(JTA) — As we mark the grim second anniversary of the Ukraine conflict this Shabbat, I’m reminded of a haunting melody I heard in the city of Poltava last month.
I was standing before Sonia Bunina, a plucky 17-year-old, when she opened her mouth to sing when an air raid siren rang out.
I flinched. Not Sonia — she didn’t miss a beat.
“Kol haolam kulo gesher t’zar meod, veha’ikar lo lifached k’lal,” she belted out before seeking shelter. “The whole world is a very narrow bridge, and the most important thing is to have no fear at all.”
Sonia, like so many Jews I know in Ukraine, is many things — determined, grieving, focused — but she’s certainly not cowering.
As she sang those words by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov — the Ukrainian Jewish sage whose followers continue to come by the tens of thousands to his grave in Uman annually — she embodied the prayer’s indomitable spirit.
Sonia and I met outside Poltava’s Hesed, part of the network of Jewish humanitarian hubs founded by my organization — the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, or JDC — more than three decades ago. Today they’re a lifeline to tens of thousands of Jews facing loss and strife. Since she was a toddler, Sonia has been attending activities at Hesed — her mother coordinates cultural programs for the elderly, and she connects teen volunteers like herself with isolated seniors, a critical source of comfort these last two years.
These days, traveling to Ukraine feels like a pilgrimage — there’s a pull in my soul to visit family near Lviv, to bear witness to Ukrainian Jewish resilience, and to be inspired by the clarity of purpose that is so palpable there. Since my first trip in 2011, I’ve been eight times. Last year, I wrote about how a year of crisis had transformed the ordinary into the sacred in Ukraine. Now, visiting feels even more essential with the worsening humanitarian situation.
Ukrainian Jews aren’t blasé about these challenges — far from it. Just take the delicate ballet of emotions on their faces when checking their phones during an air alert — contacting loved ones, scrolling through photos of devastation, and analyzing Telegram chats speculating on a given rocket’s make and trajectory.
But life goes on — there’s work to do — and though they’ve lost so much, they refuse to give any more away.
Showing up for each other, whatever it takes, is now baked into their very essence as Jews, and in Ukraine, there are tens of thousands to serve — hungry old women and displaced young families, disabled Holocaust survivors and stunned middle-aged professionals, shocked to now need help when they were once donors and volunteers.
They act fearlessly to ensure their communities make it through this crisis, body and soul intact. Can we expect anything less than boundless creativity from the people who birthed Sholem Aleichem and the Baal Shem Tov?
“These bombings, all these things that are killing people, destroying houses, leaving children homeless … it’s very scary,” Galina Limarenko, an 82-year-old retired nurse, told me in her small bedroom in Berezivka, taking note of the warm blanket, firewood, and other winter supplies my colleagues provided. “Thank God for the Jewish community, which never gives up and always shares even their very last piece of bread.”
I saw that irrepressible spirit again at our Beit Dan JCC in battered Kharkiv — a shapeshifting wellspring of strength just a few dozen kilometers from the eastern border. Shortly after Feb. 24, 2022, the center became a staging ground for truckloads of emergency aid — part of the 800 tons of humanitarian assistance we’ve delivered so far.
A few blocks from missile strikes, it now hosts children’s camps and soulful Shabbat services and operates a “kids hub,” offering academic enrichment to children who haven’t had in-person school for years — robbed of normal childhood by the pandemic and now the ongoing crisis.
And amidst blizzards and blackouts, Beit Dan has also become a “warm hub,” a safe place for beleaguered Jewish Kharkivites to charge their devices and obtain a hot drink and warm meal.
“If you share in our pain, and provide support where it’s needed, I’m forever grateful,” said Nika Simonova, Beit Dan’s program director. “The ability to remain human is the main thing. Done right, I believe that can save the world.”
That’s why we at JDC, aided by a coalition of partners including the Jewish Federations, Claims Conference, and International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, deployed a historic response to this conflict and remain committed to the Jewish future here.
We’re focused on ongoing humanitarian support for more than 41,000 Ukrainian Jews, expanding trauma relief, closing children’s educational gaps, and getting unemployed Jewish community members, among millions of Ukrainians plunged into poverty, back to work.
There is no doubt that the Jewish world is now responding to crises on multiple fronts, including this one, but we have been here so many times before. We must draw strength from our history and from the sure knowledge that this is what we’re built for. Our compassion and commitment, when leveraged with that timeless sense of mutual Jewish responsibility, means we can tackle the challenges we face — and come out on the other side even stronger.
As I walked through Lviv on my last day in Ukraine, I asked my cousin Anna Saprun, a 25-year-old business analyst, how this period has changed her.
“I hate what’s brought me here, but I love who I’ve become,” she said with a fierce and feisty smile. “Nothing scares me anymore. I feel powerful.”
Two years after the conflict began, Ukraine’s Jews are inspired anew each day, resolute in the sure knowledge that they know exactly who they’re working for — each other.

Okay jumblr, help me out: I'm looking for a version of the Kol Haolam Kulo Gesher Tzar Meod song that is by a frum artist and is a slow, dramatic ballad version of it. I remember listening to it a number of years ago, but I absolutely cannot find it now for love or money. It's weird because I'm pretty sure that it's a bigger name in the frum singer scene. What I remember is that I found a couple versions at roughly the same time - one was a faster, dance version by Beri Weber, and then there was this ballad version that I can't find now. Help?

THERE ARE NO ENTITIES ON LEVEL ZERO: An Essay.
There are no entities on level zero. (Yes, I know it is class 1 because technically there could be some half dullers around and if you're a new wanderer its deadly because of its emptiness so its a little dangerous, but thats the only reason. Also the MEOD may not always be right. 🤷🏼‍♂️) The reason people claim there are is because level zero causes such bad sensory depravation it causes paranoia and hallucinations. Any entities you see or perceive on level zero are most likely figments of your imagination. This is why documented cases of entity sightings in level 0 are rare. Most people who no-clip into level 0 have no resources on them and die from starvation/dehydration before they can be there long enough to experience these mental effects. The thing about level 0 is that there is basically nothing there. Nothing artificial, natural, supernatural, technological, or anomalous that can support any form or simulation of existence. This includes entities. Any entity that no-clipped into level 0 would most likely die/cease to exist after a while because there is basically nothing there. no matter how unusual or anamolous the needs of entities are, they generally need SOMETHING to sustain their existence. However, the nostalgic effect of level zero is something that some entities feed on, and can manifest some entities like wretches from how strong the negative effects of this are. However most people die on 0 before they could even go insane, let alone enter the wretched cycle. (This applies to animals as well, which is why you rarely see frontrooms animals in the backrooms at all. There is a theory that many animals may no-clip directly into level 81 which is why so many Frontrooms animals are seen there. However this could just be an anomalous effect of level 81, and the animals are generated there, although they would be oddly normal for being Backrooms-generated.)
Also, THE ISOLATION EFFECT. While there may be some entities immune to level 0's isolation effects, humans are not, and most entities probably are not either. It is also possible that some isolation effects (such as that of level 37) are powerful enough to effect everything. This may not be the case for level 0 however. The evidence for this is reports of hound or duller sightings by wanderers who first appeared and had never seen one before, or reports of actual attacks with physical wounds. (However there is a possibility that someone who had the resources to survive on level zero might stay there long enough to go insane and resort to self injury, dissociation, or psychosis. Although there would have to be an extreme case of dissociation or psychosis to create the illusion of an entity causing what was actually self harm. The survivor in question would have to already be mentally ill before entering level 0.) Usually these reports involve hounds or dullers, which suggest these entities may have the ability to cross through level 0's isolation field. However since frontrooms creatures cannot, it would be impossible to completely meet an entity and be entirely in the same dimension of level 0 as them. This means that they would be only partially no-clipped through the dimensions of level 0 making them less likely to cause harm. The most common entity type that has the power to no-clip through dimensions is dullers, (this is why they can no-clip through walls, ceilings, floors, or objects to attack,) although they may not be powerful enough to entirely overcome the isolation field, also possibly rendering them unable to fully manifest into the same dimension as another creature or manifest there for very long. This would explain a good percentage of reported entity sightings from level zero being of dullers or of something resembling a duller to at least some extent. So if you see an entity resembling a tall, skeletal humanoid to any extent on level zero you should avoid it at all costs, just in case. However any other type of entity perception, especially if it is vague or you're unclear of its reality, is most likely not directly real. What is real is the monotony and emptiness of level 0, which after long enough, can kill. The only way to survive is to no-clip to level 1. Hope you think of that or know to try and also master the skill to succeed, (hence "tutorial level" as this is as vital of a skill to Backrooms survival as running or hiding) or accidentally do if you ever end up in the Backrooms. Because if you hear something, it most likely HAS NOT heard you. You are alone.
THIS is the horror of level 0. So please stop spreading the myth that there are actually a bunch of hounds or something on level 0, or that lore followers are ruining it by adding stupid entities to level 0. This is not true. The official wikidot page lore and most other lore makes it very clear that few or no Entities exist on level 0. Probably. Or at least it should be that way. Stop trying to make up dumb lore that there are entities there, because that does ruin level 0. OTHER LEVELS EXIST. You can have deeper backrooms lore without ruining the psychological horror of level zero. THERE ARE NO ENTITIES ON LEVEL 0.
Thank you for reading.

This article discusses active learning methods for elementary school students
Primary school education plays an important role in developing students' basic knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them in the future. The application of effective learning methods can help improve student learning outcomes now.
   Pendahuluan
 Pembahasan
Metode pembelajaran aktif telah terbukti efektif dalam meninhkatkan pembelajaran siswa di tingkat sekolah dasar, Dalam meode pembelajaran ini, siswa menjadi subjek aktif dalam proses pembelajaran, di mana mereka terlibat dalam kegiatan eksplorasi, interaksi kelompok, dan penemuan. Dalam bahasa yang formal, metode pembelajaran aktif dapat di terapkan melalui beberapa pendekatan, seperti penjelasan dibawah ini ;
1. Diskusi kelompok
