As adults, they build up their kingdom of crime on drug dealing and robbery. But Sincere grows weary of the criminal lifestyle and joins a black Muslim religious group. Buns, on the other hand, sinks deeper into criminality and faces serious prison time. The cops offer him a deal, however -- assassinate the head of the Muslim group, and he will go free.

Williams) and Tracy (Nia Long) struggle to adjust to the family matriarch's sudden absence, fall into old rivalries, share memories, and work to maintain the long-standing tradition of Sunday family dinners.
Kirikou and the Sorceress (1998) dir. Michel Ocelot The tiny Kirikou is born into an African village upon which a sorceress called Karaba has cast a terrible spell: the spring has dried up, the villagers are being blackmailed, the men of the village have either been kidnapped or have mysteriously disappeared. Bebe's Kids (1992) dir. Bruce W. Smith In this animated depiction of a calamitous first date, Robin Harris (Faizon Love) hits it off with the gorgeous Jamika (Vanessa Bell Calloway), whom he meets at her boss' funeral. On the ride back, Harris is introduced to her well-behaved son (Wayne Collins), and asked if he wants to go with them to the amusement park the next day. Harris accepts and arrives to find three more children joining them. Jamika is watching her friend Bebe's kids -- which is the beginning of Harris' problems.
Yeelen (1987) dir. Souleymane Cissé
In the 13th century, Niankoro (Issiaka Kane) is born to the shaman Soma (Niamanto Sanogo), who fears his offspring's magical powers. Setting off on a journey to ask his uncle, Djigui Diarra (Ismaila Sarr), for advice, Niankoro uses his abilities to help tribal king Rouma Boll (Balla Moussa Keita) defeat a neighboring tribe, thereby earning the king's friendship.

Moussa Traoré, Born 1988, Sikasso, Mali
Lives and works in Bamako, Mali
Moussa Traoré is a painter and multimedia artist with a background in sculpture and textiles. His recent paintings explore the identity and spirit of man, inspiring him to produce an entire universe of twisted and unsettling creatures. His figures feature compositions of human and animalistic qualities, “the man tends to forget this animal part.
We are all half-man, half-animal,” Traoré declares. These haunting, primordial therianthropic forms contain an otherworldly quality as they suspend on the canvas like ghastly spirits in their surreal world, where loneliness, suffering, and uncertainty prevail.
Traoré received training in traditional craft forms from the National Institute of Arts (INA) and the Conservatory of Arts, Balla Fasseke KOUYATE of Bamako (CAMM-BFK). During this time, Traoré developed his practice alongside mentors such as the founder of the artist collective L’atelier Badialan, Amadou Sanogo, and its director Abdoulaye Konate.
Traore also studied under masters Ludovic Fadairo and Dany Leriche. The artist’s contact with diverse art forms and training with renowned artists have all influenced his practice and style.

Issiaka Kane in Yeelen (Souleymane Cissé, 1987) Cast: Issiaka Kane, Aoua Sangare, Niamanto Sanogo, Balla Moussa Keita, Soumba Traore, Ismaila Sarr, Youssouf Tenin Cissé, Koke Sangare. Screenplay: Souleymane Cissé. Cinematography: Jean-Noël Ferragut, Jean-Michel Humeau. Production design: Kossa Mody Keita. Film editing: Dounama Coulibaly, Andrée Davanture, Jenny Frenck, Nathalie Goepfert, Seipati Keita, Marie-Catherine Miqueau, Seipati N'Xumalo. Music: Salif Keita, Michel Portal. A fascinating but at times hard to follow fable set in the legendary past of Mali, Yeelen tells of a generational conflict focused on the somewhat Oedipal relationship of father and son. Niankora (Issiaka Kane) clashes with his father, Soma (Niamanto Sanogo), over the father's use of magic to enrich himself. When Soma dreams that his son will kill him, Niankora is forced to flee, aided by his mother (Soumba Traore), stealing some of the father's magic totems. The film traces Niankora's odyssey as he's pursued by his father, leading to a final showdown. Some remarkable images add to the universality of the story.

The Despicable Record of Military Rule in Postcolonial Africa
Preamble and Disclaimer: I must state right from the beginning that I have nothing personal against Thomas Sankara or Jerry Rawlings. But I detest dictators – especially the military ones – with every fiber in my body. Here are the reasons why.
COLLAPSED STATES
No military dictator has brought lasting prosperity to any African nation, period. Instead, military dictators have brought destruction and collapsed states. The longer they stayed in power, the more destruction they caused. ALL the collapsed states in Africa were ruined by military regimes:
 ·     Nigeria -- from 1966 to 1999, was ruined by a string of military generals: Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha after 29 years of military rule.
·       Mauritania -- from 1978 to 2009 was ruined by a string of military rulers - Colonel Mohamed Khouna Ould Haidallah, Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya, and Colonel Ely Mohamed Vall.
·       Guinea – from 1984 to 2010, was destroyed by the military regimes of Lasana Conte and Moissa Dadis Camara
·       Lesotho – from 1986 to 1993, was ruined by the military junta under Major Justin Metsig Lekhaya.
·       Uganda in 1979, was destroyed by the military regime of Idi Amin.
·       iLiberia in 1990, was destroyed by the regime of General Samuel Doe,
·       Benin in 1990, was ruined by the military regime of Matthieu Kerekou,
·       Mali in 1991, by the regime of General Moussa Traore,
·       Ethiopia in 1991, by the military regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam,
·       Somalia in 1991, was ruined by the regime of General Siad Barre,
·       Algeria in 1992, descended into civil war after the military intervened to annul the presidential elections.
·       Central African Republic in 1993, was destroyed by the military regime of General Andre Kolingba,
·       Rwanda in 1994, by the regime of General Juvenal Habryimana,
·       Burundi In 1995, by the regime of General Pierre Buyoya,
·       Zaire in 1996, by regime of General Mobutu Sese Seko,
·       Sierra Leone in 1997, by regime of General Joseph Momoh,
·       Niger in 1999, by the regime of General Ibrahim Barre Mainassara,
·       Ivory Coast in 2000, by the regime of General Robert Guie,
·       Togo in 2005, by the regime of General Gnassingbe Eyadema
·       Tunisia in 2010, by the regime of former army officer, Ben Ali.
·       Egypt iIn 2010, by the regime of Hosni Mubarak, a former military officer.
·       Libya in 2011, by the regime of Colonel Muamar Khaddafi,
·       Mali in 2012, by the military regime of Amadou Sanogo,
·       Guinea- Bissau in 2012, by the military regime of Mamadu Kuruma
Those countries would have been SAVED if their leaders were willing to step down or share political power. Note the frequency of the title “General.” “Every military regime is a fraud. Anybody who heads a military regime subverts the wishes of the people” – said General I.B. Babangida (rtd), former head of state of Nigeria (The African Observer, Jan 18-31, 1999; p.6). He should know; he stole $12 billion.
THE MEGA-BANDITRY
Though ALL cases of MASSIVE looting and plunder of treasuries in Africa have been committed by dictators, the chief bandits and mega-looters of Africa’s wealth have been mostly military officers. Here is the list:
Name                                                              Family Fortune
Col Muammar Khaddafi of Libya                    Over $200 billion (https://goo.gl/6r5d0x)
Hosni Mubarak of Egypt                                 Over $2 billion (https://goo.gl/CnEBN9)
Ben Ali of Tunisia                                            Over $13 billion
General Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire              Over $10 billion (https://goo.gl/CnEBN9)
General I.B. Babangida of Nigeria                  Over $12 billion (https://goo.gl/CnEBN9)
Lt. General Omar al-Bashir of Sudan             Over $9 billion (https://goo.gl/twPibm)
Sani Abacha of Nigeria                                   Over $5 billion (https://goo.gl/CnEBN9)
General Gnassingbe Eyadema of Togo         Over $3 billion
 THE BUTCHERS
ALL the cases of mass deaths and horrific slaughter of the African people were committed under military regimes.
 ·       1 million Nigerians died in the Biafra War (1967)
·       200,000 Ugandans were slaughtered by Idi Amin in 1970s,
·       Over 400,000 Ethiopians perished under Comrade Mengistu Haile Mariam,
·       Over 500,000 Somalis perished under General Siad Barre,
·       Over 2 million have died in the wars of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ivory Coast, under various Generals,
·       800,000 perished in Rwanda’s genocide,
·       300,000 in Burundi
·       4 million have perished in Sudan’s civil wars,
·       6 million have died from Congo’s wars,
This is the despicable record military dictators have left in postcolonial Africa. They have been wanton destroyers, perfervid looters and savage butchers of the African people.: No African with an iota of common sense would support a military dictator – EVER !

Spoken into existence
Name of film: Yeleen
Director: ‎Souleymane Cissé
Starring: Issiaka Kane,  Aoua Sangare,  Niamanto Sanogo,  Balla Moussa Keita
Genre: Fantasy/Drama
Yeleen is a film that captures a viewer’s attention from its opening scene. As an African, one cannot help but draw their focus to the images and nature of the narrative on screen.  Souleymane Cissé uses non actors in this film, which i believe helped to shape the film in accordance to the nature of its plot. Issiaka Kane’s body structure and overall appearance gives him a sense of power over all the other older and/or younger characters within the film. Watching Yeleen educates the viewer about African history and mythology that would be essential in understanding how a broad spectrum of Africans think.
The plot follows a young man who walks a great distance in attempt to evade his father who has sworn oath to kill him. Both father and son are gifted with African magic and it plays a major role in their journeys and overall narrative of the film. The production design of this film relies a lot on the natural environment which allows the viewers to accept this story as a reality. Considering the availability of resources and film capabilities of the time, most of the things we see in the frame are not manipulated through editing. This makes me believe that the witchcraft that we see and most of the other magic may have been performed in reality in order to be visually captured. The film also depicts the role and position of women in society at the time.
This film carries themes of war, lust, sex, love and spirituality as a main. The extent to which spirituality is used as a motif becomes the driving force of the narrative which the film follows.
Almost once or twice within every ten minutes of watching the film, events unfold that question and challenge one’s interpretation an connection between a tangible an intangible reality. Yeleen leaves unsettling feelings within the audience which makes it a great film to watch for people who are clueless about African spirituality.

They were forced to make an early substitution after Kone appeared to have picked up an injury with Amadou Camara coming on.The teams went into the break level despite several attempts with aerial balls in Thies.Senegal started the second half as the better side and their hunt for an opener paid off in the 51st minute.Ousseynou Niang drove through the Mali defence before laying an assist for Drame to score. The Teranga Lions had another chance to double the lead a few minutes later but Assane Mbodji blasted his effort way off target. The game continued with much more intensity from both teams, however, Senegal doubled their lead with a... source: https://ghanasoccernet.com/
