wHOOPS- Min got a bit carried away with this but I hope you enjoy non! owo and thank you for sending this in!!
Time of event note : Sometime after Hallow ended because at that point, Tyki hasn’t returned to his travelling family even once. s/o got a new job as a server for events when they moved places and still lives with the others just because.
Another day, another party.
Tyki snuffed out the cigarette in his hands, throwing the cancer stick over the balcony as he stuffed his hands inside his pants’ pocket, walking back into the suffocating atmosphere of the party. His eyes lazily roamed the crowd of nobles – men and women all dressed in various colours and various styles of clothing, the jewels and ornaments hanging from their person sparkling brilliantly under the fluorescent lights.
A vain attempt to impress someone really.
He smiles as he passes a group of women, all looking to be around his age; they swooned, some waving their hands at him, some fanning themselves and others trying to get his attention. He politely told them he had somewhere to be, reaching out with one of his hands to brush back a stray lock on one of the women. He smiled, letting his hand part from their skin before he turned away- just barely catching the excited chatter behind him as the gals crowded the poor girl.
His family was known for their status- for their parties and their ties. It wasn’t a wonder that everyone who wanted to be someone wanted to get under their skin and become a part of their family. It was a luxury, or so he had heard one of the mothers gossiped.
He smiles as he spots a familiar face in the crowd; the face of his future beloved. Someone that his older brother, Sheryl, had set him up with. The mother, as excited as she was, wanted her child to be happy so she proposed to the politician that the two should get to know each other first before they set anything in stone.
And that was what Tyki and the noblewoman had done.
They met at every single one of these parties, met outside of these parties, and had even spent the night at each other’s places. To the noblewoman, it was a serious relationship that would one day lead to marriage. To Tyki, it was nothing but good fun.
He wasn’t looking to settle down, oh no, but if he had to do it for his family’s ties then he’d rather have fun with it first.
He called for her, the blonde woman giving him a bright smile when she saw him headed her way. She parted from the banquet table, having been looking at the selection of delicacies set out for the night, and made her way to the love of her life. She was greeted with a kiss to the back of her hand, cheeks blossoming in colour as she was not used to the affectionate ways of the man yet.
“Tyki dearest, I was just about to look for you,” she beamed, ecstasy swimming in her eyes as she looked up to the taller man. Tyki grinned at the nickname, amused at how easy it was for this woman to fall for his charms.
“You seemed rather bored so I wanted to ask you for a dance,” he smiled as she nodded, brilliant blue eyes shining with mirth as she took his outstretched hand. He immediately pulled her close, wrapping an arm around her waist and pressing her figure to his body.
The noble gasped, surprise etched into her features as she looked up at him. The dark-haired man couldn’t help but laugh at her expression, pressing a kiss to her forehead and teasing her about how easy it was to evoke a reaction out of her, causing her lips to form into a pout.
“That wasn’t very kind of you, mister,” she sulked, ducking her head to avoid his gaze. Tyki gazed at the noble gently- no, not at the noble. In his mind’s eye, he was remembering someone else; someone he used to share intimate moments with- all the laughter and the teasing and the silly slow dancing in the middle of the room.
Just as his thoughts started to wonder, he was interrupted by a sudden, loud noise of metal clattering against the tiled floor and of precious china breaking as they hit the ground. The girl in his arms gasped at the intrusive noise, spinning around quickly to see what the cause of the interruption was.
He lifted his head lazily, eyes dragging to where he had heard the noise come from to assess the situation. He was still, afterall, one of the hosts for the night.
His eyes widened when he saw familiar (e/c) eyes staring at him in shock, their hands starting to shake as they realized he was now staring at them. Their muscles seemed to tightened and Tyki could tell they were itching to run- but for some reason, they couldn’t.
They couldn’t move.
The floor manager hurried up to them and grabbed their shoulder, effectively stunning them out of their shock. They ripped their eyes away from a bewildered Tyki – why was he here?? – and they were keen to avoid his eyes, keeping their head turned away as they whispered to their higher-up.
“I’m sorry sir, I really don’t feel well,” they mumbled and, in the deathly quiet room following the noise, they were sure that every single one of the nobles had heard them. Including him. It was starting to become harder and harder for them to control their breathing, the heavy feeling of lead stuck inside their chest making them painfully uncomfortable.
“You look like you’re about to pass out. Go ahead and rest. I’ll get someone to clean this up,” _____ mumbled a small thank you, exhaling a shaky breath when they heard a female voice calling for him. Shaking their head, the (h/c) quickly turned on their heels and headed for the direction of the staff-room- keeping their head down low in hopes of escaping his gaze.
Their fingers clenched tightly against the pendant hanging from their neck, nails digging into the skin of their palm as they hurriedly pushed past bewildered co-workers and irritated chefs. They would have to apologize to them later but for now, they needed to get out of there.
When they passed through the double doors of the hallway leading to the staff room, _______’s legs felt incredibly tired – a numbness flowing through them as their quick pace slowed to a stop. They leaned against the wall of the hallway, throat constricting as tears started to flow freely from their eyes.
Desperately, desperately, they tried to stop the crystalline droplets but when it turned out to be in vain - when the shaking of their shoulders and the pain in their chest became too much - _______ covered their mouth with one of their hands; eyes clenching painfully shut as they prayed that no one would see them this way.
But of course God was mocking them today.
Faintly, they heard rapid footsteps approaching them, terrifying them out of their skin as they scrambled to hide from whoever it was that was headed their way. Just as they struggled to move- to run- a hand grabbed onto their wrist and pulled, effectively stopping them from moving.
“What are you doing here?” The voice was that of a bewildered man, but it was a voice that ______ would recognize from miles away. Shaking their head, they mumbled for the person to “please let me go,” and that he had “the wrong person” – to which the hand on their wrist tightened.
“_______. What the hell are you doing here?” he asked again, voice a bit more forceful now. _____ clenched their hands, balling them into fists in an attempt to stop the visible shaking.
It pained them that they were this weak.
“You,” they spoke slowly, blinking the tears away before lifting their head, not noticing the liquid spilling onto their cheeks and dripping down their face. Tyki was shocked to say the least; in all the years he had been with them, never once had they cried.
“What are you doing here?” they asked him in return, eyes shining with mixed emotions. Their brows furrowed and their lips thinned and Tyki could feel their hand shaking from where he was holding it. He swallowed thickly, words stuck in the back of his throat as they stood there – not saying anything when they used to speak in hushed whispers and stupid laughs.
“I…” He started and then immediately regretted saying anything; what was he supposed to say? That he was actually a nobleman posing as a homeless person just because he thought it would be fun? He shook his head, blinking away the images of his second family that burned at the back of his mind.
“I’m with family,” ______ scoffed, bringing a hand up to their face to aggressively wipe away at their cheeks- wiping any remnants of tears that had already tracked down their face and fell onto the floor.
“And what about us? What about me, huh?” Tyki breathed deeply when their (e/c) eyes glared at him sharply – only to soften moments after, tell-tale signs of deep sadness showing on their features. ______ tilted their head towards the ground, staring at their shoes and momentarily realizing that they were at work.
They needed to end this whole fiasco.
“We waited for you, Tyki,” the (h/c) whispered, barely loud enough for the noble to hear.
“We waited for you- Eeez waited for you,” _____ choked on the emotions they had repressed so long ago, feeling their wrist burn from where their skin made contact with the dark-haired man. They tugged their arm back forcefully, taking a step back as they pulled on the pendant hanging from their neck. The old thing snapped, Tyki’s eyes following the movement in shock and confusion.
“We thought you were dead, you ass!” _____ yelled, their voice bouncing in the empty hallway. In that moment, the thought as to why no one was walking around here when the event was well underway didn’t cross their mind. Instead, their thoughts was clouded with rage and sadness and confusion and hurt all at the same time.
How could he have left them like that?
Did they mean nothing to him? Did the people he call family mean nothing? To him?
And to do what he did with that noblewoman-
God.
They used to do that. Tyki used to do that with them.
And it was all…. A play?
“______. Let me expla-“
“No!” ______ yelled, biting harshly on their lips as they glared at him.
“Up until this morning, I thought you were goddamn dead and now I find you here, in the arms of another woman. Did I not mean anything to you, Tyki?” There was so much venom and poison in the way they pronounced his name that Tyki felt his heart clench, dark eyes trained on their own. He could practically feel the hurt radiating from their person and he didn’t know whether or not he should stay silent or answer the question.
Just as his lips parted to say something, ______ shook their head- looking downwards towards the pendant in their hand. They closed their eyes, heaving a sigh before they lifted their head again, staring at him with unshed tears.
“Goodbye Tyki. Please be well,” Tyki could feel his heart drop as _____ threw the pendant at him – the item dropping to the floor with a clatter- and turned to leave before he could have a chance to stop them again. The noble was shaking – he realized – as he watched his former lover walk away.
When they were gone from his sight, he picked up the pendant by his feet, thumbing the intricate designs carved into the metal surface. Even after his disappearance, they had kept the pendant with them.
His eyes started to burn as tears accumulated in the corners of his eyes. Biting the inside of his cheek, Tyki shook his head and turned on his heel.
In the back of his mind, he knew-
He knew that he had messed up.
