Thotty Thursday: Part 2

The second installment of Thotty Thursday is upon us. Rejoice, heathens!

Now, let me just say that I’m picking dudes at random while trying to keep things balanced between old shows and new ones but ... y’all really bout to notice some patterns the more we do this so I’m just gonna wait for someone to call me out tbh. 😰

FYI, I like to think of myself as an equal opportunist thirster and if a dude is hot then he’s hot. I’m not one to question this shit. But when you get right down to it I have like four types: high IQ smarty pants, dummy thicc, dad and bad boy bastard. Our next snack belongs in the last category, without question.

Full disclosure, I started reading Magi: Labyrinth of Magic before the anime aired and his name was originally translated as Judal so that’s what he’s always going to be in my mind. The official translation is Judar, and I respect that, but at the end of the day I do not know her

Now, the setting alone had my interest PIQUED right out the gate because I love Middle Eastern inspired aesthetics and I truly don’t think it’s utilized as a setting half as much as it deserves to be. It’s very beautiful imo and the anime team did a pretty good job of capturing that vibe but if I’m being honest I think the manga was better (up to a point)

However there ain’t nothing quite like seeing your man move on screen or hearing his voice with your own two ears and when I say Judal put on a show each time he showed up ... 🥵

When he was still a (too precious for words) child, he was abducted by an evil cult so that they could manipulate him and use his powers to influence shit in a bad way. The exact details of what they did to him are hazy, but based on the snippets we did get it seems like they basically put Judal on a pedestal and raised him as if he were some kind of god or a king

I’m talking waiting on him hand and foot, giving him whatever he wanted, essentially worshiping him and using persuasive mind control magic to convince him that he’s the best thing to happen since sliced bread

And it worked

Can you tell exactly how fucked up this kid is right now

Keep in mind here that I’m not saying his screwed up personality isn’t the result of some seriously bad mojo

Magi are supposed to be what tips the scales of fate in this setting which, generally, means for the betterment of the world and this whack ass cult pointedly steered him down a path he otherwise would not have gone

But it’s this tragic past of his that really brings the whole package together

He could be a mean pretty boy for no other reason than because he wants to and I’d still drop into a split on his cock

I like mean for the sake of mean too

It’s just that knowing what made him the way he is gives us the perfect amount of insight to truly feel sympathetic despite all the bad shit he has done and will continue to do

Personally, it makes me want to be the one to show him genuine, tender affection no matter how much he’s initially appalled by the mere suggestion so in a lot of ways it’s similar to how I feel towards Hiei

But that doesn’t mean I want him to change and start being n - 🤢 start being nice - 🤮

He’s perfect just the way he is and there’s just something about big, confident egos that gets me going like little else

And Judal seems to truly believe he’s the greatest gift the world has ever received and he’s not wrong about that imo so yeah he definitely has an attitude problem

But that also means he’s a spoiled brat tho and he’s definitely one of those dudes who needs to be dommed on occasion to really get the full experience 👀

I am not too shy to pin him down and milk his cock for all it’s worth, that is all I’m saying fam

But he also spends a lot of time in this worlds version of ancient China complete with all the dramatic robes and elegant architecture to really set the mood

He has an entire imperial palace on lock and if that doesn’t get you even a little bit horny then idk what to tell you

The royal family for the most part treats him like one of their own despite not being related in any way, if that tells you exactly how much clout he pulls in this setting, and even tho they’re essentially using him for their own gain Judal doesn’t seem to mind it one bit

He likes being at the top and having the freedom to do whatever he wants so if that means doing a little dirty work for the Kou Empire then so be it

And I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be a ride or die on these little errands

Like, just imagine this pretty boy pulling up to you on his flying carpet (that’s not a joke or something I just pulled out of my ass btw) and asking if you want to come back to his crib for some fun

Side Tracks opinions part 2: Virgil

(Here we go again! I think I may have less to say about Virgil’s than Janus’, so I’ll try to make this one shorter)

1) Sunrise, Sunset: This ones about Virgil when he was with the darksides. Virgil is beginning to get tired of his life as a darkside and the monotony of it (“sunrise, sunset, swiftly go the days. Sunrise, sunset you wake up then you undress, it always is the same”). He feels like something is changing in him, but doubts that he will ever be able to escape the routine that he’s been living in for so long (“Because you've changed, Yeah, you've changed” “from a cradle to a casket, there is no way to escape” “The sunrise, the sunsets, you're hopeful and then you regret, the circle never breaks”).

2) Let’s Kill Tonight: Some of Virgil songs can be very vague and it can be hard to pinpoint who the song is focused toward (this is one of them). My interpretation of the song is that this takes place during Virgil’s first appearance with the light sides (“Make room we're taking over here” “Show them all you're not the ordinary type”) Perhaps the dark sides were aware of Virgil leaving and so Virgil’s initial view of the light sides was a bit more spiteful and angry than we thought. With this interpretation I like to assume that it was Janus’ plan to let Virgil out, perhaps in an attempt to get all the dark sides accepted, but it backfired when Virgil realized that the light sides weren’t as bad as he was raised to believe.

3) Sally’s Song: After the last song, this song shows Virgil’s realization that perhaps he does want to be with the light sides. He really cares about Thomas and wants to be with him, but he’s worried about whether or not he’ll be helpful and worthy (“And though I'd like to stand by him, Can't shake this feeling that I have” “And will he see? How much he means to me. I think it's not to be” “All though I'd like to join the crowd, In their enthusiastic loud. Try as I may It doesn't last”)

4) It Ends Tonight: Virgil is starting to be accepted, woot woot (“When darkness turns to light, It ends tonight, it ends tonight” “A weight is lifted on this evening”). Virgil seems to start to feel a lot of anger towards the other dark sides at this point. He feels as if he’s been tricked by them and that Thomas needed him all along (“A falling star, at least I fall alone”). He’s now showing anger and frustration towards the dark sides that really hasn’t been prevalent in the playlist up until this point. I think he’s realized that they’ve either been using him, lying to him, or fooling him (“I look at you with such disdain” “Now I'm on my own side, It's better than being on your side”).

5) I’d Hate to be You When People find out What this Song is About: Now that Virgil is with the light sides, he’s worried that he may not be good enough or helpful enough for Thomas (“Well, I'm thinking of the worst things That I could say to you” “But I'm tongue tied and terrified of what I'll say” And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy, When I asked you believe me” “I could only sing you sad songs”). He’s so worried about hurting Thomas because of his dark side origins that he doesnt understand why Thomas is trying so hard to accept him (“You never let go, But I let go”). He also refrains from telling Thomas about his true past probably out of fear or worry that Thomas won’t want him anymore (“But I never told you everything, I'm losing hope and fading dreams”).

6) A Decade under the Influence: Virgil is anxious™️. Despite how worried he is about his ability to help Thomas, he knows that he has to try and that he has to protect Thomas from the other dark sides (“Well, I've got a bad feeling about this, I've got a bad feeling about this” “To hell with you and all your friends, To hell with you and all your friends” “I’m a nervous wreck”).

7) Thnks fr th Mmrs: HUGE, SASSY middle finger to Janus. Honestly, thats it. Virgil has been fully accepted by Thomas and the light side gang and he is LOVING it. This song is just Virgil rubbing it in Janus’ face how much better off he is without him and the dark sides (“Who does he think he is?” “Thanks for the memories even though they weren't so great”). He also flaunts the fact that Patton is a much better parent/authority figure than Janus ever was (“He tastes like you, only sweeter”).

8) Be Calm: This ones cuteeeee. Virgil has been with the light sides for some time now and has begun to understand that he can be helpful to thomas (“As I walk through the streets of my new city, My back feeling much better, I suppose”). The entire song just feels like Virgil helping Thomas through an anxiety attack or some panic of sorts. He relates to Thomas on the feeling and tries his best to help him relax (“I close my eyes, I tell myself to breathe” “And be calm. Be calm. I know you feel like you are breaking down. Oh I know that it gets so hard sometimes. Be calm.” “Take it from me, I've been there a thousand times.” “You hate your pulse because it thinks you're still alive” “It just gets so hard sometimes”). Theyre starting to bond and finally understand each other and that is just super sweet 💜💜💜.

9) I’m not Okay (I Promise): Honestly... I’m not super sure about this one. It’s another vague one as to who it is aimed toward, but I’m just gonna assume it’s either Thomas or Patton. Virgil is feeling like he isn’t being listened to and needs to be taken more seriously (“I never want to let you down or have you go” “I told you time and time again you sing the words but don't know what it means” “I held you close as we both shook for the last time” “You said you read me like a book, but the pages all are torn and frayed” “But you really need to listen to me, Because I'm telling you the truth”).

10) Imaginary: Despite now being a light side, Virgil still worries about the darker sides that are hidden within Thomas (“In my field of paper flowers And candy clouds of lullaby. I lie inside myself for hours And watch my purple sky fly over me”). He knows that they will try to get out at any moment and may be harmful to Thomas, so he has to keep his guard up. (“Don't say I'm out of touch, With this rampant chaos your reality” “I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge” “Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming, Cannot cease for the fear of silent nights”).

11) Soft Shock: Oof guys... I really, really don’t know here. This song is SO romantic that it’s hard to even imagine why it’s on Virgil’s playlist to begin with. There is also a vague “you” referenced like in most of Virgil’s songs and I frankly have no clue who it’s supposed to be. I’ll just list some lines that I think are important and maybe you all could help me figure it out. “Well it's a shock, shock to your soft side” “Summer moon (this is like a period of summer where its very warm and things are in bloom)” “Better, back together” “Catch your shut eyes in my room”.

12) The Good that Won’t Come out: Virgil is still worried about his dark past and how that will affect the others and Thomas. He knows that he needs to tell Thomas, but he’s worried that if he does, Thomas will only be able to see the bad things that Virgil brings with him (“I do this thing where I think I'm real sick, But I won't go to the doctor to find out about it 'Cause they make you stay real still in a real small space As they chart up your insides and put them on display. They'd see all of it, all of me, all of it” “All of the good that won't come out of me And all the stupid lies I hide behind. It's such a big mistake, Lying here in your warm embrace”). He finishes the song out by comparing himself to his past, dark side friends (“Let's talk about all our friends who lost the war” “It's all of the good that won't come out of them And all the stupid lies they hide behind”).

13) Sick Sad World: Again... I’m sorry guys but this song doesn’t seem that deep to me (at least nothing stood out. Basically, all I got is that Virgil knows he makes a lot of mistakes, but he does his best to fix them (“My head's a permanent mess And I can't think for the stress” “I close my eyes and pretend That the ground beneath me has disappeared” “Rewind and overwrite, Hope life begins at twenty-nine”). Virgil also still seems to think that he isn’t being listened to enough and that he isn’t helping as much as he wants to with the light sides (“So what, is this is as good as it gets?” “So won't you let me in”).

14) Ignorance: Another Janus song! Whose shocked? Anyone? Yeah, me neither 😂. But this one is SUPER interesting as it gives us some insight into what Janus and Virgil’s relationship was like before Virgil left. The two seemed to be very close and perhaps had similar pessimistic views on the world (“Yeah, the friends who stuck together. We wrote our names in blood”). Virgil knows that the change in him was for the better and he wants Janus to realize this too, but he isnt about to feel bad for Janus if he refuses to see the truth (“But I guess you can't accept that the change is good” “If I'm a bad person, you don't like me, Well, I guess I'll make my own way” “This is the best thing that could have happened. Any longer and I wouldn't have made it. It's not a war, no, it's not a rapture. I'm just a person, but you can't take it” “The same tricks that, that once fooled me, They won't get you anywhere. I'm not the same kid from your memory, Well, now I can fend for myself”). Now, a line that I’m sure people will see as confirmation of Ignorance being the next side, has a different meaning to me: “Ignorance is your new best friend”. To me, this proves that Ignorance is a part of Janus. Virgil believes that Janus will be stuck in the dark forever because he is ignorant to what the real world brings. Janus is so stuck in his hatred for society and his lack of trust for others that he ignores information that could prove his thoughts wrong. That is ignorance at it’s core, and Janus is being intentionally ignorant to the fact that Virgil becoming a light side was a good thing.

15) The Ice is Getting Thinner: Another song that solidifies that Virgil and Janus were actually friends at one point (“We're not the same, dear, as we used to be. The seasons have changed and so have we”). Virgil knew that him and Janus were growing apart back when he split from the dark sides and he knew it was for the better, but it still hurt him (“There was little we could say, and even less we could do, To stop the ice from getting thinner under me and you” “And it saddens me to say, But we both know, well, it's true. That the ice was getting thinner Under me and you”). This perhaps shows that the ill-will between the two is not really due to Virgil hating Janus, but instead a sort of broken heart dynamic. Virgil knew he needed to leave, but Janus may not have been ready and may not have understood why someone he cared so much for would just leave him for the others.

16) Overkill: This one seems fairly straight forward to me. Virgil is scared of the dark sides and the implications their acceptance may have for Thomas. He can feel them lurking close by and is on edge because of it. He wants to protect Thomas from them, but at the same time thinks that he may be overreacting (“I can't get to sleep. I think about the implications” “Especially at night. I worry over situations. I know we'll be alright. Perhaps it's just imagination” “Day after day it reappears. Night after night my heartbeat shows the fear. Ghosts appear and fade away” “Especially at night I worry over situations that I know will be alright. It's just overkill.”

17) Under pressure: This ones a bit hard to decipher, but I’ve got an idea. Virgil really respects and values Patton as one of Thomas’ sides, but the other dark sides seem to disagree. Virgil wishes that they would be able to see Patton in the same way that he does and perhaps then they would be accepted by Thomas (“Watching some good friends screaming "Let me out!"” “Can't we give ourselves one more chance?” “Why can't we give love that one more chance?”). Basically, I think the reason that Virgil was accepted by the light sides was because he understood Patton (love and feelings) and what he means to Thomas. Janus has now shown after being accepted that this could be the case (seeing as he was accepted only when Patton accepted him, the other sides didnt really play a part).

18) Everything is Alright: When reading my thoughts on this song, keep in mind that it is connected to the next song. Virgil basically is very anxious about menial things in life that he shouldn’t be anxious about (“Because I hate the ocean, theme parks and airplanes, Talking with strangers, waiting in line..”). Virgil doesn’t feel like things are okay and he doesn’t feel safe, but he asks the person in the song to tell him that everything is okay anyways. Now a while back, I remembered Joan mentioning in a livestream that Janus would be the one to lie to Thomas about things being alright even when they’re not, so this got me thinking. Perhaps Janus and Virgil got along so well in the past because Janus would lie to Virgil whenever he was having a panic attack in order to calm him down. Virgil may have found comfort in this as lying to himself may have been the only way to escape his episodes (“‘Someday you'll be fine..’ Yes, I'll be just fine.” “Tell me that you're alright, everything is alright. Please tell me that you're alright, everything is alright.”). Idk It just feels like Janus trying to calm Virgil down to me.

19) The Middle: (remember how I said this was connected to the above song? Yep, keep that in mind) So right after the last song, this song began to play and at first I thought the two songs were basically about the same thing. Virgil is anxious and needs reassured that things are okay. This song seemed to have a different tone though. The speaker is reassuring Virgil, but in a different way. They’re not lying to Virgil and telling him just what he wants to hear, but they are feeling with Virgil and comforting Virgil with truth and honesty (“Hey, don't write yourself off yet. It's only in your head, you feel left out” “Don't you worry what they tell themselves When you're away.” “It just takes some time, Little girl you're in the middle of the ride. Everything, everything will be just fine. Everything, everything will be alright.” “You know you're doin' better on your own” “Live right now, just be yourself. It doesn't matter if it's good enough For someone else.” “Don't worry what their bitter hearts Are gonna say”) That’s right. This song is about Patton doing the exact same thing that Janus once did for Virgil only better. Not only that, but he’s reassuring Virgil about his worries regarding the dark sides. That must sting for Janus...

20) Vindicated: I think this song takes place right after Virgil confessed his past to Thomas. He’s scared that Thomas will reject him, but he explains that he’s trying his best to be better for Thomas despite the many flaws he may have (“I am selfish I am wrong. I am right, I swear I'm right. Swear I knew it all along And I am flawed, but I am cleaing up so well”). Despite his fear of rejection he has hope that Thomas will accept him as he’s begun to see things in himself that someone (probably Patton) has seen all along (“Hope dangles on a string, Like slow-spinning redemption” “I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself”).

The envelope arrives a week or so before Saint Cichol’s Day. It’s made of creamy, off-white paper and sealed with an actual wax seal bearing the griffin knight of Faerghus, because royals apparently have to be extra even with something as mundane as sending holiday cards.

It’s actually addressed to Claude’s mother ( President Juliette von Riegan, the envelope reads in elegant, swirling script), but as First Son of the Leicester Alliance, Claude considers himself plenty qualified to snatch it up from the pile of holidays-related mail and whisk it off to his room.

He flops down onto his bed before breaking open the seal. The card inside is just as fancy as the exterior, done up in dark blue and silver highlights, and it’s the funniest thing Claude’s seen all week.

Now, the Faerghan royal family has been sending Saint Cichol’s cards to the von Riegans since the beginning of his mother’s presidency, so this is nothing out of the ordinary. It also doesn’t say anything special, besides Merry Saint Cichol’s day & best wishes from House Blaiddyd in embossed letters.

What is new, however, is that this time, it doesn’t have  one of the Blaiddyds’ formal state portraits front and center. Sure enough, King Lambert and Queen Patricia are posing, flashing toothpaste-ad-worthy smiles at the camera, but there the resemblance comes to a brutal stop.

The photo features Dimitri, clad in possibly the gaudiest holiday sweater Claude’s ever seen. As per ugly sweater tradition, it sports an unholy amount of red and green, but nothing can dethrone the roaring lion’s head emblazoned over Dimitri’s torso, myriads of multicolored lights haphazardly sewn into its mane.

And he still manages to look like Prince Charming straight out of a collector’s edition of Fódlan’s Fables, because Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd is unfairly photogenic like that.

Seiros, life is unfair. Or maybe it isn't, because it’s given him a boyfriend who miraculously still looks good while looking like he’s been hit and run over by a garlands-filled truck.

Because he’s the most loyal best friend anyone could ask for, Claude sits up, holds the card to the lamp on his bedside table, snaps a picture and sends it to Hilda. Her reply is almost instantaneous.

Dimitri flashes the camera another bright smile before the operator signals to him that they're done filming. From the treshold, Sylvain gives him a thumbs-up, and Dedue an approving nod. Only then does Dimitri allow himself to relax, shoulders slumping ever so slightly.

It isn't the address that bothers him, nor the ever-present fear of slipping up in front of millions of Faerghus citizens on live television. He's been groomed in protocol for public appearances, virtual or not, since he was old enough to walk. No, it's the creeping realization that, year after year, he gives a little more time to the people, and keeps a little less to himself.

It's selfish, which is precisely why Dimitri's only vaguely mentioned it even to his closest friends. They'd whisk him off to some holiday destination at the speed of light if he asked, he knows, but it doesn't feel right to shirk his duties — even though Sylvain wouldn't call it shirking, only giving himself a well-deserved break.

After a few minutes of idle chatter with the camera crew - Dimitri's made it a habit to try and get to know everyone he works with, to the point he can now ask after some of the operators' children by name -, he finally steps out of the royal office requisitioned for the occasion. When he idly checks his phone, the screen flashes with half a dozen notifications : a picture of Felix and Ingrid on St Cichol's shopping (presumably for Glenn), some last minute recommendations from both his father and Duke Fraldarius, and…

Dimitri picks up the pace, until he’s almost flying past the castle’s front gates and into the main courtyard. At first, nothing seems more out of the ordinary : the gatekeepers even shoot him perplexed looks as their crown prince stares out, half disheveled, at the snow-covered cobblestones.

Then a nondescript black cab pulls up, somehow unbothered by security checks, and everything suddenly pieces itself together.

Dimitri’s down the staircase before anyone can stop him, right as the cab’s door open and a silhouette clad in a vibrant yellow sweater steps out. Claude’s barely finished handing the driver a tip when Dimitri comes to a brutal stop just a few steps from him, heart beating wildly against his ribcage.

They exchange pictures pretty much everyday, but there’s an inherent brilliance to Claude a screen can’t capture. It’s something, Dimitri thinks, in the way his smile blooms first over his lips then reaches all the way to his eyes. Every time, it’s like watching the sun rise.

Claude opens his arms. Wordlessly, Dimitri lets himself be drawn into his embrace, curls around him and breathes in the fresh scent of pine needles.

Eventually, he finds it in himself to step back. His hands stay firmly planted on Claude’s shoulders, grounding himself in the other’s presence. “It really is you.”

Claude grins and tips an imaginary hat at him. “The one and only.”

“Flames, I—” Dimitri takes a deep breath in an attempt to compose himself. “How...when did you get here?”

“On a plane this morning. And before you ask, it wasn't on taxpayers' money,” Claude quips.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m delighted to see you, but why now?” Dimitri’s brain frantically cycles through their relationship milestones. Their anniversary’s in early summer, and Claude’s birthday isn’t for another few months, and⎯

Claude gently takes his face into his hands, tiptoeing a little to rest their foreheads together, and Dimitri’s mind comes to a standstill.

“Hey, calm down, okay? You’re overthinking everything again.” Claude pauses, breathes in, breathes out. “Would you believe me if I said I’m a little late for your birthday?”

Oh. It’s true. His birthday, a national holiday. How did it slip his mind again?

As if able to read his mind, Claude chuckles. “Really, I just wanted to see you again. In person. I already meant it to be a Saint Cichol’s surprise, and our texts the other day were just...additional motivation, if you will.”

“You’re amazing,” Dimitri says, as earnest as he’s ever been. This time, it’s Claude’s turn to blush, a rosy flush creeping up his neck and onto his cheeks. It offers a nice contrast to the paleness of the snowflakes that have started accumulating in his hair, dusting his dark curls with white.

It occurs to Dimitri that perhaps they should have had this conversation inside.

“Come,” he tells Claude, slinging an arm around his boyfriend’s shoulders to steer him back towards the castle’s warmth. “You must be freezing.”

Claude snorts and tucks his chin down into the collar of his coat. “Only because your country considers negative temperature to be mild weather.”

“It’s only starting to get chilly, really⎯” Dimitri cuts himself off when Claude shoots him a half-exasperated, half-fond look.

Before he can fumble himself into another clumsy explanation, Claude tugs him down by the lapels of his jacket and presses a kiss to his lips. It courses through him like lightning, all the way down to the tips of his toes, and it lingers even after Claude pulls away.

“Well, you’re here to keep me warm, aren’t you? Lead the way.”

Like this, his love is bright and lovely, the great hall’s flickering hearth painting him in broad strokes of honey and gold.

Gate Hoppers: World Info

This is going to be an ever-expanding list, adding in new worlds as I make them or decide to so reveal their existence.

Yvjærdën - Could be considered one of the three main worlds of the story, this is where Norabellé's mother Nadalé comes from. Her species are humanoids named Jaegers, strong and blessed with tremendous life force, Jaegers could possibly live out their years until killed otherwise. This makes more of then apt for Relic creation, although they are shorter than your average person and just about that much duller as well.

Is largely plains and prairies with large oceans and mountains muddled about, and the only regions that actually get cold are the mountains.

Known for very hardy inhabitants

Very.

Most flora that isn't grass grows close to the ground as well, and if there is a tree it's a large one.

Most civilized people are nomadic

The predators are just as if not hardier than their omnivorous counterparts.

Gnäroknstrad - Look hard to pronounce? Regional dialect makes it worse, each of the beast man species living here have different vocal clicks. Imagine this but said in horse. This is where Norabellé's father, Faravir's species the Külveena reside. He's since moved in with Nadalé and picked up working in the office for the Federation. However Nora lives here, funny how that works?

All civilized people native to this world are beast-men

All biomes within are extreme versions of the ones found elsewhere, with the world itself being just as large in comparison to others.

Widely regarded as a highly dangerous world for outworlders

Not so much for those who are native

Despite the differences in DNA beast-man species can safely reproduce with most other humanoid species. Further research is being done into exactly how. No not like that, get your head out of the gutter... Maybe it's my mind that's in the gutter...

Despite the large differences in each culture all share the value that respect and honor is important, however if you have no honor your earn no respect.

Most Relics thar are produced within this world are weapons.

??? - New world where Angel is discovered, while "Ruins" is more like it. Overrun by life forms so dangerous that no civilized life can exist, all that's left is their memories.

Great Gate Federation HQ - Not necessarily a world but through the power contained in Relics found by the Grand Hoppers they were able to create the HQ and transport it into a rift all on it's own. Accessible only by sister-transporters to the main Relic that brought the HQ to the rift. One of many security measures taken to ensure what the Federation finds stays hidden if it must.

Livelier than one would think

Vindikarr - A hub world of technology & industry that the Federation maintains good relations with. Mostly large hills and mountains with scattered valleys, where a curious species named the Grinka live. The Grinka are the main inhabitant of Vindikarr, other than the sister species the Kriva who call the mountains their home. Houses a wide array of birds and bird-type animals while at a keen lack for terrestrial life as most enjoy a life of burrowing through the mountains.

Despite living industrially, the Grinka and Kriva live in harmony with nature, taking care not to damage their home in their progress

Both the Grinka and Kriva may seem odd at first, but they are as friendly as the are workaholics, even if they aren't good for conversation.

Within both cultures it's commonplace to have weekly celebrations, the reason of which could be anything.

Mirafune - A lush world that's inhabitants are just as much part of the past as they are residents of the present. Humanoids, non-humanoids and everything to and fro may be seen inhabiting this world, all cultures placing a heavy value upon tradition. Many also, shun the over-technological, deciding to put their trust into the things they know work. As such many of the Relics that are produced from the people here are simple, but deadly in efficiency.

One of the friendliest worlds for other races, but not quick to trust

Traditionally like said before they are wary of outsiders, but once you gain their trust they're quite open

Many contests of might are held here, the raining champion is none other than the Grand Lion herself.

As such, many martial combatants make a pilgrimage to this world for it's contests

Privéda - If the above is the home of the not l noble warrior this is the home of the gladiatorial. Despite this the cultures of Privéda are all surprisingly philosophical, often posing grand existential mysteries to each other in heated philosophical debates, of which happen often. Much like the above world they too hold competitions, but nobility and honor have no place, the strong wins by whatever means necessary. The Grand Lion is a common visitor of this world as well.

Will welcome any willing to fight and compete, though they have crass views about those opposed to such displays

Mostly inhabited by a race of giants know as the Grodar

The land varies greatly in biomes, each continent being one mega biome

Much like the severe biomes, the weather of each can reach high extremes

Ullio - This isn't as much a world as it is a giant marketplace. It's said before the advent of the Gates it was a empty rock, before a company so decided to begin mining from it. Eventually the workers began living here as a result, then the company collapsed and rather than leave their home they made it into their own place of work. Now, the entire planet is like one huge center where you could feasibly find almost anything you need. Not exactly known for it's great natural views as it was barren nothingness before.

Nearly every inch is owned by one or another market

Whispers have it that under the world operates a lucrative back market where even dangerous Relics show from time to time

Not as accepting as just willing to let anyone who will pay in

Theft is met with furious vengeance

You could quite literally sell your family members here, if you were dastardly enough to do so

Moltova - Do you like sand? This world is mostly sand, deserts, and other climates the like, with the exception of the tundras. As such the peoples who hail from here are both very heat resistant and very stubborn. Known for having highly dangerous natural fauna.

The only regions that differ from the born are the coasts, but even then they are a curious form of desert swamp

Famous for their immaculate glasswork, and such is in abundance as sand is everywhere

Large corporations tend to avoid trying to come here to mine or collect other resources, as doing so is highly difficult for anyone not naturally heat resistant and there's the Fin-bosa, giant serpent-like creatures that use tremors to detect their prey.

Home to many natural species, from a host of beast-man species and many other humanoids

Brîgatërna - Most know this land simply as the home of the Liege of Decay, while in the surface it seems bustling with life that's only the surface. Underneath are massive chasms fueled by an endless cycle of death, and the surface reaps all the benefits. The few species of civilized folk who make this home typically turn away from the grotesque underbelly, with only one making it home. Funny as that is, as the surface dwellers can be the most toxic of all, even moreso than the worst poisonous flora of the chasms.

Home to the chasm-dwelling Hu'k, and the surface-dwelling Narfūda, Kiräken and Júmùna (úmù was on purpose)

Don't let the pretty colors fool you, the Narfūda can be a downright barbaric people, using their amassed power to control the other surface-dwellers with an iron fist, with the Hu'k only avoiding them because if the safety of the chasms they call home.

Despite what locals may tell you of the Hu'k, they aren't ravenous flesh-eaters, they simply wanted safety. As such the are distrusting of outsiders, but will extend a hand to those in need.

As they can't verbally communicate, many assume the Hu'k are a undeveloped people, however the case is that they communicate by transmitting emotions and thoughts to others.

District O - "Districts" refer to places uninhabited by any civilized people, for whatever reason. District O is simply wild lands, and has yet too evolve any species capable of civilization. Relatively safe for a district, a favorite to send Hopper trainees too.

Many of the creatures here would be dangerous to the general public, but not so much for even slightly experienced Hoppers.

As no civilization has ever formed, it stands to reason no Relics have been discovered here.

Many of the non-dangerous flora and fauna from here are favorites of domesticators, especially the hare-like Opopo.

Sometimes more experienced Hoppers lead civilian exploration teams through here

Ímer'ii - A relatively small world, inhabited by a species of humanoid known as the Forovins. The Forovins have a vast array of races, much like humans but share very similar farming cultures, with differences depending on local. Some prefer the nomadic approach while porters find safety in anchoring down. A favorite vacation spot for Hoppers, as it's a good break from all the fighting the more experienced ones get into. Home of the Grand Rhino, where his farm resides, ran by his many grandchildren.

Many of the predators of this world ate quite tame as well, as the farmers utilize them as herding animals

Vinguard is a well known figure here, known as the local gramps for good reasons

Many are happy to house Hoppers for fr, should they simply put in a little work.

Lünovéra - A world of darkness, lit solely by many small stars that orbit it and reflect the light of far away stars. Original home of the Grand Owl, and a host of many other dark and dim-dwelling peoples and fauna. Despite this it's always bustling and busy, as they've evolved to operate at basically random times as there's no set day-night schedule and only one setting. Forever fascinated by the bright colors produced by technology, the cities that were once known as lightless became some of the brightest known, although there are always those who prefer the natural state of things.

Many insect-type beast-men hail from this world, with very few natural humanoid species

Fans of firework shows, which are displayed upon any celebration

Known too for their intricate death rituals, performing a chant, song and dance for the recently departed.

From their love of lights alone, many electrical innovations have spread out from this world.

District A - In a sentence, no don't come here. A favorite training ground for Noir Hoppers this place is highly dangerous. So much so that even high ranking normal Hoppers are wary of this District. Some Noir Hoppers that are crazy enough make this world their base of operations, due to the secrecy gained in doing so.

Most things can and will try to kill you

Like dragons? There's several monsters very close to those here.

Giant, angry octopi? Yeah those too.

As Relics have been discovered here civilization did exist but was wiped out (wonder how, couldn't be the basically-dragon Jervassk or the pissed off octodad Zerrfîn)

Only crazy people come here

??? - Another newer world, with it's exploration being headed by none other than two of Nora's good friends, the Ríoruné family Ibānu (Shiba) Lion Hopper, Iika and the Jaeger Rhino Hopper Brôvīshka. Iika and her stoic companion the man-of-one-face typically work in a team, but often work in tandem with Nora whenever possible. So far so moderately dangerous, but Relics ripe for the picking. Home to semi-civilized folk but nowhere near the capacity to make such Relics.

As with all new worlds little is known yet, although through Iika's reports they know which fauna are domesticatable and through Brôvie's (nickname via Iika) reports they know which fauna and flora are the tastiest but not necessarily which ones aren't poisonous as Jaegers laugh at pretty much all of those.

The locals are nice but quick to venerate one as a God

They think Brôvīshka is scary but a good guy

District J - A district you'll only see more experienced Hoppers in, and in most cases in teams of at least two. All creatures native to this world are considered Monsters due to their levels of aggression, not a singular one not attacking on sight. Some however, can be driven away. Used as one of the primary worlds for Relic components and ores.

The landscape is ever-changing, either by conflict of the creatures here or simply the whims of the land

The weather too, can change wildly, going from clear skies to thunderstorms in mere minutes.

One singular location is free from this, a towering inert golem-type Guardian Relic and a fifty-foot radius around that stays in a state of constant pleasantry. Shifting seasons slowly but never in a way that would be uncomfortable for those in it.

Vulture's Roost - Once a district, District F to be precise, taken control over by Her Lady of Benevolence, Jinko. She then built what started out as one supermassive hospital but now functions as a miniature HQ for the Vulture Hoppers, but also training center.

Is still considered a District as other areas past the Roost are still uninhabitable

Not only do they perform medical research but also make supplies that are sold to other locations

Both Vultures that follow Jinko and the Liege come to work here, even the Liege himself.

Jinko is seen as an older sister figure to many, and many come to see the Liege as a kindly advisor.

Oxíll Star - The star is the miniature headquarters made by the Grand Mole in the wake of seeing what was made by Jinko. Thinking, "Why shouldn't the Moles have their own?" They proceeded to mine into a world presumed to have been a comet of some sort, shaping the inside and adding it's own power generator coupled with propulsion systems to control the direction in which it is going. Many Moles find the innate danger in riding a comet through space as a great part of the experience.

No one here is completely sane

Serves as the training center for the Moles and home for many as well

All new ores are sent here for study, unless the Hopper in question is able to process it themselves it is sent here for that as well.

The inside is shaped by the Moles' constant digging, now having 1/4 the inside of the massive comet uncovered.

(Thank you so much for sending this, I’m on a long ass bus journey and this is giving me something to do other than brood and listen to music 💓)

21:21: When/where did you first hear about SKAM?

I saw a few GIFs of Isak and Evem floating around on Tumblr, around the time the O Helga Natt clip dropped. I didn’t really get it, and wasn’t into watching stuff with subs at that time, plus the clip things seemed complicated to me. So i kinda left it for a while, and then when i saw some hype for season four on instagram, literally a few days before the trailer dropped, i started to do more research. I watched Season 3 first, in split up clips on YouTube because I didn’t know DailyMotion/GoogleDrives were a things. Because of that I missed half the story and thought the show was nonsensical bullshit, but I just put that down to not watching seasons 1&2. So i watched them, on GoogleDrives this time and it all went uphill from there. Watching Season 4 in real time was so cool, all the theorising and texts sucked me in immediately.

As for finding the remakes...I fell out of love with SKAM for about a couple months after Season 4 ended. I found the fandom toxic, after the whole shipping Henrik and Tarjei happened, and people theorised Lea was a stunt girlfriend...that shit was wild. So i got into other stuff (mainly IT and Stranger Things) and turned my nose up at the concept of remakes, I heard about France first and then Italia. I watched s2 of Italia first and just though, meh. I didn’t like it that much, so I left the remakes alone for a while until all the ones we have now had at least one season. I found SKAM France’s Season 3 in my YouTube recommended, the full length episode 1 and then 2, and thought ‘fuck it’. I watched SKAM Fr S3 clip by clip after Episode 2 and I was fascinated by the idea of remakes thereafter.

1. Netherlands

Right, I know i don’t show it much on this blog but SKAM NL is my all time favourite. It just feels so unique and like a totally separate entity to SKAM og. The characters are so painfully relatable it makes me laugh, like Isa licking her phone screen. The girl squad reminds me of me and my friends and our collective stupidity, and the fact that it didn’t get renewed for Season 3 breaks my heart. They could’ve done wonderful things with Lucas’ character and the Isak/Even storyline, and the fact that we’re missing out on that makes me so sad. I hope one day it does get renewed, but for now, we have 2 amazing seasons.

2. France

My entire blog is dedicated to Lucas and Eliott. Are you surprised this ranks as high as it does? I’m so attached to this cast and characters, and the dramatics of Season 3 are forever in my heart. There isn’t much to say, except that I believe Season 4 was crappy and they did Imane dirty, because I think my blog speaks for itself. I’m SO fucking excited to see what Season 5 and 6 will bring, because new plot lines take me back to when I first got into SKAM.

3. WTFock:

So this actually moved from like spot number 5 to 3 within like 2 weeks. Can you guess why? Season 3 so far is actually my favourite remake of Isak/Evens story. Sander and Robbe are amazing characters, and I’m utterly obsessed with the both of them. Although Lucas and Eliott are nearly taking their spot as the no.1 Evak remake, the cinematography of WTFock knocks them down a peg (as well as the soundtrack). Plus Zoë and Senne are my favourite Noorhelm, which is shocking because I dislike ALL noorhelms (even the OG).

4. Druck

Controversial opinion, but I don’t like Druck that much. I don’t know why, but I just don’t. Maybe it’s because Matteo’s character hit too close to home or because I didn’t like Season 2 at all but, I’ve got no interest for it. It’s good, a brilliant remake and I love my baby David (+ Lukas is the sweetest human) but I found myself growing bored midway through Seasons 3&4. Not awful, not disgusting or controversial just mediocre. Still entertaining and original, just maybe not my cup of tea?

5. Italia

So where do I begin? The show itself is good, albeit a little safe, but all in all did a good job with all storylines. The cinematography is amazing and you can tell the people working on it are utterly passionate about the product they’re putting out. My only issues with this series are the actors and actresses. If i didn’t get into the cast, or follow them on social media, Italia probably would’ve ranked higher than Druck or WTFock. But I did and here’s my issues. Number one: White Sana? The casting choice was poor, and made a character I adore unlikeable. It takes away from the roll and diminishes it entirely, which makes me uncomfortable. I’m glad the show got cancelled before Season 4 was made, that would’ve been a shitshow. Number two: Rocco Fasano does my head in. ‘whitewashed is a racist word’ ass ‘says the n-work IN THE TV SHOW’ ass ‘supports the idea of white sana’ ass and ‘is generally annoying’ ass. All his topless pics and obscure instagram captions made me unfollow, which sucks because I’ve drawn him and he was nice enough to repost it and call me talented. But when I found all this out...yikes I had to unstan.

6. Austin

Watching SKAM, in my own language? weird. Haven’t watched it, will probably watch it when Shay’s season comes out (pun intended)...Because I’m GAY and she’s BABY. Next.

7. Es- 🤢 Españ- 🤮

Dirty ass. I hate this fucking show, and the audacity it has to denounce pansexuality with such hatred. I watched Season 2 as the clips dropped, excited for the first WLW Evak remake and was gutted when it turned out shitty and panphobic with a terrible fucking cast. Joanas mental illness was handled badly, Cris calling her crazy made me sick to my fucking stomach. I stopped watching after that clip dropped. Then hearing they denounced the existence of pansexuality, making fun of it even, in THE SHOW ITSELF. AT THE END OF AN LGBT SEASON? DISGUSTING. The cast is a clusterfuck. Irene makes me ill, with her boldness and ignorance, her entitled attitude makes me so fucking angry. Episode 2 - “Y'all. Vote me out fr cause I'm inactive as fronk” - Joshua (through Autumn)

I hate flag-making challenges. I will not be helpful at all, and I hope that someone else can take the reigns and lead us to victory. I honestly feel safe going into a tribal council, but I do not want to test that theory.

Next morning

With Chips and Jules working on the crest designs, I feel confident that we will do well in the challenge. Maybe not the best, but definitely not the worst. I still have the same anxious feeling that my tribe is not active enough for my taste, but I will just have to live with it for now. Besides, at least this is not immunity because that we increase my anxiety by so much. But, I keep forgetting to search the idol hunt which is my bad, but it is just so hard and long that I do not really feel like searching all the time lol

ART CHALLENGE <333 i love these challenges. Jess made my picture 110% better and its super cute. The note that she wrote with it is also hella cute and I love the whole HP aesthetics bc i never got to go to real hogwarts ;-; but i'm sure most of yall can related. The boys weren't too helpful but nick was better than jacob who is sick. Nick was way more active aka jacob said 3 sentences the entire challenge sooooo…. if we lose idk I might just save jacob anyways bc pregame relations.

Won reward, but now we have to win immunity again. I really hope that this reward helps us continue to survive. I don't want to have to vote anyone out. We've been getting first, but I really just want to survive this challenge, its known to be hard.

I think I have been stuck with the second most challenge inept tribe in the history of my ORG career. I literally said so many answers in my version of the story and Jules just fucked it up. And then they got the girl's name wrong. And then they started mixing up characters. I know I did well, but fuck these people. God. Now we need a tribe to get 0 which is very unlikely. I will just resign myself to tribal. I hope and pray that these people have some common sense and do not want to vote me out

Listen. Listen. Listen. I dang knew this story was going to be Harry Potter based. I knew in my brain and in my heart that I shouldn’t have been the one to start that thing. What do I do? Start the dang thing. Oh well. We did alright. I would be shocked if we won tho but if we don’t I’ll be relieved. I def don’t feel confident enough but I really had a lot of fun with my tribe. Honestly Jules dropped the ball sis!! But it’s okay, I love her. She’s really nice and I know she tried her best. Plus she’s in an alliance with me and Owen, so we should have the numbers against Joanna or Miguel if we go to tribal. Personally, I’d prefer Joanna to go. She’s kinda domineering, but she’s also an asset in challenges thus far. She is organized and direct. I’ve also talked to her a bit more than Miguel, so I guess I don’t really care who goes.

I’m happy I didn’t fuck up the reward comp and the shit that I drew got us a win!

I really hope I don't bomb that challenge, I answered everything that Kevin talked to me about.... I think!  The rest of them tried very hard but I am SOOO glad that I asked to do my part at the end because my memory of repeating things is horrendous but I'm usually pretty good at bullshitting test answers... too bad I got some of the multiple choice stuff wrong.

I think that if we do lose I am still in a good spot on this tribe and hopefully I won't be in danger.  I feel like I'm on everyone's good side and Max kind of just disappeared so maybe we could just vote him out this round? Idk.

Hopefully we don't have to worry about it.  I smell a swap coming up pretty soon and I just hope I'm either with Owen or with some of the people from my tribe.  I have no idea if they know anyone or are close with anyone in the other houses.

Tonight we learned Joshua is a feminist selfless man that I stan because he's volunteering to go home without me having to put his name out, which I was going to do. Like imagine if every guy had that kind of self-awareness, to recognize why he should be the vote and then embrace it instead of wreaking havoc. And wanting to see others succeed more than yourself? King shit! He knew when to hang it up and did just that. Like the number of times I've seen a vote get complicated for no fucking reason because everyone wants a fight to the death. Enough- I'm old, tired, and cannot exert too much energy at once. We got a long game ahead of us, not to mention quarantine. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you Joshua. im back back BACK AGAIN with another confessional! not much has changed but a few updates for the sake of these being required :) 1. max has become even more inactive, he's not reached out to me personally since the first day and any time i messaged him after that he's sent me nothing back that i can build a convo off of, so we just have stopped speaking. Luckily this challenge only required four people and everyone else SHOWED UP!! or at least spoke about their availability, while he did not. However in his defense he said he was having some issues at home and i feel for him but his inability to connect has been an issue before he spoke about anything in our tribe chat with us. I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but this point my relationships with the other 3 are leaps and bounds ahead of where I am at with Max. Maybe he can pick up some speed if we continue winning challenges but, it's not looking too hot. SPEAKING OF CHALLENGES, well first we lost reward AGAIN, but we won immunity.. AGAIN! thank goodness for not being first or second boot, i always love being able to avoid these early tribals and if i can get to a swap without seeing one that would be ideal, but also if we do go and maybe vote out max? wouldn't be the worst thing. Moral of the story we won and thats exciting! however.. if we didn't.. the first big push of strategic talk came up with landen when he hinted at being frustrated with max's lack of presence which I also share. I do believe if we lost me and landen could have most definitely picked up ruthie and lily to form a four against him, if he even came to tribal. That would be my ideal situation and if we continue on this tribes hopefully it gives me a nice cushion to fall on if we do lose so i dont have to entirely blow up my social game within the first few rounds by voting out someone i've built a connection with. If max can go and the remaining four hufflepuffs can make a swap I would feel good about that, and maybe in the right circumstances we could work together on the swapped tribes because i genuinely like all of these people (yes max too but in this specific scenario he wouldn't be included bc... well..) anyways to close this off i still absolutely ADORE lily, she is fun and our conversations are really good, and same goes for ruthie, hopefully i dont have to see either of them or myself go home before we can really start playing because i think we could do some damage. :) ok anyways this was longer than i thought it would be goodbye

Joanna seems passionate enough in the tribe chat and the challenges, even if she's dry in PMs. Miguel still won't give me anything other than a "how are you," but I hope the best for him in life lol

Still love Jules and Dan, and we made a three person alliance, but I haven't talked with either of them much one on one since it happened.... I really need to step the social game up eventually, but right now, I'm coasting, and maybe that's what I need before I find the time and resources in this game to strike!!

The idol hunt is hard but Dan seems onto something. Honestly he's gonna be a big threat sooner or later so he's sticking around as long as I can keep him! The last two games I've been in I've seen "goats" get dragged to the end and locked in final 3 positions, and then these perceived goats have ended up winning. so I want the big players in this game to rise to the top and fight it out in the end!

Slytherin killed the memory challenge. We thought we were all gonna flop bc all of us thought we sucked at memory stuff. um well we knocked it out of the park? Ravenclaw got 4 and huff/gryff got 1. We got 7 so oops. I do hope things turn out well for Gryffindor but no one I really know/care about is in that house so I'm not too worried. I hope they continue to lose or even hufflepuff since ravenclaw has 2 of my friends in it.

I have been TERRIBLE with confessionals but only because there's really not been much going on? I have an alliance with Dan and Owen, and even though I wrote off Joanna I was DEFINITELY wrong in doing that. Miguel is sort of the outlier. Our team is kinda iconic though? We've done so well on all the challenges. I might be the weakest link? More to come.

it's pretty sad but the whole tribe has agreed to vote max if we lose, basically he's just never around because of what's going on at home and like thats sad but... we gotta do what we gotta do *shrug*. So here is the summary of what has happened since last time

We had a reward challenge that was drawing. Mine sucked. Apparently 3/4 so no reward.

We played Telephone. My team didnt realize that details are the most important parts of that and didnt share then with Autumn so Autumn didnt share them with me. Then I didnt know them when asked about them.

We scored 1 point and lost. Since I still have no alliance I'm scared that it could be me. So I kind of got an idea how everyone was feeling.

Juls let me know she wanted to vote Joshua and- it's not me so that's fine!

Then I was talking to Autumn about it and - OOP! Josh asked to be voted out. So unless he plays an idol I'm supposing he is leaving after asking to go.

Not much strategy has happened this episode, just simply tribal bonding! We are SlytherWINNING, getting reward and immunity this time! How wonderful.

Regarding my tribe mates, I love all three. I pray, pray, pray we make swap, i do Noh want to be a dirty bad guy and have to vote one out.. yet. Haha.

I was drunk during immunity, one full glass of rum & coke, so I am shocked that we won immunity. Honestly, I feel silly admitting I was drunk to my tribe because... if I can do that when drunk, imagine if I was sober. Competition Beast, duh.

I also gave up my run this round for the tribe to use. Was partially social, partially I just do not understand how to do the Hunt, so I might as well help the greater good. Either way, it comes off positively.

here are two sweet boys bc i’ve been doing research on birds to further make dumb aquabats hcs. they’re a lesser spotted eagle and a greater spotted eagle, respectively, but tbh they’re both great! look at them! i love them VERY much

so imo the falconhawk bois don’t really Fit any one type of bird, i mean, their names are literally Bird___ BirdBird, but given that their first names tend to identify what abt them is avian i’m going with Eagle being their primary...kinda...influence. listen. we’re playing calvinball with how anything works here, okay, i’m not a scientist. but yeah, after looking up some neato eagles, i think that it’d be neat fr bones and claw to correspond to the lesser and greater spotted eagles, respectively! 

the species are both really closely related, and given that bones is claw’s baby brother i think that’s kinda cute fr them to match like that. before there were these two kinds of spotted eagles, they were part of one species, that, in turn, was ALSO divergent from one species. the tree here is hard to word, basically before the last ice age, in afghanistan, the weird climate changes separated an eagle species into northern and southern lineage, and the northern one is where the spotted eagles came from. so, i’m not sure what that means, and the internet won’t divulge these hot eagle secrets to me, but i feel like that gives the falconhawks +2 resistance to cold, which frankly they need because those boys are BEANPOLES

the scientific name for lessers is clanga pomarina, and the scientific name for greaters is clanga clanga. i can’t find what pomarina is derived from, but clanga comes from greek and it DOES mean “a scream”, which means the greater’s scientific name is p much Scream Scream, and that fits claw so perfectly and i love it. dude screeches a LOT 

despite the screeching claw does all the time always, both spotted eagles have a call that’s more of a dog-like “yip”! fun fact. they’re Whiny Boys, ALSO in line w the falconhawks...claw screeching isn’t actually an eagle trait he inherited, he learned how to do that just to sound more intimidating bc he’s a weirdo. awful. the worst

greaters, by eagle standards, have a lot more dramatic colorization than lessers! you can see in the pictures that their wings are just DOIN’ the damn thing with those white accents, and that tracks w claw’s Entire Aesthetic and with the facepaint he does. lessers by comparison lean more towards a pale brown, they still have spots of white but they’re more subdued, in terms of appearance. they’re still beautiful though! all eagles are so pretty

both species are migratory, but lessers are WAY more extreme in it than greaters, apparently. given that claw’s kind of just a mysterious force with an 8 foot vertical leap and a habit of disappearing into the night, and no one knows where he resides most of the time, and bones is constantly on tour with The Tax Evasion Tram, that tracks i think

birds have this fun thing they do called cainism which is where older siblings tend to murderize younger siblings. fortunately the falconhawks don’t have this, it manifests as a VERY intense and mostly one-sided sibling rivalry. there is NO murder, i CANNOT stress this enough, 0 murders, none of that

spotted eagles are considered a distinct group, different from the aquila, which is where the “true eagles” party. and considering that the falconhawks’ last names are, in fact, FalconHawk, i think they would def not fall into the category of True Eagle even if they weren’t both weird smelly human boys

Rather, I feel dead.  Saw the movie Alexander.  Long, long movie.  Not very well received it seems.  I enjoyed it.  A lot of historical accuracies as well as inaccuracies.  Good details, though.  A lot of nods and references here and there.  Though I wish it touched more upon the siege of Tyre.  Or any siege, really.

A couple days ago, Esther’s spectre haunted me.  In a dream.  I realized it was a dream because I was happy.  Horrible, eh? I’ll ignore that for now.  Work yesterday was terrible.  Like, so… so busy.  I felt like I could die.  So, when I say I feel dead I mean it.  New shoes.  Bad shoes, I fear.  Wore them out of necessity.

There is more.  Can’t imagine what.  My mind is like a cave, dripping and echoing.  I’m tired but I’m glad I saw the movie.  Again, surprised it was poorly received.

I like how they start off in the Battle of Gaugamela.  A lot of cuts back and forth between Alexander’s campaign and his personal life. There was a part that went too long with Shah Dariush.  Or Shahnashah or whatever.  He was an emperor.  Can’t be bothered looking up the Persian word for it.

Anyways, it lasted a little long but I have to say the Shah had very pretty eyes.  No homo.

Actually, a lot of the men were really attractive.  This is coming from a hetrosexual male.  Very handsome, mostly.  I’m not sure why.  I do appreciate how the characters were COVERED in scars.  Alexander saw A LOT of fighting.  During one of his sieges, he got stuck behind the walls by himself.  He was surrounded and killed 12 people before Macedonian forces could relieve him.  I believe he was relatively short with different colored eyes.  That’s all I can remember.

Admittedly, I’m more familiar with the names in Alexander than in Troy.  More familiar with what happens, at least.  That’s the problem with these movies, you know what’s going to happen.  Something that I found interesting and I’m not sure if it were intentional is that it seemed like the Macedonians had slight Irish accents.  However, Non-Macedonian Greeks had regular English accents. This may be because the actor who played him was Irish, but I suspect maybe it was for a different reason? I recall hearing a story about how Macedon wasn’t really that Greek.  The Persians referred to Macedonians as “Greeks with Hats.”  They saw them as Greek but they were different.  In fact, they were different enough for Alexander to almost get denied to participate in the Olympic games because he wasn’t Greek enough.

Of course, he’s a hero in Greece today.  Great Greek general, him.  So Greek.  So long as it’s AFTER he does something significant.  -,-

Greeks… what you are and who you are.  In the movie, people kept talking about how they were descended from some hero or god.  Typical, right? Ariel does something similar, I guess.  Of course, she claims to be descended from Alexander’s line.  Which… may be possible? Cousins at some point, maybe?  Idk, she may have claimed to be more closely descended.  Because Alexander’s mother was Albanian, or whatever. She was from Epirus which was basically Greek but with some Illyrian influences.  Illyria, of course, is Ancient Albania.  In fact, modern Albanian is supposed to be a more modern form of the old Illyrian language.  Pretty neat, right?  I think Angelina Jolie used an Albanian accent to reflect this which is interesting.

Now that we’re back on accents, they got a lot of shit for being Irish. But because they were sort of the outcasts of Greece, it’d be appropriate for the Macedonians to have an Irish accent while the rest of Greece has English accents.  Really, the accents shouldn’t matter too much but should be consistent.  It helps to differentiate different peoples, like I sort of mentioned.

Macedonians are a Dorian Greek people.  For those who don’t know, there are four tribes of Ancient Greeks and Dorians are one of them.  Spartans were Dorians as well.  Athenians were Ionians.  Between Athens and Macedon were Aeolians.  A bit Northwest of Sparta were the Achaeans. However, Macedonians are CLEARLY not Spartans.  Obviously.  In fact, when Gaugamela was won, Alexander sent a tribute to one of the Temples (I think Delphi which is an Aeolian city, iirc) talking about how the tribute was a gift from “Alexander, Son of Philip, and all the Greeks except the Spartans.”  They did their own thing, being boring and laconic as well as entirely overrated.

That said if Macedonians speak with Irish accents then their Dorian cousins should speak… with Scottish accents!  Ta da!  Because they’re cousins, sort of.  Like the Irish and Scottish.  Eh?  Eh?! They’re Celts, see.  And the Scottish were actually Irish settlers that mixed with the local Picts.  Super related.

The entire point, however, is for the characters to be clearly understood.  They can have American accents for all it matters, so long as when they say the Greek words they say it correctly.  And in Greek.  Maybe then say it with a Greek accent but only then.  And even then, it wouldn’t be the same MODERN Greek accent.

Foreigners who don’t speak the language of the main characters (in this case Greek) should still have accents, though.  This reflects that the language they learned to speak is different from the one they’re speaking.  This is why the emphasize certain sounds or whatever. Thus, the Persians having Iranian accents?  It might not be the BEST for clarity’s sake, but it doesn’t matter.  It’s what Alexander and his generals would have heard.  We hear from their perspectives.

Speaking of Alexander and his generals, I was disappointed that there was a lack of colors.  The shields should have at least been painted, not including the armor which was most likely also painted and designed because why not?  Regardless, each shield would have been different to a point.  At least in earlier armies.  I’m not certain about Alexander’s forces.  I heard that he paid for the arms and armor for his men.  Maybe not entirely but up to a certain point.

Still, the clothing would have been different colors at least.  Red, blue, yellow.  Common colors.  Purple, not so much.  That’s hard to get so it’s super rare historically.  Purple dye was worth more than it’s weight in gold back then.

Most everyone seemed to wear white linens.  I mean, I get it… you think of Greece, you think of white marble.  And linen.  And buttstuff. Not the point.  The point is, colors are great.  Really should have some more.

Something else that I do appreciate is that Alexander was wearing a long sleeved shirt.  As you could perhaps guess, long sleeves weren’t really a thing Greeks did.  Or… shirts, for that matter.  Really, they had this thing called chiton which is like this flat cloth that they clip on.  Super simple.  They’d also leave one shoulder bare at times.  Don’t confuse the chiton with the toga.  The toga is significantly longer.

The greeks left the right shoulder bare because they thought leaving a left shoulder bare was barbaric.  At least, when you had to cover a shoulder.  I mean, the greeks were fine with total nudity.  In fact, children existed almost entirely naked up to a certain age.  And seeing someone run through town naked was like, “Really?  Who cares?”  And if at least a bottom was worn, a bare chest wasn’t the end of the world.

Rather, the bare should was just for if you had to expose a shoulder.  Like, choose one and they chose the right one because the left is something barbarians would do.

Strangely enough, Alexander’s campaigns ended in India where some local traditions keep the right shoulder bare for different reasons. Coincidence?  Perhaps but I’m inclined to think perhaps something else is at work.  Aliens with poor fashion sense.

I was reminded of Ariel a lot during the movie.  Not because she claims to be descended from Alexander but because her internet persona tends to involve diamonds or Athena.  Athena is a big thing with her for the obvious reasons.  She loves knowledge.  And the library of Alexandria?  She is really big on that.  Just finished Assassin’s Creed Origins, she did.  Where she deals with Cleopatra, which is the third Cleopatra from Ptolemy’s lineage who is the narrator from the movie.  You know, the bimbo in the carpet, the seducer of Roman emperors.  Her.

Yeah, she’s Greek!  Interesting, eh?  Not sure how Greek as if Ptolemy took an Egyptian wife and if his son took an Egyptian wife and so on and so on.  But still, Greek.

Anyways, Ariel looks… A LOT like Angelina Jolie.  Like, a lot.  Except Angelina Jolie is slender and perhaps a bit shorter, Ariel is as tall as me and a bit less slender.  Not to say she’s fat or big boned or even thick.  Rather, she is strong.  She isn’t as slender but she doesn’t need to be.  She is like Angelina Jolie but instead of a Macedonian queen from Epirus, she were a TITAN!!!  DUN DUN DUN!!!

I told Ariel this a long time ago.  I was unsure how she’d receive it but she took it really well.  She thought Angelina Jolie was the most beautiful person on earth.  Or at least most attractive.  She’s a great actress, too.  If I were Alexander and she were my mom, then I’d want to fuck her too.  Let’s be honest.  It’s just wincest at that point.  ;) Kidding, kidding.  Though I have wanted to make a joke about how the worst part about being good looking is that your cousins are good looking but you have to say no.  :3 I do have attractive cousins, mind you.  Not just Adela.  Like, I come from a good line.  Very handsome men very beautiful women.  When I was younger, I had a crush on one of my cousins.  Then on one of my aunts.  I won’t get into it but I thought they were really pretty and I was like, “Gasp!” Lol, that sidetrack. Anyways, I like how it sort of implied that Alexander knew the wine was poisoned.  Saw the gorgon in it and still drank it.  Saying he killed himself to be with his old lover, who was very attractive.  I think it’s the Joker from Suicide Squad.  Can’t remember his name but I recall his face from American Psycho.  He was the one who thought Huey Lewis and the News were alright.  ;) The armor… oof.  From what I can tell, MOSTLY accurate with a lot of real world inspirations.  Some armors here and there were a bit “What?” but were good for the most part.  A lot of these helmets running around, but do you see the tall helmets that sort of curve forward?  It looks sort of like a bronze smurf hat.  Those are Phrygian helmets and they were VERY popular at the time. I think they look disgusting, but some can look alright.  The Phyrgian look carried on YEARS after.  Well into the Medieval Era and even during the time of Napoleon and beyond, you’d still see crests that are inspired by these old helmets.  Mostly French, of course, because they wish they were Greek for… reasons.  Can’t be that Greek, their capital was named after a Trojan.  HA!!!

Some things I didn’t like was how they referred to their own world as the “Known world.”  It should have just been “The world.” And even then…

They also referenced Carthage, Sicily, and Rome.  Um… sure, they exist. In fact, the Siege of Tyre, Carthage took in Phoenician refugees who were escaping the city.  Very profitable.  And Sicily… I mean… um…  Half of it belonged to Carthage.  The other half was Syracuse. Just say Syracuse, which was a city settled by Dorian Greeks as well.  You’re already planning to conquer Carthage, you’ll conquer Syracuse and complete Sicily.  Then the “Roman tribe”? No, Rome was CERTAINLY not a tribe at this point.  They were a city-state, very similar to Greek city state but they ran off a Republic system at this point.  And that’s a very specific city state to mention.  Why not the Etruscans or Umbrians?  Or you could say “Italians” or “Latins” or whatever.  Or mention the Greek colonies in southern Italy.

Whatever…

Something else he says is that they’re “Strong fighters.”  Compared… to who?  To Greeks?  I don’t believe they fought Greeks at this time… in fact, I’m fairly certain they are still fighting their neighbors.  Umbrians, Etruscans, Samnites, Apullians, and even some Celts.  I mean, they consolidated SOME power from neighboring Latin tribes… but they haven’t really fought any Greeks until AFTER Alexander died.

I think that was just a sort of nod to what Rome will accomplish. Personally, I think Rome is overrated.  Especially since they always seem to do REALLY poorly at the beginning of all their wars.  It’s later in the wars when they become competent enough to achieve anything.

Also, there is a scene where they’re looking at mountains in the Hindu Kush.  It’s a man’s face but the face is comprised of mountains. I was waiting for this scene because I’ve seen the movie before… however, I only remembered it as the outline of a face, screaming out in pain.  The face I saw?  Was more derpy than I remember.  Just sort of there, creeping and lurking.  Saying, “o hai wut u doin?!  Doin anithin fuuuuuuuuun?!” It’s a very annoying face which is why they went into India.  Obviously.

Jokes aside, I did enjoy the movie.  Perhaps more than Troy.  Long, though. Very long.  Could have been shortened some but… still.

Going to head to bed soon.  Before I do, Gaugamela.  The light infantry running with the horses was totally true.  That happened.  What might not have happened would be the Persians doing war cries or war chants or whatever back at the Greeks.

You see Dariush motioning silently to his men whereas Alexander barks orders.  Persian orders were relatively silent.  I remember reading somewhere that this was a stark contrast to Greeks who were always shouting because they were trying to intimidate their enemy by saying, “Yeah, I’m bad, and if you get close I’ll stick you!” Of course, you get accustomed to this.  That’s how battles work.  You know they’re just as mortal as you are.  So, when Persians invaded Greece?  War changed.  Where Greeks yelled and shouted, the Persians said nothing.  Their faces were usually covered and they were very quiet.  The comparison I heard was that they were basically like space invaders, so foreign and strange that it actually intimidated the Greeks.  It was frightening that this faceless and vast foe said nothing while you fought.  They’re nothing like the monsters you knew.  That’s what makes them scary.

Anyways, I could go on and on about the movie.  I think I’ll stop here.  I need to go to bed.  I don’t work tomorrow but I have to do dishes. It’s weird because I haven’t been here at all basically and the dishes are stacked REALLY high.  Adela… -,-

It’s fine.  She just ate more than expected.  It’s weird how quickly she goes through dishes.  Today is another day.  In a couple of days, it’ll be Esther’s birthday.  I hope it’s a good one.  I won’t message her, even though she’ll expect it.  Not even on the 20th when we met in person.

I’m out of her life.  It was easy for her.  Maybe she’ll get out of mine, too.  Good night.
