Which rug?
Got a light grey colored couch which requires a more colorful rug.
Any preference between these two:
Of the five I sent my husband he said he liked these two but would also send some more options. Can't say I was particularly interested in his opinion beyond the choices I offered up :) Luckily, he's easy going and won't be upset if I veto his choices. Or maybe I will love them.
We currently have a Ruggable - which are easy to wash but we still don't bother doing it much. I like them but they are thin and look bad pretty quickly. I'm hoping the more plush version will look better longer.
Found some good grant options for my kids school this morning. Had a good meeting with the Principal. The 5th grade started a weekly hip-hop dance class taught my a local dance studio which (along with another parent) brought to the school. Feeling positive about the opportunities for our students. The Principal is trying to ramp up programming so they have a full-time theater teacher by next year. Which would be amazing. Right now the older grades have a grant from Broadway Jr - where broadway actors/producers/set designers work in Title 1 schools to produce a play of the kid's choice. I'm excited to see what the kids pick this year. Looking forward to my kids being old enough to participate. Our school has a lot of nonprofit partnerships: violin, guitar, studio art in the school, chorus teachers from Broadway, chess in the school. Which is good because DOE funding is less and less each year. Because the nonprofit programs are run by experts in their art they are all really well run programs. However, they only have funding for one or two grades. I want all of the kids to have it all of the time.

Beni ourain Rug displays the simplest of motifs, this Moroccan Rug is a wonderful example of tribal weaving.
With striped large flatweave protective borders frame the composition and flatwoven pattern. This moroccan rug is handwoven by berber women with ivory wool and light beige wool. Soft underfoot and medium pile. Shipped from Morocco. It’s new, berber and moroccan. handmade by berber women from beniourain tribe.
Because the rug is new it may shed and it’s completely normal and will stop within a couple of weeks. For cleaning, we recommend a regular vacuum cleaning, we highly recommend dry clean ( we don't recommend steam cleaning, because the hot steam could cause some damages on the wool). From time to time, you can expose the rug to direct sunlight in a sunny day.
Size: ( 243cm x 158cm ) ( 95.6" x 62.2" inches ) ( 7.97ft x 5.18ft )

Vintage Rugs: Timeless Elegance for Your Home
Vintage Rugs have become increasingly popular in recent years, blending timeless beauty with modern design trends. Whether you are looking to create a cozy, traditional space or add a touch of character to a contemporary room, vintage rugs can elevate the aesthetics of any interior. Their unique patterns, rich history, and handcrafted quality make them a stunning addition to any home.
In this blog, we'll explore the appeal of vintage rugs, the different types available, how to choose the right one for your space, and why these timeless pieces are worth the investment.
1. Why Choose Vintage Rugs?
a. Unique and Authentic Charm
One of the most compelling reasons to choose a vintage rug is its uniqueness. Each rug carries its own history, often woven by hand decades ago. The distinct patterns, textures, and color palettes in vintage rugs reflect the traditions and craftsmanship of their origin, whether they come from Persia, Turkey, Morocco, or India.
No two vintage rugs are exactly alike, making them a truly one-of-a-kind piece that can serve as the focal point of your room. Their worn-in charm and natural patina add character and depth to any interior design.
b. Durability and Quality
Vintage rugs are typically made with high-quality materials, such as wool, silk, or cotton, and are woven by hand using traditional techniques. This superior craftsmanship ensures that these rugs are highly durable and can last for decades when properly cared for. Many vintage rugs have already stood the test of time, so you can feel confident that your investment will continue to enhance your home for years to come.
c. Versatility in Design
Despite their age, vintage rugs can fit seamlessly into a variety of decor styles. Whether you have a modern, minimalist space or a bohemian, eclectic home, vintage rugs can add texture, color, and warmth. The intricate patterns and aged appearance can complement contemporary furniture just as easily as they can enhance traditional interiors.
2. Types of Vintage Rugs
There are several types of vintage rugs, each with its own characteristics, cultural significance, and craftsmanship. Below are some of the most popular varieties:
a. Persian Rugs
Persian rugs are perhaps the most well-known type of vintage rug, renowned for their intricate floral patterns, vibrant colors, and exceptional craftsmanship. These rugs often come from regions like Isfahan, Kashan, and Tabriz in Iran and are made using fine wool or silk.
Persian rugs typically feature central medallions, detailed borders, and a harmony of colors that make them timeless pieces of art. They are ideal for formal living rooms, dining rooms, or hallways.
b. Turkish Rugs
Turkish rugs, especially from regions like Anatolia, are known for their bold geometric patterns and tribal designs. These rugs often feature a more muted color palette compared to Persian rugs, with shades of brown, cream, red, and blue.
Turkish kilim rugs, in particular, are flatwoven and offer a rustic, earthy feel, making them perfect for casual or bohemian-style interiors.
c. Moroccan Rugs
Moroccan rugs have a minimalist, yet bold, design. Often made with a thick pile, these rugs are known for their distinctive geometric patterns and neutral color schemes, such as black and white or cream. Beni Ourain rugs are one of the most popular styles, offering a modern and clean aesthetic that can complement Scandinavian and contemporary decor.
d. Oriental Rugs
Oriental rugs encompass a wide variety of rugs from countries like China, India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. These rugs are often hand-knotted with intricate patterns that reflect the culture and history of the region. With rich colors and elaborate designs, oriental rugs add a touch of elegance and tradition to any room.
3. How to Choose the Perfect Vintage Rug
a. Size Matters
Before purchasing a vintage rug, it’s important to measure your space carefully. A rug that’s too small can look out of place, while one that’s too large can overwhelm the room. In living rooms, rugs should ideally be large enough for all furniture legs to sit on them, or at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs. In dining rooms, the rug should extend beyond the table to accommodate chairs.
b. Consider Your Color Palette
Vintage rugs come in a wide range of colors, from vibrant reds and blues to soft neutrals and pastels. When selecting a rug, consider the color scheme of your existing furniture and walls. If your room has neutral tones, a brightly colored vintage rug can act as a stunning focal point. Alternatively, if your space already features bold colors, a more subdued rug may be the perfect complement.
c. Match Your Decor Style
While vintage rugs can suit a variety of decor styles, it’s important to choose one that complements the overall aesthetic of your space. For instance, a traditional Persian rug may suit a more formal, classic room, while a Moroccan or Turkish rug with geometric designs can work well in a modern or bohemian setting.
d. Look for Quality
When purchasing a vintage rug, check for the quality of materials and craftsmanship. Hand-knotted rugs made from wool or silk are typically more durable than machine-made options. Look for tight knots, a soft pile, and vibrant, natural dyes. The condition of the rug is also crucial; while some wear is expected in vintage rugs, avoid pieces with large tears, stains, or heavy damage.
4. Caring for Your Vintage Rug
To ensure your vintage rug stays beautiful for years to come, proper care and maintenance are essential. Here are a few tips:
Vacuum Regularly: Gently vacuum your rug to remove dust and debris, but avoid using a beater bar, as it can damage the fibers.
Rotate Periodically: Rotating your rug every few months helps prevent uneven wear and fading from sunlight exposure.
Clean Spills Immediately: Blot spills with a clean cloth and avoid rubbing to prevent stains from setting. For deep cleaning, consider professional rug cleaning services.
Use Rug Pads: A rug pad underneath your vintage rug helps prevent slipping and provides cushioning to prolong the life of the rug.
Conclusion
Vintage rugs are more than just floor coverings; they are works of art that bring history, culture, and beauty into your home. Whether you choose a luxurious Persian rug, a minimalist Moroccan piece, or a bold Turkish kilim, a vintage rug can transform any space with its timeless charm and elegance.
Investing in a high-quality vintage rug is not only a way to enhance your home’s interior design, but it also adds a sense of history and tradition to your living space. With proper care, these unique pieces can be enjoyed for generations to come, making them a valuable and meaningful addition to any home.

Embrace the Elegance of Moroccan Rugs: The Craftsmanship and Charm of Handmade Beni Ourain Rugs
In the world of interior design, Moroccan rugs have carved out a special place due to their beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural significance. Among the various styles, the handmade Moroccan rug, particularly the Beni Ourain rug, stands out for its timeless appeal and unique qualities. This article delves into the fascinating world of Moroccan rugs, exploring their history, the craftsmanship behind handmade Moroccan rugs, and why Beni Ourain rugs are a sought-after choice for both modern and traditional interiors.
A Glimpse into Moroccan Rug Heritage
Moroccan rugs are a celebration of the country’s rich artistic and cultural heritage. These rugs are not merely decorative items but are steeped in tradition and history. Crafted by skilled artisans, Moroccan rugs have been a part of the region’s cultural fabric for centuries, each piece reflecting the unique influences of Morocco's diverse landscapes and peoples.
The artistry of Moroccan rug-making involves intricate techniques passed down through generations. Traditional methods include hand-spinning wool, dyeing it with natural pigments, and weaving it into complex patterns. This labor-intensive process ensures that every Moroccan rug is not only a practical item but also a piece of art imbued with personal and cultural significance.
The Appeal of Handmade Moroccan Rugs
What sets handmade Moroccan rugs apart from their machine-made counterparts is the personal touch and attention to detail. Each handmade Moroccan rug is a testament to the artisan’s skill and creativity. The process begins with selecting high-quality wool, which is then spun and dyed using natural dyes derived from plants, minerals, and insects. The weaving process itself is meticulous, with each knot being tied by hand, resulting in a rug that is both durable and unique.
Handmade Moroccan rugs offer a range of styles and patterns, from vibrant, multi-colored designs to more subdued, monochromatic ones. This variety ensures that there is a Moroccan rug to suit any interior design, whether you are looking for a bold statement piece or something more subtle and elegant.
Introducing the Beni Ourain Rug
Among the many types of Moroccan rugs, the Beni Ourain rug is particularly noteworthy. Originating from the Middle Atlas region of Morocco, the Beni Ourain rug is crafted by the Berber people of the Beni Ourain tribe. Known for its minimalist design, the Beni Ourain rug features geometric patterns and a color palette dominated by neutral tones such as ivory, beige, and brown.
What makes the Beni Ourain rug so desirable is its simplicity and versatility. The geometric patterns are often abstract, inspired by the natural surroundings and the daily lives of the Berber people. These designs not only enhance the visual appeal of a space but also add a touch of cultural authenticity. The wool used in Beni Ourain rugs is known for its softness and durability, providing both comfort and longevity.
Where to Find Moroccan Rugs for Sale
If you’re looking to purchase a Moroccan rug, there are several avenues to explore. Moroccan rugs for sale can be found in specialty rug stores, high-end boutiques, and online marketplaces. When shopping for a Moroccan rug, it’s important to consider factors such as the rug’s origin, materials, and design. Authentic Moroccan rugs, particularly handmade ones, may come with a higher price tag due to the craftsmanship involved, but they offer unparalleled quality and uniqueness.
For those specifically interested in Beni Ourain rugs, many reputable dealers and online platforms offer a curated selection. It’s a good idea to research the seller and ensure they provide information about the rug’s provenance and materials. This will help you make an informed decision and invest in a piece that will add lasting value to your home.
Caring for Your Moroccan Rug
To keep your Moroccan rug looking its best, proper care is essential. Regular vacuuming helps remove dust and prevent dirt from embedding in the fibers. For spills and stains, blot the area gently with a clean cloth and avoid using harsh chemicals. Professional cleaning is recommended for deeper cleans or if you have an antique or particularly valuable rug.
Conclusion
Handmade Moroccan rugs, especially the Beni Ourain rug, embody a blend of artistry, tradition, and elegance that enhances any living space. Their rich history and intricate craftsmanship make them more than just decorative items—they are pieces of cultural heritage that bring warmth and character to a home. Whether you are drawn to the understated beauty of the Beni Ourain rug or the diverse array of Moroccan rugs available, investing in a Moroccan rug is a choice that will enrich your interior with timeless style and enduring quality.
As you explore Moroccan rugs for sale, take the time to understand their origins and craftsmanship. Each rug tells a story and offers a unique glimpse into Morocco’s artistic traditions. By choosing a handmade Moroccan rug, you not only enhance your living space but also connect with a rich cultural legacy that spans centuries.
