An Excerpt from Nawara Negm's 'You Have Been Blocked'
In You Have Been Blocked, the debut novel by popular writer Nawara Negm — daughter of towering literary figures Safinaz Kazem and Ahmed Fouad Negm — explores a collage of different women’s struggles during a single (eventful) day at the Internet Complaints office in Cairo. Her witty, clear style and attention to the minor details of society (family, class, relationships, handbags, religion,…

Here are twenty Legends characters to consider creating content with for this event! This is just a highlight list of the more major characters/characters I particularly like/unique characters. There are many more, and I provided some links you may find helpful for a deeper search!
I kept the list primarily to physical disabilities just because those are easily defined on page whereas neurodiversity of fictional characters can be more open to interpretation. For example, I would say based on the Jedi Quest books that Ferus Olin probably has an anxiety disorder. But it is not something that is explicitly said, so it is up to interpretation and other people may see it differently than me. This is in contrast to something more explicitly defined, like the fact that Tenel Ka is an amputee.
Amputees
Cay Qel-Droma - a Jedi of the Old Republic in the Tales of the Jedi comics lost his left arm in battle and later received a prosthetic.
Bao-Dur - a Zabrak Jedi of the Old Republic in the second Knights of the Old Republic game lost an arm during the Mandalorian Wars and later received a prosthetic.
Zule Xiss - a Falleen Jedi padawan of the Clone Wars era in the Republic comics lost her arm to Ventress in the same battle that claimed the life of her Jedi master, Glaive. She continued to fight for the Republic with a prosthetic arm until she was killed in the Battle of Jabiim.
Tholme - a Jedi of the Republic/Clone Wars/Early Empire era in the Republic comics, loses his right leg and left eye during the Clone Wars. He receives a prosthetic for both, and uses a cane to walk after this occurs.
Tenel Ka Djo - a Jedi of the New Republic era becomes an amputee in the Young Jedi Knights books after a lightsaber malfunction. After discussion with Luke about his experience as an amputee, she chooses not to receive a prosthetic and learns to adapt to fighting and living with a single arm.
Tionne Solusar - a Jedi of the New Republic era has a prosthetic arm and leg. She was one of Luke's original students at the New Jedi Order academy.
Nawara Ven - a pilot of Rogue Squadron lost a leg below the knee in an engagement and returned to their previous career of practicing law after receiving this injury and prosthetic.
Gavar Khai - a Sith of the New Republic era in the Fate of the Jedi books lost his arm in battle with Luke Skywalker and had it replaced with a prosthetic.
Wolf Sazen - a Zabrak Jedi of the Legacy era in the Legacy (2006) comics has a prosthetic arm. He is closely tied to the Skywalker family, as Kol Skywalker's padawan and Cade Skywalker's master.
You can find a longer list of characters with prosthetics here, a list of characters with lost limbs here, and of course Luke and Anakin fall into this category as well!
Facial Injuries & Disfigurement +/- additional amputation
Darth Malak - a Sith of the Old Republic era in the game Knights of the Old Republic has a facial injury leading to the use of a prosthetic voice box and jaw
Jace Malcom - a Republic Trooper of the Old Republic era in the game Star Wars: The Old Republic received a facial injury in battle that led to disfigurement. He was also Satele Shan's lover and Theron Shan's father.
Darth Malgus - a Sith of the Old Republic era in the game Star Wars: The Old Republic has a facial injury and uses a respirator and prosthetic
Laranth Tarak - a Twi'lek Jedi of the Clone Wars/Early Empire era in the Coruscant Nights trilogy received injuries that led to facial scarring and the partial loss of one of her lekku while escaping and helping evacuate others from the Temple during Order 66/Operation Knightfall.
Blindness
Zao - a Jedi Master of the Republic/Clone Wars/Early Empire eras in the Republic and Dark Times comics, Zao is blind, and has adapted his lightsaber into a walking stick
Tahl - a Jedi of the Republic era in the Jedi Apprentice chapter books, is blinded during a mission and has to figure out how to adapt to continue in her role as a Jedi
A longer list of blind individuals can be found here.
Other
Taria Damsin - a Jedi of the Clone Wars era in the novel Clone Wars: Gambit - Stealth has a terminal/degenerative illness. She is a close friend of Obi-Wan.
Yoda - uses a cane and sometimes a hoverchair for mobility
Quinlan Vos & Aayla Secura - Clone Wars era Jedi, both experienced memory loss due to being drugged on a mission gone wrong in the Republic comics. The Jedi extended efforts to make them feel comfortable again in their home despite not remembering it and helped them to regain what was possible of their memories.
Empatojayos Brand - a Jedi through the Clone Wars to the New Republic in the Dark Empire and Empire's End comics received extensive injuries in a fight with Vader and was fitted into a prosthetic body in the shape of a sphere of his own design which allowed him to take part in efforts to restore the Republic and Jedi Order.
Additionally, here is a list of characters with lost eyes, and Wookieepedia's general list of characters with disabilities. See also this work-in-progress list of disabled characters on the Star Wars Fic Reference Wiki!

“One of the earliest cases Abu Hamdan worked on involved Nadeem Nawara and Mohammad Abu Daher, two Palestinian teen-agers who were shot dead by Israeli border police in the occupied West Bank during a Nakba Day protest. The Israel Defense Forces claimed that the officers had shot the boys with rubber bullets, to quell the demonstration, and that the cause of the deaths could not be determined. Abu Hamdan used sound analysis to differentiate the sonic signatures of various kinds of ammunition. In this case, the sounds were of neither rubber-coated bullets nor live ammunition “but something in between,” he said. “A kind of amalgamation of the two sounds.” Abu Hamdan ultimately found that the officers had fired live ammunition out of a rubber-bullet extension. This finding led to the indictment of Ben Deri, one of the Israeli border officers, on manslaughter charges. (In 2016, Deri accepted a plea deal for the lesser charge of negligent homicide and received a nine-month prison sentence.)
“When Ben Deri was arrested, in 2014, it was the first time that a member of the Israeli forces had been charged with killing a Palestinian child. But how could Abu Hamdan feel anything like resolution? The pursuit of legal justice, however limited, had forced him into a cowed posture. “I was immediately asked to do something that, for me, was politically compromising, which was to argue that the Israeli soldiers were not firing rubber bullets but live ammunition,” he said—the implication being that rubber bullets were acceptable. “Rubber bullets, especially in the Israel-Palestine context, are constantly being shot in people’s faces at close range,” Abu Hamdan explained. They maim, as a form of deterrence.
“Two years after the bullet analysis, he created an installation called “Earshot,” which reflects on the killings of Nawara and Abu Daher. The centerpiece is a video called “Rubber Coated Steel.” The film was shot in an indoor gun range, where the sounds of gunfire cannot be heard from the outside—a metaphor for violence done in a kind of aural darkness. There is no speech, but text runs along the bottom of the video: a transcript from an imaginary civil trial. And yet, even in this space of speculative justice, Nawara and Abu Daher are not given “a voice”; the boys are not made to ventriloquize a fantasy of justice from beyond the grave. Abu Hamdan challenges a maxim forced onto the marginalized: that their voices are a source of power.”

I am convinced Wish straight up stole the story from the Stardust episode in Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire. How so?
-A gathering ceremony of a man called the Oracle granting “destinies” to people that become of age
-Setting is set in a North African region (Egypt most likely) and the MC(Nawara) is most likely Amazigh. This is based on her design, and what I’ve seen Amazigh people tend to wear-take my words with a grain of salt. But even if that is not the case, Nawara’s design shares similarities with Asha’s concept art
-Similar tower observatory structure because the Oracle, like Magnifico, look into astrology for their source of power
-An MC that approaches the Oracle for the intention for her own ambitions being granted
-The MC feels wronged when denied their wishes/destinies, and plans to steal them
-There is great emphasis on a fallen Star. Stars in general, but mainly this particular “wishing Star”
-She becomes the apprentice of the Oracle(he’s not actually a villain, but alluded to be). Hey Remember when Asha applied to be an assistant, and that was never explored on what they do?
-The story is essentially telling you that you can make your own wishes/destinies come true
-Literally has Nawara end the short saying “nothing but this!” (Look at lyrics of This Wish)
Taking into account that Kizazi Moto is region locked with Disney+ (I don’t think most African countries can even watch it), and that Disney barely advertised the show, I would not be surprised they scrapped everything they originally had, just to poorly mimic this story. There are just way too many similarities between these two for it all to be a coincidence
Kizazi Moto has been in development for years btw, so yes it is possible for Disney to steal aspects of the premise for Wish
It would explain why Wish’s characters and plot barely get any development and just feel empty. This one short was able to immerse us in a finished world building perspective. The city in Stardust actually feels magical, and the MC changes by the end of the story. Feel like the reason Wish failed in these aspects is partly because they tried to mimic Stardust, but divorced it from its own lore and context. And so you just have a movie of nothing
Disney has always had a habit of stealing works from others to make profit. Remember when they tried to copyright Hakuna Matata?
I’m already mad they hardly advertised Kizazi Moto to begin with, but now I am more mad at the fact that an 8 min short did Wish better in every aspect, and it’s probably because Wish stole these concepts from African animators like Ahmed Teliab(directed and written Stardust)
And there are other cool episodes in Generation Fire, I would appreciate y’all checking out. African animators and writers hardly get any recognition for their talents.
Even if Wish really didn’t steal this episode’s concepts, again, Stardust does everything better than Wish in every way
Conclusion: Go watch Kizazi Moto, but yknow pirate it. They don’t even show the series in African countries anyways. You might as well look into their works, and support them. The company supporting a genocide with some of those African countries, ain’t going to care about them

GIVE ME THE CORRANTYCHO PLZ
[from this WIP ask - still open!]
HELLO :D thank you, I have not been giving enough love to my Pilots folder
the file is Oblivious Pilots - CorranTycho and it starts with the note: "The Rogues share one braincell, and Nawara is the only one actually using it," which seems like a fair assesment
After the end of the briefing, Corran stared after Tycho as he left, frowning. Mirax nudged him none too gently. “If you’re done staring at Captain Celchu’s ass…” “I wasn’t… what are you…” Corran sputtered. “Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great ass, but you could stand to be less obvious.” “I am not interested in anyone’s ass, Mirax. I am merely curious about such a talented pilot being wasted once again on the sidelines.” “Just professional interest, of course,” Nawara teased. "Ooryl sometimes has trouble deciphering human expressions, but your interest does seem rather intense for mere curiosity." "I have no such issues in translation," Nawara cut in, "And despite the fact you don’t have lekku to be crossing at him, you're pretty obvious, Corran." "What does that mean?" Rhysati laughed, clearly in on the joke, and Nawara grinned. "I'll leave you to figure it out." Corran wasn’t sure he liked having friends again.
[apparently crossing your lekku at someone is a very very clear sign of interest]
I love bullying Corran (๑ > ᴗ < ๑)°ᡣ𐭩 . °

As I begin work on making the bracket for the Star Wars Pilots Tournament, there are unfortunately many characters that will not make it into the showdown. These characters were submitted very late in the game and/or only got one submission each, so they are sadly not eligible.
So, ladies, gentlemen, and all other associations of being, I invite you to join me in raising a glass to those pilots who simply did not qualify.
Dak Ralter (The Empire Strikes Back)
Submitted propaganda: Look he's not really piloting and also he dies in his only scene but I love him
2. Col "Fake Wedge" Takbright (A New Hope)
Submitted propaganda: Totally would have kicked ass in the Battle of Yavin if he had been there
3. Thane Kyrell (Lost Stars)
Submitted propaganda: An ex-Imperial who defected and fought in the Rebellion, including the battle of Hoth, Endor and Jakku. He’s also in a very beautiful romance story with his childhood friend and Imperial pilot Ciena Ree
4. Oddball (Clone Wars/Revenge of the Sith)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
5. Greez Dritus (Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
6. Jarek Yeager (Star Wars Resistance)
Submitted propaganda: Rebellion pilot who fought in the Battle of Jakku! Became a racer after the Empire fell but quit after his brother cheating in a race led to an explosion that killed his family. Moved to an out of the way fueling station and decided to run a mechanic's shop instead of piloting. He's drawn back into flying by Kaz when the First Order rises, and becomes a squadron leader/teacher for the next generation of pilots.
7. Venisa Doza (Star Wars Resistance)
Submitted propaganda: Badass Rebellion pilot who convinced her future husband to defect from the Empire! When the First Order started to rise she immediately joined the Resistance to fight them. Awesome pilot and really good at convincing Imperials/First Order people to defect.
8. Mara Jade Skywalker (Thrawn trilogy)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
9. Ooryl Qrygg (Rogue Squadron)
Submitted propaganda: Ooryl is unique in what his contributions mean to his people. There are very few Gand in the Lore but Ooryl qualifies for Rogue Squadron, the best pilots of the New Republic. He also arcs to earn the right to use "I" pronouns, which is extended only to Gand who are famous enough to be known to literally every Gand that exists.
10. Garik "Face" Loran (X Wing - Wraith Squadron)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
11. Myn Donos (Wraith Squadron)
Submitted propaganda: Pulled off a nearly impossible rescue (ultimately failed as the other pilot was unconscious and unable to aid) and was the only surviving member of [???]
12. Wes Janson (Rogue Squadron + Wraith Squadron)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
13. Derek "Hobbie" Klivian (Rogue Squadron + Wraith Squadron)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
14. Nawara Ven (Rogue Squadron)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
15. Temmin "Snap" Wexley (Sequel trilogy and Aftermath trilogy)
Submitted propaganda: none :(
16. Kazuda Xiono (Star Wars Resistance)
Submitted propaganda: Resistance pilot who joins the Resistance because he wants to make a difference against the First Order and the New Republic isn't doing anything. Very good combat pilot and much more graceful in the air than he is on the ground.
17. Torra Doza (Star Wars Resistance)
Submitted propaganda: 15 year old racing pilot! Learned how to fly from her mom. Super good at flying and clearly has a lot of fun flying also.
18. Hype Fazon (Star Wars Resistance)
Submitted propaganda: Super good race pilot who has to adjust to being a combat pilot when the First Order rises. Has a tendency to run from things that frighten him at first (the First Order, added responsibility, growth) but always comes back at the end. Also is delightfully cocky about his piloting skills.
19. Isabella Garcia-Shapiro / "Pilot Isabella" (Phineas and Ferb/Star Wars crossover)
Submitted propaganda: Okay so she’s the Han Solo of the episode despite Han also being in that, but also I just think this is the funniest technically legal submission I could do I’m not a Star Wars fan <3
20. that one ufuck (???)
Submitted propaganda: hhrrhhhghgngnhghghggngnghg i hve no fucking clue what any of this means im delirious right now im not even a star wars fan either
Believe me, y'all, I am as upset as you are over some of these not making it in. However, I made the rules and I would just be a hypocrite if I didn't follow them.
BUT stay tuned for the actual bracket with the 32 characters who DID make it in!

Pros of reading the Rogue Squadron books: Wedge and Tycho being gay and in love, Gavin Darklighter, Nawara Ven: Ace Attorney, that one scene where Wedge pretends to be Gavin’s dad, an insight into X-wing pilot slang
Cons of reading the Rogue Squadron books: copious amounts of Men Writing Women, Corran Horn.

I’m always trying to reach more Rogue & Wraith Squadron fans to foist my wares upon! A passion project (because I’ve invested a lot of money into these and have come nowhere close to breaking even) - my Flyboys enamel pins series is growing!!! I’m so proud of them!
Wedge, Wes and Hobbie bring me so much joy! And every time I sell a pin I am so delighted that I’ve found another Fab Four fan! Carson is a personal fave, as he’s played by my good friend, Paul, who I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and working with for almost 15 years and we have geeked out over Star Wars many times. I’m so thrilled for him that he has this wonderful recurring role in the SW Galaxy!
The Fab Four wouldn’t be four without Tycho, and he’s currently in production, as is Biggs! I have four more pilots to make after that and then I’ll have to really think about continuing the series! In my dreams, I’d love to expand to some of the actual Wraiths (Face and Ton are a MUST!) and some of the other Rogues (Nawara, Gavin and oh fine…Corran 😝).
All pin artwork for this series is by my pal @darthfar - I’m so grateful that he also loves the pilots and indulged my need to pin them!
You can find my Flyboy pins AND more Star Wars inspired pins in my Etsy shop!

Voices of the Force: Brainstorm Notes 2
My recently developed Genderfluid!Corran headcanon is also useful for this story because it allows me to make Corran and Mirax not straight without doing anything that would prevent them from having gotten together at all and therefore retconning Valin and Jysella out of existence.
I really want to try and insert as much gay as I can within basically those bounds. I don't want to retcon anyone out of existence because their parents never got together. I also don't want to do anything I absolutely can't see from that character.
I'm trying to form a conception of what exactly the average citizens of the galaxy believe about the Jedi and Sith at this point.
I often think of a line Nawara has in Outcast, which is something to the effect of "History, viewed by non-Jedi, shows that you're wrong. Jedi often exhibit those self-serving and destructive impulses. They just stop calling themselves Jedi."
The official narrative about the... what, like, a week? that the Alliance spent under the control of Abeloth is that the Sith were responsible, and the Jedi stopped them. They can tell people that that's a summary of the difference between Jedi and Sith - Sith try to establish themselves as imperial rulers of the galaxy, and Jedi try to stop them - but one need only look to any fallen Jedi in history to see a fault in that argument. The way I've conceived for the galaxy to be shown that the Jedi aren't above the law - essentially a legalized check to make sure they're still acting like Jedi - also helps people have more understanding of what the Jedi try to do, and reassure them that there are legal measures in place to prevent another instance like Vader or Caedus.
I've thought on occasion that sometimes Jaina annoys Ahsoka by calling her "Great One" or "Goddess" or all the honorifics she found so obnoxious when she was pretending to be a Vong goddess and stuff. I don't think Ahsoka would actually find that to be, like, a friendly tease or whatever, because it is a very serious emotional issue for her, so I'm probably not going to do that.
My idea previously had been that less experienced Jedi pilots get mainline X-Wings, and maybe some related designs like E-Wings, since StealthXs are so expensive to make, and they want to minimize potential losses. The way I have it fleshed out now, though, StealthXs are the only X-Wings they legally can make on their own, and unless they design a completely new kind of fighter for Jedi use, which is definitely a possibility, the StealthXs most likely are the easiest thing for them to replace.
They could ask Tenel Ka for some Miy'tils or whatever, but the location of the primary Jedi Temple is not widely known to those outside of the Hapes Cluster, and using Hapan fighters would be a pretty easy giveaway. I don't even know offhand if those have hyperdrives
In terms of the Rogues' roster: I vaguely recall a scene in Dark Tide I that has some introspection by Gavin and we find out he has kids by then. Maybe one or more of them is here. Maybe we get something of a Jesmin Ackbar situation, where people have been hesitant to actually use them out of fear of disappointing the Supreme Commander.
I also really want to make another attempt at what they tried and kind of failed to do with Traest Kre'fey, which is a non-stereotypical Bothan. This new person, whatever their name is, doesn't care at all about politics, and resents the constant selection of them for questions about the political status of Bothans in the Galactic Alliance after the recent reintegration of the Confederation.
The idea of going to a planet that developed Vergere and Caedus' ability to take away people's Force-sensitivity (and was later absorbed into the Empire of the Hand) leads to the idea of a situation, not necessarily because of this, where Jaina and Zekk can't communicate with each other through the Force, but their Killik bond is a completely separate thing, as far as I can tell, and that would allow them to still mentally communicate with each other under a circumstance of Force-deprivation, when the villains probably think they can't communicate privately or at all.
Vestara being openly herself in Rogue Squadron is also essentially her painting a target on her back for assassination attempts by Sith. They have to have thought of that.
Because StealthXs are so much easier for the Jedi to replace, those likely would be the first things that Jedi who are just starting to learn to pilot would fly outside of simulators. I need to reread it, but I think there's a bit in Conviction where one of the Jedi that shows up to do the negotiations and stuff on Klatooine is explicitly still an apprentice, and flies a StealthX.
The battle meld, as shown in canon, is clearly very vulnerable to enemy Force-users, and I'm trying to figure out how the technique would be adapted to get around that. Ideally, it would be something that promotes a stronger mental connection in general between members of a squadron.
There's that scene in Backlash where Jaden Korr's making a random report to the Council about a Black Sun resurgence, which includes a cult venerating Xizor, who's been dead for decades but Jaden speculates that someone might have cloned him. I can't help but wonder if that's some kind of Sith side project.
Speaking of that, the Jedi know where Kesh is through Vestara, but they aren't going to attack it because a) there's a non-negligible risk of civilian casualties, and b) they don't have enough strength to take out the Omen anyway. According to Jaden in Crosscurrent, that class of Sith "dreadnought" is only cruiser-sized by the standards of this era, but in the increasingly fringe interpretations of Star Wars tech that I subscribe to, that easily means 1e26-watt reactors. More than sufficient firepower to hold off a few wings of StealthXs.
The endgame I have in mind for the Lost Tribe is that the Alliance finds Kesh on their own and there's a serious chance that they'll just glass it, and the Jedi have to prevent that and work out some kind of treaty that seals the defeat of the Sith aggressors but preserves the lives of the innocents of Kesh. For most of the time I've had the idea, that deal has been "mine the hyperlanes and call it a day" but more recently I've started to favor the idea of the civilians of Kesh actually getting to join galactic civilization, and maybe the Keshiri species becomes known to the galaxy as more than the Sith.
Another idea I have in mind, for the aspect of Ahsoka that's related to the culture of her species, is that the Vong War saw Shili conquered by the invaders and the various animals that had important symbolic and ceremonial value in Togruta culture reshaped into hideous beasts of war. For some reason, probably because that war cut the Togruta's numbers down enough that they can't get anyone in power to care, the planet hasn't been redeveloped since, and after Ahsoka had to sell her first set of akul teeth post-TWJ, she now resolves to go back to Shili anyway, kill one of whatever the akul became the way her ancestors would have done it - using only the tools her body gives her - and take the teeth of that.
I really don't want to gloss over how powerful Star Wars tech is. Specifics, though they won't be scarce, are still subject to what makes sense in terms of pacing and not boring people and stuff. It's very well-established, however, that an Imperator-class destroyer, a fairly minor warship in the grand scheme of them, can glass the entire surface of the average human-habitable planet in about an hour, meaning it has to be able to produce as much energy as a small star in a few hundred thousand cubic meters. Being very explicit and upfront with these kinds of details, in addition to ideally making the battles and whatnot feel more consistent, will also hopefully make it that much more impactful when the weird Force stuff starts to get cranked up to the point of seriously competing with that and beyond.
Like, imagine Ahsoka holding back a 1e29-watt orbital bombardment by a thought and a hand gesture.
Any self-consciousness Ahsoka may have felt before about acting like a half-feral carnivore in front of people will be gone after like five minutes in the company of Barabels.
"Huh. I guess some things never change."
-Ahsoka, laying eyes on a Rendili Dreadnaught in the GA Navy.
