[id: three comic excerpts. The first, from Runaways, shows Xavin flying around the head of a Gibborim, trailing fire. The Gibborim says, “Unclean wretch! Earth is a sacred temple! What gives an outsider like you the right to sully our Holy Father’s planet?” Xavin replies, “I’m afraid your words are lost on me. Where I come from, we find religion obscenely boring.”
Second excerpt, from Runaways/Young Avengers Secret Invasion, shows an older Skrull in a patterned sleeveless robe standing at a pulpit addressing a small crowd of young Skrull in bodysuits. “Our people are scattered,” he says, “our homeworld shattered. Our end is near, it would seem. But there is hope, for those who would seek it. All our empire has known is conflict. War. This is our way now. But there is another way. There has come a savior.”
In the third, from the same, Teddy fights with a Skrull in a long cloak and a tiny bodysuit. Teddy says, “Hrrnn!! You... you know who I am. I am the son of princess Anelle, and of the Kree called Mar-Vell. It is my destiny to save the Skrull Empire. To unite our people.” The Skrull warrior yells, “You are nothing!” Teddy replies, “You know the prophecies. You have read them. But there is only one truith, and it is me. I was chosen by our God. He speaks to me. And he told me he does not love you.” The Skrull warrior pauses, unsure, and says, “What? No... that’s not---” end id]
I’m Sorry Xavin I Can’t Hear You Over Your Literal Royal Savior Cult.
