Which rug?
Got a light grey colored couch which requires a more colorful rug.
Any preference between these two:
Of the five I sent my husband he said he liked these two but would also send some more options. Can't say I was particularly interested in his opinion beyond the choices I offered up :) Luckily, he's easy going and won't be upset if I veto his choices. Or maybe I will love them.
We currently have a Ruggable - which are easy to wash but we still don't bother doing it much. I like them but they are thin and look bad pretty quickly. I'm hoping the more plush version will look better longer.
Found some good grant options for my kids school this morning. Had a good meeting with the Principal. The 5th grade started a weekly hip-hop dance class taught my a local dance studio which (along with another parent) brought to the school. Feeling positive about the opportunities for our students. The Principal is trying to ramp up programming so they have a full-time theater teacher by next year. Which would be amazing. Right now the older grades have a grant from Broadway Jr - where broadway actors/producers/set designers work in Title 1 schools to produce a play of the kid's choice. I'm excited to see what the kids pick this year. Looking forward to my kids being old enough to participate. Our school has a lot of nonprofit partnerships: violin, guitar, studio art in the school, chorus teachers from Broadway, chess in the school. Which is good because DOE funding is less and less each year. Because the nonprofit programs are run by experts in their art they are all really well run programs. However, they only have funding for one or two grades. I want all of the kids to have it all of the time.

Beni ourain Rug displays the simplest of motifs, this Moroccan Rug is a wonderful example of tribal weaving.
With striped large flatweave protective borders frame the composition and flatwoven pattern. This moroccan rug is handwoven by berber women with ivory wool and light beige wool. Soft underfoot and medium pile. Shipped from Morocco. It’s new, berber and moroccan. handmade by berber women from beniourain tribe.
Because the rug is new it may shed and it’s completely normal and will stop within a couple of weeks. For cleaning, we recommend a regular vacuum cleaning, we highly recommend dry clean ( we don't recommend steam cleaning, because the hot steam could cause some damages on the wool). From time to time, you can expose the rug to direct sunlight in a sunny day.
Size: ( 243cm x 158cm ) ( 95.6" x 62.2" inches ) ( 7.97ft x 5.18ft )

Handmade Carpets: A Timeless Blend of Art and Luxury
Handmade carpets have long been a symbol of luxury, craftsmanship, and tradition. Whether found in the grand palaces of the Middle East, the cozy homes of Europe, or the artistic interiors of modern apartments, these carpets bring warmth, beauty, and culture to any space. Unlike machine-made alternatives, handmade carpets reflect the artistry, skill, and patience of expert weavers, making them a treasured investment for homeowners and collectors alike.
The Art of Handmade Carpets
The process of crafting a handmade carpet is both intricate and time-consuming. Skilled artisans, often trained for generations, use traditional weaving techniques that can take months or even years to complete a single piece. The most well-known types of handmade carpets include:
Persian Carpets
Persian carpets, originating from Iran, are some of the most sought-after in the world. They are known for their intricate floral motifs, rich colors, and high knot density, which ensures durability and detailed designs.
Turkish Carpets
Turkish carpets, particularly Kilims, are famous for their geometric patterns and vibrant hues. These carpets are woven using a flat-weaving technique, giving them a distinctive, lightweight feel.
Afghan Carpets
Handwoven in Afghanistan, these carpets are characterized by their deep red tones and bold, tribal designs. They are often made from high-quality wool, making them both soft and durable.
Indian Carpets
India is home to a rich carpet-weaving tradition, producing both Persian-style carpets and unique Indian designs. Indian carpets are known for their fine craftsmanship, detailed patterns, and vibrant colors.
Moroccan Carpets
Handmade Moroccan rugs, particularly Beni Ourain rugs, feature simple, abstract designs that have become a favorite in modern interior design. Their soft, shaggy texture adds comfort and warmth to any space.
Why Choose a Handmade Carpet?
Unparalleled Craftsmanship
Handmade carpets are crafted using age-old techniques, ensuring that each piece is unique and of the highest quality. Unlike mass-produced carpets, no two handmade carpets are exactly alike.
Superior Durability
A well-made handmade carpet can last for decades or even centuries when properly maintained. The high knot density and quality of natural materials like wool, silk, and cotton contribute to their longevity.
Natural Materials
Handmade carpets are often made from natural fibers, such as wool and silk, which are eco-friendly, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic. Unlike synthetic carpets, they do not release harmful chemicals into the air.
Aesthetic and Cultural Value
Owning a handmade carpet is like owning a piece of art and history. The traditional patterns, motifs, and colors tell a story, reflecting the culture and heritage of the region where they were woven.
Investment Worthy
Due to their rarity, intricate craftsmanship, and high-quality materials, handmade carpets tend to appreciate in value over time. Many collectors and interior designers consider them a valuable asset.
Caring for Your Handmade Carpet
To maintain the beauty and longevity of a handmade carpet, proper care is essential:
Regular Vacuuming: Prevents dust buildup but should be done gently to avoid damaging the fibers.
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure can cause fading over time.
Professional Cleaning: Every few years, a professional carpet cleaner should be used to remove deep-seated dirt and stains.
Rotate Occasionally: To ensure even wear, rotate the carpet periodically.
Where to Buy Handmade Carpets?
Handmade carpets can be found in specialty carpet stores, luxury home decor boutiques, and online marketplaces. Some of the best places to buy handmade carpets include:
Iranian bazaars and markets for authentic Persian rugs
Turkish Grand Bazaar for high-quality Kilims and hand-knotted carpets
Dubai’s Carpet Souk for a diverse collection of Persian, Afghan, and Indian handmade rugs
Online platforms specializing in handmade carpets, offering global shipping options
Conclusion
Handmade carpets Abu Dhabi are more than just floor coverings; they are masterpieces of craftsmanship, history, and culture. Whether you are looking to enhance your home’s elegance, add warmth to your space, or make a long-term investment, a handmade carpet is a perfect choice. Their durability, aesthetic appeal, and timeless beauty make them a cherished addition to any interior.
Would you like me to add anything specific, such as a focus on Dubai’s carpet market or a buying guide?

Beni Rugs have become a household name in the world of interior design, seamlessly blending traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. These exquisite rugs are no longer just a functional piece for your home but a statement of style and culture. Whether you're a seasoned design enthusiast or someone just dipping their toes into home décor, chances are you've heard about these iconic rugs. But what exactly makes Beni Rugs so special, and why is everyone talking about them?
In this blog, we’ll explore the essence of Beni Rugs, answer some of the most frequently asked questions, and dive deep into what makes them a must-have in today’s homes. From their rich history to their collaborations with high-end designers, here’s everything you need to know.
What Are Beni Rugs?
Beni Rugs are handcrafted rugs originating from the Berber tribes of the Moroccan Atlas Mountains. Traditionally made using 100% live wool, these rugs are known for their plush texture and minimalist designs. The name "Beni" refers to the Beni Ourain tribe, one of the many tribes in Morocco that produce these rugs. While their designs may seem simple at first glance, they carry deep cultural significance, often telling stories or symbolizing aspects of Berber life.
Why Are Beni Rugs So Popular?
The popularity of Beni Rugs skyrocketed when they caught the attention of mid-century modern designers like Le Corbusier in the 20th century. Today, they are a favorite among interior designers and homeowners for several reasons:
Aesthetic Appeal: Their simple yet striking designs blend effortlessly with various interior styles.
Quality: Made from high-quality wool, Beni Rugs are durable and long-lasting.

Unveiling Moroccan Textiles: The Art of Weaving Culture Into Fashion
Moroccan fashion is definitely an intricate mixture of ancient traditions and modern influences, reflecting the country's rich history, diverse cultures, and vibrant spirit. From the bustling markets of Marrakech to the chic streets of Casablanca, Moroccan fashion is a celebration of color, texture, and craftsmanship. This information delves in to the essence of Moroccan fashion, its cultural significance, and how it has evolved in the contemporary world.
The Rich History of Moroccan Fashion
Moroccan fashion has deep roots in the country's history, influenced by a varied mixture of cultures, including Berber, Arab, French, and sub-Saharan African. The fusion of those traditions has given birth to unique clothing styles that incorporate intricate embroidery, luxurious fabrics, and bold, vibrant colors.
One of the very iconic garments in Moroccan fashion may be the djellaba, a loose-fitting robe with a hood. Traditionally worn by both men and women, the djellaba consists of wool or cotton and was created to protect the wearer from the desert heat and cold. The djellaba is often adorned with delicate embroidery, showcasing the wearer's region or tribe. The garment is definitely an embodiment of Morocco's rich heritage, combining practicality with beauty.
Moroccan Textiles: A Feast for the Senses
The textiles found in Moroccan fashion are only as important because the garments themselves. Morocco is noted for its handwoven fabrics, including silk, cotton, and wool, which are generally dyed using natural techniques passed down through generations. One of the very notable facets of Moroccan textiles is their bold use of color.Rich reds, oranges, and yellows evoke the vibrancy of Moroccan landscapes, while deep blues and greens represent the Mediterranean and desert influences. Moroccan prints, such as for example geometric patterns and floral motifs, are commonly incorporated into clothing, offering a visible feast that tells the story of the country's diverse landscape and people.
Traditional vs. Contemporary Moroccan Fashion
While traditional garments just like the djellaba and caftan remain staples of Moroccan fashion, modern designers are increasingly integrating these classic pieces with contemporary elements. In recent years, Moroccan fashion has seen a mix of traditional craftsmanship with global fashion trends, developing a unique style that interests both local and international audiences.
Contemporary Moroccan designers like Fadila El Gadi and Aswat have become internationally recognized because of their innovative designs that celebrate Moroccan heritage while incorporating modern fabrics, cuts, and silhouettes.
