besides anime!tanuma’s “type” comment, i can recall two other anime-exclusive instances that were probably designed to be ship fanservice. One was where natsume was possessed by the beautiful blue-haired koto player... in the manga, only a couple people are around to notice natsume’s leveled up feminine charm, and tanuma is not one of them-- I don’t think he appears in the chapter at all, and his friendship with natsume is still very new and hasn’t really been developed yet. but in the anime??? he blushes, makes an awkward comment, and runs away lmao. The other instance IS THIS ONE HAHAHAHAHA... at first I was like “anime staff might mean this in the hetero bro way” but now i am Convinced. anime tanuma’s thirst is Real. it’s funny but honestly i think canon already makes tanuma’s love for natsume apparent. idk what type of love it is tho, it’s none of my business 

while we’re on the subject. sensei/madara is a target for fanservice too lmao. he’s extra cute. they designed him to be the face of the franchise. and obv, certain aspects of natsume’s charm are played up too. it’s a multi-season anime adaptation after all. i’m weak
