We all agree that Jinako is universally beloved right? I mean look at her, even Goetia would reconsider burning humanity if he saw Jinako being a good
unfortunately jinako haters are real and out there
They seem to hate her primarily because she’s an incredibly significant person in karna’s life as a servant who has the audacity to be ‘conventionally unattractive’ (a bit fat) and kind of annoying- at least a few of these people are quite fixated on karna and consider her a sort of ‘dead weight’ that hinders either him personally or their enjoyment of his character
Which is incredibly ironic because jinako is specifically and explicitly the master who’s had the greatest positive impact on karna as a servant in part because of her own ‘flaws.’ The fact that she was a poor suit for him in terms of will to fight and magical output meant that he was forced to, for once, cool his heels and actually reflect on the events and people around him instead of focusing solely on fighting like in apocrypha or even fgo to some extent. He was forced to also reflect on his own tendencies by sitting and waiting and gained a level of peace with himself he was able to carry into later installments. It was a period of time he clearly felt fondly about with all the times he’s referenced it and to act like she did him a disservice by not let him explosionize things is just wrong- while that may be what he likes to do, he was able to recognize that it isn’t always what he needs and while it was unintentional on her part he deeply appreciates how she helped him realize it.
The simple fact is that their story arc in ccc culminated in him telling her that even if she never changed from the ‘cowardly nobody’ she felt she was, he was sure someone would still be out there waiting to meet her- a message he delivered with as much clarity and compassion as he could muster. It’s the exact antithesis of the people who resent her for those traits lmao. To ignore all that and treat her as a metaphorical shackle around his neck rather than someone who was actively responsible for making him able to relax more as a servant and enjoy himself is actively incorrect even if you resent the fact she’s a woman with an important relationship (whether romantic or platonic is irrelevant tbh) to your favorite anime boy
As for the people who primarily hate her bc she’s fat….uh…get better taste? 🤷

a closed starter for na jina ( @youllalwaysbemyporcelain )

dongkyung gave her friend a weak smile and small wave. normal is what she needed. drowning in her sorrows wasn't the solution, nor was it a face she wanted to show jina. when she got in reaching distance of the other, dongkyung opened her arms and closed the gap with a hug. "i remember. i remember everything."

"really? i never noticed before." dongkyung tilts her head in thought. she'd been here for a long time, but had no clue. maybe she was too wrapped up with work to notice? though that didn't feel right. she was a homebody, but she wasn't a complete hermit. "oh!" she claps her hands together, "maybe i forgot after being in the hospital? you know, like some sort of amnesia that you see in dramas."
Tumblr media
Ji Na frowns at Dongkyung's question. It takes her a moment to realize that Dongkyung probably hasn't been through something like this, that she remembers. "Unfortunately, this happens quite a lot in this city. It's a very strange place, where very terrible things like this happen. I don't know why it's the way it is, but there's disasters like this a lot unfortunately."

Fate's Refusal to Honour (or at least properly research) Depictions of Non-Japanese Figures 2: Electric Bogaloo ft. Wandjina from the Current JP Summer Event
Disclaimer: While I am an Australian, I am NOT of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Therefore, I am coming at this issue from an outsider's perspective. If there is an Aboriginal person, or more specifically of the Mowanjum people from the Kimberly regions, please PLEASE correct me if I am wrong on any front.
The culprit behind the events of the current Summer story in the JP servers has recently been revealed to be Wandjina, a creator Dreamtime figure from the Mowanjum people's culture.
In any other context, I would be thrilled to have an Australian figure in FGO, but the problem here is the figure they use.
Wandjina are sacred to the Mowanjum people, and therefore one needs to go through Aboriginal Law to obtain the right to use the Wandjina's image.
In Australia, this resulted in an actual conflict between a non-indigenous artist and aboriginals. You can read more here, but one quote to note is from an Aboriginal man of the Darug people, Chris Tobin: "Aboriginal law is very specific on what you can and can't do with wan[d]jinas." Another quote on this topic is made by the owner of an Aboriginal art gallery, Adrian Newstead: "Only a few Aboriginal artists ever win the right to depict wan[d]jina, and only then after years of initiations and ceremonies..."
I am NOT attaching an image of FGO's iteration of Wandjina due to this. Not only is her appearance only Aboriginal on a surface-level with her 'dot art' aesthetic (dot art* is only a recent addition to Aboriginal culture, created back in the 1970s), having no resemblance to an Aboriginal person (note, that while many Aboriginal people are white/pale, FGO continually chooses to depict people of colour as light skinned as possible. And yes, I know she's blue, not white. There is literally no records of her being blue skinned; is this because Wandjina's are associated with rain????) but she is also not very Wandjina looking? These figures do not have mouths, have large eyes meant to resemble the eye of a storm and are typically depicted with elaborate headdresses. That little glowing boomerang on her head is not exactly elaborate. And WHY does she have a boomerang??? Because she's Australian???? By that logic, every Japanese figure needs to have a katana. #GiveMurasakiaKatana2023.
There is also the issue of Cnoc na Riabh. While it is funny to think that she's a foreigner because of an Australian influence, Yaraan-doo is also another Aboriginal figure. And it is slapped onto a white girl for a fan service event. I'd just rather Fate leave Aboriginal culture alone and just do, like, Ned Kelly or something if they're going to continue like this.
More resources and info under the read more!
You'll have noted in the quotes that I've edited an 'n' into wanjinas. This is so I didn't confuse anyone: both can be the correct spelling! I just stuck to what I thought FGO was using for their Wandjina.
Here's an overview of what wandjinas are and their inappropriate use in art: https://www.creativespirits.info/aboriginalculture/arts/what-are-wandjinas
Here's another page about an inappropriate use of Wandjinas (note: it's only a short synopsis about a documentary that covered the incident, I'm uncertain if you would be able to get access to the documentary outside of Australia): https://www.creativespirits.info/resources/movies/who-paintin-dis-wandjina
It should also be noted that the two websites I've linked above are from the website Creative Spirits. While it is run by a non-Indigenous person, the person behind it is currently transitioning it to be an Aboriginal owned and run resource. You can read more about how this site is run in his About page.
*If you want to know about dot art's origin, here and here are some resources on them. However, this article brings up something interesting that I would like to bring back to FGO Wandjina's dot art aesthetic. It notes that "the term 'dot painting' stems from what the Western eye sees when faced with contemporary Aboriginal acrylic paintings" (emphasis mine). All three articles note that dots were used to obfuscate sacred symbols and artifacts so that those who were not initiated into their cultures could not see what these figures were. In that case, what the hell is the dot art seen on Fate's Wandjina supposed to represent? In this article, it talks about the symbolism in Indigenous art. Fate's Wandjina has none.

I’ve been talking and thinking about minimalist living for I don’t know how long. ginawa ko pa siyang topic nung nag mini talk ako sa office yr 2018/2019 ata? pero looking at me now, di ko pa rin talaga siya naaachieve, lagi ako nagrerelapse. like, magdedeclutter ako, then ayoko gumastos ng malaki para sa quality stuff, ending di ko nagugustuhan binibili ko, then bibili ulit and ulit and ulit.
so ngayon, di na talaga ako masyado nanghihinayang sa mga binibili kong “quality” pieces. atleast, isa nalang, kesa dalawa, tatlo, lima. no joke, sampu ata basic black tops ko pero ni isa dun, wala akong masasabing “the one”.
dejk, jina justify ko lang paggastos ko. 💸💸 haha no but srsly.. quality >>>>>> quantity. grr
ps. ayoko idisregard yung mini improvements ko towards minimalist living like just owning less in general than before, so good job pa rin, self. just work on it harder lang… and faster. inip na ako 😠
pps. nung sinabi nilang transitioning to minimalist living can take you yearsssss. pinatunayan ko naman. pero true kasi. kung hard na siya sakin as someone na hindi naman hoarder, what more sa iba
ppps. this is not my hormones talking, yung pagka oa lang

Ufunuo 3:11-13 “Ninakuja upesi.
11-13 I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have—let no one deprive you of your crown. As for the victorious, I will make him a pillar in the Temple of my God, and he will never leave it. I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which comes down out of Heaven from my God. And I will write upon him my own new name. dongkyung had changed from her hospital gown into street clothes quickly. while her doctor told her she had to stay longer for more check-ups, she simply did not have the time. summer classes would be starting soon and she needed to finalize the paperwork. she wasn't in any pain. if not for the marks on her neck, dongkyung wouldn't have even known she was hurt. slowly, she opened the room door and checked to make sure her doctor was gone. he had been by her side all day, overbearingly so, and from that she doubted he'd be keen on her skipping out on the full check-up. when she checked the right sight she saw the woman sitting in the chair outside her door— sobbing. it gave her pause in her escape attempt. there are only so many reasons a person would be crying hysterically in a hospital, and none of them were good. darn her bleeding heart. dongkyung rummaged in her bag until she found a pocket tissue pack. "um, pardon the intrusion, but..." she trailed off as she held out the package to the other.

dongkyung takes a seat and smiles, teasingly poking her side. "last chapter? does that mean i finally get to read what you've been working on?" she had waited out until the end of the school year before resigning as a teacher. as fun as it was, she much preferred being an editor. "drinks are a must! we have to celebrate."
@spellbcok
Ji Na smiles when her best friend enters her home. She shuts her laptop and pats the seat by the couch. "I'm so happy you're here. Come sit. I just finished the last chapter, so I am all yours. Can we have drinks?"

The Chanoyu Hyaku-shu [茶湯百首], Part I:  Poem 22.
Tumblr media
〽 Shina-jina no kama ni yorite no na ha ōi            kama no sōmei kansu to zo iu
     [品〻の釜によりての名は多し、            釜の總名鑵子とぞ云う].
“Even though the many different kinds of kama all have different names, the general term for kama is kansu [鑵子].”
Tumblr media
Kansu [鑵子] refers to a vessel that was used to boil water, regardless of whether it was made of bronze, brass, or iron.  Historically, it is said that kansu in Western Japan were suspended over the fire by means of a hane [羽]¹ (flange) that projected from the sides of the kama and which rested on either side of the fire-hole (in the kamado [竈]²), while in Eastern Japan, the preference was for the kansu that were made to be suspended over the fire on a chain (these kansu lacked the hane).
Tumblr media
Only the earliest version of this poem -- in the collection that was given to Matsu-ya Hisamasa -- differs ever so slightly from the others:
〽 shina-jina no kama ni yorite no na ha aredo, kama no sō-mei kansu to zo iu
[品々の釜によりての名はあれど、 釜の總名くゎんすとぞ云う].
“Although their different names depend on [the shape or other particulars of] the kama, the generic name for [all] kama is kwansu³.”
Tumblr media
Aside from minor changes to the grammar, the meaning is identical to the version found in all of the other manuscripts.
_________________________
¹That is, they were ha-gama [羽釜].  A kansu of this type is shown below.
Tumblr media
Note that this is not a kama made for chanoyu, but a kansu, made for heating water on the kamado.  Pieces of this sort have narrower mouths than pots that were made for cooking food, to minimize evaporation.
²A kamado [竈] was the east Asian equivalent of a kitchen stove.  Usually made of stones (though in later period fire-bricks were also used), the whole was covered with mud-plaster (for insulation).  The kamado was usually located under the eves at the back side of the residence, with the area open on at least one side (to allow the fumes and smells to dissipate without affecting the air inside the residence).
Tumblr media
Residential kamado generally had two kake-guchi [掛口], the openings in the top where pots were suspended over the fire -- one was designed to accommodate the large rice-cooking pot, and the other a smaller nabe [鍋] for boiling soups (of course either could be used for other purposes, once these important dishes had been prepared).  Fuel -- either charcoal (in wealthier households) or firewood, is fed to the fire through the hi-guchi [火口] in the front of the kamado.
³Literally, the name is written (phonetically) as kwansu [くゎんす] in pre-modern Japanese.  The modern pronunciation is kansu.
