A week had passed since your outburst with Tony. At this point, both Bucky and yourself were completely drained: all this bickering back and forth between Tony, the unnecessary burden of Danny, on top of that with the rush to prepare for the near arrival of your child. You both needed to resort your priorities, focusing on the newly found prospects of parenthood. No more Danny, no more Tony, if need be…
“He brought it upon himself, baby,” Bucky would say, reminding you constantly that this was never your fault.
Bucky and you had since spent your days solely together, coordinating with one another as you both finished up on the final arrangements of your daughter’s room.
“She’s going to love this,” Bucky insisted, smiling as he set down the wooden rocking chair he’d assembled himself, beside the intricate, white cot.
“Of course she will! We put our hearts and soul into this…”
Your arms slowly reach up, wrapping around Bucky’s neck, as you both stood by the door glancing at the newly completed room. It was a mission to say the least, the rush of finding a new place to stay, to then hastily organising the room ready for the arrival of your precious daughter. And yet you guys managed it, just the two of you . However you couldn’t deny, this accomplishment did come with the occasional help of her fellow Avenger aunts and uncles.
“Now let’s head to bed, take advantage of these early nights before my angel arrives…”

And yet, Bucky had spoken too soon.
Ever so close to the due date, pushing through the long hours of the night, she was finally here… Safe, sound and a healthy, little baby girl.
Bucky hadn’t moved from your side since the painful contractions had started to kick in. He was anxious to say the least, however for your sake he was able to maintain such a calm and poised exterior. Before heading out, you’d hastily called Steve to break the news, and they’d wasted not a single minute in rushing out of the compound to meet you both at the hospital. Whether Tony had joined them or not, the answer would have to await. And at this point in time, the only thing powering through your thoughts was delivering this baby.
Having arrived to the hospital, the assessments done, it seemed your body was ready, and yet a part of you was fearful. Throughout your pregnancy, you’d heard of many stories, some of which seemed to be quite traumatic. And it seemed these stories had begun to flood back through your memories moments during the preparation of the birth.
Not to forget, the baby inside you was partially super-human in some way or another, thanks to Bucky. Nonetheless, you knew this and before you and it had never phased you since finding out you were in fact pregnant.
“Bucky, wh-what if something goes wrong? What if I-?”
“Y/N nothing is going to happen, I’m right here with you always. This is the final hurdle baby, after this she’ll be here, with us.”
His words, at this very moment were the most comforting they’d ever been. After every adversity Bucky had faced since his time fighting the war, his days as an assassin to facing Tony’s constant scrutiny, he never once felt the need to abandon you nor had he ever been tempted to just drop everything and escape the madness. It was now set in stone that being with Bucky was one of the greatest decisions you’d ever made, and if Tony couldn’t see that nor simply come to terms with that, it was his loss and his loss alone… He’d be the one missing out on a family.
“Just one final push baby, one final push!!!”
His metal arm you clinged to tightly, as his other arm embraced you, supporting your back as you’d instinctively lean in forward.
What felt like a lifetime of agony, the sheer pain coursing through every fibre of your body, there was no point in holding back the screams. You were certain you could be heard a mile away… It was that fucking painful, although… It was all worth it once the crowded room, echoed with that beautiful cry.
“She is beautiful!” One of the midwives happily cried, as they gently wrapped her in towels, handing her over to you, with your arms already stretched out for her.
Holding her against your, softly peering over the towel, so that Bucky and you had the perfect view of your precious daughter.
A “wow” escaped Bucky’s lips, as you gleamed up at him: he was completely mesmerised, a small, tender smile glowed on his face as his hand slowly reached up to stroke the cheek of his newly born daughter.
You couldn’t help however notice, that his eyes had swelled with tears you undoubtedly knew were from sheer joy.
“Bucky she’s ours! Our own little doll!”
“She’s got your nose,” Bucky whispered cradling you both.
As if on cue, you’d taken a quick glimpse of her tiny round eyes slightly opening, only to reveal that familiar icy blue colour.
“But she’s got the same eyes as her Daddy’s …”
“So are you both set on a name for this little princess?” Another midwife had curiously interrupted.
“Oh we’ve got one in mind, perfect enough for her.” Bucky replied, his eyes still fixated on his precious, little daughter.

Now that she’s been cleaned and checked, declared to be as healthy as a baby can be, you’d both arrived to your single room. With not even a moment spared enough to settle in, the room was already bombarded with guests, showering in with gifts and flowers.
“Let’s have a look at her! She’s so tiny Y/N!-”
“Please tell me she doesn’t look exactly like her Dad-”
“Can I just hold her already?!-”
“Everyone just calm down, she’s just a newborn kid and let Y/N have some air, please!”  Steve had nobly intervened, and deep down you were grateful he had, they’d all crowded beside you as Bucky helped you carry her out of the cot, gently placing her down in your arms.
Now that she was properly wrapped, with a tiny, white beanie covering her head, her face was there for everyone to see and admire, sound asleep as she nestled cosily.
“She is beautiful Y/N, an angel if I ever saw one…” Natasha sincerely exclaimed, as she stood beside you near the head of the bed, her had gently stroking your back in support.
“So I’m officially an uncle, huh?” Steve cheered, proudly patting his long-time friend, Bucky on the back.
“You’re not the only uncle she’s got, Capt,” Sam sighed, offended to think he could have ever been excluded.
It was quiet, as everyone longingly gazed over the tiny details of the little baby cradled in her mother’s arms. It was only in the tender silence that you’d looked up scanning the room, only to immediately notice the absence of the one person you’d thought would have the decency to show.
“D-Did my Dad not come? Is Tony here?” …
