center hill
nathaniel and lorna @ofwrxth
Five years was a long time but family was always going to stay the same. Nate showed up to the trailer with gifts for his nephew, thinking it was funny how the youngest of them was the first to have a kid. He was too busy for that life, hence why this was the first chance he had to pop by Center Hill. He kept his thoughts to himself about the trailer, mostly. They found a way to come out with questions and suggestions instead. "There's this er...little apartment just a few streets from me that's decent and kind of good rent. I think about 1,500 region?" he shrugged, catching a toy that Rowen threw at him and laughing slightly before he threw it back. "I could always pitch in..." If Fenrir's bike shop wage didn't cut it. It wasn't that Nathaniel judged people, or looked down his nose for any struggles but this was his sister. In Center Hill. "Miles probably would too." He added because while their brother probably didn't care where Lorna was as long as she was happy, Nate would be able to convince him to help.

Nate made a hesitant laugh as they walked, somewhat exposed with Delanie's comment. He was a book snob and a literature snob, a little bit of everything snob and those were crucial conversations he had with her that cemented this rather long running...crush sounded childish. Admiration? That's better. "Yeah, basically most modern literature." he grinned at her quickly. "Which is a bad comparison for your thing, then? You dislike most modern art?" he clicked his fingers as a light bulb went off. "Classics girl, right? Renaissance and all that?" The more Nate learned about her the more he...admired. Laughing as they reached the line, he made a subtle step in front of her and offered a playful shrug. "Hey, don't even mention it. Most people think I'm a little bit of a dick already. I don't think anyone would think you were rude, though. Probably wished they could escape as smoothly as you did it."
"It's not, not my thing." Delanie shrugged, walking towards the closest truck and feeling thankful for the familiar face. "I mean, it's probably obvious what I think. The whole art is about perception thing. There's probably plenty of books people like that you think are awful." she smirked slightly, choosing to word it that way around instead of the opposite to appeal to Nate's pessimism. Lanie then waved a hand over her shoulder to the show, or not show, behind them. "But that is er...I don't know. I think managing expectations comes to mind?" she laughed, coming to a stop in the line and smiling up at him. "So thanks for being my scapegoat. I know nobody would have cared if I just walked away but it made me feel better making you look rude at the same time."

center hill
nathaniel and fenrir @blackheartatl
He was hoping he wouldn't catch Fen on the way out of the trailer but obviously it happened. What was there to say? Thanks for knocking up my sister and bringing her to Center Hill? Sorry for your loss...but Center Hill? He was raised better than to hate someone for no valid reason, so he didn't hate Fenrir. It was just a slow, impossible to ignore feeling that Lorna deserved to be somewhere safe. "Oh, hey." he coughed, stepping down from the trailer and heading towards his car. He tried to make it obvious that he wanted to keep on walking. Places to be. "I got a deadline this week so had to make it short but we're er, talking about dinner somewhere sometime soon. Y'know with Miles too. Think that'd be nice, right?"

"Than-oh." Nate's gratitude was cut off quickly as he glanced from his phone and to his brother's outfit, scoffing slightly. "I don't know what's worse, if she did pick it out or if we chose this..." he pointed between them. "All on our own." There was a small smirk where laughter should have been because there were more pressing matters than looking identical to his identical twin brother, something Nate grew tired of quickly. But, even the smirk faltered as Miles hopped right into the conversation all on his own, filling in the blanks. Nate sipped his drink, ignoring all of the statements made as he then gestured to the bar. "What're you getting? On me." he offered at first, maybe a fruity cocktail will get Miles on side. Who even knew any more. "I have a few objections, if that's allowed." he then said, shifting slightly to look at his brother. "First, I don't think you sound like that. You think that I think it, but I don't. Second, I've never thought money answered everyone's problems so this idea of me being some greedy little capitalist needs to stop too. Third..." he stopped to smile to the bartender that arrived, placing their order and looking back to Miles. "Second, I just think being realistic about Center Hill isn't even a bad thing?"

He wishes Nate would pick more homely places for a catch up but then again it's only a quick drink. No doubt in Miles' mind that his brother wants a secret meeting about Fenrir and Lorna living in Center Hill. Like it matters too much, the guy is huge and the family is huge so if there's any trouble it's more than likely going to get fixed very quickly. "Nice shirt." is the first thing he says to Nate, noticing they're wearing a variation of the same kind. "Mom get that for you?" he adds with a laugh, settling at the bar and tapping it with a quick beat. "Alright well, Savoy Lounge just a few weeks after Lori gets back, adamant I was on time. What's the problem? May as well make it quick." he cuts to the chase because he knows Nathaniel has probably been stewing on his ideas ever since hearing Lorna was moving home. "I can even get to the part right away where I say, hey Nate, chill out man. Life is groovy. Not everyone needs a stonking wallet to be happy, they got life in their lungs." he shrugs with a shit-eating grin. "That's what you think I sound like, right?"

"I promise, I'm not doing anything." Nate laughed, holding his hands up but conveniently so his phone screen was facing Lorna with the apartment listing in full view. "It's just a suggestion, you know? Like an idea, for the back burner maybe to talk to Fen about at some point." he mentioned as he waved around the phone a little closer to her face. He chuckled at Ro's copy of her words, tilting his head to the side at his nephew. "You're meant to have my back, man. Come on, it's three of us guys against your mom. Those are the rules." he mock whispered to make the boy laugh before glancing back to Lorna with a slight sigh. "I'm not worrying but you know, I get a lot of articles land on my desk and most of them are to do with this place." And if Nate really didn't want to bite his tongue, he'd argue that Fen knew that was the case and just didn't care. However, Lorna had much more to deal with than Center Hill and Nate let up easier than he would have under different circumstances. He could hear Miles' little hippie voice, that he'd deny thinking his brother sounded like, reminding him that happiness sometimes mattered more. "Yeah, I'm starving. Throw whatever at me." he laughed, putting away his phone after saving the apartment listing to his bookmarks. "So do you like it? Here, I mean? And they're all...nice?"
Lorna is happy to see her brother, she really is. She knows how busy he's been, how busy both of them are, which is why she's never taken their distance to heart. When Rowan was born, their mother had flown out but this is their first time meeting her son. She watches as Rowan stares up at his uncle with wide eyes when he first arrives and then how easily his affection is won by his uncle playing with him. Lorna glances from Ro tossing the toy to her brother catching it. "C'mon, Nate, you don't need to do this," she laughs softly because she doesn't want to fight. She knows that Center Hill doesn't have the best reputation but Wolf's family was far bigger than hers and it felt more fair to be near them, especially when hers was much smaller and busier. "I know it doesn't look like much but...it's new," she offers, leaving off the ish because she knows that will just prove his point. "I appreciate it," Lorna nods, chuckling when Rowan mimics her, 'precciate it, "but please don't worry?" She knows that's asking the sky not to be blue but says it anyway before nodding at him. "Because if you worry then mom worries and you know I'll never hear the end of it," the younger Adair laughs and stands, gesturing at her brother. "Do you want anything to eat or drink? We just baked this morning."

Hey so, now that Miles and Ivy finally pulled the plug on that inevitable thing, do you wanna go somewhere? No. Sad about Miles and Ivy, huh? Can I take you to dinner? Nope. Miles really was a thorn in his side when it came to Delanie King and the worst part was, he probably didn't even know it. And if he did know, he'd probably laugh about it into Nate's face. He stopped approaching her once the show began but truthfully, he wouldn't have been able to say a thing about what the performance even was. Nate was too busy reading Delanie's expressions in reaction to it, just as surprised as she was when she turned around to face him. Really sad about Miles and Ivy, how's she holding up? Do you want to get coffee? His inner voice sounded at the same time as Delanie's silent gesture and Nate nodded quickly, falling into step with her as they tore from the small audience. "Not your thing?"

It wasn't live art show like the name suggested, Delanie quickly realized as much while she watched the artist practically drag themselves across the large canvas and call the aftermath of paint their creation. But, she had somehow found herself standing near the front of the small gathering- having to feign intrigue and feeling too rude to back away. Until she finally mustered the confidence and turned on her heel, noticing Nathaniel just a few paces behind. Caught in the act of slipping away, she smiled quickly and turned to face the show once more. Then back again to glance at Nate as she gestured erratically with her hand. "Do you want to get coffee?" she mimed to him, already side stepping from the crowd towards the trucks.
