âWhat I did wasnât personal,â Lena said.
Supergirl had already turned to face her. There were words formed on her lips, but Alex struck first, bringing her viper wit where it wasnât needed or welcome.
âYou had a stash of âKills Kryptoniansâ. Itâs personal,â said Alex.
Lena ignored her, looking directly at Supergirl.
âYou know Iâd never use it that way.â
âYou kept secrets,â said Supergirl. âSecrets change things. I donât like secrets.â
âOh really,â Lena spat, knowing sheâd regret what came next. âYou donât like secrets. Okay. Whatâs your real name?â
Alex flinched. Supergirl stared her down. Even in this miserable place, she was inhumanly beautiful, even if Lena was a little resentful that sheâd been bitching about walking fifty yards a few moments ago, and making light of exercise, when she had the audacity to look like that.
The pause grew heavy. Something seemed to turn behind Supergirlâs eyes, like she was working something out. Her expression softened lightly.
âWhy didnât you come to me about Sam? I thought we trusted each other.â
âHow can I trust you?â Lena said. âYou still hold me at armâs length, wonât let me in, only look for my help when itâs convenient for you. Maybe I should have sought your help, but it isnât like I have you on speed dial, is it? What was I supposed to do, toss myself off a balcony and hope you were having coffee with Kara Danvers again?â
Supergirl flinched. Looking at Lena intently, she stepped closer, and Alex grew visibly nervous.
âSupergirlâŠâ she said.
âYou want to know my real name?â
âYes,â Lena said, her voice suddenly unsteady, her palms breaking out in a sweat despite the cool, stale air. She stood her ground before a being that could level a mountain with a look and held her gaze.
âKryptonian names are patronymics, sort of. A manâs name is his own and that of his family. So, for example, my cousinâs name is Kal-El. His father was Jor-El.â
âI knew that already,â said Lena. âYour cousin shared that an interview with Lois Lane.â
âHe can share his because he has a name that was given to him by his adoptive family,â said Supergirl, her voice softening as she took another step closer. âI still use my Kryptonian first name.â
Something about that itched at Lenaâs brain, but she wasnât sure what.
âSupergirl,â Alex hissed. âYou canât⊠we canâtâŠâ
Supergirl threw her a glance. âWhat? Trust her?â She looked at Lena. âMy father was Joe-Elâs brother, Zor-El. My motherâs name was Alura In-Ze.â
Lena licked her lips.
âThey gave me the name Kara,â said Kara Zor-El. âOn Earth, I accepted the surname of the family that took me in to raise me when my cousin gave me up to them. My full name is Kara Zor-El Danvers.â
Lena stumbled a step back, her mouth falling open comically. It felt like the ground was bursting open and swallowing her up, her stomach dropping through her knees.
No. No, no, no, no. It couldnât be.
âLook at me, Lena.â
Lena looked away from her.â
âLook at me.â
Lena looked.
Lena saw.
Her hair was down, but Lena knew those honeyed curls. Supergirl carried herself differently- her shoulders were proud where Kara tended to hunch down, make herself small, as if to pass through the world without touching it.
Lena hadnât really looked before. Not like this. Sheâd studied Kara, maybe even mooned over Kara a little until she seemed to confirm she was straight by dating that alien jackass. She knew every part of her face from her soft lips to her feel blue eyes to that funny little scar right over her eye.
How had she not seen?
âFucking hell, Kara!â Alex snapped.
Lenaâs lip trembled. She clenched her fists to keep her hands steady, knowing they were shaking.
âYou tricked me,â Lena hissed, âso many times, so many ways, running off and changing into that suit when I thought you were both people. The super-speed, right?â
âIâm sorry,â said Kara, her voice soft. âLetâs justâŠâ
âI wasnât finished,â said Lena. âYou⊠you told me you were having coffee with Kara, but you are Kara. Kara⊠you caught me when they threw me off the balcony. You risked being killed by a kryptonite explosion when Metallo went critical. You⊠you were⊠Jesus Christ, the plane, the chemicals, that was you?â
Karaâs eyes grew wider with every syllable and even in the gloom, Lena could swear she saw tears welling up within them.
âSheâs risked her life for you over and over and over,â Alex said, quietly. âHer faith in you has only wavered the once. Sheâs always defended you and insisted on your innocence even when I was ready to throw you in a cell,â said Alex. âShe defended you from the first. Shit, she defended you from Superman.â
Lena looked from one to the other, staring at them both in turn, trying to keep her wobbly legs from completely collapsing under her.
âI owe you an apology,â said Kara, raising her gaze to meet Lenaâs.
âCan you two do this later?â said Alex. âWeâre on a mission, here.â
Lena swallowed, hard.
âYeah. Letâs go find Sam.â
They did find Sam, eventually, but the plan went sideways. After they were thrust back into their bodies, Supergirl -Kara- curtly told her to help Brainy while she and Alex rushed off.
So Lena helped brainy, until it was time for her to leave. Eventually, she made her way back to her penthouse, and to a glass of single malt, neat. She savored its subtleties as she stared out at the stars.
She knew this would happen sooner or later, so she wasnât surprised when Kara touched down on the balcony, looking utterly stunning and brave and dashing in her fancy suit. She motioned to knock at the glass.
âItâs not locked.â
âHi,â said Kara, stepping inside.
Lena looked up. âI canât believe I didnât see. Youâre just⊠you, in a different outfit.â
That wasnât exactly true, Lena knew. As she walked into Lenaâs living room, Kara had neither the mousy, retiring way of Kara Danvers nor the brash swagger of Supergirl. It was like she was seeing a third person, one whoâd been fully revealed for the first time.
âIâve been going back and forth in my mind, trying to decide what parts of our friendship were real.â
âAll of it,â Kara said.
âIf my brother were here, heâd say that you befriended me to spy on me and use my resources and genius for your own ends.â
âThatâs not true.â
Lena took a sip, and breathed in through her parted lips after swallowing to savor it.
âI know. He said the same thing about Jack, actually. Lex always tries to convince me that anyone else in my life is just after my name or money or body.â
Kara said nothing. Lena looked up.
âJust because heâs a madman who wants to gaslight me into being a supervillain doesnât mean heâs always wrong. Does it?â
Kara swallowed, hard.
âYouâve been very insistent on being my friend,â said Lena. âYou practically barged into my life and broke down all my barriers with your earnest kindness, but you were keeping yourself behind another one.â
âThe first time I ever saw you, I knew in my heart that you were nothing like him,â said Kara. âI remember every detail.â
âIn my office, with Kent.â
âNo. In the helicopter. That was the first time I saw you.â
Lena swirled the dregs in her glass. âOh. Right.â
âI just had to know you. You were compelling, and the way you treated me in your office that day was a huge part of that. You seemed so⊠I donât even know how to describe it. I just knew I had to be close to you.â
A fit of pique moved her arm before she could contain herself, and Lena threw the glass. Kara snatched it from the air and placed it on the table without spilling a drop.
She was closer now, standing within armâs reach.
âYou canât just say things like that to me,â Lena almost hissed, her voice loosened by the whiskey and the one before and the one before that.
âWhy?â said Kara.
Lena looked up, swaying slightly.
âYou told me your name.â
âI should have sooner. We could have worked together. We could have done a lot of things.â
âFuck,â Lena snapped. âYouâre doing it again! Knock it off?â
âKnock what off?â
âYou goddamn well what,â said Lena. âOr maybe you really donât.â
âIâm sorry,â said Kara. âI just donât understand. Can you⊠do you want to tell me what you mean?â
âI⊠sit down.â
Kara swept her cape aside and sat primly in a side chair, folding her hands in her lap, worrying at the back of her thumb with her other thumb. God, she even had Karaâs mannerisms.â
âIâm gay,â said Lena.
Kara swallowed. âBut⊠you were with Jack⊠and James⊠and you really seem to like the letter J,â Kara said, lamely.
âItâs called bisexuality, Kara. Itâs a thing.â
âOh, I um, I donât really get âsexualities.â On Krypton, we didnât have sexual preferences. We didnât choose our partners at all, everything was arranged.â
âThat sounds awful,â said Lena.
Kara looked away. âIt was our way and it worked. We had stable families, and most people had a kind of love. My parents loved each other.â
Lena sighed. âI wish I could say that. One of my parents didnât love anyone but himself. Your sister is gay, Kara. How can you not understand it?â
âI understand that. I just find the whole thing confusing, and overwhelming. I keep looking for this spark that everyone talks about, and these âgut feelingsâ, but every time I think Iâve had it, it wasnât right.â
âIt seemed right with Mon-El. Oh. Oh Jesus. You banished your own boyfriend from Earth.â
Kara shook her head. âI know it did. I thought it did. I just never⊠it was the idea of him. I was checking a box. I was with him to have a boyfriend, not to have him. Weâre really different people.â
âWhy are we talking about this again?â said Lena.
Kara suddenly looked nervous, and thus even more like herself.
âI donât know. It just seems to have happened. Kind of like our whole friendship. I never made a plan to be your friend. I never had an agenda. I just needed you in my life without knowing why. You just bring me joy.â
Lena wanted to laugh. She wanted to cry, she wanted to scream.
You big indestructible goof, that is the spark!
âI should have told you about me after Medusa. I should have trusted you then, but Alex talked me out of it. I didnât push past when it counted. I know you doubt how much you mean to me now, and Iâm so sorry I did that.â
âIâd never hurt you, ever,â said Lena. âEven if you werenât Kara. But I could never hurt her. You.â
âI know.
âFor what itâs worth,â said Lena. âI felt it too. That pull, that need to know you. Thatâs why I allowed you to get close to me instead of being bundled off by my security. I felt it from the first, that day you came to my office. I might have felt it a little during the helicopter crash, too.â
Kara nodded.
âI feel like thereâs something weâre both not saying.â
Lena licked her lips.
âI have to stop the worldkillers. I have to save Sam. I have to fix it all. I just needed to talk to you first. See you first, see you again, just the two of us.â
Lena nodded, swallowing.
âI guess I should go.â
Lena wanted to tell her not to. To ask her to spend the night, change out of that ridiculous suit, to just be Kara and stay with her, but it dawned on her now that it could never be quite like that again. Kara was Supergirl and Supergirl had to be shared with the world.
âI want to help. Iâll come to the DEO.â
âOkay,â said Kara. âIâll see you there.â
She stood up and walked to the balcony, pausing before she opened the door. She didnât turn when she spoke, as if she was afraid to face Lena, to face the answer.
âDo you think, when this is over, we can try it again? Try to fix it?â
âIs that something you want?â Said Lena.
âThat pull is still there.â
âI know,â said Lena. âI feel it too.â
Karaâs shoulders rose and fell, as if sheâd just rolled a great burden from her back.
âOkay,â she said. âOkay. Iâll see you back at the DEO. Goodnight, Lena.â
âGoodnight, Kara.â
She slid the balcony door open and stepped out, pausing for just the briefest second before lifting off, sending a gentle gust of chilly night air rolling into Lenaâs penthouse.
Lena let the breeze flow in for a while before she stood up and went to the door, meaning to close it. Instead, she stepped outside, leaning on the railing as the chill raised gooseflesh on her arms.
âI feel it, too.â

[Haven't dropped a fic sneak peek in a while. And yes, despite the word count, this is just a peek. Very self-indulgent fic on a Supergirl-verse Legion origin story for Brainy, starring a certain descendant of Nia's that I have yet to write for. For anyone interested, the fic is under the cut. đ]
Querl Dox was easily the strangest Coluan that Nura had ever seen. With his washed-out blue skin and frazzled hair as stark as her own, had she not dreamt of him beforehand, she never would have placed him as a native of Colu.
The three circles on his forehead glowed dully â some kind of transdermal implant, she suspected. A body modification? They werenât uncommon on this side of the galaxy, although Coluan mods were never usually so exposed.
He didnât wear them as a mark of pride, that was for sure. They looked cumbersome on his thin frame, odd ends of wiry hair thrown overtop in a vain attempt to disguise them. It could have been how he held himself naturally, she supposed - hunched over like a moody teenager trying to mask his face from the world.
No, that was exactly what he was. A teenager. Maybe pushing late adolescence by now, just like her. Not that age meant much to a Coluan, all they really cared about was intellectual maturity. Still, Nura thought it would be a few years yet until he fully grew into those implants.
Maybe they were an aid of some sort â not that heâd ever admit to it.
Nura smirked. Not yet, at least.
He hadnât moved since sheâd started watching him. Comfortably unobservable from behind a screen of one-way plasma glass, there was no way he could have known she was there. It wasnât until Mon-El and Imra entered through the main doorway that he'd known he had visitors at all.
He didnât so much as glance in their direction. Instead, he remained perched on the edge of the single bed heâd been granted, head bowed towards his knees, the glow of his implants reflecting back against his face like a ghostly shadow.
This was the make it or break it moment, as Mon-El had once called it. The part where an offer went one of two ways. While many wayward teens would have jumped at the chance to join their ranks, appealing to potential Legionnaires wasnât always so easy.
After all, this was the first time that initiation would be conducted from a prison cell.
Nura followed Imra and Mon-Elâs progress in a trance-like state, her mind dipped halfway into the future as her visions spun duplicates of the very conversation being had. She hummed along to the tune of the words yet to be spoken, mouthing Mon-Elâs opening line, reciting it from memory.
âSo,â Mon-El said casually, stopping in front of the cell that housed one Querl Dox. He caught Imraâs eye. âInterplanetary grand-theft auto, huh? Iâm told you souped up some very nice engines for some very bad people.â He cracked an easy smile. âWhat were you trying to be, some kind of mechanic?â
Silence followed. Querl kept his head down, hands wrung loosely by his knees.
Mon-El wasnât deterred quite so easily. âNo, youâre right. Your talents would be wasted on something like that.â He folded his arms, widening his stance. âWe donât see too many Coluans this far from home.â
That got a reaction. Nura was just able to catch it beneath the shroud of Querlâs matted hair - a twitch of the lips as he bared his teeth at the ground. Â
âAlthough, I canât say Iâm surprised,â Mon-El continued, feigning ignorance. âWith a family like yours, Iâm sure itâs better you keep your distance, right?â
A sound rumbled from Querlâs chest, something that could have passed as a laugh if it hadnât been for the jarring robotic quality. He rubbed at his wrist idly, scanning the floor beyond his cell. âSo, you figured it out,â he muttered. âAm I supposed to be impressed?â
Mon-El pulled a face. âI mean, maybe a little. The whole blue thing nearly threw us off. Although, Iâve got some second-hand experience with your family. Indigo was one of your relatives, wasnât she?â
Querl stiffened. âA distant relation.â
âRight.â Mon-El nodded along. âLike Brainiac.â
Querl flinched, meeting Mon-Elâs eye for the first time. Behind that shock of white hair was an alarmingly dark expression, one that bore into Mon-El with an intensity that twisted Nuraâs stomach into knots. Sheâd known mostly what to expect from Querl Dox, and sheâd warned her friends as much. If Mon-El hadnât been listening to her then, he would certainly understand the might of the mind sat before him now.
Querl wasnât just some moody teenager. With one wrong word, he could become their most formidable enemy to date.
It wonât happen like that, Nura reminded herself. This would all be fine. It had to be. Sheâd seen it.
Sort of.
Imra took Mon-Elâs arm, making out as though she was offering him a steadying hand. Nura could read between the lines. She disapproved of Mon-Elâs method â she was probably giving him a psychic reprimand in the same gesture.
Imra Ardeen was a woman of few words during most first-contacts with Legion potentials, but that didnât mean she was just some impassive tag-along. If anything, Imraâs job was the most critical to their success. While Mon-El did the talking, she was already reading the thoughts of their would-be recruits, acting as a living lie-detector to ensure the validity of their intentions. That job was made a little more difficult with the psychic shielding fitted to any standard U.P prison cell, but not impossible. She was well enough acquainted with the mind from her broad studies on Titan to read a personâs expressions just as easily. Â
Mon-El sighed, nodding almost imperceptibly in Imraâs direction. He scratched his jaw, clearing his throat. âLook,â he said levelly, âif you think thatâs why weâre here, it isnât. Itâs just, I notice youâve hopped between a lot of jail cells these last few years. Petty crime, mostly. Wrong place, wrong time, right?â
Querl narrowed his eyes.
âExcept,â Mon-El hastened, âif youâre a Brainiac, that makes you pretty damn smart. Smart enough to know how not to get caught.â When Querl didnât say anything to that, Mon-El relaxed, smiling knowingly. âYeah,â he murmured, âthought so.â
Querlâs nostrils flared in irritation. Mon-El was playing on some very dangerous territory to dangle something like that over Querlâs head. Implying he knew something that Querl didnât â well â it was the surest way to piss off any Coluan. Nura held her breath.
âThought what?â Querl spat, teeth clenched tight.
If Mon-El felt ill at ease, he didnât show it. Instead, he grinned. âThis cell,â he said, âitâs Coluan force-shield tech, right?â He drew an outline of the cell walls with his fingers, marking all four edges as though preparing to take an old-fashioned photograph. âA few years outdated by science police standards; they probably shouldâve gone for the upgrade.â He winked. âEven with power dampeners, your intellect is still unmatchable, especially with home advantage. You could break out at any time. But you donât. For the same reason you got caught in the first place.â He tipped his chin forward seriously. âWant me to keep going?â
Querl scoffed, though Nura could hear the strain in it.
Mon-El didnât need much encouragement. âOkay, well, the last ship you souped up was being used as a getaway vehicle for a string of interplanetary robberies. The most recent robbery, the one that got you and the rest of your little crew incarcerated â huh - itâs pretty interesting. Your ship gets into a chase with the science police, and in the process, it ends up on a collision course with a civilian air-car. Your ship has shielding, itâd be fine, but that civilian ship wouldâve been blown out of the sky. No survivors.â
Querlâs glare was practically poisonous.
âWeird, then,â Mon-El continued amiably, âthat before both ships can collide, yours experiences a total power loss. Stalls and starts falling mid-flight, giving the authorities the opportunity to snag your ship before it can do any damage. Now, theyâre saying it was an engine malfunction on all the official documentation, and maybe thatâs true. But Iâm thinking with your skill, thereâs no way that engine went in faulty.â He crossed his arms behind his back. âDo you want to know what I think? I think someone tampered with it in a way that wouldâve been totally imperceptible to the rest of the crew. Because the person that did it not only built it, but wouldnât have needed to touch it at all.â
âAre you accusing me of something?â Querl muttered. He made a flippant gesture to his cell. âBecause if you are, then I think youâll find Iâm already in the right place.â
Mon-El shook his head slowly. âSee, I donât think you are.â He stepped forward, just as Imra did the same. âMy nameâs Mon-El, and this is Imra Ardeen. We represent the Legion of Superheroes. Weâre a pretty small organisation right now, but weâve built up something of a reputation here on Earth - as well as the rest of the United Planets thanks to some of our newest members. We have a set of rules, but the most important one is to put the needs of the people before our own. To protect life. Never kill.â His lips quirked. âIâd say you displayed that admirably.â
Nura watched wide-eyed from her invisible vantage, knuckles pressed tight against her lips. Sheâd seen the outcome of the dayâs events a dozen times over in her dreams, but even that wasnât enough to quell her anxiety. Something felt wrong. She just couldnât put her finger on what it was.
As though in answer to her fears, Querl drew back, enough that he could look Mon-El squarely in the eye. His hair fell away from his face, drawing around the edges of his implants like a display curtain. âMon-El. Yes,â he breathed the word slowly, his dark eyes glistening with knowledge far beyond his years, âI know who you are.â He cocked his head suddenly. âIt always causes a stir when someone breaks the boundaries of spacetime. You are from the past. From a dead world. The sister planet of Krypton.â His lips curled with disdain. âDaxam.â
Nura swore under her breath. Out in the cell room, Mon-El nodded, a touch of defensiveness in his tone. âYesâ"
But Querl didnât let him finish. âYou profess these ideals,â he spat, âand yet you have built a monument to your hubris with this⊠Legion.â He sneered at them both, drawing his fire on Imra next. âYou wear your Saturn identifier with pride, Titanian. Telepathy is a most valuable gift in the art of subterfuge.â He narrowed his eyes. âAll I see here is a collection of powers you can utilise to meet your own ends. And nothing good comes out of that.â
Nura jolted towards the glass as another dream claimed her, Mon-Elâs words flashing in her mind seconds before they touched his lips.
âDonât say it,â she gasped.
But it was too late.
âI suppose you would know all about collections,â Mon-El said, the charm in his tone all-but gone.
Nura swore again. Mon-El might as well have just declared war.
âVisiting hours have ended,â Querl said, his voice tight. He lay down abruptly on his side, turning away from them both so that he faced the wall. âDo not come back.â
----------------
Nura waited impatiently at the view box door, stepping aside just before it pushed open.
âI think that went well,â Mon-El remarked as he and Imra walked through, brushing himself down with a casual air.
Imra rolled her eyes. âYou shouldnât have engaged with his snark.â
âSo, you agree it was snark!â
âIt was a cover! I donât need my powers to see that. It was all over his face.â
âThis should be working,â Nura cut in, kicking herself from the wall as she stalked past them both towards the plasma glass view screen. She stabbed her finger at the Coluan still lying dormant on the other side. âI dreamed it. Querl Dox will agree to join the Legion. Today.â
Imraâs brow creased sympathetically. âI donât doubt that, Nura,â she said gently. âItâs justâŠâ
âDo you have any idea how it happens?â Mon-El asked. âA conversation starterâor a cheat sheet on what to say that wonât piss him off?â
âI couldâve told you that,â Imra muttered.
âYou know thatâs not how it works,â Nura sighed. âI donât know exactly how it happens, only that it will. Besides, you two are always the ones that bring in the new recruits. It made sense.â
âYeah, but thatâs usually because we want to,â Mon-El muttered, flinching against another psychic reprimand.
Nura glared through the window, trying to make a clean study of their unwilling recruit. Heâd rolled onto his back since Mon-El and Imra had left, his arms crossed smartly over his chest. To an untrained eye, it looked like he was in some sort of meditative state. Whatever it was, Nura was well enough acquainted with the unconscious realm to know it was mostly for show.
âQuerl Dox is important,â Nura said, repeating her earlier words back at herself. Or, maybe they were her future words? Sometimes it was so hard to tell. She cleared her throat, raising her voice. âIf the Legion is going to continue, weâll need him. His intellect will save lives. AndâŠâ She stopped herself, clenching her hands.
âWhat is it?â Imra prompted.
Nura shook her head. âWe donât just need him. I think heâŠâ She couldnât say it yet; couldnât betray his pride like that, not before heâd even met her for the first time.
There was a good way to rectify that, at least.
Nura sucked in a deep breath, pulling back from the window. âMy visions are never wrong. Let me try and talk to him.â
âGo ahead,â Mon-El said, offering her the length of the hallway. âBut Iâll warn you, heâs stubborn.â
Nura smiled grimly. âThat makes two of us.â

So, my brain going off in random directions again. This time with Supergirl and the not particularly well handled Kara/Mon-el romance arc again.
And.
I think I'm on to something about how that ship could have been fixed to work better.
So, they don't hook up in S2. Mon-El has to unlearn bad behaviors in regards to misogyny and Kara has to unlearn her childhood prejudices about Daxamites. It's not easy for either one of them and they both screw up. Kara has to realize she's in the wrong about things and make those up to Mon-el, so it's not just Mon-El being shown to make apologies, grow, and change. They become friends by the end of S2 and have been demonstrated to have made each other better people for having forged that friendship.
Then, to avoid Mon-El having to leave the show, instead of his mom killing his dad and the atmosphere of Earth getting seeded with lead (there is a reason we don't want lead in our water!!! it's still dangerous to humans!!!), Mon-El and Kara save his dad, imprison his mother, and the Daxamites leave to go establish a new homeworld somewhere relatively nearish but not already populated by another species. Maybe leave behind a ship for Mon-el so he can join them later if he wishes, but ultimately his dad respects that Mon-el isn't ready to rejoin his people yet.
If there is to be any ship-teasing between Kara and Mon-el in this modified S2 then it doesn't happen until the big finale with the fight against Mon-El's mother. And both of them are taken aback by the realization there's sparkage there.
S3 is where the ship teasing would begin in earnest and culminating in the two of them getting together at mid-season. Having established a hard-won friendship, showing they're both able to bring out the best in each other without needing romantic motivation first, and giving Mon-El some better characterization than he got in S2 would have made an S3 romance between them way more believable than their weird on/off/on/but now i must go thing that we got in S2. And by bumping Kara/Mon-El down a season, that'd give Kara/James time to actually do their relationship justice before having them mutually break up to stay friends instead.
It'd also be interesting for Argo City to have eventually joined the Daxamite colony once it was revealed that Kara's mom was alive after all. It would have made for some fun background tension and even plots taking place entirely off Earth where Kara and Mon-El have to deal with the tension between the peoples of Krypton and Daxam trying to cohabit the same world. Delve into some of the backstory between both peoples - was Daxam originally a colony of Krypton that struck independence? That would certainly make for an interesting level of nuance in the struggle for creating a fair form of leadership for their now joint colony. Especially when the World Killer thing starts happening - if that was a cult that spanned both Krypton and Daxam but at first appears to be just a Kryptonian thing?
Give me the intrigue. :D
Anyway, canon Kara/Mon-El got strangled by the red string so badly, they never really had a chance to develop any real on screen chemistry. (Not helped by Kara and Lena making heart eyes at each other every chance they got.) But the ship could have been really interesting if it had been given a chance to really breathe and develop more naturally.

hi so i watched the supergirl finale. and like. what the fuck guys.
that might have been the biggest queer analogy i've ever seen without it being explicitly stated. the whole talk where kara compares how she feels like she's been trapped, how she's been hiding and never living her authentic truth to alex feeling free and joyful with her wife.
the life she wants to have. the metaphors of her not feeling ready to come out. the constant parallels to alex's journey and her wedding vows resonating with kara so deeply. CAT SAYING "most of all, i hope you choose to become your full self."
TEARS. CRYING. LIKE HAPPY PRIDE MONTH??? I GUESS???
and then, AND THEN- out of every single person, lena luthor is the one she has her last conversation with. she is the one to support her, to believe in her, like she always has. lena comparing how both of them were always being told who they were supposed to be, the roles society set up for them, and how they both defied it by becoming friends.
no, because don't get me started with how lillian said in the very beginning of the episode to lena: "live your life the way you want to live it." the insane queer metaphors and parallels with her magic being programmed out of her as a kid because 'it wasn't how the luthor family was supposed to be".
lena turning to kara in that conversation, saying she's finally living her own life and it feels amazing, inviting kara to join her and go through and take on that journey together. kara wondering how it would feel like to connect with someone as her full self NOT KNOWING THAT PERSON IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER? lena just responding "i think it'd be empowering" WISTFULLY? i can't do this guys i sobbed.
like TF DO YOU MEAN "i didn't get to grow up to be the person i was supposed to be, and i think it's the same for you" and "i give people speeches on how to live their best lives, but i'm too afraid to live my own".
also, ain't no way they killed off william AND made mon-el come back JUST to confirm that ship was never becoming canon. the writers really said yeah, both of them will be the only people at the wedding with absolutely no other love interests except each other!!
finally, on a less serious note, in that last cat + kara conversation, the way she said-
"i just feel..."
"bi...furcated?"
and i was like LMAO WAS CAT JUST GONNA SAY "KARA, YOU'RE BI GIRLIE."
tl;dr: that was an insane show to go through, i can only imagine how the fans reacted, but man. queerbaiting's really something isn't it. i'm gonna cry and read more supercorp fanfiction.
#oh and the whole kara vs supergirl thing theyve had this overarching story with the whole show#and how kara feels like she doesn't deserve to be human and be KARA bc the whole world's on her shoulders#and lena being the one to tell her she loves kara danvers not supergirl again and again like she's the only one (beside alex)#to see her as her true self and love her for all that she is#like âsupergirl may have saved me but kara danvers you are my heroâ#like r u kidftin me youve got to be joe king youre lichterally joe king#i was waiting for a she ra level ending where kara is asked what she wants not what the world wants and she chooses lena#guys please i need a catradora level fix it fic#supergirl#fandom rant#supercorp#lena luthor#kara danvers#my ships#mine#lena x kara#kara zor el#supergirl finale#supercorp canon#supercorp rant

Mon-el x Reader
Warning : aucun
Mots : 110
Masterlist
