“Don't move.” Colson smirked when his Alpha playfully growled against his shoulder. He had woken up a while before and let himself bask in the morning post coital mess that they were. He needed to piss and chug some water before their son woke up and needed-
“Where the fuck is Punk? Didn't he fall asleep on the bed?” His voice was gravel from all the whimpering and moaning he'd done during their night but alarmed all the same. It had Dom waking up faster and glancing over him.
“Fuck? Punk?” Well just because he was awake it didn't mean his brain was exactly working. Ruts were exhausting and he was still running on fumes and id, his baser instincts- he'd be desperate for another fuck before long and they both knew it.
Kells arched a brow and scoffed at his lover. “What the fuck was that? You think he's gonna answer your ass? Seriously? ‘Punk’? What's he gonna say? ‘Yo dad, I'm in the upside down'?” Even annoyed he wasn't vitriolic. He loved his idiot. It struck him suddenly that he must not be very aware yet either because if their baby wasn't in bed he might have fallen. He moved to look over the bed and Dom’s eyes went wide as his omega pulled off his cock roughly and way too quick. “He's not there. What the hell?” He asked, slipping even further until he could check if the little one rolled off and under the bed. They were close enough to the floor and his carpet was expensive enough to be soft so he wasn't incredibly worried about Punk being hurt. Besides, Alpha babies were strong so they didn't really have to worry about the normal risks but still. He hid under the bed as a boy and the prospect put a pit in his stomach.
“Luv?” Dom’s voice was slightly more alive.
“Where the fuck is our baby?”
“Luv?”
“I can't- I don't see him. It's dark under- give me your phone!”
“Cols!”
“What?!” The boss near shouted as he tried to push himself back up, failed, and fell mostly off the bed. He took a deep breath as he laid in his own wreckage for a moment and watched as his partner leaned over to look at him. The killer raised the edge of a blanket and waved it at him.
“I don't fink we put a blanket on ourselves. Pretty sure our boy is safe and sound in anover room. You ‘urt?”
Colson huffed and shook his head. “Only my fucking pride.”
“Good, nuffin important ‘en. Get back up ‘ere.”
Kells fought a smile. He didn't want to be charmed by his mate being an asshole but that type of humor was one of his love languages. Dom was always so fucking sweet it was nice to see his rut made him a bit of a dick. Or perhaps he just trusted their relationship more finally that he wasn't scared to be playful. He started to push up on his elbows but before he could get very far his fiancé had already rolled off his side of the bed and ran around it to pick him up. It should piss him off to be picked up bridal style and completely nude but with Dom in full rut and putting off mating hormones like a whore house, he was surprised at himself how much he enjoyed it.
“Easy there Gone With the Wind, we should probably make sure you're right before you do anything to get us stuck again. We don't want to look like shit parents already do we?” He teased, patting his lover's chest.
“Gone wiv the wha’ now? Wha’ you even saying?” Dom grumbled but he knew exactly what his mate meant. When Colson just gave him a look he rolled his eyes and gently set him feet first on the floor. His cycle did not want to let them out of bed.
“Besides, if I don't get a drink I might actually get heat stroke.”
“I'll show you a bloody ‘eat stroke.” The Alpha huffed as his lover made his way to their bathroom though Kells stopped and looked back at him.
“What did that even mean? You think my digs are hard to understand? You're a psycho.”
“Sociopath. Not sure ‘ow many times I ‘ave to tell yas.” The killer teased.
Col huffed and shook his head. He had other things to focus on than his silly boy. His bladder was full and there was no time to play, he had to make sure his son was safe. He wouldn't normally worry so much but they'd had multiple people in the Four Seasons bothering them too recently. He would feel like a shit mom if he didn't at least check.
“You seen the Jim phone?” Dom called out from the bedroom and Col realized they hadn't been woken up by any annoying threatening calls all night. That was odd. Jimmy Boy always bothered them.
“No. But I haven't exactly been looking. Be right there.”
Dominic rolled his bottom lip between his fangs and found a pair of shorts to pull on. He wasn't worried about Punk because he trusted his family to watch out for him but he didn't want anyone else messing with the Alpha arse who was trying, albeit terribly, to kill him. He didn't want to risk anyone else becoming a target. “I'll check.” He called back and left the room before Col could respond. That was another problem with his rut, it turned all of his instincts up to eleven- sex and protection among other things. It also made his ADHD an absolute mess and if he found a problem it needed to be solved right away.
He found at least one answer as soon as he opened their bedroom door and it was a relief to see his sons together. He may not have been worried for Punk but it was still nice to have the visual reassurance he had been cared for all night and both boys were asleep together on the couch. Blain had the infant on his chest and they'd obviously crashed watching tv, the light was still flashing on them. What caught his attention next was what worried him though, the other Alpha's cellphone was on the coffee table next to them. Their older boy had snuck in at some point and taken both the phone and the baby. It was a sweet gesture but he still didn't like it. He didn't want the omega any more traumatized by the posh dick.
Before he could step closer and retrieve it his lover walked in behind him and sighed with relief. “Well at least one of us is a good parent.” Col teased about their adoptive son but he knew neither of them wanted that for Blain. Dom had grown up raising his sisters and any other children his parents left in his care. They wanted their boy to have his own time but he seemed to enjoy spending it with Punk.
“He took the phone.” The Alpha gestured to the table and Colson nodded. It didn't worry him but it obviously bothered Dom. “He shouldn't fink he's gotta do tha’! I don't want ‘im to get ‘urt again! I'm supposed to bloody protect ‘im and ‘ere he is-” Before he could finish his rant his young omega was waking up and staring over at him.
“‘Ere I am wha'? Trying to fix wha’ I broke? He's after me ain't he? We used to be friends. You can't treat me like a babe anymore Da, I ain't one. I'm grown enough I could ‘ave one of my own. I jus’ wanted to ask ‘im…” The boy trailed off as he sat up and sighed. There was obviously a weight on his chest more than just his little brother and a pit in his stomach.
“Ask him what kiddo?” Col prompted as he crouched in front of the boy.
Spring green eyes filled with tears as Blain shook his head. The pain in his face grew worse and Colson slid the baby from his arms and handed him to Dom before he sat next to Blain and wrapped him in a hug. He was never very good at emotions but he knew a little more than his partner. “I jus’ wanted to know how the fuck we got ‘ere! He said he loved me and now he's trying to kill my family! I wanted to know how the bloody hell he could be this cold to me after everyfing!”
“What is ‘everything’ if you don't mind me asking? You said before that you let him touch you?” The omega asked gently. It wasn't his business but in a way it was. There were old laws and technically Blain was theirs now. If James did too much against the boy when he was young well… There were always ways of getting revenge.
“Not tha’. Not… not completely. We didn't- I…” The boy blushed. “Jus’ mostly but not- I don't know!”
“Maybe now ain't the time to ask luv, I'm already worked up, we don't need nuffin setting me off on a war paf.” Colson was sure his mate was supposed to sound threatening but his inability to pronounce a damn ‘th’ sound would always make him adorable in the boss's eyes. He couldn't help it.
“Fine, you don't have to answer. I just thought we could use that to get him off our backs.”
“It's been too long and there ain't no proof.” Blain explained sniffling.
“Too long? Wha' ya mean? You barely a teenager!” It certainly didn't take Dom much to get set off but that especially was always his trigger.
“Chill Da, I were twelve I fink. I consented and we didn't-” The young omega’s teeth clinked he shut his jaw so hard the moment he noticed his father's eyes flash red. He'd been trying to fix the problem, not make him angrier. “Is he… growling?” He whispered to his mother and Colson let out a nervous half laugh and shrugged.
“It's not you. He's just a bit…” Well, Col didn't know how to explain a rut without getting too deep about anything else. He wasn't sure he was ready for the full birds and the bees talk, even if his boy knew a lot of truth.
Dominic took a deep breath and tried to shake his rage off. It wasn't directed at anyone in the room and he couldn't do shite about it. He never wanted to scare his family and Blain was looking at him wide eyed. “I'm sorry. It ain't you. Jus' um…”
“For two supposed adults you suck at grown up talk. I'm old enough to know wha’ a rut is. Ya do remember I've ‘ad multiple Alpha's trying for me yeah? Ain't daft. Besides, the bloody internet exists.” It was the adults turn to flush and it made Blain feel warmth that he was able to make them squirm. He knew it meant they cared and wanted to do right by him. “James ‘ad one when… I ‘elped him.”
Of course that revelation set the Alpha on edge again but he was able to control himself from anything drastic. He had a baby in his arms which seemed to help and with the way his older son looked up at him pleadingly it kept him from running off and doing away with the bastard.
“I'm sorry. I know you're ashamed of me now but I did it cause of love. I thought.” Blain whimpered.
“Wha' the fuck? I ain't ashamed of yas. I'm pissed at ‘im for ‘urting ya. You me son, if you wanna fuck anyfing tha’ moves I'll get yas some rubbers and STI tests. But I want it to be because you feel safe and loved. Jus' like I do wiv ya mum.” Dom explained softly.
“You can't be saying tha’. You can't mean you was each other's firsts?” The boy was shocked and his voice showed it.
Col snorted at the words, he had such a surprised laugh for a reaction and his fiancé just arched a brow at him. “I was his first but… Well uh. He was my first Alpha I willingly got with. Just not my first first.” Colson explained.
“Aye. I was too scared of it until ‘im. But we ‘elped each over. Tha's wha’ love is, you ‘elp each over change and grow. You discover shite tog'ever. I don't want you missing out on summat beautiful cause you ‘ung up on an arse. But neiver one is wrong. Sleeping around or not it's all about wha’ you want, and I would never be ashamed of yas unless you ‘urt someone on purpose by taking away ‘eir consent. You understand?” Dom rarely talked so much and never when he was in rut but he wanted to reassure the boy.
“It's not on you. Okay? Whatever James is doing or whether he listens to you or not… it's not on you. It's on him.” Col tried to help soothe. “We love you the same no matter what.”
“I told him to stop. I didn't bargain. I didn't do shite I jus’... But he says he can't. He says he can never stop. He didn't sound anyfing like himself. He kept talking about family honor and he sounded jus’ like my dad. It was awful.” The boy explained. He looked heartbroken all over again.
“Maybe we should have a meeting with him? Like set a real one up and just fucking talk to him. We can show him our family isn't one to be fucked with. We can set something up here. Downstairs. Or at one of my clubs. Hell, we can throw a fucking party with everyone who works for us and prove how much we have on our side. He thinks he's old mob money but you already took out almost all of them. I can guarantee we're stronger. Let's shove it in his face that we have the power here. He came into my fucking territory with a bullshit threat. Omegas are different here, especially in this family and he fucked with the wrong ones. I mean someday Blain will lead this family if he wants, or at least help. He came to the wrong place. Whether we invite him or not he'll follow wherever we go and if he keeps setting traps for us let's set one for him. What do you think?” Kells finished his rant and looked between his family. Blain just blinked a few times and smirked in a way that would scare the boss if they weren't on the same side, but Dom just made a funny sound as his eyes flashed crimson again.
“I fink I need to take me badarse mate back to bed and find out who's boss.” He purred.
“Dom! Focus up you whore, what do you think of the plan?” Even with the tease he was happy to see his lover so moved by his words. He knew the next round wouldn't be far off and the Alpha was staring at him like a whole ass meal.
“I can't. I mean the plan is perfect but you? So are you.”
“The two of yas, I swear.” Blain laughed and shook his head but he always loved how they loved each other. It just made him sad because he wasn't sure he'd ever feel that with anyone. The only other person he ever trusted had broken his heart but it sounded like his parents had a lovely plan to mend it. What was a little blood and viscera between old lovers? Perhaps he'd ask for James’s heart on a platter to heal his own.

This wasn't much and it was an interlude to Dom's rut but I haven't been feeling very well lately, I just wanted to make sure to get something out for y'all. This still felt important because they need to figure out what to do with James. Hopefully this plan will help, though it might be a few days before they can leave the flat 🤭 I hope you're enjoying it still ❤️🔥🖤

Rach hi I am humbly on my knees for another request
I am so sleep deprived and am projecting on my kind 🥰
Can I please request super duper exhausted denki and dad-might comfort 😭🙏🙏
------------{ ☆°•○•°☆ }------------
My Hero Academia: Re- Chargebolt
IRODKSHDISKXKDJ Duck Duck I think I needed this ask as much as you did 😭❤️ I miss just writing fluff, there's 100% going to be more~ This one's for you bestie!!!
Summary: Denki has been working overtime on his studies lately and falls asleep in Aizawas class, so All Might is called in to take care of him.
Fluffy fluff
Tw: None
------------{ ☆°•○•°☆ }------------
"We're going to watch this health and safety video, and I need you to take notes." Aizawa explained to the class, who all groaned in annoyance.
"Trust me I don't want to do this either. Let's just get it over with. Aoyama, get the lights please."
Off went the lights, plunging the classroom into darkness. It was winter, so no sunlight was coming through the windows either. Everyone sat staring bored out of their minds as the dull and tedious movie.
Everyone except Denki. Having stayed up all night studying, he was in a bad way. All his energy had been drained throughout the day, and now he was in a dark, heated classroom, with nothing to keep him alert but his mind.
As the boring monotone educational video dragged on, his eyes felt heavy, slowly slipping shut before fluttering open again as his brain reminded his body to keep going.
Stay awake.
He suddenly realised his eyes were shut again, quickly sitting up with a gasp. It's okay. Only a few seconds had passed, it felt like longer though. If that was just a few seconds, maybe putting his head down for a moment would be safe. Yeah. Just for a couple of seconds.
"In case of a fire, seek out... Some... Quali..." The voice on the video started to blur. What were they saying? Quali? Quail? That's a bird. So is Hawks. Is he like a quail? No, qualis can't fly. Focus!
Denki gave in, crossing his arms over his desk, using them as a pillow as he rested his head upon them. He'd take a few notes, just a few. The sound of the video started to fade as his eyes lulled closed again. A wave of exhaustion passed over him as his surroundings blurred out, fading into a peaceful silence.
---
When dealing with an uncooperative... Kaminari... Remember to always... Wake up...
The voices surrounding him slowly became entwined in a confusing mess as Denki was roused from his sleep again. He felt weird. Is he still dreaming? When did he fall asleep?
"Kaminari." One of the voices became clearer, a definite point to focus on in his sleepy state. Wait. They said his name.
"Mh..." He responded with a hum, his head still buried in his arms. The video still playing overhead, and the rest of the class still taking notes.
"Come on, bud. We need to get you out of here." The soothing tone belonged to All Might. Aizawa had texted him that he needed some help with Denki. The boy wasn't in trouble, in fact, Aizawa was more worried than anything.
"M'takin'... Notes..." The half-asleep boy mumbled, his hand lazily moving as if he were holding his pen, which was stuck to his arm where he had been laying on it.
Toshi smiled sympathetically, carefully pulling Denki's chair out a little. "Yeah, very nice notes buddy. Come on, let's go." He hooked an arm around Denki's chest, lifting him from his seat, picking up his bag for him before guiding him gently outside.
"Bye, Denki." Kirishima whispered with a grin before turning his attention back to the task.
The brighter lights in the hallway made Denki flinch, squeezing his eyes shut as he whined. Toshi patted his hair reassuringly.
"Alright, buddy. Back to the dorms, okay?"
"But... I don't..." Poor Denki. He looked so lost. Still half asleep, his hair all messy and shirt buttoned up unevenly. All Might hadn't seen him like this before, it was kind of sad to see the usually so energetic boy reduced to a dishevelled rag with big purple bags under his eyes.
"Oh, my bag..." He tiredly took his bag from All Might, hugging it to his chest. "Can't lose this. 'Ts got my cool pens in it."
"Your cool pens?" All Might chuckled, deciding this would be easiest if he just carried the boy back. "How many have you got?" He asked kindly as he scooped the boy into his arms, carrying him bridal style.
Denki immediately settled into his arms, relieved to not be on his feet anymore. "Lots... Maybe... Twenty..."
"Twenty? Wooow, that's a lot. What's your favourite one?"
"Blue... No... Purple..." The blonde's head slumped against All Might's chest, still hugging his bag.
"Purple is a nice colour." All Might smiled as he felt Denki's body relax. He was glad the boy had been so eager to get better grades on his written work, but perhaps a study schedule would help to make sure he doesn't overwork himself like this again.
"Have you had anything to eat today?... Kaminari?" He looked down, realising Denki had already fallen asleep again. "Yeah, you rest up kid."
---
This was the quietest Denki had ever been, just snoring quietly as All Might carried him all the way back to the dorms. He then settled the boy on the sofa in the lounge area, propping his head on a pillow and removing his shoes.
"Kaminaaari... Wakey-wakey bud." Toshi cooed, softly patting the young hero's cheek to stir him, hopefully for the last time.
Denki snorted as he woke again, a small spark of electricity circling his nose. He groaned, sitting up like a zombie rising from the dead with his mouth hung open and his eyes lazily half shut. "M'up. M'awake... Aizawa... sir...? Huh?" He narrowed his eyes, slowly realizing he wasn't in class anymore.
"Uuuh... How...?"
"It's okay, Kaminari. You've been excused from class today. Here, I made you some nice Oyakodon." All Might smiled, sitting beside Denki and showing him the nice warm bowl of fluffy steamed rice with chicken, onions, egg and Umami sauce. A nice easy quick meal to make. Nice and filling too.
Denki's eyes lit up as the smell filled his nose, his tiredness subsiding for a moment, he was starving. "Ooooh! Thank you." He smiled, carefully taking the bowl and spoon before starting to eat. "Mmh... So warm." He closed his eyes, blissfully enjoying the flavour.
"I thought you'd appreciate it. A quick meal before bed." Toshi smiled, rubbing Kaminari's back soothingly.
"Is Aizawa mad at me?... I don't even remember what we were doing in class..." He pouted, looking at his food, he didn't want Aizawa to think he didn't enjoy his lessons. He loved Aizawa and his classes.
"Of course not. He texted me to come to get you because he was worried. He knows you've been working very hard recently, and he's very proud. We all are. Sero and Kirishima both said they'd take extra notes for you." All Might smiled as he ruffled Denki's hair, making him giggle.
"Okay, good... I like Aizawa and everyone." The sleepy boy smiled, continuing to enjoy his meal. Toshi fetched him a glass of water to finish the food with. Once done, Denki yawned loudly, stretching his arms out in front of him as he squeaked at the end. "Thanks for the food." He smiled up at All Might as the man took the empty bowl from his lap and set it on the coffee table.
"No problem buddy. Now, let's- Uh?" The older hero paused, looking confused as Denki laid down again, resting his head on Toshis thigh with a content sigh. With a full belly and a comfy place to rest, Deki was already set for bed. Even more tired than before.
"Kaminari, you can't... Ah, fine." All Might chuckled, carefully lifting the boy's head and taking off his tie so he'd be comfier. He then pulled the throw blanket from the back of the couch, draping it over his body, and tucking it around his cheeks snuggly, grabbing a pillow for his head too, placing it in his lap.
"Mh... All Might."
"Yes, buddy?"
"I like you too... You're so cool 'n nice... Y'know?" Denki mumbled, curling up on his side, enjoying having company for his nap.
"Hah, thank you, Kaminari. You're cool too." He rested his giant hand upon Denki's head, soothingly petting his hair as he drifted off to sleep. "You're going to be a wonderful hero, Chargebolt."
The thunder boy smiled, soon falling asleep again. His gentle breathing and light snores brought a sense of calm to the busy life of this old hero. Toshi happily stayed there with him, even dosing off himself, being discovered by the rest of the class once they returned from the day's classes.
A few photos were taken before they were left to rest without being disturbed. It was the best sleep they had both had in a while.

59. “I’m still sore from last night.”
single dad!jungkook x f!reader
w.c: 2.3k
warnings: fluff, non-penetrative unprotected sex. Jungkook thinks too much lol.
note: hello, first and foremost, THANK YOU FOR 1K. I’m over the moon honestly, I found out while I was on my mini vacation and it just made it 10x better so thank you so much. Anyway, I hope you like this one, it was so much fun to write, let me know your thoughts. Send me a prompt or two if you’d like. hehe <3
sequel
MASTERLIST || PROMPTS
The single ray of light peeked through the slit of Jungkook’s dark curtains, making his eyelids flutter open in discomfort. He sat up on his elbows, looking over at your splayed-out body occupying the usual empty spot next to him. Arm lying lazily around his midriff and leg wrapped around his waist. In a poor attempt to hold him hostage. He could easily slip out without waking you up, but this was a rare sight for him. You in his bed, hair messily fanning out against his dark pillows, and his sheets hanging off your naked body. Your skin glowing under the peeking sun rays of the morning sun, painting tiny sunspots all over your body.
It was a rare sight for him because you rarely stayed over, and he wanted to revel in the quiet and still moment as much as he could. As much as you allowed him to do so. Before you woke up panicking peeling your limbs away from his body in a frantic sleepy search for your clothes that occupied every inch of his one-bedroom loft.
He was outgrowing it in every sense of the word. Last week he had to replace the crib in the far with a twin-sized bed, leaving little room to comfortably move around it. It had been proven to him last night when you accidentally bumped your knee into the corner of his daughter’s bed while you helped him clean up his place, while she was away at her grandparents for the weekend.
It was why you had shamelessly decided to stay over. It was why he was able to wake up next to you. Why he was contemplating on waking you up so the two of you could hunt for apartments together. Why he had been turning the same sentences over in his head, looking for the right way to ask you to move in with him. To marry him. Would asking the two questions side by side be too overwhelming, or will knocking two birds with one stone be the right thing to do?
He didn’t know, this was all new to him. Haneul’s mother didn’t want her, didn’t love her and left her to him before disappearing without a trace. You were the first person he called when he arrived at the hospital to pick her up. Having his daughter in his arms, a daughter he had no idea he had until that morning, was terrifying and in the midst of his breakdown, he dialed your number. You were his best friend back then, now you were his girlfriend and the only mother Haneul had ever and will ever know. He wanted everything to be official but he didn’t know how or if he should.
Frustrated, he lays down again, running his hand down his torso until it reaches your hand. He walks his fingers up your arm in a ghostlike matter, while humming quietly, contemplating the ever-present questions that he always found himself swallowing. It was never the right time, but the right time never seemed to come, so maybe he should just blurt it out and then hide away.
“Good morning,” you croak, sleep still present in your voice. A smile creeps onto Jungkook’s face, his thoughts fleeting to hide in the back of his mind again. He turns to face you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you close.
“Good morning my beautiful girlfriend.” He hums leaving a gentle kiss on the tip of your nose before burying his head in your neck. You smelled like green tea and white sage; the scent of your body lotion and him. It made him feel calm. Though if he were to ever express that thought out loud you would just say that it was the work of your stress-free body lotion. But no, you smelled, felt like home to him and it made him feel calm.
You twinkle your fingers down his bare back, the gnawing emptiness in the pit of your stomach returns. Your alone time with him was coming to an end and you hated it. “I have to get up, I have to go.” You whisper, planting a gentle kiss on the crown of his head.
Jungkook makes a disappointed sound, tightening his hold around you. “No five more minutes.” He whines kissing down your neck and lifts his head. A smug smile painting his beautiful features. “I can convince you to stay.” He quirks a brow, rolling his hips into yours.
“Babe.” You place a hand on his chest, your head hitting his pillow again, as the pleasure overtakes your body. “I-I can’t, I’m still sore from last night.” You breathe out as he grinds his half-hard cock against you.
He hums, chest swelling up in disgusting testosterone-filled pride. He knows he rocked your world a few times last night. Still remembers how he had you screaming louder than usual underneath him, enough to have his neighbors banging furiously against his wall. “We don’t have to go all the way, we can just stay like this.” He whispers, kissing your temple, grinding his hips against yours experimentally. It was slow and careful. He didn’t want to work himself up to full mast without your verbal agreement. Jungkook always respected your boundaries and he knew your body better than anyone you had allowed to touch you in the past. So, if you were to tell him no as much as he wanted you not to he would stop without a complaint ever leaving his lips.
You smile and push him down, straddling him. “Okay but relax, I could literally hear you thinking while I was still sleeping.” You roll your hips, your clit brushing against the tip of his fired-up cock.
He lets out a pleasure-filled sigh, resting his hands on your ass, “I got a lot to think about.” He winks before moving up his bed resting his back against the headboard of his bed, your chest now against his. “Keep going, I want to paint your pretty lips with my cum.” He mumbles kissing your cheek.
“For a dad, you’re always horny. I thought having a kid would kill your sexual prowess.” You sigh running your wet pussy over his cock harder, your lips fluttering around him, ready to take him in fully.
He laughs, bucking his hips against yours, a whimper falling out of your lips. “It did at first, remember?” He hisses when your clit brushes up against his angry head again. He wants to be inside you so badly, but he knows he’s already pushing it just with this, though, he can’t complain. When it comes to you, everything was euphoric.
You nod, looking down at him with hooded lust-filled eyes, resting your palms against his shoulders to use him as leverage to go faster. “Y-Yeah, you couldn’t get it up for the longest time, now I swear, f-fuck, it doesn’t stay down.” You rest your forehead against his.
Jungkook moves his hand between your bodies, his thumb on your clit, rubbing slow careful circles, making you jolt. “I can’t help it, you’re so sexy, everything you do is sexy.”
“Mmm, don’t stop please.” You arch your back, your hard nipples brushing against his. The bars decorating them still catch you off guard. They had been an on the whim decision back in college during a particularly stressful finals week. You had held his hand throughout the entire piercing process and wiped away his tears as he made you swear not to tell anyone he cried in pain and came in his pants all at the same time. You did and have kept his secret ever since. Now using the ladder against him during sex.
He rubbed your clit fast, his cock trapped between the wet lips of your pussy, quiet pants falling out of chapped lips. The pleasure was building fast against the pit of your stomach, “I’m close baby, are you?”
Jungkook hummed, grabbing hold of your hips and rolling them against him. The change of rhythm was much more intimate and arousing. There was no space between the two of you, your clit was brushing against the short course hairs against his mound, and it was driving you insane.
“Yes, baby, do you want me to pull away?”
“No, no want to feel you close Kook.” You threw your head back, pulling on his hair, letting your desperate need take over your body.
Jungkook moaned your name silently, moving your hips faster chasing both of your highs, “Gonna let me cum on you my sweet girl, gonna let me paint you with my cum. God, I wish I could fuck it into you after, but we can stop here, just let go please.” He bit down on your neck, making you arch your back.
“Oh my-, I’m cumming Jungkook f-fuck.” You whimpered, letting your orgasm take over, moving your pussy harder against his cock, riding out your high. You looked so beautiful and fucked out, the image burning brightly inside the corner of his brain that kept all the dirty versions of you. Your swollen clit rubs over him one last time before he’s cumming. Hot sputters of his sticky white essence coating your cunt and his abdomen, your eyes wide as you watch him spill himself all over you, the immorality of it all, enough to get you going again if you could.
“That was sexy.” Jungkook pants, making you roll your eyes. He leaves a delicate kiss against your collar bone before looking at you with soft doe pleading eyes. You never understood how he could have the dirtiest things spewing out of his mouth one second and the next he’s looking at you the same way Haneul does whenever she wants a chocolate bar before dinner. “Did I convince you to stay longer?”
“Yes, but I might consider it more if you tell me what’s been bothering you since yesterday.” You tilt your head and stand up. Jungkook blushes when he truly assesses the mess the two of you had made, making his cock twitch at the sight. “Join me in the shower?”
“Wait.” He wraps his fingers around your wrist and pulls you down on his lap again. “Not yet, wait a while please.”
“Jungkook as much as I wanted to be covered in your cum, it’s a little gross to just stay here cuddling.” You pout, running your hands through his hair pushing his dark bangs back.
“I know but,” he chews on his bottom lip, the questions from earlier return and he wonders if this is the right time. You sitting on his lap covered in his cum, or if he should wait until after the two of you have showered. This was truly driving him crazy and there was no way to hide from you because you knew him better than anyone else in this entire world.
“Babe, you're thinking again and loud. What’s wrong?” You run your index finger down the side of his, tracing the tiny minuscule freckles on his cheek connecting them.
“This is so hard, I don’t know how to just ask you to marry me and move in with me. It’s been driving me up the wall for like two weeks now. And like I don’t even have the ring yet, because it’s still being made, but they told me it would take only two weeks and it’s been a month because they’re backed up but that’s okay because they're short on staff. But I wish I had everything with me because I want everything to be perfect, you deserve perfect always and fuck, I-I just want you here forever by my side. By Haneul’s side because you make us complete and god, I don’t know how to ask you.”
There was a brief silence before you’re bending over laughing against his chest. Jungkook is left there sitting dazed and confused holding you as you laughed against him. Did he say something funny?
“Jungkook, I think you just asked me?” You lift your head, placing a hand against your chest trying to calm your nervous laughter and the pounding over your heart.
“Fuck,” he hits the palm of his hand with his forehead, his neck flushing red from embarrassment. “I didn’t want to ask you like that please, just forget about it.” He pleads sadly, tears brimming in the corner of his eyes. He wants the ground to swallow him whole.
“I don’t want you to.” You say stubbornly wrapping your arms around his neck, “and I want to say yes I will move in and marry you, will you let me?” Your fingers play with the hair resting on the back of his neck making him shiver.
He’s looking at you wide-eyed and in shock, “are you sure? We can forget about it and I can ask you when we’re not covered in cum and I have everything. I’ll even write a speech.” He says fast, his heart beating hard against his chest, threatening to fall out. The only other time he’s felt this way was when he held Haneul in his arms for the first time ever.
You shake your head, pecking his lips softly, scrunching your nose, remembering that two of you still hadn’t brushed your teeth yet. “I don’t want a do-over, this was perfect, I mean I still want my ring so I can show it off, but this was perfect. It was us.”
He lets out a sigh of relief, his shoulders falling forward, letting the tension leave his body. He was stressed out for no reason. “I love you so much,”
“I love you, now can we shower?”
“Yes, and then we can get breakfast and pick up Haneul together?”
“Sounds like a dream come true.”

“That cat got into Rick’s chickens again. Killed a couple chicks. He said he’s going to kill it if he sees it on his property.”
Your dad had said it nonchalantly, barely glancing over his newspaper. Without a second thought, you were out the door. There was no way to be sure, not really, but the sinking feeling in your stomach made you run a little faster down your parents’ driveway.
You could have sworn you saw that cat slinking under Rick’s fence on your walk earlier.
Rick’s property neighbored that of your parents, but you wouldn’t necessarily consider him their neighbor. If you stood on their front porch, you could just barely make out Rick’s house through the stand of trees that served as the property line. Your parents had chosen to let their piece of the world be natural, carving out just enough space for a house and a decent sized yard all those years ago. It had made for some great childhood adventures in the woods: pretending fairies were real, living out your childhood fantasies of being some sort of wizard, making friends with the trees--normal kid stuff.
Rick, on the other hand, had turned his land into farmland, even though he neither farmed nor cared for the land. The vast rolling fields of Rick’s “farm” were mostly bare. He had a pond in one corner on the other side of the property, and he had a small cabin for hunting when game season started. Mostly, though, Rick raised chickens. Annoying things, the chickens were, not unlike Rick himself. It wasn’t uncommon to hear the hens’ incessant clucking from your parents’ house, and the roosters never seemed to shut up.
When you moved to the city to attend college, you were elated to get away from the chickens.
According to your dad, the cat had showed up in the woods a few weeks ago, and it had made an enemy out of Rick almost immediately. The poor thing was skinny--too skinny, like it had been living on the streets for a while--and though its dark fur was ruddy and matted, you could tell it would be a beautiful onyx if taken care of.
As you got closer to Rick’s farm, you heard barking and a sharp yowl, and you hurried in the direction of the sounds, afraid of what you’d find. Rounding the corner of the chicken coop, you gasped in horror.
Rick stood with his back to you, shotgun in his hands. His dog, an old bird hound with caramel spotted fur, had the cat clutched in his mouth, the dog’s teeth sunk directly into the cat’s shoulder. The cat, to its credit, had puffed itself up greatly, its tail nearly double its normal size. It was growling and hissing, and, despite the pain it was almost certainly in, was swiping at the dog with its front claws.
“Call your dog off, Rick.” Your voice was steadier than you thought it would be. You were out of breath from the run over there, and being anywhere near Rick with a gun and his snarling dog made you a little uneasy.
“Fuck off.” The man barely turned his head to you. “Damn cat’s been a pain in my ass since someone dumped it here. It killed four of my chicks.”
“Look at it. Of course it’s going after your chickens. You don’t keep them in their coop. It’s starving.”
“Damn thing should stay at your soft-ass parents’ house if it wants handouts.” Rick cocked his gun, pointing it at the cat. The cat’s copper eyes flashed to Rick at the sound. It looked terrified.
The fact that it knew what a gun was and knew to be afraid of it broke your heart a little bit.
“Call off the dog,” you said again, taking a step toward him, hands splayed out in front of you placatingly. “Calm down. I’ll get the cat out of your hair, and you won’t have to worry about it again.”
“Ain’t going to replace my chickens.” Rick’s voice was gruff, but he lowered the gun.
“I’ll pay for your chickens. Just call off your dog.”
He stared at the cat, the gun clutched in his hands but no longer pointing it at anything. For a second, you thought he was going to sicc the dog on the poor thing just to spite you and make a point. You had a feeling he was the type of person to do that. But after a tense stare down, he whistled through his teeth.
“Drop it,” he commanded the dog. The dog looked to its owner, and he repeated the command. It took a second, but the dog released its bite, and the cat slumped to the ground. Rick regarded the cat with a sneer before turning to you. “Take care of that thing. If I see it on my property one more time, it won’t be so lucky.”
You nodded tensely, and he whistled again. The dog trotted over to Rick’s side and the two walked off. You stared after him for a moment. A pained yowl drew your attention back to the cat.
The cat looked angry, and you didn’t blame it. Its tail was still puffed up, and you could tell that if it hadn’t just been attacked by a dog, its hackles would be straight up. Its copper eyes glared at you, its ears flat against its head. You approached cautiously, and it growled deeply in its throat.
“Hey, it’s okay,” you soothed, crouching down to make yourself less threatening. “I’m going to get you help. Is that okay?”
The cat hissed at you and attempted to back away. It made two limping steps before collapsing into the mud around the coop.
“That’s alright. It’s okay.” You sighed, unsure of your next steps. You didn’t want to traumatize the cat by coming any closer, and you really didn’t want to risk injuring it further by picking it up and having it fight you.
You looked at the cat, blinking slowly when you accidentally made eye contact with it. You had read somewhere that blinking was a way to show a cat that you weren’t a threat, and though you felt kind of silly, at this point, you were willing to try anything.
“What am I going to do with you, kitty?” you questioned, sitting down in the mud. The cat looked at you curiously, as if asking what the fuck you were doing. “I don’t want Rick to hurt you,” you confessed. “I’d like to take you somewhere safe.”
Truthfully, that was part of the reason why you were even visiting your parents. Your mom had told you about the cat, and how it didn’t seem to be wearing any collar, and while you were visiting them you wanted to try to trap it, either to bring it to live with you, or to take it to a nice shelter where it could get a good meal and hopefully find a nice family.
“Can I take you to the vet, at least?” You really were desperate, talking to the cat as if it understood what you were saying. The cat, to its credit, looked at you, copper eyes staring into your face before it blinked, just once, slowly and deliberately.
When you reached out to it, it didn’t growl.
You stood and approached the cat, doing your best not to make any sudden moves. You scooped it up gently, careful not to jostle his left shoulder too much, and cradled it close to your chest.
The walk back to your parents’ house was slow, but the trip to the vet was even slower.
It was a weekend, so the vet in your parents’ sleepy little suburb was closed. You had no choice but to pack your bags back up and make the trek home to the city to take the cat to the 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital.
You tapped your hand on the steering wheel. Traffic wasn’t usually this terrible on a weekend, but there was some sort of sporting event happening, so of course, all the roads into the city were clogged.
Stopped at a red light, you spared a glance toward your passenger seat. The cat laid on his side--it was a him, your mother had confirmed--his breathing labored. You could tell he was still on edge. His tail was still puffed up like a cat-of-nine-tails, and he kept eyeing you warily. But he had let you wrap him in a blanket and carry him to your car, and he had stayed on the seat, almost like he knew it was the safest place for him.
“Almost there, kitty,” you mumbled, changing lanes, finally free of the congestion. “Hang on just a little longer.”
Thankfully, the vet wasn’t busy, and you were able to get in with the assistant almost right away. You explained everything that had happened to her as she examined the cat, tutting slightly as she checked his shoulder.
“There are some punctures, but nothing that’s too worrying. I can bandage it and give you some antibiotics.” The assistant pulled her hand back as the cat swatted at her for touching his shoulder a little too forcefully. “Do you know if he has an owner? It would be helpful to know his shot records.”
You shook your head. “He just showed up in the woods one day.”
“We’ll get him a full round of vaccines, then, too.” Copper eyes met yours, and for a second, you thought you saw a look of concern cross them. But then he blinked, and it was gone.
The vet ordered an MRI, and thankfully, because it was a large veterinary hospital connected with the local university, they were able to do it the same day. So you ended up staying at the vet for two hours as they anesthetized the cat and did the scan. While the cat was waking up, the vet called you into the exam room.
“We checked for a microchip, and there was none,” the vet--Dr. Jung--informed you, his brow furrowed. “Based on the cat’s malnutrition and the condition of the coat, it’s likely he was a stray for at least a few months.” You nodded. The poor cat. “We should have the MRI results soon. I’ll give you a call in a few hours once I get a chance to read them. Normally, since he’s a stray, we would contact our foster network to see if anyone would be able to take him in. But since you brought him in-”
“I’ll keep him,” you said quickly. You were planning on it anyway. Just because he was hurt didn’t mean you were willing to give him up.
“Good.” Dr. Jung smiled at you. “My assistant is wrapping his shoulder now, and we’d like to just monitor him for a few more minutes to make sure he’s coming out of the anesthesia well, but you should be clear to take him home after that.” He placed a box on the table between you. “This is Clavamox. One millilitre twice a day for seven days. I don’t think he’ll develop an infection, but since he was so dirty, I think it’s probably better to be safe.” You nodded and pocketed the box. “We also gave him a rabies shot while he was here. It’s standard because he was bitten. If you notice any symptoms, please call us immediately. Once he’s feeling better, we can get him the rest of the vaccines he needs.”
You nodded. This was a lot all at once. And you didn’t even know what you wanted to call the cat yet.
Dr. Jung seemed to be able to tell you were feeling overwhelmed, because he offered you a comforting smile and patted your shoulder. “I’m going to go check on him. You can come if you want.”
As soon as you entered the room, groggy copper eyes were on you. The poor thing looked stoned out of his mind, but there was recognition there, and that gave you some comfort. At least he wasn’t glaring at you anymore. Dr. Jung’s assistant had wrapped his shoulder, so he had a bandage from his upper left front leg wrapped all the way around his chest and up around his shoulders.
“What are we going to do with you, kitty?” you questioned softly, reaching out and gently placing your hand on his head.
After checking the cat’s vitals one last time, Dr. Jung let you leave.
He was limp in your arms as you carried him into your apartment, still a little drugged up from the anesthesia. The whole way back to your apartment, he had sat in the passenger seat and looked out the window like a drunk, moody college student.
“It’s up to you if you want to stay, kitty,” you told him, gently laying him down on your couch as soon as you kicked your shoes off. Of course you wanted to keep him. You had grown attached to him in the few hours you had been with him. But if he was miserable, you were willing to help him find somewhere that was more suited for his needs.
He tried to stand, succeeding only long enough to give a dramatic wobble before collapsing back into the overstuffed cushion. While he was completely recovered from the anesthesia, Dr. Jung had warned you that the cat might be feeling the side effects for a day or so. You reached out to pet him, but his copper eyes slanted into a glare, and you pulled back.
Assuming the cat was hungry, you left him alone and headed into the kitchen. You had some chicken in the fridge, and you thought maybe he would enjoy some fresh meat he didn’t have to steal. You weren’t sure when his last real meal was, so you wanted to go easy on his digestive system until you knew he was feeling better. You’d have to stop and get cat food at some point, but for now, chicken would do.
You did your best to trim off all the fat from the chicken breast. You knew he wouldn’t mind eating it--cats ate weirder things from fresh kills, after all--but you figured with how thin he was, lean meat would probably be better. Carefully, you cut it up into small, easy-to-chew chunks and put some on a plate, wrapping the rest and putting it into the fridge for later. You used a dropper to evenly spread the required dose of the antibiotics onto the chicken in hopes that it would make it easier to give him the medicine.
Returning to the living room, you noticed that the cat hadn’t moved aside from doing his best to curl up as small as possible in the corner of the couch. You tried not to make eye contact with him as you pulled the blanket from the back of the couch and draped it on the cushions. You weren’t particularly keen on having raw chicken all over your furniture, but you sat the plate on the blanket anyway. There was no way you trusted the cat to be able to jump down off your couch at this point.
“Here’s some chicken, kitty.” You gestured toward the plate, and he eyed it warily, unmoving. You supposed he would feel more comfortable eating if you weren’t in the room. “Don’t leave it too long--it’ll go bad. I have to go do some work. I’ll be in my office if you need me. It’s just down the hall.” As you stood up, you paused. You were talking to a cat. You were talking to a cat as if it could understand exactly what you were saying.
Maybe your parents were right. Maybe you had been living alone for too long.
Your mother had suggested you get a hybrid when you first moved to the city--a nice, loyal, protective one, like a German shepherd hybrid or a golden retriever--but you had never gone further than passively looking.
You were happy for the hybrids. A majority of them were still owned, but they could move about their lives freely and without question. It was illegal to treat them as servants, and all ownership had to be consensual, though you weren’t sure how well those rules were enforced. You didn’t really understand how someone could just own a hybrid--they were people, after all, even if their DNA was a little altered. It was weird to you, owning another sentient being like that.
Their lives were certainly much better than they had been. Some hybrids were naturally occurring, but others--a majority of them--had been created by rich and powerful individuals and the government in secret during some shady human experiments in the early 20th century. And, of course, because they were experiments, it created a whole host of problems regarding rights and discrimination.
But despite all the improvements, there was still a long way to go. There was nothing wrong with owning a hybrid if it was consensual, but that didn’t mean you were necessarily comfortable with it.
After a few hours of sitting at your desk working on your most recent graphic design project for work, you turned away and stretched. If you had to stare at the color chartreuse for ten more minutes, you thought you would go blind. It was time to check on the cat anyway, and you wanted to make sure you threw away any chicken that was left on the plate you had given him so he wouldn’t get sick.
When you entered the living room, you were immediately confused. The cat was gone, but so was your blanket. The plate was still on the couch, almost exactly where you left it, but it was entirely empty. Wonderful. You had taken in some sort of Houdini cat.
You grabbed the plate and put it in the sink, trying to look for your blanket as you went. You found it when you returned to the living room, the corner sticking out from under your TV stand. There was just enough space between the bottom shelf and the floor for the cat to fit under, and apparently he had taken the blanket with him. You couldn’t really blame him--it was April, and it was late evening, and your floors were still a little chilly.
“Hey kitty?” you called, bending down to see if you could see him under the shelf. You had thought about it while working, and at this point, you were just going to lean into the whole ‘talking to the cat like he’s a person’ thing. “It’s starting to get late. I’m going to go get ready for bed, okay?” You could just barely see his copper eyes hidden all the way under the TV stand. His pupils were blown wide to capture all the ambient light they could. “You can explore or whatever you’re comfortable with tonight, but please don’t ruin my stuff. Please be a good kitty.”
He blinked once and continued to stare blankly at you.
“Okay, well… if I don’t see you, goodnight.”
You stood and headed off to your bathroom to start your nightly routine. It only took you about a half an hour, but you were soon laying down in bed with your book. You had started it a few days ago, but you were hooked, and you were already almost done with it. The author had managed to somehow insert a space alien robot into today’s modern digital age, and you found it fascinating. You would never look at social media and influencers the same way after reading this book.
It was cozy in your room with the little bedside lamp on, snuggled up in your blankets. Your bed was soft--it was one of those that you could change it using a remote to fit your mood and preference, but you almost always preferred it soft--and you had plenty of blankets and pillows to make it comfortable.
You only had a few pages left when you noticed it, the shadow lingering in the hallway, slowly getting closer to your open bedroom door. It started out against the wall across the hall. When you next looked up after glancing down to your book, the shadow had moved to your doorway. He even had turned his head away like he was pretending it was a coincidence that he had ended up in your room.
He was walking with a slight limp, which was unsurprising given the bandage and the fact that he was attacked not even 12 hours before. He was much more lucid than he was when you first brought him home, though you could tell he was still a little groggy. You didn’t say anything to him--you figured if you did, he would bolt, so you let him do what he wanted.
After a few minutes--maybe 15 or 20--you closed your book quietly, careful not to startle the cat. You glanced at the doorway and didn’t see him, so you put your book on your nightstand and turned off the light. It took you a second, but you snuggled down into the blankets, pulling them tightly around you. You were just about to drift off when you felt it.
Something landed gently on your bed by your feet. It paused for a moment before slowly making its way up the bed to your head, its gait uneven. When it got to the other pillow, it laid down. You risked opening an eye then, and were met with copper eyes staring back at you.
He watched you warily, as if waiting for you to yell or kick him off the bed. When you didn’t, his eyes narrowed, and he slowly allowed himself to lay down, his head on his paws, curled up as best as he could be.
You fell asleep to the sound of him snoring lightly.
As always, your feedback is appreciated. Feel free to pop into my ask box with questions or thoughts about the series. I’d love to hear from you!

◈ Princess's First Day ◈ Park Seonghwa
↬ Genre: SFW - Ateez Dad au || Wc: 1.5K

↬ Net: @ficscafe | @k-library | @k-dinernet | @kpclub || 'DREAMLAND MASTERLIST' || 'NAVIGATION' |
The blinding sunlight penetrated the glass window and lit up the living room of the Parks' house where at 6:59 in the morning, all 3 of them were sound asleep and still in dreamland. Sounds of the birds outside the window in their nests and the low rumbles of the vehicles on the road could be heard well, for that was how silent the house was.
Well, it was silent until her clock hit 7am and the alarm went off, causing the sleeping beauty to wake up and immediately rushing off, out of her bedroom and straight into her parent's. Poor bunny plushie's head had been dragged on the marble flooring. How should she wake her parents up? She could go stand beside them and tug on their pajamas. Or she could stand still where she was at the door and call out to them until they woke. Maybe climb in between them to shake them awake?
"OOPFHHS" Or she could jump onto her daddy and pull him awake. Yes.
"Good morning daddy! Mommy wake up!" she happily greeted, completely unfazed that her father was coughing due to the impact of her weight on him and him alone.
Poor Seonghwa had still been coughing, "go-good morning to you too baby. How did you sleep?" he asked. Despite being attacked without warning, he wrapped his arm around his daughter. A father's instinct to make sure she doesn't fall off the bed and hurt herself.
"I see the little gremlin succeeded in waking up by herself" greeted her mother, whose eyes were falling back down.
She playfully hit her mother on the arms, saying "I'm no gremlin ... I'm a princess! Daddy's princess! Right, daddy??".
Seonghwa turned his head to look at his daughter's face and smiled warmly, "right baby". Their daughter's eyes turned crescent as she nodded at her mother as if saying 'see'.
"Get up please! It's time for school...it's time for school! I need to go to school! Eeee" she screeched excitedly.
"Honey, can you help her get dressed? I need a few more minute of shut eye. I'll be there in a bit" asked his wife.
The Parks had moved into the neighbourhood not too long ago. Last night his wife had been awake till late hours washing the dishes to make sure there were no dusts or mites on them since it came out of the moving boxes. This morning, it was Sejin's first day of pre-school.
"Sure sweetheart. Go back to sleep, I got this" assured Seonghwa, completely forgetting how hyper his daughter can be at times. But he'll manage. Right? Pulling aside the duvet, he stood up and was led to the bathroom.
"Daddy, I need you to help me wash my hair super clean ok?"
"What do you want to smell like today princess? Strawberry? Honey?" asked daddy Seonghwa, holding up 2 bottles for Sejin to choose. She thought long and hard, "Honey!" came her answer a second later. "Hahaha ok baby. Today you'll be the princess of the bee hive".
It had been a while since Seonghwa got to bathe his only daughter. He'd been so busy with work that he missed cleaning her up and hearing her tell him whatever dream she had that night.
"Alright baby. I think you're done! Wanna pick what you want to wear to school today?"
"Yes!" "Alright~" He slid his hands under her armpit and pulled her back into the bathroom before she was able to step out, "but first we need to dry you off. Mummy won't be happy seeing the floor all wet."
The sliding door of her walk in closet slide to the right, revealing Seonghwa and a wet Sejin. The little girl didn't even hesitate to say what she wanted to be dressed in, "pink polka dots daddy!". Seonghwa pulled out a white and soft pink polka dotted dress, Sejin's favourite dress as it was the first dress she got to choose. He helped his daughter zip up the dress and smoothed out the bottom layer.
"I look so pretty daddy!"
"Yes you do princess" he kissed her forehead, "you'll forever look pretty baby" and that was a fact in his world.
Sejin was much like her father. She doesn't always dress up but she wanted to, she goes all out. The princess didn't stop at her favourite dress. She ended up picking her dainty necklace and satin ribbon to match her dress, asking her daddy to help her tie her hair up into a half ponytail.
Admittedly, it took him longer than it should've to neatly tie her hair in the up do. He was confused because in the videos, it looked simple. It would've been easier if Sejin sat still but he was too blinded to see that. He ended up needing to comb through his daughter's locks 3 times because she couldn't stop shaking it left and right. She thought it was a fun game she was playing with her father.
"Thank you daddy!" and she dashed out from the closet, screaming at the top of her lungs as if she was being chased by the closet monster.
"Mummy!" yelled Sejin. She clung onto her mother's leg and nearly made her stumble backwards. Luckily her mother didn't fall back.
"What'cha making mummy?" asked her daughter. She looked down and saw the little pink blushed nose scrunching and sniffing the air, trying to guess what was on the marble island.
"Kimchi fried rice baby, for your lunchbox" her mother replied, softly stroking her daughter's hair and careful not to mess up her husband's great effort. At the sound of kimchi fried rice, Sejin couldn't help herself but jump all over the kitchen, hurrah! Chanting the name of the dish about 5 times before her mother silenced her.
"You promise mummy you'll be a good girl at school and finish your food ok?" "yes mummy!" "Atta girl~" The mother wasn't worried about her daughter's appetite but it was cute seeing her make little promises every now and then. Seonghwa's voiced boomed from the other side of the house, calling for his daughter.
"Sejin-ah! Daddy all ready to go, come!" and no longer than 6 seconds later his little girl came running towards him with her school bag in hand and her mother trailing behind with their daughter's lunch bag.
"You got ready pretty quick today" noted his wife. He smiled and nodded, replying that her royal highness requested to leave early so she wouldn't be late.
"Bye mummy ... love you! Onwards daddy!" giggled Sejin and skipped out of the house. Seonghwa kissed his wife on the cheeks and off they went to his car. Seonghwa opened the door, took his daughter's bag and placed it in the boot then proceeded to strap her in her car seat. Sejin didn't need to use a car seat anymore but she liked it and he was happy to oblige since she was still considered small enough for it.
The car ride was nice with Sejin softly talking about random things about how she loved her lunch menu today or about how she didn't like certain colours because she thinks they looked weird. She was especially happy talking about how nervous she was about meeting new friends. All while she talked on and on, Seonghwa nodded and smiled, glancing over her seat to keep her safe.
The car stopped in front of a corner lot house. "This is it, we're here princess. Your new pre-school" said Seonghwa. The moment Seonghwa got out of the car, Sejin unstrapped herself and await for her daddy to open her side of the door. Taking her daddy's hand in hers, she took brave steps towards the entrance. They were greeted by a friendly looking lady who smiled and talked with a sweet tone.
"Hi there darling. Who might you be?" the lady asked.
"Sejin. Park Sejin. I'm new here!"
"Ah yes, Sejin. We've been waiting for you. You don't have to worry, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun here" assured the lady. Sejin nodded with a smile, keeping herself to her best manners. The lady and daddy Seonghwa talked for a while before Seonghwa had to bid his daughter goodbye.
"Bye daddy!" "Bye princess! Stay safe and I'll pick you up later kay? Love you!" and off to work Seonghwa went. The lady ushered Sejin inside and she placed her bags at her box of the shelves. Sejin looked around the area and felt a little bit out of place. Other kids seemed to already know each other. That was until tiny voice took her attention and made her turn around.
"Who are you?" asked the little boy. He was a tad bit taller than her but he seemed nice.
"I'm Sejin" replied the little girl.
"I don't know you. It's reading time right now. Come if you don't want to be left alone here" the little boy resumed his walking and focused in front. Sejin followed suit, not knowing what to do.
"Wait - what's your name?" asked Sejin.
"Kang Youngmin" and off to the reading room they went. From afar, the teachers / care takers were watching the whole ordeal and they smiled to themselves. They didn't have to worry so much about Sejin. She's been accepted already.

Journey’s Start
@sea-wolf-coast-to-coast
FFxivWrite2022 Day 18 Prompt : Free Write
Senah jerked awake for the third night in a row clammy from sweat as the strange dream left her. The Lalafell’s heart was hammering as she sat up and stared out her window into the starry sky broken up by the branches of the trees.
As she sat there the quiet voice of her mother reached her ears. “Its getting to be too much Ardert. I know he needs it but the medicine is so expensive. We can barely afford it, much less getting it and keeping the farm up.”
“I know,” Ardert stated the frustration evident in his voice, “But what can we do Jora let the poor boy spend his days coughing to a point o bein unable to move?”
“No…,” she replied, sounding guilty that she had even brought it up.
“We’ll manage luv somehow we always do. Maybe we sell some o the sheep te them Limsan folks make less work overall. I know little Senah’s tryin te fill in fer her brother, but let's face it farm works hard on a Lalafell.”
Senah grimaced, her father hit hard on the truth of it. She was doing her best to fill in the gap her brother Burchard had left in the farm. Two falls past the boy had come down with the Creeping Death. Only being half Hyur, he survived it better than some did. But it permanently scarred his lungs and made him prone to coughing fits that literally made him bedridden most of the time without the medicine.
Medicine that was made in Frondale’s Phonistery in Ul’Dah and had to be imported into Gridania proper where one of the family would have to make the three day trip to the city to buy it and another three to bring it back to the farm. Medicine that only lasted a month.
All in all it was putting a strain on the farm every time it needed to be gotten but none of the family would allow Burchard to go without it. He suffered so much without its help and they all loved him too dearly to let that happen.
There's gotta be something that can be done, Senah thought to herself as she sat there in bed
Then it hit her, she struggled with farm work but she was skilled enough with a bow. Time and again she had brought her family food via a quick clean shot. The last time it had been her who had gone to Gridania to get her brother's medicine. While there she had stopped in the Carline Canopy to see Mother Miounne speaking with a young Miqo’te who had just arrived and was registering as an adventurer.
Adventurers get paid te do all sorts o odd jobs round Gridania, the Shroud and pretty much anywhere folks are lookin fer help she said to herself.
Making up her mind she got up and made her way out to the kitchen where her mother and father had been quietly talking. Her mother turned and said softly, “Sorry Senah we didn’t mean to wake you.”
The Dunesfolk shook her head, “Ye didn’t wake me ma but I did hear ye and dad talking.”
Both the Elezen and his Hyuran wife looked sheepish and started to open their mouths to speak when she raised her hand to stop them.
“I ain’t upset far from it actually. I getcha an I know how hard its been and how technically useless I am on the farm. The tools are too big fer me and I can’t really wrangle the herd. Bout the only thing I can do is get ol Basil te listen and even then he’s just a stubborn bird that don’t wanna do much.” she stated, “An it got me thinkin, I’m a fair hand with a bow an Gridania’s always looking fer ‘venturers te help out. So I think I should head te the city proper and join the guild…”
Worry filled her father’s eyes and the Elezen blurted, “Senah…adventuring is dangerous. Its not just simple chores, sometimes it's killing beasts or even Ixal…”
Senah nodded, “I know it ain't a skip through flowers, I know there's trouble abound ‘specially now even so far after the Calamity but, there is coin te be had. Coin that could help the farm out and I ain't afraid. I also ain't plannin on rushing out till I got proper knowledge o things. And Gridania has the Archers Guild which could teach me how te hone my bow skills so I could defend myself.”
“Senah…” her mother began
“Look I get it, yer worried and rightly so. But I ain't gonna just run off and try and gain glory and the like. I’ll do the small jobs, the ones some scoff at cause they think it beneath em. I go slow and careful. Ye both and my brothers have always treated me like family and I wanna do my part te help.”
Her father gave a bemused smirk, “There is no talking you outta this is there?”
The Dunesfolk shook her head, “Nope, it ain't just cause o concern for the family I’m doing this.” she paused a moment her eyes became contemplative before she continued, “It’s something I need to do, dunno why, but it is.”
Her father nodded her mother made a sound of protest but he just held up a hand to her before looking his diminutive daughter in the eye stating, “When mornin starts run over te Asta’s farm and ask if she’s got a moment te talk. She spent years wanderin as an adventurer fore she settled down te farm. Find out what yer signing up for if it’s whatcha wanna do lass.”
Senah nodded then bid both of them good night knowing full well that just because she was supposed to go over there tomorrow didn't mean she didn't still have to do the chores in the morning.
Her heart was pounding again this time with excitement. She had been truthful that she wasn't going to just rush into things but that didn't mean that the prospect of doing something other than farm work all day long wasnt an exciting thought. And as she had told both of them this felt right, like it was something she was meant to do. She didn’t know how or why but it did.

Happy Birthday; Scenario
Character; Law
Word Count; 1,248
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DEARLY BELOVED !! Modern AU because there are ONLY good vibes here !! i’m writing this without hamfie’s permission pls don’t kill me ty ily
There was something incredibly lonely about waking up in the mornings alone.
When the rays from the sun peeks through the curtains, and the chirping of birds sound more like nails scraping against chalkboard than a daylight tune, Law finds it hard to get out of bed. It wasn’t the first time, and it surely wouldn’t be the last. Still, he manages.
The scent of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of Bepo’s pattering is enough to wake him up in the mornings, most days. He’s thankful that today is one of those days.
It’s 8:42 in the morning when he receives a text.
It’s from the group chat he has with Shachi and Penguin- it’s unusual for them to be up this early. They’re wishing him a ‘Happy Birthday,’ and it’s only then does he remember what day today is. Scrolling up, it seems this was the second birthday text. The first was sent exactly at midnight.
Why did you send it twice, he wonders sipping on his coffee and sending back a ‘Thank you,’ message. They respond moments later, saying how he’s too formal, and that they’ll be telling him happy birthday for the rest of the day- something he very quickly shoots down. Unfortunately for him, he knows his friends don’t take 'No,’ for an answer.
He doesn’t tell them how he’s secretly grateful that they were so hard-headed.
The weather is good today.
There’s a slight breeze, only strong enough to sway a few hairs, and the sun is playing hide-and-seek, popping out every couple minutes to greet passerby's before going back behind the clouds.
This is the time he takes the harness off of Bepo and allows him to run and play with the other dogs. Despite being so big, Law would argue that he’s never met a bigger baby.
“Don’t run too far,” he ruffles his fur, earning a happy bark in return before the white mass scampers off.
He could still remember the first time Bepo had ran off and gotten lost. It wasn’t too far away from home, not even a ten minute walk, but the poor thing was frightened, shaking near some bushes. Thankfully, every since then, he’s always stuck within view.
“TORAOOOO!”
There goes my morning, is the only thought that passes as he’s tackles to the ground.
“Shishishi!” Law would swear up and down that Luffy needed a leash way more than an actual dog. “Happy Birthday!”
“Thanks,” he groans, trying, and failing, to push the younger male off of him. Where does he get all this strength from? Eventually, he gives, and falls back on the ground. There was no use in trying to get him to let go, and he surely wasn’t going to do it voluntarily any time soon, so what was the point?
“Need help there, Traffy?” The snickers of Luffy’s two brothers ring prominently in his ears. Of course they were enjoying this- if you hadn’t told him that the three of them were actually adopted brothers Law would accept that they were all blood related.
“Get him off,” he seethes, watching as Sabo casually lifts his younger brother up by the collar like a cat. He only barely manages to regain his balance when Ace comes next to him and roughly slaps his back, grin wider than ever, as if he didn’t just give someone a seven-inch bruise.
“Happy birthday, dude!” Thankfully, Sabo’s a little nicer.
“Any special plans today?” The blonde asks, still holding onto his brother who’s desperately trying to flee from his vice grip to no avail.
“None,” he answers. His friends have enough energy for today that he feels like there wasn’t a need to expend his own. “I’ll take Bepo on a walk, visit family, then go back home.”
Despite his rough tone, they don’t seem to mind. “Well then,” Ace makes his way to join Sabo. “I hope you have a good day then, we should get going. It’s was nice seeing you.”
He rubs his back, half-heartedly agreeing with that statement before walking back to the bench. For some reason he felt like today was going to be a long one.
The door opens with so much force Law swears that the hinges would need to be replaced later.
“Big brother!”
He smiles, as he always does around her. “Morning, Lami.”
“Don’t ‘Morning, Lami,’ me! You didn’t respond to my text message this morning!” She huffs, puffing out her cheeks and settling both hands on her lips. “But who cares about that,” her frown is replaced as quickly as it came with her signature smile. Her hands reach out to grab his and drag him inside the house, Bepo and all. “Mom and Dad have been waiting for you! Cora-san is here, too!”
“Cora-san?” He repeats. It wasn’t that he wasn’t happy to see him, quite the opposite, but given the clumsy nature of the man Law had to wonder how, and if, did he get here unscathed.
“Yeah! Uncle Doffy drove him over.” Ah, he cringes, that explains it.
Stepping into the room felt stifling. Not in a bad way, of course, but the amount of love that fluttered through the air and glided right towards him felt surreal. This happens every year, but he could never get used to it.
“Law!” His mother and Rosinante both stand up from their seats at the same time. Lami dodges out of the way, moving to sit next to Doflamingo- how she could stand that man was beyond him. “You’ve grown so much since I last saw you!” The older male ruffles his hair.
“You saw me last month, Cora-san.” He moves out of the way from his uncle only to get trapped in the arms of his mother.
Her words are as gentle as her touch, and he doesn’t mind admitting that he likes being held by her. “Happy birthday, Law.” He gives her a gentle squeeze back.
Their hug doesn’t last long, only a couple seconds, but there were other people in the room, restless to congratulate the celebrity of the day. “Why don’t you come sit down?”
He would like that.
It’s late night when he finally arrives home again.
It’s been a long day, just as he had thought it would be. From visiting family to friends tackling him on the street, to getting dragged out to celebrate at the Baratie for lunch- there was no denying that he was grateful to have such supportive people in his life, but perhaps they were just a bit too supportive.
He barely manages to fish the keys out of his pocket when the door opens.
“Law!” A flood of calm washes over him. “Welcome home!”
He doesn’t say anything as he steps inside and takes off his shoes, finally releasing Bepo from his harness. You don’t say anything either, content with simply standing to the side and waiting for him to finish his tasks.
There was something so fulfilling about coming home to someone waiting for you. How they’ll greet you back every time with a big smile and open arms, urging you to come closer.
“I’m home.” He mutters, burying his face in your neck.
“Tiring day?”
“Yeah,” he appreciates the strokes to his hair.
“I’ve made dinner.”
“Do you mind if we take a bath first?”
“The food will get cold.”
“That’s fine.”
You chuckle, “alright.”
He hums, but doesn’t let go. Just a bit longer.
“And, Law?”
“Yeah?”
“Happy Birthday.”

Hey babe!
I sort of have an unusual request. I'm not sure if you'd want to write it but ugh<3 it's okay if you don't.
So do you remember that scene from the final HP movie where HP , Ron, Ginny and all are shown with their children at the station?
I'm sort of inspired by that.
Can you maybe write a Cedric Diggory X reader where he and his wife the Reader come to drop their kids to the station and the reader is pregnant with another one and there's a lot of fluff and sweet shit ?
Hey, you! So I loved this idea and FINALLY finished it! Let this be a Valentine’s day gift to you my love! <3 Hope you like it!
Cedric Diggory x fem!Reader (Fluff)
“Outnumbered.”
“This is the last time I’m letting you do this to me, Diggory.”
“I believe you had an equal part in this, Mrs Diggory.”
“Damn you and that smile of yours.”
“Mum, Dad, we’re going to be late. Let’s go!”
“He’s right, mum, my friends would be waiting for me, so if we could just hurry this up a bit.”
“Oh alright! Help me get out at least.”
“Coming, love!”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bright, golden rays of light brought warmth through the windows as the birds, as usual, started screeching unnecessarily, otherwise called chirping, but you know, depends on if you’re a morning person or not.
One specific person in the Diggory Household was most definitely not, a morning person.
“Mom! Wake up! We have to go! It’s finally the 1st of September!”
“Son, please get off the bed. I know you’re excited for your first year, but you don’t have to break our bed for it, little man. I’ll bring your mother out, don’t worry.” Cedric ushered the boy out, smiling and shaking his head at his son’s antics.
He moved to stand next to the bed where his wife was laying peacefully and looked at her lovingly. He found it hard to take his eyes off her angelic let alone thinking of ruining her slumber.
“Are you just going to stand there and watch me like a creep?” (Y/N) said with her eyes still closed but a smirk playing on her lips.
“I could watch you for all my life and never get tired of what I see, love,” Cedric said sitting next to (Y/N) and helping her sit up.
“Yeah, yeah I believe you Diggory. After all, I am the pretty one in this relationship,” (Y/N) said, sarcasm oozing from every word.
Cedric just laughed softly and supported a very visibly pregnant (Y/N) wobble to the bathroom to freshen up.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Okay, do we have everything? Have you guys packed everything?” (Y/N) asked for the third time, just to ‘make sure that her son and daughter had everything they would possibly ever need.’
“Yes, mum. We have everything, don’t worry.” Her daughter looked at her with a smile as she came back from keeping her and her brother’s trunks in the luggage carriage.
“Oh, look at our kids all grown up,” (Y/N) said, looking adoringly at their kids with her hands holding Cedric’s. “Come here.” She pulled both of them into a bone-crushing hug that could rival Mrs Weasley’s while Cedric watched this heart-warming interaction with tearful eyes.
Eventually, (Y/N) let the poor kids breathe and let Cedric take over as she was on the verge of bursting out into sobbing.
“Always remember that whatever house you end up in, we will always support you no matter what. That will change nothing between us, and we will still love you unconditionally. Okay, young man?” Cedric put his hands on his son’s shoulders and assured him as he looked a bit nervous.
“I love you, mum and dad! I’ll miss you so much!” He hugged Cedric and (Y/N), letting a few tears slip out.
After all the final goodbyes were exchanged, (Y/N) watched as her son and daughter climbed aboard the Hogwarts express and looked up to see that Cedric was already looking at her. He hugged her around the waist and bent down to put his head on her shoulder.
“You know, we’re going to be outnumbered soon,” Cedric said, placing a hand on (Y/N)’s baby bump.
“Yeah, we are,” (Y/N) leaned her head against Cedric’s and continued, “Time flies by so quickly. It only feels like yesterday when those two little devils used to fit in our arms and fuss about not getting attention. And now look at them, look at us. Everything’s changed. Everyone’s grown so much.” She placed her hand over Cedric’s and sighed contentedly.
“Our love and bond as a family will only grow as times change. This little tyke,” Cedric said as he rubbed his hand slowly over the baby bump, “will experience the love of two adoring parents, an overprotective older brother, and a caring older sister. This family is the best thing that ever happened to me.”
(Y/N) turned around in his arms and pulled his face down for a small but passionate kiss before hugging him tightly.
“You know I love you, right, Golden boy?” (Y/N) let out a watery chuckle and said to him.
“Yes, I do know that,” He cupped her face in his hands and continued, “and I love you despite your stupid nicknames, love.”
Cedric kissed (Y/N) before they heard a loud ‘Ewwww’ coming from a nearby carriage window.
“Oh, shut up, you two.” (Y/N) waved off their son and daughter as they all laughed and said goodbye to each other as the train sounded its final horn.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
bella swan x fem! reader.
lowercase intended.
this story takes place during new moon. also, i love edward cullen as much as i love bella swan but in this story, edward cullen has no rights.
me and my homies all fucking HATE new moon edward cullen.
anyways, if you like this, please give it a 'like' and tell me if you like it because it'll mean the world to me :(
thank you and enjoy!! WARNINGS: smut. there's not a lot of it, it's mainly just oral and somewhat dirty talk. again, not a whole lot of anything, really. it's mainly fluff with somewhat smut. idk??? either way. i hope yall like it.
(y/n) stirred in her sleep, the floor below her squeaking loudly due to her continuous movements. she couldn't stop squirming around, couldn't get comfortable in the slightest, no matter how much she tried to do so. (y/n) tried her best but didn't - couldn't - succeed. she was constantly stirring as she tried to rest.. no matter what position she tried, no matter how many melatonin gummies she had previously taken before as well, nothing seemed to work. both her thoughts and heart were racing, she knew they wouldn't stop or slow down any time soon, either. they kept going, running and running, it was as if her thoughts were a horse, racing to the finishing line but the finishing line was so far away, so out of reach, she couldn't seem to catch up to it. as for her heart, it was hammering away against her chest, rapidly. though, she knew it was physically impossible, (y/n) swore her best friend - bella swan - could hear (y/n)'s heartbeat drumming and jack hammering against her chest. but all was silent in the room, other than the faint snores drifting away from bella's lips and (y/n)'s heavy breathing. the thoughts that clouded her mind were nothing but pure filth, such sinful things that'd make even the devil red in the face and cause him to go speechless. all these thoughts were about bella, too. (y/n) knew it was wrong to think such thoughts about your best friend, especially one who just went through a break up not too long ago but she couldn't help herself. truth be told, she always did have an attraction to her best friend, ever since the two were children, actually, (y/n) always had a crush on bella.
of course, she didn't know what those feelings were as a kid, she just thought bella was pretty the way flowers were and the way the sky was when it'd drastically change colors, have it be a sunset or a sunrise, it didn't matter because they were a beautiful sight to her, as was bella. The marriage of warm honey hues and deep caramels spun in bella's eyes, her brown hair was long and wavy, it flowed so smoothly down over her shoulders and across her back.
as of the moment, however, her hair was a bird's nest and in every other angle, strands of hair poked out from her sleeping, restless face. it actually made (y/n) giggle faintly as she bent forward, sneaking a peek at her best friend.
she had done this every other time within the night, sneaking a glance, here and there, just to watch how beautiful she slept - how peaceful she looked. but (y/n) also was quick to lay back down against the sleeping bag she was oh so, uncomfortably sleeping in. the moment bella rolled over and shifted in her sleep, she'd be quick to shut her eyes and play pretend, afraid of bella waking up and seeing her, gawking at her, googly eyes and a lovestruck expression across her face. she didn't want bella to think she was a total creep, for gazing at her like that, especially as the girl was elsewhere within her own state of mind, more than likely, dreaming of her ex boyfriend, edward, too. the reason they were having this sleepover, anyways, was because charlie - bella's dad - suggested it. said that bella could use a friend, especially with edward getting up and walking out on her for whatever, given reason that may be, nobody expect bella knew. and even then, bella didn't say anything about it. she kept quiet. but even then, no words needed to be spoken, bella's expressions and body language were more than enough of a dead giveaway; she was still so hung up about the cullen boy.
at least, this is what (y/n) thought. everyone in forks thought that. expect, as she's thinking about bella, lost in her own thoughts, she hears a faint whimper, coming above her. eyebrows furrowed and bottom lip tugged between her teeth, (y/n) sits up and at first, she hesitates, wondering if she should wake bella up herself or go and get charlie. charlie warned her that bella was having nightmares, waking up in the middle of the night, she'd yell on the top of her lungs and cry until there were no tears left. expect, before she could make that decision, she hears the whimpers growing louder, thus giving her the explanation and the answer to the question she had yet asked. bella wasn't having a night terror, no, instead she was touching herself. and she was touching herself to (y/n). "a-ah.... oh... (y/n)..." bella's voice is hoarse, groggy, it's as if she had just woken up. (y/n) felt foolish for not having picked up on the sudden noises before but there they were - the faint buzzing and the soft, slick sound of bella pleasuring herself with said toy. once she recognized the sound, she couldn't unhear it. (y/n) now, having known what it exactly was that she was doing, she could hear it a little too well. it sent her own core throbbing, begging to be touched. the thin layer of cloth she wore around her thighs, a poor excuse of a pair of panties if you ask her, began to leak with (y/n)'s arousal. but there, she lay, as stiff as a board, unable to move. until she heard bella's voice. then and only then, did she feel her heart begin to pick back up with speed and the butterflies that she desperately tried to hide began to flutter and fly deep within her stomach, sending an endless amount of feelings to flood her. "(y/n)? i know you're awake... i know you can hear me. i can practically read your thoughts, too. read you like a book. i've known you since, well... forever." bella giggled but her voice cracked, giving away at the last sentence she spoke, it was as if she was on the verge - the edge - of coming undone. and completely oblivious to the fact, bella was, indeed, on the edge of an orgasm. and she needed (y/n). now, more than ever, she needed her best friend. "i know you want me, (y/n). i won't lie, either, i want you too... and i also know you want my pretty pussy as much as i want yours." (y/n)'s breath hitches in her throat and she solemnly swears her heart stops beating. fully sitting up, her (e/c) eyes meet with bella's hazel ones. "are you sure? you aren't just saying this because-" bella shook her head, quick to reply before (y/n) could even mention her ex boyfriend's name. bella didn't want to hear about him. not now, not ever again. he broke her heart but here (y/n) was, always there to pick bella up when she fell. bella, herself, felt like an idiot for not realizing her feelings sooner. yes, she loved edward, and a little piece of her always probably would love him. and yes, she'll also think about the endless possibilities that could have happened in the future with edward but....
as she looked at her best friend, bella realizes that she'd rather remain as a mortal and die, loving this girl than love an immortal who left, even after claiming he loved her and wanted to spend forever with her.
she'd rather be with (y/n) the girl who never gave up on her, even in the most difficult times. this was her forever. and as dull and depressing as a human may be, especially one so scared of dying, bella wasn't afraid anymore. being with (y/n) made her feel alive.
and again, she'd die, happily, as long as it meant (y/n) was by her side throughout it all.
both bella and (y/n) knew, too, nothing would ever tear them apart. no matter what, they'd always be together.
friendship or relationship, at the end of the day, it'll always be them. "yes. i'm sure. i'm positive. i want you now more than ever. i.... well, i've been thinking about it for awhile. often, i should say.... you're the only friend - only person - who has remained by my side, not just with this breakup but even when i lived thousands and thousands of miles away. you sent me letters and packages.... hell, when i told you i finally got a laptop. you were the first person in my inbox. you sent me multiple emails, all of which mainly contained of nothing expect, 'i miss you's.'
you were always there for me. and even now, even when i had pushed you away for a boy who could care less about me, you were there. i love you, (y/n). and i am so sorry it took me so long before to realize." by the time, bella was done talking, (y/n) scrambled up on her feet (she nearly fell in the progress, too) and pushed bella down against the bed, instantly crashing her lips on the other girl's. smiling in the kiss, bella happily kisses back, murmuring a soft, "i love you," against (y/n)'s lips. "and i love you." (y/n) replied. the kiss was short, simple and sweet. it would have lasted longer and bella was upset when (y/n) had pulled away but (y/n) giggles softly and explains why she ended the kiss so soon, so quickly. "what did you say earlier, by the way? you know.... about me, wanting that pretty pussy of yours? is that offer still on the table, bell?" (y/n) whispered, seduction easing its way into the words she spoke. bella shuddered, feeling her nipples harden and her cunt throb as (y/n) talked. "y-yes." bella stammered, blushing deeply as she chewed on her bottom lip. "will you? please? 'm still so wet." bella continued, the blush on her cheeks only growing a deeper and darker red as she confessed this.
in one swift movement, bella holds the toy up, proving her statement. the toy was small, no bigger than her and (y/n)'s fingers combined. the only light in the room, other than the faint glimmer and glow of the lights hung up above bella's bed was the pale light of the moon, peaking out from the curtains. even with little to no light, (y/n) could tell the toy was soaked with bella's wetness. "lay on your back. spread your legs for me, want to see your full pussy on display for me. won't you do that for me, bells? be my good girl and show me your cute cunt?"
like earlier, bella shuddered at (y/n)'s words and throwing the comforter off of her, she gets cozy and lays on the mattress, her breathing heavy as she watched (y/n) spread her legs apart and before she can even register what's happening, she feels the soft but wet tip of (y/n)'s tongue in between her folds. "oh." bella mewled, throwing her head back against the pillows behind her head. edward never touched her, other than a few awkward kisses, here and there. he always said he was too scared he'd hurt her. how ironic, being the fact he still managed to hurt her by leaving her. not so much in the bedroom because they never got around to it. but he was gone now and (y/n) was here, showing and proving that she was better than that heartless, and undead son of a bitch. "(y/n) please..." bella whimpered, tugging on her lower lip harder as she felt (y/n)'s tongue go deeper inside. a moan leaves her lips before she could say anything else. (y/n), taking her clit in her mouth, bella squeals with delight and surprise at the sudden action. "oh, fuck, yes~!" bella moans, throwing her head back, her hand finds its way into (y/n)'s hair, curling her fingers around the stray few pieces that slip between her fingertips. "eat me out, baby, just like that. you like that, hm? like the taste of your best friend's cunt on your tongue? fucking devour it, baby, eat me out as if i'm your last meal. oh, (y/n)!!" bella's voice grew louder, more needy, by the second. (y/n) as quick as ever, flicks her tongue again and again, over and over, against bella's clit, her lips hollow over her womanhood and she licks all around, taking in bella's juice like a cum slut she was.
bella seemed to enjoy it, with the way she was withering and shaking above her. there's that, of course, and her, growing wetter the more (y/n)'s tongue and lips hover over her cunt. so, there was the answer to the question she had yet asked. being the ultimate tease, however, (y/n) pulls back and replaces her tongue with the toy that bella used earlier, slipping it in easily as the wetness of herself continues to leak out. "oh, fuck!" bella exclaims, she's quick to cover her mouth with the palm of her hand, however, reminding herself that her father was downstairs, more than likely, passed out on the couch with a repeat of last year's game on the screen. if he had heard her yelling, (thanks for that, edward) he'd be quick to run up the stairwell, careful on his feet so he wouldn't trip and he'd burst through the door, seeing if his daughter was okay and if she needed him like all the other times he had heard her, screaming and hollering. of course, if that were the case; he'd see bella, being eaten out by her best friend, tears of pleasure and satisfaction rolling down her cheeks, bottom lip clamped between her teeth, all while (y/n)'s face was full of her pussy, her chin glistening with her juices. as her one hand covered her mouth, her other had left (y/n)'s hair and was digging into the comforter, her nails digging into the flower printed fabric.
"that's it, baby, yes, yes, oh, FUCK. fuck me like that, please, don't stop, oh please, don't stop." bella's words ran together as she was getting closer and closer to an orgasm. the slur in her speech made it seem as if she were drunk, more than anything. "fuck me like a whore, (y/n), please... want you. need you so bad. 'wan be a good girl for you and cum just for you, babygirl, please." more than happy to do so, (y/n) does exactly that. removing the toy, (y/n) replaces the opening of bella's cunt with her fingers, pumping her fingers back and forth; in and out. she does this while shoving her face back in between bella's thighs. meanwhile, bella bucks her hips into her best friend's mouth, her lips falling down into a little 'o' shape as the familiar heat pools in the bottom of her stomach and continues to build. her teeth clench together as her feet arch up and her toes curl downward. "oh god.... oh, (y/n).. i'm coming!" bella's words, like earlier, have not changed because the palm of her hand was still clamped over her mouth, therefore the words that left her lips were muffled. as the girl rides out her high, the other gal remained in the same position, licking and swallowing all the cum that bella just let loose, happily slurping it up. the girl below was obviously messy. even in the dim lighting of the room, bella could see her best friend's face was covered with her own arousement, it was dripping from her lips and her own wetness - she noticed - was sticking to her underwear and was beginning to leak, the drip sticking to her thighs. had she really came, untouched?
the thought made bella hornier, if that were even possible. "was that okay?" (y/n) was the first one to speak up and her voice came out in a whisper. it took bella a moment or two to process the words and piece them together. giggling, bella is quick to sit up and crawl over, pinning (y/n) to the bed and kissing her.
"baby, that was wonderful... you made me feel so fucking good so great. i love you so much." (y/n), hearing bella confess this, squeals with happiness as she kisses her best friend - girlfriend? - back, smiling widely into the kiss as they lay there, lovingly interlocking lips with one another. "but..." bella pulls away, her cheeks flushing as she continues with her sentence, "how about me? can i have a taste of you?" goosebumps prickle her skin at the question and eagerly, (y/n) nods and grips onto bella's arm, her fingernails digging into her skin as she practically begs for it.
she needed this so bad.
wanted bella so bad since all those summer's ago. "please, bella..." giggling and smiling - oh, how (y/n) loved seeing her smile, especially knowing she was the reason behind it - bella nods as she trails down, opening (y/n)'s legs and doing the exact same thing that (y/n) just did. "oh... bella..." *~*
throughout the night, bella and (y/n) took turns, pleasing and pleasuring the other. soft, gentle whispers of 'i love you's' left their lips at any given chance, at any free moment they had. by the end of the night, bella forgot all about edward cullen, all she could think about was (y/n).
as for (y/n) she was - though, she wouldn't dare say this to her best friend -
(well, girlfriend)
(bella asked if it was okay if they put that label on themselves and (y/n) laughed and pulled her into a passionate yet hungry kiss, "i've been waiting forever for you to ask me... yes, bella, i'd love to be your girlfriend.")
but she was glad edward was out of the picture, too.
(the two girls came out to charlie the next morning and completely unfazed, he nods and presses a steaming cup of coffee to his lips, sipping on it slowly before he spoke, “at least you know you have my approval.”
charlie, too, was more than happy to see edward gone and out of the picture. he liked (y/n) a lot better, anyways.)
A to Z of LynnCove: B is for Birthday
Cove’s first birthday in Sunset Bird is not going as well as he expected... ok its going horrible, but thankfully Lynn is there to the rescue (Feelings are Crush and Direct)
[ low-key this is me counting down to @gb-patch’s release of the Step 3 dlc, but also kinda beyond that because why not]
---------------------------------------------------
If he was entirely honest about it, Cove didn’t really expect anyone from school to show up to his birthday party. He didn’t have any friends in class and only gave out invitations to everyone because his dad made them. No, what really made this the worst birthday ever was that his dad had forgotten. Yes! Forgotten the party that HE was going to set up. If anyone HAD shown up, they would’ve been in for a terrible surprise. Mr. Holden was even super busy that week, and had forgotten all about his fatherly duties.
So when cove left his room that morning, not expecting much but still hopeful, he was met with disappointment and an empty house. His father had left a note and breakfast on the stove that he had to run in to work for an emergency - with no indication that he knew it was his son’s birthday. Cove honestly wanted to cry right away; and the feelings began to well up inside of him as he grabbed a plate and sat down to eat breakfast. Cold eggs and bacon. Happy birthday to him.
[rest under the cut]
Meanwhile at the Cho house, or rather a few hours earlier ... Pamela Cho came downstairs to a frantic answering machine message from Cliff Holden that he needed to go somewhere for the day due to an emergency at work. When she tried calling back to get an explanation, Mr. Holden wasn’t picking up his phone. Hrm. Well it wasn’t an inconvenience for them to take care of Cove that day - her and her wife’s youngest child seemed to love him in a rather innocent way. Their older daughter was indifferent to him.
As though she’d called their name, little footsteps came bounding down the stairs as she set the phone back in it’s place. Pamela, or Mom, as her kids called her, was a morning person - and thankfully so was Lynn, her youngest. Her wife Noelani, and oldest child Lizzie, were both the kind to sleep in late. So it was just Pamela and Lynn at the moment.
“Good Morning Mom!” Lynn called out as they hopped over to where one of their mothers was. Pamela smiled and let out a small chuckle,
“What’s got you all excited this morning?” She asked, reaching out to ruffle the mess of dark waves that Lynn had. Lynn didn’t move away from their mom, and relished in the comforting gesture.
“It’s Cove’s birthday!! His dad sent out invitations for a party, I helped cove hand them out to the whoooole class!” Pamela smiled
“That’s - “ She cut herself off, eyes going wide in dawning horror. “You said ... TODAY is Cove’s birthday?” and when Lynn nodded back with confusion, Pamela made a b-line to where her keys were.
“Baby go wake up your Mommy, okay?” Pam called out, turning to grab hold of her child’s shoulders.
“What’s wrong mom?” Lynn asked.
“Mr. Holden just called me that he had to leave for an emergency for work. Looks like there won’t be a party today.” Pamela spoke as she slid her shoes on, Lynn let out a small gasp.
“That mean’s Cove is all alone on his birthday!” They exclaimed.
“Exactly. Now go wake up your Mommy, I’ll bring Cove over here.” Pamela opened the door as Lynn ran up the stairs to go wake Noelani up.
Cove was taken by surprise when his front door opened. A tiny part of him wanted it to be his dad, and say ‘surprise buddy! I didn’t forget about your birthday!’ but there was no such thing. Instead, one of Lynn’s moms was at the door - a sympathetic look in her eyes.
“Hey Cove.” She spoke, walking over to where he was sitting at the counter island. “I got a call from your dad that he had an emergency. Thought I’d come pick you up to spend the day with us.” Cove looked away from her and back down to his breakfast that he’d barely touched. “Come on, we’ll take you out for breakfast since we know it’s your birthday.” His eyes widened as he heard those words.
“Y- you know it’s my birthday?” Cove questioned in a tiny voice “I thought that everyone forgot.” Pamela’s heart broke for the poor kid.
“No way. Lynn was practically off the walls with excitement this morning. Your dad too, told us to make it a good day for you in his message.” Pamela never really lied, but this time it was needed - as the kid already had a hard enough time with his father. Cliff deserved this much. Cove nodded and moved to hop off the chair that he was in. His bright pink cast still on his arm, only a month or so until he’d get it off. Pamela helped him wash and put away all of the leftovers and pots/pans. She was the neat freak between her and noelani, but it seemed that Cove didn’t mind it and was just following along.
As soon as the two of them got back over to the Cho house, they were greeted with quite a surprise. A few balloons, a banner, and some streamers were decorating the main living area. Lizzie and Lynn both popped confetti-poppers and Lynn shouted “surprise!” as the pair of them came through the door. Cove entered with a visible look of surprise on his face, though that soon was supplemented by a bright blush when he noticed Lynn’s bright expression.
“Noelani!” Pamela exclaimed, “How did you put this all together so quickly?” Noelani shook her head, her sprawling curls bouncing as she moved.
“Not my idea.” Noelani spoke between yawns , “Lynn was like a tornado. I trust you’ll give me a real explanation.” When Pam smiled at her and nodded, she nodded as well.
“Iranalloverthehousetogetallthisstuffforyou!Itsallmostlymyoldbirthdaystuffandsomeoflizziesbutwedon’tmindoratleastIdontmind!Imsogladyourehereicantwaittocelebratewithyou!” Lynn’s voice went a mile a minute, making Cove’s (and their mom’s) head spin.
“Thank you lynn.” Cove spoke softly, cutting off anything else that Lynn was going to spew out. Lynn just kept quite and smiled brightly at him.
“Since Lynn looks already dressed, how about the three of us change and we’ll all go out to take Cove for birthday breakfast?” Pamela offered, to which Lizzie and Lynn nodded vigorously. Noelani offered a smile and was the first one to head up the stairs.
“Do you think we can go to that pancake place that has the confetti pancakes?” Lizzie asked, looking hopefully at her Mom.
“If that’s what Cove wants for breakfast, then sure.” Pamela answered. When the eyes turned back to him, Cove nodded with the smallest of smiles.
“I like pancakes.” He spoke simply, and with a cheer from Lizzie - Pamela and Lizzie both headed to get changed. The two people left in the living area were Lynn and Cove.
“Happy birthday Cove.” Lynn spoke with a smile. For some reason that he wasn’t sure of, it made him feel a lot better , their well-wishes. He didn’t quite know what to say but-
“Thank you Lynn.” A blush creeped across his face as he followed Lynn to the couch, the two of them hopping up to wait for the others.
“I got you a birthday gift, but you’ll have to wait before we get back. Mommy said I couldn’t bring it with us to breakfast.” Cove nodded and the two of them talked quietly about this or that , mostly breakfast preferences, until the full family was ready to head out and go get breakfast.
Breakfast went well enough. Cove got birthday pancakes, but really really didn’t want the waiters to sing to him - which was perfectly fine for the family (ok well lizzie wanted to hear the song, but her protests were shot down). After they returned to the house, Lynn’s moms went to go have an ‘adult talk’ and Lizzie ran off to her own room, leaving Cove and Lynn alone once again.
“Oooh!” Lynn exclaimed as they ran up the stairs ,with Cove following slowly behind them. “I can’t wait to give the gift to you. I worked really hard to find the best thing. Ok, things, to give you!” Cove could feel the excitement radiate off of Lynn, and despite how sad he still felt, was smiling a little at the thoughtfulness of the day so far. He followed close behind, and all the way to Lynn’s room - which was much neater compared to his bedroom at home.
He sat down on Lynn’s bed at their request, and watched as Lynn grabbed a medium-sized box from their closet. It was all nicely wrapped up, with a bow and everything. He marveled at it in awe as Lynn set it down next to him.
“Go ahead!” They motioned to the package. “Open it!” Cove rather expertly tore through the wrapping paper, and the ribbons, to get to the present inside.
It was a box of various things. There was a small box that held a bracelet similar to the one Lynn always wore, a dolphin keychain, a stuffed monkey with sunglasses and surfboard, and another small box that took up half of the medium-sized one. As Cove took that box out, he felt that there was something important in this one. Maybe it wasn’t literal gold, or diamonds, but he got the feeling that it was important either way.
In the smaller box was a set of various scavenged objects: shells and sea-glass mostly, that were all gathered from the beach that laid just down at the end of the street. It was all so good, Cove thought to himself. But then he realized something. Lynn’s special sea-finds box was gone. That meant...
“Lynn I-” He started, but Lynn cut Cove off before he could say anything.
“I want you to have this. It's got lots of good stuff.” Lynn’s smile was wide and brilliant as they motioned for him to keep the box.
“but it’s your-”
“I can get more. It will be much more fun to gather with you now.” With those words from Lynn, Cove let the matter rest. He looked back down at the box and smiled, more to himself than to anyone else. He still felt really bad about his dad forgetting his birthday, but Lynn was there to make him feel better. She set up a surprise and got him the best gift ever. There was no way that he could ever thank her properly.
“Thank you Lynn.” That would have to do for now, but Cove would spend the rest of his life thanking them for always being there for him, for always waiting for him, and for being right by his side whenever he needed them. Lynn never had to do any of the things they did for him, but they did so willingly and without question. So, for that, it was a great first birthday in Sunset Bird.
[ if you’re wondering; Cove’s dad felt really awful about the whole thing and managed to get his son a great gift... which was why he’d been super busy lately. He’d wanted to get his son a fishtank and supplies. Noelani and Pamela gave him an earful though.. ]
Eddie if Zack/Someone killed Lucian :)?
.
Heh. Pain.
🤍
Eddie gazed at the water crystal blue water, smiling softly. Making graves earlier today had him in a good mood. Now that it was night, he managed to sneak out before Albert could come beat him and relaxed by the small stream that laid near his pet cemetery. Although he was supposed to be calm, something in his heart was tugging. Almost as if something was wrong, but he wasn't sure what. Something deep inside worried him.
"Ed...Eddie..."
Eddie's eyes widen as his head whips to the left of him. He heard a faint cry from further down the creek that sounded awfully like someone he knew. The feeling of dread he felt before was now coming a reality. He quickly stood up and rushed towards the voice, his eyes meeting with a sight he could have never imagined.
Lucian's bloody body laying on the luscious green grass, staining it with a crimson red. His pale skin seemed even paler underneath the moonlight. Of course, Eddie dropped to his knees and immediately helped him sit up, seeing blood pouring from his head. So much blood.
"L-LUCIAN!" Eddie cried, unwrapping his red scarf from around his neck and trying his best to stop the bleeding. His eyes swept down his entire body, seeing he was wounded practically everywhere with glass shards sticking from his limbs. Despite looking like a ghost, Lucian laughed softly with tears rolling down his cheeks. "L-Lucian! What happened?!"
"Am...Am I gonna...die, Eddie?"
Eddie's heart jumped to his throat. From the amount of blood he was losing...
"N-NO! SHUT UP, YOU'RE NOT GONNA DIE!"
Lucian laughed again, this time even weaker. "Marigold...my dear marigold..." he fell into Eddie's arms, holding him with all the strength he had left. "It's okay...I...I wanted...to come...here so that...you could bury me..." Eddie didn't know what to do. He was so shocked that he couldn't even move or think. Everything was going in slow motion. "...Y'know...I...I...always liked you...more than..."
"L-Lucian...! Please, no! Please...please, stop it! You're not gonna die! I-I-I won't l-let you!" Eddie let him go and rested him against the trunk of a tree, sobbing out of control. "N-No...no...!"
Lucian gazed deeply at the crying boy. He could feel the blood pouring from all of his wounds which made him dizzy, however, he was more concerned about those tears of his. He was sobbing even though he would be the one to bury his childhood friend. For a moment, it confused Lucian.
"Eddie...it's...it's okay..." He reaches for Eddie's cheek, stroking it with his pale fingertips. "You don't need to...cry like that...I don't wanna see you cry..." Lucian then gave him a gentle smile. It seemed different from all the ones Eddie had seen, it was so genuine without any fault or concern. Pure joy to spend his last moments with Eddie. "Because...I...love you..."
Eddie's heart began to race with excitement. A mutual love that will last forever, right? All he had to do is make him eternal and they could share that feeling together until the end of time! That's what he would've thought if it weren't for those wounds. If he didn't do it now, Lucian would be stolen from him. He would die by the hand of his mother. That's not what he wanted, not at all.
Now...
Now.
He has to do it now.
Lucian's eyes grew more hollow than ever, the life seeping out of him. Eddie stood up and lifted his shovel, panicking. The genuine grin Lucian made was turning to an unreadable expression.
He has to die now.
"Eddie..." Lucian's voice grew so weak that you could barely describe it as a whisper. Eddie's tears were continuously falling from his face into the flowerbed beneath them, staining their petals ever so slightly. "...does this mean...you love me...too...?"
"I-I do!" Eddie wept, his hands trembling more than ever before. He couldn't move from his standing position. In fact, he was so devastated that he could barely keep his balance. For some reason, he just wanted to hold Lucian close without having to do this. But he would become like that little bird if Eddie didn't kill him.
Lucian closes his eyes with a bigger smile. "I'm glad...hey, you know...you look...scared..." his breaths became shorter and shorter from the amount of blood he was losing. "My final moments...belong to you...and only you, Eddie...if you're afraid of...killing me then...you don't...have...to..."
"L-LUCIAN!" Eddie drops his shovel and launches himself into his arms. He cried into his blood stained shirt, his entire body shaking from the fear of being alone completely. Lucian kept his smile, wrapping his arms around Eddie and patting his head just as he used to do.
"...It's okay...it's okay..."
"STOP IT! NOTHING IS OKAY, PLEASE DON'T GO! I-I LOVE YOU, LUCIAN! I-I-I ALWAYS HAVE! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!"
"I-I love you t-too, Eddie..." Lucian choked, his tears mixing with Eddie's. No matter how he truly felt, he continued to smile for him.
"Lucian, please!" Eddie grabbed his shoulders and looked at him, seeing that smile. But...
He didn't see any life from him.
His body was limp as it rested on the tree trunk. No breathing, no heartbeat, nothing.
"Lucian..." Eddie's eyes were huge and his tears stopped. "Lucian...Lulu...? Hey..." his heart sunk further as Lucian's head rocked forward as Eddie shook him. No life whatsoever. The smile turned into a soft expression, looking as if he were only sleeping peacefully. Blood dripped down his forehead and onto Eddie, yet, no sign. "Hey...HEY! LUCIAN! LUCIAN, WAKE UP!”
But there was no reply.
“No…no…” Eddie held Lucian close, biting his tongue so hard that it began to bleed. He was trying to hard not to scream on the top of his lungs after all. Seeing his beaten body, he clenched his shirt into fists. “…Who did this to you…? Who…? Your mom…?” his voice fumed with anger. His chest felt tighter and tighter from being so enraged. His mind began to spin all in which had one solution.
. . .
“That’s it…” Eddie lifted Lucian into his arms, taking him to the meadow they used to play in as children. Flowers grew all around, little animals roaming, this is where he’d make Lucian happy. Then,
He’d do it better.
He’d make everything better.
Immediately getting to work, Eddie spoke to Lucian as he did before. As if he weren’t even dead. He told him every step he took to make this grave, what flowers he was going to pick, how bunnies and other small animals would roam around happily around the headstone. Overall, he overworked himself until his arms felt too heavy to even move. It needed sanded more, now it needed more detail, now it need more flowers, less flowers, the name should be fancier, the date needed to be more legible, over and over again. It had to be perfect. After all, he truly loved him. Ever since they were little kids. So…
He knew if he was gone…
“It’s done…” Eddie murmured, dropping his shovel and walking to his beloved. “…all done…” he then pulled Lucian into his arms and rested his head on his bloody chest. He still felt warm, but his blood was now drying onto his skin and clothes. Eddie didn’t want that. So, without a second thought, he stood up and walked to the stream, getting some water and rubbing the blood off of his body. He couldn’t get his clothes to be the way they were, but his pale skin was much clearer, as for his wounds as well.
Glass.
Eddie found glass in the gash on Lucian’s head, ultimately the cause of his death. Looking at the glass, he saw that it must have come from some sort of wine bottle. One huge smash to the head and poor Lucian bled out.
Eddie clenched his teeth. It must of been that rotten mother of his. Always intoxicated without a care in the world, it was her fault that Lucian died. All of her fault, all of it was!
“I’ll bury you now…” Eddie coaxed to him softly, giving him another hug. “then, you’ll be mine. I…love you, my dear Lucian.”
That being said, Eddie rested Lucian into the coffin he had hauled out from the shed, adjusting his hands to fold on his stomach and putting flowers in his white hair to cover the blood stains. He looked so elegant and beautiful, almost as if he was just sleeping. Slowly, Eddie grabbed the lid to seal him in before tearing up. This would be the last time to see him. Normally, he’d feel so overjoyed, but knowing how much pain he went through before dying just completely drowned him in sorrow. How terrible it was.
“I already miss you. I don’t think I can live without you..” Eddie whispers with a smile. “but I know I’ll see you again. I have no worries about that! I’ll see you…very soon.”
Pulling out his father’s revolver from with front pocket, Eddie puts the barrel up against his temple. “That’s right! I’ll see you right now! In our own grave, Lucian! Ours and ours alone! Isn’t it pretty?! ISN’T IT LOVELY?! HAHAHA, IT IS, ISN’T IT?! ALBERT, CARL, GEORGE, MOMMA, DAD, THEY’LL ALL FORGET ME! IT DOESN’T MATTER! AND SINCE I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH…! SINCE I COULDN’T MAKE YOUR DEATH BEAUTIFUL AND PEACEFUL, I SHOULD DIE TOO!”
And with that, Eddie pulled the trigger.
Chapter 4: Slice
Words: 2006
You had a hard time falling asleep that night, where you just wasted your time here. When you told your dad you wanted to become a doctor he was confused, saying maybe being a nurse was more up your alley, but he finally accepted the fact you would be going to school to become a doctor. He was even more excited to hear you were in the top 5 of your class and that things were coming easily to you.
But the tool of the same thing over and over again when you just wanted to get your hands in there already was boring you to death, once you got into residency it would just be more mundane boring stuff. Talking to people every day about their pollen allergies, even dermatologists took forever to get their degree. You were already a pro with a scalpel and stitching according to your teachers.
“It’s sad to see you wasting your potential.”
You punched your pillow in anger again, what right did he have, maybe you were only interested in him since he was the one who gave Akio his just deserts and he was the first one you could talk about your urge to use your quirk. Still, at the end of the day, he was a villain, he wasn’t going to come back huh, maybe it's for the best, just go back to where you were before, the sheer boredom of it all.
You couldn't stand that as you got out of bed, it was late but you put on some loungewear and headed out, you were not about to go back to living every day with mundane occurrences again. You kept looking around the campus for anything that would lead you to him. A few students were coming back from drinks and you kept walking only to see Akio letting a very intoxicated girl lean on his arm as he held up. You were pissed off now, not even a day out of the hospital and he is already back to his scumbag ways.
You followed the both of them and he was heading to the male dorm area, the girl was too drunk to even notice anything, you watched as he helped her up the stairs and you followed behind him as he closed the door. You went next to the door and put your nail against the lock before shooting your talon out breaking the lock, and you opened the door, and there was Akio on the couch with a passed-out girl.
“So this is helping a girl get home huh,” you said, and Akio head shot up
“You!?” he said getting up “This isn’t what it looks like, I was just.” “Going to take advantage of a drunk girl, the day after you got out of the hospital.” you said “I know your type, you act like a wuss to have girls let their guard down, how many people have been your victim.”
“Hey just calm down, I wasn't going to do anything,” he said
“Is that why your pants button is undone along with your zipper.” you said “You are the talk of the class right now, poor Akio getting attacked by a big bad villain, how much sympathy did this girl give you?” you asked letting your talons out
“I’m going to call the campus police.” He said
“Go ahead, wonder what the whole story will be when they see a drunk passed out girl on your couch,” you said
“What do you want?” Akio said
“Well I would like it if you left this school.” you said “But you won't do that, you won't curve your bad habit. you'd just end up doing this somewhere else”
“Stay back, I'm warning you.” He said, man, you really had him scared huh, you just want to get this girl out
“I really hate people like you,” you said walking over and picking up the girl who just kinda groaned.
Hawks was laying out on top of the building, maybe he had been a bit too hard on you earlier. Still, sometimes people need a wake-up call, he was twiddling Akio's wallet he stole, maybe it would be funny if Akio saw it returned like he was still being watched by him. Hawks stood off the end of the building and flew down to locate his dorm shouldn't be too hard, still, when he saw through his feathers the door was open he flew down to see Akio on top of you with his hands around your throat as you gashing on his sides for dear life, with a passed out girl in the doorway. Hawks was starting to see red or maybe it was just the feathers he sent on Akio pinning him to the wall by his clothes. You started to cough and tried to catch your breath.
“(name) what are you doing here,” Hawks asked taking off one of his Primary wings and it growing sharper
“Cough cough...it's a long story, he was going to assault that girl,” you said gesturing to the girl in the doorway
“Well I’ll ask later on how you got yourself into this situation, take the girl out I’ll handle him.” Hawks said, you nodded your head and picked the girl up and dragged her outside
“You..you know (name),” Akio said
“A bit, we meet when you attack her in the ally way.” Hawks said, “I thought I’d let you off with a warning but it seems like you didn't learn anything, and you tried to strangle her to death.”
“I wasn’t-”
“Shut up man, I know that look you had in your eyes, it's the one I have now.” Hawks said, “I'll make this quick.”
You dropped her off outside the female dorms, this is where your adventure for the night would end, you wondered what Hawks was going to do to Akio, you decided to head back, you knew that the handprints would be visible, lucky you had a couple of scarves. You sat down at a bench near the back of the school and let out a long breath before you heard a familiar gush of wind and someone landed behind you.
“Hey….so uhmm, your neck okay?” Hawks asked
“It's fine, I don't think anything has collapsed,” you said
“That's good, now can you tell me what happens?” Hawks asked looming over you
“I went out for a walk-”
“Late at night?”
“Yes, I couldn't sleep because of what you said earlier, ugh I must be mad for letting the words of a villain get to me.” “And I must be mad for saying that.” Hawks said, “Look (Name) I know you have something in you that drives you, but look you couldn't even defend yourself from one guy.” Hawks said, “If I didn't show up you would have died.”
“I know that.” you said “I wasn’t expecting to run into him doing that, I got so angry that someone would have been a victim, and no one was coming to help.”
“Well I'm just glad you didn’t die tonight.” he said flicking your forehead “Here hope on i'll fly you back to your dorm.”
“Hope into where?” you asked
“On my back in between my wings of course.” He said turning around and pointing to in between his shoulder blades
“I’m not so sure about this,” you said
“Come on I know you want to,” he said fluttering his wings
“No spins of loop de loops and you won't drop me either.” You said
“(name) if I wanted you dead I wouldn't just drop you and let you splatter on the ground, I have more class than that.” he said, which didn't help calm your nerves “Look I won't drop you either just hop on, it will be fun.”
Ah yes taking a joyride through the sky with a dangerous villain will be fun, still what else do you have to lose, so you decided to hope on
“This is weird,” you said
“Nah, now hold on.” he said, as he flew up and you wrapped your arms around his neck, shutting your eyes tight “ack (name) can't breath, look it isn't that scary see, hold onto my shoulder I won't let you fall.”
You reluctantly opened your eyes as you still had a firm hold around Hawks, the city lights looking more like fireflies now
“Wow so this is birds' eye view.” you said “But Hawks how are you flying if your wings aren't moving?”
“Haha well I move my fathers, I only really like to move them when I'm trying to get away, and I don't want you falling off.” He said, “also why there are no photos of my face anywhere, they don't have a camera that is fast enough.”
“Makes sense.” you said, “so Hawks why are you on the run anyway, you don't seem like the stereotypical villain.”
“Hahaha thanks, I guess?” Hawks said, “It's kind of a long story but to keep it short I don't want to work under some bureaucracy, I just want to relax and live my life, but at the same time, I can't help but see people in need and want to help them, but working under someone thumb isn’t for me.”
“I don't think I could see you working for someone either.” you said “Meanwhile what I'm going for, is that you are always going to be working under some.”
“Well, it's never too late to change your mind.” Hawks said as he landed in front of your dorm “Thank you for using the nighthawks delivery service.”
“Thanks, hawks, for everything,” you said
“Of course chickadee.” he said “Keep your head down low for the next couple of days though.”
And with that vague warning, he was off once again, oh how lucky he was to be able to fly off and be free whenever he wanted.
Still, all good things must come to an end as you saw police tape surrounding the boys' dorm, everyone was talking amongst themselves the next morning.
“What happened here?” you asked
“Someone was found dead in their dorm, they say it was break in.” Someone said
“Wonder why?” you said but you knew why, still you decided to just head to class but for some reason the door was locked, you rolled your eyes and checked your phone only to see a message that due to a tragedy on school ground class was canceled for the day, just great.MIght as well have a free day in your dorm then as the other students were watching Akio being pulled out in a body bag, Fumiko noticing your nonchalant to this and gulped.
You were enjoying some funny cat videos and enjoying a cup of tea when there was a knock on your door, just great wasn’t this support to be a free day. You got up and opened it to see Fumiko.
“(name) didn’t you hear about what happened.” She said
“I heard someone was found dead in their dorm room.” You said
“It was Akio (name), he is dead.” She said
“Okay and you are telling me this why?” you asked
“(name) even if you didn't like him, you should still care if he is dead.” She said
“Well I'm not,” you said
“You know (name) everyone in the class was telling me how cold and mean you were, and I thought they were wrong, I thought you were nice but I was wrong-”
“Oh can it Fumiko, you only talked to me because you felt bad for me is that right, you had no intention of being my friend, you just felt guilty of me being the weird person in the class, and mooched off my notes, now your shitty friend is dead.” You said and felt a harsh slap across your face “want me to turn the other cheek?”
“YOU ARE A HORRIBLE CRUEL HEARTLESS PERSON!” She said and ran off, oh well if that's what she thought no reason to try and change her mind.
Begin Again ~ Chapter 2
Summary: Walter Marshall is a dedicated homicide detective doing his best to balance his work life with being a single father to a teenage girl. Fiona Sparks is a woman doing her best to take care of everyone and everything around her, except for herself. Neither has had the best luck with relationships, but once they meet, they’re willing to give it another shot, this time with each other. (It’s basically just romantic fluff)
Pairing: Marshall and OFC.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mentions of death, cancer.
A/N - This is a sequel to ‘All I’ve Ever Known’. I started writing this because I needed an escape for some personal stuff going on and my coping mechanism included giving Marshall all the love that man needed, and imagining him being the softest boyfriend to me, then passing those details on to Fiona (my OFC).
I also made a Spotify playlist for this story, if anyone is interested - Begin Again Playlist
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter 7
I made it home just a little after five. Darcy and I had been on track to finish up at four with the prep on the next day’s order, but her nephew Nick decided he could do the last batch of bread for us. I wasn’t sure what he did wrong, but three of the five loaves came out burnt, and the other two were so misshapen that they were unusable for sandwiches. I stayed over to help Darcy bake replacements and even though I kept my eye on the clock, I couldn’t bear leaving her in a panic just because I had a date.
When I got to the house, I went to find Mom and let her know that I was going out. She was in the living room talking on the phone. I could tell that it was my aunt June because she was loud enough for me to hear, even with the phone to Mom’s ear. I didn’t want to interrupt her so I kissed her on the head, letting her know I was there, then went up to my room to change. Amidst the bread drama, I’d gotten covered in flour. I was halfway up the staircase when my phone rang. I pulled it out of my purse. It was Marshall.
“Hello,” I answered.
“Hey Fiona, it’s Walt. I’m leaving work right now. I should be there at half past five if you’re still up for dinner.”
“I am. I just got home myself so I’m going to get cleaned up and I’ll be ready when you get here.”
I could hear a door shut and it sounded like he was getting into his truck. “Do you want to try for Italian again or put it on the back burner for the moment?”
“Back burner, if you don’t mind,” I said, reaching the top of the stairs.
“I don’t. Maybe we can try for it again if…” He paused.
“If you don’t get bored with me before then?” I joked.
He laughed, making my heart pound in a lovely way. “I can’t imagine getting bored with you,” he said. “I was actually thinking if you didn’t get tired of me.”
I smiled. “We both clearly have poor insight into how we view one another.” I opened the door to my room. “I can’t see how I would ever get tired of you when talking to you keeps me from getting tired of everything else right now. You make it so much more manageable just by existing in my life.” He was quiet and panic crept up again. “Sorry, that was a lot to put on you. I didn’t mean -”
“No, that was...I feel the same.”
“You do?”
I heard him huff out a short laugh. “You made me excited to stay at my desk and do paperwork, so...yeah.”
“Good, because I -” I screwed my eyes shut and took a deep breath. “I really like you, Walter.”
There was another moment of silence and I tried not to panic that time, but I couldn’t help how my heart pounded.
“I really like you, too, Fi,” he eventually said, his voice soft.
After changing and cleaning up, I went back downstairs on another search for Mom. I could hear her talking and thought she was still on the phone until I heard a very distinctive, very loud, laugh, and knew that in the twenty minutes since getting home, my aunt June had come over.
I went to the kitchen where I could hear them and stood in the doorway for a moment. They were cooking. “Are the two of you up to any good?” I joked.
“Not in the slightest,” Mom said with a laugh. It died in her throat as she looked over at me. “Are you leaving?”
“Yeah, I am. I was going to tell you earlier, but you were on the phone.”
“You’re not going back to work, surely. Darcy can’t ask you to stay over and then have you come back in. Her nephew is the one who made the mistake; not you.”
I shook my head. “It’s not Darcy.”
“It must be a hot date then,” June teased, laughing.
She’d obviously meant it as a joke. I hadn’t even so much as entertained the idea of dating since Dad died. That was tragic enough, but added to it was my ex-boyfriend Ezra breaking up with me right after I’d found out about Dad’s accident and the desire to jump back into that fire had been long gone. But Mom took one look at me and she knew. The irritation she’d worn thinking I was going back to work melted from her face as she smiled at me.
“Did he ask you out again?” she asked me quietly.
I nodded. “Today when I made my delivery. We’re getting dinner.”
“I’m happy for you, Bird.”
June stopped stirring what looked like red sauce and turned towards me, wooden spoon still in hand. The movement was so sudden it slung a trail of sauce in its wake, looking like blood splatters. “You’re actually going on a date?” she asked, her voice jumping octaves seemingly with each word.
I knew my aunt well enough to know that I had to give her a few choice pieces of information if I ever wanted to escape that kitchen without her trailing after me to sneak a peek at Marshall.
“I am going on a date. It’s someone I just started talking to recently. It’s nothing serious,” I said. “But he’s getting off work early today and asked if I wanted to get dinner.”
“What does he look like?” June asked. “Is he better looking than that weaselly boy you used to date?”
“He’s far better looking than Ezra,” Mom said. “Very handsome.”
“And way more of a gentleman,” I said.
June finally turned back to her sauce, stirring it again. “Well, that’s not much of a competition, honey. A brick wall would be considered more of a gentleman.”
Mom and I both laughed. The doorbell rang, interrupting us. I looked at her and she smiled. “Go have fun, Fi.”
“I will.” I walked over to her and kissed her head. “Love you,” I said, then told her and June bye.
As I left the kitchen, I found myself half jogging to the front door, eager to open it. I took a deep breath before I did, trying to keep from looking childishly excited to see Marshall, but I don’t think it worked. When I opened the door and saw him standing there, his back straight, his hands clasped behind him, like he was standing at attention, like waiting for me was something to be done respectfully, I couldn’t help the automatic grin that took over my face.
“Hi,” I said.
It was like that was his cue to go ‘at ease’. His hands fell to his side as he returned my smile. “Hi,” he said back. “Are you ready?”
I nodded. He stepped aside as I left the house. When we turned and began walking down the path, he gently placed his hand on the small of my back. Even through my coat and sweater, I could feel the heat of his hand. I let myself drift closer to him, up against his side, and his hand shifted slightly, resting right above my hip. My heart soared at the tender act.
When we reached his truck, he kept his arm around me and opened my door with his free hand. I stepped away to climb into his truck but surprised even myself when I spun around on my heel and reached out with both hands to hold his face, and pressed a soft, quick kiss to his lips. When I pulled back, I covered my mouth, shocked by my boldness.
“I’m sorry. It just sort of...slipped out,” I said, a small laugh escaping my throat.
He smiled wide, teeth and dimples showing. He softly took hold of my wrist and lowered my hand from my mouth. “Feel free to let it slip out as often as you want,” he said, his voice gently teasing me as he brought his mouth closer to mine.
We kissed again, both of us laughing as the kiss became all teeth, our lips spread too wide into smiles to make much contact. It ended quickly and I let my forehead fall to his shoulder, still laughing. He kissed the top of my head.
“We’ll keep practicing,” he said, his laugh a glorious rumble in his chest.
“I think that’s a good idea.” I looked back up at him and the smirk he had on his face made me laugh again.
“What?” he asked.
“I don’t know. You’re…” I shook my head, trying to find the right words. I couldn’t, so I just blurted out my thoughts. “You’re the most attractive man I’ve ever met and it blows my mind that you want to kiss me.”
He traced his thumb over my bottom lip. “I do want to kiss you,” he whispered, replacing his thumb with his lips. “And I want to take you to dinner.” He kissed the corner of my mouth. “And hold your hand.” He kissed my cheek. “And spend time with you.” He brushed my hair back from my ear before nuzzling into it. “And get to know you as much as I can.”
My knees felt like putty, weakening under the weight of his words. I had to hold on to his shoulders to steady myself. I could feel the pounding of my heart beating in my ears, the blood rushing fast as it beat hard enough that I wondered if Walter could feel it as he stood closer to me. I felt dizzy and borderline high from him.
I kept one hand on his shoulder and moved the other, placing it on his cheek. I ran my fingers through his beard, then down to the line of his jaw, skimming them over to his chin. I used my hold there to turn his face towards me. “That’s exactly what I want, too.”
He smiled and leaned forward slightly, not trying to rid himself of my grasp, and placed a soft kiss on the bridge of my nose. “Then we’re on the same page, Miss Sparks.”
I giggled despite myself. “Yes, we are, Detective Marshall.”
Walter and I went to a place called Hungry Vintage. “I used to come here all the time. Especially in the summer,” I said as he pulled my chair out for me. I thanked him as I sat. He sat across from me and I pointed out the window, even though it was too dark to see anything. “My apartment was just a block and a half away, so I’d walk here a few times a week.”
“You moved after your father died, yeah? So your mum wasn’t alone.”
I nodded. “Yeah. She’d never lived on her own before and didn’t think she could do it in their house. I had a few months left on my lease but I had a really great landlord. I explained everything to him and he let me out of it early,” I said. “It ended up being a good move, though, because my old job let me go a couple of months later. I wouldn’t have been able to afford it on my salary at Waverly.”
“Where did you work before that?”
“Regency Interior Design. I interned with them in college and they offered me a job as soon as I graduated,” I said. “Dad always told me that I was lucky, that that didn’t happen for everyone, but I didn’t realize what he meant until I tried to get a position at another design firm after Regency.” I shook my head. “It was nearly impossible to even get an interview.”
He looked a little embarrassed as he asked, “What do interior designers do, exactly? Do you decorate, or…?”
I laughed. “Yeah, some decorating. I mainly worked with clients who were flipping houses, so I would help them figure out how to redesign a room so that it served the space better, but still stayed within building code regulations. Then I’d help them source materials and when construction was done, I’d help them paint and furnish everything to make sure the house was cohesive. It could be tiring, especially when clients were pressuring me to work faster, but it was fun, too,” I said. “I like the routine and predictability in my current job, but I miss being creative.”
He tilted his head slightly, pressing his lips together in a thin line. “Would you -” He stopped and shook his head. “Never mind.”
“No, I want to know,” I said. “Would I what?”
He played with a salt shaker on the table almost nervously. “Would you ever consider taking on a private client?” he asked, not making eye contact.
I smiled. “Do you know someone who might be in the market for one?”
He chewed the side of his mouth for a moment. “My house, it’s functional, that’s all. I sleep, shower, and eat there. Not much else, so how it looks doesn’t bother me,” he said. “But Faye’s room… She deserves something nice, you know?”
“Do you want it to be a surprise?”
He looked at me, then nodded. “Her birthday is in the middle of next month. Would that be enough time?”
“Do you only want it redecorated and furnished more? No construction?”
He laughed slightly. “As much as she’d probably like me to knock a wall down to make her room bigger, I don’t have the space to do it,” he said. “So yeah; no construction.”
“If that’s all, then I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be done by her birthday,” I said. “Do you have a picture of her room?”
He shook his head. “No. Do I need one?”
“Not right now, but when you get the chance to take one, you can send it to me. Just so I can get an idea of what it’s like.”
“Would it be better if you saw it in person?”
“Honestly? Yes. But I didn’t want to invite myself over,” I said.
“Then I’ll invite you,” he said. “How about Saturday? I could pick you up. You could take a look at her room and give me an estimate, and then I could cook for you.”
I raised my eyebrow at him. “An estimate? Like for what I think you should buy for the room?” I asked. “I would help you with ideas, but I’d let you decide the budget and work with what you can spend. It honestly doesn’t have to cost a lot.”
“I mean for your fee. Or do you have a set price that you charge clients?”
“Walter, I’m not going to charge you. I’m more than happy to do it for Faye. I think it’s sweet that you want her to have a nice room.”
He looked guilty. “I didn’t ask you so you’d do it for free.”
I smiled. “I know. That’s why I don’t mind doing it,” I said. “Besides, you said you were going to cook for me, so that can be your payment.”
His face became soft, his eyes giving me a puppy dog look. I was weak for it. “If that’s the only payment you’ll accept, then maybe I’ll plan on cooking for you every week until it’s finished.”
My smile grew. “Well, if you’re a good cook, I just might accept that offer.”
He leaned in towards me over the table and smirked. “And if I’m not a good cook?”
“I might heavily suggest takeout. I’m quite fond of Chinese food.”
He nodded, his smirk turning into a full smile. “Noted.”
After dinner, Marshall and I drove around town for about an hour, not wanting the night to end, but eventually it had to. We both had work in the morning. When he drove me home, it was the first time since moving back in with Mom that I wished I still had my own place. I wanted nothing more than to ask him in but that was off the table while Mom was there. Not to mention my aunt June, who, judging from her car, was still visiting.
He parked on the street in front of my house and I took advantage of what small bit of privacy we had in his truck. He was holding my hand, and with my free one, I took my fingers and lightly traced over his knuckles, then gently brushed over the top of his hand. When I reached his wrist, the movements turned into a light scratching as I ran my fingers up and down the part of his forearm that was exposed. I didn’t know what I was doing, just that I wanted to touch him. Goosebumps raised on his skin, something I wasn’t sure he experienced much with the heat he gave off, and when I looked up at him, I knew that he didn’t care what I was doing, just that I was doing it.
His other hand came up quickly, going straight to the base of my neck. He was gentle, even in his urgency, guiding my face towards his, kissing me. I clutched at his sleeve, feeling like I needed something to hold on to. He wasn’t rough but his kisses weren’t the soft ones we’d shared previously. Eventually, I grew bold enough and moved my hand from his sleeve to the back of his head, burying my fingers in his soft curls.
Each press of his lips seemed to erase all ability to think, until the only rational, fully formed thought left in my mind was that I wanted to spend the rest of my time on earth kissing this man.
When he finally pulled away, I was left feeling like I was drunk for the first time: Warm, slightly dizzy, and giddy. It took me a long moment to compose myself. He pressed his forehead to mine, our noses touching, our mouths mere centimetres from each other’s, passing breath back and forth as we tried to catch our own.
I couldn’t imagine a time where kissing him didn’t make me feel some kind of way.
“I think our practice is starting to pay off,” I joked. “That wasn’t half bad.”
He laughed. “No, it wasn’t.” He kissed my lips again softly, then my nose, then my forehead, letting his lips linger for a moment. I let out a contented sigh and felt his lips smiling against my skin. “But perhaps we should keep practicing, hm?”
I smiled as I looked up at him. “I think that would be best,” I said. “Maybe we can fit it in on Saturday?”
He nodded. “I’ll try to work it into the schedule.” He moved his hand, his fingers brushing along my throat as he did. “What time would work for you?”
I let my own hand drift from the back of his head, down to the nape of his neck. I scratched lightly at his scalp. He closed his eyes and leaned back into it. I rewarded him with a few more scratches. It was his turn to sigh happily and I filed that info away in my mind for later.
“Anytime works for me,” I said, removing my hand and placing it in my lap. He opened his eyes and again and looked more relaxed than I’d ever seen him. I couldn’t hold back my smile. “Maybe...maybe a little early? In case it takes a while with Faye’s room?”
He nodded. “What about four? Or is that too early?”
I smiled wider. “You could suggest six in the morning and I’d be up for it,” I said. “So no; four isn’t too early.”
“Then I’ll be here at six a.m.,” he joked. “I’ll bring you coffee. You like creamer but no sugar, right?”
“Yes. You have an excellent memory, Detective.”
“Only when it’s worth remembering,” he said. He adjusted himself in his seat to better face me. “But you’re really okay with that time for Saturday?”
“I really am. I’ll bring all of my stuff over. You can help me measure everything and then I can use one of my design programs to make up a few different options. Whichever one you pick, I’ll help you figure out how to get it all done.”
“Thank you.” He raised my hand that he was still holding and brought it to his mouth. He kissed it, warm and gentle. My heart continued to melt for him. “Would you let me walk you to the door?”
I nodded. “Of course.”
He got out of the truck and came around to open my door for me. When we were standing side by side, he reached for my hand, lacing his fingers through mine. As we began walking towards the house, I held onto his bicep, leaning my head on his shoulder, tucking myself as close to him as I could. If I’d had any doubt over whether he was comfortable with that much touch, it was squashed instantly when he slowed down, taking his time in getting me to the door.
I hesitated to let my feet touch the doormat, feeling like that was the final step before he left. I wanted to hold on to him longer. So that’s where I stopped. He seemed to sense my hesitancy, or maybe he shared it because as we stopped, he turned towards me and ran a hand over my hair, his thumb finding my cheek and stroking it lightly. I let go of his hand and wrapped both of my arms around him. He stepped into my embrace, one arm locked around my waist, the other around my shoulders. I buried my face in his neck and fought the strange desire to cry. I’d suspected early on that Marshall would be a good hugger - he just seemed too much like a teddy bear not to be - but I hadn’t anticipated the overwhelming feeling of safety that his arms would hold. I found myself squeezing my eyes shut tight and clinging to that feeling with all I had. It took a few moments for me to realize that I wasn’t just clinging to the feeling; I was clinging to him. I felt embarrassed and loosened my hold on him, but I felt his hand come up to cradle the back of my head. I felt his lips pressing on my temple.
I knew at that moment that this man was going to ruin all other men for me. And there was nothing else I wanted more.
We separated slowly, one touch at a time. My hands moved from the broad plain of his shoulders, down his back, then, as I took a step backward, they rested on his sides. His hand that had been cradling my head gently smoothed over my hair, ghosting over my shoulder, then rested at his side. His arm holding my waist moved, his hand going to my hip. Like earlier that evening, I could feel the heat radiating through the layers of fabric. I inhaled his scent before moving my face from the crook of his neck. I caught his eye, noticing him watching me, as I moved my head back to look up at him.
“Thank you for coming out with me tonight,” he said. “I really enjoyed it.”
“I did, too,” I said. “You’re doing a pretty good job of making Wednesday my favorite day, you know? Between seeing you on my deliveries, and coffee dates, and dinner dates, even the weekend is losing the competition.”
His eyes were bright and smiling. “So does that mean I have to work extra hard Saturday to impress you?”
“No. I’m already impressed by you.”
He smiled, then raised his free hand and took my chin between his thumb and forefinger gently, lifting my face, then gave me a soft, chaste kiss that made my heart skip a beat and my toes curl in my boots.
“Goodnight, Fi,” he whispered against my lips.
“Goodnight, Walter.”
He took a step back. He was still close but no longer touching me. I had to suppress a whine and the urge to burrow into him for the rest of the night, or my life. I’d never missed someone standing right in front of me before, but there I was.
“Can I call you tomorrow?” he asked.
“Absolutely. Yes.”
“Good.” He rubbed his neck, his eyes drifting away from me towards his truck for a moment. When he looked back at me, there was a sense of shyness on his face. Something about it made him seem impossibly boyish. “I don’t…” He paused. “I don’t know if I could wait until Saturday to talk to you again.”
My arms automatically crossed over my stomach, hugging myself, like I was trying to hold back the multitude of butterflies I felt trying to take flight. “You don’t have to wait, and you don’t have to ask. I would love for you to call whenever you want,” I said. “Because I think waiting would be hard for me, too.”
He nodded, taking another step back. “Then I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
“I’m looking forward to it.”
He took a few more steps back, looking at me for a moment longer, before finally turning and walking away. I stood, watching him until he got into his truck. The interior light lit up the cab and I could see him. He waved at me. I waved back, then, with a heavy sigh, went inside.
I closed the door and pressed my back against it. I could hear my mom and aunt talking, but it all sounded like white noise. I placed a hand over my heart, feeling how it pounded. My veins felt like electricity was running through them. My whole body was buzzing. Walter Marshall was under my skin, and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
'Depends on the Wagon' liveblog!
I saw someone do timestamps in their liveblog and it was absolutely lovely, so I think I'll try that too
1:55 why does Curtain sound like an mlm ceo LMAO
2:07 WOW ASSHOLE 😂😂 waving off your own teacher when he was complimenting you is not the vibe
2:17 so Dr. Curtian is only available through chain emails. Got it.
2:27 he seems like the kind of asshole to say that people on welfare are lazy and exploitave but then like, not pay his taxes
2:42 I DON'T LIKE HOW HE SAID THAT, THAT WAS CREEPY
2:47 oooooh Constance, always asking the right questions
3:05 Kate, why are you yelling, it's literally past curfew 😂
3:35 oh hai Jackson.. gtfo
4:22 oh yeah, the best way out is through the hallway that Jackson just entered. Good plane, babe.
4:25 soooo Kate Depending On Friends arc :)
4:59 AYYY HI RHONDA!!
5:13 why do I kinda fucking love then all deciphering the Morse code together
5:20 so the kids use the gemini riddle? Not the adults???
5:36 his face when he figures it out 😭😭😭
5:46 Nathaniel? Guess that's Dr. Curtain's name now. Less ridiculous than Ledroptha, but you dont get the badass Let Drop the Curtain reference
6:53 okay so no one knew he had a brother? But he did???
7:21 his faaaace 🥺
7:29 AWWW HE COULDNT BRING HIMSELF TO SHARE 😭😭😭 okay I'm kinda on board with the change if they can make it work in the long-haul
7:42 hi Milligan, good timing 😂
7:56 "not the time.........I'll take a dozen" Number Two my LOVE
8:23 interesting. I dont think Mr. Benedict was adopted in the books? He certainly didn't let Violet's family, the Hopefields, because he knew their financial troubles would be even worse. So who?
8:54 ohhhh dear, stages of grief at work. Maybe don't do that
9:05 I talked about this in the MBS discord server, but I think the show is really nailing Mr. Benedict's feelings. He's always been an emotional person, but he has to be so careful. Bottling up your feelings only leads to bigger feelings later. It makes so much sense for Mr. Benedict to be a whirlpool of strong, repressed emotions.
9:11 MILLIGAN'S FACE JAHAHS
9:34 RHONDA'S FACE HAGSKDGDJ
9:40 Mr. Benedict, sweetheart 🥺❤
10:01 "brothers stick together" why does it sound like he's talking about Reynie here 😭😭😭😭
10:12 that is a good ass point, Mr. Benedict already lied to them once
10:21 it makes sense for Sticky to be the one questioning the most because of his anxiety, but damn
10:46 AWWWWWW
10:56 KATE MAKING A BED FORT KATE MAKING A BED FORT KATE MAKING A BED FORT
11:00 I dont like how aggressive Kate is but it makes sense considering she's been in the circus for years, taking care of herself for far longer than she hasn't. She's not good at depending on people, and she's not good with difficult people.
11:10 Yeahh, Constance gets it!
11:40 Yeahhh, Constance gets it
12:55 that teacher seemed pretty nice last episode, nice to see that they're not what they seem just the same as Dr. Curtain lol
13:28 CONSTANCE I LOVE YOU 😂😂
14:00 "check again" okay so Krista from the tests and Martina give off the same vibe.. perfect 😂
14:16 "yeah......hang in there :D"
15:05 all of the apologies to the general class.. he's such an anxious sweetheart. He's really reading as autistic to me.
My sister just called me 😑 it's like 8 am, I answered her like "did you ever consider that you might be waking me up?" She did not consider that 😂
15:22 Martina's face just growing more and more annoyed and disgruntled HAHA
15:29 that was CORRECT?? WHAAAA
15:51 throwback to when I compared Dr. Curtain to an mlm ceo.. definitely like a cult
16:44 ohhhh Martina
17:30 CONSTANCE HEARING VOICES HELLOOOOO
18:22 ayyyyyy helper man
18:40 he seems too cheery to be a helper .-. The helpers all being super sad made [redacted]'s story make a whole lot more sense
19:35 aaaand now we get to it. You know, it really does seem a lot more cultish on screen than in the book
19:53 WAIT CONSTANCE GOOD JOB PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER 😂😂😂😂
19:53 that cut to Milligan making that exact face was INCREDIBLE
20:05 was he tryna leave? Yeah, good fuckin luck bucko
20:10 "critical papers at home" my ass, they packed everything up
20:24 the stages of grief back at it. 🥺
20:38 their relationship >>>>
21:00 "located in the..?" *description of envelope* "located in the....?" *more description* "located in the????" 😂😂😂😂
21:34 ohhhhh Thursday must be the student ranking day
21:56 Martina seems like the kind to throw out "pick a god and pray" as a crit quote 😂
22:07 I don't see any of the Society'a names on the list. Maybe they havent been there long enough
22:17 OH SHIT JK THERE THEY ARE
22:25 ohh Kate and Constance
22:55 the combination of the ferry horn and the bell makes it weirdly grim
23:55 them bringing Kate up and reminding her that she's needed 😌✨
24:29 hi Milligan bb ilyyyy
24:35 real good lookout guys, y'all are so well hidden
24:52 AYY HE'S DOING IT KATE STYLE
26:31 "visionary" is a word for it
26:31 I really kinda love that Number Two and Rhonda are going to such depths to try and help Mr. Benedict figure this out for sure
26:56 Mr. Benedict fully walking away while they talk about his brothers accomplishments 😂 I'm laughing, but poor guy
27:08 his FACE 🥺
27:28 HERE'S THAT TANTRUM FROM THE TRAILER
27:28 take your guesses how many times will he fall asleep
27:50 "he just has to work through some things" you dont fuckin say
27:55 you mean to tell me he had a full blown meltdown and they didn't show him falling asleep once??
28:35 like father like daughter 😌✨
29:10 ayyyy secret desk compartment
29:19 honestly I'm surprised there were actually papers he needed and it wasnt an excuse to go confront Dr. Curtain
29:32 oh shit, how'd they manage to get that far inside? No one was there to guard it, but the maze itself is a security measure
29:42 KATE STYLE STRIKES AGAIN
29:47 ooooh I like Dr. Curtain's office
30:01 WAS THAT SQ AND DID HE JUST CALL DR. CURTAIN HIS DAD
30:41 birds have careers. Got it 😂
30:50 JOURNAAAL
31:02 the fox?? Reynard the fox???
31:27 ohhh here we go, Dr. Curtain sees himself in Reynie only to resent it later
31:37 Mr. Benedict called Reynie a leader once too.. the parallels have ✨begun✨
32:12 is this the "keep your enemies close" conversation??
32:15 I'm honestly surprised he called him Sticky and not George
32:42 IT IS SQ IT IS SQ IT IS SQ
32:59 sooo that starts by not letting his caution down with you
33:11 Dr. Curtain congratulating himself mid-conversation on saying something deep is so in character
33:20 "I was betrayed by someone very close to me" so that was Mr. Benedict. Who the fuck else would it be
33:23 WHAT DID I SAAAAY
33:31 oh noooo Reynie starts doubting Mr. Benedict here? Is that the move?
33:43 that transition was so pretty stoppp
33:53 again how hasn't he fallen asleep
34:55 ayyyy journal snooping
35:05 Constance, my love, you are cut throat
35:11 Milligan is in the DRYWALL? ohh buddy be careful
35:21 omfg are they talking about water polo 😂 I love that that's the sport of choice
35:51 ayyyy they put the Milligan dots together too. Shame the guy's not with them rn
36:36 so Mr. Benedict brings up cheating first? I really like how we get to see the adults riddling out what to send back, we didn't get that at all in the books
37:46 I LOVE THAT THEY KEPT "don't get caught"
38:51 Kate riddling out the island schematics engineer style is so like her
39:07 they're just walking out the door?? Huh???
39:29 babe... turn off your flashlight
39:33 AND THAT'S WHY
39:58 is that the precursor to chuckroot?
40:38 the papers were from his orphanage 🥺🥺🥺
41:14 why does that break my heart
41:19 Dr. Curtain and SQ doing shit together it just.. so heartwarming
42:00 HAHA
42:16 okay, so show!Curtain is a kissass 😂
42:35 wait wait wait so Dr. Curtain is actively trying to contain his brother? That would explain why the Recruiters were looking for him and weirdly not the kids
43:25 "power wants to be free" sounds more like a personal mantra than a conversation between engineers
43:41 YES A LETTER TO MISS PERUMAL
44:02 more voices. Poor Connie girl 🥺
44:36 he loves her so much 😭😭😭
44:45 SHE TRIED TO SEND HIM A CARE PACKAGE
45:13 WORRIED MOM TIMEEE
The Prince and the Pauper (that drives an Uber) Ch. 2
Part One | Two | Three | Four
Prince Steve paid for the hotel—he wanted one with neon lights, ideally a blinking palm tree, for some reason, until Billy explained you couldn’t order food. In the face of a royal pout, he offered to pick up pizza, and Steve studied the menu on his phone before ordering five pizzas, deleting them, and yanking Billy closer to consult.
Billy watched him scroll through, and leaned closer. “I could tell you all the reasons you don’t want to stay in the cheapest motel,” he whispered, pressing a kiss to Steve’s ear to make him duck his head in a grin, “—but...I’ve never stayed in a nice hotel.”
“Ohhhh,” Steve trailed off, then pulled him into a soft kiss. “You should—you should definitely get to, I’ll take you somewhere nice.”
Billy breathed a sigh of relief, remembering driving back from his dad’s place, Max silent as he got a motel room and brushed rat droppings off the pillowcases. The sticky carpet had adhered to their shoes, making a crisp tape-like noise when he returned with sandwiches, and realized Max had gotten him out of the way so she could cry in the bathroom. He had tiptoed out, walked around the block, and come in again.
The idea of taking a prince to a motel with foot-long wads of hair and crud whipping wildly from the front of the AC units, or pipes so rusted out the water looked like old blood...was a great idea for a horror movie, he thought, imagining the cursive, loopy pastel font of the movie he was currently in. I want a romcom, he admitted to himself, watching Steve flick the pizzas away to frown at tourist guide listings.
“The nicest,” said Steve, scrolling through search results. “Hot tub?”
“I’d probably be impressed anyway,” Billy told him, staring at the pictures of penthouse suites. “That’s so much money, no!”
Steve grinned at him. “Their security is best. Technically I am a target of assassination attempts—”
“Technically?! What happened?!” Billy choked, his hands tightening on Steve’s arm without his permission, like he was going to prevent...something. Steve blowing away in the wind, maybe, or someone shoplifting him. This was what the money was for, he reminded himself, resisting the urge to laugh hysterically—he had driver duties now, and one of them was to hang onto his prince’s hand like a helpless moron.
Steve grimaced. “It’s been years. And I was in the car with an archbishop—”
“What happened,” Billy said, and Steve grimaced, hunching his shoulders.
“A...car...bomb?”
Billy didn’t even think, he just yanked the other full-grown man in the car towards him, squeezing his muscular shoulders until Steve banged into the the gearshift. “Jesus christ on a cracker,” Billy whispered.
Steve was muttering something else in a language Billy didn’t know, swearing and rubbing his hip, and Billy let him go.
“Shit, shit, I’m sorry,” Billy apologized. “Sorry.”
“I don’t think I was the target,” Steve laughed, reaching over to pull Billy’s face close enough to kiss his cheek, while Billy’s head played a unhelpful recording of every movie explosion he’d ever seen, burning tires spinning away, and people trapped in crushed metal as the gas pooled near the flames. “I was greeting a black archbishop from Zimbabwe,” Steve said casually. “There were nazis—” he flapped his hand.
Billy made some kind of weird noise in his throat, cleared it, and said “Give me the fucking directions, we’re getting you to a fucking hotel.”
“A nice one,” Steve laughed, checking his phone. “We can get dinner.”
“Is that the only time somebody tried to kill you?” Billy asked, staring at the phone and repeating the address in his head, as a mantra.
Steve winced, opening his mouth, then biting his lips. “Uhhhh...noooooo?” he trailed off, and Billy smacked randomly at the passenger seat, unwilling to take his eyes from the road. He connected with something, soft hoodie over muscle, and Steve laughed, pushing his hand away. “Um. I…”
“You are a shitty liar,” Billy told the prince in his passenger seat.
“Maybe don’t google me,” Steve said, grimacing, and Billy gunned the motor to get through the yellow light. “Why,” Billy hissed. “Did your family get gunned down behind a theater? Are you the goddamn Batman?”
“What?” Steve snorted. “No? Aneurysm.”
“Holy shit, jesus christ,” Billy said, clenching the steering wheel. “Fuck, I was kidding, goddamn.”
“Just my mom,” Steve shrugged, as Billy shot him a disbelieving glance. “It’s fine, I don’t even remember her, I was just two—”
“Oh my god,” Billy choked out. “I’m so fucking sorry, holy crap.”
“She was a beautiful princess?” Steve said brightly, laughing at Billy’s enraged muttering. “My dad didn’t take royal title when he married her—he didn’t want to quit his job—so everybody joked that if he’d been a prince, he could’ve woken her up with a kiss. If only he thought ahead, right?”
“That’s horrible,” Billy whispered. “That’s so fucked up.”
“It’s a little funny,” Steve said, shrugging, and Billy groaned, pulling into the parking lot under the hotel.
Steve was watching out the window, his brain probably somewhere else entirely, when Billy pulled up to the window and accepted the paper ticket. “Oh, wait,” Steve said, as Billy pulled around to look for a parking space. “Did you have to pay? I never have to pay, I forgot—”
“Poor little rich boy,” Billy muttered. “Nah, I’ll pay on my way out.”
“Mmn,” Steve said, sighing. “Okay.”
“Sorry I said stupid shit about your parents,” Billy told him, grimacing as Steve got out of the car and wandered away to frown around the parking garage before smiling, waving back at Billy, and pointing triumphantly to the stairs. Billy started to follow, then remembered there was an entire goddamn crown rolling around in his backseat, and climbed over to stretch for it, and wrap the thing up in Steve’s discarded starchy white wedding jacket. “Jesus,” Billy sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, and getting out. “Sorry, again,” he said again, trotting up, and Steve shrugged.
“How nice? You want the honeymoon suite, or—”
“I just don’t wanna wake up to a crack-smoking rat sucking my dick,” Billy told him, eyes narrowed. “You can get STDs from the sheets in some of those motels.”
Steve blinked, staring at him, his mouth twitching. “That’s...vivid,” he said, biting back a snicker. “What do you think? I think I deserve a honeymoon suite,” he said thoughtfully.
You deserve anything you want, Billy didn’t say, or I love you. He cleared his throat. “Sure. What’s that do? You get wine or something?” He wasn’t, strictly speaking, supposed to drink on work nights, but Max would understand. Probably. Billy ran his fingers through his curls, making a face.
“This one sounds like it’s breakfast in bed for two—”
“I’m onboard—” Billy cut in immediately, and Steve laughed.
“—they put rose petals on the bed, I guess?”
“Only fair,” Billy nodded, leaning his head on Steve’s shoulder to look at the pictures. “Princes probably need some flowers to feel right. Few woodland animals, maybe.”
“...you saying I should sing at the birds on the balcony?”
“Yeah, charm some pigeons,” Billy nodded. “Tell ‘em you got good and laid on your honeymoon.”
The lady behind the hotel desk didn’t realize they were together, and tried to step between them to take Steve to his room, but she apologized profusely when Steve grabbed Billy’s hand.
Once they got there, Billy stood staring at the glass shower in the middle of the room. “...I feel like a creep just standing here,” he said, frowning.
Steve snickered, pulling the hoodie off over his head. Billy watched him fold it and sit it on a chair, and missed it already—Prince Steve, cozy in Billy’s faded hoodie, smelling like laundry soap. Steve pulled the shirt off too, and then Billy wasn’t thinking about anything but skin.
Billy peeled out of his shirt, and swaggered closer to lift Steve’s chin for a kiss.
“Mmn,” Steve hummed into it, then pulled away, sprawling back across the bed. He propped himself up on his elbows to rake his gaze up and down Billy’s body.
“Surveying the goods?” Billy asked, flexing, and resisting the urge to cover the slight softness of his stomach, come from nights eating in the car between fares instead of hitting the gym, and evenings with Max eating ice cream and watching stupid TV.
“Never done this before,” Steve said, off-handedly, and Billy folded his arms on reflex, feeling his smile turn a little mean.
“Never what,” he laughed. “Never fucked a guy? Or a what, a servant? Never been this bored?”
“Jesus,” Steve sat up again, brows scrunched over uncertain brown eyes. “You want to stop? We can—”
“No, no,” Billy took a slow breath, imagining his therapist’s voice. Listen to what people actually say, she’d said. “Sorry. I—I’m—you’ve never done what. Exactly.”
“Any of this,” Steve said, pulling his legs up on the bed.
He was scrunching himself up, Billy realized, pulling his limbs in to protect his tender underbelly, and Billy forced himself forward and put his hands on either side of Steve’s hot, slightly stubbly face. “Hey, hey, you’re all...pillbugged up. Uh...nobody knows you’re gay?” he asked the prince, in the honeymoon suite, trying to be...gentle.
“I’m not,” Steve said, scooting back against the headboard, and Billy jerked his hands back.
“Well, I’m glad I helped you get that straight,” he shot back, scrambling off the bed and yanking his pants off the floor.
“Wait, wait, Billy—” Steve crawled after him, swinging his legs down, and Billy stopped, registering his prince was so hard he was leaking, his dick rubbing shiny streaks across his legs as he moved. “I’m not straight, wait, I’m—I like men too, and—” he frowned into the middle distance, bending his knee up again, to lean his chin on it, “—I was at a red carpet thing and Indya Moore walked by and my heart stopped, I swear to god, I am definitely into…” he mouthed at the ceiling, frowning. “Thudes?”
“...sorry,” Billy said, dropping his jeans, and rubbing his face with his hands. “Sorry. I keep—I’m waiting for the punchline, tonight, sorry.”
“I’m sorry,” Steve said cautiously, and Billy walked back over to sit on the edge of the bed.
“No, shit, I’m sorry. Sorry,” Billy said, reaching out to squeeze his prince’s hand. “You’re...perfect.”
“You’re perfect,” Steve shot back, narrowing his eyes, and Billy snorted a laugh and coughed. Steve sighed. “I should look up the words,” he said, beckoning. “So that doesn’t...happen again. Come back. Come here.”
“Thought maybe I scared you straight,” Billy huffed a laugh, scooting closer, and Steve smirked up at him.
“Gonna have to try a lot harder than that,” he said.
“Lemme kiss you,” Billy told him, feeling hoarse, then jerked with surprise as Steve surged up to kiss him open-mouthed, tasting of mint and latex, and pulling Billy across him onto the bed in a crash of elbows, knees, stiff bridal uniform trousers, and bumping teeth. “God, feels like I just married you,” Billy whispered, rubbing his nose with a wince where it had connected with Steve’s jaw.
He could feel his face getting hot again, but with Steve grinning under him, all he could think about was soft lips, and the warm, firm skin against his. “Should have carried you across the threshold,” he whispered, bracing himself on his elbows to hover over Steve’s chest.
“Maybe you should’ve,” he said, laughing. “Maybe—”
“Maybe I should,” Billy said, sliding off the bed to scoop the royal heir into his arms, spin them both around—Steve whooped, slinging his arms around Billy’s neck and kicking his feet—and walking them out the door of the hotel room.
It locked.
“Oh shit!” Billy breathed, and Steve burst into snickers, hugging him tighter around the neck.
“I’ve got the keycard in my pocket,” he whispered, kissing Billy’s jaw. “Husband.”
“Shit,” Billy answered, laughing along now he knew he hadn’t locked them out. Steve squirmed around to dig into his pocket, and waved it at the door. “Good thing it’s not real,” Billy said into his hair. “Married to me, jesus.”
“You want a divorce already?” Steve asked, blinking wide eyes up at him, and Billy spun them around, kissing him on the way to the bed, his muscles complaining as he wished he’d spent more time at the gym and less time trying to keep track of Max’s anime addictions.
“No, no, you want me, you’ve got me,” Billy panted, sitting on the bed and letting them both fall sideways, so Steve’s legs were half on top of him.
“Good, I can’t take getting dumped that often,” Steve mumbled, sliding his hand around the back of Billy’s neck, and yanking him into a kiss.
Steve was warm, and laughing, and Billy pushed back on questioning his good luck. Something had to go right eventually, he told himself. Balance out the rest of my life. He oofed as Steve rolled on top of him.
“Hey,” Steve whispered, sliding his hands over Billy’s chest and shoulders with a little intent smile like he was exploring the unknown.
“Hey,” Billy whispered back, folding his arms behind his back, both so he could watch, and to make his arms flex. “Finding anything good?”
“Started out good, keeps getting better,” Steve mumbled, narrowing his eyes as he scooted forward to lean in for a kiss. Billy was already feeling his face heat, wondering who even said shit like that, when their cocks brushed, and he groaned, bucking his hips into the sensation. “God, I’m so lucky,” Steve mumbled against Billy’s lips, and Billy barked a laugh, yanking him in by the back of his head and hair for a slow kiss, the kind where Billy could see what made his prince hum happily and press closer.
Steve shifted on top of him, squishing and sliding their cocks together, and Billy made an undignified squeaking noise into his mouth. Steve lifted his head, laughing, and then leaned in again just as a knock came on the door.
Billy didn’t even register the noise, pushing himself up on his elbows to chase the kiss he’d been deprived of, but Steve pushed him back down, laughing. “Stay here, I’ll get it,” he whispered, and Billy blinked after him, bereft.
Room service brought half the menu, it looked like, and Billy stared, sitting up. “...you’re probably hungry,” he said, laughing, and Steve lifted a few lids and stuck his finger in one, then closed the lid again and crawled over, sticking a finger full of maple syrup in Billy’s mouth as he dropped next to him.
Billy watched him, feeling his skin heat again at Steve’s matter-of-fact appraisal of his dick, which was hard as rock, dripping from watching Steve peel back out of the robe, and bend over the cart.
“Hungry for you first,” Steve said, lying half on top of him so he could fist their dicks together, and looking kind of delighted as he tried it. Billy wondered in passing if Steve had watched something similar in porn, or invented it himself, but couldn’t hold back a groan at the feeling of tight, warm skin on his cock, and Steve’s smile as he kissed the syrup off Billy’s lips. “Even sweeter,” he whispered, and Billy snorted a laugh, his face so hot it burned.
He’d meant to make it good for Prince Steve, soft and slow, and there he was, pinned and writhing, his fists clenched in the sheets, while the royal hand worked his cock. “Billy,” Steve whispered, his breath hot as Billy moaned against his mouth.
“Anything,” Billy mumbled back, and came all over their stomachs. Steve was only a few seconds later, and Billy hugged him close, sticky and panting. “Anything,” he whispered again, burying his face in Steve’s hair.
“You’re enough already,” Steve laughed, smiling. “I was just saying your name. You’re perfect.”
Billy snorted a laugh, shaking his head. “Sure,” he said, smiling back.
Steve sat up, frowning down at his messy stomach, and Billy swung his legs off the bed and ran to the bathroom. He returned with a wet cloth to wipe up his prince’s belly, then fold it and scrub it over his sides, and up his chest, until Steve laughed and kissed him again, squishing the gross washcloth between them.
The next morning, Billy went to slide out of bed and get to class, and Prince Stephen of Blois, Grand Cross of the Order of the House of Orange, rolled over to slide an arm around his waist, kissing his side. The royal stubble tickled, and Billy squirmed around to face his attacker.
“Hey,” Steve whispered, reaching up to stroke his knuckles down Billy’s stubble.
Billy realized there was no reason compelling enough to leave, and crawled back over his fare-turned-seducer and prince. “…what are you doing today?” he asked, and Steve raised his eyebrows, then pulled Billy down to lie on top of him. His warm hands slid up Billy’s back as he hummed thoughtfully, and Billy was relieved to find the squirming body under him was nearly as hard as he was.
“…thought you said you had class,” Steve whispered, and Billy laughed, nuzzling in to kiss his neck.
“I get…okay grades…” Billy mumbled, catching the skin of Steve’s neck between his teeth, and feeling him groan. “…miss a day.”
Steve’s groan turned more resigned. “How about we meet again after class?” he asked, and Billy froze, then sat back, frowning down.
“…you can just tell me to stop,” he said.
“I don’t want you to stop,” Steve told him, grabbing Billy’s hand and kissing it, so Billy could feel the royal breath, warm across his knuckles. “But you—you stopped working to take me bowling, I can’t make you miss school.”
“It’s okay,” Billy laughed, his eyes fixed on the prince kissing his hand, like they were at Cinderella’s ball. “I’m not that dumb,” he muttered. “I can miss one day.”
“You’re not dumb,” Steve frowned, and Billy’s grin widened.
“You wanna bet, pretty boy?”
“I was…what if I want to…see you again?” Steve muttered, and Billy raised his eyebrows. “You have to tell me no, if I’m interrupting something—“
Billy squinted. “The fuck do you mean, see me again. You’re going back to—to Europe, right?”
“Not today,” Steve sighed, stretching, and then rubbing his face so Billy couldn’t see his expression.
“Just a few days, though,” Billy insisted. “I can free up my time, I’m nobody important—“
Steve dropped a hand to Billy’s thigh. “So you do want to see me,” he said flatly, and Billy swallowed.
“Y-yeah,” he laughed, watching Steve’s hands, instead of his face. “Of course. You got time for me, I’m there.”
“...okay,” Steve said, and he sounded like he was smiling, so Billy looked up to see his foreign royalty with a little grin on his face, and pink cheeks. Billy leaned in to kiss him, and Steve mumbled happily against his mouth. “...alright,” Steve said, stroking his fingers through Billy’s tangled hair. “I’ll see you after your classes. Text me.”
Billy half-wanted to threaten him. Say ‘if you don’t mean that, just fuck me now,’ but he took a slow breath, and didn’t do anything insane, like punch next to Steve’s head, and whisper threats about liars. “Yeah,” he said, getting up off the bed, wishing he could just—just jack off looking at Steve, lying there with his long legs and the curve of his ass cheek hanging out of the blankets. He thought about Max’s face if he admitted he’d tried to ditch work and school for some kind of sex marathon with a stranger, and yanked his jeans up.
“Love to watch you leave,” Steve sang, hanging half off the bed, and Billy burst out laughing, and nearly stumbled and fell with his jeans halfway up his hips.
“Call me,” he called back as he yanked his sweatshirt on. It smelled like expensive cologne, and he didn’t look back as he left, thinking hard about cleaning the kitchen drain to try and get his cock to go back to sleep. Steve yelled something as he closed the door, but Billy just ducked his head and ran for the stairs.
Billy’d organized his classes to be done, most days, by eleven in the morning. It left time for homework, and packing lunches for he and Max the next day, and a nap before work.
At eleven-oh-three, he was playing with his phone, biting his lips, and looking at the contact picture of Prince Steve failing hard at bowling. Finally, he tossed it in the passenger seat and drove home.
There was folded, stacked laundry on the table, along with a piece of paper that said ‘BROTHER SHAMING: what has he left in his pocketses’ on which dwelt an empty bottle of sunscreen, a pile of quarters, the now-half-wrapped, linty Starburst candies he’d grabbed instead of cigarettes, a handful of shredded Kleenex, a tube of eyeliner that was oozing blackened water onto the note, tiny bottles of mint schnapps and mint mouthwash, and a gooey pile that might once have been a cookie. Billy bit his lips together, raising his eyebrows, and cleaned his pockets out right there on the table.
It was sort of the opposite of a treasure hunt, usually—wadded up wrappers full of gum, stuff people left in his back seat—but today he slapped down the wad of hundred-dollar bills Steve had given him, and heard Max gasp from the doorway.
“Oh my jesus,” she whispered. “Billy. Did—what did you—did you—did you get a sugar daddy? Are you—are you letting some asshole millionaire fuck your ass?!” She grabbed his wrist, squeezing it hard, but he was laughing too hard, half-collapsing against the table, to answer helpfully. “Did you rob a bank?!” she squeaked. “Did you fuck a bank robber?! Billy!”
“No!” He cackled, dropping into a chair, and leaning his face in his arms. “No, no—”
“Is it real?!” she hissed, crouching to eyeball the money at face-level, then shuffling close to sniff it. “It smells like Skittles,” she whispered. “Billy...you could go to jail, don’t whore yourself out to counterfeiters—”
He laughed so hard he wasn’t even making noise anymore, and she punched his shoulder.
“At least make them pay with real money!” she hissed. “Is your ass counterfeit?! No!”
“No,” he wheezed, and she smacked his shoulder.
“What did you do,” she growled. “What the fuck, brother mine.”
“It’s real,” he whispered, trying to stop giggling. “It’s real, it’s fine.”
“What did you do to get it,” she asked, eyes narrowed, and he grinned at her ferocity. “Billy. Are you safe,” she asked, grabbing his sleeve, and he nodded, wiping his eyes.
“It’s fine, Max, I swear. I didn’t do anything shitty—”
“Did anyone do anything shitty to you,” she growled again, like a redheaded wolverine, and Billy started snickering again, grabbing her and noogieing her head until she yelled and yanked hard on a handful of his hair.
“I’m okay,” he told her. “I don’t owe anybody anything, I’m not in trouble, and I didn’t do anything I didn’t wanna do.”
“...okay,” she said suspiciously. “Can we...spend it? All we got is cereal and canned beans.”
“Yeah, go nuts,” Billy sighed, leaning his chin on his arms and imagining Steve’s grin, pressed against the door of the bathroom stall as he tried to hand his one-night-stand enough money to let Billy relax for a month. “Don’t, like, blow it all, but get some greens, maybe. I wanna take my car in, see why it’s making that whinny.”
“Damn. Yeah,” Max stared at her hands as she counted the money, then shook her head. “Christ, Billy, we could get a new toaster.”
“...it works,” he muttered, but eyed it speculatively. “Maybe we should wait. Save it, y’know. Just in case I—”
“It sparked so bad yesterday it was—it was like lightning in the kitchen,” she said with a grimace. “I threw a Pop Tart in and didn’t have the lights on, and I pushed the thing down and—GAH. Seriously, one of these days, you—you’re gonna find me on the kitchen floor with smoking hair.”
“Okay,” Billy nodded, making a face. “But then we gotta save some. I get sick, there’s no way to cover bills—”
“I know that!” she yelled. “That’s why I want a job, asshole!”
“I can do this!” he yelled back, and she narrowed her eyes, taking a step back and away, and Billy bit his lips, turning to face the other way. “I—I’ve got this, okay, just—just fucking—go to school and shit, you’re fourteen—”
“You’re eighteen!” she shot back. “You can’t even buy liquor!”
“I know!” he shouted at the wall, wanting to scream. “I know, I—I’m—we’ll get a fucking toaster, okay, I—I got you, will you just—”
“You don’t have to!” she shrieked back at him, and the neighbor started pounding on the wall.
“Shut up,” Billy sighed. He grabbed his phone, stomped into his bedroom, and locked the door.
He could hear Max slamming around in the kitchen, and he groaned, burying his face in his pillow, when his text alert went off. He clicked it, sniffling.
Prince: You off in time for lunch? Or dinner?
Billy stared at it, and closed his eyes. He took a deep breath, blew out, and texted back.
Billy: Out of school
Billy: don’t have to work today because somebody handed me a stack of CASH last night
The phone rang, and Billy cleared his throat before he answered.
“You wanna pick me up? I’ll get you lunch,” said his prince.
“Y-yeah,” Billy nodded, wiping his nose.
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” Steve asked, and he sounded so urgent Billy wanted to bawl.
“Nah, it’s fine,” he said, curling up tighter on the bed. “I—I’ll come and—you still at the hotel?”
“Yes I am,” Steve said, “I’m—is there anything I can do?”
“You already fucking did,” Billy grated out. “I have money and my kid sister is all excited to have a toaster that won’t kill us and worried as shit I’ll get sick and we won’t have any money left—”
“A toaster?” Steve repeated, startled. “Are you—you okay?”
“We’ll be fine,” Billy growled out, his vision blurring with tears again. “I’m—it’s fine, it’s just—” Steve waited, and Billy rolled onto his face, punching the pillow. His throat hurt. “I don’t have custody,” he whispered. “She—I’m her step-brother, you know, I just—god. Anything happens to me, she’s—”
Steve was quiet at the other end, and Billy wondered whether he’d hung up. “...but you’re fine?” he asked finally. “Right now, you’re okay?”
“I can do this,” Billy told him, swallowing hard. “She doesn’t need to—she’s trying to—she’s just a kid, she doesn’t need to—”
“...she’s worried about her brother?” Steve asked, and it sounded like he was smiling.
“She wants to get some—some sleazy job that’d hire kids,” Billy growled at him. “Help pay for things. She’s gonna do something dumb—”
“Maybe there’s a way she could help?” Steve suggested, and Billy sat up, glaring out the window, then down at his hands.
“She doesn’t need to! She already—she did all the laundry, and she’s out with your money buying food—she’ll probably cook something shitty—”
“I could get her dinner too,” Steve offered, laughing.
“She’s fourteen,” Billy hissed at him, and Steve was quiet for a long moment.
“Uh.” Steve paused. “Um...you know you’re her brother, right?”
“I’m not, that’s the problem—and I know, I’m—I’m trying, I just can’t—I can’t get it right, I never get anything—”
“Wait, wait, Billy,” Steve interrupted. “Billy.”
“Yeah,” Billy whispered, wiping his eyes.
“Just...why do you do all this?”
“The fuck do you mean why,” Billy yelled. “She called me, she—she needed—she needed me to—”
“Yeah, okay,” Steve agreed, “—but why’d you do it?”
“I didn’t want my fucking dad to fracture her eye socket!” Billy told him, squirming under the covers to muffle his voice.
“...jesus,” Steve whispered. “But you did all this for her, right. She moved in with you?”
“I got an apartment,” Billy mumbled. “Ditched my roommates.”
“...so you did it to help her.”
“I had to,” Billy groaned. “The hell was I gonna say?”
“You could have called the police?” Steve suggested.
“What, wait until he does it?!”
“No!” Steve laughed, sounding a little raw himself. “But all this—all these—all this you do, you do for her? You do all this to help her, right?”
Billy narrowed his eyes. “What’s your point?”
“Why can’t she help you?”
“She’s a kid!”
“...can I see you? Can I meet you somewhere?”
Billy cleared his throat, again. “Yeah. Yes. Let me—” he took a deep, shaky breath, and got out of bed. “Where do you want me to go?”
“...what if…” Steve trailed off, and Billy’s throat closed again, as he registered the mess he’d just dumped in a stranger’s lap. “What about a movie?” he asked, and Billy started snickering.
“You can just hang up, jesus,” he said, stretching. “When somebody starts moaning all this shit. You met me once.”
“Yeah,” Steve agreed. “Yeah, once. Liked what I saw, though.”
Billy glared at the phone, his heart pounding as he wondered whether princes actually went to some kind of charm school, specifically to cause heart attacks in Uber drivers. ‘Course, somebody smarter might not take him so serious, he realized, then groaned dramatically through his fingers. “Fine. Awesome. What movie you wanna see?”
“I do not know,” Steve said slowly. “...trying to search while I’m talking to you, and it kind of…where is there even...”
“I’ll come get you,” Billy told him, smiling irrepressibly. He ducked his head as he walked out of his bedroom, and caught the pajama pants Max threw at his face.
“The hell are you going?!” she asked, sliding across the floor in her socks to glower up at him. “No! We’re watching Die Hard! You said!”
“Gonna meet him again,” Billy said, pulling his shoes on. “He’s leaving town.”
“You’re trading your ass to your drug lord again?” she asked, sounding resigned, and Billy stared at her. “Uh-huh. Try to get twenties this time, lady at the grocery store thought I was a hooker, I think. Probably. Or I robbed a bank? Or I robbed a hooker that robbed a bank—”
“She what,” Billy mumbled, horrified, but Max shoved a handful of granola bars in his pocket, and held the door open.
“You got condoms?” she asked, her eyes narrowed, and Billy shouted back a YES, MAX, I FUCKING DO as he fled down the stairs, his cheeks burning hot.
