“ so sleepy . . . So small ! ” ☁️

Boy coming home from school, simply exhausted of his day. He lets his backpack fall to the floor as he toed his shoes off. Today was a good day, but boy was tired. He went to sleep a bit later than he meant to…and his papa always knew. Whoops… Speaking of papa, he is right at the doorway that breaches the hallway of rooms to the living room. His arms are crossed over his chest, yet his expression is always monotonously soft. He beckons his son over with a single curl of his hand towards him, and his boy went easy. He drags his feet over, feeling his head cloud with exhaustion and a sense of smallness. His father knows. He always knows. He wraps his arms around him, pulling him close and cradling his head. He whispers sweet and soft coos, within seconds his boy is giving a soft whine at the coddling. Papa simply chuckled softly, easily picking his baby boy up. “Time for nap, little birdie.” Dada says, and his baby boy whined softly in protest — yet he couldn’t do anything, too tired, as a binky was pressed to his pouty lips. Dada takes him to the nursery, changing and dressing him. Kissing his tummy and feet and hands and face and nose. Baby giggled tiredly, eyes becoming droopy. His eyes began to slowly close as he is now cuddling a plushie, being rocked as he is held close in papa’s lap. Dada hushing him gently. He drifts to sleep, feeling nothing less of loved and whole. ` “Sweet dreams, my little fledgling.”
