the thing about the beardsley nat 20s is that while their sheer narrative luck is astounding, in my opinion the rolls would not hit nearly as hard with any other dm. brennan honors nat 20s so much that he will derail his whole campaign to accommodate for them. in fact i think he would set himself on fire if a player got a nat 20 and asked him to do it

#d20 #i saw this post that basically boiled down to 'i hope matt is paired up w/ the intrepid heroes + brennan at the table'#and one of the reasons op gave was the beardsley nat 20s (up there w emily just being there)#nah bro. i still have psychic damage from when liam rolled a nat 20 and it didn't do anything to the door #his worldbuilding is too tight knit to get caved in by a nat 20 esp compared to how brennan's worldbuilding #is sooooo character centric and molds to just who the pc's are. since a lot of d20 dabbles in parody-#concept wise it makes sense that more character centric stories and worlds grow from that
