This is a quote from another ship (gudacas from fgo) but I always imagine Alexander telling John "But you're going to do it anyway, right?" Before he does something reckless. Because he always was reckless and never had much care for his wellbeing. Alexander always tried to talk him out of it.

And then those words echo in John's head before he charges in on those redcoats on the combahee river that day.
