would regulus and evan bond over classic literature (franz kafka, fydor dostoevsky, mary shelly’s frankenstine, dracula?, sylvia plath?)

but no i think they would actually fight about it! to me, literature is a staple of pureblood education (ignoring the fact that muggle lit would be looked down on)... and infighting is so common among Book Enjoyers™️ that i cant see evan & reg being exempt!

i think regulus has very stuffy armchair taste in lit (pushkin, goethe, tolstoy, balzac) and prefers sweeping grandiosity and tragic romance in the 19th century. he's extremely classical. i see evan with more 20th century tastes — and he's a touch perverse. more cynical. i associate him with bataille, beckett, brecht, thomas mann, thomas hardy, the frankfurt school.

evan enjoys modernist experimentation with form (he's thumbing through Wallace Stevens with great pleasure, while regulus is reading like.... fucking Chaucer) and regulus finds it OVERBEARING. they're discussing classic lit in the great hall but they're at each other's fucking throats about it
