Tumblr media
You woke up to laughter. You sat up slowly and looked around. You felt a sudden pain in your neck and groaned. What happened?
You looked around the room and gasped when you saw the Orginal hybrid, Klaus Mikealson. He was talking on the phone and seemed to be enjoying himself. He noticed your conciousness and smirked.
“I have to go. Y/n just woke up. I’ll see you later,” he said and put his phone in his pocket.
“Took you long enough, love. How are you feeling?” He asked and walked over.
You shook your head and got up off the bed. You ran to the door, but Klaus got there first. He put his hand around your neck and pushed you against the door. You gasped for air and tried to pry his hand off your neck, but of course, it didn’t work.
“Now, now, little Y/n. Don’t act this way. I just gave you the best gift you could possible imagine. You are a hybrid now. You can live forever! As long as you do what I say, of course I don’t plan on losing you like I lost that Lockwood boy and my other hybrids,” Klaus snarled at you.
“Don’t you have... other hybrids?” You gasped between his strong hold.
“Yes, I do. But I want more. I still want to rule the world. And you will help me, deal? Remember, if you say no, I’ll just kill you,” Klaus smirked.
You nodded rapidly and he let go of you. You made your way to the bed and sat down.
“What do you mean I’m going to help you?” You asked.
“You will be my right hand man. My partner in crime. My hybrid buddy,” he explained.
“Oh,” you said. You looked down at your hands sadly. You realized that you were never going to have a normal life again. Not like it was normal the past few years, but you were human and happy. You had friends that were your family. You were even close to having a boyfriend. Now you were going to be Klaus’s little pet.
But you knew you being turned into something would’ve been inevitable. With all the crazy stuff going around, you wanted go protect yourself, and being a vampire was probably the right way to go. You didn’t want it right now, though.
“Don’t be so disappointed, little one. I’ll treat you well, I give you my word,” Klaus said, interrupting your thoughts.
You nodded slowly. “Can I at least say goodbye to my friends?”
Klaus tilted his head and thought hardly for a moment, “I suppose. C’mon.”
You followed Klaus out of the bedroom. Knowing your life would change forever.
A Few Months Later
It had been 6 months since you had been turned by Klaus. In these 6 months, you have managed to lose almost all of your friends, adapted to the hybrid life, and manage to fall in love.
The only friends you had now were Stefan Salvatore. He kept in contact with you because he knew you were better than this. He knew this wasn’t your fault and this was Klaus’s. He wasn’t going to throw away the amazing friendship you two had developed, even if you were running around with a killer.
You had managed to make new friends. Elijah and Rebekah Mikealson. They were Klaus’s siblings. Elijah was like a big brother to you and Rebekah was the only other girl you had in your life. So, naturally, you became best friends.
You had actually enjoyed being with Klaus. You didn’t think you would, but overtime, you two grew fond of each other. Especially you. You had managed to fall in love with the man who changed your life.
Rebekah knew about your crush and had tried to hint to Klaus, but he neer seemed to notice. But he did, he just tried his hardest to not. Why? Well, he happened to be in love with you, too. But he was afraid that you were only in love with him because of the sire bond. He was truly in love with you, though. Down to your gorgeous eyes, bubbly personality, witty remarks, and your amazing body, he couldn’t see how anyone couldn’t love you.
You didn’t know this, though. You just thought he liked you as a friend and family. It broke your heart when he seemed to not notice you and Rebekah’s attempts to get him to hopefully love you, too. Even if it did hurt, you loved him nonetheless. You didn’t know if it was his fluffy hair, or the way he painted, his devilsih smirk, smart mouth, or hot body, but you definitely knew it wasn’t because of the sire bond. Sure, he controlled your actions but not your feelings.
One day, he had brought a girl home. You and Klaus’s home. It had broken your heart so bad you had managed to find yourself at the Salvatore Boarding House.
You knocked on the door, hoping Stefan would answer and not Damon. The door opened and you were relieved that Stefan had opened the door. He was shocked but his eyes softened when he saw your swollen eyes and red nose.
“Can I come in?” You sniffled.
He nodded and rushed you in. You both went up to his room and you cried on his shoulder, telling him all about your problems.
“Klaus is a real ass, Y/n. If he doesn’t see how awesome you are, then screw him. Don’t waste your time on someone who’ll only treat you like a pet. I’m sure plently of guys will love to date you,” Stefan said and rubbed your back for comfort.
You shook your head and wiped your eyes with a tissue Stefan had given you.
“But I want him, Stefan. I need him. I want to be more than his “hyprid buddy”. And I know you think this is because of the sire bond, but it’s not. I love him,” you said.
Stefan opened his mouth but a voice from the outside stopped him.
“What the hell is she doing here?”
You looked at the doorway and saw Damon.
“She’s having a bad night, Damon. She needed a friend,” Stefan explained.
“Get her out of the house. I don’t want to her traitor face,” Damon growled and stomped off.
You cried more and Stefan hugged you. “I’m sorry about him. It isn’t your fault you work with Klaus.”
You nodded and stood up. “I think I’m going to go, though. Thank you, Stef. I really appreciate it.”
He stood up with you and smiled sadly. Even if you were on the enemy’s team, he still cared for you. You two walked to the door and you hugged Stefan tightly.
“I’m always here for you,” he said.
You smiled and kissed his cheek. “Thank you.”
He nodded and you walked out of the door. Your stomach grumbled and you decided to get a bite to eat. You found a girl walking to her car and went to feed on her when you were slammed against a wall.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing by running away?” A familiar British accent snarled at you.
“I went to go on a walk,” I said.
“I told you to stay at home.”
“No, you didn’t. You haven’t told me that for the last four months. You and I know I can go anywhere I please,” you spat.
“Shut up, little one. I know you went to see Stefan Salvatore. You know you aren’t allowed to see him.”
“That isn’t true. But I’m glad I did see him, we were able to catch up and he let me cry and show emotions. Something you don’t let me do.”
Klaus’s eyes softened and his heart broke as you told him you cried. His grip loosened on you.
“Why were you crying, love?” He asked.
“None of your business,” you mumbled.
“It is too my business. Now tell me!” He shouted.
“You brought a girl home!” You shouted back.
“Why did that make you cry?”
“Because I.. I’m in love with you, you idiot!” You exclaimed. “And it hurt me to see you with someone else. Even if you’re not mine.”
Klaus backed away from you, stunned. You two stared at each other for a few minutes before you decided to go back home.
“I’ll see you back at the house,” you muttered and walked home.
Once you got home, you cried some more. You had just told him your biggest secret and all he did was stand there. The love of your live stood there and made you look like an idiot.
You decided to go to bed, though. Before you did, you got a blood bag from the fridge and drank to satisy the hunger you had earlier.
You walked into your bedroom and flopped down on the bed. You managed to drift off before you heard something drop from downstairs. It awoke you and you hurried to see what it was. You were annoyed to see Klaus and a broken vase by his feet. He had flowers and a teddy bear in his hand and you were more irritated. How dare he bring home gifts for his new girlfriend while he knew you were in the house upset and lonely.
“Y/n! I’m sorry,” Klaus said and held the gifts for you.
“Why are you giving these to me?” You asked and took the gifts.
“Because, they’re for you.”
“Why?”
His eyes landed on yours and he touched your cheek. Your skin burned and you felt butterflies erupt in your stomach.
“I’m in love with you, too. I have been for a while. I’ve just been afraid that you only love me because of the sire bond,” he confessed.
Your jaw dropped and you felt like you were having a heart attack.
“You do?”
Klaus smiled and leaned foward, “I do.”
You set the bear and flowers down on a table and hugged him. You wrapped your arms around him tightly and he did the same.
“I love you so much, Klaus. You don’t know how long I’ve wanted you to know,” you said into his neck.
“It’s not because of the sire bond is it?” Klaus asked. You could hear the fear in his voice. You smirked and pulled away to look at his face.
“I promise. I love you for you. I always have and I always will,” you said.
With that, Klaus put his lips on yours. You melted into the kiss. You snaked your hands up to his hair as he put his arms around your waist. You pulled back after a while and rested your forhead on his
You were the happiest girl in the world.

Part 7a
Summary: Interesting developments in between kisses and sake...
Warning: teasing, drinking, sexy thumb sucking..
suimasen - waiter & Arigatou - thank you
Right, before you crossed the street you felt as Jerome took your hand. Tucking, some hair behind your ear, you smiled over at him. His smiled was just as warm.
“We’re going, where we met?”
“For a little while.”
Happily, you quickened your pace.
“I just had an idea.” He whispered close to your ear as the two walked in.
“Oh?” You turned to him.
You felt his hands on your shoulders, “I don’t think you need this any longer.” He pulled gently on your cardigan.
“You’re right, it is.” You beamed, then you quickly took it off. Your heart picked up speed, you felt terribly exposed but it was kind of exciting.
Walking, further in Jerome led you to one of the private booths. Unease and excitement churned in your stomach. You almost immediately heard his words, “What if I touched you like this...perhaps after the screens were rolled down” You couldn’t handle that, would he really do that? Would you let him? All you you knew was your heart fluttered with excitement at the thought.
Easily, he slipped out of his loafers, and climbed up and made himself comfortable. Before, turning his attention to you, he reached over and pushed the button for the suimasen. Turning, he watched as you pulled your boots off, soon you placed your cardigan over them. Climbing, the steps, you hesitantly wobbled trying your best to balance yourself but you still fell, this time onto your knees beside him.
A loud good-natured chuckle, came from Jerome. “Aww, little dove you were able to negotiate a little bit better.”
You blew some hair out of your face. “Yes. At least I didn’t face plant.”
He held his arm out for you to get closer. “Come here.”
You closed the short distance but sat back on your ankles as the suimasen arrived. Your stomach knotted and unknotted still wondering, if was going to fulfill his naughty promise.
Once again, you enjoyed the timber his voice took as his accent mingled with the Japanese he spoke. Soon, she was bowing and bringing down the shades. He said something, you were positive that he asked for some sake, but you were not sure.
“Oh, Jerome I have to tell you.” You gushed, crawling over to him, you hung a little over him, smiling down at him. “I love how you sound speaking Japanese.”
“Thank you, my little sweet. You have been away from me long enough. Come here, I have a story to share.”
“A story?” Excitement, continue to prickle at you.
Easily like before your curled up in the crook of his arm. You loved how easily and comfortable you fit against him.
“Not long ago, I met a very beautiful girl. Who when I saw made me very flustered. I instantly wanted to share with her all my knowledge and I was eager to know about her as well.”
He paused, suimasen had returned with a small tray and you knew already it was a bottle soke with two small cups. “Arigatou.” She made the first pour, you noticed before she disappeared.
He offered, “Sit up little dove.” You raised yourself up on your elbows. Gently held the cool porcelain cup to you lips and you sip and enjoyed the plumb flavored sake. It was beyond good.
With a sigh, you watched as he had his. The sake warming, your stomach just so. He put the small cups back onto the tray before he brought his attention back to you.
There was a shadow of a smile. “I’ll continue with the story.” His voice trailed off, his eyes flickered to far off spot before falling upon you once again. “It was not long before I discovered that like all beautiful things my time with her would be a short time. I also learned that sometimes with beauty comes a fragility. This beauty crumbled before my eyes like a sand castle when hit by an ocean wave.” As he spoke, you drawn in by his voice and the sensation of his finger tips as they caressed your cheek. “You are that girl. Like the season of the cherry blossoms, eventually you will have to leave. We have already lost so much time. I want the rest of our time to be the best. And my dear,” his thumb grazed your jaw, I hope to make you as strong as a rose.”
Softly, then he drew you into a kiss. You trembled under his breath that softly tickled you which was followed by his lips. No one ever spoke so tenderly or sweet. He pulled back. “I don’t think, I could ever tire of your kisses.” He kissed you again, happily you deepened it. You wanted him to know you agreed without even having to speak a word.
“Delicious.” He murmured, “We need some more of this wonderful sake.” He held the cup to your lips once again. Only this time a small drop escaped and his thumb caught it and smoothly moved over your bottom lip.
Easily, you had grown delightfully breathless as anticipation grabbed ahold of you. Knowing you were subject to his whim, a gentle ache blossomed in you.
Unable to stop yourself, you captured his thumb in your mouth. You dragged your tongue across it, ever so gently before you sucked on it.
He made a soft sound, his eyes closing. “Why aren’t naughty.” He whispered as his eyes opened, a smirked curl his lips. “Do you think you take more?”
Gently, he eased more of his thumb into your mouth as it grazed against your tongue, the wetter you grew. Easily, you took more of it. Your tongue continued to lap at it, and fluttered a little against it before sucking on it some more. You had not realized, what was supposed to be playful had turned incredibly erotic.
He made a deeper, yet soft sound. Taking a breath, you let him pull his thumb gently from your mouth.
“My...my...” He had his own cup of the sake then. He poured what was left.
Flushing, you finished yours and he soon finished his. Sigh, felt the warmth of him and the sake envelop you. Though as gasp escaped your lips as he dragged his hand down your side before slipping under your cami. His fingers caressed you gently, at what he could touch.
“After, that I need to feel you.” His hand moving over you. Though as you felt his hand touching, he drew you in for a kiss. It was hungry which you answered with your own hunger allowing your fingers entwine his those chestnut strands.
*****
His heart beat hard, as he kissed you. In his life, he had only a small handful of lovers but it was you that did this incredibly erotic act. One, he could have never imagined. Damn, he mused he could take you right now. He would wait, and draw this out for the two of you. An eagerness, grabbed him as he wanted to move more with you, he knew the perfect place to take you.
He let his hand slid down your hip, he drew you tightly against him. “Y/N, the night is young and there is another place I want to go with you night.”
Your eyes were sparkling and the hue of your flush sprinkled across your cheeks. He relished in seeing that effect on you. A soft sound poured from you, he smirked gently. “Jerome.” You whispered.
He leaned in close, “Do you feel what you’ve done to me?”
You nodded. “Yes.” He watched you swallow.
“You enjoy making me hard don’t you.”
“Yes.” Now, you whimpered the word.
“We’re not even close to when we are going to be intimate tonight, little dove.” He smiled.
******
After, he closed the door of his car he gently pressed you against the cool metal. Lights from the city danced on your face. “You look so beautiful.” Letting his fingers slip through the strands on your hair, he pulled gently back. He kissed and nibbled his way up your exposed throat. He looked down at your then, “We’re going to have some more sake and if the dj is good,” his lips barely touched yours as he spoke. “I want to hold you close and dance with you.”
“Please.” You breathed.
Leaning, against the bar your he continued to keep you nestled close. It was also a good idea since it was practically only standing room. A small bottle and cups are placed before you once again.
You turn in his arms. “Are you trying to make me tipsy?” You asked playfully.
“Maybe?” He smiled as they brought over the warm wash clothes so you and him and could enjoy the sticky rice and mango he ordered.
“I love this tradition.” You leaned against him as you leaned wiped your hands. He smiled, as he felt you kiss his jaw.
“Me too.” He agreed.
*****
As he pulled you to the dance the floor, you listened to beat of the music. Soon, he pulled you close and together you moved. You followed his lead.
The music slowed, so you brought your arms easily around him. With a dip and a twirl from Jerome everyone else melted away as he held you. Your lips met and once again, the two of you were dancing and kissing. Your heart matched the music.
The sake that you had been drinking, let itself be known. You took a misstepped and tumbled into him. He held you fast and steadied you on your shaky legs. “I got you little dove.” Your eyes met and you both broke into a fit of giggles. You hid your face for a moment.
“Oh Jerome...” You had grown breathless once again this even. You were not sure how much of this you could take.
He pulled you close once again. When he did, you pressed kisses against his throat. “Jerome, can we go back to your place?”
He sliding you a look, he danced away from the others. “Why little dove?” The look he gave you made you, squirm where you stood.
“I need you.” You pressed your lips together. “If you take me home, I’ll let you do whatever you want to me.”
A huge smile spread across his face. “Well, you have no idea what I could want.”
You leaned in close again, the sake in your veins making you feel brave. “I want more then your thumb in my mouth.”

The Daughter of a Righteous Man- Chapter 29
Tumblr media
*SEQUEL TO THE LOOK IN HER EYES*
After her husband is drug to Hell, Ava Winchester and her brother in law Sam try their best to do right by Dean and raise her daughter, only to find that good intentions aren’t always enough. Loving someone isnt always enough.
Chapter Twenty-Nine, The Man Who Will Save the World
Ella
About Sixteen Years Later
I sat on the ledge of a dairy billboard, drinking out of a paper bag, in typical small town fashion. "There she is," Claire said, her head poking up from the hole in the platform as she climbed up the latter.
"Here I am," I said sadly, taking another swig from my paper bag. I winced as the cheap vodka burned my throat.
"I don't imagine that's iced tea in there, babe?"
"Nope," I said, the p making a popping sound.
"Your dads worried about you. I can see why." She gestured to the bag. "You know the whole bad girl vibe is kinda my thing."
"You don't own it." I frowned, kicking my legs.
Below me, the town was setting up for their local Halloween celebration. Dad and I always loved it. Scary movies, costumes, candy. Not this year. This year everything seemed to be lacking.
"You okay?"
"No," I said with a sigh, letting the bottle rest between my legs. The Townees were stringing up lights, dropping off hay bales, and carving pumpkins. They looked like miniatures, living their small, easy lives as mine fell through my fingers. "He's gonna die, Claire. He's gonna just let himself be dropped in the fucking ocean. Where's the justice in that?"
She winced and lowered herself next to me. "There isn't any. Life isn't fair. We've always known that."
"But he's always been there. Consistently. And now, what? I'm supposed to just accept that he will be in a box for the rest of my life? The rest of eternity?"
"No," Claire said, lacing her fingers with mine. "You don't have to accept it, but if it's going to happen you shouldn't be wasting your time here. I'd give anything for some more time with my dad, and babe you'll really regret it if you stay up here when you could be with your dad."
She was right, shit. I knew she was. "You're too good to me."
"There's no other way to be with you,” Claire said simply, leaning in to kiss me.
I smiled against her soft embrace, against her watermelon lipgloss. My watermelon lipgloss. "You wearing my makeup?"
"It tastes like you." She smiled widely.
"You're so fucking cute," I said, lacing my fingers into her blonde curls.
"I know." She smirked and kissed me again.
The townees couldn't touch us up here. For a small town in Kansas I didn't get much repulsion from the locals for my extra curricular activities, as my home room teacher liked to describe it. Maybe they noticed the glock Dad had on him at all times. Maybe it was the fact that my home address was basically a fall out shelter. Nobody fucked with us, and I was fine with that.
"You and the boys going to the festival like old times?" Claire asked me.
"Maybe. We haven't really talked about it. Honestly, everything is all Michael all the time."
"You guys need a break. Maybe it'd be good to have some fun. Remember that?"
"Fun,” I said dreamily. "Yeah, you're probably right. Besides, Jack would love the Ferris wheel."
"He's a weird kid, but sweet, ya know, for the Antichrist."
"Claire," I warned. "Don't call him that. Any of us could go dark with what our pasts look like, and if anyone's going to go dark, it sure as shit isn't going to be that little blonde angel."
Claire grinned at me. "There's my girl." She took my chin between her fingers. "Don't let your fire go out, kid. I know things are tough, but you're a Winchester, and if I know anything about that then I know you can figure out anything. And if you can't, then that's what I'm here for."
"I love you,” I whispered, pressing my forehead to hers.
"I love you back."
Sam
Present Day
"The honeymoon suite," Ruby said, pushing through the hotel door. "Is there something you need to tell me, Sam?"
"Just trying to keep off Dean's radar," I said, popping my knuckles. "Now.. can we ... like lets not fuck around here."
"Hey, sweetness, relax,” she said, with an eyebrow raised. She walked to me. "Did you miss me?"
"We just... we need to kill Lilith. This is serious. She came for me once already, and I Wasn't strong enough. I can't make that mistake again," I told her intently.
I couldn't bring the words that I knew were there to my mouth. The ones that would make Dean do worse than lock me up. The ones that would make Ava glad that she didn't choose me. The ones that would make sure I wouldn't ever see my niece again.
I did miss her. I more than missed her. I missed her blood.
A chill ran down my spine as she ran her fingers along my neck. "You want a hit?"
"God, why do you have to call it that?"
"I'm just kidding, Sam. I'm sorry I was gone. I'm sorry Lilith almost got you. You're right, we won't make that mistake again." She tilted her head to the side and brought her knife out from her back pocket.
My mouth watered at the sight of her neck. I could recognize how fucking gross it was. How much I felt like a monster, but there was nothing like feeling it rolling through my veins, pumping and making me stronger. She pressed the blade into her skin with a satisfied sigh. The blood pooled at the wound and I closed my eyes, leaning in. My lips made contact with the pulse on her neck and the heat from her blood entered my mouth and rolled down my throat.
I grabbed the small of her back and pressed her to me. It was wrong. I knew it was wrong and even in that moment I couldn't remember my justification. I couldn't remember why I was doing it, all I knew is that I wanted more, and more than anything, I wanted her.
"Sam,” she murmured, reaching down and taking me in her hand. "I guess you did miss me after all."
I pulled my face away from her throat when the blood stopped flowing, and pressed my mouth to hers, her essence still fresh on my lips.
Dean
Present
"Are you ready?" Ava asked me, her hand on my shoulder. "We don't know what we're going to find behind that door.
"No," I said weakly. "I'm not. What if he's too far gone, Ave? What if he's already a monster?"
"He isn't. No matter what he's done, he isn't a monster. He's Sam."
"Fuck, I hope you're right." I leaned in and pressed an urgent kiss to her lips. She kissed me back, trying to let some good fortune flow from her to me. I needed all the strength I could get. Having her next to me helped. Nothing could've prepared me for what I was about to walk into.
"House keeping." Ava knocked a few times, using an accent I'd never heard before. I smiled a bit, if the circumstances were different I would file that away to use in a roleplay with her, but I was too damn distracted, and the pit in my stomach was growing.
Consuming the amount of blood it would take to kill Lilith would change your brother forever. Most likely, he would become the next creature that you would feel compelled to kill.
Cas' words rang in my head. I'd never forget the look in Sams eyes when I pulled back the lock. He was like an animal in a cage. I feared that Cas was wrong, that he was already that creature. That he wasn't my brother anymore.
Ava eyed me and used the keycard we swiped off the maids cart to push into the room. "Dean, don't," Ava said, seeing the scene before I could. She put out her hand, but I'd already seen. There was no stopping it.
Sammy was lounging in bed, the white sheets fucking covered in blood. Ruby laid in her own underwear, little gashes and bites all over her body. Sams mouth hung open, he looked the way I looked after a big cheese burger or a piece of pie. He looked full. He not only was fucking this demon, but he was drinking her blood and a lot of it.
Sam glanced up at the sound of Ava's voice and quickly wiped his mouth. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and slid back into his underwear. Ruby was up quickly too.
"Stay where you are, bitch. I'd like a word with you," I said, pulling out the demon knife, and pointing it right at Ruby. I wanted to throw up. The scene was grotesque. It was so much worse than I could've imagined.
"Ruby, go," Sam insisted, eyeing her. He had stepped in front of her. He was protecting her. Shielding her.
Ruby turned and slid out through the window, half naked and bloody into the parking lot. I glanced to Ava and she shook her head. A battle for another day. We were here for Sam.
"Sam, you don't have to do this," Ava said gently, taking a step toward him.
"You don't understand. I have to stop Lilith."
"We do understand,” she said, taking another step toward him.
My vision felt fuzzy as I tried to keep my anger in check.
"Dean we can't let the apocalypse happen. You know that. It's up to me. It's all up to me."
"So what?" I growled. "You're just going to be Hell's little alter boy? You're going to be the boy king of the apocalypse? How does that make any sense? Castiel said there's another way, man, and if you hadn't flown the coop you'd know that. But fuck, look at you! You're enjoying this!"
"No I'm not..." Sam said with a wince, pain evident on his face.
"Christ, man. You don't even realize how far you've fallen. What's wrong with you?"
"Dean," Ava warned. "Come on, Sam. He doesn't mean that."
"This has nothing to do with you, Ava," Sam said coldly, turning toward Ave. "You made your choice, so stop trying to pretend like you care who I sleep with."
"I do care, Sam! I care if you're putting yourself in danger."
"Yeah, I'm sure that's it." He tried to flip things on Ava. He was trying to piss me off. It was fucking working.
"Lay off her, man. You're right, this isn't about her. It's about you. I can't believe you're trusting a demon."
"And you're trusting an angel? They haven't exactly been trustworthy, Dean," Sam countered.
"You can't keep doing this! If you keep drinking this shit you're going to be gone. Cas said I can do it so you don't have to! No demon blood required! If you keep drinking this the Sam we know will be no more! Is that what you want?"
"Maybe it is! Maybe this is finally my chance to get out from under your thumb. Out from under Dads! I lost the girl, but at least I can save the fucking world. I'm sure you'd love to take that from me, too. Dean Winchester, everyone's favorite."
I was taken aback. Staring at my not-so-little brother. "Is that really what you think? You think I'm trying to do this for some kind of glory? You think I've got some kind of hero complex? No way! I'm doing this for you! I'm trying to protect you!"
"I'm an adult, Dean. I'm not your responsibility. Look right here." He pointed to Ava who stood with tears in her eyes watching us fight. Seeing Sam the way he was. "That's your responsibility. Let me take care of this. Stop putting your nose where it doesn't belong."
"Doesn't belong? I don't give a shit how old you are, you are my responsibility. You were six months old and Dad put you in my arms and you've been my responsibility ever since. Don't you dare throw that shit in my face. I've been everything to you."
"And now you have an actual kid to take care of," Sam said seriously. "And me?" He slid his jeans on and a shirt. "I have nothing else to lose"
He slipped on his shoes and grabbed the keys to whatever car he was driving. "Now get out of my way."
"You walk out that door, Sammy, and I swear I'm done. I won't look for you. I won't protect you. Nothing."
"Sorry you had to see me like this, Ave," Sam said to her before turning to me. "Bye, Dean,” he whispered before pushing past us and out the door.
Ava
The ride back to Bobby's was the quietest Dean had ever been. There was profound loss on his face, his forehead wrinkled and his mouth in a defined line.
"We will get him back, Dean," I whispered, touching his thigh.
He winced against my touch and shook his head. "Nope. I wasn't lying, Ave. I'm done. I give him his ultimatum and he chose. He walked out that door."
"Dean," I said gently.
He shook his head. "Don't Dean me. This is the end of the discussion, Ava. I don't want to hear you talk about him again. Not while we need to figure out this apocalypse. I know he thinks he can fix it, but it's up to me. He's off the fucking rails. I don't trust him as far as I can toss his giant ass." Dean squeezed the steering wheel, his knuckles white. His jaw was tight and I swore I saw him grinding his teeth as he laser focused on the road in front of him. "The angels are gonna call, and I'm gonna stop Lilith, and I guess I'm going to do it without my brother."
I couldn't blame him. That wasn't the Sam we knew. He was something else all together. His voice echoed in my ears, burning holes in my soul. He said he had nothing left. My best friend, the boy who saved me... the boy who held me when I delivered my baby was gone. He melted before me into something unrecognizable. My heart hurt so fucking bad.
On our way back. I texted Lacey. Thanks again.
Buzz. Ain't no thing, chicken wing.
Buzz. Figure out how to save the world?
Not quite, I typed sadly.
Buzz. It's okay! We believe in you!
She said, sending a selfie with her holding little Nel up. Her fist was in her mouth, but she was smiling.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Dean asked, eyeing me.
I didn't realize I was crying until my screen on my phone was blurry.
I showed him the photo. "She's so beautiful, Dean. I hate what.. um.. he who shall not be named said, but he's right. She's our responsibility. We should be there for her."
Dean smiled weakly and nodded. "Yeah. She is. You both are my responsibility, and I promise I am doing right by you. Nel can't live if there's no world to stand on. It may seem like I'm being reckless, but I promise Ave I'm doing this for her. I'm saving the world so she can have a world to grow up in."
"What if something happens to you?" I asked quietly, pain radiating through me. For the first time in a long time I was asking the questions that I needed to ask, no matter what the answer was.
"Then she will have you. It's never been me. I was never supposed to be a father. Never supposed to be a husband... you fave me that gift. Now let me give you one. Let me give you a safe world to raise our daughter in. It's the least I can do."

Bird Box, 2018 (dir. Susanne Bier)
SPOILER WARNING THERE WILL BE SPOILERS DONT READ IF U HAVENT SEEN IT YET AND WANT TO
[TW: SUICIDE, MURDER, VIOLENCE, BLOOD, GORE]
well fuck its been a while!!  happy new year y’all hope u had a Fun and Safe time!!!  i for one was at a party where we started playing Shrek at exactly 10:39 PM to see if Smash Mouth’s hit song I’m a Believer started playing right at midnight and to my utter disbelief and elation it did!!!  move over times square ball drop a new arbitrary way of celebrating the start of a new calendar year is here and it involves a large green monster with a scottish accent who really loves his onions (#me am i right ladies)
WELL ANYWAY heres a fun new series ive been thinking of starting cause ya girl watches a lot of netflix movies and has many opinions about them.  i think i’ll do a separate post about the whole Netflix Original Film trend in general and how its changed the film industry at a later date but since i just watched the above movie not too long ago i wanted to get all my thoughts out there right fuckin now!!
netflix is without a doubt the OG king of streaming services, they were really the first to get the ball rolling and then dozens of other companies scrambled to latch onto this money train while it was rolling on the tracks full steam (or should i say.... stream EL;KGHS;EKFSH; please end me) ahead.  it started out as a rental subscription service where u could pick out three movies at a time to rent and then they were sent to u in the mail (like blockbuster but now you never have to leave your house ever again to get that sweet sweet rental content).  and then the decision was made to actually start online streaming, no physical DVD’s required!  ISNT TECHNOLOGY GREAT
well whoooo boy this shit swept the nation, people couldnt get enough of such a convenient and relatively affordable service and netflix started really raking in the dough.  and at some point they got rich enough to say “hey fuck it!!!  lets make our own movies baby!!!!”  and here we are now with Netflix Original Movies and TV Shows, which means a new player has entered the movie game in a very novel and innovative way.  why pay money for a movie ticket and leave your house to go to a theater when cool new movies are being released on a subscription service u already own to watch movies you already know and enjoy?  and then u can sit butt-ass naked in ur bedroom alone stuffing ur face with cheese puffs like an insatiable cheddar beast and see something new and fun and interesting
ok so.  Bird Box.  here we have a movie based off of a book (so i guess this also counts as a Book Movies review but I DIGRESS) starring hollywood powerhouse sandra bullock, featuring Supreme Lesbian Overlord Sarah Paulson and Resident Crazy Old Man John Malkovich, directed by a relatively unknown but competent female filmmaker Susanne Bier (who also directed Things We Lost in the Fire in 2007, a moving drama starring Halle Berry).  this one definitely has a lot of proimse compared to what netflix has offered so far in terms of their original movies (im gonna get into Dumplin’ at a later date cause jesus christ what a mess) and i went in with pretty high expectations
did it deliver???  well uuhhhh yeah sort of i guess!!  we got some pretty strong performances from our leading lady bullock who really does deliver it every time, a few strong supporting roles like newcomer Trevante Rhodes of Moonlight fame (his energy on screen is just so compelling and soothing), not overly obnoxious child actors which is really all u can ask for, and overall a solid story.
now heres where i gotta say that i couldnt help comparing this film to another movie of its kind, directed by the notorious M. Night Shyamalan.  y’all remember The Happening?  cause i remember The Happening.  i remember that it was total shit and that the twist was that it was the fucking plants making everyone kill themselves.  the PLANTS.  and i also remember mark wahlbergs dumb-ass confused face that he used in every single shot no matter the context, im AMAZED i remember zoe deschanel in this movie cause she may as well have been one of the killer plants with how little she emoted, and i remember mark wahlberg yelling at a fake office ficus and apparently i was supposed to be scared while watching this clusterfuck.
the way that this movie was described to me by friends who had seen it before me was basically that Bird Box is a slightly better The Happening, and no truer words have ever been spoken.  we basically have the same premise going on here:  unknown force is causing people to off themselves, our lead(s) have to try and find a way to escape this unknown force without even knowing what it really is, and theres some sort of “sanctuary” they gotta try and get to (which is a common plot point in really all apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic films).  now whereas The Happening’s rules for this scenario make entirely no fucking sense (how in the fuck are u supposed to be able to out-run WIND???), Bird Box has some rules for dealing with this Unknown Thing that make slightly more sense.  when u open ur eyes while outside, the chance of the Thing making u kill urself in some horrific way is extremely high, so wear a blindfold when ur outside and keep all windows covered when ur inside.  makes sense!  thats something i can believe and get behind which makes me more immersed in the story!
unfortunately like The Happening there are still some little things that kinda dont make much sense and take u out of it.  apparently some people when they see this unknown entity dont wanna die, but instead find it absolutely beautiful, which makes them want to make everyone else look at it to see how beautiful it is.  and its insinuated that these people are mentally ill or have some sort of psychiatric issue.  i get that this adds more stakes to the situation and ups the ante, but it doesnt really sit well with me that once again, mentally ill people are the villains in a horror-type story.  and i also dont really understand why theyd then wanna go around and make other people see the thing??  unless the thing has them in a mind-control state or something and is making them do its bidding but that seems kind of a weird thing for an all-powerful evil formless entity to do.
and that leads me to the next issue i have with Bird Box.  if ur gonna have an apocalyptic scenario where people do something as serious as kill themselves due to an unknown cause, it almost seems a little cliche and cheesy to have it be some sort of mythical celestial god-like or demon-like entity thats doing the damage.  i actually really liked where The Happening was going with its source of all the chaos being something naturally made, like the Earth deploying some sort of self-preservation mechanism or something.  the idea of that to me is actually loads more frightening than some invisible boogeyman that u cant look at.  and then Shamalamadingdong had to go and make it stupid by saying that it was fucking plants trying to kill people by releasing pheromones or some shit.  like why cant we have the best of both of these??  something naturally-occuring that maybe has even happened before in the planets history (maybe it wasnt a meteor that killed off the dinosaurs after all??), that isnt FUCKING PLANTS, and that doesnt do cheesy shit like make ur eyes turn grey and bloodshot and like whisper to u telling u to take ur blindfold off (i swear that happens multiple times it was pretty silly)
thats another thing, this movie’s tone is all over the place.  there are some moments where a more light-hearted tone is needed to break up the tension, for sure, but it almost as if the writing and dialogue werent really taking this serious of a story as seriously as they should have.  weirdly placed jokes are all over the place, there were some moments where the dialogue made me cringe cause it was so awkward.  bullock’s character gets to have some good breakdown moments which help bring the tone to the level of somberness and despair it should be at, but all the other supporting characters dont really get the same space to process whats happening to them, so it kinda comes off like they arent really affected by, say, their wife throwing herself into a burning car right in front of their very eyes.
overall i’d still say this is a worthwhile watch, especially considering its a netflix movie.  if you’ve ever wanted to see a not-as-horrible version of The Happening that has some deeper metaphorical stuff going on about motherhood and family and shit than this is for you.  the production value is overall pretty solid (though when it comes to cinematography i actually prefer The Happening from an artistic standpoint) and sandra bullock knocks it out of the park.  go check it out if this seems like something thats up ur alley!!
ok bye for now hopefully it doesnt take me six months to write another review but we’ll see!!  my brain is a mystery and time is an illusion HAPPY 20-BI-TEEN Y’ALL
