watched the book of eli last night. yep this one is going on my fave apunkalypse aesthetic movies list. danngngngn. ghngnhghghghhhh
#the book of eli#like FINALLY#a movie that accepts the christian worldview as fact#takes itself seriously#is a good movie in its own right#AND it's got that post-apocalyptic wasteland aesthetic???#along with all the opportunities for moral dilemmas and nobility and Character that that aesthetic comes with?#holy smokes you guys!!!!#i am holding this movie. cradling it like a baby.#it scratched an itch i never knew i had#OH and did i mention it's an incredible allegory of the very real problems#with the christian 'church' as we know it today?#the way it has been misused to support human power structures and enable abuse?#the way even well-meaning christians who in trying to 'preserve' biblical truth in the modern era#all too often fall away from the principles taught in it. like love and mercy#(yes i know this is me. arghh.)#i do think the movie could've done better in its portrayal of...like SA and stuff#mmfr did this better imo#and also yeah there were some plot holes and i don't think eli could've done a lot of the stuff he did being blind#but stilllllll
