when itto had reached adulthood, he swore he would never have a child. “they don’t like me. i scare them,” was always his reasoning anytime anyone would ask the male why he hadn’t had a child yet, like the rest of the adults his age had. while it was an honest answer to their question, it was also a lie.

deep down, itto had always wanted a child. someone he could raise, protect, and feel that fatherly love many speak of for the first time. itto truly craved the feeling of having a family; of having a couple of children, maybe even a wife he could protect and show his love to.

he knew his dreams would be achieved the day he had met you. it had been a stormy day in inazuma, itto had been deep in the forest, picking at various flowers, and patches of grass out of pure boredom. you had entered into the forest, cold and dripping wet with rain, a basket filled with various flowers in your hands.

eyes widening, itto shook his head, hair swishing around rather wildly with his movements. “no! no-, i meant..how did someone like me create something so innocent- it’s like-, i’m a dark rainy day, as somehow she’s like a little ray of sunshine, that’s beaming through the dark clouds, if that makes sense.”

in a sense, you could understand what itto meant. slowly, you sat up in bed, holding your daughter close and quietly shushing her as she began to fuss from the movement, you slid down to the edge of the bed, sitting down right beside of itto. you gazed up at the tall form of your husband for a few seconds before you began to speak.

“itto, hold your hands out for me.” itto did just that. once his hands were held out, you slowly handed the baby over to him. laying your head against his shoulder, you watched intently as itto almost instantly brought his daughter to his chest, holding her carefully with a worried look in his crimson eyes.

“is she crying, itto?”

“no-..”

“you’re not a dark rainy day itto, you’re a sunny beautiful day. you bring sunshine wherever you go, ya know? you bring out the best in people. even though so many have wronged you, you still stood up for others; saved others, and kept many of the people of inazuma safe.” you spoke quietly. “you’ve made me so happy, ya know? you’re my sunshine, itto-..and you helped me create a little sunshine of our own, who will one day be just as amazing her papa.”

tears welled up in itto’s vision. he turned his head to gaze at you as he choked out a quiet sob. “…you’re my sunshine, y/n-“ he sniffled quietly.
