i was out and about for half of this day bc—

🩺 obgyne visit ｡ﾟ•┈୨♡୧┈• ｡ﾟ finally got my first dose of hpv vaccine. two more doses to go! also did my pcos routine checkup. results were as expected, and yet, i still cried bc of it. no surprises there, really. overall, im grateful bc duh, ive got no major thingy to worry about naman down there, ykwim.

🍵 chill tOime ｡ﾟ•┈୨♡୧┈• ｡ﾟ went to one of my go-to cafe restaurants. im so happeh they opened this branch, and they finally hv meals on their menu! i stayed here for hoOOOOooOOOooours—for lunch i had their bacon slab something + sea salt latte, and then for dinner i had their buffalo chicken something salad + mango hibiscus. i also prepared an ig post which my brain turned into a full blown activity (((i had so much fun making the caption for this ♡))) all the while watching bones, and talking to my sibs + gOrL cousins. i miss them.

💆‍♀️ relaxation tOime ｡ﾟ•┈୨♡୧┈• ｡ﾟ decided to get my monthly massage today. hihi. my body has been aching lately, especially my hips and lower back. got a deep tissue massage, and oh my gosh, i think ive found the masseuse for me. she was amazing! i really felt like all the tension has left my body, oh my gosh, i so love her!!! i took a mental note of her name so that i could request her for my next massage.

💞 home at last ｡ﾟ•┈୨♡୧┈• ｡ﾟ surprised moosey with a custom vanilla bean latte ♡ i also surprised him by going straight home, instead of him picking me up. all my gala kasi, hatid sundo niya talaga me, and i was just feeling like ~actually~ coming home to him and to the furbebis this time, with a pasalubong in hand, so there i was booking a grab ride even though i was actually scared and anxious doing that (((bc my cousin had two unfortunate grab rides recently))). i also brought home my fave harry potter butterbeer. hihi.

Gideon even says that Hannibal, like a snail, enjoys eating in company. We see him enjoying being with Bedelia. So, he is a social creature in many ways, but neither Gideon nor Bedelia can be substitutes for the one who captured his heart, and that's Will Graham."

Do you think during the Anthony Dimmond scene where Bedelia tries to run away from Hannibal is when Hannibal decides that Bedelia was not a good replacement for Will and starts to miss Will? Is that why he made the Human heart because he was pining for Will ?

Thank you! <3 At the risk of repeating that Fuller quote verbatim, yes, Hannibal totally makes the human heart because he's pining for Will. Very "tortured artist writing a love poem" vibes. Constructing the tableau is probably cathartic in its own right, but it's also:

a siren call to lure Will to Italy so that Hannibal can see him again (pathetic)

an "I miss you, please, we can still make this work" (desperate)

an invitation to "enter the foyer of his mind and stumble down the hall of his beginnings," because Hannibal still wants Will to try to know him, even if only to hunt him down and kill him (sad)

Placement in the Norman Chapel means that Hannibal gets to watch Will enter his memory palace both physically (moving through the literal space) and figuratively (piecing together the message in his tableau) at the same time. There's something so intimate about Will walking around that building during the investigation, the only one to know that, in a way, they're inside Hannibal. I always wonder if Hannibal gets off on that when he's spying on Will from above...

Regarding Bedelia: You probably didn't mean it this way, but the recent ship war between bedannibal and hannigram is sooo tired imo. Before I dive into analysis, I want to be clear that I fully support Hannibal and Bedelia banging on every surface of their luxurious palazzo apartment. Acknowledging that both Hannibal and Will have had multiple loves in their lives doesn't detract from hannigram. Personally, I find that aspect of their relationship beautiful and relatable.

The way I see it, Bedelia has been rejecting Hannibal continuously since their first interaction in Sorbet. ("We're not friends," "Since you refuse invitations to my dinner table, this is the only way I could cook for you," "I'm ending our patient-psychiatrist relationship," "Is this professional curiosity? Almost entirely.") During their time in Florence, she refuses to eat anything with a central nervous system. She's not amused when Hannibal contemplates killing Sogliatto or when Dimmond discovers their secret, as her primary concern is lying low. Her trying to run away in Antipasto is merely the rejection that convinces Hannibal that she'll never fully accept him.

For Hannibal, it also recontextualizes his past relationship with Will. From his perspective, the two critical differences between Will and Bedelia are:

Will willingly ate human flesh with him. It doesn't matter that it was part of an act. It doesn't matter if Will hated it at the time. Hannibal will always dream of their Naka Choko dinner date. That type of acceptance ("eating in company") is what he wants more than anything.

Will's empathy allowed him to return Hannibal's affection. Their relationship began with betrayal, but in the end, Will chose Hannibal, even if Hannibal didn't see it that way at the time.

Jack sums it up perfectly here:

At the same time, S3a Will has a lot of the same hang ups as Bedelia: fear of getting caught by the authorities, fear of losing himself in Hannibal's influence, not wanting to be killed and eaten, etc. So it's not so much that Hannibal decides that "Bedelia wasn't a good replacement for Will." It's that he learns to value Will's potential (aka his malleability, as Chiyoh puts it) after Bedelia resoundingly shuts him down.

In summary, sitting on the train en route to Palermo, Hannibal is heartbroken at Bedelia's rejection and longs for the acceptance he found with Will. He wants someone who will delight and participate in wickedness, not tolerate and observe.

To be honest, I find it more interesting to compare Will to people like Gideon and Tobias from Hannibal's perspective. As you quoted Fuller, "Neither Gideon nor Bedelia can be substitutes for the one who captured his heart." What's wrong with Gideon then? But that's a topic for a different post lol.

Bright uncontrollable flashes could be seen to the average bystander should they have walked by at that moment. They might have written it off as just a tech rehearsal. Some costumes, like the Sickle Slingers or JellyJolts, their abilities had been enhanced to the point that it was almost lethal, while others, such as Air Cats or Bubble Blowers, found themselves staying in the air for a longer period of time...maybe too long.

Now, In the theater, the Wonderworldlians tried to get her to use her newfound power to create a new entrance to Wonderworld through the Barnum Naka School's theater...but even then, that seemed to be a problem. Between the uncontrollable bursts of power, and the looming threat that was still Yin looking for the heart of Wonderworld, it was going to take a lot to get that magic under control...

As a writer he's very mostly miss with me then hit. Comic book is a visual medium, but he's very no show but just tell. A lot of the melodramatic moments in Archie's run in Megaman could be stronger if he managed to show it without explaining Everything to the audience. The same with idw Sonic having a long speech about his morals falls flat when when its so heavy handed instead of Sonic showing his morals in his actions. Its why I stopped collecting the idw series.

The other problem is the references full of nostalgic baiting.

The same with Frontiers, some of the powerful emotional scenes fall flat because the characters go like " BUT SONIC RENMEBER WHEN THIS HAPPENED IN THIS GAME?"

It's a little too much and not just my taste. That being said he's obviously not the worst writer involved with Sonic, Ken Penders wins that crown and I rather read another sonic idw comic book then play some of the 2010 Sonic games like Lost World or Colors. The writing in those games are bad on another level. I rather read idw sonic then watch Sonic prime or the paramount Sonic movies. ( especially that Knuckles series, what the hell happened there?)

I firmly DO believe the hate he gets is overblown AND his haters can be quite unhinged. No, nobody deserves death threats and saying well " Ken Pontac got death threats too!" YES that's bad too, we shouldn't send death threats to writers at all dude!! telling someone they should die because of Sonic is anway, is a worse crime then being a bad Sonic writer, and if you don't agree you have some messed up priorities. The same Sonic fans who will defend Mike Pollock's extreme insensitive comments regarding palestine children deaths. Or Yuji Naka's history of taken credit for work he never did and verbally abusing his staff during the development of Balan wonderworld. Cant talk about that too much, but lets make a thousand tweets because Flynn was wrong about which game Sonic snored in.
