hc;; (for botw!li.nk) He doesn't really like his first name "L.ink". I think that the name is always tied to being the Hero of Legend. It doesn’t mean every child named L.ink will become the hero, but for some reason, every hero does bear the name of L.ink. So it’s always felt impersonal to him, like it’s someone else’s name. But he goes with it out of respect for his parents and people pleasing nature. Shion, which is his middle name, just feels like his own name and no one else, so he ends up using it more with people that are close to him like friends and family.

lmao if youve been around since the beginning youll remember that this was one of my first posts- in fact i think you can find it linked in the first creepypasta masterlist in my pinned! been wanting to "return to form" so to speak and write general group hcs- this post may contain different hcs compared to the og, but it def will have more characters! i think i might remake a bunch of older posts since i like comparing how my hcs and writing has changed over time!! characters: slenderman, splendorman, eyeless jack, laughing jack, masky, hoodie, ticci toby, nina the killer, jane the killer, jeff the killer, puppeteer, bloody painter notes: reader is gn, any gendered petnames will be given an alt if applicable (ex. princess/prince), very short post, only really contains what they call you and what you call them in return, no real meat to it tbh, like a snack post, all characters are referred to as "them" not because of any pronoun hc i just copy/pasted it over and over and didnt feel like editing it cws: none

SLENDERMAN

They like calling you: Love, Darling, and Dear, and sometimes he simply says your name

You call them: He doesn't have much of a preference, but I can see Hon being a default... something about calling an old forest monster Hon feels amusing... Handsome also feels right

SPLENDORMAN

They like calling you: Honey, Dear, Schnookums, Sweetie, really he's open to calling you almost anything! He has a love for the more ridiculous names!

You call them: He doesn't have much of a preference either but if you call him Sweetiepie hes going to be head over heels... another one that just feels right...

MASKY

They like calling you: He doesnt talk all that much, but he does sometimes leave you notes and very rarely signs... on the occasion he leaves a note for you or speaks, he simply says your name! That's really it!

You call them: Prefers you to not refer to him with any name, though some petnames are on thin ice... Babe is the only one he seems to be receptive to

HOODIE

They like calling you: Looooves leaving you notes and makes a namesign for you, doesnt speak at all btw... can see him calling you by your name, Babe, Baby.. as an aside I can see Brian being a Babe/Baby dude so imagine that carries over

They like calling you: He feels a little off calling you something that isnt some variation of your name, it could be because its different so hes not used to the mouth feel... tends to call you by a shortened version of your name

You call them: similarly hes not used to being called anything other than his name, at least not when it comes to positive things.. but he does seem to like cutie patootie as a joke

JEFF THE KILLER

They like calling you: Babe, Baby, jokingly Dumbass, Lovely.. though Babe is his default!

You call them: Hon, his name, and if youre feeling a little funny you can try to call him a dumb lovey dovey name- but just know hes going to give you the stink eye

JANE THE KILLER

They like calling you: You name for the most part, but I can see her calling you Hon!

You call them: Prefers her name but is not opposed to you calling her sweetheart!

NINA THE KILLER

They like calling you: will call you every name under the sun and may make her own to keep things fresh! its always a wild card!

You call them: doesnt care what you call her, shes going to wear it like a badge of honor and shes going to obsess over whatever nickname you give her

LAUGHING JACK

They like calling you: it comes as a shock to no one when i say that he calls you any variation of the sweet names... sweetheart, sweetpea, sweet thing, and so on... sometimes calls you sugar or toots if you let him

You call them: looooves when you call him lovey/lovely or any pie based name- honey pie for example

EYELESS JACK

They like calling you: tends to also call you by your name... hes not too big on affection, though rest assured he does love you. bro has little to no dating experience, he has ZERO game/lh

You call them: is a little picky with names, allows you to call him by his name.. the sillest he lets you go is calling him love bug

PUPPETEER

They like calling you: dear, dearest, lovely, and darling are his usual go tos!

You call them: you sometimes call him casanova as a joke but its slowly turned into one of your go to names, likes being called prince as well every now and then

They like calling you: defaults to your name but will sometimes call you beautiful/handsome, othertimes he might call you sunshine

You call them: pretty boy, dear are the ones hes most receptive to. he may not bother responding if you dare call him pookie .. he prefers his name above all else, though

havent been posting much lately but ive been doing a lot of slugsign. this is a stock phrase regarding one of my ocs in four different fonts- cursive slugsign, standard slugsign, blocky slugsign, and an attempt at thuluth-style slugsign calligraphy. translation and other tidbits under cut.

features a new sign that im debuting because this is my dialect and i can choose the weirdness! the "name" indicator sign (a sign similar to "me", but with more of a self-headpatting motion! i'm using it to denote that the following signs are a namesign. also, the plain L sign is pretty much a silent sign! it's just to indicate a pause in the dialogue, like a comma- mimicking the spoken slugsign mannerisms further.

also, see those three dots next to "cycle"? that is to indicate that the sign (cycle) is being repeated three times, to indicate that its not just plural (which is 2 dots), but a Lot of said sign (hence the 3 dots)

also, note: the "follow" sign used in this actually "wait"! this is because i fucked up a little 🥰

TRANSLATION:

"[name][enlightened]-follow-you sleeps [sentence end]. my [name][enlightened]-follow-you [pause], i sleep-many-cycles [pause], i not-eat-(for)-many-cycles. [sentence end]. sleep-many-cycles."

this fic is simply so good. i really like fics set early into the chain's meeting, and this one shows exactly why i like them! they are bonding and learning to care about each other and it is great

this one hurts right in the heart. the way the fairies are portrayed here, and the relationship they have with hyrule, is so well done and i especially love the differing views held about hyrule's era amongst the chain - it all felt very real

Sky is not particularly close with any of the heroes, and none enough to feel free to express himself properly too, or so he thinks. Still, when emotions are running high and he's at the end of his rope, he's surprised to find one of his brothers ready with open arms, and of course it's the one person nobody else believes is capable of it. Or Five times Sky got a hug from Legend and one time where he gets to initiate it.

god i love sky&legend fics, and this one is amazing bc of how the both of them are portrayed. sky is a little more bitter and legend being the one to reach out hurts. yet another fic i have reread a few times now

Hey! So I saw your slugsign stuff a few days ago and it has caused some pretty serious brain rot (pun intended!).

I’m planning out a fun little comic where the scugs work together to rebuild moon (got the idea from a Reddit post) and I was wondering if you had any ideas for slugsign names for the main slugcats? (Arti,hunter,etc.)

Because yeah, I can just call Arti scav predator, but then it gets confusing after a while with all of them. I don’t see much reason to use name-signs like this in co-op because you’d just use “you” instead, so you probably don’t have any. But do you have any ideas for them? (Also, is there a sign for ‘friend’? Because I think the scugs calling Rivulet Moon friend would be adorable)

Ooh, this is a great question! Hope you don't mind that I showed it to Phen so we could brainstorm, lol. Also goes without saying that this comic concept goes INSANE and I'm so excited to see it.

In-lore, you can either use an existing word or some unique motion. Whether it's high (jumping/standing on toes for in-lore), middle (standing normally), or low (crouching) also matters, since it can indicate personality and how the scug presents themself. I'm going to be using existing words here for ease of interpretation.

^I should also note that in-lore, [me] is held while doing the other part of the name sign, using both arms at once. It's only sequential in-game cuz you can only use one arm.

- Gourmand is probably some variety of "I make food"; simply translated as [me][make](food). Make could be like, pressing your hands together in a pantomime of how Gourm crafts in-game. Likely a middle namesign, but low could work.

-it would be REALLY FUNNY if Arti's name was something like "I kill scavs", but a cooler alternative could be "I am a weapon", which would be signed [me][object](kill). Hers is a high namesign because of the kill motion.

-Spearmaster is a bit difficult to pin down.. maybe "I hunt with spears"? That'd be [me](predator)[object](kill), which is pretty long! Using a unique motion here could cut down the length.

-Rivulet could be [me](fast) ! If you want it more water related, an alternative is [me](rain). [Fast] is signed by pointing at a down diagonal, then up diagonal, and [rain] by doing rapid, tiny hops. Definitely a high namesign.

-For Saint, "I am peaceful" as [me](peace) is the obvious choice, but I feel like "I cycle", [me](cycle), is more befitting of their.. deal. Maybe they use both. You could actually do either a low or middle namesign.

-Conversational slugsign can get pretty hands-on, like with [you] involving patting the other person, so "friend" could be literally hugging the person in question! Hugging yourself is how you say "friend" in the abstract.

Building on that, Monk's name could be "I am a friend", signed [me][friend]. Also a middle namesign, but maybe low or high? depends on how you characterize Monk.

-Survivor's might be something like "I do not die" or "I persist", which could be translated in multiple ways.. [me][cycle][no](kill) is how that'd be signed, but that's long. Inventing a unique motion would be better here.

-I imagine Hunter's is simply [me](predator), literally "I am a predator/hunter". One of the few low namesigns.

I believe that's all the canon scugs! Ofc, you don't need to use these, just what came to mind.

I should also note that, for the longer ones, I'm using an as-of-yet unposted grammar system we've been working on! It's kinda complex, and we're still ironing out the kinks. Maybe I'll post abt it soon.
