I realized that, like bird knowledge, I might've been overestimating what's reasonable to assume everyone knows about local venomous insects
#the person behind the yarn#spider tw#bug tw#my brother asked me to get a spider he described as 'the biggest spider you've ever seen' out of the garage#and I was like yeah sure of course. it won't be the biggest spider I've ever seen but sure#(I have previously caught a tarantula but do not currently live in tarantula territory)#it was a black widow! not super big#and also. a black widow!!! the most recognizable spider!#it was not belly-up so the hourglass was not immediately visible but also#it's a black widow and I thought the body shape was pretty distinctive
