin posting at the end of July

Nightingale - Julie and the Phantoms superhero au that delves into the question of how badly superheroes might be exploited; finally back in motion after months on hiatus, and should be posting every other Saturday until completion

Ned’s Journey of Queer Superhero Discovery - post-Spider-Man NWH fic that says “what if Ned thought Peter staring longingly at him was a sign it was time to have a queer summer fling but also Peter was just under the impression that they’re such good friends they can even overcome magic” and then proceeds to get wilder and more batshit from there; posting every other Tuesday for the foreseeable future!

The Art of Trust - Ducktales fic that stole the premise of Once Upon a Time and won’t give it back; also back in action! Posts every other Saturday, alternating with Nightingale

In Every Possible Timeline - Star Wars fic wherein a very young Echo starts to slip forward in time periodically to around season one of the Bad Batch, diverging very quickly from the original progress of canon as he tries to fix things; this was me being foolish and impulsive in posting but I have a decent buffer so for now it's posting weekly on Sundays

Not WIPs but fics/series with sequels I need to write:

Sometimes a Family Is - Star Wars mostly-a-fix-it that hands Dogma and Fives a child (children...) and says “good luck, deal with your emotional trauma so you don’t fuck these kids up too badly”; the next fic is in progress but daunting so you know. If you wanna know more about it please ask and spark my brain

SuperFlynn/BatLuke universe - another Julie and the Phantoms superhero au, this time casting Flynn as Superman (Superwoman) and Luke as Batman (which makes sense in context I swear); the BatLuke companion piece is mostly plotted but because of all the Other Things on this list it’s taking a backseat right now unless something really inspires me

Jesse Lives AU - how it sounds: a fic where Jesse survives the end of the Clone Wars and ends up travelling the galaxy with a pretty guy who annoys the crap out of him while also trying to deal with his feelings of abandonment by both Rex and the Empire; I haven’t touched it in a while due to the Everything Else I’m working on, but if you like clone/oc stuff and don’t mind (or enjoy) a lack of smut here is some writing for you

me finally working on my spider-man fic that’s been languishing forever, about to get into the multiverse arc, realising that I did in fact bring spiderverse into it and haven’t seen the new movie yet, because at the time i started this i was so sure I would get here before atsv came out

In lieu of being able to provide actual finished chapters yet, I have decided to post random sneak peeks at the ongoing fics I have been working on but not updated in a while, while I convince myself to [refresh my ducktales memory/watch a particular section of dr strange (ugh)/stop skipping thirty chapters ahead in nightingale and actually write the next part]

(man i have a variety of fandoms i’m trying to write for right now. it’s probably a good thing i never started posting that witcher fic)

so for anyone invested in Ned’s Queer Journey or whatever the hell I called my Spider-Man fic, have a chunk

“So, MJ,” Wong said. MJ crossed her arms, eyeing him warily. He’d been an ok teacher, and Ned clearly liked him, but she was more worried than ever about why Ned was so interested in magic. Wong had only just met Ned, so he wasn’t about to catch it. MJ was the only one who knew Ned well enough to know something was up.

“Yeah?” she said.

“What do you remember of that day?”

MJ didn’t have to ask which one, but that didn’t mean she had much of a memory at all.

“It was normal,” she said. “Nothing stuck. I didn’t know about the Statue of Liberty until after it happened.”

“Do you remember how you heard about it?” Wong said. MJ frowned, thinking back.

“The news…”

It had to be, right? She remembered the headlines, the muted news anchor droning on in front of a photo of the Statue of Liberty as she served some random customer, the Daily Bugle ranting about Spider-Man… MJ wasn’t sure which one had been the first moment. She hadn’t been too surprised or upset. The whole Captain America shield thing seemed tacky and insensitive. Not that MJ knew anything about what Steve Rogers was like, but she had the vague notion he’d be annoyed, too.

Then again, she felt like she’d been in the area around then. MJ remembered looking at that obscenely large, fallen disc of copper and thinking how unnecessary it was to make something that size. She’d been close enough while the statue was under construction to have a sense of the shield’s size, right?

But when?

“I don’t know,” MJ said. “It has to be the news. I think I was nearby a little before the battle?”

“You don’t remember for sure if you visited the Statue of Liberty?”

When Wong put it like that, it did sound a little weird. MJ looked at Ned.

“That’s about what I said, too,” he told her. “Like… I’m pretty sure I was at the statue in person recently? But I don’t know when.”

“So the thing you saw might be real,” MJ said to Wong. “Would Spider-Man remember?”
