#naruto: i can't believe orochimaru is kidnapping you

the 2 page spreads in naruto really make me appreciate haikyuu paneling all that much more because for a lot of naruto's 2 page spreads it really doesn't need to be 2 pages the layout works equally well with single pages whereas with haikyuu's double page spreads they really take advantage of the wide format in a way naruto doesn't. anyways haikyuu has some of the best paneling and page layouts i have seen in any manga (houseki no kuni is another good one).

I miss those times when Naruot used to go feral like in the Land of Waves or Valley of the End 1. Naruto needs a design where he gets fluffy fox ears and a tail.

Naruto and houseki no kuni have opposite approaches to callbacks. Both series will at time purposefully mirror or invoke earlier parts of the manga. The difference is that naruto will devote pages/episodes to the same flashbacks so that the audience can immediately remember the previous scene. By contrast hnk has no flashbacks ever and expects the audience to remember the whole manga and draw the comparisons themselves some of these are very subtle like half a panel of a dandelion seed or the shadow of wings.

i caved and read ch 700 and its meh ok which means that its boruto that made everything bad. like its been like 15 years a lot of things can change, im not necessarily against naruto marrying hinata having 2 kids and becoming hokage or sasuke and sakura having a daughter. what i am against is sakura being defined by her cringe middleschool crush and pining for sasuke when he obviously doesn't care about her, like just say they're divorced or never married but wanted a kid. please let sakura get on with her life. or naruto and hinata marrying is fine and naruto having a son and having to deal with the same antics he did as a kid is fine but naruto being a deadbeat absent father isn't. wow the boruto writers really messed up because the ideas from ch 700 aren't the worst. a better take on the ideas would be show how naruto has matured and now reflects on his past actions with new insight since now he has been on both sides as the troublemaking brat and the responsible adult and he understands that boruto is acting out because he wants attention and responds by being more affectionate and making time for him. also bolt and salad.... great names as usual.

can't believe naruto isn't wearing his head-protector in the epilogue, he loves that thing.

ah so the anime clarifies that sasuke is seeing naruto's memories including naruto's meeting with itachi in the war. cant believe im saying this but i think the anime might have done this one part better. makes sasuke acknowledging naruto more impactful since its now also sasuke giving up his vision of the lonely hokage for naruto and itachi's its-the-villages-acknowledgement-that-makes-a-hokage, so sasuke is also indirectly supporting naruto's dream of being hokage and abandoning his own.

"Oh sure, lock up sasuke and not the guy that murdered and tortured hundreds of kids, killed and experimented on thousands of peoples, kidnapping minors and adults, committing kagecide twice against the third hokage and the kazekage, attempted murder… destroying konoha and half its shinobi forces, almost instigating another world war…" Orochimaru would have so many treason charges against him lol for selling state secrets, there's also his joining the international terrorist ring, yeah the world war he was plotting, all the random side characters he or his schemes have killed, the rampant human experimentation, kidnapping, murder, the bodies at his feet are endless. I like to imagine that between all the people Orochimaru's screwed over and the snake summons that didn't really like him to begin with, someone killed him. He dies off-screen like he deserves. (Boruto? Boruto isn't real, what are you talking about?)

Imagine a better timeline where naruto goes backpacking across the world with sasuke and shows up 2 years later with a mullet and covered in fuuinjutsu tattoos

its juvenile and its generally because he can't wrap his head around the idea that sasuke has made his own independent decision to join orochimaru/the akatsuki. its "give sasuke back" because he does still consider this to be essentially a kidnapping no matter how willing sasuke seemed, because naruto KNOWS sasuke, LOVES him, and refuses to believe that sasuke genuinely thinks this is the right path for him. but also sometimes its really just demanding gaara's body because he can't stand to see deidara treat it so disrespectfully since naruto cares for gaara and can also see Himself prone on the ground like that, or it's saying sasuke's MY best friend and i won't let you take him from me

Okay but if he cares so much about her why did he not react at all when shin took her with him? He literally expressed more interest in the jutsu than what happened with his wife. And I can't really see it being excused with "he just knows how capable she is of defending herself" because naruto's been in easier situations and yet sasuke showed concern even if we know that naruto's powers are god-like. Just sayin'...

Oh my god, this again... Sorry Anon but I’m gonna have to be blunt about this because I’m astonished. Do you know how absolutely ridiculous it sounds for you to say something as preposterous as how Sasuke apparently “expressed more interest in the jutsu than what happened with his wife.” Are you actually serious? So you think that just because Sasuke said something to express the fact that he was taken off guard by the enemy revealing that they had a teleportation jutsu, it means that he cared more about the nature of the technique rather than his wife? Are you actually serious?

So by that logic, during the scene below, you must also think that Naruto was more fascinated by the fact that Gaara transformed again, rather than being concerned about Sakura and how she was in danger of being crushed correct? Just because Naruto chose to comment on it since it surprised him?

That‘s just very stupid Anon, plain and simple. There’s no need for me to say anything more about that, I honestly can’t believe I just read that.

Moving on, people always use Sasuke’s calm and collected demeanour as evidence to suggest he doesn’t care, which just shows how little they understand him. There’s more than enough evidence to prove he cares about his wife. I could very easily bring up a plethora of examples showing how much Sasuke cares for her, because this one example doesn't prove anything Anon, but okay, let’s talk about it. Following Sakura’s capture, Sasuke was shown to be in a hurry to get the information necessary to go and find Sakura as soon as possible. He was recklessly rushing through Orochimaru’s hideout because he wanted to find Sakura as soon as possible:

He was then shown to be very agitated and low on tolerance in this scene because he’s clearly not happy that someone kidnapped his wife, further emphasised by the hiding of his eyes:

His patience was once again shown to be running very thin during this scene, as he clearly wanted to leave as soon as possible:

Furthermore, Sasuke actually shouted at Naruto and Sarada here, not just because he was concerned for Sarada’s safety, but also because it was more valuable time being lost:

But despite wanting to save Sakura as soon as possible, that doesn’t mean Sasuke views her as some damsel who can’t take care of herself. He knows more than anyone how capable she is:

But just because he knows that she can take care of herself, doesn’t mean he can’t be concerned about her, as any loving husband would:

Lastly Anon, you say “Naruto's been in easier situations and yet Sasuke showed concern even if we know that Naruto's powers are god-like”, but that’s not true, and there has also never been a time when Sasuke showed more concern for Naruto’s safety than Sakura’s either. The only time that came close, was when he prioritised Naruto during the battle against Kaguya, but that was because Naruto was pivotal to defeating her, not because Sasuke cared more about him.

As a certified Sasuke Stan could you tell me what Sasuke did, like, wrong? There's that scene in next gen where Sasuke is like orochimaru I can't believe you're not locked up and oro is like you should be too. But how on earth has Sasuke done anything on par with him? He captured bee and killed danzo? That's it? And only one of those things can be held against him? He doesn't deserve this.

[[ This is subjective, but although they are different crimes, both, within the naruto universe, aka “not my opinion”, usually warrant the person being locked up. I don’t agree with the reasons they would want Sasuke locked up, and frankly, the Leaf Village needs to kiss Sasuke’s ass for the genocide of his clan, they can’t for a second think Sasuke owes them anything.

But we’re operating on the village’s and villager’s logic, not mine. 

Say, a person commits a robbery, and another commits a murder. Both of those are punishable  by jail time. Even though they are different crimes. 

When Sasuke mentions to Orochimaru that he should be locked up, he means for the crimes he knows about. Kidnapping, experimentation, betraying his village, attacking his village, killing the Third, etc. All of these crimes within Naruto’s context easily constitute jail time and even execution. 

When Orochimaru mentions that Sasuke should also be locked up, he definitely means the crimes that other people think Sasuke should be in jail for. He abandoned his village (seen as being a traitor), joined up with Orochimaru (a known traitor), joined Akatsuki and worked with them, attacked a village and tried to kill its Jinchuuriki, and threatened war against the Leaf Village. Danzo was never outed as the person who orchestrated the massacre, so sadly, killing Danzo is counted against Sasuke. 

Orochimaru and Sasuke haven’t done the same types of things, no...but the universe still considers those crimes punishable by jail. In chapter 627, Kakashi mentions Sasuke is a nuke-nin. The punishment for Nuke-nin is automatically death. This is all used to say Sasuke should be incredibly grateful he hasn’t been killed or imprisoned.
