Steggy Week 2024 - Day 7 (Free Choice)

I wanted to revisit my Western AU from last year because even though Horse Ranch is one of my favorite packs, I haven't played around with it much. First I de-modernized one of the small ranch houses in Chestnut Ridge. Then I updated Steve and Peggy's wardrobes to fit the mid-1800s (with a few modern fillers when I couldn't find something I liked). Each outfit that has a hat also has a duplicate without the hat.

Everyday: Bonnet, dress.

Formal: Snood hair and accessory, net overlay, dress.

Athletic: Bonnet, dress.

Sleep/swim: Nightgown.

Party: Bonnet, dress*.

Hot Weather: Bonnet, dress.

Cold weather: Bonnet, dress.

Necklace.

Braid hair tie.

Hair for everyday and hot weather / formal and cold weather.

Everyday: All EA.

Formal: Full body outfit.

Athletic: Shirt, pants.

Sleep/Swim: Romper.

He hummed and nodded.  Falling in love under the circumstances had been so unlikely.  Maybe that was what had made it so strong.  Despite all the hurdles set out in front of them, they’d still fallen head over heels for each other.  

They needed this though.  He’d heard these trips were a test.  Many couples broke up after a weekend away because when you ended up alone sharing space, even for a short time, compatibility was tested.  He was confident but he knew it was needed.  The couldn’t just continue on being together with an audience.

“I’m so looking forward to it.  I booked a restaurant for dinner and we can take walks through the woods.  There’s even a fire pit outside. We can make smores.”

Of course, Peggy was absolutely looking forward to being alone with Steve. Just the two of them, with no one to bother them. But, that didn't mean she wanted to spend every second inside the cabin. She hoped they would find some fun things to do along the way.

With stops and everything, it would probably take them closer to three hours. But, she didn't mind. "You know, this is the first time we've really been alone. We've been in bed together, but we were also surrounded by a dozen other people. Now we won't have to worry about anyone else bothering us, or needing anything, or having to rush off at a moment's notice."

AU where Steve and Peggy work together either modern day or post war.

They fight together, Steve doesn't kill unless he needs to because he loves to use the terms "my wife will handle you."

And its mainly getting to use my wife.

Theyre working late, the guy keeps taunting Steve and Steve and Peggy kiss in the doorway and tells him to switch. That she can handle him.

While Peggy works they have a nonchalant conversation about what to do for dinner and what their weekend plan is.

Just Steggy being so couply and domestic but still spies and cute.

Even when they have kiddos it comes to their advantage and they bring the baby around all the time. Coulson and May end up watching baby Oliver most of the time.

Theres hundreds of photos of agents with their kiddos and if an enemy dares to use their kid against them its all hell breaks loose

Love Steggy, but I really think their Endgame ending was terrible and that they should've been a "right person wrong time" kind of romance - something tragic that would've been beautiful but never could be. It completely assassinated both their character arcs and left more plot holes than credible answers.

I mean... Steve's entire arc was about him moving on and learning to live in this new era, and regardless of how selfish he could be at times he was always helping someone. I don't really see how he would suddenly leave everything he found in favor of the past, for no one's benefit but his own? It would've been best to have him retire off somewhere and be hinted at once in a while.

And Peggy had clearly already moved on from Steve, as we see in several Agent Carter scenes with her straight-up saying goodbye and then finding love again. Furthermore, when he visited on the modern era, she told him that she got to live /her/ life and that he should live /his/ so clearly she was doing just fine without him. Not to mention, I doubt Steve would've been able to just sit there and lie to her like an asshole, and if she knew about the full extent of it I can bet she would've been pissed. Yikes.

Just sharing my thoughts. If you like the ending, good for you! Canon is subjective and I'm gonna pretend it never existed as I value character consistency.

First Ship: Serena x Darien from the U.S. dubbed "Sailor Moon" eps in the '90s. The morning I watched the episode where Mamoru dies before I caught the school bus, I cried in the computer lab telling my friends about it and they didn't sit with me at lunch because I was killing the vibe. (When it comes to fandom, do not cite the deep magic to me, witch. I was there when it was written. :D)

Outside of my fics, I'm working on completing a novel that I've been trying to do for over 10 years. It's a fiction piece based on my real life experiences after my dad passed away, and it's probably never going to get published, but I feel an obligation to finish it.

Still on my wish list

Okay so we know from Endgames that old man Steve is living out his days in the modern era. So like he was definitely there when Peggy died and when Peggy was going through her days in the hospital.

Okay so imagine this: Old man Steve sees his younger self at Peggy's funeral and approaches him and simply introduces himslef as Peggy's husband, no name. He comforts young Steve and tells him what he knows he needed to hear in that moment. Telling him how much he meant to Peggy and how his visits had made her so happy. How she vauled the relationship they had back in the war and never forgot about him. He also shares stories with him of Peggy's amazing and happy life. How she lived a fulfilled and enriched life. Maybe even sprinkles in a casual vauge warning not to go overboard with the civil war.

Then years later when Steve goes back in time to be with Peggy he thinks about the old man and feels guilty about taking away the life the old man had with Peggy. Yet as the years go by Steve starts to see that he was the old man the whole time because many of the stories the old guy had told steve start to become stories of his own life.

apologies for the delayed response- here are some headcanons i like!

-peggy loves to softly/randomly start singing "star spangled man with a plan" every now and then to tease steve and he groans every time. sometimes it ends up with him chasing her around the house and her of course expertly dodging him as she gets through the song (most of the time)

-phillips still believed erskine should choose hodge for the procedure and was about to do as so but then peggy spoke up backing erskine, and as phillips' right hand man, he listened, mumbled something about how 'i hope i dont regret this" but eventually signed off on steve being the final choice trusting peggy's judgement since she in fact- supervised all operations of the division

-i love a headcanon that since steve was colorblind before the serum, once the procedure was finished and he was able to see color- he was taken back by how red peggys lipstick was; same goes for the red dress!! another reason why he loves her in red so much- it was the first strong color he saw once he came out of the pod

-peggy lied about her age in order to serve in WW2. i love this one bc, as we all know, steve lied multiple times trying to get into the army. twin flames am i right?! i know this headcanon veers from the agent carter tv show, but 50000% believe in another universe peggy did indeed get into the SSR by lying about her age. i'm even more convinced of this due to her quote from the comic when steve tries to ask her to go home so that shell be safe and she replies "this war is everybody's war. i was needed and i answered the call." and then he says he understands, he explains he asked it because he cant bear to lose her. and then she continues to fight

-peggy hates the lack of u's in the american language. steve constantly adds extra u's where it isn't needed. peggy then replies and removes all the u's out of spite

-the howling commandos relently tease/teased steve and peggy on how badly they fail at trying to be subtle

-steve loves peggy in glasses

as for au's, i'd love to have them as captain america and captain carter fighting battles together! whether it's modern day or set during the war. or even them on missions together in non au's. i love their dynamic so much whether peggy has the serum or not. i love how she's capable and a phenomenal spy in the infinity saga with nothing to her name other than her bravery, red lipstick and gun
