(Masterlist)
"It's too hot! I don't wanna wear it!" Ellery squirmed, rolling around on the floor because of her new winter coat.
"Ellie, it's too hot now, but when we leave to play outside it'll be perfect. It's cold outside, baby," Lydia picked up her daughter. "Look your brother also got a new coat, look how cute you two are!"
"It's so comfy!" Charlie exclaimed, waving his arms playfully. "I wanna go outsideee," he cried, running to the front door impatiently.
"We hafta wait for Ellery before we can go," Win said, holding the little girl's coat so Lydia could get her arms inside.
"C'mon, put it on and we can play," Nate got down on one knee and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "Don't y'wanna go?"
The little girl nodded and accepted her fate, putting an end to the theatrics that she enjoyed so much.
"She's such a daddy's girl," Lydia laughed.
"And dada's," Nate said with a smug grin.
"Don't forget it," Nats agreed, slipping on his own coat and pushing his stocking feet into his boots. "See I'm gettin' ready so I don't get cold too," he said, winking at Ellery.
"Okay!" Ellie happily put her boots on and let Lyds cover her hands with the cutest pink gloves. "I can do it too."
"Awesome!" Nate high-fived her before putting her beanie on. "Now both of you look beautiful and cozy."
"Okay, now we can go outside," Win exclaimed, opening the door and letting the two run out into the pristine winter wonderland that was their large front yard. Charlie let out a delighted shriek and ran down the stairs.
"Wait for me!" Ellery followed, tackling her brother when they reached the fluffy snow.
"Hey!" The little boy wailed, grabbing a tiny fistful of snow to throw at his sister's face.
She laughed, throwing more snow at him. "I can do this all day! We're in a war now!"
"Not fair! I just wanna make a snowman!" Charlie cried, getting to his feet and running away to hide behind one of the large evergreen trees.
"Don't cry! I can help yeh," she offered, running after him. "We can pause the war, I won't do anything bad. I promise!"
"Okay!" Charlie exclaimed, brightening instantly. "C'mon, let's start the bottom of the snowman," he instructed, dropping to his knees to start gathering snow into a small ball for them to begin rolling.
"Aww look at them," Lydia cooed, squeezing her wife's hand. "They were babies yesterday, what the fuck happened?"
"They grow way too fast," Win agreed, leaning her head against Lyddie's shoulder. "I know people always say that about kids, but now I know what they mean."
"We're cliche moms now," Lydia sighed, discreetly forming a snowball in her hands before throwing it at Nats. "Guess we're just too old to go messing around."
"Too old, eh?" He exclaimed, returning the favour and throwing a snowball at her, laughing giddily as it hit her in the chest. Win jumped back with a gasp.
"Yeah! We're nearing fifty, old man," Lyddie laughed, dusting her coat. "Just you wait, you won't see the next one coming."
"Can you believe that? So childish..." Nate shook his head, smashing a handful of snow on Win's face.
"NATHAN MICHAEL YOUNG!" She yelped, spitting snow out of her mouth before running after her husband to tackle him in a snowbank.
Nate let out a high-pitched scream, laughing breathlessly as she got her revenge on him. He did deserve it, but it was all worth it. "You shoulda seen your face!"
"You're such an arse!" Win huffed, pinning him under her.
"I know, but y'love me," he lurched forward to steal a kiss. "Sorry, it was just too funny."
"I don't think you'll ever be too old t'mess around," Nats teased, pulling Lydia close by the scarf at her neck to steal a cold kiss, her lips warm on his.
"Hmmm you make a very compelling argument," she wrapped her arms around his neck, watching the kids discreetly to make sure they were okay before turning her attention to her husband.
"Which is good for our kids... and for me," he joked, letting his gloved hands slip down to give her arse a quick squeeze.
"Don't make me horny right now..." she whined quietly. "I can't be held responsible for my actions, menopause is skyrocketing my sex drive."
"Oh, so you're sayin' I should keep my hands to myself, huh?" Nats teased, pulling his hands away.
"Nooo! Please, go ahead, I'm all yours," Lydia brought his hands back, kissing him eagerly. "I love you so much."
"I love yeh too, mummy," he grinned, kissing her again, making sure they weren't being watched too closely, though it wasn't exactly a scene that the kids were unused to.
"Fuck, you're so hot," she groaned, noticing everyone seemed entertained with something else. Running away for a quicky was tempting... "Dinner in bed tonight?"
"You know it, baby," Nats exclaimed. "Somethin' messy."
"And lots of beer," Lydia whispered as she kissed his neck. "Just gotta make sure to soundproof the room."
"I wonder if we could make a castle, like we do with sand," Ellie mused, pushing the ball around to make it bigger. "Our snowman can be a king or a queen..."
"Yeah! We need somethin' to make bricks out of snow," Charlie mused. "Maybe dada can help make us one," he suggested, always excited to see his father's magic in action.
"Dada!" Ellery called. "Dada, can y'make us beach toys? We wanna make snow castles!"
"Duty calls," Nate rolled over, crawling closer to his kids. "How big is this castle gonna be?"
"Funny..." Win grumbled, letting him go to help the kids.
"We wanna fit our snowman inside it!" Charlie exclaimed, jumping up and down excitedly.
"Jesus! Y'must think dada is Elsa or somethin'," Nate teased, swirling glittery snowflakes between his fingers. "Guess we can make somethin' like that. What d'you think, mama?"
"D'yeh need some help, dada?" Win asked, drawing on his magic.
"Please, let's build a nice castle for your majesty, Snowy McSnowmen," he laughed.
"This is so cool!" Ellery shook her brother lightly. She loved to watch them and how everything just appeared from nothing.
Win nodded, and together they each pulled a plastic block maker from behind their backs and handed them to each child. "There y'go. You want any help building your castle?" She asked.
"Yes please!" Ellery shouted, already packing snow into the block. "Mummy! Daddy! Come help with our castle!"
"Sounds like we're needed," Nats laughed, hearing their children calling and pulling Lydia along.
"Daddy, our snowman is a king, or a queen, we don't know it yet," Ellie explained. "We're makin' a castle."
"Why not a king and a queen?" Nate suggested. "Let's make a couple."
"That's a great idea!" Win agreed. "With all of us together we should be able to make two snowmen easily."
"You gotta do it like this mama," Charlie said, showing her how to take the block out.
"Like this?" Winnie asked, emulating what he'd shown her, placing her block next to his.
"Yeah! Like that!"
"Show me how to do it too, Charlie," Lydia sat down next to him. He was just so sweet. Not dramatic like her, not bloody-minded like Win, not rowdy like the boys. Just incredibly sweet and nobody knew where he got it from.
"Like this," he exclaimed, showing his mama as well, his little cheeks pink in the chill air.
"You are so cute, oh my God, one day you'll be a man and tell me you hate me," Lydia took Charlie in her arms, kissing his chubby cheeks several times. "But it doesn't matter because I still love you and your sister no matter what," she murmured, making the blocks following his instructions.
"I'll never hate you, mummy," he assured with a giggle.
"Tomorrow Simone and Darren should come to see our kingdom of snow," Ellery suggested.
"I think your cousins will love it," Nate nodded. "We'll call 'em."
"Looks like we almost got a whole wall built!" Nats exclaimed, dusting the snow from his gloves. "Ellery, do you wanna help me work on the snow queen?"
"Yes! Let's make it look like me, cause I'm a queen too!" She grinned, gathering the snow to make a ball. "This is better than the war I wanted to have earlier."
"Yeah, I told you!" Charlie exclaimed, looking up from his task.
"I'm sorry for tryin' to attack you," Ellie muttered. She didn't quite understand her strength yet, but she was nearly a foot taller than her brother.
"I forgive you!" He embraced his sister, unable to hold a grudge.
"That's good, y'only ever attack someone if y'know they want you to," Nate stroked her hair.
Soon they had two snowmen in the works, laughing as they rolled.
"Daddy, Dada, will y'help us put them together?" Charlie asked. "Oh yeah, gettin' the snow boulders on top of each other is th'hardest part," Nats said, bending to wrap his arms around the second largest snowball at his feet.
"Work smarter, not harder..." Nate waved his hand stacking his part perfectly in only a few seconds. "Your daddy likes t'show off to your moms."
"It works," Lydia watched Nats with a smile, fixing the kids' scarves to keep them warm. "I love to watch daddy work."
"See," Nats exclaimed, flexing his muscles, even though they weren't visible through his coat, making Charlie giggle at his antics.
"It's perfect! Daddy is super strong and dada is super smart!" Ellie grinned.
"Smart? I guess for a five-year-old he does look smart," Lydia taunted.
"They are smart and handsome and perfect!" Her daughter insisted fervently.
"Agreed," Win said, kissing the top of Ellie's head.
"That's right, Daddy's super strong," Nats exclaimed, putting the snowman's head on. "Now we gotta dress 'em up, ey?"
"Yeah! We need crowns for 'em!" Charlie cheered.
"I'll get sticks for their arms," Ellery ran. "And pebbles for their eyes!"
"She is right by the way, I just can't have you being all cocky..." Lydia whispered, feeling up Nats' arms. "You two are already so smug."
"Thought y'liked it when we're smug," he murmured, bobbing his eyebrows at her.
"I can't tell you I like it or you'll be unbearably cocky," she laughed, hugging him tighter. "To be fair, you're not the brightest to the average human."
"Hey now! You've hurt my feelin's babe," Nats gasped, feigning offense.
"I think I can make it better," Lyddie pulled him closer, pressing her lips to his. "I know how to patch your hurt feelings."
"We're settin' her standards high. Ellie won't bring some random twat home when she's older," Nate nodded, very proud of himself.
"Oh, is that what you're doin', huh?" Win laughed while Charlie ran after his sister to help gather what they needed.
"Hell yeah! Ideally, she'd never date, she'd live with us and Charlie forever and we'd protect them from everything," Nate cleared his throat. "But since I can't stop her, better she dates a nice person."
"Oh babe," she cooed, placing her hands on his cheeks. "You're so sweet."
"I guess I am..." he murmured, lifting both kids up when they ran back. "Oh look at that, our snow couple is gonna look great!"
"The crowns are perfect!" Charlie exclaimed, sticking his pebbles into the face of his snow king. "Thank you dada! Thank you daddy, mama, and mummy!"
"This is real gold and ruby, but don't tell anyone," Nate whispered as the kids finished the decoration.
"We loved to help, baby, we love playing with you," Lydia sighed. "Your cousins are gonna love it and we can all bake cookies tomorrow, let's invite everyone."
"Gran and grandpa too?" Ellie clapped.
"Of course, it's almost Christmas, let's start reuniting the family early."
"Mummy, I'm starting to get c-cold," Charlie said, wiping at his nose.
"Guess it's time t'get inside and warm up, huh big man?" Nats said, lifting his son easily.
"Come on you too, tough lady, I bet you're cold as well," Lydia took Ellery, who quickly hid against her chest. "Are you okay, Charlie? Do you need mummy's magic medicine?"
"I just want some hot cocoa and my blankie," he said as Nats carried him back to the house.
"My little cutie! Why did I ever stop breastfeeding so soon? I wanna hold you both so close," it was safe to say Lydia was an exceptionally doting mum. "I'll make you both some cocoa with lots of marshmallows. You guys, get the blankies and pajamas! Get a movie for them to watch too."
"Yes, captain!" Nate took Ellery from her as they walked back inside.

I’d like to think that, after their chicken nugget feast, they started hanging out more often.
Listen, I thought they were cute together. Even if they didn’t end up together, their friendship was my favorite. They’re so underrated.

If I had a nickel for every time Robert Sheehan played an immortal character that gets buried alive in a casket I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice right?

you know what’s funny?
if the mortal instruments movies had continued for five more sequels— and were faithful to the books— eventually, we would have gotten not only vampire simon, but mark of cain!vampire simon.
meaning that robert sheehan would’ve ended up playing not one, not two, but THREE characters that were immortal and the source of comic relief

A Lot To Talk About | Misfits AU
Pairing: Nathan x Lydia (OC - Hard Candy’ verse)
Word Count: 1,1 k
Warning: Strong language
(Masterlist)
I knew someday I would slip up, I didn't think it would be so soon, but I knew. I'm too clumsy not to mess things up even a little bit. So I accidentally wore a corset with my hair up to a concert, leaving my shoulders bare. When I realized it, I immediately let my hair down, but that was about halfway into the performance.
All I could do was pray that no one saw the birthmark, but I wouldn't be telling you this story if no one actually saw it… Some people did see it and there was a little bit of gossip over it, but soon enough, everyone had forgotten about it, or so I thought.
"Are you sure you're okay with being a bridesmaid? It might call too much attention…" Simon whispered as Nathan and I left his flat after a little double-date dinner to plan his wedding.
"I'm literally on the cover of Esquire right now, I think we're a little past calling attention to myself," I joked.
"I know, but mum and dad will be there, and our grandparents, and little Lydia…"
"Do you not want me as Alisha's bridesmaid?" I frowned.
"Of course I want you to, Peanut! You're my sister, how could I not want you there? I'm just worried about your… Situation."
"Um, guys?" Nathan poked my shoulder, his voice trembling slightly.
"One second, Natty, this is important," I said without turning away from Simon. "No, really! THIS is important!"
When Simon and I turned around, our father was standing there, agape, pale as chalk, looking like he just saw a bloody ghost.
"Shit…" I muttered.
"D'you think he heard it?" Nathan whispered.
"I am literally 10 feet away, of course I heard it," dad finally spoke up.
"Hi, Charles," I smiled sheepishly at him, my brain trying to pretend nothing happened. "You remember me, right? We met once at the grocery shop-"
"I think we've met a little before that, didn't we?" He chuckled.
Simon was paralyzed with fear, I know he was internally beating himself up for exposing me like that, but to be honest, it was a lot less scary than I imagined it would be.
"Dad, Lyddie is my friend you know… She's like a sister to me… And Alisha too…" Si stuttered nervously.
"I knew that birthmark looked familiar," dad walked towards me, slightly teary. "And those eyes as well. What happened to you, Blossom?"
"Well, it's a long story," I grimaced. "Do you remember that storm a couple of years back?"
——————————————————
"So, my kids are superheroes, and my kids' spouses are also superheroes… And half of this town are superheroes."
"Or supervillains," Simon added. "We've met some people who were really dangerous and used their powers for evil."
"So you're saying, you are my Blossom in ten years?" Dad stared blankly, in shock from all the information we just dumped on him.
"Yes, but I go by Lydia or Lyddie now, I still hate that name."
I had seen him a couple of times from afar, but we were never able to really talk. It pained me so much to stay away from him, to never call him dad again.
"Lydia," he smiled, tears running down his face. "I am so proud of you, you are so brave and so talented. You're everything your mother and I raised you to be."
"Thank you, dad," I sobbed, unable to hold back any longer, and he held me, gently kissing my forehead. "I missed you so much."
"How long has it been?"
"About two and a half years."
"Oh, sweetie! It's alright, it's okay," he rubbed my back soothingly.
"Don't tell mum, she's gonna freak out."
"But Lydia…"
"Please, dad, please don't tell her. You know how she can get."
"Fine, I won't, but I think she would like to meet you, I couldn't imagine a better future for you."
"That's because you don't know Nathan," Simon muttered mockingly.
"What? What are you talkin' about?" Nate scoffed dramatically. "I am a perfect gentleman, sir, nothing t'worry about."
"I can see it in your face, kid…" dad looked him up and down. "That isn't true, but if my daughter loves you and chose to marry you, she must have a good reason."
"Aw, thanks, dad!" Nathan tilted his head
"Don't push it, Nats," I warned playfully.
"What is your power?" Dad asked, narrowing his eyes.
"I'm immortal and I can also do reality warping, it's kinda like bein' a magician, but without the tricks."
"Interesting… would you mind showing me?"
"No, not at all," Nathan smiled, happy to show off his powers any chance he got. "Lyddie mentioned a few times you're a fan of Guinness, right?"
"Right."
"Then cheers, man," he snapped his fingers and a can appeared in the palm of his other hand.
"Wow!" Dad took the can with an amazed smile. "I like this one, Lydia."
"Don't get ahead of yourself," Simon teased. "He's usually a completely different person."
"Just get over it, Barry," Nathan leaned back smugly. "My father-in-law likes me."
"Barry?" Dad looked at me confused and I simply shrugged.
"No, my father doesn't know you well enough," he countered with a smirk. "Should I tell him about that volunteer we had… What was her name, Lyddie? The blonde one that was a bit older."
"You mean Ruth?" I smiled, taking the opportunity to push my husband's buttons.
"Ruth! That's right, dad you're not gonna believe it-"
"NO!" Nathan shouted. "If you tell 'im that, I'm gonna tell 'im about the shapeshifter, should we go there?"
"Then I'll tell him about that time you got that tattoo."
"And I'll tell 'im about the very interesting things you had t'say when Alisha  touched you with her old power."
"So I'll tell him about what you did to Nikki's mattress."
"Stop that!" I laughed. "We have more than enough incriminating stories about each other, our father doesn't need to know any of them!"
"But… now I'm curious, I wanna know all of them," dad grinned, making me regret not telling him sooner. He was acting so cool about the whole thing, I was so happy to have him back.
"Convenient for you to say that, Lollipop," my husband taunted. "You wouldn't want me t'mention the bet with the pills, right?"
"Or what you used to do with Nathan in the Community Centre…" Simon joined.
"Okay, seems like we have a lot to talk about," dad cracked open his beer. "Let's start from the beginning, how did you and my daughter meet, Nathan?"
"That's a cool story," he started. "So, I was playin' bowling one night, right?"
