Private Party | Jinki x Joongki
For one last time he checked his reflection in the mirror. He straightened the little, black bowtie, brushed some dust freckles off his black jacket and tried to smooth out that one curl in his hair that always refused to stay down like the others. He cleaned his glasses for a third time in 10 minutes, just because he needed to keep his hands busy.
He was nervous, even more nervous than he was at a regular business diner. His heart was pounding against his chest like a hummingbird, his breathing was a little ragged and his hands were sweaty, but he had no idea why.
He checked his phone to see the time: Six ten. He went downstairs, knowing that his boss would soon arrive. They had agreed to meet at six fifteen and the man was never late. And he would not appreciate it if Jinki would not be waiting at the front door.
It was a short and silent drive to the museum as the older man was constantly texting and making phone calls. The only words they had shared were a simple “hallo” and “thank you for picking me up”.
After their ways split at the front door of the museum, Jinki drifted off on his own in search of some familiar faces in the ocean of black suits and dark evening gowns. As he made his way through the gathering crowd, he passed several people he had met before, such as officials he had come across at the DA office, policemen he had worked together with on some cases and even close friends like Yoohyeon and Hyoyeon. He greeted them all with a kind smile, but his eyes were looking for one man in particular.
His heart skipped a beat when he finally found the person he had been looking for. Their eyes locked across the crowded room and his smile is answered with a soft smile that could melt even the coldest heart on earth.
“Hyung…” His voice sounded like he had just returned from a marathon in the Sahara desert or had been screaming for hours. He cleared his throat, coughed softly before continuing. “It is nice to see you again.”

Mile High Club
@mijaehyung
As far as Saturday nights go, tonight was set to be relatively unremarkable, with him scoffing down dinner after a nice, long scented bubble bath before cosying up by the television and falling asleep to late night dramas. It’s rather mundane, but that’s fine. Outside of his unpredictable escapades, Doyoung was ironically, a man of routine – a trait carried over from his athlete days.
Routine.
That was what tonight was supposed to be, until he receives a text from Jaehyung around seven suggesting a night of alcohol fuelled comp runs on Overwatch at his place.
His penchant for trolling players in all his assholerly aside, it was a granted that he agreed. Hell, if he hadn’t wanted to disguise how obviously keen he was to drop by Jae’s place, he would’ve accepted that invitation in a heartbeat. But because he does want to disguise how ( disgustingly ) eager he was, he leaves the guy’s text hanging for at least 10 minutes before replying in the most unenthusiastic way he possibly could via text.
Basically – ‘K. Whatever. Be there in 30 mins. Maybe.’
No emojis or emoticons either.
After showering ( again, for no particular reason ) and throwing on some decently nice clothes of relative comfort – jeans and an oversized dress shirt – he packs up his gaming rig and heads off.
And of course, he makes sure to leave 5 minutes after the stipulated, ‘be there in 30 mins’, because turning up early would be just plain weird. The term, fashionably late, existed for a reason.
It doesn’t take long for Doyoung to arrive at his destination.
Knocking on the door, he waits patiently until it swings open before carelessly shoving a plastic bag into the arms of his host.
“Brought chicken. Also, you better have enough soju and beer to go around or this arrangement is off. At least if I’m tipsy I won’t get tilted by your Widow plays,” he mutter, stepping into the apartment and dropping his backpack down in the living room.
A gaming laptop and its rigging was HEAVY, and he couldn’t be more relieved to finally lift the burden from his shoulders.

Blow out the light (solo)
June 25th, 2017 — after disaster strikes
Even without partaking in the costume event, Seulgi had still found a softness towards the entire scenario—even as a supposedly treasured assassin of Black Lotus, even she was fooled for a few, peaceful moments that this place would be safe. That the children here would have no harm done upon them.
But they all would be terribly wrong.
The scream resonating from the back sends a sharp, alarming chill down her spine as she whirls around in her place more towards the middle of the crowd as the general human response of fight or flight is occurring all around her and within the confines of her own being. But there’s no way in hell to fight a fire, or to catch whatever disgusting asshole started it behind the flames that were only growing farther and wider. Panic is spreading as fast as the flames, and while she is one to fight she has to opt on flight as the rest of the upper parts of the crowds are.
But there’s something that stops her in the beginning of a mid sprint
There’s screaming, screaming everywhere, shrieking and cries of terror but there’s one that she picks up on that seems louder above all (and perhaps it’s because she’s closer but damn it she needs to move).
A little girl with scraped knees is screaming for her mother on the ground and she realizes this is why she can’t make herself run any further because she can’t do it. She can’t leave this girl.
There’s too many people, but no one seems to realize the cries of other’s in their own chaotic run, Seulgi is almost knocked over by someone that’s running in the direction of safety as she’s running towards the smaller screaming. She’s terrified and she probably can’t move and who the fuck leaves their kid behind!
She’s pissed and terrified and she doesn’t care that a costume piece causes a normally graceful assassin to trip and give her hands and arms most of the blow when she hits the solid ground and she doesn’t care because she’s pushing herself up again, she can’t feel it anyway with panic rising and her heart racing in her chest—there’s too much going on and she almost wants to shut down herself.
No.
She closes the distance between her and the girl, she can feel heat at her skin and knows she can’t afford to jeopardize herself or the girl or to even think as she snatches her into aching arms despite the frantic protest of a little innocent soul that just wants her mother — because it’s either the girl dies and Seulgi lives with regret or they both go down in flame.
Neither.
She has the wriggling, panicking child in her arms and she’s using all the energy she can as she runs, focusing on her steps as she tries not to trip again, even if her legs protest because she’s overworked herself this week but she can’t and will not give in.
Seulgi doesn’t collapse until she knows she’s reached a safe place where the frantic people have gone to greet help with pleading eyes and voices. Her knees hit the ground but the girl stays in her arms, petrified chants for a mother turned incoherent as she sobs. Seulgi keeps her there secured in her own arms as she tries to find breath in her lungs to breathe, as she tries to remember what fresh air smells like over the aggravation of smoke, as she tries to comfort a little girl who quite possibly could have lost her mother.
It’s not until someone in uniform comes over to her that she draws herself back into a reality after chaos, the Seulgi that doesn’t want help for herself, the one that just wants the child curled in her arms to be helped because she’s bleeding and her breathing is off and the Seulgi that wants to kill whoever ruined this, whoever started this, whoever thought they were so mighty to harm innocent citizens and children. The same woman who doesn’t care if her own arms and palms are scraped and bruising, the one that refuses to give up the girl completely but rather they allow her to stay at her side until she’s treated, until they’ve found someone that can rightfully take her.
The one that, for once, hopes a criminal is caught and given whatever justice the SPD thought they deserved. But even then, in that moment she was desperately hoping whoever it was ended as her own victims did, dead.
#mi:charity#solo.#tw: arson#tw: injury#tw: thoughts of violence.#( a solo in which Seulgi is extremely angry but also when is she not )

up in flames.
Everything was nice and peaceful, and seeing all of the children around made Hyunjung's heart soar. There was no way that she could have missed this, just as she made sure that she didn't miss any of the other charity events for the world. If this is what she could do to help Seoul and see to it that it became a better place, so be it. She may not have much to give, but that wouldn't stop her from giving it all. Of course, maybe her thoughts all formed a little too soon. There was no way that she could have anticipated the horror that was in store. It was almost like flipping a switch, the way that everything went from calm to chaotic.
( tw: arson, death ) The screams that rang out were deafening and caused her stomach to feel as though it was twisted. Honestly, the desperation in their cries for help were enough to make anyone feel sick. Her face was pale and her knees were weak, and it pained her more than anything that she couldn't help everybody. She so intensely wished that she could head back into the fray of things to save as many lives as possible, but she also knew that she would never be able to help anyone else again if she died herself. She was torn, and she already knew that this exact day and moment would haunt her for the rest of her life. Who would do something like this? Why were there individuals so monstrous roaming the Earth?
She almost couldn't comprehend the amount of evil that would have to be within someone's heart in order for them to do something so cruel, fully knowing that they were dooming so many, even kids whose lives had barely just begun. It didn't take long for the tears to begin streaming down her face, plaguing her vision, and her legs were moving faster than she knew possible. The more distance she managed to make between her and the flames, the guiltier she felt. This was something she was going to have to live with for the rest of her life, how could she just run away? The thought caused her to turn back around, now running even quicker than even before.
She searched the area, feeling the beads of sweat trickling down her forehead and she gathered everyone that she could, helping to at least assist in guiding them away. She looked for anyone that might need help, people that have fallen or were unsure of where they could run, and she spent her time making sure that as many of them were safe as she could, until the very last moment in which she had no other choice but to flee with them.

— MINGYU RUNNING IN THE HALF MARATHON !
Regardless of his broken arm, he argues that this is something that he can do (and can do well, at that). Although he still isn’t sure whether or not he should do more, and he refused to make an appearance at the ‘Night at the Museum’ a week ago since he didn’t want to be the ‘idiot in a cast and a nice suit’, he figures that he can contribute in one of the main ways that he knows how.
It’s for the kids, right? Not that he’s ever cared about that before.

sharing is caring
@onewxmi
very carefully, youngjae counted out a couple thousand grand in cold cash out of his most recent payment, slipping it into a plain brown envelope. he then reached into his pocket, pulling out a small note he had written early, added that into the package as well before sealing it up again, flipping it over to scribble the intended recipient on the front in black biro. only once that was done did he the pen away in his pocket, holding the envelope of cash under his arm as he ducked out the alleyway he had been crouched in.
it was a nice day out, meaning he just found himself in a short sleeved shirt and some jeans, opting to leave his jumper at home. it was almost empty where he was heading, most people out and enjoying the festivities for the charity events going on around seoul. but youngaje had no interest in them, instead just heading right for the orphanage. it was one of his usual drops, he trusted them to use the money for the right thing, so once every month he dropped an envelope of cash through the door as a donation. he liked to think that his money was helping, allowing less kids to end up the same way he had.
keeping an eye out, youngjae tried to seem as inconspicuous as possible as he wondered up to the door, pulling the envelope from under his arm and posting it through the letterbox. then did he turn around again with every intention of leaving before anyone caught him. little did he realize that was exactly what had happened and he had just been seen.

Solo | In Memory
Jaebum has never liked the police. He had never really liked authority figures to any extent. But he remembers the day Chief of Police Lee Hyori died. He remembers the speech she gave moments before her body hit the ground. And he remembers the great wave of sadness he felt, that someone who had given her all to protecting the city had died.
Had it already been a year? There were notices all around the city about the different events taking place in honour of Chief Lee Hyori’s sacrifice to her city. So it’s in honour of her message that day, that he finds himself back ‘home’ for the first time in months. Entering, he heads straight towards his father’s study.
He knocks softly once, twice, before hearing a quiet “Come in,” that’s unmistakably his father’s. So he takes a deep breath before entering.
“This is a surprise,” his father smiles a little, the corners of his lips slightly and just slightly pulling upwards. At least it’s not the smile he gives his associates and business partners. “Dad, the anniversary for Lee Hyori’s passing is next week,” he starts off. There’s no way his father’s forgotten about the date. As a businessman, and as a senior executive of a large corporation, there’s no way he wouldn’t have taken note of all the various events around the city.
And alas, his father answers with a, “Yes, I’m aware.” Jaebum pauses a moment before bringing up what his goal was for the visit. He had to word it carefully. His father was one who didn’t change his mind easily, unless it was with his favourite princess. So he needed to make a good first argument. “I thought it would be a good idea for the business and us if we were to have the hotel donate an amount of money, and match the donations by the people at the Night of Museum. Things like this get out very easily even without an official announcement, so it would be good PR for the company, and it’s not like we can’t afford it.”
His father sits back in his chair, elbows on the armrests, an eyebrow raised in amusement. “Are you concerned about the well-being of the company?” A muscle moves in Jaebum’s jaw and he hopes this conversation won’t turn into one where his father tries to convince him to take over the position of an executive. “I just thought it might be something to think about, as the company is directly tied with the family name, and you’ve always said that the family name is something to be proud of. If we were to do this, the company would be benefited, and people would think positively of our family as well, no?” His father seemed to be on the fence, if only barely. “She dedicated her life to making this city safe, so children would be able to live and laugh in a home without fearing for their lives. I think that’s a vision that deserves to be recognized, if not for us, for the children.” Children was one of the very few things that could influence his father’s decisions, and it’s no doubt Yoohyeon the man’s thinking about. Of course it would be Yoohyeon, his beloved princess.
It wasn’t long after that his father had written a company cheque for 500 million won, and handed it to him along with a document that stated Im Hotel Corporation would match 100% of donations made at the Night of the Museum. When asked why he was receiving the cheque and the documents, his father only shrugged, “It was your idea. I’m entrusting you with the task of delivering these to the SPD.” Jaebum groaned inwardly; he didn’t entirely like the police department, though some police weren’t as bad as he had expected. He also hated the thought of flaunting his or his family’s money.
And then there was the knockout punch, “Of course you’ll also be attending the Night at the Museum.” Jaebum’s gripped tightened a fraction around the paper he held in his right hand. Of course his father wouldn’t let him off for any sort of formal occasion, anything that would help the family name and the business.
But this was an event he wouldn’t complain about attending. It was for a good cause anyways.

✕; I see fire
Memento mori; remember you must die
A candle lit vigil.
It is beautiful. It is haunting. It calls to mind the frailty of humanity and just how easy it is to be alive one day and dead the next.
Moonsik was present—of course, he was a member of the SPD—and for a brief moment something within stirred with an emotion that he couldn’t place. Was it pride? Sentimentality? Indigestion? He didn’t know and didnt’t care enough to reflect on it. The crowd was large, large enough to make him vaguely uneasy. It would be so easy for someone who wanted him dead to hide in the mass of bodies and end his existence. The thought caused a wry smirk to appear momentarily before giving way to an expressionless mask once more: he really had no intention of stealing the thunder at this memorial. That would be rather rude.
The piercing screams turn his insides to ice. He can see how the throng of people freeze, uncertainty and fear spreading like a near palpable wave through them. What the fuck was happening? Moonsik smelt the fire before he saw it, the smell of acrid smoke billowing as the wind fed the flames that leapt with vigour, devouring everything they touched.
Then everything became wreathed in a sea of flame.
Horrific was the word that sprang to mind immediately. A wall of hungry fire with reaching fingers, a tidal wave of panicked citizens running for safety, and powerless members of the police force. What was only supposed to commemorate one death had suddenly become a final resting place for many others in the most painful way possible. Moonsik knew what flames could do to a body, he’d seen people burned alive before—their screams sometimes echoing in his dreams—but never like this.
The cries of burn victims were mingled with those of desperate parents and separated children unable to find one another in the churning chaos that engulfed them all. It was all heart wrenching.
Despite all of this Moonsik could only stand there, stock still, and watch the event unfold as if it were being played in slow motion. Whether it was due to the shock or just the sheer scale of this incident, he couldn’t move his body for the first few minutes, the only part of him that was moving were his dark brown eyes taking in the hysterical mass before him.
What galvanised him from bystander to rescuer was a small girl, no older than six, covered in soot and scrapes tugging at his hand with tears and snot running down her face. Wordlessly he scooped her up into his arms whispering reassuringly as he carried her away to where the paramedics had set up camp a safe distance away. But she wouldn’t let him go as she continued to cry for her mother and father so he held her close making sure to shield her from the horror they’d left.
But he knew this would haunt her for years to come.
And it pained him.

Joining forces | Jongup x Jinki
This week was filled with exciting adventures and unique events. The next couple of days were going to be very different from the daily routine of boring paperwork and incessant meetings. He had taken a couple of days off at work and to his own surprise was granted them. For once, his superiors showed understanding and appreciation for his involvement with the future of the city.
With his bag thrown over his shoulders, Jinki made his way to the garage where one of the biggest events he was organizing himself would take place in a couple of days. He had contacted several local organisations and shops to join forces in the fundraising events, but without much success. Most organisations were already involved in the large-scale events such as the yard sale or had already some agreements with another charity project. Luckily, the good-hearted owner of Lunar Mechanics had come up with the fantastic idea of a car-wash at his place.
“Jongup-ah, where are you?” Jinki called when he opened the front door of the car shop.
The garage was a total maze to the lawyer assistant, even after the several visits he had paid in the past couple of weeks. The metal thud in the back of the shop betrayed the younger’s location. Jinki found him underneath a dark car, working on whatever car parts were located at the underside of a vehicle.
“Hi Jongup-ah,” he said with a large grin on his lips. “I brought something you need to see.”

— HYUNJUNG AT THE NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM !
Though it isn’t exactly her scene, she felt that it was her duty to at least make an appearance. A nice dress and hair not pulled back into her typical ponytail or low bun is something she isn’t used to (and likely no one else is, either), but she wants to give what she can, where she can. Besides, what’s the worst that could happen, right? It’s only one night, and it’s a really empowering thing to feel like a drop dead gorgeous, woodland forest badass every once in a while. She’s got this under control.

it's rare for her to dress up this much, but blue has always been a good color on her. the silver of her accessories matches the silver of her blades, and maybe it is a bit excessive to hide them on her person at a charity event, but hey. diana likes to be prepared for whatever the night may throw at her...☾ ☾
