“Please, Steve, I’ll give you a week's pay.” You lean across his desk, genuine desperation in your voice after an hour of begging.
“Not gonna happen.” He doesn’t even bother looking up from his computer.
“A month.” Your voice is starting to pitch up, something similar to anguish in your tone. Your offer finally gets a reaction out of him as his eyes widen, head tilting up.
“Jesus, you can’t be serious.” He’s examining your expression, trying to determine the sincerity of your claim.
“My entire Christmas bonus.”
“Okay, stop.” He sighs, giving you a sympathetic look. “We’re not allowed to switch.”
“When did you become such a stickler for the rules?” You cross your arms in front of your chest.
“It’s just a secret Santa. He’s our friend, whether you like it or not, you two are close and this shouldn’t be this big of a deal, now go, please, I need to finish up here so I can leave at a reasonable hour.” He loosens his tie as you sigh.
“It’s not just a secret Santa, Steve. It’s an opportunity for him to tell me that I once again didn’t do something right. No matter what I get him, it isn’t going to be good enough.” Even as you’re saying it you can see that he isn’t going to change his mind about this.
“He’s a dick to everybody. That’s inevitable, it just means he’s comfortable with you.” He’s already turning back to his work.
“Please, Steve.”
“No.”
You glare down at him, giving him your angriest look as his gaze tilts back up to meet yours.
When it’s clear that he isn’t going to switch you turn and leave, slamming his office door in the process.
“Don’t forget, I need you here early to help set up for the party!” His muffled voice seeps out into the hall as you walk away.
Once you’re out in your car and far away from prying eyes you unfold the damned slip of paper you’d drawn earlier today.
Javier P.
Of course, you got stuck with fucking Peña, a nickname you’d given him a few months ago. He absolutely hates it but the entire time you’ve worked for the DEA he’s gone out of his way to bother you. Sure, he’s your “friend”, in a strange, complicated way. But he still drives you up the wall with his constant need to one up you and the way he’s constantly making passes at women around the office.
And it’s not like you have any problems with him sleeping around, lord knows you’ve had a fair amount of one night stands, but he just has to hit on every woman you work with.
Every single woman, except you.
You’d never admit it of course but a part of you will always be self conscious about that fact. It doesn’t help that Javier absolutely adores bothering you at every possible moment. He loves nothing more than to pester, annoy, and mock you, spending nearly half his day leaning over your desk despite the million complaints you’ve sent Steve about his persistent partner.
He’ll sit on your desk, doing an endless amount of things to cause you distress. Like crowding you with his cigarette smell and vanilla cologne as he tells you you’re filling papers wrong, or telling you what colors to paint your nails, or solving your cases before you can even get to them, or teasing you about your shitty car. Today he wouldn’t stop bothering you about your weekend plans like he doesn’t already know exactly where you’ll be.
“Are you doing anything this weekend?” He’d asked with that devastating smirk and eyebrow raise combo.
“I have to go buy my secret Santa gift, just like everyone else.” You’d turned away, avoiding eye contact as he scoffed.
“What about Saturday?” He continued to pry, you wanted nothing more than to shove his perfect ass off your desk.
“The Christmas party, Javi. Just like everyone else.” You had sighed, squeezing the bridge of your nose as Emilia had walked past your desk. Javier immediately forgot your entire conversation as he turned to her.
“I love your nails.” He’d pushed his hair out of his face, holding his hand out to take hers, getting a closer look at the well manicured designs.
You had tuned out after that. Not wanting to be involved in the exchange as you went back to typing. Acutely aware of your own nails.
Red chipped paint.
You couldn’t help but wonder what it must be like to be the object of his affection.
It wouldn’t matter if he did hit on you, you would probably reject him anyway.
Probably.
It doesn’t matter, it’s never gonna happen so why let it bother you?
With a sigh you toss the paper into your cup holder, reaching to turn on the radio, maybe some Christmas music will make you feel better. Of course nothing happens as you turn up the volume knob but it makes you want to scream regardless.
Stupid fucking Peña.
Stupid broken radio, stupid shitty car.
“Fuck.” You mumble under your breath as you shift into drive.
Before you know it you’re back in your car in the DEA office parking lot, this time a few things are different though.
You’re dressed nicer, trading your slacks in for a skirt and your dress shirt for a sweater. And of course you now have a small wrapped box in your lap.
Since you had yesterday off for the holiday you spent your Friday at the mall, searching for a gift for Javier. Eventually you had settled on three little things; Nicotine gum, mostly because you’ll get more work done if he isn’t constantly dragging you outside for his smoke breaks. He complains too much about going alone and it’s always been easier not to argue, now he can stay at your desk with his gum. Beard oil, the fancy stuff he always insists on using in his mustache. You’d bought him the wrong kind last year for his birthday and you still haven’t heard the end of it. And a lighter, you had to beg the shop owner to make an exception and do a same day engraving of his birthday.
Jesus.
You know way too much about him.
You arrived two hours early as requested by Steve to help him set up. With the wrapped box tucked under your arm you anxiously tap the patterned wrapping paper with your freshly manicured nails.
“You should paint your nails green, I love green.” He had said through a drag of his cigarette.
Why did you let that idiot's opinions influence this decision? You feel foolish. The green chrome polish shimmering in the street lights in the parking lot as you step into the building. You had extra time while you were waiting for the engraving and you just couldn’t help yourself when the salon was just a few stores away. The image of Javier holding your hand and examining your painted nails while telling you how nice they looked was just too tempting. Maybe he’d even ask if you did it just for him, and you could drag him into a closet at the party, the exact situation you watched unfold last year. Except in that scenario you weren’t the lucky lady he’d run off with that night.
There’s no time to be thinking like that.
You shake off whatever filth you were imagining as you look around the hectic mess of garland and glitter.
Steve is already stressing, setting up tables as you set your gift under the tree before getting to work. The office is already mostly decorated but with his new position as supervisor Steve is insistent that everything be perfect his first Christmas in charge. So you plate food, and you mix drinks exactly as he wants them, and you hold the ladder steady when he insists on putting more lights up. When you’ve got about a half an hour before guests start arriving you’re finishing up and last minute touches, the two of you crowded around a drink tower.
The tension from your conversation yesterday seems to have fizzled out as you become engrossed in your work, when you’ve both finished he gives you an appreciative look.
“Thank you, seriously, it means a lot.” You help him adjust his tie as he straightens out his shirt.
“Anytime, although I’m surprised you didn’t just ask Javier.” You pat his shoulder as you finish, brushing a stray blonde hair out of his eyes.
He laughs, a nervous chuckle that makes you raise an eyebrow but when you open your mouth to comment on it he lets out a relieved sigh as the first of your coworkers arrive.
More people show up than you could have expected.
You stay near Steve for most of the beginning until he gets dragged away by one of the higher ups who had made an appearance, leaving you alone to sip your drink against the back wall. You hum along to a Christmas song that plays loud enough to drown out any conversation you might eavesdrop on to entertain yourself in his absence, your eyes scan the crowds as you try to match up the people you work with with their spouses.
You’re getting ready to find another group to talk to when you catch a glimpse of him standing against the opposite wall, talking to Bonnie, the woman who works in the cubicle next to yours.
Fucking Peña. Dressed in a stupidly tight green dress shirt.
You should leave them alone, especially if he’s trying to make a move on her. But you can’t help it as you make your way around the room towards them, a vague sense of jealousy settling in your stomach.
String lights twinkle across the ceiling of the office, creating a warm ambience throughout the space, just as you’re about to tap him on the shoulder you overhear their conversation.
“I had to beg Steve to switch with me, took an hour of convincing and a week's paycheck but it’ll be worth it to see the look on her face.” His back is to you as he leans in closer to Bonnie.
He’s probably talking about one of the other women from the office. Steve probably had someone Javier was trying to impress and that’s why Steve didn’t want to trade with you, he had already promised his pick to Javier.
Whatever, you can’t be too bothered about that. It does make you want to return to your spot on the other side of the room but you don’t get the chance to as the music is turned down rather suddenly.
One of the secretaries, Benjamin, stands on a chair, making an announcement that it’s time to do the secret Santa. You manage to twist through the crowds so Javier never sees you, finding his gift and bringing it to where he now stands, simultaneously keeping an eye out for your own gift.
You hand him the box, watching the way his face lights up.
“You picked me?” He grins as you nod, carefully peeling back the wrapping paper as you feel a tap on your shoulder. Benjamin waits behind you, leaning in to whisper while you watch Javier open his gift.
“It was short notice so we didn’t have time to get you a back up gift but your secret Santa told us at the last minute that he forgot to get you something, he promised to bring in something after New Years, I’m so sorry.” You feel a little disappointed as he murmurs but it isn’t that big of a deal, it’s a busy time of year and people can forget things.
“No worries, do you know who it was? I’d like to at least tell them it’s fine.” You turn away from Javier as he smiles at the nicotine gum, Benjamin's eyes flicker from your face to Javier’s before he gives you a sympathetic look, walking away.
Javier traded for your name?
As your head tilts to look at him now you can see the smirk he’s now sporting.
“ …but it’ll be worth it to see the look on her face.”
Javier had made a conscious effort to get your name just so he could not get you something.
Huh.
That doesn’t feel great. The look he gets to see on your face is betrayal and then just sadness. You don’t really care what the reason for his decision is, you turn and walk away from him regardless. If he tries to say something to you it’s drowned out by the music that starts once again.
Why are you so upset over some stupid joke? If it had been anyone else you wouldn’t have cared, you’d have brushed it off as a harmless accident but this wasn’t an accident.
Maybe he didn’t really think of you as a friend.
Maybe all of the teasing and one-upmanship really was from a place of animosity and you were just too blind and too infatuated to see it. You want to cry but you don’t want to give him the satisfaction so you sift through the bowl of keys, searching for the Star Wars keychain attached to your lanyard but you can’t find it. The combination of the blaring Christmas songs with the frustration you’re currently feeling only makes you more emotional.
You don’t want to go to the bathrooms where you might run into someone and you can’t go to Steve’s office because he might be talking to his supervisor, so you go to the only place you know there won’t be people.
Javier’s office.
You walk as quickly as you can, slipping inside as you slam the door shut behind you, clicking the lock in place before turning around, resting against the door as you feel tears spilling from your eyes. It isn’t until he clears his throat that your head snaps up.
Today is just not your day.
Did he know you’d come here? How the hell did he beat you here? He’s fidgeting with the lighter you bought him, watching it light and go out as he sits with your keys in his other hand.
Your face feels hot as you take in the sight of him.
“Give me my keys.” You hold your hand out, wiping your eyes with the other as you wait. Of course he doesn’t hand them over, that would be too easy and today is insisting on being difficult.
“I really liked your gift. Seriously, this is… outrageously thoughtful.” He murmurs, seemingly unaware of your mood until he takes a closer look at you, his expression shifting as he realizes your eyes are rimmed with red. “Why are you so upset? What happened?” He slides open a drawer, tossing your keys into his desk while you consider calling a cab.
What a foolish question.
How could he possibly not know?
“I want to leave, I’m sick of this party.” You turn to leave, maybe Steve can drive you home.
“Come on, the parties barely started.” He’s on his feet, he doesn’t try to corner you, if anything he sets himself against the wall.
“And I want to leave.” When you reach for the doorknob he grabs your wrist, holding it as he stares at you, a look of impatience crosses his face.
“Don’t tell me you’re mad about the secret Santa.” His brows furrow.
“This isn’t about a stupid secret Santa.”
“It sure seems like it is.” He’s still holding your wrist, why is he still holding your wrist?
This isn’t about the secret Santa. It’s a lot more than that, and after ages of keeping your thoughts to yourself in front of him you just let it out.
“This is about the fact that you don’t even care about me enough to make any sort of effort. I know you deliberately chose me, you specifically chose to do this to me and I don’t care that it’s just a stupid prank. It still- It’s still a shitty thing to do.” Your voice starts cracking half way through and you can feel your eyes welling up again but it doesn’t matter anymore, you were wrong, the two of you aren’t friends.
“So this is about the secret Santa.”
Of course he wouldn’t get it.
“You’re an idiot.” You finally pull your wrist from him.
You aren’t sure what else to do so you shove him, his back hitting the wall with a soft thud as you push past him to get to his desk, hoping to grab your keys but he catches your waist first.
“Can you stop being so stubborn for five seconds and just let me explain myself?” You can tell his patience is wearing thin, his voice is strained as he pulls you back against him, caging you against his chest with his arms.
“Fuck Javi- let me go-” You try to kick his knees but he anticipates it, shifting his legs to avoid you.
“Just wait- listen to me.” He swings you around a bit as he tries to still you, you can feel his breath hitching, the buttons of his shirt digging into your back. The two of you thrash around for another moment until you freeze, feeling something poking your hip. When he realizes why you stopped putting up a fight he lets you go in an instant. “Shit- I-I’m sorry.” He stammers as you turn around towards him, eyes wide.
You never thought you’d see Javier Peña flustered yet here he is. When you take a step back his cheeks are burning red, his fingers twitch nervously at his side, and as much as you try to ignore it, his pants are tighter than usual. (And considering how tight they usually are this is quite a feat.) He won’t look you in the eye.
“It- It’s fine, Javi.” You adjust the hem of your skirt, trying to fix your hair. You just can’t catch a break today. “It was an accident, there was a lot of- of friction and it happens. I think I should just go.” You stutter a bit trying to find the right words. This entire evening has been catastrophic, and you’re more than ready to call it a night.
“It’s not an accident.” He mumbles, finally looking at you, not bothering with subtlety as he adjusts himself. “You should probably go.”
If it’s not an accident you don’t want to go.
You want to stay and keep making accidents, starting with rushing forward into him, taking his face in your hands and kissing him. Which is exactly what you do. At first he doesn’t react and you worry you read the situation wrong but when you pull away, just an inch, his hands envelop you.
Hips, waist, back, shoulders, hair. He’s everywhere, all consuming as his teeth graze your lips, in an instant your backside hits his desk.
When he finally does remove his lips from yours his are slick and a tiny bit swollen, his pupils swallow his irises whole.
“I loved your gift, I wasn’t joking, it’s perfect and the last thing I want is for you to think that I don’t care about you. Of course we’re friends, you-” As he rambles on you ball up the end of his tie, unceremoniously shoving it between his teeth.
“Talk later, this now.” You grab the bottom of your sweater, pulling it up over your head, watching his jaw tense at the sight of your chest, his hands playing with the strap of your bra as you hop up onto his desk. Hiking your skirt up, he slots himself between your legs, your own fingers push your panties to the side as he reaches behind you, easily twisting the clasp of your bra to release it, tossing it to the side as his enormous palms engulf your breasts.
You dip your fingers into the wetness between your legs, briefly taking a moment to wonder how you found yourself here. Just moments ago you were ready to leave and consider your friendship with Javier over, yet now you’re spread out on his desk, on display for him as you sink your fingers into your eager cunt.
You don’t get to linger on the thought for long because he groans into the fabric of his tie and you’re pulled back into the moment.
Jesus you’re soaked.
You have no trouble pushing two slick digits into yourself. You can feel the outline of him against your thigh and you know that you need to warm yourself up to take him. He’s too engrossed in your tits to do it right now and you’ve waited too long for this, you don’t want to wait, you just want to have him.
He’s tender at first, squeezing and softly tracing the outline of your areola until he seemingly can’t control himself any longer and he pinches, rolling your nipples between his thumb and pointer finger as your whine. Back arching of the oak of his desk as you curl your own fingers. Even through the tie his moans are still somehow louder than yours, you’re briefly worried about someone hearing as you let out a whimper while he tweaks your nipple but the music’s so loud at the party you can hear Mariah Carey from here.
You don’t stop for a second, putting your focus on reaching the peak that you find yourself already getting startlingly close to. You can feel yourself pulsing as you pick up the pace, reveling in the way his eyes devour the very sight of you. You’re agonizingly close when he grabs your wrist, removing your fingers carefully as you try and resist, wanting to finish what you started, you’re about to whine when he begins unzipping his pants. You can feel your pussy clenching at the very sight of him, of course he isn’t wearing any underwear under his dress pants so the second his zipper is fully down his cock springs free.
Javier fucking Peña has a gorgeous cock.
Standing stiff and proud without either one of you even having to touch it. Pretty and pink on the tip, already leaking down the shaft. And heavy, as he takes it in his hand, his other hand gripping your waist as lines himself at your entrance. He takes a moment, eyes scanning your face, silently asking for permission.
You can’t nod fast enough but the second that you do he slides into you.
You could never conjure up something this good in your fantasies. The way he fills you, stretching you open as he whimpers into the fabric of his tie, you like that he listened, that he kept it in his mouth this long. His strokes are needy and fast, like he’s been waiting for this for so long and now he can’t help but be ravenous. You were already painfully close before he filled you with his perfect cock, it takes only a few minutes for you to be right back there. His fingers dig into your waist so hard that you’re certain he’ll leave marks as he slams in and out of you, pulling out almost entirely with every thrust.
You’re vaguely aware of the sound of his trinkets rolling off his desk and onto the floor.
“Javi, Javi, Javi.” Between gasps you chant his name, the sound encouraging him as he pushes in deep, his pelvis grinding against your clit until you see stars. Your cunt clenching around him as your orgasm is ripped out of you. Messy and loud and blurry, he fucks you through it. You’re so blissed out you can barely focus on the persistent pounding into you until you manage to come back to your senses and his hands leave your waist, instead intertwining with your fingers as his hips twitch forward and you feel him hastily pull out of you.
He spits his tie out, opting to instead bite your shoulder as he comes, the groan that leaves his throat is obscene. Raspy and filthy as he collapses down on top of you, the two of you sweating and gasping amongst the paperwork and pens now scattered across his desk.
Did that really just happen?
He manages to collect himself first, leaning back and tucking himself into his pants before quickly tending to you. He grabs a few tissues, wiping your stomach where the product of your activities lay, before redressing you, slipping the flats that had slipped off, back onto your feet, pulling your skirt back down to cover you as he slides your panties back into place, and retrieving your bra and sweater, lifting you into a sitting position as he redresses you, kissing your cheeks, nose, and forehead the entire time.
“All good?” He whispers, gentler than you’ve ever heard him as you nod, grinning.
“Good enough to make me forgive you for not getting me a present.” You reach into his drawer, grabbing your keys before sliding off of his desk.
“Maybe this was your present.” He tilts his head, kissing you again, smiling all the while.
“That was the perfect gift then.” Probably the best you’ve ever gotten.
“Are you gonna stay for the rest of the party?” He takes your hands in his, his thumbs absentmindedly rubbing circles into your skin.
“I think I need to go to bed after that.” You laugh as you jingle your keys, turning towards the door as he catches your lips in another kiss.
It makes your heart flutter. The continued affection makes you think this isn’t a one time thing. You want more. You want conversations about feelings, and to talk about what just happened, you want to feel him inside you again, and the look in his eyes tells you that you’re going to get all of that. But right now you’re tired, so the rest can wait.
“Can I walk you to your car?” You nod as he murmurs.
He doesn’t let go of your hand, walking you out of the building towards your car, opening the door for you and giving you one last kiss with a promise that he’d call you tomorrow, before you watched him walk back into the building.
Your phone buzzes as you turn your key in the ignition, the sound of Wham! fills the car, Last Christmas playing softly. You take your phone out of your pocket, checking the text notification from Javier.
[ i forgot to tell you how pretty your nails are. merry christmas hermosa ]
Your head turns up in surprise as you realize your radio is working. A new radio system is installed in the center of your dashboard, with a little green bow taped to the top, and a paper tag with Javi’s familiar messy handwriting.

Merry (early) Christmas! May I request Kaeya, Childe, Ayato, Neuvillette, and Wriothesley finding their s/o, who gets cold easily, wearing their jacket/coat?
Warm me up
# genshin impact !
⌗:, a/n: sorry for being away for a MONTH i was so stressed out from school... T-T and I AGAIN did add a lil bit spice for wrio. I can't stop myself.
⌗:, pairings: kaeya, childe, ayato, neuvillette & wriothesley w/ gn!reader
⌗:, extra: happy late Christmas I couldn't finish it because I was worn out </3
˗ˏˋ ꒰ KAEYA ꒱ ˎˊ˗
Its a little secret that none knows about. The coat he wears and what you wear on cold wintry days are his as well. It's quite noticeable but according to him, "Nobody's gonna know!". He goes crazy whenever he sees you wear his big coat. It makes you look so cozy...and soft...like a warm fireplace in winter morning which always have a welcoming feel to them.
The trip to Dragonspine was, as usual, extremely cold. The fire that Kaeya made from the dry firewood wasn't enough to keep you warm. "You want me to make the fire more big? I can find some more dry wood for you" He asked voice laced with concern. You knew that no matter how big the fire or enormous layers of cloth, you won't be able to keep yourself warm...unless Kaeya offers you his comfortably warm chest...and hands too.
As if able to understand your gaze since your shivering form really gave it away, he walked up and sat behind you. He wrapped his arm around your body gently and said, "Lay on me. It'll help you keep warm" you relaxed your body and brought your knees closer to yourself and making yourself feel at home. You heaved a sigh of relief as if you've finally been able to stop the piercing cold wind from affecting you any further. "Thank you Kaeya" he smiled at you, "As long as you're comfortable". He sealed the conversation with a kiss upon your forehead.
˗ˏˋ ꒰ CHILDE ꒱ ˎˊ˗
He has been born and brought up in Snezhnaya. A nation with only snowy landscape all around. Naturally he was quite well adjusted himself to the cold atmosphere of any place that you visit. While he should be having big long coats in such a dry and chilly climate, he refuses to wear it because, "You can't get this cold anywhere else! it's a test of courage!".
You had a cup of hot chocolate on your hand as you flipped through the pages of the book. The big bear blanket and the brightly lit fireplace did make you warm but not enough. You shivered "Brr...its really cold if only he was at home..." during the coldest of days you ache for his comforting presence and his big warm arms enveloping your body as you two cuddle in the plush couch often times drifting off to sleep unknowingly. You missed him so much that you quickly sprinted towards his closet and grabbed the biggest jacket of his. You scurried inside the multiple blankets and drew his big fluffy jacket around you. His familiar scent filled your senses. He smelled like the ocean, no matter how faint the scent was, it was refreshing.
....the door of the room opened, and the wooden floor dreaked beneath his boot-like-shoes. "Babe?" he quietly asked, hoping to receive an answer, but as soon as he was about to go find you, he saw you laying comfortably on your stomach with his big jacket enveloping you as you softly snored. He felt himself falling for you adorable antics all over again. He slowly picked you up in his arms and carried you to bed. He murmered, "Sweet dreams, sweetheart..." with a kiss.
˗ˏˋ ꒰ AYATO ꒱ ˎˊ˗
The ocean breeze can get quite chilly right? With the layers of clothes you had on you, the coat was barely enough to even keep the piercing cold win from making you whole body numb. Sure, you acted impulsively and decided to sit down near the railing. You started off into the vast ocean. Ayato wasn't here most of the time and your time of respite to soothe your heart from missing him. "He's taking care of matters....he will come back soon..." you mumbled and hugged your knees close.
You felt an already warm blanket being draped around your figure from the back. Looking at the delicate fabric and the seam's design you turned your head back a little too quickly. There he was...the one who you waited so long for...He chuckled softly seeing your bewildered face. "You'll catch a cold if you sit here in the cold like this with barely enough layers dearest" He kept his hand on your shoulder blades gently. "Ayato...I thought you'll come..." "Let's say I did a few little things here and there which allowed me to spend some more time."
You smiled at him sweetly and got down from thr railing. You intertwined your hands with his and with a peck on his cheek, " I missed you so much..."
˗ˏˋ ꒰ NEUVILLETTE ꒱ ˎˊ˗
"Not done yeeetttt?...." you slumped on the couch as you waited even longer for him.
With a chuckle, he said, "It's almost done... just a little bit longer, dear." Then soon he went to work and correct the piles of paperwork. He has been avoiding them for quite a while now, and it had to be done one day. He may be the cold and formal Iudex of Fontaine, but even he loses the grip on his stoic personality whenever he's with you.
The evenings are quite cold in Fontaine, and he saw how you tried to warm up your arms. You didn't want to disturb him since his pending work's deadline was tomorrow in the afternoon.
While you were busy staring into space, he wrapped his coat around you. "Hm? Suddenly?"
"I saw how you were trying to warm yourself up and I apologise. I can't be the one to warm you up but I hope my coat suffices?" He said chuckling, a hint of blush on his fair cheeks. You grinned from ear to ear, "It's quite enough Neuvi, thanks for caring about me so much" you cupped his cheeks gently with your hands.
"I love you" you said as you touched his forehead with yours. A sign of the utmost affection for one who is the Hydro Dragon Sovereign.
˗ˏˋ ꒰ WRIOTHESLEY ꒱ ˎˊ˗
"Sigh... I know it's cold, but that's no reason for you to stay under the covers... it's 9 pm, now how long do you plan to do it?"
Concern lacing his voice as he saw how you tried your best to warm up your feet with whatever you could find. "It's too cold and I can't keep bothering you for so long, you've got work to do" you tried to sound as if you were alright but in reality, fighting the cold was really taking out all your strength from you.
"Wait—" you felt the covers being lifted from your head. He swiftly carried you on his arms and ploped you on the plush couch. Upon inspecting your surroundings, you saw how he had prepared everything from A to Z... there was a warm tea, leg warmers and special fur on the couch, which was especially sold during winter and the fireplace. "Wriothesley? You prepared all this for me?" You spoke bewildered.
"Yes. All the things that will keep my beloved warm and happy while I'm unfortunately working, " he spoke gently, holding your hands. "Wow...looks like I won the lottery when I received a boyfriend," you said while ruffling his soft hair.
"It's good thank you... but" you smirked maybe something other than this can keep me more warm?" "What are you imply?— Oh...I see" he chuckled on realising your intention.
He slithered his hands on your thighs and seductively said, "I don't mind that warm treat on such a cold day"

baby its cold outside❄️ ⛄️
announcing your relationship!!
*christmas album schlatt ahead*
you and schlatt had been dating since the end of 2021 when you met in texas
when he decided he wanted to move back to new york, you immediately knew you wanted to follow him there
but here was the issue
no one knew you two were dating.
ofc there was speculation, but it was never confirmed, and you guys werent stupid
if the both of you randomly moved to new york you would never hear the end of it
and you both always knew you wanted to announce it in a fun way rather then through rumors
so when schlatt had announced he would be releasing a christmas album you knew it was time
you two had been friends for a long time as far as the fans knew, but you both felt it was time to finally announce your relationship so you could move on and live your lives, rather then hide from people
schlatt was going to move back in late may, and your plan was to join him in early august
the three months you guys spent apart only confirmed that this was the right decision for the both of you
when initially recording the songs of you two together, ill be honest, it was a fucking struggle
laughter, voice cracks and some small segments of yelling were filling up the recordings, rather then actual singing
but eventually when the album was released, fans immediately noticed the ft. of their favorite creator next to three different songs
fans went wild.
(understandable, i would too.)
a christmas special

✮⋆。°✩⋆˙ a christmas miracle
a 'when i kissed the teacher' spinoff.
summary: you and steve were in a weird situation. you weren't actively trying to get pregnant, but you weren't exactly being safe either. so, how will steve react when he opens his final christmas present?
warnings: dad!steve. mom!reader. fem!reader. afab!reader. 90s!au. mentions and allusions to sex. mentions of pregnancy. pet names. kissing. tons of crying. alena being too young to understand pregnancy (kinda cute tho). alena being a cutie pie as always. some worries over steve's reaction. but mostly fluff and comfort!! [1.9k].
author's note: hi everyone!! i am back!! my first semester of uni is finally over, so i can get back to fic writing a little more! i couldn't neglect my happy family like this, so i've tackled a pregnancy fic! i've never been pregnant, but i do wish to be in my life, so all of my research has been for my own benefit and utilised in this fic. if i'm inaccurate in any parts, please let me know for the benefit of the readers and myself!! ♡
It was hard not announcing the news to Steve. Having to attend your first scan without him was heartbreaking, but the look upon the nurse’s face after you told her you were going to wrap up the ultrasound photo, along with a card saying “Merry Christmas Daddy” and a pair of small, cream, woolen socks, just confirmed your decision was the right one.
You and Steve were in a sort of weird situation. You had stopped using protection, but weren’t in a position were you were actively trying to get pregnant. You agreed that any time from now was an okay time for the two of you to have a child, but also weren’t bothered if the pregnancy tests came back negative.
But, a little Christmas miracle decided to form inside of you, the test showing two lines on December 11th, 1999.
Steve and Alena had gone grocery shopping for an hour, the perfect opportunity for you to wrap Steve’s gift.
Rolling out the wrapping paper, you placed a grey, fluffy blanket in the centre, before laying on top the Christmas card which read:
Hi Daddy.
I’m six weeks old today!
I can’t wait to meet you soon! I’m planning to enter the world on August 20th, 2000.
My mom is keeping me very safe right now as I grow, but I’ll still be listening out for you from inside my home.
See you in nine months.
Love, your future child <3
And as you were about to place the ultrasound photo next to the cream baby socks you previous put underneath the card, your eyes started welling with tears once more.
Was it the hormones? Maybe. But, something in you felt this was all natural. You were growing a human life inside of you, one that has half of your DNA and the other half the love of your life’s. That was something to bask in the intense emotion of.
With everything laid out neatly, you reached over for the sellotape, folding over the edges and carefully sticking them in place.
Wrapping the gift in a pretty cream bow, matching the socks inside, and adding a label reading “To my darling Stevie,” you added it to the pile of increasing gifts in the corner of yours and Steve’s bedroom.
Now, just a week to go until he gets his surprise.
You cradle your stomach, despite the size not increasing at all yet, and whisper to your unborn child “A week and he’ll know, my love. Your beautiful existence will be known.”
“Mom! Dad! Wake up! Wake up!”
You are awoken by the sound of your bouncing ten-year-old, aggressively rocking your fiancé as he groans loudly, his eyes adjusting to the light peaking through the window.
“Mornin’ pumpkin,” he murmurs, you opening up one eye as Alena’s full set of brand-new adult teeth smile right at you.
“And what are you doing up so early, missy?” you ask, the clock on the bedside table next to Steve shining a bright 6:00 in the morning, illuminating the room in a red glow.
“Mom” she drags out, rolling her eyes playfully, “You know what day it is!”
You tap your chin lightly, playing along with the joke, “Hmm… I feel as if I may need a reminder.”
“It’s Christmas Mom! And I may or may not have seen all the presents you left underneath the tree…” her vocal pitch increases, looking away in a guilty look as Steve reaches up and pulls her down into his body, the girl screaming as he ruffles her hair.
“Did someone be naughty and peak underneath the tree?” he grits through his teeth, Alena shouting in a reply, “I didn’t mean to, I promise! I saw it on the way to your room!”
You begin to tickle her sides as Steve holds her in place against his chest, making the girl scream in delight loudly, “Is someone now on Santa’s naughty list?”
“Mom…” she pouts her lips, a grumpy expression adorning her face as you sigh sadly, “I know sweet cheeks, you don’t believe in him anymore.”
“I’m sorry…”
You hold out your arms as you wrap her in a warm hug, “Don’t be sorry, baby. I knew you would realise eventually. You’re getting too old!”
She gasps and looks into your eyes, crossing her arms over her chest, “I am not old! You and Dad are old.”
You start giggling in shock as Steve just opens his mouth wide, “You better watch yourself, pumpkin.”
“Yeah,” you hold up a finger in warning, before pointing it over to Steve, “Dad doesn’t like being reminded he’s in his mid-thirties.”
And now it is Steve’s turn to attack you, but instead with aggressive kisses, littering them up your neck and across your face lightly, Alena now old enough to understand the playful love between the two of you. “You’re almost thirty as well, you know.”
“Two more years to go, babe. I’m still in my prime development decade,” you smirk at him.
And it wasn’t just you who was developing.
A loud gasp can be heard along with the shredding of paper as Alena holds up her latest gift, “You actually got me it?”
For such a small gadget, the Barbie Digital Camera cost you $70, the most expensive gift yet, but maybe not the one which will cause the biggest reaction.
“Of course I did! It’s the one thing you kept pointing at in the magazine!”
She giggles with a bright smile, “Thank you! Thank you!”
She launches herself at you, the motherly instinct in you clutching onto your stomach to protect your unborn child, hoping Steve didn’t notice the movement. The surprise would be known in the next half an hour.
“And after you’ve taken your photos, we can connect it to Dad’s computer and see it come to life! How cool is that?”
“Can I take it to school?” she asks, clutching the box in her hands.
“I assume you can! But, just ask Mrs. Critchley before you take it in, okay?”
“Okay!” she smiles, plopping herself back down on the carpet to open the rest of her gifts.
Your hands began to sweat. Alena was all done opening her presents, patiently waiting for you and Steve to unwrap yours.
Steve let you attend to your gifts first. Everything from a brand-new necklace designed with a rose quartz, matching your engagement ring, to the latest Nokia phone, you were thankful for everything he had bought you, praising him with many gentle kisses and warm hugs.
Now, it was Steve’s turn. You specifically told him to leave one present until last, leading him to give you an eyebrow raise and a shrug before simply agreeing, used to your weirdness by now. You got him everything from a new cologne to a new pair of Nike shoes, the soles of his old pair wearing thin from how much he was working over the Christmas holidays.
But, after one final kiss, it was finally time.
“Can I open this now?” Steve jokes, the nerves deeply settling in your stomach. You don’t even know why you were worried, you had stopped using protection in mutual agreement, knowing kids could be a possibility from that result. There was just a voice in your head trying to convince you an awful reaction would occur.
“Uh, yeah… Yeah, you can.”
“Hey,” he puts an arm on your shoulder, “Why are you so nervous?”
You lightly chuckle, “You’ll find out once you open the gift.”
Even after all of these years, Steve still wasn’t the smartest. Verbal cues were not his strong suit, but my God could he read body language like a champ.
He gives you a confused look before unwrapping the cream-coloured bow, delicately tearing apart the paper as his eyes immediately notice the ultrasound scan.
He may be oblivious, but he isn’t that oblivious. He has one very similar in his bedside table drawer of his sweet ten-year-old daughter sat next to him.
The tears form at his eyes before he can even recognise them. Small sniffles enter the atmosphere as his hazel eyes make contact with you, “Are you serious?”
And the tears follow suit for you, nodding frantically as he leans across the floor to collect you in his arms, crying into your shoulder.
“How far along?” he mumbles into your shoulder, tears dripping onto the red fabric of your dress.
“Read the card and you’ll find out.”
Steve was too drawn into the ultrasound scan to even notice the card you had gotten him. Releasing from the hug, he keeps a gentle hand on the small of your back, picking up the card and carefully opening it, reading the words you had written, the tears increasing as he noticed it was from the perspective of his baby.
“Wha— How? When did you get this done?” he stutters out, still in complete shock of the entire moment.
“Pregnancy test has been in the bathroom trash can for two weeks. I was scared you were going to notice it for a while, but then I remembered it’s you, and you don’t notice anything,” you giggle, Steve not even bothered by the joking insult, too caught up in his own emotions, “And two Thursday’s ago, I didn’t go to work. Went to the hospital and got the scan, and just hung around Starcourt until the time I would normally come home.”
“Well, you fooled me,” he chuckles, leaning in for a kiss which you gladly accept, cupping his cheeks as you smile into it.
“I love you so much, beautiful girl. And I love the baby who is growing inside of you. You’re so strong. Your body is so strong. I just— I can’t wait. I can’t wait to meet them.”
His hand had migrated down to your stomach, gently cradling the unborn child inside of you.
Alena had finally looked up from her Etch-a-Sketch, noticing the tears falling down both yours and Steve’s cheeks, your hands holding tightly onto each side of his head as your foreheads were leant against each other, kneeling on the soft carpet of the living room.
“Mom? Dad? Why are you crying?”
Steve turns around to face his daughter, you looking softly into her eyes, “Because Mom is having a baby, sweetie.”
Steve passes her the ultrasound scan, her face scrunching up in confusion as she points at it, “Why is it just a black blob?”
Steve begins laughing as his head falls onto your shoulder, sweetly rubbing up and down the sides of your waist.
“Because when a baby is first made, it starts out as a black blob and then grows into the full size baby we all know and love,” you explain gently to her.
“Hmm…” she takes in, before asking her next question, “But how did it get there?”
Your eyes widen as Steve’s hands stop on your waist, refusing to lift his head and look at his daughter.
You smile through the awkwardness, remembering that her sex education lessons would start in a matter of months, “You’ll find out soon, baby.”
thank you ever so much for reading!! do you guys want any more pregnancy related fics? i really want to do some research into post-partum for myself, so do you want me to skip straight to that, or tackle other things like morning sickness, gender reveal, baby shower, stuff like that? feel free to let me know!! ♡

He’s never really been good at telling you that he wants you. although its fairly easy to tell when he does. “that’s what you were thinking about at your desk hmm…The feeling of my body under your hands…my lips on yours…of bettter, wrapping around your-”
“YES YES IM SORRY!” He blurts out. You chuckle glancing down noticing the tent in his pants just from you mentioning a few little things.
You look up at him through your lashes your eyes dark with lust now having the best idea.
You move your hand to his chest slowly moving it down his middle.
“im sorry i made you wait so long baby.” You reply kissing his cheek.
“y-y/n what are you-Ngh.” He groans as your hand rubs over the bulge eventually unzipping his pants and freeing his hardened cock. He hisses at the cold air around it but its subdued by your warm hand. Thank god for your tinted windows and blizzard it weather it just looks like you two got stuck on the side of the road from the snow.
“f-fuck..” he gasps as you stroke his shaft with your hand as he shifts his hips upwards into you.
you kisses his neck unbuttoning the first few buttons getting more of his skin.
“When we get home…if your good that is…i’ll let you fuck me raw.” You say into his ear before moving down and wrapping your mouth around him.
“F-fu-shit!” He gasps twitching in your mouth. You swirl your tongue around his tip, as you suck and bob your head. You move your hair out of the way.
He chuckles breathily and pulls your hair back wrapping your long locks around his hand holding it up for you. His hips buck up into you the feeling of your warm mouth around him getting to be too much just after a few minutes.
“Fuck y/n-!” He moans out his head falling back to the seat as you deep throat him swallowing him. Then popping off him and doing it again.
He moans as you feel him pulse in your mouth this time cumming. You make sure to swallow him all making sure not to make a mess. He releasing his hold from your hair. You release him from your mouth smiling as his chest heaves. He looks down at you pulling your face to his kissing you. You kiss him back.
You pull away sitting back up into the seat pulling your hair up in a rubber band around your wrist.
“So home?” You ask looking at him. He nods tucking himself back in his pants and speeds off.

the way home
pairing: non-idol!yoshi x gn!reader
genre: silly fluff. established relationship au.
word count: 0.7k~
warnings: mentions of homesickness + food mentions.
daisy's notes: he is so <3 to me
One of your least favorite sights in the world was the sight of your boyfriend upset. On the very slight bright side, you at least knew why that was: Yoshinori was homesick. He’d see families out and about when the two of you went for walks together, and you’d see the way his smile faltered a little bit. You’d always squeeze his hand reassuringly, and he’d meet your eyes before smiling again, but you knew he missed his mom and his sisters.
Which meant you’d find a way to cheer him up. Hyunsuk and Jihoon had let you into the apartment that morning before heading out for a bit, and you’d decided to focus on making something sweet for breakfast while Yoshi was still asleep. At some point, Junkyu had wandered into the kitchen before spotting you and rubbing his eyes. He furrowed his brows, looking around for a moment as if he didn’t just come from his shared room with Yoshi.
“Yoshi’s asleep—”
“Let him sleep,” you had said. “I’ll wake him up when I’m done.” You paused while plating up another pancake. “Want a few? I made plenty.”
He’d merely stolen one off of the top, taking a bite. He shut his eyes, slowly chewing as he savored it. “You’re amazing.”
With a smile, you’d merely shrugged. This was far from the first time you’d heard that from one of Yoshi’s housemates—namely coming after you’ve cooked for any of them. “I know. Like I said… Don’t wake Yoshi up yet.”
Of course, things didn’t go entirely according to plan. Eventually he’d made his way to the bathroom, only realizing the smell of pancakes in the air on his return trip to his room. When he’d seen you, he’d only slightly complained about you not waking him up… but he’d let it go easily enough. His face had fallen into your shoulder as he wrapped his arms around you, slowly waking up while you finished off the last of the batter.
“So…” You’d said to him while he was enjoying breakfast. “I’ve been thinking…”
He looked up. “Hm?”
“I wanna give you your Christmas present early.”
Immediately, you heard the clatter of a fork, and Yoshi’s soft apology. “I haven’t bought yours yet—”
“That’s okay,” you said. “I really didn’t expect anything today. I just…” You reached for your bag, opening it up to pull out an envelope. “I kinda have to tell you now.”
Yoshi glanced from your face down to the envelope you were now holding out to him, mouth slightly agape as he accepted it. You watched with a smile as he slipped his fingers underneath the fold, slowly tearing it open as he pulled out two plane tickets. His head jerked up as he looked at you.
“These are—”
“Before you say anything,” you stopped him, “I didn’t pay for these alone.”
“But how did you—”
“Your mom and sisters helped me work something out,” you said. “Merry Christmas?”
He slowly pushed the tickets back into their envelope, clearly unsure of what to say. “I… Thank you, but—I thought we were going to pay for this trip together.”
The two of you had been discussing this for months now: he’d wanted you to meet his family in-person. He was serious enough about you, and video calls didn’t feel like enough. You rested your head in one hand. “I know. We can take another trip together in the future. I just… You’ve clearly been homesick for a while now, and I really hate seeing you so upset.”
“I…” He sniffled, reaching up to wipe his eyes on his sleeve. “You didn’t have to.”
“I wanted to,” you said. “And I figured I should tell you now so we can figure out our plans.”
Yoshi stood up so that he could lean over the table and kiss you as best he could. “I love you,” he mumbled against your lips, and when he pulled away, you could see him wiping at his eyes again. “They’re going to love you, too,” he said, voice softer this time. “My mom already does, but…”
You just smiled to yourself, admiring him as he went back to eating—excitedly already talking about the places he’d show you back home. Sure, you’d met his family through plenty of video calls, but this was different. And if it meant you’d see Yoshi this happy… You’d have to sneak around and do this again sometime.

Watch Your Step
Epilogue for Sweet Treats AU: by character | chronological | epilogues
Warnings: these drabbles will include dark elements such as noncon, control, intimidation, and other stuff that may not be specified. Take this as you chance to scroll by.
Note: love you all.
Please let me know what you think <3
🍭🍭🍭
You stare at the shelf. The selection is limited, much like everything else in this town. It’s good. It means no one important will be around. At least, you thought so.
Your mind wanders back to the cafe and the man who sits daily with demands that only Birdy serves him. And that other man, the one who walked in and turned the air frigid with just his appearance. Coco said he had a lot of questions. Well, so do you, like who the fuck is he?
Ah, fuzzy peaches. That’s what Birdy asked for. You think of grabbing some of the sour cherries but you really shouldn’t. You’re certain your careless work time snacks are starting to catch up to you. You certainly feel some extra jiggle in your ass.
Right, well, you’ll forego the sweets but you should get something for Coco. She’s been… stressed. You’re all on edge but lately, she’s been wound tight.
You go to the rack of chocolate bars and consider the various labels. Your vision blurs as your mind wanders. You don’t know how she did it for years. Birdy almost spent a whole year with her psycho and you, a couple months, but Coco, she was in it. She was resigned to it.
Now she’s like a dog let out of the pound. She’s lost and confused but too proud to admit it.
Maybe you are too.
You settle on salted caramel but as you reach for the bar, another hand appears and smacks into your own clumsily. You back away in surprise and face the man as he gives an apologetic look. You scrunch your nose at the trim of hair above his lip. It must be a popular style around here. You thought for sure that jackass at the cafe was the only one tacky enough to support a tash stache.
“Sorry, I guess we had the same thought,” he chuckles and plucks out the salted caramel bar, “here.”
He offers the chocolate. You eye it and take it from him. You wiggle it with a dry smirk and turn on your heel. You strut towards the counter and put down your wares as the cashier rings you through.
You thank her and take the candy. Is there not enough sugar at the cafe? You shake your head and march out of the store.
The winter brings with it early evenings and a bitter chill in the air. It’ll be a strange Christmas but the holidays have never been very special for you. You stroll past the red and green storefronts. Coco wants to do candy cane hot chocolate as the special. You told her to do whatever, you don’t know much about food besides what tastes good.
You stop at the hobby shop. Half thrift and half novelty. There’s a used acoustic guitar in the window with flowers painted on the body. No, save your money. Even these snacks are a drain on the pot. You told the girls, you gotta be smart. Be ready to leave at any moment and moving is easier with money.
“You play?” A deep timbre permeates your mindless gazing.
“Little,” you answer dully as you peek over your shoulder. It’s the same man. “Don’t like being followed.”
“I’m not following you,” he tilts his head.
“No?”
“I’m walking in the same direction. Just happened to catch up.”
“Sure,” you cross your arms and raise your chin defiantly. “Well then, go on. Be on your merry way.”
His eyes twinkle as he watches you. He scoffs. He pushes back his shoulders, emphasizing his broad silhouette. He’s a big guy but you’re wily. You dealt with worse in New York.
“Sweet tooth?” He nods to the wrapper poking out of your jacket pocket.
“Nosy?” You counter.
His jaw ticks and his eyes drift over, “you must not be from around here.”
“Is it any of your business?”
“Ha, I only say that because the locals tend to be a lot nicer. You seem like the city type.”
“Oh, and you seem like the dumb type. Not interested.” You sigh and tuck your hands into your pocket and twirl away, “if you follow me another block, you won’t get to wherever you’re going.”
He chortles as you step to the curb, “frisky.”
You glance back from the corner of your eye as you cross the street. His shadow is unmoving as he remains where you left him. You squeeze the heavy metal shape in your pocket. If he so much as takes a step towards you, you won’t hesitate to unfold the blade.

Taking Comfort (In Your Arms) - Chapter 16
December 1944
My dearest Addie,
Merry Christmas, darling. Wishing more than anything I was by your side saying those words instead of being thousands of miles away from you. We got the best Christmas present we could’ve ever asked for - Red Cross parcels filled with food and chocolate. Sad to say I couldn’t ask for anything else, except maybe pulling you into my arms and kissing you senselessly.
There’s more and more scuttlebutt of us moving out but it’s hard to believe what’s real or not. I promise you I’ll continue to write to you, no matter where I end up.
I have a promise to uphold - I’m going to watch you walk down an aisle to me. Buck is going to be my best man and Elizabeth your maid of honor. I promise the three of us, along with DeMarco, Brady, and all the boys will make it home to you and the base.
I love you with all my heart.
Yours,
John
My dear John,
Merry Christmas, handsome. I’ve got two years of presents to give you next time I see you - just something for you to look forward to. The kitchen has promised a Christmas feast for the ages - I just hope there’s some kind of real meat being served this year.
We got our first dusting of snow - though I’m sure it’s nothing to the amount of snow you’d get back home in Wisconsin. Meatball had fun running through the snowy fields. Though, he didn’t quite enjoy the bath I had to give him afterwards. Actually, I didn’t enjoy that much either - him shaking in the middle of the bath isn’t my definition of a good time.
I wish I could hear your voice and your arms wrapped around me in one of your comforting hugs. I don’t even care what we were arguing about before you went down - it’s in the past and something I’ve forgiven you for a long time ago.
My Christmas wish this year? That you’ll come home this next year - I can’t take another year without at least seeing you. Here’s to hoping this one comes true.
With all my love,
Addie
February 3, 1945, 0630 Hours
She pulled John’s jacket tighter around her, trying to combat the freezing cold. Watching the puffs of air swirl in the cold morning breeze, she sighed. Waiting. That’s all she felt like she was doing those days.
Watching Meatball running in the grass made her smile. At least someone was enjoying the cold.
“You look grumpy. Also, good morning.” The cheerful voice called from behind her.
Slowly turning, she glared at the voice before softening her look as he neared. “Good morning, Rosie. Why do you have to be so cheerful this early in the morning?”
“It’s going to be a good day, Addie.” He stopped, giving her a look before pulling her into a hug. “Did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed?”
Shaking her head, she sighed. “Waiting, Rosie. It just sucks and I’m in a mood. Doesn’t help you’re going back up today.”
His arms tightened around her as she placed her head on his shoulder. A few more sighs escaped her mouth. “We’re so close to this war ending, Addie; closer than we have been in years. Hilter has a two-front war, the absolute last thing he wanted. You’ve had a hell of the last year and half but we’re nearing the finish line. Just hold on a bit longer. We’ll get our boys back and make sure John returns to you.”
She gave him a hug before stepping away, running a hand through her hair. She smiled wearily. “Thanks Rosie.”
“Anytime. Douglass and Blakely are both staying back today so if you need anything, go to them.” He spoke quietly, knowing he would soon need to head to the trucks. “Dinner when I get back?”
“Of course, Rosie. I’ll save you a seat. Safe flying today.” She gave him a salute, which he wholeheartedly returned, pulling her into another hug.
“Have a good day, Addie.” With one final nod, he headed to the truck, leaving her alone. Whistling, she got Meatball’s attention before heading into the warm tower.
Pouring herself a cup of coffee, she took a seat at her desk, wishing more than anything that the day would go by quickly.
Sixteen months of waiting and hoping that her boys would come home safe.
1400 Hours
Hearing the familiar roar of the planes returning, she grinned knowing the entire base would be in great spirits. Jeffrey was already talking about how important that day’s mission was for both the boys on base and the Allies in general.
Pushing away from her desk, she gave Josie a look, pulling on the now famous John Egan jacket. “I'm going to go greet Rosie outside of interrogation. You want to come?”
Nodding, Josie stood, prompting Meatball to join the girls as they made their way outside. Meatball ran ahead, greeting men as they jumped off the trucks, heading into interrogation. Cheerful greetings were given to her as she made her way towards the hut.
Trying to get out of the cold wind, she buried her hands into her jacket as she bounced on her toes, trying to generate some heat. Her eyes scanned the airfield, smiling seeing it busy with crews and men. Seeing her brother walk out of the interrogation hut caused her to smile big. “Charlie! What are you doing in interrogation? Didn’t know they had pulled you in.”
“They called me in to hear something.” Charlie bit his lip, giving his sister a look. “You need to come with me, there’s something I need to tell you.”
Not liking how that sounded, she silently followed Charlie as he led her to his classroom hut. Charlie nodded over her shoulder, as he held open the door. Josie followed behind the siblings, picking up Charlie’s mood. Whatever he was going to tell the girls wasn’t exactly good news.
Picking up on his hesitancy, Addie leveled her brother, giving him a look. “Don’t beat around the bush and don’t try to spare my feelings. What’s going on?”
Charlie sighed, running a hand through his hair as he looked at his little sister. The sister that had already been dealt two difficult blows and he’s about to tell her something else that was going to devastate her. “The reason I was called into interrogation is because Rosie went down, somewhere east of Berlin. The boys reported 7 parachutes from his plane, so we have hope, but we just don’t know which side he was picked up by.”
Stumbling back, the back of her legs knocked into a desk. Leaning on it, she breathed deeply, giving her brother a look. “Charlie, tell me it’s anyone else. But just not Rosie.”
Pulling Addie into his arms, he ran his hand up and down her back. She placed her head on his shoulder, muttering to herself. “He was supposed to beat the odds and not get shot down. He’s done so many missions.”
“God, Addie, I wish more than anything I wasn’t telling you this news.” Charlie whispered, tightening his arms around her. “The hope is that there were chutes, Addie. We have to hope that he was picked up by the Russians. Rosie’s smart, he’ll do everything he can to get back here.”
Tears fell from her eyes. She didn’t know how much more heartache she could endure with those that she loved leaving her. Damn the Germans and damn this blasted war.
My dear Adelaide,
I just realize I don’t often call you that and for that I apologize. I do love your full name.
I’m writing to you to tell you we have marched. All I know is that we’re near Nuremberg. We marched for a day or so, stuffed us into a brickworks building for the night, then pushed us into train cars for the ride to Nuremberg.
Addie, baby, I’m scared but I can’t show it. Buck and I have to be strong for the men - they look to us for leadership and while this is difficult, I can’t let them down, not now. But it’s hard and with the Germans not telling us anything, it’s hard to figure out where they’re taking us. I don’t know what lies ahead for us.
God, Addie. All I wanted to do, since that October was get back to you. And I don’t know if I’ll ever be home. Know that I’m doing all I can to get home to you, darling. I promise, no matter how many days I have left, that I’m fighting like hell to get home to you.
I promise I’m coming home, Addie. Right back to you.
With all my love,
John
February 6, 1944, 0700 Hours
Sitting in the mess hall, she sipped her coffee, attempting to fight off a yawn. She hadn’t been sleeping well the last few days, Josie sat across from her fighting off the same sleepiness.
Sighing grumpily, she swallowed a gulp of coffee, her eyes trailed around the somewhat busy mess hall. There was a mission going on that morning, but she was surprised by how busy it was. There were two tables up the way from her and Josie’s table filled with men happily joking and teasing each other. Usually, Addie and Josie would be seated at those tables but this morning, between the anxiety of waiting for news on Rosie and the sleepiness, her and Josie choose a quieter table away from the crowds.
“This weather isn’t helping the want to crawl back into bed for the morning.”
“No, it’s not.” Josie murmured, taking another sip of her coffee. “Are you doing anything important today or could you call off for the day?”
Shrugging, she bit back another yawn. “Jeffrey is in London so the tower will be quiet. Though, apparently, we’re getting a big mail call so maybe it’ll just be a half day then I can attempt to get some sleep.”
Whatever Josie was going to say was cut off by the door being thrown open with a pissed off Crosby walking towards Clouter and Blakely’s table. Josie’s eyes went wide as she looked over at Addie. Addie whistled quietly, knowing it was rare for Cros to be pissed off. She watched him stalk up to Clouter, hands on his hips with an angry look on his face.
“I guess you’ve never flown over Germany without a parachute, huh?” Crosby attempted to catch his breath all while giving Clouter a look of disbelief.
Clouter chuckled. “Well, I don’t know, Crosby. Have you?”
What happened next caused both Josie and Addie to gasp. They watched Crosby slam Clouter’s head into his plate of bacon and eggs, holding his head down as he uttered, “Now from here on out, you’re going to keep that equipment hut opened and manned until wheels up plus 30 minutes. Yes, Major?”
“Yes, Major.”
Addie watched Crosby stalk out of the mess hut, as if he didn’t just punish someone. Her eyes trailed back to where Blakely was telling the boys to clean up and get a move on. Blakely watched the boys silently leave the mess hall before stopping at the girls’ table. “What was that about?”
“Your guess is as good as ours, Blakely.” Addie raised an eyebrow at him. “I’m guessing the crew didn’t have the equipment they needed to go up. You know Crosby as well as I do - he doesn’t get pissed off very often.”
Blakely nodded. “Can you go check up on him? I don’t think he’s doing too good.”
“None of us are okay, Blakely.” Addie gave him a look. “We’re all on edge waiting for news of Rosie and the boys. But yes, I will finish up here then I’ll go check up on him.”
Twenty minutes later, pushing back from the table, Addie gave Josie a tight smile before leaving her with two mugs of coffee in her hand. Making her way from the hut, she walked across the way towards the command center, Meatball on her heels. Pushing open the door, she made her way inside, cheerfully greeting everyone good morning, as she walked towards Crosby’s office.
Setting the mug of coffee on his desk, she leaned against the door, raising an eyebrow. “Brought you some coffee. Want to clue me in on what happened earlier?”
“Three men showed up at my door, letting me know the equipment hut was locked and they didn’t have parachutes.” Crosby took a long sip of coffee, before raising his eyes to meet hers. “That pissed me off because -”
Addie cut him off before he could go any further. “You don’t have to say anything, Croz. That pisses me off too and I don’t even have to have you finish your thoughts. You definitely made your point. Blakely wanted me to come check up on you.”
“I’m fine.” Crosby ran a hand through his hair, sighing loudly. “I called Bill earlier and he told me they still haven’t heard anything about Rosie or the crew.”
It was Addie’s turn to sigh, shaking her head before taking a sip of her coffee. A cuss escaped her mouth as she was starting to believe, no news was good news in this case.
“I don’t know how much longer I can hold on to hope, Croz.” Addie whispered softly, turning her sad eyes to him.
Crosby stood, quickly shaking, taking her mug from her, placing it on the table. He pulled her into a gentle hug, her head dropping to his shoulder. “Don’t lose hope, Addie. It’ll be a sad day on base when that happens. You are helping us all keep going and if you lose hope, what does that say for the rest of us?”
“Croz, I can’t continue to say goodbye.” She whispered, tears falling down her face as she sniffled. “My heart can’t take another goodbye.”
Crosby sighed. “Please just hold on a bit longer. Rosie is alive, I can feel it and he’ll be coming home to us soon.”
“God, I hope you’re right, Crosby.” She pulled back, wiping her eyes, sighing. “God, I hope you’re right.”
Dear John,
Sixteen months - that’s how long it’s been since I’ve hugged, kissed or seen you. I lost it with Crosby the other day - I’m glad you didn’t see the ugly cry I had but I somehow felt better afterwards.
Rosie went down, John. He went down February 3rd somewhere east of Berlin. Seven chutes were reported but no idea who made it out or where they ended up. It sucks, John. I’m tired of saying goodbyes - I much prefer hellos, though I haven’t had the opportunity to say much of those.
Anna made a stop on the base. Charlie and her are engaged (finally)! Charlie took her up in Daffodil and proposed to her after a joyride over East Anglia. They’ve promised to wait until you and Elizabeth are home but I've never seen my brother so happy. Makes me have a bit of hope for the future.
Tell the boys I send my regards and hellos. Stay warm, John.
Sending you all my love.
Addie
February 15, 1945, 1500 Hours
Throwing the tennis ball, she watched Meatball tear off after it. The afternoon had passed slowly, Jeffrey finally telling her to get out. She knew she was just going through the motions, waiting for the day to end so she could crawl into bed and attempt to settle her mind. But with a thousand and one thoughts, she could never settle to get a good night's sleep. She ended up tossing and turning until another day began.
Between Jeffrey, Josie, and Crosby, all three were mother henning her. Threats of the infirmary were common, which was the absolute last thing Addie wanted. Most nights she managed four hours of sleep, tossing and turning the other hours away. That past night she had somehow gotten six hours of sleep, and she felt the best she had in the 12 days since Rosie went down.
Meatball returned to her, sitting at her feet. Reaching down, she grabbed the tennis ball from him before throwing it again. It was a rare sunny day, so most of the men were out and about, enjoying the sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Hearing a door slam shut, she looked over to see Charlie and Red both leaving the tower. Meatball returned, happily panting as he dropped the ball at her feet. She grimaced, picking up the gross ball. Chucking it, she giggled watching him eagerly take off after it.
“Addie!” Charlie cheerfully called out as he and Red made their way over to where she stood. “We just got a call from the guard station - Rosie’s back!”
Her eyes went wide at Charlie’s cheerful call. “What? You’re not joking with me are you?”
“No, the guard just called and said he was back. He should be pulling up any time.”
Just as the words left his mouth, she heard the familiar roar of a jeep as it neared them. As it came closer, she saw who was sitting in the passenger seat. Instantly tears clouded her eyes as she saw him grinning as the men ran alongside the jeep. A hand flew to her mouth, a sob tearing from her mouth. She saw his arm in a sling, but other than that he looked okay.
Charlie watched his sister break down, more from relief than anger, he guessed. She fell to a crouch as more tears streamed down her face. Charlie stood by helplessly as he knew she had to process what she was feeling but he was glad to see one of her best friends return to base, the grin on his face evident by how Rosie was feeling too.
As the jeep pulled to a stop, Rosie pushed through the crowd, crouching in front of Addie, reaching tentatively forward to place a hand on her shoulder. Looking up, she saw that it was him in front of him, another sob tearing from her mouth. Rosie chuckled, stood up, tugging her into his arms, hugging her. “I’m so sorry I made you worry, Addie. That was the only thing I was thinking of when I went down.”
Laughing, she stepped back looking at him. She saw a cut on his cheek but other than that he looked to be safe. She threw her arms back around him, tugging him into another hug as she laughed, emotions all over the place at seeing him safe and sound. “Oh, Rosie, that doesn’t matter now. You’re back!”
“It’s good to be back, Addie.” He chuckled alongside her, swaying her side to side.
She pulled back, swiping at her eyes. “God, I’m a mess. But you came back.”
“I told you I would.” He chuckled. “Shall we have that dinner I promised you 12 days ago?”
Laughing again, Addie nodded. “We shall, then you’ll tell me what happened over the last 12 days?”
“Of course, Addie. Let me say hello to the men then we’ll go grab dinner.” He promised, stepping away to greet everyone.
Addie stood off to the side, Meatball by her side, watching proudly. Hellos were much preferred, but her heart stilled. There were three hellos that she wished more than anything she could make - she just had to hold on for a bit longer.
“Ready?” Rosie stood to the side of her, offering his arm to her.
Slipping her arm into his, Rosie led her towards the mess hall. Addie smiled, feeling the breeze ruffle her hair. “Good to be back, Rosie?”
“You have no idea, Addie.” He smiled, opening the door to the mess for her, motioning her to head inside. Walking down the aisle, she found an empty table near the back, taking a seat. She smiled, watching Rosie get stopped by the men as they welcomed him back.
Twenty minutes later, Rosie finally joined her at the table with a grin on his face. “Don’t let me keep you from your fanclub, Rosie.”
He laughed, shaking his head. “Can’t help that everyone wants to welcome me back. Sorry to keep you waiting, though.”
“They love you, Rosie.” She grinned. “It’s alright. Now tell me about the last few days. Who ended up picking you up?”
Plates were placed in front of them, Rosie took a quick bite before meeting her eyes. “Russians picked me up as soon as I fell. They set my arm, cleaned me up and got me on a transport to Poland. Let’s just say that whatever the Germans have coming for them, they have it coming. The things they did, I’ll spare you the horrors Addie.”
“They will pay, Rosie. The Allies will make them pay.” She murmured, concerned at his attitude. “What can I do, Rosie?”
He gave her a half smile. “Just sit here with me. Help me remember I’m back, safe and sound.”
“Done.” She motioned to his plate. “Eat some of that - don’t want your mother yelling at me because I let her baby boy get too skinny.”
He laughed at that. “God, you meeting my mother. That’ll be the day.”
“I look forward to it, Rosie.” She chuckled. “You’ll have to meet my father, next time he’s on base. You’ll meet my sister eventually when she gets back. The whole damn family, Rosie. Looking forward to that day.”
“Same, Addie, same.” He grinned at her, taking a sip of his coffee, sitting easy in his chair.
Addie smiled. “It sure is good to have you back, Rosie.”
April 2, 1945, 0900 Hours
Sitting at her desk, Addie shuffled through some papers, looking for something Jeffrey had requested. The slamming of the door caught her attention as she watched Crosby, Red, and Kidd come marching in, a mix of determination and excitement on all of their faces. “Addie, come with us please.”
Eyes wide, she looked over at Josie, who returned her gaze with her own wide eyes. Pushing away from her desk, she hastily grabbed a pad of paper and a pen before following the men into Jeffrey’s office.
Jeffrey sat at his desk, reading a piece of paper that she watched Crosby hand him as his eyes widened. “When did you receive this?”
“Ten minutes ago. Told Red and Kidd and we knew you needed to be aware.” Crosby said, running a hand through his hair, a grin tugging on his lips. “Haven’t even told Addie yet.”
Looking between the men, she stood tall, not sure why she was even in the room. “Do you need me to take notes on something?”
“No, we will need you to take a B-17 and do a pick up in Paris.” Jeffrey said, giving her a look. “Do you think you can do that?”
Addie looked at Jeffrey, mildly amused. “Sir, I don’t know if you know but I can’t exactly go ferry a plane with the ATAs. I’m kinda on their shit list, sir.”
Jeffrey chuckled at her deadpan explanation. “I’m well aware of what you can and cannot do, Captain Baker. However, this isn’t ATA business.” Jeffrey looked between Addie and the other men in the room. “This is Air Force business and you’re a qualified pilot to go make this run.”
Not understanding him, Addie tilted her head, puzzlement clearly on her face. She never did have a great poker face. “With all due respect, sir, Kidd is a qualified pilot who could easily do this run. Why me?”
“This mission is more personal to you rather than Kidd, though I’m sure he will be your co-pilot if you wish.” Jeffrey smiled, looking between her and Kidd.
Frustration coursed through her. She was blatantly missing something, the other four were clued into. “Will you quit beating around the bush and tell me what this mission is? I feel like I’m missing something.”
Jeffrey set the piece of paper on the desk, folding his hand, leaning back in his chair to look at Addie. “Gale Cleven escaped from a night march a few weeks ago and managed to run into some American troops and he needs to be picked up. We figured he’d appreciate a familiar face picking him up. Are you up for the flight?”
“He escaped?” She gasped, immediate tears lining the corners of her eyes. “Any word on the others?”
Crosby shook his head. “We didn’t hear anything about anyone else. Just Buck - he and another escapee ran into American forces in Germany. They flew him to Paris, did a full checkup on him then we got the call a bit ago.”
“When can I go get him?” Addie asked, biting her lip, attempting to keep the tears of relief from falling. As happy as she was for Buck’s escape, she still worried about Bucky and him staying behind.
Looks were exchanged between Jeffrey, Crosby, Red, and Kidd before Jeffrey looked at her. “Wheels up in an hour - you’re going straight to Paris, landing at the base, then coming straight back here - no stops. There and back. You’ll be on the ground for less than an hour, but you know what to bring, just in case. Bring your flight book and your ATA stuff.”
“Yes sir. Can I go by myself?” She asked, looking between the men. “I’ll have a co-pilot on the way back.”
Jeffrey gave her a long look. “You sure you don’t want someone to go with you? I’ll give the Paris base a heads up but not sure how they’re going to react with a female pilot landing on their base.”
“It wouldn’t be the worst place I’ve landed.” She smirked, shaking her head. “Give them the heads up and I’ll go get my things. If they give you a hard time, let me know and I’ll bring someone. But if they don’t, then I go by myself.”
“I will meet you on the hard stand and will let you know what they say.” Jeffrey gave her a look as she quickly saluted.
Without another word, she turned and headed out of Jeffrey’s office. Stopping by Josie’s desk, she let the tears that she had held back finally fall. Collapsing into Josie’s arms, she cried for a few minutes. “Buck escaped, Josie. I’m going to Paris to pick him up and bring him home.”
“He did?” Josie gasped, hugging her friend tighter. “Any word on anyone else?”
Shaking her head, Addie sighed. “Just Buck made the escape. Jeffrey is calling the Paris base to let them know I’m coming. If they don’t protest, I get to go by myself to get him. If they complain, I’ve got to take a co-pilot with me. “
“Promise me you’ll be safe - we’re so close Addie.” Josie whispered, hugging her tighter.
Nodding, Addie promised. “I’ve got to go get my things. Will you get Charlie out to the hardstand - if I have to take a co-pilot, I want it to be him, rather than anyone else.”
Walking out of the tower behind her, Josie promised she would get Charlie before the two walked different ways. Addie quickly grabbed her gear, luckily never unpacked it from her last unexpected mission before walking out, Meatball by her side. “Wish you could go with us buddy, but I’ll be back before you know it. Josie will watch you while I’m gone.”
Taking her time to walk out to the hard stand, she felt a few different emotions. On one hand, she was happy that Buck was making his way home. But at the same time, her heart hurt that Bucky didn’t get to make the escape with his best friend. She was worried how he was holding up without Buck by his side.
Sighing, she crouched down, giving Meatball pats and scratches. Kissing his head, she gave him a few more scratches, standing up with a smile before continuing her way to the hard stand. Stopping to Jeffrey’s left, she gave him a look. “I’m guessing the French aren’t happy with a female pilot?”
“Unfortunately, they will probably make a fuss so pick someone to be your co-pilot, at least.” Jeffrey gave her a look. “We don’t want to cause trouble, especially when it could come back on you and Buck.”
Addie groaned but nodded. “I want Charlie to come with me - can you spare him for a few hours?”
“The boys will be glad to have the morning off. Does he know you want him to tag along?” Jeffrey asked, as she started doing her preflight checks on the B-17 in front of her “Mike”.
“Josie was going to grab him as I gathered my stuff.” She smirked. “She may or may not have told him what she needed him for. I’ll make sure he’s aware before we take off.”
Jeffrey laughed, shaking his head. “You know, I shouldn’t let siblings fly together but hell, you two would probably take off regardless of what I say.”
“That may or may not happen, but you’re probably right.” She smirked, watching Josie and Charlie make their way to the hard stand. “About time you got here.”
Charlie gave her a look. “All Josie told me is that you’re flying to Paris and might need a co-pilot.”
Addie smirked at Jeffrey’s. “See he’s all caught up - can we head out now?”
“Go for it - make sure he knows what’s going on before you touch down in Paris.” Jeffrey gave the two of them a look. “Remember, no more than an hour on the ground.”
Addie and Charlie both saluted before they made their way into the B-17 to finish pre-flight checks. Addie took the pilot’s seat, leaving the co-pilot’s seat to her brother. Final checks were quickly done before Addie radioed the tower for take-off instructions.
Soon, the B-17 was airbound, Addie grinning at her brother. “So why are we heading to Paris?”
“Buck escaped on a night march and ended up in Paris. We’re going to pick him up and bring him home.” Addie sighed, running a hand through her hair.
Charlie looked over at his sister, that sigh was a bit heavy. “You doing okay?”
“Glad Buck made the escape but sad John and Elizabeth are still POWs.” She grimaced. “Just wish it was them that we were going to pick up too. It’s been too damn long since I’ve seen him - almost a year and a half.”
Charlie nodded, not even attempting to comprehend what his sister was feeling. “I wish I could tell you the war is almost over but only the damn Germans know that. But it has to be coming to an end eventually.”
“We can only hope.” She whispered, watching the landscape change as they flew over the channel into French soil.
Charlie stayed quiet, obeying Addie’s commands as she kept an eye on their altitude and distance. “We’re nearing Paris - can you radio into the tower for landing instructions?”
She heard Charlie call over, asking for the instructions, which were quickly relayed back to them. Before long, the wheels were down and the plane landed with a gentle bump. Taxiing down the runway, she guided the plane onto a hard stand, nearest to the huts. Turning off the engines, she radioed the tower, letting them know who they were there to pick up. The tower radioed back that a jeep would be out there soon with the man.
“You staying up here or coming out?” Addie asked, unbuckling with a big grin on her face.
Charlie shook his head. “You go greet him. I’ll stay up here and let you bombard him.”
With a mock salute, she made her way through the belly before swinging out. Dropping out of the hatch, she caught her balance before watching a jeep make its way from one of the huts onto the runway. Tears welled up in her eyes as she watched it come closer to her. Eighteen months without one of her best friends and suddenly, he was mere feet away from her.
The jeep’s brakes squealed as it came to a stop, but Addie didn’t mind that. Her eyes had landed on Buck Cleven - a sight for sore eyes. “Gale Cleven!”
His head snapped up hearing his voice, looking up to see a crying, grinning Addie standing near the plane. Hopping out of the jeep, he quickly thanked his driver before making his way over to the plane. He quickly pulled Addie into a strong hug, tears flowing from both of their eyes. “You’re a sight for sore eyes, Addie.”
“So are you, Buck.” She hugged him back tightly. “Almost, welcome home. It’s good to see you.”
Buck sighed. “It’s weird to be back. I’m sorry Bucky wasn’t able to make the run with me.”
“He okay?” She asked, running her pointer finger under her cheeks, attempting to catch the tears that had fallen.
Buck pulled back, looking at his best friend’s girl. “He was the last one, insisting I go first. A German soldier caught him, just as he was about to make the run. He yelled at me to go, leaving him behind. God, Addie, I wish it was him standing here instead of me.”
“He would say the same thing, if he was standing here.” She gave him a long look. “I’m glad you are safe and sound, Buck. Ready to head back to Thorpe?”
He sighed, a sad smile on his face. “I guess you’re my pilot home?”
“You guessed right - so much for never flying with me again.” She teased, giggling, watching Buck’s eyes go wide. “It’s a big bird so I can’t barrel roll it. Besides, Charlie is up in the yolk so he’ll keep me on the straight and narrow.”
Buck laughed, shaking his head. “Thank goodness for Charlie keeping you in line.”
“Hey, Addie?” Pausing, she heard the hesitation in his voice. Turning, she gave him a look as he held a piece of paper out to her. “From John. He gave it to me when we first started marching, just in case something happened, or he wasn’t able to escape with us. He wanted me to have something to give to you.”
A few more tears fell, as she accepted the paper. Tucking it into John’s jacket, she smiled. “Thank you, Buck. Let’s get you home.”
She motioned him to go up as she walked around the plane, inspecting it for pre-flight checks. Before long she was in the belly of the plane, hearing Charlie and Buck talk. “Do you two want to fly us home? I’m perfectly fine being a passenger princess.”
“Addie, get your butt up here. Buck and I were just catching up.” Charlie called back as she made her way up to the cockpit. “Buck, where are you going to hang out?”
“Navigator’s desk. Never been down here during a flight.” Buck replied as Addie snickered.
Charlie gave his sister a look. “Buck’s been a pilot since day one. When would he have been down in the nose?”
“She’s not wrong.” Buck chuckled as Addie started up the engines.
Before long they were airborne, Buck asking questions about the base and what life had been like since they were away. “Wait, Buck, how’s Elizabeth doing? Did she attempt the run with you?”
“We tried to get her to run with us but there's a few men she was looking after that had pretty serious injuries. She refused to leave them.” She could hear the grin in the Major’s voice.
“Gale, what aren’t you telling us?” Addie asked, eyes scanning the horizon as she attempted to pull the details from one of her best friends.
Buck laughed. “It’s all good - I promise. We don’t know much but pretty sure your sister is sweet on Brady. Those two were thick as thieves in the stalag and they spent a lot of time together.”
“Brady, huh? Didn’t see that one coming.” Addie mused. “How was she otherwise?”
Buck sighed. “Much like you, Addie, always positive and happy go lucky. Rarely did I not see a smile on her face. She always brightened our spirits and checked in on us daily. Most of the guys wouldn’t have made it through that ordeal without her.”
Sighing, she shook her head. “Well, we’re happy you’re back Buck. There may be a welcoming crew waiting for you on the tarmac when we return.”
“What did you do, Addie?”
Feigning innocence, Addie chuckled. “I didn’t do a thing, Buck.”
“Don’t let her fool you, she wouldn’t stop telling people you were coming home. And she only had an hour between when she found out and when we flew out.” Charlie chuckled.
Addie smacked her brother’s shoulder, chuckling. “It’s the returning of men that makes this whole idea of war worth it. Don’t fault me for being excited that after 18 months, Buck is back with us, safe and sound.”
She paused, knowing she would have to ask about one other man, just for the sake of her friend. “Buck, how’s DeMarco? You know he’s been writing to Josie but if anything happened to him, can you tell me?”
“DeMarco is fine, Addie or at least he was when I left. He was with Alex and Macon when I left. I know they were planning their own escape but I don’t know if they even attempted.” Buck replied back with a wearily sigh.
Nodding, there wasn’t anything else she could say. Looking over at Charlie, she smiled sadly. “Can you radio to the tower for landing instructions?”
Soon enough, they were on the ground, pulling the B-17 onto a hard stand, shutting off the engine. “Go on Buck, it’s you they want to see, not us.”
“I highly doubt that, Addie.” Buck laughed but she heard the hatch open as she completed her landing checklist.
Soon, she made her way out of the plane to see Buck surrounded by men as they welcomed him back. Charlie dropped down beside her with a chuckle. “Good to see him back on base.”
“You don’t know how good, Charlie.” She sighed. “Gives me hope for John and Elizabeth to return.”
2030 Hours
Leaving the Officer’s Club, with Meatball by her side, she felt the crinkle of the paper in her coat pocket. In all the excitement, she had forgotten the letter that Buck had given her before they returned to England.
Making her way onto the tarmac and the lone fort that was sitting there, she stumbled on the uneven terrain before collapsing against the wheel. It was still light enough that she could make out the messy handwriting on the paper in front of her. Meatball laid down beside her, his head on her lap, sighing as she felt him relax.
My darling Adelaide,
If you’re reading this, that means Buck made the escape and he’s back in Thorpe by your side. I’m sorry, darling, I didn’t make the escape with Buck. But I’m happy he’s safe and back with you.
Addie, take care of yourself, please? Tell me something funny - I cannot wait to hear all the stories that you couldn’t put into writing. We have a lot of catching up to do when I get back - you’ll probably talk my ear off with all the news. And honestly, I cannot wait. Spending time in our field, just the two of us, catching up sounds like a pretty good way to spend a few hours.
I’m not sure where we are but the men are safe and sound. We march for about 8 hours a day. Rest before doing night marches. I think the Germans want to stay ahead of the Allies so night marches are more common than we want them to be. We’re being gunned down by our own forces.
I hope the ending is near. And if that’s the case, I cannot wait to be back in your arms. Counting down the days until I get to see you again.
Love you always and forever,
John
Leaning against the wheel, she sighed, tucking the paper back into her jacket. Carting her hand through Meatball’s fur, trying to calm herself down. Closing her eyes, she let her head fall against the wheel. Her heart hurt for Bucky - he lost his best friend when Buck successfully got out, leaving him behind. Addie knew how close the two were but for Bucky to be left behind, trying to be a leader for his men, despite the unknown. She couldn’t imagine how much he was hurting and scared. Despite not making the run with Buck, he attempted to be upbeat in his letter to her. How much of a brave face had he put on for the men while he was scared himself? She wishes she could just wrap him up in her arms and hug him close.
Soon, she vowed. Soon they would be reunited and she wouldn’t let him out of her sights any time soon.
Hearing footsteps on the tarmac caused her to open her eyes. She pushed a smile forward as Meatball pushed off her to go greet the man walking closer to her. Watching the dog and man walk closer to her, she pushed herself to her feet. “Thought I’d find you out here - could never get too far away from the Big Birds, huh, Addie?”
“Nothing’s changed, Buck.” She grinned as he shook his head, sighing.
“Everything’s changed, Addie.” He gave her a look, scratching his jaw.
Nodding, she bit her lip, scanning his face for any distress or worry. “As much as I wish it didn’t, time keeps moving on. How are you, Buck? Truly.”
“It’s weird being back - everything about me has changed. But yet the base is the same, or at least looks the same.” He scanned the area surrounding them. “But part of me feels left behind, I should still be with Bucky and the boys.”
Addie’s heart broke for him. “Buck, you know as well as I do that Bucky would have wanted you here, where you’re supposed to be. I’m sure it was hard to leave him behind but you got out. Now, talk to me - about anything or nothing in particular, but you have that look on your face that you need to talk.”
“If we’re going to talk, then we need to be somewhere warm and sitting down.” Buck gave her a look, smiling slightly.
Addie chuckled. “Luckily, I know just the place and we won’t be interrupted. C’mon.”
Throwing an arm around his waist, Buck threw his arm around her shoulder, tugging her close. The two, with Meatball trailing behind them, walked over to the mess hut. Just as Addie predicted, it was quiet when she threw open the door and motioned him to go in. They found a table near the back before settling in.
Smiling at the waiter, Addie quietly asked for two mugs of coffee, which were quickly deposited on the table as Addie gave Buck a look. “It’s just me and you - whatever you want to talk about.”
“Did Lemmons tell you anything about the day that DeMarco and I went down?” Buck started, taking a sip of coffee.
Nodding, Addie cupped her hands around the mug. “John and I weren’t talking after we returned from London. He wasn’t speaking to me, focused on going up and avenging you going down. Lemmons found us asleep in John’s fort and pulled me aside to tell me it was a magneto issue and that he had to ride the wheel to fix it. He needed reassurance that wasn’t the reason you went down.”
“I spoke with him this afternoon and made sure he knew it wasn’t. It was the damn flak that blew two engines and we went down. I ended up with a pitchfork to my neck as a farmer wasn’t too keen that I flew in through his backdoor.” Buck explained with a laugh.
He went on to talk about being picked up by the Germans and the interrogation that followed. “He knew almost everything about me - as if he was reading my personnel file. He knew about Bucky and your name was brought up too. I had to remind myself to keep my anger in check. After I kept repeating my name, rank, and serial number, they soon got tired of me and threw me back in my cell. Woke us up in the middle of the night and marched us to the Stalag. I was the first of the boys to show up. Few days later, DeMarco shows up along with a few of the other boys. About a week after that, John shows up with a busted eye and ribs. Never have I been so relieved to see him, despite wishing he was far, far away from that place. We were separated for four months before they threw me into his bunk with the rest of the boys.”
Taking a deep breath, he sighed, taking another sip of coffee. “It was about 6 months after that when Elizabeth showed up to camp. I had seen her come into camp and told Bucky. At first he thought it was you that we were talking about until I mentioned that it was Elizabeth. We all took her under our wing and made sure she was okay. Her and Bucky immediately got along - almost a bit too well. Within an hour of her being in the bunk, she slugged him for proposing to you in a letter.”
Addie smiled sadly. “As much as it hurt for you all to be away, I was glad you all had one another, instead of being alone.”
“You weren’t far from our thoughts at any time.” Buck whispered. “Your letters kept us and the other guys going. With not a lot to keep us occupied, we looked forward to mail day - always loved hearing about the coming and going of the base, including what Meatball was up to.”
She chuckled. “I always hated getting your letters as much of it would be crossed out by the sensors - always had to attempt to piece together what you all were talking about. I still don’t know what much of it means but as long as the letters kept coming, I didn’t care. That meant you all were safe.”
Reaching over, Buck grabbed her hand, giving it a squeeze. “I can’t thank you enough for writing Marge - that meant more to me than you’ll ever know, Addie.”
“I figured I was one of a handful of people who knew what she was feeling.” Addie squeezed his hand back. “We’re friends now so there’s no hope for you or John. She’s a sweetheart and she’s lucky to have you, Gale. Did you get the chance to send her a telegram?”
Shaking his head, Buck sighed. “Not yet. I’ll do that tomorrow morning. What should I tell her?”
“That you’re safe and back at Thorpe’s. That’s all she’s been waiting to hear.” Addie bit her lip. “That’s all we’ve been waiting to hear for 18 months, Buck. Maybe, tell her you love her too, that might be a good thing too.”
Buck laughed. “Thank you, Addie.”
“For what?”
“For keeping the hope alive that we’d make it. For writing to us, Marge. For coming to pick me up.” Buck raised an eyebrow. “For everything.”
Sighing, she ran a hand through her hair. “It was what kept me going. Knowing that I need to keep you updated on everything going on here, well as much as I could tell you. Now we just need to wait for Elizabeth and John to come home, then all will be right in the world.”
Pushing back from the table, a yawn escaped his mouth. She stood, slapping her thigh to gain Meatball’s attention. “Oh, one more thing that Bucky made me promise to tell you.”
She stopped, raising an eyebrow at him. “He told me that he can’t wait to see you in a white dress. He also told me to give you a giant hug from him.”
And with that, he tugged her into a hug, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, with a gentle squeeze. “He’ll be back soon, Addie, and all this crap would have been worth it.”
“Holding you to that, Buck.” She smiled, her heart somewhat lighter with his words and hug.

𑁍 masterlist 𑁍
Your eyes fluttered open to the sight of delicate snow falling down on the terrace. A smile quickly appeared on your lips, pushing against the bed as you stretch your chest and neck. As you take a deep breath, your hand reached over to the other side of the bed but only grasped the sheets.
You furrowed your eyebrow, then looked at that side of the bed, only seeing the messy and wrinkled down sheet and the full blanket on the floor.
After making up your shared queen bed, you put on your slippers and robe before heading down the hall. Usually, in the morning, you checked on the baby first, but you froze when you saw her curled up in Tom's arms.
"What are you doing up?" You giggled, walking over to his side. You nuzzled your face behind his shoulder as the two of you glanced down at your precious girl, Mia.
"I woke up early and she was crying so, I picked her up and have been scared to put her back down." Tom lowly spoke, rubbing Mia's back as he turned to you and placed a soft kiss on your temple.
"Merry Christmas." You grinned.
"Merry Christmas, babe." He replied, pulling you close to him.
You pouted, "It's like yesterday she was so tiny."
"As if she's not now?" Tom jeered, running his hand over the top of her hair, "She's like the world's smallest thing."
"And it's her first Christmas today. Can you believe it?" You sighed, walking around to the closet. You had already laid out her red overalls and a small white shirt.
You heard Mia babble as she stretched out her arms and legs in Tom's hold, watching her squirm a bit before she opened her small eyes. Tom couldn't help but smile, tickling her tummy and then holding her face.
"Did you already change her diaper?" You asked, walking back with her outfit.
""Fresh and clean. Surprisingly not as bad as I thought it would be after we fed her peas and squash last night." He said as he laid her down on the changing table.
"Well at least she finally likes something that not just bananas." You joked, giving him the overalls and shirt before unbuttoning her onesie.
"She gets her pickiness from you." He chuckled.
You smirked, "Well, she knows what she wants."
♡ ♡ ♡
When you both came downstairs, carefully holding Mia to your chest, the Christmas tree was beautifully lit and shining bright with presents wrapped around the bottom. You were in awe of it, already overwhelmed by how Christmas has come so fast.
"Did you add some presents last night?" You asked him as the two of headed toward the couch.
""I didn't want to admit how overboard I went with baby stuff."
"She's not even a year old and already has so much. You're just trying to make her a daddy's girl, aren't you?" You teased.
"No problem with a head start now."
You rolled your eyes, but Mia was on your hip, reaching her arms out when her eyes glimmered at the shiny paper of the presents.
"See," Tom pointed out, "She's already loving me." He smiled, quickly kissing Mia's cheek. It made you so flustered the way he was so affectionate with her, wanting to be involved no matter what occasion.
"Okay, start handing out presents Santa. We got a lot to get through this morning." You said as you carefully sat on the couch with Mia propped up on your lap.
Tom leaned down, reaching behind the tree to grab the first present. You tried to look around him, but then saw the biggest, softest brown teddy bear in his arms.
"I wonder who this is for." He smiled, "I know it wasn't on my list."
You laughed, pointing to the bear as Mia reached out her hands again, "Look at that, Mia. That's all for you."
As Tom sat the bear next to you, Mia's hand grabbed its fluffy nose and pulled it toward her with the little strength she had.
"With that muscle, she'll be bench pressing this." You jeered, making sure she didn't hurt herself.
Tom pulled another present, pretty small but quaint, "Here's for mom." He trailed, kneeling on both knees in front of you.
You pouted, "Oh, you're so great. It's like we have a baby together or something." You sarcastically said before scrunching your nose.
You unwrapped it, pulling off the paper and Mia tried to reach for the shreds as you threw it away. A velvet box revealed itself from the paper and you opened it, stunned to see a beautiful gold bracelet.
As you admired the band further, the three of your names were engraved in it. Your heart melted at the moment, looking in awe at it before Tom offered to put it on your wrist.
The two of you got lost in each other's eyes, adoring one another even more at this moment.
"I love you so much." He whispered, rubbing your knee.
"I love you so much too." You giggled as you tried to hold back tears, but Mia held your bracelet and tried to bring it to her mouth.
"No, no, Mia. Not in your mouth." Tom chuckled, "I actually have a present that's for that."
You smiled, "Maybe she wants one too."
Tom sort out the rest of the presents and you held Mia closer to you, seeing her brighten up when Tom opened her presents for her. She was young, but you knew she was loving it. You hoped that subconsciously she would remember moments like this and the shared warm feelings between the three of you.

Your 20's the adult "teenage" years:-
Greetings, as of today in few hours a new year will begin and 2024 the year of dragon 🐉will start, before a new year begins I had few things in my mind that I'd like to talk about.
I have been in my 20's for quiet a while now and I always see huge rave about when you turn 25 a switch in your brain flicks and you see everything differently because 25 is the age when you fully develop your brain... But why does no one talk about the stages that lead up to you being 25?
When I turned 20 life felt so breezy and laid back, I was ready for a new journey and everything seemed so pretty but 21 felt so unhinged, obsolete and scarring plus years after that weren't so pretty either.
I don't know what is wrong with me. I can be having the most normal and fun time but then all of sudden I feel like crying and my heart feels so heavy it might just spill out of my chest... I was hanging out with friends in my early 20's it was one of the most fun I ever had but as soon as I got home, I collapsed on the floor and started crying. I didn't know why I was crying or what happened but I just sat there and cried, I had such good friend circle and great family yet why was I crying? Why was I not happy? I felt so weird but tears wouldn't stop at all. That day I still remember I curled up in my bed and slept with a headache that came with crying a lot.
I fear so many things and one of them is never being able to do things ALL the things I love. I have always had a great and long list of occupations I wanted ro do before I die, I always knew want I wanted and how I wanted my life to be and when moving to another country was not in the option I cried and gave up, during that part of my 20's I never listened to encourage words because it felt like nothing could compare with my dreams, I was told I can still study in any European country but it wasn't about different country, it was about how for the first time in my life I had such a huge set back. My eyes we're locked in this one particular country and when I failed to make it there I lost hope. I didn't eat for days, I cried for 5 months straight, I never received sunlight so I had to live off of vitamin D supplements, my hair was falling down due to stress and no vitamin D, I broke ties with all of my friends and relatives, I only talked to my parents. I had no voice I was an insecure pathetic girl.
I always longed to be perfect, I think I might be slowly dying of having a blue heavy heart, I want to be the best but I also want to be unpolished and messy.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2024, year of the dragon 🐉 please Chang E bless us with your infinite hope <3 💕✨ om mane pame om.

Not Everything Has Changed
Bernard x trans!reader - mlm
ah- so this is my first Bernard x reader!! i hope you all enjoy. i wanted to say how this could take place in 90s-2000s but its definitely more of a modern kinda au as it has progress trans ideas (Character is on T)
summary - The reader hasn't visited the North Pole since the fateful Christmas his dad became Santa. Turns out coming home for the holidays is easy to do, even with unspoken feelings, if it means coming home to Bernard.
enjoy!! merry bernard season!! I hope this man never finds this.
Scott Calvin, the man you called your dad and the rest of world calls Santa, has been delivering presents to kids all over the world for about 3 years now. 3 years ago Charlie woke you up from your bed cause he heard clattering on the roof, 3 years ago you found yourself freaking out about how you killed Santa, and 3 years ago you found your tripping over your feet as your father fought with the north poles head elf about how he wasn't Santa. A lot has changed in 3 years. Scott moved to the north pole for good, still being allowed visitation rights. Neil and Scott had grown to respect each other, he comes for dinner on thanksgiving each year. Your dad and mom have to bribe your little brother Charlie to not fuss about how he cant just skip school all December to stay in the North Pole.
However the biggest change was how your once bittersweet family grew into a warm and loving one, though it certainly did help. 3 years ago, you were a scared 17 year old who had the wrong name. you had the wrong face and hair, you weren't yourself. Now, you were closer than before. 2 years ago you had come out to your family about being trans and they welcomed you with loving arms as their son. It was a new playing field for everyone and it was easy forever at first, it still isn't; However, everyone tries their best and that's all you could ever ask for. Neil helped with it a lot, you respected him a lot more after he helped explain to everyone what you felt. Neil works with a lot of trans youth and when you came out, he was a great comfort. Scott had a hard time with it, not cause he didn't believe in it or didn't like it but because you never hold him. You're dad and you had always been close, so it hurt him that you didn't tell him first thing when you found out. You were young though, didn't know who to say it.
You were 19 now, Charlie had just turned 11. It was hard for him when you went away for college, you moved out of state and hadn't come back for Christmas the first year cause of a horrible blizzard. Charlie was better now, especially when he found out how you were coming home for a whole basically 2 months. College had eased up and you hadn't been home in awhile, so you decided that talking to your teachers getting about lecture notes ahead of time and taking your midterms early was the best idea.
You had come home the Friday before thanksgiving, tired and jet lagged from the long red eye you took home. Yet when you saw Charlie running down your mom's stairs hug you, ever ounce of energy came back. You spent that first few days before thanksgiving doing Charlie's favorite things and when thanksgiving rolled around, Charlie was still buzzing with energy.
"Dad- Dad! We'll have to show Y/N the new invention's added to the sleigh! And the- the new ice skating rink!" Bouncing up and down in his sit, Charlie explained all the new things that had been added to the North Pole since the last time you had been there.
"Y/N! It's so cool! We have a new ice skating rink that circles like the whole village!" Charlie went on, leaving his turkey untouched as you listened intently. Even if none else was listening cause they were to busy talking about the ending football season, you were there to listen all of Charlie's new favorite places and things about the North Pole. Plus you really did love ice skating, so you didn't mind his excitement.
"Really? all around the North Pole?" You asked intently before going to grab your drink.
"No- not the whole North Pole! The North Pole is huge! Just Christmas Town!" Charlie corrected you, still bouncing up and down with excitement. Laura, Neil, and Scott had previously decided that Charlie and you could leave thanksgiving night with your dad- as long as Charlie had good grades, which he did, and did his work at the North Pole.
It felt weird going back to the North Pole, you had been a completely different person when you first touched down in the workshop. You weren't too worried though, you had Charlie. When you came out to Charlie he didn't really understand right away. Overtime though Charlie saw you as his brother who he loved with all his heart, and you loved him just as much.
"Alright!" Scott barked from the living room before rolling into the kitchen where you and Charlie had been, his hand on his lower back as if he had just finished stretching. It had taken time getting used to seeing your dad with bright white locks and a matching bread, he cheeks rosier from the cold weather he had grown to love, but your dad was happier now than ever. Wouldn't be to good if Santa Claus was jolly.
"Who is ready to head up North?" Scott asked with wide grin that only caused Charlie to jump out of his chair and run to grab his coat, happiness radiating off of him.
"He hasn't changed one bit." you hummed. It wasn't a bad thing. No, it wasn't a bad thing at all. You were glad Charlie never lost his love for the Holidays, the love for Santa.
"No, no he hasn't!" Your dad smiled down at you before letting out a breath of contentment, "Y'know, you haven't changed at all either, Y/N." You looked to him with a knowing smile. Scott always got you and you always got him, like father like son.
"You know who hasn't changed at all either?" You threw your dad a cocky grin.
"Who?"
"Neil!" You exclaimed causing your father to crack up, "No! No! Literally, that is the same sweater he wore last Thanksgivings! I truly believe he hasn't taken it off since then!" Scott shook his head in laughter as you went on. Neil and hideously great sweater's was a family joke that just never got old, one that had grown from something so laced with venom into a warm hug- Much like your family itself.
eventually, with bags loaded in your dads sleigh and goodbyes all in order, you were all on your way. The cold night air blowing through your hair as you flew. The air ,which only got colder and colder, couldn't compete with the warm glass of Judy's famous hot cocoa. The nerves that once run off with the help of your father's loud, jolly laughter, came back as the sound of Christmas songs grew older and the smell of warm cookies filled the air. You didn't know why you were so scared. It wasn't like everyone had forgotten about you, Scott talked about Charlie and you every chance he got! You just didn't know how everyone would react to the new you. When the sleigh finally landed and slowly descended into the hidden world of Christmas, Charlie grabbed your hand to comfort you.
Turning to him, your weak smile was met by his genuine one. His knowing eyes told you that you were gonna be okay. Soon the cheers of elves flooded your ears and the warm scent of cookies and peppermint helped Charlie comfort you. A chorus of 'welcome home's greeted you as Charlie pulled you out of the sleigh. A smile greeted your face as Judy walked towards you, three hot chocolates in hand.
"It was colder than usual tonight, I hope the weather wasn't too bad though!" Judy stated as you took 2 of the hot mugs off her hands, giving one to Charlie.
You hummed softly as the warmth engulfed from the Christmas colored mug you, "It was too cold, just cold enough! The perfect amount." You replied before taking a long sip from the mug.
"Good, I was worried about you and weather!" Judy smiled brightly at you, "You haven't been here in so long, I was unsure how you'd take to the cold again!" "
Oh...yeah I hadn't even thought about that..." It was strange how it never accrued to you, "I guess living in Illinois and then moving to New York for school will set you up for worst of colds."
Judy and you had grown close your first Christmas here. Where Charlie was helping out Bernard with ways to keep your dad safe, you were baking and brewing with Judy. She told you all about the North Pole and the girl she was dating in wrapping. You answered all her questions about high school and told her about the things you and your friends do for fun. She scoffed at how fun you made summer break out to be, saying how ‘no one could have fun in 100 degree heat!’ and she wasn’t completely wrong, so you laughed it off and told her about the lake house Neil’s family owns. Even after that Christmas, you visited her and when you could visit her, you wrote to her.
Judy went to speak, but was cut off my the sound of your little brother calling out the familiar name of a certain elf. The commotion cause Judy and you to turn to the direction your brother had run off too, and ,low n' behold, Bernard was walking towards him with a warm, welcoming smile.
Bernard hadn't changed much since the last time you saw him. He still wore warm, Christmas colored sweaters and the same beret as 3 years ago. His once braid hair was let down in tight, neat curls that framed his face rather nicely. Bernard looked as if he had grown am an inch and his face had sharpened up, much like yours. He looked liked a proper young adult, just around your age, and not like a grumpy teen. It made you think about how old he really was, especially in compression to the other elves. One thing that hadn't changed was how handsome he was. Looking at him now, even at a distance, you could tell he had only gotten more gorgeous. You must have let your thoughts show a little too much as Judy had let out a soft chuckle which drawn your attention away from Bernard and back to her. "You're a little red!" She smirked softly cause you to roll your eyes playfully. You knew she wasn't someone you could trick into think you didn't have a crush on the head elf, so you confined in her. You threw Judy a joking wink as you explained how you were just "cold" cause her to roll her eyes back at you.
"What! I am! It's cold here, even for a cold weather lover such as myself!" Jokingly, you scrunched your nose showing her how you were trying to warm your face back up. As Judy and you laughed at your silly gesture, the two of you were blissfully unaware by the growing presence of your brother and Bernard. It was only until Charlie called your name that made Judy and you snap back to reality. Your eyes meet Bernard's, and warmth definitely rushes back into your face.
"Y/N, you remember Bernard right?" Charlie asked unaware to how much you thought about the elf in question. It was probably unhealthy how much you lay awake at night wondering if Bernard ever thought about you or even remembered you outside of just his boss's kid! You weren't like Charlie, who had visited the North pole as much as he could! However, you would also admit to yourself how the though of Bernard not remembering you hurt.
"Of course I do, Char..." You respond affectionately to your brother, not taking your eyes off of Bernard. Bernard smiles at you and you feel like you're about to melt. Cause when did it get so hot in here? And why were Bernard's so dreamy? It truly wasn't fair how handsome he was.
“Hey, Y/N.."
And god he knows your name, your real name, and it feels so good to hear him call you that and you definitely shouldn't be this whipped over an elf who works for dad. You know it would never work. Firstly, cause Bernard would never think about you the way you think of him. Then secondly, causes he works for your dad! Even if in your wildest dreams come true and Bernard liked you back, your dad would never allow that! So, you swallowed your sorrow and smiled.
"Hey, Bernard....Uh long time, no see?" Your words felt heavy and unsure as the fell from your lips, but Bernard didn't stop smiling at you- that made you feel a lot better about yourself.
"Y-yeah, it has. Your dad told me how about everything, but I didn't know what to expect!" You watched his eyes glace up and down your frame, taking you in. His hands, which once were effortlessly placed on his waist, were now folded into his body as his arms crossed at his chest. He looked back at you, swaying back a bit before realizing that what he said. "No, wait! I didn't mean that in a negative way! You look good, really good!"
You could tell he also didn't know realize what said right then till after the words left his lips, his cheeks hard grown dark and his eyes widened when he finally processed his own words. You didn't wanna get your hopes up, but you had never seen him this uncollected and unsure of himself and it definitely made you think. No- Bernard didn't like you. He couldn't. Bernard just was expecting you to have changed so much, and you got that! Within 2 years you had cut hair, changed your name, started testosterone, and changed up your style completely. You looked like a completely different person.
"You're fine, Bernard! I knew what you meant! I've changed a lot!" You scoffed playfully, a smile spread across your face.
"Bernard is right though!" Judy's excited words grabbed not just your attention, but your Brother's and Bernard's. "You look really good, a lot happy and more like yourself! Plus you've really grown into your looks..." Judy's gaze turned from you and to Bernard, the smile the once graced her face turned into a smirk. "...hasn't he, Bernard?"
And just like that, Bernard was bright red in the face. You're skin felt hot under the fluorescent lighting of the workshop. You're hands, which once awkwardly stood on either side of your body, eased into the pockets of your warm leathery jacket. Judy rolled her eyes at how obvious the two of you were. Charlie stood beside Bernard with a confused frown. Sure he was older now, but 11 was still so young and Charlie hadn't really talked about liking anyone yet. Bernard eyes, which unbeknownst to you, had wondered off to glare at Judy while you were focused on Charlie. He was only met with a playfully confused looked, as if she didn't know what she had just said!
"Y'know what! Why don't we get you two to your rooms?" Bernard chirped, his normal flush returning back to him. You hadn't really realized how late it was and sleep had felt like a foreign thought to you. With all your papers, work, and friends, sleep often escaped your mind. There was only so much you could do in one day, and sleep was the last thing a college student could do.
“How does that sound, Charlie? I’m gonna go ahead and take him-” Before Bernard could finished, Judy had grabbed your brother’s hand and pulled him towards her.
“Actually, I have a few hot cocoa related questions I’d like to get his answers on! Why don’t you take Y/N to his room?” Judy was skating on thin, thin ice and she knew it. With pleading eyes, wordlessly begging for Judy to ask you any and all of her cocoa related questions.
But before you, or Bernard, could speak out, Charlie and Judy were off to her bakery. In a rather petty way, you felt betrayed by your elven friend. You knew she had no ill intent behind her actions and you knew you could never truly be mad at her, but that didn’t stop you from feeling stranded in a snow storm of loud, awkward silence. Normally talking to people came easy to you, but Bernard was like everyone else and everything you tried to say got lost in your throat. You wanted to run. To just say ‘Hey, it’s okay I remember my way around here. You have things to do!’, even if it was a flat lie; You decided that sleeping in the sleigh would be easier than talking to Bernard.
“So…I can show you to your room,” Thankfully Bernard spoke up first. You dragged your eyes away from the direction your brother had run off to and met Bernard’s. He, surprising, wore a warm smile and his eyes weren’t filled with pure anxiety. His body was relaxed or as relaxed as you could get with Bernard. His arms had fallen from his chest, his fingers now played with each other around waist. You softened at the sight. Something about the way he looked in this light- or maybe it was the way he seemed so small, it made every ounce of anxiety your body had vibrated with completely disappear.
“Yeah, that sounds nice.”
As Bernard guided you out of the workshop, the chatter filled the air as elves worked on toys and it made you remember the first time you walked through these halls.
“I remember the first time I was here and my dad kept on calling anything but Bernard. I remember how nervous I was…like if I said or touched anything, the whole place would just disappear…” You tried to hide the anxiety laced within your voice, but it still peeked through. Your eyes scanned around the workshop. Bernard, who walked by your side, looked to you with something you couldn’t quite place. You could tell it was soft, but you couldn’t bring yourself to meet his eyes to find out what it really was.
“You haven’t been back since…” Bernard’s soft voice caught you off guard. You weren’t expecting him sound so…almost hurt. It made you weak, your knees suddenly felt like jello and every step was like walking on eggshells as you left the
“I’ve just been so busy with school.” It was the truth. Once you graduated Highschool and moved away, home felt so far away…and the North Pole even farther. You meant to tag along last Christmas, but time had a funny way of catching up to you. Just like the mound projects you had due by the end of fall semester. “I missed it up here.”
“I missed you- We missed you.” Nothing anyone could never say would make you grin harder than Bernard saying how he missed you.
“No, no, no.” You halted to a stop causing Bernard to follow in suit. You turned to him, it was quiet and the realization that the two of you were alone in the hall sunk in. “You missed me?” your voice was weak, not sure if you wanted to press any further.
A red flush creeped onto Bernard’s face. He looked away in embarrassment, “I really wished you’d let that slide…” he wished to himself, barely loud enough for you to hear.
“I don’t know…if I want…to let it slide…” The words, just as soft as his, hesitantly left your lips like sap seeping from a tree. The words hung in the air, stubborn and unmoving, as the Bernard’s warm eyes met yours. you both knew that if you chose not to press further into the meaning of your honey filled words, that you would be missing out on each other.
“I…I was hoping you wouldn’t let it slide.” Bernard felt greedy for wanting to push further, you did too. He was the right to your father after all, it felt wrong…yet something about it fit. Something about it made sense.
“Really?” You smirked softly, his words giving you a new found confidence. “Cause I was under the impression,” you swayed back, shoving your hands in the pockets of your jacket. “That you did? Or did you not mean what said? I think that moves you to naughty list!” Your smirked spread into a dopey grin.
“Oh my…Y’know elves aren’t actually on the list, we’re above it.” Bernard jested back, wearing a grin almost as dopey as yours.
“Above it? Now that definitely moved you to the naughty list!” You both laughed, content in the world the two of you had made. Bernard smiled lovingly at you, his tired eyes soft at the sight of you.
“You haven’t changed.” His words hit bluntly as he moved closer to you. You watched as his hands reached up towards your face. His hands, calloused from work, felt strange on the soft of your cheeks, but it also felt like home.
“You haven’t either…you're still grumpy and overworked, but still some how practically prefect in every way…” If Bernard’s smile could grow anymore at your words, it would. He was beaming, and his beaming because of you. It made you melt, you felt like putty in his hands- like if his hands left your face you’d just melt away like snow on a warm spring day.
“You’re still stupid…” You knew Bernard’s words were nothing but affectionate. The gap between the two of you slowly disappeared, your lips met his. You’d like to believe that time had stopped in that very moment, but the racing of your heart told you otherwise. No matter how hard your heart pounded in your chest, you only found yourself truly focusing on how soft his lips felt against yours…and now perfectly you melted together.
It’s safe to say that Bernard had followed you to your room, where the two of you melted into the safety of your bed. Neither one of you wanted to get up that following morning, both were to content in holding each other.

FNAF SB: A Christmas Date
Summary: Takes place in the Glitched Twilight storyline several chapters in. It’s Christmas Eve and you are forced to work a full shift even though the Pizzaplex closes an hour earlier that day. The DCA has been planning something for this special night. There’s Nutcracker costumes, gifts, playful banter, a surprise and… a kiss?
Word Count: 5664 (14 pages)
Merry (late) Christmas!
It had been a long week and you were exhausted, the holidays were always draining but it was even worse when you worked at the most popular pizzeria in town. One that families visited when their kids were off school the week before and after Christmas. Hectic and crazy was an understatement for the chaos you endured as the only engineer for the animatronics in the building. Things were constantly being thrown at the staff bots, of course, the amount of glitter from the seasonal toys and decorations that covered the place was insane. You could go home and shower 3 times and STILL find it in your hair or on your clothes. But it was Christmas Eve and the place had closed an hour early so you at least didn’t have to deal with people for the last little while of your shift. As per usual of Fazbear Entertainment management, you don’t get to end your shift early. You were still required to be on the clock until midnight, the management of human employees at Freddy’s is just great sometimes.
Everything was Christmas themed, from the tree and present decor down to the lead animatronics themselves. The service bots were dressed as elves, with dorky pointed hats, magnetic elf ears attached to the side of their heads, and arm coverings that were painted in various colors and patterns. Most of them were just one red and one green plate cover but a few had red and white stripes like a candy cane. Very festive but super annoying to put all of those on in one night the day before December 1st, all by yourself too. Freddy and the band were dressed in themed outfits as well which were a bit odd in your opinion, they were strangely themed as characters from the Nutcracker this year. Freddy was the Land of Snowflakes ruler, his outer casings had been swapped out for blue tinted ones that looked like ice. He even had some fake icicles hanging from his ears (which you had to repair daily from kids pulling on them). Chica was the Land of Sweets ruler named the Sugar Plum Fairy, she was dressed in a frilly pink and purple dress with fake wings attached to her back.
Roxy was Mother Ginger, the Land of Amusement’s ruler though they had changed the name to Madame Racer. Much to her protest and refusal to work with you when changing her casings, she was wearing a short dress that was designed to look like a circus tent. It had sections of fabric looping around her waist with a yellow and purple color palette. With the amount of ruffled fabric in the underskirt she looked almost like a cupcake, though you refrained from teasing her about that so she didn’t make your life miserable the whole month. Monty was even worse than Roxy however, getting him into costume was difficult enough and you were positive Monty was going to throw you against the wall. He was dressed as the Land of Flowers ruler, yes flowers… A very large and quite intimidating alligator was forced to wear a suit coat and vest with flower patterns all over it and a flower Mohawk. That’s right, a FLOWER MOHAWK made of fake lilies and poppies. You felt bad for the poor guy, being laughed at for an entire month had to be rough but you would tease him that ‘at least you’re not in a dress’ whenever he complained. You were surprised he hadn’t yelled at you yet but then again, you were his only human friend who wasn’t afraid of him so he treated you differently than the other staff.
Your ‘uniform’ for the season was just as ridiculous though so you got teased too. Your outfit consisted of a red suit coat with shoulder tassels, a cuff around your waist, black pants, a mini top hat and worst of all, a red frilly dress train that was open in the front and only covered your backside. It was like they wanted you to fit in with the cast but with it being a ballet, the costumes for the men and women were drastically different so they just combined the two. A man's suit that is also a dress, it would look fine on little kids but on an adult it looked stupid and you certainly felt that way too. You did everything you could to stay out of sight as much as possible but with all the repairs needing to be done on the working bots, you were out in the open more than you would have liked. Eyes stared at you and parents held back laughter whenever you walked by. By now you had succumbed to the humiliation, but hey, at least you weren’t a flower-gator.
You had finished checking the service bots in each area of the building, surprisingly there weren't many that required intensive repairs or cleaning tonight. It was a miracle, you thought for sure you would have to scrape off layers of grime and questionable substances from the bots on this crazy night but it was unusually calm today. You had even put an extra bottle of cleaner in your bucket in preparation. It was probably a result of family Christmas parties going on around town. Sweet, now you just needed to check on the main cast then you could hang out in the Daycare the rest of the night. It sounded like a solid plan so you started to make your way down to Rockstar Row.
Upon arrival you see each room closed up with the red curtain drawn behind the glass. You found it a bit odd they were all closed but then again, if the Glamrock’s had a week like you did you could understand their desire for just a moment of peace. The influx of of children wanting a photo with the Nutcracker crew was intense. Even lines at the local malls and stores to see Santa weren’t as long as the ones you saw here for Freddy and his band mates. Most likely because the costumes change every year, they are never the same as you’ve noticed.
You stopped by Monty’s room first and knocked on the door, robot’s don’t really need privacy but it was still a gesture you liked to make. No answer, odd. You knock again.
“Monty? I’m coming in!” You say as you open the door. The room was dimly lit with Christmas decor covering the room and a flower tree in the corner but no Monty. Weird, he’s usually in his room by now. You shrugged and moved to the next room, you knock on Roxy’s door but again there was no answer.
“Madame Racer? May I enter thy room my lady?” You tease through the door expecting a growl or snarky remark from the other side but were left in silence. You open the door and find the same thing as Monty’s room; dimly lit, Christmas decor, a circus themed tree, but no Roxy. “Okay… that’s 2 out of 4 missing…” You move on to Chica’s room, knocking first before you enter.
“Sweety fairy, I’m coming in! Better hide all your candy!” You chuckle entering her room. Nothing. It’s empty as well just like the others. “Chica? Not you too, where is everyone?!”
Last door. You breathe in a large breath and exhale loudly. You knock 3 times before entering the room. “Freddy you better be in here or I’m having MORT tag everyone’s location with an alarm.” You grumble.
Inside you were greeted with only a slightly dim room but at the center was a large Christmas tree all decorated with lights and icicles and all 4 band members standing in a semi circle facing you.
“Uh… what’s-“ you start but are cut off by Freddy and Chica.
“Merry Christmas!!!!” They shout in sync, Chica throws her arms up and wiggles her hands which makes you laugh.
“So this is where everyone is hiding. Are you having a Christmas party without me??? How rude!” You jest, entering the room and placing your supply bucket on the ground.
“No, never! You’re the honorary guest of this gathering.” Freddy remarks.
“Me? An honorary guest? You make me sound so important.” You chuckle. “So what’s going on? Why are you guys all hiding out in here?”
“To get away from you” Monty states without hesitation.
“Monty!!!” Freddy scolds.
“I’m just kiddin’ ice-bear! It’s a joke, they know I’m jus teasing ‘em.” Monty replies in defense to which you chuckle to yourself.
“WE wanted to wish you a merry Christmas. By ‘we’ I mean me. This was all my idea.” Roxy says and flips her hair with her hand.
“Aw come on Roxanne, we all came up with the idea!” Chica says, nudging her in the arm with her elbow. “We all worked hard on their gift.”
“Gift? You guys got me a gift?” You ask surprised.
“Well of course we did! We wanted to thank you for all your hard work, you take such good care of all of us when we need repairs.” Freddy commends.
“Pfft, that’s my job Freddy. You guys are the centerpieces of the pizzaplex after all, gotta make sure you’re in working order. It's no big deal.” You reply, waving your hand.
“It is a big deal, a big deal to us that is. We haven’t had an engineer like you before, you treat us like we are more than just metal and wires and it means a lot.” Freddy states.
“Soooo we got you something!~” Chica pulls out a small bag from behind her and lightly shakes it. The tissue paper ruffling at the object hidden within the contents of the bag.
“You guys…”
“Just open it dork.” Roxy teasingly urges.
You take the bag from Chica and pull out the tissue paper. Inside you find a frame and a small box. The frame was Fazbear themed of course with their cartoon faces around the border. At the bottom was a small metal plaque inscribed with the words ‘worlds best employee’, below that were the words ‘and friend’, scratched into the metal. The photo was a photo of you smiling while looking at something off camera.
“Aw, thanks you guys. This is really nice of you.” You pause. “Wait where did you get that photo from? I don’t remember anyone ever taking a photo of me.”
“We have our ways~” Chica snickers playfully. You snicker back at her while she giggles and open the smaller box. Inside was a colorful keychain with the same cartoon faces on it. It looked kind of like a charm bracelet but with more color added to it, the chain itself was a gold color.
“Isn’t this the limited edition keychain from the shop? These things are like 100 bucks!” You reply in shock.
“We thought your keys could use a bit more style to them.” Freddy winks.
“Now maybe you won’t loose them again either, spaghetti brain.” Roxy teases.
“That was one time!” You retort.
“Well now ya can take a piece of us with ya whenever you ain’t workin to remember how we care ‘bout cha.” Monty says. Everyone turns and looks directly at him, smiles creeping from the corners of their mouths. If animatronics could blush, you were sure Monty would be bright red. “A-and remember how much of a pain in the tail you are!” He grumbles, folding his arms.
“Nice save flower boy.” Roxy says to which Monty growls back at her. You couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Thanks you guys, this was really thoughtful of you.” You place the frame back in the bag and put it in your bucket. You pull out your keys and clip your new keychain on the ring, jiggling it up and down causing it to make a ‘clink’ sound with every movement. “It fits perfect.”
“Well, not to give you your gift and shoo you out but there is someone who has been dying to see you all day. Or rather, someones that is.” Chica winks.
“But I haven’t checked you guys out for damages yet.” You respond.
“Don’t worry, we have it covered. We were extra careful today so you didn’t have to spend any time on repairs. We wanted you to have an easy night.” Freddy says.
“But-“
“No buts pipsqueak, get goin. We promised those muppets we wouldn’t keep ya long.” Monty nods his head towards the door. Clearly trying to get rid of you to alleviate his embarrassment as well.
“Alright, alright. I‘m going.” You grab your bucket and head towards the door. Before exiting you look back at your coworkers. “Thanks you guys.”
“Merry Christmas friend.” Freddy says, waving you off.
You looped your way back to Kids Cove and headed towards the daycare. You make your way down the stairs and enter the play area through the big doors. The lights weren’t scheduled to turn off for another hour so the place was bright and colorful as always. Christmas lights lined the top of the glass barrier and there were snowflakes that children had made covering the glass itself.
“Sun buddy! Where are you?” You shout. You heard a loud bang from the other side of the daycare followed by stressed out exasperations about a mess. “Uh, Sun? You okay?” You ask, placing your bucket down on the security desk.
“Yep! Just dandy!” A stressed yet chipper voice responds. “Un momento por favor! Just wait there for a few seconds friend!” Another loud bang resonates across the daycare.
“Are you sure you’re okay? Do you need any help?”
“NO!” A loud bang. “We’re fine, just a few more minutes, we are almost done.” He responds.
“What are you up to back there?” You question.
“It’s a surprise! No spoiling the surprise til it’s ready!” He shouts back, you just smile and shake your head. Whenever they were determined to do something they sure got it done, no matter what.
You didn’t hear any more banging sounds but you did hear sun mumbling things to himself, or rather his other half Moon. You sat down at the security desk and leaned back in the chair while you waited. Several minutes go by, after tapping on the desk for a solid five minutes you start playing solitaire on the computer in front of you. You got through one game and a half before you heard Sun commend his and Moons work. You then hear the sound of bells approaching so you close your game and put the computer back on sleep mode.
“It's about time! I thought you were going to make me wait all night!” You tease, making your way around the desk.
“Sorry, sorry! We wanted everything to be perfect! We have been planning this all month!” Sun says as he bounds under the play bridge towards you. He was wearing a suit just like a nutcracker, a long red coat and white pants with a red stripe down the side. He had tall boots on that curled at the end with bells on them that made his typical jingle sound as he walked. He had a hat atop his head as well, his top sun ray was pushed in so the hat wouldn’t look weird just sitting on top of his sun ray. It was odd that Sun was chosen as the nutcracker but as Monty liked to tease, ‘it’s because they are a real nut case’.
“Oh? And what have you and Moon been plotting all month, hm? Is it a good surprise or bad surprise?” You ask.
“There’s no such thing as a bad surprise!” He retorts back. “Well, at least not in this case. We have had kids give us all kinds of… interesting surprises quite often.”
“Yeah, not sure dirty diapers and throw-up count as a surprise. More like bomb shells if you ask me.” You twist your face in disgust at the thought of some of the horror stories Sun has told you before. It sends shivers down your spine. You see the same thoughts run through Sun’s head as he stares at you blankly.
“Anyways!” He says, snapping out of it. “This is a good surprise, we promise! Well at least we hope it is a good surprise, we don’t have the ability to do much since we can’t leave the pizzaplex but we’ve worked hard on gathering all the needed supplies for tonight. We worked hard on putting it together and we are really excited about it. We hope you are excited too, it’s a special night after all! It’s Christmas Eve! If you aren’t excited though, that is A-Okay.” He pauses. “We hope you are at least a little excited though. Are you? Maybe you’re not. But how can you be excited if you don’t know what the surprise is! Aren’t all surprises exciting though? The good ones at least. Oh… but what if you think this is a bad surprise?! What if-“
“Sun!” You interrupt, grabbing his arms. “You’re rambling, relax dude. I’m going to love whatever it is you two have planned, don’t worry.” You smile, releasing your grip on him. “Besides, you guys only give the best kind of surprises. Except when Moon jump scares me out of nowhere. That’s not funny.”
His smile seems to brighten a bit. “Moon thinks it is quite entertaining. You do have the best expressions when you are scared.”
“Ouch. Betrayed my only ally, I’m heartbroken.” You hold your chest with one hand and put the other on your forehead dramatically. “I thought you of all people would be on my side!”
“We are on your side! We just want to make sure your heart stays healthy, and what better way to do cardio work than with a little jump scare every now and then. It keeps you on your toes and awake for the rest of your shift. You are just like a scared little mouse, it is quite adorable.” Sun says, he then covers his mouth like he had just spilled some deep secret. You decide to play along.
“So the truth comes out, shame on you both. My jumpy self takes offense to your pleasure in torturing me.” You fold your arms.
“Only a little.” He jests and you respond by sticking your tongue out at him. You laugh when he puts his hands up beside his head, wiggling them in a taunting motion. If he had a tongue, it would definitely be out.
After you stop laughing his posture changes and he stands up straight. He pretends to clear his throat to which you giggle.
“Ahem. Would you be so kind as to accompany us to our party for three? We are happy to be your escort for the trip.” He says with a bow.
“Oh, going all formal now huh? How noble of you Mr Nutcracker. And where might we be going?” You question.
“That is for us to know and you to find out~.” He snickers and you notice his hook coming down and attaching to his back. You begin to retreat backwards.
“Sun, no. We talked about this. No more flying lessons.” You panic as he strides towards you and snatches you by the waist, pulling you close.
“Don’t worry Daylight, it’s just a quick trip.” His grip tightens and he reaches his arm up to grab the wire.
“Sun! Don’t! Remember what happened last time!!! It’s not safe, it’s banned remember?!” Your hands grip onto the clothing of the bot in a frenzy, you knew there was no stopping him.
“Hang on tight little monkey~.” You begin to protest again but your jaw clenched shut the moment your feet left the ground. You dig your fingers deeper into the fabric and close your eyes. You feel the two of you lift up fast and zip away backwards. As fast as it happened was as fast as it ended. You felt your feet gently touch back down on the ground and you open your eyes. You were up on the balcony of their room overlooking the Daycare. You release your grasp and punch the bot in the side, he playfully puts his hands up.
“Don’t EVER do that again.” You scold.
“Sorry friend, no promises.” He says mischievously. He takes a few steps back and draws the curtain concealing their room. “After you~”
“You and Moon need to stop getting along, his evilness is rubbing off on you.” You grumble as you adjust your jacket and enter.
Inside was a sight you didn’t expect, you found yourself mumble an audible ‘woah’ under your breath. The small room was covered in Christmas lights strung across the wall and hanging from the ceiling. The crates that sat in the corners were covered with some wrapping paper and fake bows. The small playhouse had been moved to the corner and decorated with snowflakes. In the center of the room in front of you was a neatly arranged set of mats to look like a couch with a blanket laying over the top of it.
“Wow, you guys really went to town huh? You cleaned AND decorated. I’m impressed.” You nod.
“I’ll have you know it is Moon who is the messy one, not me.” He says entering, the scowl on his face indicated he was getting a nasty comment from Moon internally. You walk down the steps and take the hat off your head, placing it on a nearby crate as you make your way to the ‘couch’ and plop down.
“We know the ground isn’t the most sanitary thing to sit on, or the most comfortable for long periods of time but we hope this will do.” He says, making his way down the steps. You put your hands behind your head and lean back into the backrest.
“Seems pretty comfy to me. You got the extra soft mats from storage, I can tell.” You watch as he walks over to the wall and pulls a string attached to a white sheet which unrolls down the wall. “This is a good surprise, perfect place to relax for the rest of my shift. This is nice, thanks guys.”
“Oh that’s not all” he points at something just behind you and a small projector turns on projecting onto the white sheet he just unfurled. “Tada!!!!! Now we can watch a movie together without any unwanted guests.”
“A private screening? What’s playing tonight? A Christmas movie?” You ask.
“Mhm! We have been told that the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas is quite good.” He pauses. “And it was the only one we could get to work.”
You chuckle, “Yeah, it’s a great movie. A true classic for Christmas time, and you know…” a smile creeps across your face at the sudden realization. “The Grinch actually reminds me a lot of you two.” Sun gasps dramatically.
“Are you implying we are mean and nasty?! That everyone is afraid of us?”
“Pfft no! He’s just effortlessly funny, like you guys. Oh and overly dramatic.” You tease.
“How rude.” He retorts back. “Oh! One moment please.” He bounds over to a table hidden to the side of the stairs and pulls out a box of caramel corn and a drink. “Treats for the movie!”
“Aw, you shouldn’t have!” He joyfully strides over and hands you the treats before plopping down right next to you. “We heard snacks are essential for optimal movie enjoyment.”
You pop a couple of pieces of caramel corn in your mouth. “Yep, they are must haves. What’s a movie without popcorn and a soda!” You place the popcorn down and open your drink to take a few sips. “Ah~ Nice and fizzy” you say.
“They do call it fizzy faz for a reason!” He chuckles to himself and leans over to place a blanket over your shoulders, he gives a small pat on one of your shoulders before leaning back into the backrest himself.
“Wow, a blanket too? Now you’re just spoiling me. If I didn’t know any better I’d say this is a dat-“ Sun puts a finger up to your lips and cuts you off.
“Shhhh~ the movies starting!” He watches eagerly as the intro plays and you sink into the blanket. This wasn’t a date, right? I mean you guys were friends, coworkers. The Daycare Attendant is programmed to care for everyone, adults too, there is no way that they could have feelings toward you…. Right? And it’s not like you had any feelings towards them either, you were strictly professional… Right?????
The movie played and you ate about half of the box of popcorn before setting it aside and curling into the blanket. You noticed Sun had begun to tap his fingers on his leg after you had done so. You knew him well enough to know that was a sign he was nervous or anxious about something. He looked down at you briefly before quickly averting his gaze back to the movie. You ignored it for a few minutes until you could feel him staring at you for a solid minute.
“You okay there Sun? Do I have something on my face?” You ask, he just freezes.
“N-no you’re fine. Nothings wrong, we’re fine! Just peachy~” He finally replies. He then lifts one arm up and does a fake stretch before slowly lowering it back down. It hovers over your shoulders before finally resting on you. You try to hold back a laugh.
“Did you just….” You trail off. His expression clearly showed he was nervous about your reaction, debating whether he takes his arm off or pulls you in closer to him. You decide to help him out and gently take his hand to draw it and him closer. The stiffness in his posture relaxes and he scoots closer to you, sliding you into his chest as he does so. He was holding you, gently, you could faintly hear mechanical fans within his chest regulate to a slower speed. You could feel your heart rate start to rise a bit, your face also started to heat up after the two of you got into a comfortable position. Were you… blushing?
At about the halfway point through the movie you heard the power begin to shut down and the lights turned off. The room went completely dark and it startled you. It was pitch black, you couldn’t see a single thing except for the faint glow of the attendants eyes. You heard mechanics whirl and turn as his head spun completely around. The soft white of his eyes was replaced with bright red, the grip around your shoulder tightened a bit.
“Moon?” You ask, checking his responsiveness. Sometimes the switch was quick and painless while other times… something else got in the way.
His grip then loosens and the red dims to a white, his right eye still had a slight red hue to it. His gaze shifts down to meet yours as a nightcap slides into place. “Starlight?” He says, his voice was soft with no hint of distress or anger in it.
“Hey. That was fast, not even a freeze or anything. Is it getting easier?” You question. After you found out about the virus placed inside the attendants programming you did everything you could to get rid of it but there were still residual bits that were embedded into their system that they would have to reprogram themselves. Moon no longer had the urge to harm others and act like a homicidal maniac but he still had to fight the virus whenever he and Sun switched places.
“Mm…. Still difficult but not as hard as before.” He adjusts the blanket around your shoulder where his grip was, smoothing out the wrinkles. “Virus not gone, yet.”
“It’s still a small step in the right direction. Whenever I find out who bugged you two I’m going straight to management to demand answers.” You hiss.
“Demand? You struggle asking for help on anything, too scared.” He teases.
“I am not! I just don’t like people okay, human interaction is hard. I’d figure it out.” You say in defense. “At least for you guys I would.”
“Hmm… don’t see it.” He replies. If it weren’t pitch black you were positive he would be sneering playfully at you.
“Yeah yeah, whatever. I would still have a FIRM conversation with whoever did that to you guys…”
“We know.” He pats your head gently. “Little mouse.”
You grumble under your breath to which he chuckles. After a minute or so the sound of the power turning back on hums throughout the daycare though all the lights still stay off, including the Christmas lights in Sun and Moon’s room. The projector turns back on however, and the movie was paused right where it had been left. It wasn’t bright enough for Moon to switch back to Sun so it was now his turn to watch the movie with you. You could tell they had timed that out on purpose.
“Back to movie, yes?” He asks. You nod and lean your head onto his chest.
The movie starts back up and there weren’t any interruptions the rest of the time. Throughout the movie, you realized that Moon had snuck his hand into yours without you noticing somehow. You didn’t mind, Moon was heavily programmed on comforting children so he was more ‘touchy’ than Sun. You had learned that holding hands was Moon’s form of comfort when he is anxious. When Sun is anxious you’ve found that just talking with him about anything usually calms him down. Moon… was the complete opposite of Sun.
When the credits began to play you sat up slowly and stretched your arms, yawning loudly in the process.
“So, what’d you think? You like that one?” You ask. Moon tilts his head from side to side, contemplating.
“Like it, Sun thinks Grinch is very mean though. I think Grinch is funny.”
“Oh yeah? You would.” You sneer. “He’s just like you, when you are in your ‘Moody Moon’ phase.” You laugh as he scowls at you.
“Not funny.”
“I think it’s very funny.” You chuckle. “You’re just bipolar sometimes, no big deal. I mean the phases of the moon is a real thing, it’s just ironic that you have them as well.” He grumbles and you laugh again. You check the time on your watch and realize it is 5 minutes to 11 which means it’s 5 minutes until the doors lock for the night. “CRAP!” You frantically start to get up but Moon grabs your arm.
“Won’t make it.” He says.
“I can if I run! Or-“ You get chills of dread at the thought. “-if you give me a ride to the door.” You grit your teeth. “Maybe if I just piggy back you on the front and close my eyes real tight I won’t get as motion sick.”
“No. Better idea.” He lets his hand slide down to yours and brings his other one up to hold it as well. He wraps his fingers around your hand, “Stay” he says.
Your heart skipped a beat. Looking back at him as you stood on your knees made him look like he was begging you to stay. Like a sad puppy not wanting to be left alone. Why was he being more clingy than usual? They were both always so pushy when it came to keeping you punctual at closing time.
“Moon… I’ll get in trouble. I could loose my job, you know that.” You try to remind him. “It’s against the rules, that’d make me a rule breaker.”
“We can let it slide… this time.” His gaze shifted down to your hand as he stroked it gently.
“Moon…”
“Stay. Please.” He continues stroking your hand. “Won’t tell.”
Your heart sank. He was stalling on purpose. Just like a little kid he was trying to persuade you by using the ‘puppy dog’ tactic. And it was working.
“Where would I sleep? I can’t exactly ask to sleep on Freddy’s couch again, I’ll get caught for sure. You know Vanessa patrols this place at night like a hawk, she’d find me and report me to management.” You tried to pull your hand away but only managed to move it a few inches.
The Christmas lights in the room turned on and the dark room became dimly lit. You watched as sun rays pushed their way out from the left side of his face plate, making his nightcap slide halfway off his head. Great. Now they were both going to start begging together. They got on their knees, hands traveling up your arm to your shoulder. Your heart began to pound and you could feel blood rushing to your cheeks. Their left hand came up under your chin and stroked the side of your face. Their cold fingers left a burning sensation as they moved to and fro. Your hear racing faster with every movement.
“Guys….” You mutter, barely able to get the words out. “Two against one isn’t fair.”
They lean in, lifting your chin up with their index finger. Their faceplate comes into contact with your lips, the cold burning sensation spread across your entire body like lightning. You knew what they were doing, this just confirmed what you’ve been thinking since you entered their room tonight. You weren’t leaving and they were going to make sure of that. Then again, you didn’t want to leave either. You stood there interlocked for what felt like minutes before they leaned back to let you breathe. You were bright red, you could feel it and you knew they could see it too.
But you didn’t care.
“Protect you…. Keep you safe here, together.” Their hand was still on your face, it had slid down to your jawline and their thumb was gently caressing your cheek. “Stay.”
Your hand moved on its own, it linked in theirs and you interlocked fingers. This was probably a bad idea, no, you knew it was a bad idea but you could care less. You had refrained from telling them you were going to spend Christmas alone, you didn’t want them to worry. But you had wished that you wouldn’t have to spend another Christmas by yourself this year, looks like that wish was actually going to happen.
“Okay… But only because it’s Christmas. And just this once.” You give in and are pulled into a hug. Their arms wrap around you, drawing you in close. They squeeze you gently and you feel a warmness fill your chest. This was their plan all along.
“You guys are such cheaters…” You whisper.
“We know.”
You let yourself sink back down to the floor and they lay you down, having you rest on their chest. They grab the blanket and wrap it around you to keep you warm. One arm was placed around your lower back and the other began rubbing your upper back in a soothing motion. You didn’t realize how tired you were until you felt yourself loosing consciousness.
“You are our gift… thank you.”
Those were the last words you heard before drifting off to sleep as you asked yourself, what had you just gotten yourself into?

really rambly post regarding bw fics merry christmas
i got into bloodweave when there was only 20ish fics, constantly refreshed the tag for every single new upload cuz there wasn't much so early in the games release. and now that it's in the 800s (including ot3/polyship content which i usually exclude in my own searches) it's nice that i can be picky! cuz i AM very picky!
but also kinda sad that i can't keep up w the constant uploads as much as i was able to abt 3 months ago. i still try to! but its hard ;; cuz i love this ship!! and there is so many new fics that are incredible and high quality.
it's almost w shame that anyone newly getting into this ship will probably only sort the tag by hits/kudos and miss all the other fantastic fics that are likely buried under the absolute mass of uploads, esp if ppl aren't used to excluding other ship tags.
i hate how we equate hits/kudos to how good a fic is because i have tons of bw fic recs that barely even break a couple hundred. the more 'popular' fics are great, sure, but also they were some of the only options at the time with so little uploads, of course they're going to be the reason for a lot of ppl into the ship and be ppls fave fic. but they aren't the only good fics!!!! there are fantastic fics constantly being posted!!!! you just need to keep an eye on them
i really didn't think this would be the most popular origin ship? (it's the most popular on ao3 right after like, 5 variants of astarion/player character LMFAO) i honestly expected more people to like wyllach or shadowzel (which i enjoyed before bloodweave had me in a chokehold)
everyone i've met thanks to bloodweave is so incredibly sweet and talented. skilled artists and writers alike. fantastic friends.
i have been so much more creative in the past few months than i have for years. i got back into writing fanfic after over a decade! i'm getting out of my comfort zone with art! i'm making character and ship playlists again! it's so nice to embrace fandom again
but i think the fics especially matter a lot to me. the writers who i consider great friends now deserve so much recognition that they don't get enough of. i wish i could scream from the rooftops how amazing and skilled and talented and sexy my friends and their writing are
anyway 😃 pointless post im just ranting
