2nd part of your question lol @bazookaboi
Some notes, plus the bonus game (if dont know their names) of trying to guess who I'm talking about based on the description. Also hopefully my handwriting isn't too bad :
Devin used to be a lot more of a gym guy and has burned himself out on a lot of foods, and most of the time because of time constraints/depression combo he just gets takeout for him and Zoe . But when he’s the one cooking, his go-to is the classic rice and chicken, which for some reason is still easy for him to make regardless of mental state. He thinks it'd be cool if he could eat alien food because of all the fun colors
Lee’s family is like, rich-rich, and she currently lives at a pretty high end university (with neat cafeteria benefits). She often doesn’t realize that stuff like Real red meat is not a normal thing for most other people to have as a favorite.
Riley has virtually no life skills or money, but thankfully he also seems to have no taste buds or particular preferences . He’ll eat literally whatever is available, and out of curiosity/boredom likes to mix things up. Maybe one day he’ll find a favorite, but the novelty of eating things that aren’t from a cafeteria or dictated by his parents means that everything is his favorite.
Zoe gets easily fixated on foods for temporary periods (making her pretty hard to cook for, because guess who suddenly doesn’t like eggs anymore) but has a long-term love for anything fruity and brightly colored, especially mango. Thank god she can’t drink energy drinks or else she'd have even more health problems.
Rinshi has uhh several issues with food, if you couldn’t tell. They like sweet things, but to get them to admit that you’d have to get them to understand that eating an apple isn’t a moral failing.
Maro is in a bit of a similar situation, but she also has the obstacle of being an alien obligate carnivore in a country where her species is such a minority that their food production is an afterthought (and so it’s very expensive to get, especially meat). It’s a great day in Maro-land when she gets to eat something that used to run around and have real bones and organs in it.
WaraWara is also there to show that some xenos think the other’s food looks yucky eww
