Thoughts on the ATLA fandoms treatment of some of the netflix series cast? Seems like they've revealed themselves to be just as yt supremacist and misogynistic as every other fandom.
Hey I'm so sorry I've not been active on this blog and tumblr as a whole like I used to be. That includes not being caught up with the atla show or fandom. I'd appreciate a little help with sending in atla fandom meta.
(Like I'm literally on the second episode of Atla lol) but if you're interested in how I'm doing I've got my monthly update here:

All Valley Skills Challenge FAQ's
What is it? The All Valley Skills Challenge is a monthly event designed to encourage all forms of creativity within the TKK/CK fandom.
How does it work?
Each month, we will select a theme and post 3 correlating moodboards, which will serve as visual prompts. Choose the one that inspires you the most - or choose them all! - and get creating! Whether it's writing, art, or other forms of media, the goal is to inspire creativity and community participation, in all its many and varied forms. What's the time frame? The theme and moodboards will be shared on the first day of each month. You will then have the entire month to complete your creation(s). If you wish for us to share your work, please make sure you have submitted a post by noon, CST, on the second to last day of the month. This should give mods enough time to reblog any submissions before the start of the next prompt. We will schedule deadline reminder posts for each month and include the deadline in the moodboard posts. We reserve the right to make adjustments to the schedules depending on the amount of submissions, we will post updates whenever any changes have been made. Be sure tag us so we can reblog it here. How do I tag you?
@allvalleyskillschallenge and #allvalleyskillschallenge Sometimes, things slip through the cracks on this hellsite, and sometimes life just gets in the way. If we somehow missed your post, please feel free to shoot us a politely worded message and one of our mods will take care of it as soon as possible.
What kind of fan works are allowed?
This is a skills challenge, so it's time to step onto the mats and show us what you've got! Our goal is to showcase all forms of talent and creativity in our badass little fandom, including but not limited to:
Fanfiction
Fan Art (Digital or Traditional)
Comics
Meta
Edits
Playlists
Moodboards
Mixed Media/Arts and Crafts
If you have any questions about the eligibility of your submission, please feel free to message us and one of the mods will be happy to clear things up.
Does it have to be CK/TKK specific?
Generally speaking, yes. We ask that all works be connected to TKK/CK in some way. Any TKK/CK character, whether major or minor, is fair game. AUs, crossovers, and actor RPF are also welcome.
What pairings are allowed?
All pairings either directly or tangentially related to the TKK/CK universe are accepted. This means that if you wish to include a character from a The Karate Kid or Cobra Kai actor's other projects (i.e. Shootfighter, Naked in New York, Blue Beetle), we'll accept those works as well.
To make things easier on our mods, please make sure to tag all pairings accordingly. Include the names of the characters, the actors and the shows/movies they originate from.
What ratings and types of content are allowed?
Works of all ratings are allowed for this challenge, as are works that contain sensitive content, provided they do not violate Tumblr’s Terms of Service. But please be courteous and tag your works appropriately.
Please note that the mods reserve the right not to share or promote works that ignore these guidelines.
What about NSFW Art?
We recommend that any uncensored NSFW Art be posted to ao3. Please be advised that if you are sharing explicit art directly to tumblr, it should cropped/censored to abide by the community guidelines. We have also created an ao3 collection for your submissions. If you would like to add your fanworks to this collection, you can find the link here.
How should I format my submission?
Along with your submission itself, please state which prompt(s) inspired your work, the rating, the main characters/pairings included, and any valid content warnings.
If you do not wish to use warnings, please place your content under a Read More link.
To keep things neat, we also ask that any writing longer than a few paragraphs be posted under a Read More, along with all NSFW content.
If your work is hosted on another site outside of Tumblr (such as ao3), please provide us with a working link, along with a brief summary. Is there a word count minimum for written submissions? Or a maximum?
The minimum for a written submission is 100 words (or haiku length for poetry). There is no maximum. From drabbles to epics to in-depth meta, feel free to write as much (or as little) as you want. Just keep in mind that your work must be submitted before the end of the month in order for us to reblog it. Can I submit more than one thing?
Yes, absolutely! Our goal is to inspire you to create!
That being said, we will only reblog 6 posts per participant, per month. This is mainly to keep from spamming everyone's dashes.
So if, for example, you choose to write multiple drabbles or connected drabble sequences for a prompt, keep this limitation in mind. Consider either posting them to ao3 as a collection and sharing the link, or condensing them into one tumblr post.
Again, please only @ us in 6 posts per month. Posts that exceed this limit will be disregarded.
When will my post be reblogged?
Our current plan is to reblog your submissions in batches, twice a week. There will be one drop in the middle of the week, and another over the weekend. So if your post isn't reblogged right away - don't worry! We will do our best to make sure everyone gets their time to shine.
We are also currently working on creating a tagging system to keep things as organized as possible on our end. We ask for your patience while we sort things out.
One last thing!
Remember, this a challenge, not a competition! The goal is to further develop and showcase your skills - and most of all, to have fun!
We know it's a slow time for the fandom right now, but we hope this event will encourage participation and foster a greater sense of community. Reblogs and comments are encouraged! It is our dearest hope that you will support each other's efforts and cheer each other on!
That being said: While we will do our best to tag ships and any sensitive or potentially triggering content, please remember that this is a fandom-wide event. Any and all pairings and ratings are allowed.
This may include content that you are not personally comfortable with. But while you are free to explore themes of intolerance or bigotry within your work, hate speech and harassment directed toward your fellow participants or mods WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Under ANY circumstances.
Someone wrote or drew a ship you don't like? You disagree with someone else's opinion or are squicked by a particular kink? Be respectful or just keep scrolling. Unsolicited critical feedback and bashing are not allowed in this dojo.
To paraphrase Mr. Miyagi - our root karate might be the same, but we all choose our own way to grow. Everyone's form of expression is unique. So please be respectful when engaging with creators and their works. Anyone found to be harassing their fellow challengers (or the mods) will be banned and disqualified from participating in future rounds.
If you have any other questions, comments, or suggestions for future themes, please feel free to contact us and we will get back to you as soon as we can! Our asks are open. And if for some reason you need to contact a mod directly, your senseis mods with their inboxes open and ready to answer questions are: @desolateice and @wicked-jade.

Blog Navigation | Meet the Mod | What is Bloody Roar?
Since this is a new blog for a relatively quiet fandom which surrounds a niche fighting game that's old enough to drink, Beast Drive will rely heavily on assistance from followers to gain traction.
If you would like something showcased on this blog, then please read under the cut for Beast Drive's submission and askbox policies.
Recent Updates

The Meta is Futile has been running a homebrew D&D adventure the past 2 weeks. This Friday, 3/31/2022 will be the finale, and I can't believe I didn't post the characters I designed for some of my players sooner?? An odd group of adventurers find themselves in the town of Rayhasfeld. It is a town that seems to be too big for its small population, and memory problems have abound. But what exactly has been causing them? Well, I suppose we shall have to find out. But how can you solve a mystery that you can't remember?
Samara was an adopt made originally from an MLP Cutie Mark adopt, but they wanted something not pony. I was happy to oblige. She is a wood elf from the same forest as Bryarthorne (played by CptTritium on Twitter) and is looking for her permanent home. Since wood elves often live in trees that they grow themselves, Samara has to make sure to find the perfect place to plant the sapling that she carries with her.
Samara belongs to @jade-mod
Come watch us Fridays at 10pmEST!! www.twitch.tv/metaisfutile/
From this adopt set: https://rosexknight.tumblr.com/post/694481593516081152/piratesailor-cutie-mark-adopt-for-september

Well, here I am reblogging a year-old post because it was mentioned to me just now, which means people are still seeing it. Unfortunately, it has enough inaccuracies to warrant a response. I will move the personal/subjective beef the OP has with staff to the end, for those interested in that side of things. For now I just want to talk about the things factually wrong with the post. 1) The moderation team has no authority over card balance. The updates are done by a separate staff branch, fittingly called "Balancers", which do not have any power over chat. A few users are on both teams, but most of them do not overlap. 2) Not all balancers are top players, nor was that the case in 2023. All balancers are certainly good players, but as for "top" - as in at least top 30 in the leaderboard (small game keep in mind) - simply not true. Also, nobody ever had 5 alt accounts in top 10, lmao. 3) Balance team frequently nerfs their own decks. As a "top player", I personally suggest changes to key pieces of at least one of my decks almost every season. The notion that the team buffs their own decks every patch is blatantly false, further made clear by the fact the ranked meta - and so, the decks used by "top players" - changes monthly. 4) Sniping is an actual issue, though it is not really caused by spectating, but rather just by the game being small enough you can reliably match certain players in top ranks at certain times of day. This brings me to the point about moderators sniping people. Fortunately, most moderators have something that prevents them from ever sniping anyone, and that something is called Skill Issue. As I said, this practice only works at the very top, where there are few enough players, and chat moderation... simply isn't that good.
5) The case where a staff member called a user's religion "garbage". Oh boy. While this is indeed unprofessional, there's a lot of context missing from that one. The staff member in question is a transgender individual, while the user in question was banned for what is perhaps the most adamant and hopeless display of transphobia in the Undercards community. Harassment (including towards said staff member in particular), death threats, and all. This user justified the behavior via their religion. Cue some less than professional treatment. To be clear, I am not justifying this - not from a mod team member. However, I do believe that the context here is practically required, and omitting it is an exercise in bad faith (kill me). 6) New ranks could not make gains/losses "disproportionate". The reason? Undercards uses a pure elo system. The gain/loss is almost always the same, bar a few safety thresholds in lower ranks. Reason for the change? Legend, the game's top rank, was so easy to get that most intermediate/advanced players stopped playing ranked way before a season ended, leaving the rest in a much shallower pool. We made the climb harder, but the new rank equivalent to Old!Legend kept its Old!Legend rewards, and it was only up from there. We also made people unable to lose Legend rank once they got it, so people wouldn't just stop out of that fear. Overall, the ranked update had overwhelmingly positive reception.
------------ Overall, a lot of this post is unfortunately misinformed. But I did skip over the personal "call-out" stuff, which is what this claims to be - a call-out post. This part is a bit more subjective, but I still feel the need to include it for people who might come across this to have an actual representation of how the community is. First is the issue of "other discord servers" having Undercards' reputation as a generally toxic place. Unfortunately, this was somewhat true - back when the game was at its peak due to youtubers deciding they wanna play it, the moderation was... Well, we had one of the guys in charge of GLITCHTALE discord in staff, and that wasn't even the worst. This has long since been fixed. As for myself, the notion that I "only use the chat to mock people or complain" is verifiably false. We have an easily accessible log of all chat messages in the game since 2020. I've also literally never said the string of letters "whining little kid", which is something the OP put in quotation marks. The existence of chat log is widely known in the community and makes the "speaking out against mods during low activity hours" thing inefficient - we will find you anyway. YT stuff is out of context and is under a video talking about a specific group of people, rather than "the playerbase" as the OP claims.
However, I will not defend the staff team or myself further here. You can dislike me or anyone else, and that's perfectly fine and valid with me. While I'm aware that there are some people who don't like me or others on staff, I am also aware that there are more people who feel the opposite way. Otherwise, we'd all be out - the community has quite an epic history of revolting against corrupt moderation.
Also, Undertale Yellow is in Undercards (with creators' approval of course!). You should check it out if you read this far.
The absolute state of Undercards
This isn't the kind of post i usually make, but well, theorists can make call out posts too. And regarding this topic, it seems that no one else is going to do it if i don't so...
I need to talk about Undercards. And particularly what's been going on behind the scenes in this fangame & its community and that it seems no one wants to speak up about. I've been thinking of doing this for a while and at this point i think i should just go ahead and explain it.
Okay, before we get into the controversy, i'll present the game a little bit for those who haven't heard of it. (And for those who don't care about this part, just scroll down a little bit until the next bold text.)
Undercards is an online multiplayer Undertale/Deltarune fangame which is basically just Yu-gi-oh or Hearthstone, except that cards, spells and such are all Undertale & Deltarune themed. It was popularised a few years ago mostly by youtuber Merg.
The gameplay looks something like this :
This game has a bit of a Gacha side, but it is entirely possible for any new FTP player to climb the ranks quite quickly or to obtain anything a P2W player could obtain somewhat easily, making it not unfair in that regard.
The game has an entertaining mastery curve and progress in ranked leagues (the main part of the game) is primarly decided by improvements in one's strategy regarding synergy of your deck, artifacts & soul, which are all to be chosen by the player to get the best chance at victory.
So, this all sounds like a pretty neat fangame, doesn't it ? So what's wrong ? What is the point of this post about ?
The issues
Whilst the game itself can indeed be quite fun, there exists a very serious problem regarding its community, and particularly its moderation team which sabotages its own game.
I'll start with some of the more minor issues before moving on to more important ones. I will also mention that i will not cover personal experiences (as much as i want to) and rather focus on larger trends to avoid biases or fallacious generalisations of individual cases.
The balance bias
The game has a very severe balance issue, which is nearly entirely caused by the moderators serving their own interests over that of the game.
Because here is the thing :
Many of the moderators (and by that i mean, the ones who's opinions seriously count for the balancing, really) are also the game's top players.
This game not only has greater rewards for achieving higher ranks every month, but even beyond the highest rank, it also has a live public leaderboard of the top players of each month.
However, if you check the monthly rankings of the game in any given season, the top spots are practically entirely monopolised by the moderators and by the alternative accounts of the moderators. (Some have had up to 5 accounts at once)
In other words, those who decide which cards should be buffed or nerfed are also the same people who will benefit or suffer from rebalancing their own cards, or know what tiny change to make to a card to suddenly make it very valuable in their specific decks.
This leads to some pretty silly situations, such as moderators buffing cards that genuinely deserved to be nerfed to secure their own interests. Or, on the other side of the issue, there are regularly cases where 9 out of the top 10 players all use the same clearly overpowered card in all of their decks, but the moderators will continue to deny that the card needs to be nerfed, because they do not want to have to nerf their own decks.
These things are all still happening, and they have been for years.
Because, well, they are the moderators, they have the authority and some of them have been here for up to 7 years, who is going to monitor them ?
After all, moderators are the law, they can do no wrong, right ?
Moderator incompetence and toxicity.
See, the team isn't just biased, they are also frankly incompetent at handling their own game in a facepalm-inducing manner.
For instance, remember how the main entertaining thing about this game was the strategy aspect of how to select your cards, artifacts and soul in order to get the best possible deck you can create and use it to make progress ?
Well, the game also has a spectating function. Which isn't a bad idea at all in itself. But it does have some major issues, like deck copying.
It is extremely easy for anyone to spectate the games of a very high rated player, and simply note down all the cards they play until you have their whole deck figured out. After this, you can easily copy it, and just play with this stronger person's deck and rank up that way, skipping what is quite literally the main interest of Undercards.
Not only does this ruin a large portion of the point of the game for the person that does it, but the more people do it, the more everyone everywhere starts running around using copies of the same few decks and making the game incredibly blend for everyone else overall as the thousands of possible way to make interesting decks slowly get reduced to no more than a dozen considered "viable" possible decks as you climb up the ranks.
...So what did the Undercards team do about this ?
...They created a hub menu where you can publish and downloads decks.
Yes, this is completely counter-productive.
Yes, this means that anyone can publish any deck for any player to find and use, they don't even need to copy the deck, it does that for them automatically.
Yes, this means that someone else can spectate your games, note down your deck, and publish it online for everyone to see, copy, or specifically prepare counters for. And they do.
Not only has the team not fixed those issues, but they have added features to make things more convenient for the perpetrators. They are actively encouraging people to be copycats and anti-fairplay, severely damaging their game's main strength on the way.
Oh, talking about stalking people and anti-fairplay...
The spectate feature has another massive problem : Sniping.
See, a game in Undercards lasts around 5 minutes & involves just two players, and there is rarely more than a couple dozen games going on at the same time. The game also has a very large matchmaking pool, meaning that you can pretty easily be paired against somebody considerably higher rated than yourself.
What this all means is that, by spectating somebody and then entering the playing queue right after this person's game ends, it is very easy to purposely stalk somebody in order to have a match against this particular person.
So, not only can someone stalk you and post your decks and/or strategies online, but anyone even much lower rated than you can look at it, build a counter deck that exists specifically to crush your particular deck, and then stalk you to repeatedly beat you and leech off your rank points.
And there is absolutely nothing that you can do about this.
The only solution is to log off and come back online when the sniper won't be present, or stalk the person back yourself to make sure you only launch games when you know they are already playing and can't be waiting for you, which is quite tiring.
Okay, well what did the team so about that one, then ? Surely even they wouldn't like the idea of being sniped, right ?
Heh... Well, its a bit trickier.
Officially, the practice is not allowed and a couple of them are actually against it. But in practice, most of them actually do not care, for the simple reason that part of them are guilty of doing such things themselves, and simply only take action when someones tries to do it back against them.
In fact, while i actually do not actually have proof for that one, i do also suspect that at least part of the moderators who have several accounts decide on which account they're going to play at a given time by checking which other players are online right now, and picking a deck/account accordingly for easier wins.
Their crappy behavior does not stop at only in-game things, though.
For instance, one person brought up to me that members of the staff have called his religion "garbage". Which needless to say, is extremely inappropriate and disrespectful.
Beyond being scummy, the team also just doesn't know how to handle their player base in general. For example, not so long ago, they shot themselves in the foot by creating two new ranks despite the fact that their player base was already too low to fill up the many ranks they already had. This means stretching up the rank differences between the players, which makes rank gain/loss disproportionate compared to one's actual current level and renders progression even more frustrating for medium level players, as well as generalising higher differences between players for matchmaking, which thus makes all the previously mentioned problems like sniping even worse. (All of that just to make things feel a bit more comfortable for those at the very top like the mods, who won't have to match with lower rated players as much.)
There could still be a couple more things for me to say, but i think the picture is already fairly clear. The team is purposely throwing the quality of their own game under the bus for little more reason than to stroke their ego by seeing their own names at the top of their leaderboards and overall just don't make very good decisions for their game even outside of all that.
Okay, but that was a whole lot of speaking, now how about i give an actual direct example of what the situation is currently like ?
Consider the existence of a user named "Sktima".
Skitma plays the game every day, but practically only ever uses the public chat to either :
Trash talk his opponents either during a game or after a loss.
Complain about the game's RNG, calling it "rigged" or "scripted".
Condescendingly mock and talk down on players rated below 2200 ELO (that is, over 98% of players) for being bad at the game.
If ever called out on this behavior, Sktima will infantilise the whistleblower, calling them a "whining little kid" or similar term before painting them as the bad guy instead, and attempting to bully them into leaving the chat. (and holding grudges against them later on, too.)
All the while, of course, being arrogantly mocking and acting like he considers himself as superior to others.
The question is : How long do you think it took for this player to be banned ?
I encourage you to think about this for a second, before continuing to read.
...
...Okay, have you made your guess yet ?
Well, it was a trick question..
Sktima was never banned at all, for the very simple reason that Sktima is a part of the moderation team.
He even has a YT, too. And it kinda speaks for itself, honestly.
For those interested, here are a couple extracts from a conversation he had in the comments with somebody pointing out that with the size of that community, issues like sniping or hand peeking (another big problem i didn't bring up caused by another bad feature that allows you to directly see the opponent's hand with another tab via the in-game friend option) were bound to happen with the way the mod team handled some features.
Be warned, a good amount of rudeness as well as lying & manipulating to try and turn the situation backwards...
Im not going to analyse or detail more any of that nor point out some of the blatant irony in this conversation, but what i will bring up is that throughout all this, they've made their stance rather clear :
None of this is the fault of the moderator team, they consider that only the player base itself is to blame for the current state of the game, not them.
The underground status.
The thing is, a lot of players aren't oblivious to this, but won't speak a word when staff is present.
In just a couple weeks for instance, at least three separate users have admitted in the chats they thought Sktima was insufferable, including one which claimed he was "the most toxic person on the site." But all this was only at low activity times when the team members were offline.
This was even more obvious on discord, where the only results you could find when searching for "Undercards" in the history of other Undertale/Deltarune related discord servers were people complaining about how toxic the Undercards staff was.
People frequently complain about a lot of the previously mentioned gameplay issues like sniping, but it seems nobody dares to speak up about the actual responsibles, likely due to their position of power and because they consider it as a fait accompli.
Undercards is a great game with has the potential to be very fun, but it and its community are practically being held hostage by the game's staff, and yet it seems the community has just given up on itself and mostly accepted this unfair status quo. This kind of thing shouldn't be allowed to continue.

Hi! I was wondering with the three IC posts per month rule, if you drew the character would that count as one towards it? For example, you draw the character in the class they are currently in or something along those lines? Thank you for your time!
Since this is a writing group, we focus on writing for our activity requirements, so we don't allow artwork to count toward the monthly minimum. You are, however, more than welcome to include your artwork with meta or headcanon posts.

A 2nd Majsasaurus Year!
Today, 22nd of September 2021, it’s been two years since I officially joined the magical world of fandom. 22.9.2019 I uploaded the first chapter to my fic Shadows and Sand, and the rest is history.
I did a deep dive into my first year as a fic writer and active member of fandom last year, when it was my first anniversary. You can read it here!
In that meta discussion about my membership of fandom, I presented it as if walking on clouds. I was so, so happy and talked during all the discussion about my happiness in fandom.
Since that post was written, my life and also my perception of the fandom I am part of has changed. Change isn’t always bad, as I really had a honeymoon phase with fandom over a year ago, and the low after hit hard.
But let’s see what I’ve been up to and what I’ve been writing! The following year provided much change and fun things! Please keep reading 💜⬇
The first fic I wrote since 22.9.2020 was a Sakura x Ino fic. I had for a longer while been interested in writing a woman-loves-woman ship, which I had never done before, and as a wlw-person myself the urge to explore that part led to Promise me this is just a kiss. The pairing itself was chosen on rather random, it had to be two women and I like Ino, so I chose the most popular Ino-wlw ship for this for convenience.
I really liked writing the fic and it was well-received! It was the first time I had written a fic that was entirely centred around exploring feelings and having sex.
After this I jumped directly onto the next idea that had been boiling inside me for a longer while. Up to this point, all I had written, except the wlw-fic, had been set in the Naruto canonverse and I was itching to try to work with a multi-chaptered modern au! The pairing was of course my beloved Shikadai x Inojin.
It was during the creation of this fic I began to struggle. This was a new genre, as this was romance only and all my other works had been action and fantasy based, except the sex fic of course. I was maybe over critical and stressed, which resulted in me having a hard time writing it. But I made it. Was the sky always this beautiful? ended up being 35k long, and in hindsight, I freaking love, love, love how it turned out in the end and what it represented. I am very proud of this fic.
I “upgraded” as a fan by the end of October when I bought myself a digital drawing tablet. I began drawing fanart of Shikadai and Inojin and preferably them two together, haha! I still draw a few days a month and find it extremely fun as a side hobby beside the writing.
We are now in November 2020. By this time, I had completely finished my zine fic, Under the Scorching Sun, which I had written during September and October, for the Shikatema zine I was kindly accepted to. I was proud of what I had created and was eager for the rest of the contributors to wrap up theirs, so we’d have a wonderful zine for sale in 2021. It was lovely to write ShikaTema again. As the zine fic was about to be released in months from when I had at first finished it, I wanted of course to write something fans and friends could immediately take part of on the internet. I had hyped myself up to a state where I wanted to write a third and final story in my series To love and never let go, my epic series about Shikadai and Inojin.
Now, I should maybe have waited another month, but I was worried the readers would give up on me if I didn’t write it right away. In December, I began writing To find hope in the Universe, with my usual speed and love for the art.
What I by then didn’t realise or even recognise was that I was very slowly turning burned out. I ignored all the signs.
In December I wrote simultaneously as Hope in the Universe a fic that was part of the Shikatema server’s Secret Santa event. The fic’s name was The Ghost Stories of our Hearts, and it was ShikaTema, as the event’s name suggests. It was fun to write and despite the final big fic, Hope in the Universe, pressing down on me, I finished The Ghost Stories of our Hearts and was very happy with the result. Sadly, at this point the burnout began taking control over me, and I never managed to reply to the comments.
The 15th of January, I began uploading To find hope in the Universe. It was a lovely experience, even if it was tainted by negative feelings coming from my decreasing happiness and the fact that it didn’t do as well as To dance above the Stars, the second fic in the series. To deal with two very contradiction emotions, loving my work, the characters, how I have painted an entire world around the characters and how I knew some people honestly loved my hard work, and then the negative feelings coming from not feeling good enough and depressed, was a difficult thing to navigate and still is when I think back to that time. It didn’t help that during the process of uploading the fic I went through grief, and I chose distraction as my coping method. I kept writing and working, the only thing I ever knew.
Our pre-order of the Shikatema zine was in full motion by this time and it was a nerve-wracking time! Mostly because of excitement but also worry. I’m super happy for my friends who were part of the zine, with whom I could share all the excitement and nervousness with. The zine ended up making good sales, which made me happy among the uploading of the long fic.
To find hope in the Universe was completed 31st of March 2021. When I uploaded the final chapter, I felt nothing. It was so weird, so spooky, to have finished a long fic and a series on top of that and not feel anything. But deep down, beneath the layer of depression, I felt great pride.
That was the emotion that broke free once the burnout left me. Pride.
I had created this empire of Shikajin, a whole alternative timeline, an alternative canon from my own head and to this day, that is my internet legacy. I love Trial of the Heart, which I wrote in 2020, but if I have to choose between ToH and this series, I will choose To love and never let go in a heartbeat.
So, even if it felt depressing and hopeless in the moment, I look now back with pride and happiness. Never forget that. Never forget that I made that.
April was a curious time. I swore to not write anything, because I had by now recognised that I was burned out and needed to rest, yet managed to scrape together three smaller fics.
The first one was another wlw-smut fic, TemaSaku this time called Another Light. I wanted to explore that part once again. I wrote it in canonverse and honestly think the fic ended up extremely nice. Perfect amount of feels and sex. It didn’t feel hard to write at all, because the setting, characters and emotions were so different from the fics I had written the last five months.
Now more interesting things lay on the horizon! A new zine, the Ino-Shika-Cho zine called Beyond a Bond had an interest check during the spring, and later the contributor application. I urged in the interest check to please give us the next gen kids, Shikadai, Inojin and Chocho – my kids and babies, and when it turned out they were going to feature, I had to apply as a writer. For this application I wrote a one shot, called It’s just hair, and I loved this spunky little story featuring the best babies that I created.
I also edited one of my tumblr fics, And then I kissed him, into a longer, better version that I later in May uploaded onto AO3. It was once again a Shikajin, a sequel of Trial of the Heart, and it was a fun little project.
Now May came and I sent in the application for the zine early, which I now am relieved I did. I am happy that I did the work for the application in April instead of May, because in May I had a few breakdowns and another grieving period, which lead to complete creative paralysis. I didn’t write a single word during May, only uploaded the two one shots I had prepared in April.
What I did do in May was to read through the Shikatema zine I had contributed to! It arrived in the mail! I was so nervous; my whole body was shaking when I opened the package right outside the post office. The zine now resides on the parade place in my little zine shrine in the bookshelf. Thank you to the mods who made this a reality!
To my great happiness my zine adventures continued as I was accepted to the Ino-Shika-Cho zine as a writer and was assigned to write my favourite characters. I felt so relieved and overjoyed, mind blown by the sheer talent among the contributors.
On the other fandom front, June didn’t continue any brighter, with stress and mental pain still having a strong grip around me, despite the very happy news that I am still so grateful for. I wrote a Yamanaka family fic which to this day hasn’t seen the light of AO3, because of negative emotions surrounding it. I turned into a complete wreck compared to me in June 2020. In June 2020 I was flourishing, I loved what I did, I loved fandom and I loved the friends I had made through Discord servers. Now I could find myself crying my eyes out over a wip not going the way I wished it would. What had happened to Bex 2021?
I was so incredibly frustrated with myself, groaning in defeat when my hands just couldn’t write. I managed to push through 6k of what I called my “emo au” – more of that later – and finish the Yamanaka fic which is still buried, and on top of that I had the zine and another fandom event, The Naruto Photo Album, to create content for. Why couldn’t I do it? Why couldn’t I find happiness in something that once was my reason for happiness?
In the end, I managed to write 15k in June. My former monthly word count used to be 30k. One could think this would turn into the end of my fic writing career, or the beginning of a longer hiatus, but I am stubborn and want to meet the expectations of the people who love my content, so I didn’t want to give up. I wanted to try. I wanted to be whoever I was before.
Funnily enough, the healing came in the shape of the most self-indulgent fic I have ever, ever written, a fic I like possessed began writing July the 1st 2021. It was nothing less than a freaking fairy tale AU, namely a Shikadai x Inojin Peter Pan AU. I can hear you laugh at the silliness of it, but this whimsical AU gave me back my love for writing. I hyper-fixated on this story quite a bit and stopped writing on everything else, something I almost never do.
Only happy boys fly ended up being 21 000 words long! I knew it was a niched story, and true to my guesses, the story has to this day very low stats. Today, two months after it was published, it has just above 100 hits and 10 kudos, so for all I know, only ten people read and liked it. I try to not care too much, since I love the story and in some way, that story saved me from going batshit insane over my emotions about writing.
At this point I had begun writing my fic from the Ino-Shika-Cho zine, finding joy in silly scenes with my favourite characters and trying to heal. The writing process was frustratingly slow, but one word at a time I got forward and as of today, the draft is done. The pre-orders are in December. At the side of the zine fic I wrote a short fluffy Shikajin story, CLEAR, a story with almost no plot, because I knew how much self-indulgence could help me.
And then, I finally began writing for real on my emo au, A gang of fallen stars, which has the first few chapters up right now! I have for the first time in six months a longer fic (if we don’t count the Peter Pan story) and it feels… good. This fic is once again a modern au, but in darker tones than my other modern au from November 2020. I honestly like what I have so far, even if I during June and July almost planned to never finish it. I am so relieved I managed to begin the upload. In September the Photo Album was released and I could show my two fics I wrote for it.
It sounds like this year has been nothing but misery, and at times it felt like it. However, there are a few fandom friends who brought light to my life when I couldn’t see it. The first ones to mention are of course my partners in crime, @notquitejiraiya and @thespookymoth. Together we created a server dedicated to Ino-Shika-Cho during the spring and it has been tons of fun with the members there! Thank you two for listening to me and for being my friends during 2021.
I also have to mention Soverel, who carefully begun taking contact through comments and likes on my twitter, and later through direct messages, and it has been a fun ride ever since. We’ve had lovely discussions which are very dear to me and your support means a lot to me. Thank you for being you and for drawing so many wonderful artworks you’ve shared with me. Haha, and for making me play Genshin Impact, even though I do it like twice a month!
Another person who has made my days so much brighter is @sugarriene. Thank you for sending me that one dm that made us chat regularly, thank you for popping up and sharing panels and your wonderful drawings with me, and for vibing head canons with me. You are a lovely person, and you make me happy.
Finally, I want to give a shout out to @yoboseyokyu for listening to me when I had to yell into the void and for making me happy with your cute posts on both twitter and tumblr.
Since September 2020, I’ve written around 195 000 words and drawn close to 35 illustrations, most of them of Shikadai and Inojin. Almost 200 000 words of Majsasaurus. I’ve created a Discord server and I’ve been part of two zines as a writer, plus a free PDF-project.
It has been a wild year. A year filled with passion for my favourite characters and ship, with the excitement that came with being part of projects and hyping them. It was a year where I learned to draw digitally, and heck what fun it was.
This also a year where I learned people can be mean to me because of what I ship and that fandom friends won’t necessarily always stay to be your friend anymore and how much it can hurt. I also learned what my limits are, and what punishment I get if I don’t listen to my own mind and rest when I have to.
It was a year, guys.
Now, onto the third Majsasaurus Year. Cheers!
And those of you, who supported me when I needed it – thank you and I love you.

FAQ - Here we compile answers to questions we frequently get. If you have any questions not answered here, please get in touch!
(below the cut)
I want to contribute, how can I apply?
Applications will be open from the 1st - 30th September. Anyone can apply, regardless of experience, and we will provide more details before the applications open.
Follow us to stay updated!
What is the timeline and when are deadlines?
You can find a condensed version of the timeline in our tumblr sidebar, a more detailed timeline will be added when the contributor applications open!
Our creation period will start from the 14th October with monthly check-ins with contributors. In short, there is plenty of time and the mods hope to be flexible when needed to enable as many people as possible to participate!
Is the zine going to be only in digital format, or will you publish paper copies as well?
Our intentions right now are to keep it as a free digital zine. However, people are welcome to print the final zine for their own use!
Keeping the zine free and online eliminates additional worries about money and legal issues.
Will content about non-canon ships be allowed?
Yes, we will welcome non-canon ships! Please remember that the main zine will be SFW.
Are only new pieces eligible or is previously published art/ fics/ meta acceptable?
The zine is a collection of new pieces that haven’t been published online before, but of course contributors can post their creations online after the zine is released.
We would love to see artists and writers already active in the fandom get on board though!
Will there be overarching themes for the content?
At this stage we are simply wanting to collate pieces in the tone of the show, celebrating it and other fans. We would love to see pieces exploring the themes set out by the show itself but welcome other ones.
If there’s any themes or topics you would like addressed, let us know in the interest check which will be open until the 29th August!
Will there be a NSFW zine and if so what kind of content will be allowed in it?
We do not know yet if there will be one (if you would like to see one let us know in the interest check), if so, we will provide more details on what is allowed.
Is the zine gonna be a one-off or will issues be published regularly?
The zine is going to be a one-off, scheduled to be released in spring 2022.
How can I help/ get involved?
We have a full moderator team, so we currently don’t need more people to help organising. What you can do is apply to be a ontributor once the application opens in September and, of course, spread the word!
What is the maximum word count for fics/meta?
Exact specifications will be finalised over the coming week before the applications open, but we a thinking about a 1500 -2000 max word count. Shorter fics are fine too!
Will the zine be free/ will contributors get paid?
The zine will be free and contributors will not get paid. Basically, there's no money involved, in order to prevent legal issues.
How many contributors are you looking for?
We are currently thinking about 40-50, but that will depend on number and types of application, the length of the zine and other factor, so this might chnage! We will provide more details by the time the contributor applications open.
Can contributors submit more than one piece?
We're keeping it at one piece per person to allow as many people as possible to participate.

Writers:
New Year, New(ish) Thornewood!
Please read! Necessary policy changes below!
With it being the start of the new year, we thought it’d be useful to post about a reminder about some of the rules and also instate some new ones to help Thornewood A) run more smoothly, but B) have more fun!
Here’s our newest rule:
1. All messages regarding mod duties (approving plots, questions about policies, etc.) must be posed in a group chat with the Bee Sisters.
Lauren and Casey talk every day, so they know what policies were discussed, but it’s easier to have it in a group chat so both sisters can weigh in. Also just helps the sisters streamline their conversations. If you don’t know how to make a group message, don’t worry! We’ll make it for you if we don’t already have one!
Along those same lines:
2. Please discuss your activity privately with us before messaging the discord.
This applies more to sudden absences or hiatuses, not “hey I won’t be on today!” kind of stuff. If you’re on a hiatus, please message us first before coming back. There are things we need to discuss (ie: new rules, new policies, when are you coming back? Is it in the middle of an event because then we’re gonna have to tell you to wait, etc.) before you fully integrate into the Discord once more.
3. Meta-knowledge and God-modding (rule 10)
Your character shouldn’t know anything unless they’re explicitly told. Let’s talk about meta-knowledge first:
Referencing former threads is very tricky. Unless a character from that thread told you what transpired between themselves and that character, you’re using meta-knowledge. Meta-knowledge sucks all the fun out of roleplaying because if your character just “guesses” about everything that’s actually happened because you’re using what you know as a writer to give your character all the info about Thornewood, there’s no secrets, no news to share, no nothing. Super not fun, you cannot do this. Warnings will be given if we see this behavior starting January 5.
Here’s an aside about god-modding: You, as a writer, cannot control what another character does/did unless you write them. No ifs, ands, or buts. If Mod Case doesn’t describe her character, Lexus, as “brown haired” please don’t say she is. That’s god-modding.
Here’s an example of intense god-modding from a past incident with a former member (remember that former member we go off about sometimes? They did this).
If Case didn’t write that Lex was screaming/shrieking/etc., please don’t say she did. Or, message Case and ask “hey, how would Lex respond to [character] (for instance) pushing her?” It says in our rules that god-modding is unacceptable and you’ll be kicked out if you’re caught doing it (more than once). Don’t risk it!
Honorable mention: don’t meta-disrespect.
THIS IS WAY DIFFERENT THAN META-KNOWLEDGE!
This is by far the rudest thing to do to another writer, and while this hasn’t happened for awhile (remember that evil member who was mean to Hanna? That one, they did this, ya’ll haven’t), it’s always good to reiterate. Don’t ignore a character’s bio. If Keegan is supposed to be smart, he’s smart. If Lexus is supposed to be small, she’s small. Etc., etc. If you don’t feel they’re written that way, it’s not for you to say. You can say someone is being friendly, when they’re typically an intimidating character…but you can’t straight up go, for example, “Cameron wasn’t all that intimidating.” (IE: What the old member did.) If you’re looking to say that, you’d have a better chance wording it like, “Ellie seemed really strong.” Even though Ellie is meant to be a shyer character, you’re not stating she isn’t, you’re just saying your character is perceiving her in another way — which isn’t rude, it’s just how your character is taking her in the moment. It is, however, rude when you straight up go, “nope, they’re dumb/not intimidating/etc.” To reiterate: ya’ll have never done meta-disrespect, ever. You’d get a message immediately. We’d also cry.
4. If you’re writing “tw: [anything]” in the tags, you need to be putting your photo/text/whatever under a read more. (rule 8)
The whole purpose of a read more is to give a member the option to not see this material. Without a read more, the person still has to experience this triggering content, which really isn’t acceptable or fair.
To help this: Starting January 5, please don’t put a million tags when creating a read more. We need to allow people who are triggered by the content to see the trigger warning in the tags. IE: So when Mod Case (#exposed) puts AHHH AHH AHH before the trigger warning...Not that helpful. Just keep it simple: thread/chat: [name], tw: [topic]. Or, if there isn’t a trigger warning but you put a read more because you wrote a lot (like four lengthy paragraphs or more) tag it: read more: length. That’s all you need. Feel free to be silly with tags for non-triggering replies.
5. Mandatory therapy threads (rule 9)
For awhile, many of you didn’t have a therapist so it’s totally fine if you haven’t had a therapy thread. Ever, if that’s the case. However, starting January 5, the mods are going to start encouraging you to have bi-monthly or tri-monthly therapy threads. Obviously, your character will be going to therapy much, much, more often so we don’t feel it’s fair to force you to thread every therapy session. However, to keep with the theme of a mental hospital, therapy threads must occur.
& Don’t forget to maintain a journal! (rule 9)
All patients and staff must maintain a journal. This can either be in the form of a true “dear diary...” entry, or just a tag on your blog.
6. Reading the announcements
Unspoken rule, obviously, but please read these announcements fully! The temptation to skim is intense, we know, but these announcements are really important for world-building, policy changes/updates and protecting our OOC community. Therefore, so we know you’ve seen them, please like the announcements upon reading them. If you forget, we won’t ask you to, so please just take this as a suggestion.
We really hope this reminder of old policies (and the announcement of some new policies!) will help maintain this super awesome atmosphere of amazing writers! If you have any questions, please message Casey and Lauren on discord or send us a message on the main blog!

2022 is here at last! The mod team wishes you health and fortune in the year to come.
Important Information
Before we get into the fun of the new event and the new year, we want to talk seriously about character hoarding. While this is not necessarily a new problem, we have seen an increase in feedback and dissatisfaction about it over the past few months. We require only 3 IC posts a month, one of which can be a drabble, meta post, or non-event ask reply, without a word minimum, and we’re lenient about hiatus exemptions, new muses, and activity warnings. We don’t intend to make our rules stricter as this is part of the appeal of being part of our group, but consistently posting only the bare minimum should not be the norm. In most cases, we try to stop this from occurring by limiting muns from picking up new muses if they don’t have adequate activity, but we understand that the frustration lately has been toward muns who already have multiple muses and aren’t writing.
This is a writing group; we should not have to tell you to write.
Over the years, the mod team has tried to combat this by talking privately with individuals who appear to be hoarding characters. We try to suggest dropping muses until activity can be improved, and allow them to make their own choices. In extreme cases, we increase activity requirements for the individual, although this is a slow process and the mod team has been hesitant to act on this until we see the pattern persisting for several months. As our feedback polls have shown us lately though, this just breeds more frustration among our other, active members. We sympathize with how annoying it can be to wait for months for a reply to a thread, or wanting to interact with a specific character but being unable to because they rarely write, or even wanting to write the character yourself but being frustrated that they’re taken by someone who doesn’t seem to want to, and so the mod team will increase efforts to stop these patterns in the new year.
For 2022, we will begin approaching anyone who posts only on the last day of the month for two months in a row in order to help them evaluate their priorities. Other types of consistent low activity will also be discussed, and if this is a matter of being unable to find partners to write with, we’ll do what we can to help the individual improve activity. These changes will take time, so we ask for your patience, but we thank you for all of your feedback. If you have other thoughts or ideas about how to address this, please leave it on our feedback poll for the month. Now on to a lighter note...

Current Month in TOA: Verdant Rain Moon
Our first lore event of 2022 begins this month! Fantom Loews will begin at 12pm and run until the beginning of February, and will be split into two parts. Please wait until the event begins for the team announcements and more information.
As a reminder, event inventories can be changed until January 5th. That said, we ask that you be patient with the mod team as we sort through them and the monthly claims. We guarantee that everything will be set before the event begins in full, even if it takes us a couple of days to get to your requests. If you’ve forgotten what you signed up with, you can check this doc.
Signups for the event will reopen on January 5th and close again on January 12th, so that will be your last chance to sign up if you haven’t already!
Please don’t forget to leave feedback on our feedback poll for this month! We ask that you refrain from leaving feedback about the event, the combat manual, or weapon balancing until February though, as we’ll have questions specifically for all of that then. It may be helpful to keep a private list of thoughts throughout the month that you can copy/paste for us at the beginning of February.

What do you think? Zankyou no Terror tells the story of Nine and Twelve, the two boys behind the masked figures of Sphinx. Unable to stop the mass panic quickly spreading through the city and desperate for any leads in their investigation, the police struggle to act effectively against these terrorists, with Detective Kenjirou Shibazaki caught in the middle of it all. In it, two teenage boys who identify themselves only as "Sphinx" directly challenge the police, threatening to cause destruction and mayhem across Tokyo. The public are clueless-until, six months later, a strange video makes its way onto the internet.

The government is shattered by their inability to act, and the police are left frantically searching for ways to crack down the perpetrators. Painted in red, the word "VON" is all that is left behind after a terrorist attack on a nuclear facility in Japan. Twelve and Lisa return unharmed, but Nine informs her as a result of her decision to live she has decided become their accomplice. Nine takes a photo of the destruction with his phone. Lisa responds that she does not want to die, sending Twelve to extract her as the building crumbles down. Nine`s terse answer is that he will ask her directly. He asks Nine to decide whether they should kill her or keep her alive. When Twelve is interrupted by Lisa, he gives her one of their stuffed animal bombs and flees the building.

Assuming the government office building free of surveillance, Nine and Twelve place stuffed animals containing thermite-based explosives beneath the sprinkler systems of the main building. At that moment, the greater Tokyo prefecture loses power and citizens in the building are evacuated without Lisa. While at the government office building, she wishes everyone would disappear in frustration. Lisa withdraws further and begins showing signs of an eating disorder. Nine and Twelve interrupt Lisa Mishima`s classmates as they bully her, then take their place undercover in her school. and large sparks will fly, scattered around the Shinjuku area." Despite the video coming to the attention of former detective Shibazaki, he does not initially report it. Referring to themselves as Sphinx 1 and 2, two masked teenagers claim "Tokyo will be enveloped by darkness after 3:00 p.m. Six months after the event, a mysterious video is posted on social media. A perpetrator left the message "VON" at the scene of the crime in red paint. In Aomori, Japan, plutonium was stolen from a nuclear fuel reprocessing facility during a snow storm.
