I have been wondering for a while now. What characters from otome have taugh you valuable lessons? Is that characters your favorite or not?

Actually, now when I think about, I was a really horrible person back in school. I was selfish, I loved manipulating people for my own benefit, I was fake and sometimes I break people's hearts without second thought. Now you might be thinking 'Woah! This girl used be an asshole in school.' Yes! I was....and now when I think about it.....I hate myself.

Now that I'm an adult, I think it's not only otome games and anime that played a part in changing me. It's just, once I became an adult I left behind my childish behavior and started....to be a better person.

Usually when I play an otome game, or watch an anime or even a movie, I do end up learning a thing or two but most of the time I forget about the movie after 2 or 3 weeks, but that life lesson always follows me everywhere. Now otome games, has played a big part in my life but I don't remember every otome games story clearly now....but I'll try. Also most of them might not be my favorites!!

Lance (Nameless) - I learned how to cherish even the smallest thing that happens in my life.

There is a scene if I remember correctly, where Lance was standing near a trash can in the rain and sees a barbie doll in the trash can.

I felt really bad when I saw that. A doll for me used be a thing that never had feelings. Even if break it or throw it away, it would never cry or even curse me(unless it's possessed)

But now, after seeing that scene, I started to put myself in it’s place and I started to feel how worse it was. A doll you loved so much as a kid is now thrown away like a piece of trash.

From then on, started loving everything I have whether it’s a living thing or non-living thing. Even the laptop I used to write this, even the phone I used to play games, even the pillow I cuddle with in my bed are all precious treasures to me and I want no one to even touch them.

This might sound like I’m crazy, but I don’t care. I love everything that my parents offered me and will cherish it till the end.

Also, do I like Lance? Yup. He’s my 2nd fav. of this game!

Soi (Nameless) - Looking at your own self before criticizing others.

Soi might be an extra in the game, but I still loved her every time she showed up. She’s always shown to be a true friend towards Eri(MC) and always liked her for who she is.

I haven’t played the entire game, but in one route, when Eri tells her friends that she has a hobby of collecting dolls and was ready to hear her friends bashing her about being childish and stuff, Soi was very casual about it and didn’t say anything.

When Eri asked if she was weird for having such a hobby, Soi gives a savage reply like “Dude, I already have many problems in my own life to deal with. Why would I want to increase my burden with yours’= too?” or something like.

That was a very good lesson for me to learn. Before you go out and tell people how should they behave or criticize them, first check yourself. Are you a good person? Is your life problems already solved before you go out and solve other person’s problems?”

Seriously, if you have these kind of people in your life, tell them to FUCK OFF! because they’re toxic as hell.

Lucette (Cinderella Phenomenon) - The person you love and trust might not always be a good person.

Everyone has a person they trust and love. For some, it might be their friends, for some it might be siblings, or for some it might be their pets. No one has the right to judge. But the person you trust might not feel the same way for you.

In this beautifully made game, the MC, Lucette is disliked by everyone because she’s rude, arrogant and never trusted anyone other than her mother. But in the end of the story !! SPOILER ALERT!! her mother was the villain in her entire life.

 Her own mother made her not trust anyone, even her own father for her entire life. When she learned about this truth, she was literally heart broken because the only person she ever loved didn’t love her back. But life doesn’t end there. She stands up again and tries to reconcile with her father, stepmother and step siblings.

Going through betrayal and experiencing heart breaks is traumatizing but it’s also a part of learning....you will learn to not trust anyone blindly. Life doesn’t end there, you have to keep moving on and one day you’ll surely find a person you can trust and rely on.

If you’re still alone, then keep a pet. There is no rule that you should only love humans, right?

Sovieshu (The remarried empress webtoon/ interactive game/light novel) - It only takes one small mistake to collapse your entire world.

It takes great hard work and time to create an strong Empire, but did you know that one small mistake is enough to destroy everything in your life. The webtoon Remarried Empress is a right example of that. (If you haven’t read this, I highly recommend it.)

Sovieshu is piece of SHIT! I won’t lie, but he has thought me this lesson. Sovieshu is a Great Emperor along with Navier, who is the Empress of their country. They both were trained to be the king and queen since they were children and both were the best of friends. Even if they were not lovers, they were still married and Navier has always been faithful towards her husband and the entire Empire.

But one day, Sovieshu happened to meet tRashta(slave) and fell in love with her at first sight. Without doing any background check of her past or anything, he brings her home and makes her his concubine. Navier was kinda sad but she didn’t want to show it because she was the Queen and she had to, you know, keep her public image at the top. But Sovieshu on the other hand started becoming abusive and compared Navier with tRashta. Even though Navier didn’t do anything, he  kept on accusing her for bullying tRashta everyday. It’s like he would wait in the corner, hiding, looking at Navier and tRashta interacting and when he see tRastha crying, he comes running to her and starts to scold Navier in front of the whole public. He’s such an asshole. Later he does give her a divorce (stating that she’s infertile) because, tRashta was pregnant with his baby and he didn’t want to make her baby, a bastard because, tRashta is not his wife. But on the other hand, he also didn’t want to leave Navier because she was a perfect Queen in every way. So his plan was to divorce her for one year, and marry tRashta till the baby was born, so the baby becomes the princess. Later he’ll annul their divorce, so by doing this he has both tRashta and Navier. He’s such an asshole.

But Navier had other plans. So right when her divorce was agreed by the priest, she requested for a remarriage. From here own, Sovieshu’s tragedy starts. Later in the story he finds out that, it wasn’t Navier who was infertile but it was him all along. Even the baby tRashta carried was not his. After this betrayal, Sovieshu lost his mental stability and went through severe depression. See! That’s all it takes for your world to collapse. One single mistake is what is needed.

Kurama(Ikemen Genjiden) - What’s wrong with being yourself?

IDK if your family is like this, but my family is like “You have to learn to eat everything. Like vegetables, meat etc etc” with a reason that you’ll be able to live any circumstances.

I would like to say that, I’m a very picky eater. I hate vegetables, especially tomatoes. If I even see one small piece of tomato in my food.....I won’t throw the whole food away, I’ll just take the piece and put it on the side of the plate and also yell at my mom for putting tomatoes in my food. I’m also a vegetarian. I hate tasting meat but I don’t mind eating food in the small table as my non-veg father. Also, unlike my family members, I’m very punctual. (because I’m an introvert and I don’t like getting the extra attention when I’m late!!)

These are just some of the facts of me being me. My family always complains that I shouldn’t choose how I want to be and must always be perfect in everything because I’m a girl and girls are married off when they get older, right? (It’s bullshit.)

The only people who loves me for who I am are my parents. They never once told me to do this or that like my useless uncles and aunts who have never ever contributed anything in my life.

Kurama as a character, I love him, because he is just being himself. He’s like ‘I’ll do whatever I want and no one has the right to stop me.’ 

That quote is so beautiful. I mean, why are you being fake for the sake of being accepted by the society. The people who truly loves you will love you for who you are. Do the things the way you like. Eat what you like, drink what you like, watch whatever you like. If you like anime, and your friend wants to watch sports, watch anime in your phone with your head phones. It’s better than watching sports you don’t like and creating an awkward environment by acting you know every player in the team, right?

No one has the right to judge anyone. If anyone does come and tell you “Hey, you should not do this like this way, but you should do it this.”, tell that person “ I’ll do whatever I want and no one has the right to stop me. “

Yoritomo and Yoshino(Ikemen Genjiden)- Not everyone is perfect.

I never understood what is the meaning behind being a perfect man or perfect human. Does it mean you have good figure on the outside but at the same time you’re toxic as hell inside? or does it mean you’re very intelligent but at the same time you’re socially awkward? 

Not everyone is perfect. Not everyone is good at every single thing and not everyone has to be good at everything.

Yoritomo as a character, always wears a perfect smile indicating others how good he is. But in reality, he’s very lonely and also needs someone to look after him just like anyone else.

There is nothing wrong with being independent and doing everything on your own. But there is also nothing wrong in depending on someone for things you can’t do. If anyone boldly claims that “I don’t need anyone to love me, I’m fine without anyone” it’s all bullshit! Don’t believe in that kind of nonsense.

Even if you’re the king of the world or even if your a roadside homeless puppy, everyone needs love and support in their life. Everyone needs some one they could talk to, even if it’s just trivial.

It will at least give them a small amount happiness even though it doesn’t worth anything. That’s why I’m telling you, if you don’t have a lover or friends or parents or any human being to talk to, adopt a pet or something.

Favourite Gaming Soundtracks of the 2010s

It’s the end of another decade and what a decade it’s been. So much has changed in “just” 10 years, so many cool things have happened, so many amazing games have been released. Since it’s the end of the year I thought I could talk about some things that are dear to my heart. I love music and with so many dope games came just as amazing soundtracks. So, I just wanna let out my thoughts for my favourites. This is not really ranked, but I’ll tell you which my favs are from my favs.

But first, some “honorable mentions” for soundtracks I really enjoy, even though I’ve never played these games.

-        Dark Souls / Bloodborne Mystic and gritty, but strangely calming from time to time

-        Hollow Knight It came coming on with YT Autoplay and to be honest, I can’t complain. All in all a great soundtrack

-        Persona 5 Dude, talk about style. It’s not quite my type of game, but holy fuck, the music is my JAM

-        God of War (2018) I DID play this game and I loved it, but the soundtrack didn’t really stick out to me THAT much. Some tracks are downright bone-chilling and epic, but it didn’t have such a big impact on me all in all.

 Anyways, on with my list.

Pokemon Sword and Shield

I’m gonna start with a recent one since it’s still fresh in my mind.

I always liked the Pokemon Soundtracks. Though most of the time simplistic, some tracks just have such iconic melodies. However, from Sinnoh onwards, I started liking single tracks more than the soundtrack as a whole. For example. even though most people say Cynthia has the best Champion theme, I can agree an the melody being amazing, but for me, the theme is so loaded, I don’t like it (best Champion theme is still Lance). Alola, for me, started having an upcurve on the soundtrack. I liked it as a whole, though I can’t really remember what exactly stood out to me.

Now Sword and Shield. Dudes, keep going on that route, your OST is amazing. I’ll be honest, the BEST thing of this game is the soundtrack. All have this kinda sporty/cheery sound and even though, let’s say, the normal battle theme isn’t that of a banger, the number of amazing single themes is just so high. Bede’s theme is basically the only thing I like about him, Marnie’s has such a cool tune (and all the metal covers on YT, BRO) and even if many people don’t like Hop’s theme, I really dig it. Some parts remind me of Mirror B.s theme, I dunno why.

And then you have my fav tracks, Rose’s Final Fantasy theme, Toby’s amazing Battle Tower theme AND THE GYM BATTLE MUSIC. I really didn’t like the gym leader theme at first but while playing the game, after each gym leader, it got me more and more stoked when the battle began.

All in all, Pokemon Sword and Shield has an overall enjoyable soundtrack. Filled with bangers, for me it made the game itself so much better.

Animal Crossing

Though I haven’t played the game in a long time, I still listen to the music.

Animal Crossing is just laid out to be this chill and calming ensemble of melodies. And it works. When I’m stressed or have to work on stuff I don’t want to, I usually just put on Animal Crossing music. It calms me and just gives me this warm and fuzzy feeling. It also helps when I have problems sleeping.

A soundtrack to just lie back, close your eyes and just enjoy life.

Legend of Zelda – Breath of the Wild

Continuing with calm music, let’s talk about my favourite Switch title.

This game often gets flag for “having no music” or too little of it. I know where you’re coming from, but I just think the limited use of the soundtrack makes you appreciate it even more. The moments when the music is used is carefully chosen and that makes it special. Be it the few piano notes that play while the day goes on, the little notification that you’ve entered a new area, the unexpected high energy when you’re fighting (most of all bosses) or the indescribable fear you feel when a Guardian spots you.

There are a few favourite moments I have of the game.

First is the start, when you first leave the cave, run out and this vast landscape opens before you. Just those few piano notes made me all excited for this new adventure. Like dawn is breaking.

The first time I rode on a horse over this wide field and suddenly, the music starts swelling. It was almost magical, the music rising just like my excitement.

The last thing I love is the difference between being in villages and outside. When I noticed that you always have some kind of melody playing when you’re in a settlement it dawned on me how quiet it was outside of them. I love this contrast between being alone in the wilderness with all the quiet and the sudden swell in music when you’re with other people.

This OST amazes me with how much emotion it can convey with often just the smallest amount of notes. An amazing soundtrack for just as an amazing game.

Super Mario Odyssey

So, last Nintendo game on this list, I swear.

This one is a small surprise, but at the same time, it really isn’t. I’ve never really been a fan of the main Mario games, they just aren’t really my thing. (the spin-offs are my jam). However, I’ve always enjoyed Mario’s music. The upbeat tunes really get stuck in your head and the melodies are always so recognizable. Heck, my favourite OST was from Super Mario Sunshine back in the day!

With Odyssey, I really enjoyed both the game and the soundtrack aspect. The worlds are colourful and the gameplay is super fun. Combine that with the stellar soundtrack and the game was such a fun experience, it’s definitely in my top 10. But what I really enjoyed is the diversity of the track. When you listen to the soundtrack on Youtube and you just click on two different parts of the video, I can guarantee that they’ll probably sound completely different but at the same time somehow coherent. The best tracks, in my opinion, are the upbeat ones for sure. The feeling of excitement and adventure just swells so much it’s amazing.

Then you’ve got “Jump up Superstar”. I fucking love this song. It’s so much fun, has such a great tune which gets stuck in your head and the lyrics are so easy to sing along. All things I love in a song. I actually listened to the song on repeat before I even got the game and I couldn’t wait to get to New Donk City to LIVE the song. And I wasn’t disappointed, it was one if not the best moments in the game.

Great game, great soundtrack, 100% fun.

Bravely Default / Bravely Second

(technically on a Nintendo Console, but whatev) I’m just gonna lump this two together, since BS’s the sequel.

Now, JRPGs aren’t really my thing. They often take too long for my tastes, I can’t for the life of me concentrate on the story and characters and after some time they just get stale for me. But now and then, I pick up a series I actually finish and that was Bravely Default and Second. I think I just have such a huge soft spot for the series cause of the art style/atmosphere and the fact that I played 8 hours straight of BD on a flight from Canada home.

I haven’t played the games in forever but when I think about what I like about them, there are 3 things I always think about: characters, art style and soundtrack. The songs might sound generic to most, but to me, with my little knowledge of JRPGs, find them quiet unique. It does at some points remind me of Final Fantasy but I think something just makes the tracks just sound like Bravely, though I can’t put my finger on it.

I don’t know the names of the themes, but even now there are just certain tracks which I link to a certain reaction. Like “oh no, not them again” or “Now shit is getting down”. Or every time the main theme plays, I get absolutely pumped.

Haven’t played the games in forever, but the soundtrack’s still in my mind.

Kingdom Hearts

From one RPG to the next, here’s a very special soundtrack. Kingdom Hearts is a franchise near and dear to my heart. It’s one of the first, if not THE first, RPG I ever played. I just get so nostalgic with this game. I can just remember watching my brother playing KH2, seeing two characters from my favourite franchise run around with this spiky haired boy with this stupidly big key. So much stuff happened I didn’t even understand back then, but just seeing these animated characters laugh and cry and go on this grand adventure, little me was mesmerized.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too happy with KH3. I’ve waited so long for it, just like hundreds of other people, but the end product just, I dunno, lacked the heart it used to. One thing however didn’t, the soundtrack. As sad I was to not enjoy the game as a whole as much as I wanted to, the soundtrack became one of my instant favourites. It sounds grandiose and has so much emotion. Each track sounds amazing but the OST really shines in its more calm and beautiful themes and its epic ones.

My favourite songs are the serene ones, however. “Sincerely Beloved” and the other Utada songs are some of my favourite songs ever and I can’t tell you how close I came to crying with the Sea Salt Icecream Trios themes. Heck, I played Xion’s theme back in the day on the piano and I still can play it now.

As much as KH has gone down in heart, the soundtrack stands up there as one of the best, much thanks to Utada Hikaru as well. It will always be important to me and just reminds me of my childhood. Some very fond memories.

Undertale

Well, let’s get outta the nostalgia feel and turn it up a bit!

Ah, Toby Fox, you madlad. Creating such a great game and subverting so many expectations. Undertale really had a big impact on the gaming scene but for me, the soundtrack really lasted. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the characters and story very much, but I still listen to the soundtrack regularly.

Undertale’s OST is comprised of sad, melancholic, upbeat and downright hype tunes. It has a wide spectrum but Toby Fox really does know how to push Leitmotif. All themes kind of flow great into each other but still manage to stand out and are recognizable. Each character theme fits the character perfectly and I love how their themes usually have some melodies/instruments from the area they’re in. And speaking of areas, as much as I love the character themes I just might prefer the atmosphere tracks even more. I mean, “Snowdin” just sounds like this super laid back, cute little town, “Home” is such a calming song and “It’s raining somewhere else” has such mystique. And, of course, the fact that the tracks have character/plot relevance is just amazing.

Not to mention, Toby Fox created one of the best Meme songs in existence.

Love the game, love the soundtrack even more and I’ll listen to “Death by Glamour” til I die.

Horizon Zero Dawn

I’m so happy I picked up this game. I never bought it cos A, I feel overwhelmed by open world games, and B, it COSTS SO MUCH. But I found it for half the prise and I bought it right before exam week. I know, smart move.

But anyways, the soundtrack. There aren’t any tracks that really stand out to me but I just like it as a whole. It’s such an atmospheric OST and when listening to it as BG music you just HEAR where you are, which tribe you’re in, what you probably did in the game when it played.

And that’s actually a big factor. All in all, I don’t think it’s such a special OST. It sounds great, most tracks are solid, but what really makes it shine is how much it enhances the experience of the game. The gameplay and story are great, but the OST just makes everything so much better, with setting the tone and atmosphere and all that.

I could go on and on about this game, but the soundtrack can be shaved down to a few words. Solid, great and atmospheric.

Monster Hunter World / Iceborne

So, I’ll drop this to second to last because I already made a super long analysis of the soundtrack. I’ll link it here.

But to put it simply, this is probably my favourite soundtrack at the moment. I just haven’t experienced so many emotions while listening to an OST since a certain game that’s next on the list. I still can’t listen to “Succession of Light” without almost crying (who am I kidding, I cry every time). I dunno why, but so many tracks make me feel such a barrage of emotions, be it excitement for adventure, hype for the hunt or just simply a childlike wonder.

Simply a great soundtrack that will be on top for a long time.

Okami

Technically a game from 2006, but the PS4 version came out like 2017 and I REALLY WANNA TALK ABOUT THIS GAME.

This is my absolute favourite game of all time. Since I played it first when I was about 9 years old, I just really loved this game. I replayed it more times than I can count and dude, I speedrun this game in record time.

For people who don’t know this game, you play as the Sun God Amaterasu, who has been summoned in the body of a white wolf. You job is to banish the evil from Nippon. To say this game awakened my fondness of Japanese culture is, well, spot on. I’ve played this game before I even knew what anime was. The atmosphere, style, themes and mostly the music mesmerized me. It was all so, well, foreign. Even nowadays it stands out from anything else I’ve played.

But on to the OST. Next to it being just amazing in general, it just is so Japanese and that’s what has always stuck out to me. I grew up with very traditional and classical music, back then I didn’t even listen to English/American music. So to hear these melodies and instruments that just sound so unfamiliar was very intriguing. And that just topped of the already amazing tracks. Okami does a great job of having super epic, exciting but also sombre and atmospheric music. It’s also very animated and comedic with it’s use of music. So, the mix of foreign sounds and great timing of amazing tracks just makes the experience all so much more memorable.

Even after 10+ years, Okami never gets boring and no matter how much I play it, the moment I face a boss and the epic music swells, or the moment a calm scene passes and the melody slows, my heart fills with emotion and I’m so glad I played it again.

Well, that’s that! I know it probably often sounds kind of sappy, but music is very special and important to me. If music doesn’t evoke emotions in me, I don’t care about it, even if it sounds great. For me it’s important that, when I listen to a soundtrack, I can remember the game or the scene it played in and the emotions I felt in that moment.

Soundtracks are supposed to make a emotional connection between you and the game and that’s why they are essential. At least that’s how I see it.

just a question: do you ship klance? or has the decline since season 3 made you uninterested?

I mean, I like the pairing–it’s my personal fav to write about–but I’m not overly invested in it in canon. I think it has a lot of potential to be interesting in canon, even now, because Keith and Lance have such a dramatic dynamic, but I’d honestly be good with any LGBT rep in the show, so long as it’s important LGBT rep. And when I say that, I mean, not just some side character that has no relevance to the plot. I mean, rep with one of the main characters. But romantic Sheith is dead in canon (sorry to the Sheith shippers, but if you’re still failing to see the familial relationship the canon is putting on Keith and Shiro, then… sorry, bro, ship what you want, but also go off I guess, lol), Hunk has Shay, Pidge has never shown any interest in anyone (and while she could be LGBT rep by way of being trans/ace/something else, it hasn’t been made explicit). Like, even with the Allurance we were privy to this season, Klance is… all we’ve got left? 

So, like, my investment in Klance now comes from a desire to see LGBT rep in the show, my feelings on the pairing aside. I want to see a good, LGBT love story with the kind of explicit development we didn’t get in Korra. And I get why they didn’t do it then, but come on, we’re supposed to be making strides forward. And, like, the team working on Voltron worked on ATLA, which means they at least know of Korra. They KNOW the fans they’re dealing with and how important this stuff is. 

Which is what keeps me STILL hanging on to the hope in canon. Slowly but surely, ship after ship has been axed by outside influences, Sheith being the most recent to solidly go (you can love your brother, people, it’s okay, I tell my siblings I love them during emotional parts of our lives too, and I’m about as emotionally constipated as they come). Allurance got a lot of attention this season, but it wasn’t… good attention. Lance was sad and mopey and after learning of his feelings, Allura didn’t choose him over Lotor. She still doesn’t have any interest in him and if they get together now, it’ll seem like Lance is sloppy seconds and he deserves better than that (among other things I could rant about all day). 

But let’s say they take Allurance to the next level and develop it well. Let’s say Allura rejects Lance, he gets over it, only for her to fall for him and so they’re back on equal ground. Great. But there’s still no LGBT rep then? I mean, in the old show, Shiro got together with Romelle, so there’s that to take into account now that Romelle is around. And what’s up with Keith’s weird connection to Acxa? Is that also meant to be romantic since she’s not his sister? 

If that all is the case, then we have nothing. Which is why Klance is all that I really have left to bank on. No, Keith and Lance haven’t had any development in recent seasons, but they do have a history and a relationship dynamic that has yet to find closure. Which means that they WILL have development together in future seasons (I’m assuming. The Voltron writers miss sometimes, but what little interaction Keith and Lance had in season 6 shows that it’s yet unresolved and they’re aware of it). If Lance is to get the slow burn relationship they said he would, it has to be either Keith or Allura at this point. These are the only characters in the show that have a relatively dynamic relationship with him. 

Sorry to the Pance shippers, but to suddenly shove a romance into Pidge’s narrative would be silly. And while I love Shance to death, we all knew that was never gonna happen. 

We were told there would be LGBT representation. Lance is shown as being the character to be supported in that art piece where they’re holding up the “race, gender, LGBT” signs. And if he is bisexual, pushing his relationship with Allura to the very point where she does have to let him down will make it blatantly clear that Lance does like girls, solid, and allow him to be very stark bi representation of he does then move on to Keith (this would also make Keith good LGBT rep). But if Lance’s whole romance revolves around Allura, then we don’t get bi Lance. I’m not saying that a bi character has to end up in a same sex relationship to be bi, but if we want that rep in the limited time we have left, he needs to build a stronger relationship with a character he’s already got a history with, and I don’t think there’s time for him to go from Allura, to Keith, and back to Allura again. And even if he is bi and with Allura, noting that in some small, insignificant way is going to be extremely out of character because if Lance is bi, it’s going to be a struggle for him to deal with that, given his history. 

Or maybe he’s dealing with it and that on top of missing Keith on top of dealing with his feelings for Allura is what’s making him so depressed. 

The point I’m trying to make here is that if we want LGBT rep in the show, we’re running out of options. And if they go the Allurance route, those of us that were told we’d be getting LGBT rep are either screwed or not getting the good rep deserved on that kind of statement. 

People say Klance is dead, but truth is, the only reason it seems that way is because Keith has been gone. And the whole time he’s been gone, Lance has been a sad, pathetic mess in all of his alone time, be it about Allura or other things. Part of me doesn’t want to give the writers that kind of credit, but then I look at what they did with Pidge’s story, Keith’s, Shiro’s, and Allura’s, and I want to believe they have good stories left for Hunk and Lance. I want to believe they’re not going to leave Lance’s romance as cliche and cheap as it comes across in season 6. I want that to be a hurdle to be overcome, not the promise of much the same in the future. 

At this point, I’m more interested in Klance because I want the promise they made to be true, because I don’t want to have been baited like I have so many times before. Because Keith has said solidly that Shiro is his brother and so there are only so many relationships left to bank on.

I love Klance, but I loved it outside the canon even when I used the canon to support it. But now I’m caught in the middle unsure whether I dare hope for it because it’s all there is left to hope for, or if I accept that the LGBT rep isn’t going to happen before I have the chance to get screwed over again for the millionth time. 

So do I ship Klance? Truth is, I don’t know how to feel about it anymore.

I’m just so tired.

How did you discover the show?

I had another blog before for another fandom, and at some point I saw people posting art for it and thought it looked interesting. Then I asked my friend if I should watch it and he straight up said no lmao. Then I kind of watched it just to spite him whoops

Was it love at first sight or did it take you a while to get into the the show?

I came in late to the game (like, I made this blog a few weeks before season 5 aired) but once I actually discovered the show I loved it immediately. 

Do you have a favorite episode?

The Blade of Marmora bc it is highkey what got me really into Sheith. Also it’s just a really cool journey for Keith with finally finding knowledge on his heritage, and with him being my favorite character from the start it was fun to watch. Along the same lines I also love Reunion (the only episode to make me cry to date) and Bloodlines. Pidge and her family pull my heartstrings.

Do you have a favorite Paladin?

Keith and Shiro have become super tied for me. Maybe Shiro (pre-s3) as a paladin himself because his growth with his lion specifically was huge and exciting and I loved their dynamic so much.

Do you have a favorite Lion? (If it’s different from your fav Paladin, why?)

I really like Blue, actually. I feel like if I were a paladin that’s who I would end up with. She’s emotional, empathetic, and motherly, and I love her. Also uhhh hell yeah for water/ice based magic

Do you have a favorite Villian?

I don’t talk about her much but Axca!! I feel like they have a lot more in store for her in upcoming seasons. Her interesting build-up with Keith can be interpreted in so many different ways and I can’t wait to see how it pans out, whether they be related or if they just form a silent type of fondness and respect for each other through battle. Also she’s just a badass on her own.

Dude I love all the Blades so much and I am constantly stuck between “Stop. Killing. My. Bois.” and “What??? But none of them died?? Idk,, What? You’re talkign about???? Keith is hanging out w Thace and Ulaz and Antok as we Speak”

How/Why did you join the fandom?

I really liked Voltron and loved all the meta, fanart, and fanfics for it so I made a deliberate decision to go against the better judgement/outside perspective of both myself and my friend, who warned me right from the start of what a mess it could be. I actually almost steered clear tbfh. But now I’m here, and I’m staying for a bit, and I’ve found that once you learn to create a space of peace for yourself in a fandom then it doesn’t matter what else is going on. You just enjoy stuff regardless! 

Care to share your favorite headcanon?

Ooo I always see a lot that are super cool but I’m really bad at thinking of my own. I like the idea of Axca and Keith being related, though I tend to like going the half-sibling route instead of full sibling. Mostly because of Axca’s coloring and horns (?) not looking wither Galra or human, ya know? But she still looks like she could be Krolia’s daughter. I also really like HCs with Lance’s name reflecting his Cuban heritage. Especially one that I read about how L.A.N.C.E could be an acronym for his full Cuban name. I know it was a specific blogger who talked about this but I can’t remember who, so if anyone knows feel free to lmk. 

What do you think is the best part of the show?

I really love the art and the world-building. I absolutely love all of the aliens and their planets, and how in-depth everything seems to be. I also like the character development that we see, along with the diversity of race, gender, mental health, physical disabilities, etc.

Any hopes and wishes for future episodes / seasons?

I may be one of the only ones, but I actually really really want a fight scene between Shiro/Kuro and the other paladins. Not because I don’t want things to end well for Shiro, but I just think that with Haggar’s experiments they HAVE to be leading to that. If not, I feel like there’s no point of having a compromised Shiro in the first place. What kind of a plot device is “things are starting to look kind of iffy, maybe even bad, but don’t worry nothing is really going to go wrong they’ll fix it before anything exciting happens?” Also I just like to be tortured by the most emotional shit you can imagine. Like imagine Keith having to fight a messed up Shiro that he KNOWS is messed up, and he doesn’t want to but he has to? Just the amount of shit I need to be so emotional that I forget about the real world and all of its real problems. Perfect. Angst with an eventual happy ending is my kink. 

Do you think you’ll stick it out until the end of the show?

I can’t imagine not sticking it out to the end. Things are just going to escalate from here and I don’t want to miss a second.

What are your favorite Otome games? Who are your favorite Otome bachelors?

Honestly, how much time do we have? Because I could be here all day answering this one…But in all seriousness, I’ll try and keep it to a reasonable size.

Favorite otome games covers a pretty wide range because I play a lot of games. Not just mobile but PC, and not just imported but English VN as well.

My fav otome apps though, as a whole, are probably SLBP and Ikemen Sengoku. They’ve got some of the better writing amongst translated games, and some of my game biases. Guilty pleasure is totally Star Crossed Myth - half of that game is so problematic but I love it anyways. I also enjoy Lovestruck by Voltage, their English-originating game with a bazillion stories and a lot of inclusive characters.

My fav otome bachelors…this is hard. We all know I’m Mitsunari trash, with a heaping side of Ieyasu, but that’s not all. When it comes to other games:

Ikemen Sengoku -> Oda NobunagaEven though his MC occasionally makes me want to bang my head against a wall, I love how sensual Nobu’s route is, and how he changes believably as a character over the course of their relationship. He’s alpha without being a dick, and everything he does has real, grounded motivation. And when he finally falls for the MC, he’s the biggest sweetest bundle of hardass warlord you could ever ask for.

In Your Arms Tonight -> Shohei Aiba & Soji HigashiyamaBoth of these characters sort of fill the ‘carried a torch forever’ trope, but they approach it very differently. Aiba is your coworker and has loved and supported you forever as basically your best friend. He’s self-deprecating, funny, very beta, and hopelessly hopelessly in love with you. He’s also selfless, and willing to do whatever it takes to make the MC happy, no matter the cost to himself.

Soji was the little brother of your high school boyfriend, and while Aiba is perfectly content playing second fiddle his whole life Soji wants nothing to do with you. He’s cold, silent, difficult to read and he’s moved on (or so he thinks) but in the end he also winds up clearly selfless and willing to do whatever he thinks will be best for the MC. Also, bonus points for the cheesy and yet still charming Ghost-movie-inspired scene where he teaches you how to make a clay pot.

Love, Lies, and a Heist -> Logan BradleyLogan, oh Logan. Let me sing the praises of this underappreciated game from Cybird - another one they seem to have let languish but what they’ve got out is wonderful. It’s a pay-per-route game, set in the same universe as Midnight Cinderella, only later. Think 1920s, 1930s perhaps. Logan Bradley is the arrogant prick that heads up a rival noble family, and through shenanigans the MC ends up  working in his house as part of an agreement between the both of them. Think Beauty and the Beast, the wretched prince with no understanding of love who learns the error of his ways, with a light sprinkle of dom/sub kink. It has smut, it has bickering, it has a tsundere Figuring Shit Out oh so deliciously. I love it and him, top 5 husband for sure.

I don´t know what to think about Seb being in "I, Tonya". I one hand I´m happy he is working in a highlight proyect and co-staring with Margot Robbie is great. But I rememeber this scandal, I was in highschool and all the boys have "the infamous video" on VHS. Still merry xmas from frozen Europe.

Meanwhile Sebastian Stan disapoints me with his career choices. Other of my fav actors Andrew Gafield is proving there is life, and better one, outside Marvel comic superheroes. He is having raves and award noms for his role in “Hacksaw Ridge” and other great role in Martin Scorsese´s “Silence”. I wish Sebastian had the same good sense in choosing the films he works in, instead of accepting everything they offer him in order to continue working on something no matter what. Better be selective. Fewer movies but better movies, dear Sebastian.

Don't think Seb is going to get typecast I mean he has several other movies coming out including I'm not here where he plays a dad plus several years on his contract to play Bucky. I think The Bronze is the only other movies hes played a similar role

I mean, I hated The Bronze and am not excited about I, Tonya-- but to say Seb's pigeonholed into those roles? After two roles? Come on. I, Tonya, is supposed to be an edgy comedy, so who knows how they're going to treat the character? Again: not excited, but not wringing my hands going "woe is Seb's career!"

I'm looking forward to I, tonya. Its supposed to be an excellent script, and he's working with good people. A lot of great actors played some horrible characters. But thats why its called ACTING. Its clear to me that Seb enjoys a challenge and isn't afraid of a character that is dark, or devious. Or, as we've seen in previous, gay (and lots of actors are). He's an actor that isn't going to go the boring rom-com route. I, tonya might not end up being good, but I applaude him taking on a risk

Wait a sec, films that Seb has played an "abusive misogynist" role? The new one, probably. The Bronze, a jerk but not much worse then the films lead character. We've Always Lived in a Castle? A gold digging creep, ok. And then? The Marvel films, I'm Not Here, The Martian, Logan Lucky, I'm Dying Up Here, Rikki & The Flash, Political Animals, Kings.? Seems like a lot of different types. I can easily name 10 actors who have won oscars for playing horrible characters in film.

Although Seb tends to play characters that are jerks, he does a pretty good job at calling his own characters out. He said during his bronze press tour that Lance was an asshole. That doesn't personally make Seb or Chris a terrible person.

Excellent example, Gifted is perfectly suited for that type of thing, while Tonya's husband is not. I really like the campy sound of I, Tonya. Also, this is the first time (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that Seb's gonna be playing a real person!! That's so exciting, I'm surprised more people are not intrigued by that :)

I don't get how Seb is pigeonholed, he hasn't played *that* many jerks? An actor may land a role because they look the part, but they're not *actually* like the character! It's called *acting* - they pretend to be something or someone they're not!

I don't think Seb will be typecast at all. He started off with sort of a troubled gay youth typecast and has moved past that. He's had small parts but I think they're pretty varied and he's building a pretty good diversity of roles. As an actor I don't think he's purposely trying to be skeevy or misogynistic and it's obviously not him the person. It's just another challenge to play and create. Also Chris Beck 4 life!! :) :)

Re: I, Tonya. I remember the hoopla before and during the Olympic Games in -94, and I think it could be interesting. I mean, assholes can be fascinating characters, and Seb is a good actor. Why should he only do good guy roles? They can be SO boring!

It was me who submited the post about being worried about Seb pigeonholed in “nasty roles”. Of course I was no talinkg about Bucky or Beck. But Lance and his role in “I Tonya” and his role the Castle movie, according to the book his role is another abusive man. And it´s supposed his role in “I´m no here” is an psycho. And also his role in “Logan Lucky” is douchebag. I think there is a pattern.

Of course I know Seb isn´t like his roles. But for long time everybody mixed-up his role in Gossip Girl. In an article in Vanity Fair the called him “bad boy” and “rakish”. We as fan know he isn´t like that. But I´m simply wondering why directors and producer offer him nasty roles. If they see him this way.

Of course for him as actor is more challenging the baddie roles. And for my as spectator I apreciate his work. No, I haven´t any romantic feelings for him. I´m not a fangirl.t

I don't know why some ppl are so dramatic about Seb's fandom. I think except for the character in the Covenant, he's never played a total evil/abusive guy before, why are you so sure that his fans will glorify his character in I Tonya? Ppl didn't woobify his character in Bronze, right? He's just a sexy douche to them. And I Tonya seems like a mockumentary style dramedy, I don't think that's what Lifetime movies are like? Please just calm down, stop with the fandom fortune telling and policing.

Correction they are going on 4years together. Rita and sebs have been dating since late 2013 and yes Rita was with him on Christmas at his mothers house. Yup still together.

Interesting fact sebastian good friend reallymej was his assistant on marvel they followed each other on ig margarita follows her and she followed then she unfollowed Margarita for almost a year until a few weeks ago she followed marinara again and now reallymej unfollowed Margarita and sebastian hum interesting something went down.

Actually, Sebastian and Margarita were photographed from behind walking together on 12/26, so they've been seen together very recently. And he's very regimented about liking everything she posts on IG, which he doesn't do for anyone else, so I think its not meaningless. I don't know if she does the same for him since I don't follow her. I think the biggest red flag with them is that she's never around with his friends at all, and he seems really close to them.

I’m moving this from my main blog to here! Also, I’ve added in a few games that barely fit the definition because if you like the otomes I play, you’ll probably enjoy these. Anything that gives you an option to romance someone but also fucks with your mind is fair game in my book.

1. What is your favourite otome(s)? Nameless, Amnesia: Memories, Mystic Messenger, Hakuoki. I haven’t played a ton because I don’t own a vita, but those really have stood out. I also really liked DRAMAtical Murder, though I didn’t have a particular favorite route.

2. What is your least favourite otome(s)? Pretty much any mobage. I’m not a fan of the F2P structure or the lack of interesting plots in most of them. Exceptions would be some Shall We Dates which I found tolerable enough to play a route of (THE NIFLHEIM+, Scarlet Fate+).

3. What is your favourite route(s)? I play purely for that WTF moment when the game goes off the rails so: - 707 (Mystic Messenger) - Both V & Ray/Saeran’s routes are pretty darn good too. - Ukyo (Amnesia: Memories) Actually almost all of the routes are great. - Tei (Nameless) His probably goes off the rails the most of all the boys. - Robin Hood (Ozmafia!) Maybe not a total fav but VERY WTF since I played it before knowing a lot about him. - Okita Souji is probably my fav of the Hakuoki bunch.

4. What is your least favourite route(s)? - Kent (Amnesia: Memories), the only boring route. - Zen (Mystic Messenger), he’s so annoying I JUst CANT. - I found a lot of Hatoful Boyfriend routes lacking, but stuck it out for BBL. - The transferred ends to Caramia (Ozmafia!) kind of bother me. It’s not exactly character assassination but I don’t like him sitting around plotting to win you over, especially against Axel.

5. How much money do you think you’ve spent on otomes? I really do not want to think about that number. Cheritz alone has at least $100 from me and Idea Factory another $60, with more to be spent when the second half of the Hakuoki revamp hits.

6. How many otomes have you played? I’d estimate 20 if you count mobages I’ve completed at least one route for. I have an ongoing list in my #emberplays link.

7. Do you prefer male or female love interests? The whole specific otome industry (so true otomes, no bishojo entries) isn’t really marketed to having female LI, and when they do they’re usually pretty bland. I can’t answer this question because I’ve only really ever seen male LIs, so if I had as many female LIs to compare to I could make an actual judgment.

tl;dr female LIs rarely exist.

8. If you could make any LI in real life so you could date them, which would you pick and why? I’m trying to think of someone both well-adjusted and one I could stand:  - Jumin’s particulars mesh with mine, but I don’t think he’d like me.  - Lance is pretty solid, but also probably wouldn’t like me. - Ukyo (not Ura Ukyo) from Amnesia: Memories was a good bean. - Heishi from Norn9 is truly a good bean. Maybe him. - I don’t do clingy shotas, tsunderes just aren't a good idea to fall for IRL, Casanova-types bother me with their narcissism, and the boys I go after usually would be dangerous to my health.

Perfect would be 707 if he figured out his shit. Funny, not clingy, and with a bit of a mysterious past. Not as overdramatic as Red, but just as sweet and a bit troll-y. I’m playing through Code:Realize and I’m hoping maybe Lupin is this???

9. Have you ever cried while playing an otome? If so, who’s route(s) made you cry? - UKYO MY POOR BOY LET ME HUG YOU ;_;  I was in tears. - Yuri (Nameless) made me cry ngl. I ended up really liking him despite usually hating characters with his personality. - A fair amount of Hakuoki routes even though I KNEW. Saito’s for some reason with the way he was treated made me. - I may have shed a tear during one of Kyrie’s bad endings and the grand finale too. My other poor boy ;_;  - Also I don’t know what was going on when I played DD but I cried during Robert’s route???

10. Top favourite LIs based on personality? 707, Jumin, Tei, Kyrie, Scarlet, Ukyo, Ikki, Okita Souji, Shuu Iwamine, Damien, Heishi, Masamune Date from Ikemen Sengoku (yes, that much i played through a CYBIRD mobage lol).

I was surpised at how much I liked the bunnies from Dandelion and disliked the cats, considering my preferences. Go figure.

11. Top favourite LIs based on visual design? Ukyo, 707, Kyrie, everyone in THE NIFLHEIM+ and Code:Realize. Also Nightshade and Hakuoki are really pretty if you want some guys in traditional clothing.

12. What is your favourite plot(s) from an otome game? Overarching plots I really enjoyed all Cheritz otomes. I think they really have a knack for hiding how crazy their stories get and sucking you into their games. I’d say Nameless is the least convoluted and best paced, and probably holds the crown as my favorite otome thusfar. The overarching plot of Amnesia” Memories is great too, as well as the individual stories. The tension in every route except Kent’s (esp. Toma’s route) was top notch. Also very WTF when you find out why things are they way they are. I definitely cried at the end.

I really liked the BBL route and explanation of the events in Hatoful Boyfriend. I was really not expecting that from a game about dating birds.

Notable additions who may not make the cut are: Doki Doki Literature Club has a PHENOMENAL PLOT. And if Joseph’s cult ending mined from DDADDS is true, that might also be a high contender. I have so many issues with how information is given to you in OZMAFIA! but goddammit did it have a great actual plot buried underneath everything and tons of story arcs going on. Like WOW was not expecting 80% of that and how serious it got.

13. Do you name the MC your real name or a nickname? I learned from Ozmafia! to NOT rename the MC, lol. Sometimes I do though.

14. What kind of LI would you like to see in future otomes? Some nonbinary and/or trans LIs handled well would be great. I suppose that's why I love Damien (DDADDS) so much. 

ALSO FEMALE YANDERES. Actually, just more female LI’s in general. I think this is especially egregious after seeing the disparity between how you interact with boys and Pashet (Ozmafia!) and the boys and Jaehee (Mystic Messenger).

15. Which LI do you think you’re most like? I’d be interested in what people think, because I honestly have no idea. I see parts of myself in lots of characters but never one I wholly looked at and said YES I IDENTIFY WITH YOU SO MUCH so I dunno. It would be interesting to see how this answer changes.
