In the spirit of the Olympics: ASOIAF characters and their Olympic sports
Jamie Cersei obviously a tennis doubles team thanks @melrosing for ur big brained art. Tywin is their coach and has been abusing training them since they were like seven. Consistent natty champs but haven’t scored a Wimbledon title yet and have yet to get gold at the Olympics (they have one bronze one silver). Mostly because Cersei breaks her racket every time things start going wrong. Also because Jamie is so full to the brim with shame and need for daddy’s recognition that he starts breaking down almost immediately once the point gap starts to widen
Brienne is a long distance swimmer she’s the Katie Ledecky of Westeros no one can touch her do you see her wingspan??? Usually finishes 5-15 seconds before everyone else sometimes other ppl aren’t even in the frame. Has multiple gold medals at this point and has been to the Olympics twice before she even turned 20. Lesbians go crazy over her online
Arya does some type of shooting and she’s like those tiny little teenagers that show up and blow all of their grownup competition out of the water. Steady hand and crazy aim. OR she does fencing and has a super unique style that gets the internet really into it for a couple of weeks. OR judo in the lightweight class. She’s so talented 🙂‍↕️ she’s definitely medaled at her first games when she’s like 14
Sansa is very obviously a figure skater like!!!! Of course she is!!! She is obsessed with her lines and artistry and takes ballet classes in order to improve her fluidity. She’s a young star in women’s singles, mostly for how graceful and fluid she is when she moves, and for her very gentle/pretty/romantic choice of costumes, music, and choreography. But she really wants to do pair skating mostly because she wants to have a romantic story to tell at their wedding (yes Joffrey is the potential partner)
Dany plays field hockey and she is sooooo cute and fun and peppy off the field and is so charming during all the interviews and always gives the girls a great inspirational speech and is just a very good leaderly figure in general. And then the game starts and you see a 5’2 platinum blonde sprinting towards u with blood and malice in her eyes and a big stick in her hands. She wants gold and by god does she get gold. Occasionally body checks ppl but she’s just too small for rugby.
Robb is a young rugby star he’s so handsome and muscular and all of his interviews go viral everyone’s obsessed with his training videos that the team TikTok posts. Soooo good too he’s on the Olympic team at 18 and he’s just sprinting down that field and dominating the game. But he’s so oblivious to it all the love when ppl ask if he’s dating anyone he’s like why would I do that I have to bulk up and focus on my game 🤨 and then runs off to meal prep with Theon (who does not meal prep but is obsessed with him)
Jon is an ice hockey guy to me. So dark and brooding while he’s sitting on the bench and he’s all locked in when it’s time to start playing he’s just so serious ab it he lives for The Game. But every time his buddies score a goal he goes absolutely batshit crazy and just loses all composure. And when they win he starts ugly sobbing. There’s a viral photo of him after winning his first gold just standing on the podium with snot and tears running down his face while the rest of the team is like 😁😁😆😄 him and Robb train together but Jon has absolutely no media training every interview is a disaster

11th November 1723: saw ighteen people drowned in the River Tweed near Abbotsford when a ferry boat capsized; travellers were going from Gala to the fair at Melrose.
There is sadly very little about this tragic accident online, this is straight from the history books.
A number of people proceeding from Galashiels and its neighbourhood to attend a fair at Melrose, and crossing the Tweed in a ferry-boat at Nether Barnsford, near what afterwards became Abbotsford, were thrown by the oversetting of the boat into the water, then in flood, and eighteen of them drowned.
A boy named Williamson, son of a tradesman in Galashiels, was preserved in a wonderful way. Thrown at first to the bottom of the river, he caught a man by the hair of his head, and was thus enabled to rise to the surface. There he was kept afloat by grasping, first, a bundle of lint, and then a sackful of gray cloth, letting go each in succession as it became saturated with water. Then a deal from the ‘lofting’ of the boat came near him, and he grasped it firmly below his breast. Meanwhile he was moving rapidly down the stream. there was a place where formerly a bridge had been, and where three piers yet stood in the water. It was with difficulty he got through one of the spaces, and over a cascade on the lower side of the bridge. Sometimes, thrown on his back, he was under water for thirty or forty yards, but he never let go the deal.
At length, after going considerably more than a mile in this manner, he was taken up by the West-house boat, the manager of which had been warned of his coming, and of his possible preservation, by a ploughman mounted on a horse, which, escaping from the overset boat, had swum ashore in time to admit of this rapid and dexterous movement.

Hi!! I was wondering if you have a list of 90s raver t shirt brands (including for women) I always see brand names for pants, and I would love to know what to look for online, thank you!
man I didn't see this in my inbox until now haha.
unfortunately there's not like, a master list of shirt brands really aside from those already connected to rave pants brands (jnco/kikwear kikgirl/gat/etc.) mostly because manufacturing shirts with prints is/was incredibly accessible (especially in the 90s) for just about ANYONE to do; so some of my favorite men's brands like clobber or freshjive that were heavily rave-influenced were simply screen printed in people's apartments in the early and mid 90s. They were either sold to shops on melrose in like 20-30pc amounts, or just out of backpacks at raves, but to my knowledge and from looking at catalogs, any of the stuff even like early anarchic adjustment were made in maybe 100-140pc amounts at MOST and just in sizes L and XL usually. 26red and some others got their start that way, caffeine was a record shop first before they ever made clothes, I have a handful of their tapes and records they used to put out.
Most of the early ravewear was just skate stuff that ravers /liked/ like hookups or split, the thing that made it "rave" was just ravers /wearing/ it, they weren't really "raver" brands. Today it's still kind of like that, I'll wear like a bugsex shirt or a 'mr clean' shirt or just local artists I like that have cartoony graphics; early happy99, souldog, I have a guess jeans shirt that has a synthesizer mockup on it, a modern phug shirt that had an acid print this one run, and other stuff, but none of those are "raver" brands per-se, you have to style them with other raverwear and accessories and such for them to be in "raver-style". The "rave"-ness is in the inherent diy perspective or clever re-appropriation towards rave (in the same vein as sample-culture in mid-90s rave music as well) and why it's so hard to truly sell "rave" to the masses even today hahaha.
in the late-90s you had stuff like newbreedgirl or random in-house hot topic brands making stuff more "rave"-oriented like the rainbowbrite shirts or the wonderland bootlegs, but ravers would also go for tinkerbell or ppg shirts sold in the same shop; it was kind of up to the shop to curate what vibe they wanted to sell. The only rave-specific brands I can think of (aside from ones attached to rave pants brands) were mostly just one-offs from record labels like the untranslatable, pureacid mixtapes, dr. freeclouds; printed flyer parties themselves like jujubeats and stuff; or random fuct, pimpgear, or thc one-offs that were usually just a play on drug culture and not so much rave. I have a thc shirt that has the nasa logo spelling "mdma" on a pill, but those were sold at skate shops or record stores.
the tldr is really that there aren't many "raver" brands and that if ravers wore them, it /was/ a "rave" brand in that haha. The few that did cater to ravers were either fully diy sold at parties themselves and/or record shops, but most "brands" were just one guy that made 2-3 designs at most for him and his friends hahaha. A lot of current clothing I see at underground raves in LA is the same or sold directly from vendors at little tables at some renegade under a bridge

Got to meet my favorite Canadian comicbook writer/novelist BLAKE NORTHCOTT today! I've been a fan of hers since I first read one of her books back in 2012. She rarely makes it to L.A., so when she announced she was having a book signing at Golden Apple Comics on Melrose, I just had to take the day off of work to see her. I'm happy to say that she's just as nice (& even prettier) in person as she is online.

La Qchara Vs La Cabaña: A Battle of Latin American Cuisine
In the fast paced food truck environment in Melrose, Massachusetts, two Latin American food trucks stand out: La Qchara and La Cabaña. While both offer authentic tastes and experiences, they both have their curved authentic niche from different parts of South America. La Qchara derives from traditional homemade recipes from Central and South America with a large online presence, while La Cabaña specializes in Mexican and Salvadorian dishes, as a smaller, family-owned business. Here is how these food trucks compare in food, marketing, service, all while both should have a prioritized spot on your next food truck experience.
A Culinary Showdown
La Qchara is a blend of Central and South American specialities with a twist of modern tradition. For instance, their famous gluten free arepas, home-made with stuffed corn-meal cakes filled with an abundance of freshly prepared ingredients: Venezuelan seasoned shredded beef, cilantro lime shredded chicken, chorizo, queso, sesame dressing, and much more. These Arepas range from $7-$15 dollars depending on filling. These cuisines are appealing to foodies who wish for hearty, bold and innovative flavors. As someone who is always looking for an allergen friendly restaurant, I tried Reina Pepiada Arepa which is served with cilantro lime avocado chicken, with a house salad topped with homemade sesame dressing. This cuisine comes in at $12.95 which is reasonably priced for the large portions you receive. This fluffy, rich cuisine fulfilled a craving I didn’t know I had. This cuisine and many of their other menu items are perfect for people with allergies who worry about being given an unsafe item. La Qchara has homemade coffee, smoothies, raw juices, teas and refreshing traditional Mexican drinks, desserts like churros, pie, lemon bread, and many more. Every dish at La Qchara seems to embrace a unique balance of traditional ingredients with a fresh twist, catering to those who enjoy Latin flavors but with a gourmet touch.
In contrast, La Cabaña shares authentic Salvadorian street tacos, quesadillas, bowls, and even houses American traditional cuisines such as wings and burgers. There is a rich, comforting feel to the menu due to the array of traditional items from different parts of the world. La Cabaña shares some allergen friendly ingredients as many of their tortillas, pupusas, and sauces are gluten and dairy free. They take accommodations, but are not able to honor all dietary and other requests. I tried the Carne Asada Plate starting at $20 which holds a refreshingly simple, yet flavorful skirt steak with cheese, beans, guacamole, and scallions. As this is a more pricey item, there are additional items that are more budget friendly if you are looking for quick, tasteful, and authentic meals. If you are looking for a quick, cheaper option they have their homemade tacos starting at $5 dollars each offering ingredients like grilled steak, chicken, guacamole, and a choice of your own spice. If you are looking for a more hearty American cuisine they offer their famous “Big Al” which is made with lettuce, tomato, cheese, pineapple, raw onions, jalapenos, sausage, and even ham. Lastly, to fully embark the true home style feels, there is a family taco option which comes in at $55 for 12 tacos of any meat of your choice, where you can order different meats to fulfill the full 12 tacos. La Cabaña’s approach to flavor is straightforward and soulful, staying close to traditional recipes. It’s evident that their goal is to preserve and celebrate the classics, and for those craving Mexican or Salvadorian comfort food, La Cabaña hits the mark every time.
Scenic Experience
La Qchara’s atmosphere is as bold as its menu. The truck is enhanced through their old wooden grained spoon graphic stemming from the meaning of their truck which in spanish “La Qchara” means “Large serving spoon” which stays true to the truck's values of hearty, authentic meals. On the side of the bright, fire truck red mobile vehicle is “La Qchara” written in an old Latin American font. Underneath the large text is written “El Nuevo Latino” referring to a modern twist on traditional latin cuisine and identity.
All age groups are drawn by the truck’s popular Instagram and website, lingering around snapping photos and chatting. The double ordering windows surrounded with beautiful stainless steel and welcoming faces creates La Qchara’s key identity. The truck’s sleek, modern feel, combined with its active social media presence, makes La Qchara a favorite for those who seek a lively, contemporary dining experience. La Qchara is filled with a welcoming online presence with the owners, employees, and customers interacting online through TikTok, fun videos, trends, and glamourize visual presentation of eating their amazing cuisines.
When walking up to the food truck you will be greeted by a friendly, outgoing employee who is fully prepared to educate you on each menu item. If you are lucky enough to be visiting at the same time as owners Emily and Lorenzo Tenreiro who will gladly speak about their story and values around their business.
La Qchara’s food truck offers catering services for your individual needs. Not only is the truck available for private booking, but you can also find them at popular outdoor venues and events located in Salem, Beverly, and Melrose Massachusetts.
La Cabaña, meanwhile, is a small, more private scene located in the heart of Melrose, Massachusetts. The setup feels more intimate and welcoming from all aspects due to their graphics on the truck housing many traditional cuisines from worldwide. The logo is a small cottage style house with “La Cabaña” written in an old style cursive as if your grandparents had written you a letter and signed it in their handwriting. The graphics of the truck encase a coffee brown color which is weaved through wooden panels with a clay tile roof in a mimic of a cottage home.
It’s a quieter experience than La Qchara, providing an ideal space for anyone who prefers a laid-back meal with friends or family. The translation of their name means “At the Cottage” which is engulfed in the ambiance, and feels like an extension of its close-knit, family-run nature, offering customers a taste of home.
You can find this warm welcoming food truck stationed in Melrose with the hours of 11am-6pm Mondays and Tuesdays and Wednesday through Saturday 11am-8pm. They also do local public events in Melrose Ma, and can be booked for private events as well.
La Qchara and La Cabaña both embrace their own traditional Latin American cuisines in very different styles. Each is a great option if you are looking for a quality meal served from loving and welcoming staff.
