I just had to draw the Zoras from the trailer, they were adorable in my honest opinion TωT
The female Zora who I believe is the Zora princess due to her tiara thingy is the wrong color I know, but I don't have a light purple marker :(

So my first LoZ game was TOTK. I got it as a gift and I just recently obtained BOTW. After watching the Echoes of Wisdom trailer, I have a few questions and figured considering the document u could prolly answer.
Are the Rito a staple of the game? They don't appear to be in EoW.
Are Sidon, Riju, Yunobo, and Tulin/Teba similar staples? Do their tribes appear without them, the characters changing?
What are Deku? Are they korok alternatives?
Finally, where do u think the game would fall on the timeline?
Thank you so much.
omg yaaay i havent talked at length about zelda lore/theories in a while lets go
Rito are a relatively new addition to the franchise. the only games which feature them are wind waker (2002) and its sequels, and botw (2016) and its sequels. the canonical explanation for why the rito just showed up is that they evolved in the thousands of years between wind waker and the game that came before it on the timeline. Based on the general vibe of eow i've seen in the trailers, it looks like it probably comes before wind waker on the timeline or exists in a different timeline entirely. so i think the rito probably haven't evolved yet. because the rito haven't been around since the very beginning like other races in the games, the devs seem to have more freedom to pick and choose whether they want them around, so i wouldn't exactly call them a staple race in the way that zora and gorons are.
While the RACES of hyrule are staples of the franchise, the specific champions we see in botw/totk are not. those characters don't reincarnate the way link, zelda, and ganon do, so they only exist within that one specific link's time. So while we'll definitely zee zora and gorons in eow, we almost definitely aren't going to see any familiar characters.
Deku are a race of forest spirit-adjacent. things. their first appearance was in oot iirc. the great deku tree, as you may remember from botw/totk, is a very old, very powerful forest spirit who rules over the forest. in oot, deku scrubs were usually hostiles you had to either fight or negotiate with, and in mm, link could become a deku scrub via a kind of terrifying mechanic we don't have to get into here. based on the eow trailer, in this version of hyrule the deku scrubs are korok/kokiri substitutes. the race that lives in the forest is one of the most inconsistent pieces of overarching zelda lore, so yeah tldr you can just assume theyre basically koroks.
the timeline question is. well. before the most recent trailer I was almost completely convinced that it was going to be on the alttp timeline, somewhere after link's awakening. but that was based solely on the vibes and the bare glimpses of the hyrule map we got in the first trailer. now that we've gotten a much more extensive look at the map and the races of hyrule, I think it's a little more likely that the game takes place sometime before oot. the map looks similar enough to minish cap while featuring races and regions that made their debut in oot, so I think that it makes sense for the game to fall somewhere in between the two, and I think that a lot of the choices they made sort of lend themselves to the game being a transition between minish cap/4 swords and oot. the crack theory is that it takes place AFTER botw/totk, purely because of how visually similar bind looks to ultrahand and the appearance of certain races being super similar to botw/totk, but i think the pre-oot theory is MUCH more likely.
#the addition of sea vs river zora is killing me btw. nothing like a one off line in a trailer to make me insane for days on end#asks#i do think the combat system of eow looks annoying as shit still tho. that being said i have preordered already

I want to make it clear from the outset that having headcanons or theories is not a problem. Getting frustrated when they don't come true is not a problem either. But it is when people treat these headcanons as if Nintendo had an obligation to fulfill them.
I find it genuinely funny how some fans got so deep into their headcanons to the point of getting angry at the existence of Yona (poor girl) and the fact that Sidon is in a straight relationship, but that doesn't surprise me coming from people who claim to fight against stereotypes but are the ones who live and propagate stereotypes the most (the amount that most of the queer people I've met have been bugging me about being bisexual and aromantic is unbelievable).
I mean, as if canon would stop fujoshis from turning all the men in a series gay, no matter their sexuality, way of behaving or if they're in a relationship or not, so I don't understand why they say that Nintendo "removed the queer coding" when this was just a hc, Nintendo never implied that Sidon was queer, if they had said something like "a Zelda character will be queer" I could even understand, but that wasn't the case.
Now, in my opinion, the way Sidon talks and treats Link reminds me a lot of how my sister acts with the BTS boys, I think Sidon has a very idealized vision of Link, he talks about Link as if he were his favorite Marvel superhero and if we take into account that Link doesn't even seem to have frequented the Zora Region much during the time between Botw and Totk and that his ring doesn't even go on his ring finger.... anyway, it was cool to see Sidon's maturity, although his behavior is adorable, he's not a baby anymore.
I admit that Yona's introduction came out of nowhere, but honestly, TOTK introduces and disappears characters out of nowhere, Kass simply disappeared from the map, NPCs forgot about Link and the whole story of Sonia and Rauru also came out of absolutely nowhere. If Yona was the only one in this situation I would give her the benefit of the doubt, but that's not the case.
Not to mention that for a game ""with a hetero code"" I wonder why Nintendo didn't confirm right away that Link and Zelda are a couple instead of just saying this, I swear, how hard is it to formalize them? People will complain about anything, but no, Nintendo is afraid of I don't know what.
I will never forgive Nintendo for taking away the possibility of Zelda being a companion in the adventure or at least having a more constant presence. Thanks to that, I am living off of fanfics and fanarts.
P. S.: I wonder, if we ever get a remake of OoT, if Nintendo gives Malon a husband or canonizes OoT Zelink, how the fandom will react to that?
P. S. S.: Also, since people still complain to this day that TotK didn't turn Ganondorf into a "uwu boy who's just a poor victim of circumstances", a theory fueled by the appearance that the 10,000-year-old Hero had on the tapestry is because Ganondorf is a sexy man.
Although, on this last point I have to be honest, I was disappointed with the fact that Nintendo basically threw away the cinematics from the first TotK trailer and basically ignored the Sheikah technology, everything that Botw had hinted about the Zonai and the whole story of the Calamity from 10,000 years before Botw.
Anyway, it's just a question of how this fandom takes headcanons as if they were an absolute truth, and this ends up causing unnecessary fights because no one wants to admit that their hc may be unlikely to happen.
But that's just my opinion. Thank you for reading.

The Black Bulls but it’s Trailer Park Boys
[Asta and Noelle watching a Sasquatch documentary, as is Magna in his own room]
Asta: Those big hairy monsters are real, Noelle.
Noelle: No they aren’t.
Asta: Come on, what person ever moved like that in the history of people?
[Zora, getting off his uncomfortable bed]
Zora, groaning: …fuck….
[Zora wraps himself up in a warm bearskin rug and goes to Magna’s room. The door opens but is blocked by something, exposing only his hairy looking hand]
Magna, whispering: Oh. My. Fuck. [quickly dials Asta's number]
Asta, answering the phone: Hello? Oh hey Magna! Man, are you watching this documentary on Saskatchewans?
Magna, whispering: It’s samsquanch, Asta! There’s one right outside my door and he’s trying to get into my room!
Asta: Holy shit! Don’t scare him off, that fucker’s worth a lot of money! I’ll take him by surprise then we’ll both attack him!
Asta, turning the corner with a baseball bat: [spots Zora in his bearskin and tackles him from behind] Let’s get this bastard, Magna!
Magna, leaping out of his room with a baseball bat: EEEAAAAAGH!!
[Asta and Magna beat Zora with baseball bats until Zora grabs Magna’s]
Magna: He’s got my bat! He’s got my-
Zora: [strikes Magna in the side and Asta in the leg]
Magna: I’m down! Crack him, Asta!
Asta: [beats Zora to the ground]
Magna: Ha ha, you beat him!
Zora, muffled, in pain: What the fuck are you guys doing?!
Asta: Holy shit Magna, he can talk!
Magna: Oh Asta, that’s because he is Zora!
Asta: Holy shit Zora, are you okay?
Zora: [collapses and strikes his head on the wall]

Tears of the Kingdom Predictions
The following had derailed my afternoon:
and I had to write out my thoughts.
So I saw the official art of Sidon and saw no crown or jewel on his hand.
But watching trailer again low and behold I noticed this:
The fact that these don't show up in his first appearance in the trailer
led me to believe that he becomes king during the events of the game. Either his father abdicated...or Ganon's shenanigans have caused calamity to befall Zora's domain. King Doraphine could just be missing and Sidon takes up the mantle temporarily or maybe something more severe has happened to the king and he can no longer rule.
So that explains the crown..bit what of the blue pearl on the back of his hand? Well, let me show you this:
There right there! On either Tulin's bow or lower leg is the same jewel but green! This image comes a up for a split second in the trailer, and you can see Sidon's in the background.
I couldn't find Riju's so if anyone can spot it please @ me, but this all but confirms my theory (see here) that the new Champions have had the previous Champions abilities passed down to them, imbued in magic stones given to them by who else other than the hero?
Let me tell you I got so excited when I caught this!!
Also, Tulin is the new Rito Champion (or at least the one assisting Link in combating the giant tornado) not Teba because his arm hasn't fully recovered from getting hit by Vah Medoh's lasers. His arm may never fully recover. As for Yunobo's lack of any kind of appearance...I have nothing. What do you think?
Also also, I predict Riju will assist Link's campaign in the desert, maybe something to do with the sinking pits in the Arbiter's Grounds. And Sidon will help Link in the skies and/or something lake or ocean related. They'll both get the champion abilities for those quests.
~~~
Thanks for reading!
So, there's a new Echoes of Wisdom trailer. There's a few points I want to talk about, so give that a glance if you can.
youtube
We now know things! A few things, however, stood out to me like a giant neon sign.
There's the obvious hints that screw with any of our initial timeline assumptions, which just shows how annoying it is that Zelda Theorists tend to jump on definitive answers when we have nowhere near the full picture. As a friend of mine pointed out, Gerudo tend to exist in every timeline except the Downfall. The Sea/River Zora split, however, only appears in the Downfall Era. Deku Scrubs, however, give me a headache: their primary presence is antagonistic in Ocarina of Time, their next appearance is Majora's Mask which does not take place in Hyrule; following this is Minish Cap, where they are debateably friendly; and Triforce Heroes which I did not play, but is a Downfall Era game.
The placement of Kakariko Village in relation to Death Mountain is interesting, as this is seen in Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess but to my memory, no other game. Additionally, Death Mountain is known as Eldin Mountain here, which is exclusively seen in Skyward Sword, to my memory.
The Zora having the Sea/River split is Downfall exclusive, but what's interesting is that their villages are not found in a named Lanayru Region, but the Jabul Region (named obviously for Jabu Jabu, Jabun, etc). This could just be an odd naming convention, but we will get to this momentarily. We also see a snowy Region which might be Hebra, though let's not forget that Twilight Princess places its snowy mountains in Lanayru, if I recall correctly. What's interesting about this snowy Region is we see none of it in the trailers, but I'm going to assume there's some residency or settlement there. If so, it could be Rito as established by Breath of the Wild, it could be Yeti, as established by Twilight Princess, it could be Anouki, as seen in Phantom Hourglass. It could be any of the previously seen and confirmed to be present Races, or it could be uninhabited. We don't know, but it does have gears turning to me.
What's honestly jumping out to me the most though is the Gordo. Yeah, a single enemy is causing me a spectacular degree of headache and speculation. If I recall correctly, they appear in exactly one game: Link's Awakening. They are notable though, as they are not traditional Zelda enemies, they are Kirby enemies. They exist as roadblocks in Link's Awakening, but they are another piece of evidence hinting at the true nature of Koholint Island. Now, Echoes of Wisdom clearly borrows a substantial amount from the Switch version of Link's Awakening, so it could just be a bear developmental Easter Egg. Or it could be a hint at a significant development. Or I'm overthinking that, which is a distinct possibility.
Zelda walking into the fissures at the end of this trailer seems to hint at more Dual World gameplay. This is to be expected, as Dual World gameplay is kind of a staple of the series. As this Hyrule does take inspiration from the Hyrule of A Link to the Past (and its sequel), it wouldn't be too farfetched for us to assume there's another bit of Light World/Dark World, Hyrule/Lorule interplay here. Again, an assumption with little evidence.
Yikes, a lot of timey-wimey discussion and I haven't even hit of any of the more pressing details: the Bind Mechanic.
Bind is clearly an answer to Magnesis and Ultrahand, with Reverse Bond being the exact same mechanic... in REVERSE!! I have nothing to say about Bind because we've had two games with this mechanic that have sold me on it as a puzzle-solving tool, but the use of Reverse Bond reminds me a bit of the Hookshot in some situations, and the Dominion Rod in others (is the Tri Rod the Cane of Somaria, or the Dominion Rod??? I can hear some theorists screaming in hyper-editted video format. No, no it likely isn't. There's no evidence of either, at this point).
Horses! Zelda is seen riding two separate horses, which imply that she doesn't just have the one and can likely find and tame others, or that she has the option of purchasing or gaining different horses with different stats through quests or other means. I like the white one! It's preeeeeeetty. (Did that make you uncomfortable, hearing that in my own voice made me uncomfortable, and since you have no idea what my voice sounds like, just assume Sméagol's first encounter with Shadowfax).
Outfits! I have no opinion here. I cared about playing dress-up in Tears of the Kingdom for one reason, and that took 152 Shrines to deal with. But, if Zelda receives an outfit based on the three Dragon Armors, she will be the most Opulent Princess to ever Opulent Princess!
There's definitely an obvious focus on finding your own solutions which is becoming the new normal for Zelda titles, and I absolutely love this approach. Though I see there's a bit of backlash from other fans, who would like a more traditional approach where one puzzle has one solution. I enjoy those games, I adore those games. I love the direction we are taking though, and if we could find a healthy blend between the two, I do feel we will have reached peak Zelda.
I'm excited, my excitement has not wavered but it has been renewed. I'm ready for this game!
EoW thoughts!! I wrote them as I was playing :)
It is Long so it's under a cut!
OKAY these bullet points I made as I was playing, but I stopped writing things down after a while just to focus on the game. and then I got distracted and finished the entire zora section
My first surprise, I went "YOU PLAY AS LINK??" which is an utterly deranged thing to be surprised about in literally any other zelda game
Return of dedicated jump button!! parkouring time
Ganon laughing after being murderized is probably not a great sign I'll be honest
Zelda breaking out!! RUNNING FROM THE CRACKS IN REALITY!! and little golden light to guide us!! Intriguing
She's been gone a week and there have been rifts in that time already? So what link fell into wasn't a new phenomenon
Some of these villager voice lines are very very reminiscent of botw/totk, i wonder if they reused some of the sounds??
okay so the rifts are Really not new, if they been appearing for 'a long time' according to the king, stealing specifically children? and now adults, too, for whatever reason
DAD NOOOOOOO
WRIGHT AND LEFTE TOO?? WE CANT HAVE ANYTHING NICE
ooo this is clever, I was wondering why Zelda was wearing Link's cloak in the trailer, but if the people all think she's the one causing the rifts then it makes sense! She's gonna have to hide her identity (to avoid EXECUTION?? ok nintendo. good heavens). Also, generic King of Hyrule sacrificing his life to save his beloved daughter, king rhoam bosphoramus hyrule could never
TRI!! It's nice to meet you :) you are very casual about this whole execution thing, friend. They feel very inhuman, but in the fun way, like they don't quite understand human limits. like what do you mean you can't phase through these bars? i mean, that's weird, but you can have this magic stick I guess
I really enjoyed the stealth bit getting out of the dungeons! And Impa!!! IMPA!!! I love you badass old lady :') thank you for coming my escape and giving me a musty old dress. maybe taking off the crown would've helped the disguise. whatever. zelda's going through the wringer, she deserves to keep her crown if she wants
This game is very pretty :) also I just got my first piece of heart! Had to do some clever stacking on various objects to reach it, but I managed!! I really like the problem solving so far
second heart piece acquired
LINK'S HOUSE. WAAAAAAAAA I NEED TO SAVE HIM
As soon as I gained access to monster echos I started saying "go my scarab" every time I make one to fight other monsters for me
OK so after all that, I started just playing without writing things down, but I still wanna keep track of my thoughts!! I found a bunch of other heart pieces, and I REALLY like the puzzle solving in this game. The switches to more 2D platformer sections are SO fun and such a great idea, since it has way more of that classic, tightly designed puzzle stuff that zelda is so known for. At the same time, you have so many options for other ways to solve problems and think creatively, im having so much fun with it!
The wealth of options kind of makes me overthink things lol, like the first heart piece I found would have been incredibly easy to access via the water, but for some reason I didn't think that was an option, and instead spent a solid 5 minutes figuring out the right combination to stack items and get on top of something two blocks high, so I could climb the surrounding cliffs to reach the heart piece. But also, I felt so dang accomplished by the end, I wasn't even mad that there was an easier way! Plus, I used the knowledge I gained there in the future, to help me access various parts of the terrain :D
The dungeons!! I've finished the first one, and also the zora questline :) im really enjoying the return to more classic dungeon design, but like I said before, it's still open to plenty of options in solving the puzzles. The still world is very cool, I like the vibes. The fact that a ton of children have been taken there and never returned? Spooky. I'm gonna give my early-game theory now, and guess that Tri's friends come from the lost children that fell into the rifts. Idk those are the vibes rn.
The combat is fun! mostly in the way I'll send out a monster and stand back to watch them rip each other apart. the peahat is my favorite I love that thing
Also!!! Link!! Falling into the rift, but escaping with a few others? Losing his ability to speak from it? The way you meet so many other characters around the world that have met him and been touched by his life??? He's had his own whole adventure before zelda!! That's reflected in his abilities and hearts and stuff in the beginning, but still!! It's cool to see glimpses of what he was up to before saving zelda.
I'm working on the gerudo questline right now, just started the dungeon, and link(?) is here! It might be another shadow like the one from the first temple, but it would be neat to think that he's been working to help from the still world while we help in the original one :)
ANYWAY I'll make another post when I've got more to say but so far im really loving echos of wisdom!! Zelda's characterization in this is so fun, I love her :')
#loz#eow liveblog#eow spoilers#eow#also!! this game is so prettyyyy I never got the chance to play the links awakening remake so this is my first exposure#I really like the style!!#also. was not joking about the 'go my scarab' thing#I've been saying it practically every time I send out a peahat
I finished Tears of the Kingdom, so here are my thoughts
I recently finished Tears of the Kingdom and wow... wow! The game was beautiful all the way through. As such, I'd like to talk about my experience and thoughts.
DISCLAIMER: this post contains spoilers for the game. Read at your own risk.
Additionally, please don't take my opinions too seriously. I'm just someone on the internet. You don't have to agree or disagree but please be respectful.
Without further ado...
Overview:
Tears of the Kingdom is a beautiful game. Absolutely beautiful, from the designs to the scores to the gameplay. All of it, beautiful.
That being said, it took some adjusting. I missed having the convenience of our elemental and bomb arrows, I missed not having to pay for every time I wanted armor upgraded, and I missed not having to fight against the RNG to get items I needed for upgraded armor. The map did have some changes that took getting used to, and some of my favorite ingredient/monster part hunting spots were no longer there, so that sucked.
But it fits the story, I find. I like how the weapons changed due to the Upheaval (though I'm a bit confused as to how bows aren't decayed), how the monsters evolved and the new monsters that came, and how the Great Fairies function — we learned in Breath of the Wild that rupees gave them power, and I found that it made more sense to pay for the upgrades instead of just a one time payment.
That being said, while TOTK takes place some time after the events of BOTW, there were some things that left me feeling empty. What happened to all the guardians? The Divine Beasts? The Sheikah towers and the shrines? The Sheikah Slate? It just seems weird to me that they would just vanish without an explanation... especially the Beasts.
On top of that, I missed the Champions. I was thrilled to see that Mipha was still a big part of Zora's Domain and with Sidon's plotline, and I love her water gardens, but I was so scared when I didn't see her statue at first.
But to continue, while it makes sense for the Zora to keep Mipha very much alive considering how beloved she is, it felt strange that the other three weren't mentioned at all. Teba has a Great Eagle Bow, and Tulin can create gusts of wind, but no concrete to homage to Revali. Riju had dual Scimitar of the Seven, which Urbosa wielded, but she's not mentioned. Heck, Yonobo is the grandchild of Daruk (source is the Creating a Champion artbook), yet Daruk's Protection has disappeared and he's not mentioned at all.
Don't get me wrong, I understand why they wouldn't be prominent. TOTK is not BOTW, and the Champions and Divine Beasts are no longer the center focus. Still, it feels weird that they were expunged entirely. At least we have those cool helms!
Regional Phenomenon Questline:
I'm going to break this down the way I completed them... which was in the exact same way as I did in BOTW! Why not, it was fun. And also, the first region will allow me to address a big elephant in the room...
Zora's Domain and the Water Temple
Zora's Domain was the first region I completed in both games, and I was so happy to be back. I love the score in the Domain, I just find it so soothing... and it's the home of my favorite fish people!
I found it super goofy that Bazz was trapped under sludge. Like sir, you didn't see that falling? You didn't look up? At least he was ok in the end. King Dorephan being alive gave me a lot of relief. Don't get me wrong, in the trailers I was stoked to see Sidon as king, but what happened to his big ol' dad? I also love his new outfit after he gives his son the crown. Also, I love how to reveal the new statue of Sidon and Link, you have to clean it and then boom — Link riding Sidon statue.
Can I just say I love Sidon's new attire? It looks so good on him. I love the little navy blue addition to his ascots and I'm very happy to see they kept the whistle. Sidon is a big comfort character of mine, so reuniting with him first was like chicken soup for the soul. I also love the water manipulation ability. It's a very cool ability to have and it's very fitting for the Zora (naturally). A little sad he doesn't dual wield spears like he had in AOC, but regardless, he's great. He's great. I love Sidon. He's a card.
Now, with the Water Temple, I found it just a bit underwhelming. It's beautifully designed, don't get me wrong, and I love his ancestor and how Sidon gets his secret stone on his glove and he gives Link his vow (I don't ship Sidlink but that was fruity). But what I found underwhelming was the boss. Compared to the others, having the goofy Mucktorok felt a little... hmm... it was a fun fight, however! I did have fun! For my, compared to Waterblight Ganon from BOTW and the Scourges in the other temples, to me, it felt a little subpar.
Now I've addressed this before but now that I've played through and can make a better statement than my previous one a lot better... let's talk about Yona.
I like her! She's super cute! I have grown attached to her style and her character, and she has such a sweet little theme. My only big issue with her is, I find her to be one dimensional. Now, I'm not attacking her or hating on her. I think Yona as a character has an immense amount of potential, the writing for her is just... a little bland. The romantic subplot with her and Sidon and her story feels lackluster. I think, if they wanted to show Sidon's fear of losing someone else, someone he loves, I have the perfect man for the job — King Dorephan. Dorephan is his father, and the last remaining family Sidon has left. With Dorephan actually injured, I find it would make more sense for that subplot to be about their father-son bond. Maybe after finding out Dorephan is injured and in hiding, Sidon goes to find his father and it's Dorephan who tells him to be strong and to help link. In my opinion, that's more plausible.
Back to my original thought, I wish Yona had more development as a character. It's very clear she means a lot to Sidon and vice versa, but I wish there was more instead of her just being thrown in. If she's his dearest friend since childhood, I would have loved to have heard more about her in BOTW. I just want to know more about her. I want to see more character in her. And yes, to address the whole marriage debate — yes, Sidon saw her as a sister, and yes his feelings "became difficult to quantify." Feelings are changing all the time. In my opinion, it feels weird to someone who considers another family to suddenly fall in love with them. But that's just me.
To the Sidona shippers: y'all rock. While I personally don't ship Sidona, I support y'all. I am in love with all the artwork and writing I have found of them, and the way I look at it, it's more art of Sidon I get to enjoy. This is a Yona hate free zone, I will not entertain Yona hate.
To the other shippers, Sidlink and all: it's canon, we cannot change it. But! AUs exist. Headcanons exist. Heck, if Yona bothers you that much, ignore her all together. Nothing is going to stop you from shipping Sidlink and Sidon with ocs, so please be positive and keep doing what you're doing. I myself will continue making art and writing of my oc/canon ship with Sidon and my OC, because that's what makes me happy. I have some art and stories of them I plan to share, and I really hope you like them too :)))
Rito Village and the Wind Temple
Now, back on track after my tangent about Yona. The Rito Village was the second location I tackled and oh my god, I got a kick out of the kids running the village. I love how they tried to help keep the town in order while the adults were trying to find the source of the blizzard and gather supplies.
I was super relieved to find Teba alright, I know we were all afraid that he was dead or something considering he wasn't in the trailer. But I love Teba very much, and I was thrilled to see him again.
Tulin is PRECIOUS. My little nephew. I love how he looks fully-fledged, and he's such a sweet li'l rascal... and the fact his quiver has his parents' feathers on there, it is such a cute gesture.
Quick aside, I love Penn, but I MISS KASS... where did he go... I miss hearing his accordion.
The Wind Temple, I find, was the most challenging to get to. I remember stacking three Zonai springs together at one point just to get to where I needed to go because for the life of me I could not get that one floating rock. I loved the bouncy sails on the ships. It gave me the kinda vibes a bouncy castle does.
The temple being the Stormwind Arc and not an actual building was delicious. A very nice touch. That being said, I love how different all the temples are: we have one in the sky that's actually a temple, the other is a flying ship, there's a temple in the depths, and then one on good ol' terra firma.
I LOVE the design of Colgera. Granted, I did do the temple at night, so it did scare me just a bit. It was a lot of fun to fight, and the cutscene of the sky becoming clear with Teba on Revali's Landing was perfect. It was a very sweet scene to add, when Tulin received his father's bow, the Great Eagle Bow, and the scarf as a nod to Revali. I wish the bow Teba made for me had the scarf...
Goron City and the Fire Temple
I personally miss that region flowing with lava. I felt it really drove home how hot the mountain is and the environment the Goron lived in, but it's much easier to traverse and it's nice to see there's still lava in the deeper caves.
I adore Yunobo, and seeing him become rude made me so sad. That's not my boy! I wanted my boy back! Making me fight him was not cool! He's such a good, kind character that it legit made me so sad to see him possessed by that mask.
I'll admit... I cheated the Fire Temple. I love the music score in that temple, and I had a lot of fun there, but I'll be the first to admit that I did not care for the mine cart system. I just climbed to where I needed to go. I'm sorry, that system really confused me and my ADHD was having none of it. So I figured I'd just cut to the chase and just climb.
I really like how the checkpoints were gongs, and having Yunobo barrel into them was very reminiscent of how we had to launch him to drive off Vah Rudania in BOTW.
The boss for the temple, left me feeling a little underwhelmed like the Mucktorok. Just break Marbled Gohma's legs and then beat the shit out of it. I can't say it wasn't entertaining though use Yunobo like that as if we were bowling.
The fist bump for the vow was such a quirky touch for Yunobo. I love it. It was really so sweet. And I love seeing Yunobo's resolve to become a stronger individual. His character growth from being a timid Goron in BOTW to now, I'm so proud of him. I feel like a proud mom.
Gerudo Town and the Lightning Temple
The gibdos absolutely terrified me. I ran into them not realizing the were there on my first time going to Gerudo town and I did not think to use elemental anything so when my most powerful weapons didn't make a dent, I panicked. Though admittedly, the moth gibdo wings are very pretty... still terrifying. I'm just glad we didn't have redeads.
Riju is SO pretty. I love her new hairstyle. At first I really missed her long hair, but she rocks her new short style. I've always loved Riju, and her reintroduction.
The Lightning Temple had to be one of, if not my favorite temple. I found it had the most difficult puzzles for me to solve, and I enjoyed that. I found I was using my brain a lot more for that temple than the others... and I died in a lot of stupid ways because sometimes the most obvious solution isn't that clear to me.
As someone who is very afraid of bugs, Queen Gibdo did not do it for me. She very much gave me the heebie jeebies... but it was nice to watch the sandstorm fade away from the Gerudo desert, for Riju to return to the throne room in the town, and for the Gerudo to leave the emergency shelter and return to their daily lives.
Overall the Regional Phenomenal questline was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed myself.
The Dragon's Tears Questline:
This fucked me up. Learning about Zelda's time in the past leading up to her becoming the Light Dragon actually made me cry. It was fun to discover the geoglyphs and have them become a permanent part of the map, but oof... my heart.
I cried when Sonia died, and it hurt so much when there was the scene of Rauru at her grave. All of it was just heart wrenching, especially Zelda became a dragon after Mineru "died" and found shelter in the Purah Pad. When Zelda screamed for Link to "protect them all" as her eyes changed... oof... ruin me.
Crisis at Hyrule Castle and the Sixth Sage:
I think it was pretty obvious for me that the Zelda we had been seeing wasn't really Zelda. Running around Hyrule Castle in an attempt to reach her, only to fight monster forces was not a very pleasant affair, and the Phantom Ganon fights were also a bit of a pain, albeit fun nontheless.
I loved how the Sages came to Link's aid in the end. It made the game feel a lot less lonely. It made me very happy to see them there protecting Link. It really gave you a sense of how much they care about him, and what he means to them.
Finding the Sixth Sage was a lot of running around that I made much more difficult because I forgot the mask when I found it, so I had to go all the way back to get it, and I didn't realize I had to put the mask in the construct, so cut to me spending an hour trying to get the limbs for the robot when the depots weren't activated yet... oops.
I absolutely adore Mineru. She is so pretty, and I love her voice. I love how her character ties in the past and present, and how she fits so well in the story. And riding her construct was a lot of fun... the boss fight for her secret stone took me a hot minute to figure out... I'm a bit slow on the uptake sometime, so when I pushed the Ganon-controlled construct into the electric fence, I was legit surprised that that was what I was supposed to do.
Defeating Ganondorf:
First off, I would like to say I miscalculated how thick the pillar was on the way down into the Depths from Hyrule castle and I shattered Link's body on the side of it the first time I dove down. It was honestly really funny. It also was a strange disconnect at first as I made my way down to Ganon, because I did not realize how DEEP underground Zelda and Link went to even find this formerly dehydrated prune to begin with.
I was... SO happy and excited that I got to fight alongside the other Sages before going to fight Ganon. It felt so euphoric, like the culmination of all our efforts was coming to fruition and we were all finally comrades in arms. It felt way more personal than the fight with Calamity Ganon in BOTW.
Being separated from them made me so sad. It felt really helpless, watching Link being trapped in the cave while the others fought. Like no don't leave me!
But the final fight, from the beginning to the end, was STELLAR. For the Sages to rejoin us and we fight him all together?! Yes please! Granted his second form's extended life bar def gave me Dark Souls vibes, which is one of my favorite franchises (including Bloodborne) so that was fitting. Though watching my friends be thrown to the side had me scared there for a second.
Watching him become the Demon Dragon, as an individual who recently graduated with a degree in animation with a specialty in effects, was so tasty. And to watch it emerge from beneath Hyrule castle... I can only imagine what it felt like to watch it like that... and for the clearly much smaller Light Dragon come to rescue us... chills. Literal chills. The score for that cutscene was perfect. And for Link, in the face of dragon, to draw the Master Sword like no big deal? Incredible.
Fighting the Demon Dragon alongside the Light Dragon, and to watch it be destroyed was incredible. And for Link to receive his arm back and Zelda returning to normal, for Link to finally grab Zelda's hand and hold her as they fell into the water only to carry her out again... I'm a huge Zelink fan, so that made my heart soar.
The Ending:
The ending itself was beautiful. I was so moved when the current Sages gave the same pledge to Zelda as their ancestors had to Rauru, and I legit cried when Mineru moved on to the afterlife. It was sentimental, and beautiful. I don't think I could have asked for a better ending.
Final Thoughts:
This game... was stunning. It was everything I could have asked for in a sequel to Breath of the Wild. And sure, there are plenty of things to nitpick about, but I had such a positive experience, I'm not even going to bother with all of that.
It was a thrilling and fresh experience, and I enjoyed myself very much.
With that being said, I know we're all looking for DLC and another game. In my personal opinion, I think Tears of the Kingdom did a very good job of wrapping up this story. I'm all down for DLC, but I personally think BOTW and TOTK doesn't need a third game. I think the story these two games portrayed, from the story of the Champions and Calamity Ganon to the climax of defeating Ganon and saving Hyrule, is completed with the conclusion of TOTK.
Of course, that's all up for Nintendo, but I am satisfied with this. I'm very happy. I could not ask for more.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading! I appreciate you sticking it out with my silly little ramblings. I really hope you all enjoy Tears of the Kingdom as much as I did, and I am always down for discussions and stuff in regards to this!
Just a little reminder: I'm just one person on the internet. Please be respectful of my opinions!
And with all that, in mind, I hope you all have a wonderful day. And now, to play both games all over again.
Courier out.
Heyyyyyy how y’all doiiinnnggg…..
It’s been while, hey siri play “DEAD” by Melanie Martinez -
A) from that old post about what I would want to see in the fic: lwk I’m cool w/ whatever I put in (what I though was at the time) a prompt for like 500 words and did not think this far ahead 😭 lol I trust ur judgement on whatever gets added I’ll eat it up like those rlly yummy life saver mints
B) I’m back babyyyyyy the Ao3 curse works harder but I’m harder >:3
may or may not have almost died but that’s okay it keeps me on my toes. I have new medical insight on how to improve my whump 💪🤩😍
C) I’m abesolutely so sorry about that anon (ik I’m super late to the party) what they said was so out of line and I cannot think of what you could have even possibly done that would (unjustly) cause such a reaction?? People are assholes especially when they can abuse anonymousy online. I’m glad u seem to be doing ok 💜
D) I know i say this every time and blah blah blah but please make sure to not push urself over creating content and pleasing followers. I will (likely) not be dying anytime soon and I can wait as long as necessary for the Cia fic dude I make the prompt with the understanding that with you as the writer I would be meeting your needs/criteria for my silly little mentally ill twink to get sent through the meat grinder. Take as long as you need 💜
On a much less feely note:
E)
(No hate to you or anyone really who has this opinion)
Theory/hot take/opinion/etc:
Echoes of Wisdom (new game coming in sept) Zelda ≠ Fable (from SNES + game boy games)
Like, I get it, on a surface level it makes so much sense because the EOW game is in the same artsyle as the Links Awakening (remastered) game. Nintendo doesn’t really use the same artsyle with games (atleast since the N64) unless they are direct sequels, prequels, or otherwise linked (BOTW & AOC). New game but with the same artsyle as previous game? Obviously linked!
Except, no??? Here’s where that opinion doesn’t hold as strong:
the main peice of evidence here is that the Zelda in the trailers is the Zelda from OOT.
(I really wish I could put pictures as anon 😭)
Verbatim. That is her. She is wearing a pink dress, trapped in a pink crystal, while link fights and eventually cracks open said crystal. It’s hard to see the dress because of the crystal obscuring it, but in another clip (when the staff is first seen i believe) you can see her in the dress and it’s her.
Even if it’s not, it’s definitely not Fable.
There are two (?) versions of the Zelda’s that fall under “Fable”. one is in a blue dress (ALTTP) and one is in a white dress white a pink over apron-thingy. While its arguable that the crystal makes it look pink, or its too dark to see anything, ultimately the tabard is not the same and the top being two parts is not there, so no, its not Fable.
Which is really weird, because the Link is in fact the same link as the SNES + Gameboy (I call it the “Pixel Era”) Link. Brown Longsleeved undershirt + green sleeveless dress-tunic over it. Even weirder, he wield the hylian sheild. WHICH DID NOT EXIST BEFORE OOT. Again, not Pre-3D link.
It does exist in ALBW, meaning if you are into LU then it works with legend being the same person in all those games, but ALBW is canonically the “successor” to ALTTP
BUT GANON IS HERE?????? Hellooo????
(Fun fact: Gannon is what his pig/beast form is called while gannondorf is what his Gerudo form is called! :D)
Gannon only exists in the pixel Era games + ALBW. All of the 3d games use gannondorf. So this is such a weird thing to exist.
EVEN MORE CONFUSING, THE ZORA!?!??!?
If you don’t know what im referring to, for like literally 2-5 seconds there is a clip of the zora of this game. Ok, cool. Zelda game, with water, therefore there’s obviously gonna be zora.
(This is a “duh” moment for older fans but pls stick with me lol)
There are two versions of the zora: pre-OoT and post-OoT. TLDR; pre-OoT they look like horrifying fish monsters and try to kill you, Post-OoT they become hot and even get shipped with link in the later games. Hyrule historia (which is not the most reliable sometimes) explains it better but it has to do with the big Triple Timeline. The difference in zora design depends on which timeline you’re looking at, one of the timelines doesn’t have them at all.
So what’s so confusing? Is does the zora design not fit?
Yes!! You know why? BECAUSE THERE ARE TWO OF THEM. BOTH ZORA DESIGNS. IN THE SAME GAME. CLEARLY INTERACTING IN THE FIVE SECOND CLIP.
Also this was pointed out by my sibling: in the beginning, the hood long wears is eerily similar to the Hylian Hood in totk/botw. Later on in the trailer, my cousin pointed out a canon that looked “like it was zonai tech” but it was just a green cannon so tbh that’s more loose.
The Gaurd designs are also kinda weird to me? I can’t tie them back to any of the games bc of the weird helmet shape, and their uniforms look exactly like link’s first outfit in Hyrule warriors, though that seems unintentional.
Anyways. This game is. Something. I really don’t think it’s related to previous games (I hope not for the sake of lore holes it could tear up) but what we do know is:
- OoT Zelda has been taught Ctrl C + Ctrl V by magic yellow orb and uses a staff.
- Likely Takes place in the downfall timeline due to artstyle, the fact that the enemy zora exist, and the fact that Gannon is here in beast form
- atleast some inspiration from botw/Totk with the copying and open exploration mechanics
- there is maybe some alternate space/dimension bullshit from that one clip of Zelda moving blocks of water like she’s Moses
- takes place where the Hylian shield exists and therefore likely the story of a hero is still a thing
- takes place where BOTH ZORA meet and interact with eachother
This is driving me crazy. My dad says it’s the Zelda multiverse 😭
Sorry for the word vomit, I rlly needed to info dump ✌️
Your favorite void crawler,
Mandarin Warriors 🍊
OH MY GOD HEY, HI, I WAS GENUINELY WORRIED ABOUT YA
a. alskkddk okay 👍
b. oh my god I really hope that you’re doing okay dude, or at least that you’re feeling a bit better 🫶🫶🫶 sending hugs and love your way my guy
c. people sometimes suck and I considered turning off anons for a bit after that but i have too many wonderful anons and id hate to lose any of em because of one idiot
d. it’s going to be the next thing I put up when I come back from my so called ‘mental health break from writing’ 😭 (i literally can’t seem to stop writing, i am glued to my google docs 💔). Im not sure if you saw the post (and its totally okay if you didn’t, youve clearly been going through a lot and i genuinely hope that you’re okay) where I said part of why it’s takin so long js because I’m writing two separate versions of the fic because it’s heavy enough I feel it should be rated mature, but I’m making a ‘watered down version’ for people who were really waiting for this fic but dont wanna read anything rated higher than teen. I don’t write explicit things, but we’ve crossed the line from ‘implying things’ and into the ‘traumatic past events are being discussed’ zone and if im gonna write about trauma I’m gonna Write About Trauma, an’ yeah
i really hope you don’t die anytime soon anon, i don’t know what it is exactly that you just went through and you do not have to tell me, but i sincerely hope you’re doing okay, and if not okay, at least feeling better. I really was worried about ya 💜
and to yap about EoW:
IM GLAD IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW THE HOOD AND THOUGHT OF THE ZONAI STUFF, IT REMINDED ME A LOT OF TOTK
i think itd be really cool if it was a new Link and Zelda. I love the like, art/animation style they chose, and I doubt nintendo is ever gonna tell us which Link this is 💀 but we can always have our theories 💔
NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR YAPPIN, ITS WHAT THE YAP BOX IS FOR! FEEL FREE TO INFODUMP WHENEVER DUDE I LOVE IT HEAR IT, AND YOU SERIOUSLY HAD A LOT OF INTERESTING THINGS TO SAY
i know this is like the fourth time im saying this but again, I hope you’re alright. I missed ya, it’s good to hear from you again 💜
Song Recs! Vgm Ost! (Part 1)
Have you heard of Elebits? (Eledees for all the PALs out there)
It's a cool game about capturing little light creatures because you're playing as a kid with mostly absent parents (because they spend so much time at their jobs working with the light creatures).
It has a soundtrack that I really like, that kinda comes in 2 flavors
Vibey Synth Stuff and Darker Bluesy Stuff
And I very much enjoy these two flavors, so I'll be listing some of my favorite songs (or maybe all of them) from this soundtrack (composed by Naoyuki Sato and Michiru Yamane)
As usual, songs names are linked, followed by things I like about the song.
Vibey Stuff
Story Mode Menu
Very sparse synth chords, cool distorted violin sound
Tutorial
Pretty piano, awesome breakbeat-ish drums (plus a solo), very washy compressed sound (especially the ride)
Editing mode
Cool marimba-ish sound, piano pad, kinda got a samba feel tbh
Extras menu
My favorite on the soundtrack
6/8, compressed-ass drums, cool pad on the 1 during first section
Sparse second section with interesting chords, cool as hell drum fills leading back into first section
Multiplayer mode
Kinda radio-ish at the start, quick EP flutters, mellotron-ish violin, synth in right ear
Options menu
Very soft and calming, piano w/delay in right ear, CAJON
Mission results and Final results
Love the bouncy feel in the first one, love the sleigh bells in the second, love the sub bass in both
Mom & Dad's room
Kinda between both styles. Cool horns and ambient EP. Feels kinda shiny
The silent kitchen
Plucky bass, has a background pad that seems a bit off tune but in a good way
Quiet in the living room
Very plucky EP, same pad as previous I think, the ep with a delay effect near the end reminds me of Minecraft
Shadow in the garage and My town
Intro kinda makes you think it's the other genre haha, cool organ, cool groove, cool marimba in the second one, the speed of the second one makes me think of Spain by Chick Corea
World without weight and The secret room
The synth pad makes me think of the soundtrack of the game Monolith, kinda odd chords sometimes
Totally topsy-turvy and Big to-do in town
First one is simple and calm, love the delay synth/EP near the end, second one is more energetic and groovy and has a marimba solo (kinda)
To the amusement park! and An Elebit state of mind?!
First one hits hard, cool lead synth, reminds me of DSCO by Sweet Trip, second one is more subdued + cajon again
Fancy some candy? and Puzzle panic
Rare instance where the first song is the slower one
Has my favorite chord change in it, first has weird-ass funky bassline, second has less-weird-but-still-funky bassline
A spaceship fantasy
Ambient dnb shit pretty cool
Shopping in style and My favorite hero show
Kinda evil and funky but the second one is more triumphant in the main section
Me and my little war and Me, Elebits, and fate
Zora's domain called
Cool and sparkly and then a waltzy thing
Sky, sea, and land (bosses)
Takes the melody from the trailer video
Vs the zero Elebit
Cool bass. can't figure out what it reminds me of (Black Sunshine by White Zombie? TF2?)
In the next post I'll cover the other half of the soundtrack plus any stragglers that don't fit either bill.
Interested in being part of the story? Just let me know! I'll be including other Hylians, Zora, Sheikah, Rito, Goron and Gerudo! I hope you enjoy the story.
THE SETTING::
10,000 years before BOTW there existed the originals; the first four selected champions, the princess to protect them all with the chosen hero. Just opposite of them stands the young Gerudo King, Ganondorf, who will find that corruption doesn't just stem from bureaucracy but from gaining the power that he craves. At the center of it all? The Triforce.
THE INDEX::
The index is a culmination of information with some edits to it for the sake of the story. So do not take everything said here as canon to the Zelda Lore. I'll be working on that as I create different content. THE INDEX.
THE DISCLAIMER::
The world of Legend of Zelda belongs to the creator(s) respectively. I will never claim anything that's pre-existing. If there are mentions of characters outside my own creation and the creation of the world then those characters belong to their respective creators (such as OCs who want to be part of the story). Characters who ARE brought in are only done so with the expressed permission/consent of the person who designed that character. So keep that in mind. Thank you kindly.
WARNINGS: This story will mention some graphic things such as violence, slaughter/murder, some vulgarity, other things are possible. No, it will not contain lemons (unless you squint hard enough, jk, there might be some, don't know yet). Rating will change accordingly when the time comes.
SPOILERS: Yes, this story does have Tears of the Kingdom spoilers. It mentions the Ganondorf as seen in the TOTK trailer (and game cough). So please if you're trying to avoid spoilers probably best to not read this until after you've played the game.
Free gush pass! Gush about whomever for however long ya like! :)
Ohhh, gosh I know I'm absolutely fucked up over Alastor lately, but I'm also thinking about Sidon a little bit 😳 I've been playing Breath of the Wild again 'cause the next game is coming out and it seems like Sidon's gonna be more of a character??? (I've been avoiding trailers and teasers and everything but I have seen official art of him and it had me like 😳😳😳😱😱😱😱😱😱😱💖💘💞💝💗💘💝💗💖💞)
I just love what a sweetheart he is, he's so gentle and encouraging and I love that he gets super hyped up about things!!! Despite the tragic things that have happened to him, he still looks on the bright side and stays strong, and protects his people, and wants the best for his friends. I want to remind him to take care of himself too and offer to him the same level of kindness and selflessness that he gives to others so he can feel taken care of and loved
afhldsfsjdfhl and I still really love my little AU where I meet the Happy Mask Salesman and get a Zora mask and become a Zora... which idk if I've ever properly talked about on this blog but it's been in my head for forever and I fkdsjhdsfh >//////< I go through the whole story in my head and I just become such a mess afsdghskfjahskh
