he became a patient at smith’s grove in 1963 -- meaning his exposure to any genre that wasn’t popular on mid-west suburban american radio was pretty much non-existent. probably hard-wired into liking lullabies that were sang by his mother and judith. also mostly late 1950s girl bands bc of judith (the crystals, the ronettes.... nancy sinatra, lesley gore etc.) beyond that??? he dont kno shit

ok maybe one or two v early disney soundtracks the myers have from when judith was a kid (snow white, sleeping beauty)

escapes in 1978 for like ONE night, after the beatles, after  disco.. after prog-rock....  after zenith of punk, into post-punk....... its a loss he deserves lmfao

michael is v attuned to conventional, Romantic melodies. i’ve spoken before about how he’s particularly responsive to higher pitched, feminine tone. both of these aspects converging is bound to get his interest
