“Filmy” fashions are quite often confined to film (and rightfully so!) but in the case of some of the late 80s/90s fashion here, these were actual trends. 

The late 80s had a lot of geometric patterns stitched together, ruched kurtas, large floral motifs etc. - feels like this was the birth of “Indo-Western”. Pic 1′s Maine Pyar Kiya was a bonafide hit of the season, with street versions available everywhere. As was the jacket Salman wears that Bhagyashree is holding in the pic.

Pic 3 and 4 are two 80s/early 90s staples, heavy mirror work and the entire print and match outfit right down to the dupatta. Versions of these are still around, though pic 4 kind of outfits are a bit dated.

Deep love for the single colour, shiny sari in the 90s - the Surat mills must have churned them out in every colour. But yellow really ruled from what I remember and was worn with a heavy mirror work blouse or something equally dramatic.

I watched Aadmi Khilona Hai (1993) and oh boy, was it a steaming pile of shit.

This film is about two brothers, Sharad (Govinda) and Madan (Jeetendra). Sharad is an orphan who was raised by his older brother, whom he also kind of worships as a God. Madan is married to Ganga (Reena Roy) and they have a daughter, Guddi. Ganga is also pregnant, which we only know because she randomly ends up in the hospital to give birth.

Sharad meets Poonam (Meenakshi Seshadri) at college by - you guessed it - being a complete creep. She blows him off but they keep running into each other. They eventually fall in love. Poonam is poor and lives with her grandfather and sleazy uncle. Some random guy her uncle hangs around (played by Dalip Tahil) is in lust with Poonam and will stop at nothing to get her. The uncle helps this creepy old dude, but Poonam overhears and runs away.

***MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING*** While Poonam is trying to escape these goons, their jeep runs over two homeless old men sleeping in the street. They are then shown screaming in pain while their blankets are soaked in blood. WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU INCLUDE SOMETHING LIKE THIS? JUST WHY?! I know they were just acting, but that broke my heart and was really traumatizing to watch.

Anyway, Sharad magically happens to be there and saves Poonam in time. Dalip Tahil's character is never seen or mentioned again after this. Okay, literally what was the point of him anyway? Sharad and Poonam are quickly married.

Oh, and Ganga also has this really horrible aunt who always comes over for some reason. Bua (Sulabha Deshpande) is trying to get her daughter married to Sharad, but the daughter ends up falling for Sharad’s friend (played by Laxmikant Berde). However, their romantic subplot literally goes NOWHERE. This couple, for some reason, even have a weird song together. Anyway, Bua likes to talk mad shit about Poonam any chance she gets, despite being constantly told off by the entire family. Like...why are you even here, lady? Gtfo.

Poonam soon finds out that she can never have biological children. She goes on a huge spiel about woman who can't bare children are incomplete, how God made her a defective woman who can't even do the one thing she was made to do, blah blah blah. I was rolling my eyes so hard at this point.

Suddenly, Ganga gets this genius idea to GIVE HER SON AWAY WITHOUT EVEN ASKING HER HUSBAND ABOUT IT FIRST. Because who cares about the father, it’s not like it’s his child too or something. Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK? What kind of mother gives her child away to her sister-in-law, just because the SIL is unable to have her own? A child this woman carried, gave birth to, and is the actual mother of. This isn't even about being selfless, it's a very cruel thing to do to a little baby. Madan comes home and Ganga tells him what she's done. And guess what this mf does? He cries tears of joy and thanks God for blessing him with such an amazing partner. BRO THAT'S YOUR SON, WHAT THE HELL? DO YOU NOT EVEN CARE A BIT ABOUT YOUR CHILD?

I can't even at this point. That's like me telling my sister "Hey, I can't have kids so give me your baby!" I'm sure there are many orphaned kids out there Sharad and Poonam could have adopted, buuuut THEY ALL GO ALONG WITH IT BECAUSE BHABHI IS SO PURE AND SELFLESS. Who cares how much trauma and confusion this kid will have when he's older, right?

Five whole ass years later (aka the very next scene), the kid, Suraj aka Munna, grows up into the whitest looking child I’ve ever seen. Sharad and Poonam are visiting the older couple when Suraj shows off his brand new, expensive video game. Ganga chastises Poonam for wasting money. She then asks Sharad to give her about 10-15,000 rupees so she can replace the temple floor with marble. Sharad casually says it's a waste of money and Ganga is FURIOUS. Literally, she takes this soooo personally. Oh, and to make matters worse, Suraj somehow wins the lottery. This makes Ganga lose her shit even more. 

That's when Bua starts to emotionally manipulate her by turning her against the family. Ganga starts acting like a huge bitch and even takes Suraj (her own son) away from Poonam and Sharad. Madan finds out and he’s angry. He tells her it's over, rips her mangalsutra off, and leaves with the kids. Ganga freaks out and starts destroying everything in sight. She tells Bua to fuck off, then injures herself and faints.

Madan arrives at Sharad-Poonam's house and tells them he's left his wife. Sharad's all, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? If you severed ties with your wife, then you've also broken our bond! Excuse me? Bros over hoes! They all quickly go back to the house where they find Ganga knocked out. After gaining consciousness, she apologizes to everyone and begs for their forgiveness. Of course, they instantly forgive her. Madan also arrives and takes her back, but I didn't bother to listen to whatever crap he had to say. Then everyone is happy again and the film ends.

THIS ENTIRE FAMILY NEEDS INTENSE THERAPY!!!

Govinda always plays the pure, holy, golden-hearted devar (younger brother/brother-in-law) in every single one of these campy family entertainers. I confess, these type of films are my guilty pleasure but sometimes they're too much. He played the same role in Bhabhi, another dumpster fire.

Meenakshi Seshadri is one of my favorite actresses, but she didn't have much to do except cry and look pretty. Reena Roy's bright green contacts were really distracting and Jeetendra was just there.

It didn't make sense how Ganga, who always told Bua to shut up, was suddenly so easily manipulated by her. And this was only about 30 minutes before the ending, so it made NO sense whatsoever. A more powerful actress like Aruna Irani or Bindu would have made this situation more believable.

The editing was terrible. We literally go from a scene where Suraj is a newborn baby to one where he's about a year old. And in that same scene, Madan comes back from a business trip...bro, how long were you gone? Outfits were repeated constantly. Reena Roy woke up and wore the same outfit/makeup/jewelry that she was sleeping in the night before. Some scenes end abruptly and random things happen which aren't mentioned again.

And now for the pros - the soundtrack was really good. I LOVED Bahot Jatate Ho & Mehndi Lagane Ki Raat. Those are such underrated gems.

While we understand that the plot of a film can be unreal, it certainly can't be illogical. For example, in movie Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, in one scene Jamuna(Meenakshi Seshadri) fell into deep ice pond, so immediately Ganga(Amitabh Bachchan) came to resue her.

He took her to an emty house, now Jamuna is about to lose her life, and Ganga has no first aid equipments. So the only solution to save her is to give her “Jisam ki Garmi"(to sleep naked with her).

By the way, Ganga ignored that he has a coat, sweater and a muffler. I won't be surprised if “Jisam ki Garmi" (body heat) can save us from corona. When talking about ridiculous action scenes in Bollywood movies, how can one not think of Salman Khan in Race 3. If you have watched the movie, you'd agree that the last few action sequences were absolutely baseless and mindless. The writers definitely left their brains home while writing the script of Race 3 and expected us to do the same while watching the film, too.

Well, many people respond that viewers are dumb and that lead to make producers to create dumb movies. Whatever may be the reason, there is definitely lack of visionary in perspective of art and cinema from the directors, producers and actors of the so called industry .

दोस्तों 80 और 90 के जमाने में बॉलीवुड की फेमस एक्ट्रेस रहीं मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि आज फिल्म जगत से काफी दूर हो चुकी हैं। 16 नवंबर 1963 को झारखंड के सिंदरी में जन्मीं मीनाक्षी शेषाद्री का असली नाम शशिकला शेषाद्रि है। मिनाक्षी ने अपने फिल्मी करियर में एक से बढ़कर एक फिल्में दी थीं और अपने अभिनय से लोगों के दिलों में खास जगह भी बनाई लेकिन शादी के बाद वह फिल्मी दुनिया से गायब हो गईं। उनके जन्मदिन के मौके पर आइए जानते हैं कि अब एक्ट्रेस क्या कर रही हैं? वह क्लासिकल डांस की 4 विधाओं भरतनाट्यम, कुचिपुड़ी, कत्थक और ओडिसी में ट्रेंड हैं।

साल 1981 में उन्होंने 17 साल की उम्र में मिस इंडिया का खिताब जीता था और फिर उसी साल टोक्यो में मिस इंटरनेशनल कॉन्टेस्ट के लिए भारत को रिप्रेजेंट किया। मीनाक्षी ने अपने फिल्मी करियर की शुरुआत साल 1983 में आई फिल्म पेंटर बाबू से की थी। लेकिन ये फिल्म नहीं चल सकी थी। इसके बाद उन्होंने सुभाष घई की फिल्म ‘हीरो’ में जैकी श्रॉफ के साथ काम किया। ये फिल्म जबरदस्त हिट हुई और मीनाक्षी रातों रात स्टार बन गईं। इस फिल्म के बाद मीनाक्षी ने फिर कभी पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा।

उन्होंने अपने करियर में कई बेहतरीन फिल्में दी और दर्शकों के दिलों पर राज करने लगीं। उन्होंने देव आनंद, अमिताभ बच्चन, संजय दत्त, मिथुन चक्रवाती, सनी देओल, अनिल कपूर जैसे सुपरस्टार्स के साथ फिल्में कीं। मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि अपनी पर्सनल लाइफ के लिए काफी सुर्खियों में रही थीं। उनका नाम सिंगर कुमार सानू और अंदाज अपना-अपना के डायरेक्टर राज कुमार संतोषी से  जुड़ा था। मीनाक्षी की फिल्म ‘जुर्म’ में कुमार सानू ने ‘जब कोई बात बिगड़ जाए..’ गाना गाया था। माना जाता है कि फिल्म के प्रीमियर शो के दौरान कुमार की मुलाकात मीनाक्षी से हुई और उनको देखते ही वह अपना दिल दे बैठे थे। कुमार सानू के तलाक की वजह से भी मीनाक्षी मानी जाती हैं।

मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि ने राज कुमार संतोषी के प्रपोजल को ठुकरा दिया था। इस बारे में राजकुमार संतोषी ने एक इंटरव्यू में कहा था- हां मैं उनसे प्यार करता था। मैंने उन्हें शादी के लिए प्रोपोज भी किया था, लेकिन उसने मुझे साफ इंकार कर दिया था। अपने करियर में कामयाबी के शिखर पर पहुंचने के बाद मीनाक्षी ने फिल्मों को अलविदा कह दिया था। साल 1995 में उन्होंने इन्वेस्टमेंट बैंकर हरीश मैसूर के साथ शादी कर ली थी। शादी के बाद वह अमेरिका के टेक्सास में जा कर बस गईं।

दोस्तों बॉलीवुड इंडस्ट्री में कई ऐसी अभिनेत्रियां थीं जिनकी खूबसूरती अभिनय के लाखो लोग आज भी दीवाने है। इनमे से कुछ अभिनेत्रियों को फिल्मों मे काम न मिलने के कारण बॉलीवुड इंडस्ट्री से दूर हो गई। तो कुछ अभिनेत्रियों ने शादी करने होने के बाद फिल्मो से दुरी बना ली। ऐसे आज आपको एक ऐसी ही अभिनेत्री के बारे में बता रहे है जिन्होंने शादी के बाद फिल्मो से दूरिया बना ली और आज अपने परिवार के साथ रहा रही है।

आपको बता दे की यहाँ जिस अभिनेत्री की बात हो रही है उस अभिनेत्री का नाम है मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि। बता दे की 80, 90 के दशक में मीनाक्षी टॉप की अभिनेत्रियों में शामिल थी। मीनाक्षी का जन्म 16 नवंबर, 1963 को धनबाद में हुआ था। बेसिक पढ़ाई लिखाई करने के बाद नृत्य में मन रम गया। चार तरह का इंडियन क्लासिकल डांस सीखा। भरतनाट्यम, कुचीपुड़ी, कत्थक और ओडिसी।पद्म भूषण वेम्पति चिन्ना सत्यम और गुरु जय रामा राव से नाच सीखा।

अभिनेत्री मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि ने 1981 में जब वह सिर्फ 17 साल की थी तब उन्होंने ‘Eve’s वीकली मिस इंडिया’ का खिताब जीता था उसी साल टोक्यो (जापान) में हुए ‘मिस इंटरनेशनल’ कॉन्टेस्ट के लिए भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व भी किया था। इसके बाद 1983 मे रिलीज हुई फिल्म ‘पेंटर बाबू’ से इन्होने बॉलीवुड में डेब्यू किया था। इस फिल्म के बाद उसी साल रिलीज हुई निर्माता-निर्देशक सुभाष घई की फिल्म ‘हीरो’ में नजर आई थी। इस फिल्म मे इनके साथ जैकी श्रॉफ लीड रोल मे थे। जो की उस समय की सुपर हिट फिल्मो में से एक है।

इस फिल्म के बाद अभिनेत्री मीनाक्षी शेषाद्रि ने कई सुपर हिट फिल्मो में काम किया और एक वक्त पर वो सबसे ज्यादा फीस लेने वाली एक्ट्रेस बन गई। आगे जाकर उन्होंने राजेश खन्ना, अनिल कपूर, ऋषि कपूर, सनी देओल, अमिताभ बच्चन, जीतेंद्र, रजनीकांत, संजय दत्त, वि��ोद खन्ना, मिथुन चक्रवर्ती यानी इंडस्ट्री के हर बड़े एक्टर के साथ काम किया।

बता दे की अभिनेत्री मीनाक्षी की आखिरी फिल्म राजकुमार संतोषी की घातक थी जिसमे वे सनी देओल के साथ नज़र आयी थी।इस फिल्म के बाद उन्होंने फिल्म जगत को अलविदा कह दिया था। 1995 में उन्होंने अमेरिका में बसे एक इनवेस्टमेंट बैंकर हरीश मैसूर से शादी कर ली। फिलहाल मीनाक्षी प्लानो, टेक्सास में रहती हैं और वहां डांस सीखाती हैं। उन्होंने टैक्सास में ‘चियरिश डांस स्कूल’ नामक कथक और क्लासिकल डांस स्कूल खोला है। ये डांस स्कूल काफी पॉपुलर भी है। बेटा जोश और बेटी केंद्रा भी वहीं साथ हैं, वहीं पढ़ाई कर रहे हैं।
