You know Hero Hei, it’s hard to feel sorry for you (or even try to be neutral towards you) when you’re still pulling the same manipulative bullshit.
Shocked face, overexaggerated title, contrasting colors, aggressive language- I’m pretty sure if Trump’s Political ads had thumbnails, they’d looked identical to yours (and I only say Trump because every other politician follows an older version of your formula.)
‘This is a follow-up to Neath Oum’s hitpiece on me-’
There you go again. Hit Piece is defined as a disingenuous article or similar such piece of media designed to turn public opinion against a person. Issue is- this is not a public article, it’s a fucking tweet thread and it’s not made to turn people against you (and consider the replies to his tweet, it wouldn’t even slightly change public opinion of you), it was made to explain why he doesn’t like you.
We can actually see how a hit piece would sound like IN YOUR VIDEO, as Neath forgoes a lot of the manipulative techniques you use in your videos to get an emotional reaction out of his audience before even beginning.
‘I have nothing but respect for Monty Oum-’
Your numerous videos slandering his friends when the man outright told people to stop watching his show for saying one of his friends was a lesser voice actor than two others in ONE instance says otherwise.
‘*insert a bunch of sarcastic stuff here*’
I wouldn’t bitch too much but this video is only 6 minutes and 13 seconds long and about half a minute passes without him saying of substance. And I’m keeping his shit vague because it’s meaningless and just meant to rile his audience up.
‘It won’t negatively affect me at all.’
Cool...and Neath is never shown to intend it too. Here’s the tweet thread that Hero Hei is talking but never sources (https://twitter.com/neath_oum/status/1307345624958812160). Not once does he ever say anything about exposing Hero Hei and ends it by reiterating it’s about explaining his blocking.
Also of note-
Because his lies exacerbate conflict or generate controversy where none existed
Neath says this in his chain. Now consider Hero Hei portraying this as an attack against him...when he never says to spread his thread, use manipulative language like you do or use the attention grapping tactics you do. And now you’re just proving him right when you could have stopped this 40+ second monologue, made a title like “I respond to Neath Oum’s Twitter Thread” and used a different thumbnail.
(Note: I am skipping from 0:37 to 1:22 because at 0:44 he says to skip that segment as it’s a catchup and I’m trying to give him some benefit so I’ll just skip it and assume he gave a neutral recap.)
‘He begins hyping this thread up and being really suspicious and vague about it!’
You mean like what people said about your original video on the subject which you dismissed and mocked them for?
To paraphrase you Hero Hei-
‘Read beyond the first sentence.’
‘In my opinion, this means nothing and so i will not comment on most of this.’
You mean opinion of the target of the so-called ‘hit piece’ who would have every reason to downplay what is being shown. After I having already seen for myself that you’re a damn liar and the very first part of the ‘hit piece’ is talking about how you lie by omission? You clearly do care because you made (an admittedly low effort) video on it and yet you can’t even address it properly? Speaking as someone who has had hit pieces made on him, you’re an idiot.
Also your ‘if you want to read the whole thing, you know where to find it!’ shit is inexcusable. It’s a known fact that audiences likely won’t seek out something that would discredit their subject. They’ll be far more likely to just accept whatever you say, especially if say...their emotions and tribalistic instincts were being played on by portraying Neath as inherently wrong and using emotionally charged language to elicit a certain reaction out of them.
“Most of this stuff is from a year ago anyways!’
Stuff which you yourself bring up before to make and support your points.
‘This isn’t really worth my time, it’s desperate.’
I have literally heard politicians pull this, how is everything out of your mouth killing your credibility?
‘*tries to portray Neath’s beginning statement as aggressive towards people asking for proof* Well I dunno why anyone would be upset you accused someone without proof but okay-’
A. ‘ Finished some stuff earlier than expected. For those who (civilly) asked for info and proof about hero hei, here you go.’
That is Neath’s opening sentence. This is not being aggressive or dismissive or at all negative towards the people asking for proof. I can’t think of a way to be more neutral than this.
B. Funny considering you accused Pedantic Romantic of being a stalker and yet never provided actual proof, just out of context screenshots (effectively lies which is WORSE.) So clearly you don’t care that much.
‘Funny that he says he found additional evidence about this when he retweeted a thread made a month ago by another twiiter user that I debunked in another vide Man this is some worthless stuff.’
Gee Hero Hei, I’ve noticed that you like to portray this as irrelevant without saying why, continuously using those kinds of terms. Kind of like news outlets when bitching about someone they don’t like, all using similar terminology as if to subconsciously reinforce an idea in the viewer’s head. Also funny since those same news outlets ALSO tend to rely on the reader’s bias...
‘See, he even admits that he’s taking this from someone I debunked!’
Well actually, you just pointed out one single mistake that wasn’t connected to their point but sure.
‘This is so lazy Neath!’
Hero hei, you literally just take what other people say and vomit it out- You do the same shit.
‘Animelog is by Toei actually!’
No Hero Hei, it’s not. Toei justed signed up for them. It’s still operated by AnalyzeLog...which is funded by Net 10 ventures, the company Neath CITED.
Benjamin Grubbs is the founder of AnalyzeLog. In 2018, AnalyzeLog was founded with seed funding from U.S. venture capitalist Next10 Ventures. In December 2019 AnalyzeLog Digital struck a deal with Toei Animation. Shogakukan followed Toei animation deal in April 2020, and just last month it signed a collaboration with animation studio Shin Ei Animation, creators of “Doraemon” and “Crayon Shin-Chan”.
‘He tries to compare Toei being a founder of Daisuki to it’s massive investment in AnalyzeLog!’
... Hero Hei. When you found something like a business, you are INVESTING in that business. Jeff Bezos fundamentally invested in Amazon when he started it up because he had to use his own money to make it happen.
... Do you think your audience is brain dead or something?
‘*covers Neath’s screenshot of his video titles*’
Hm, pretty sure that’s the definition of ‘suspect’ Hero Hei.
‘So this vice president of Rooster Teeth did horrible things to his wife and Neath is defending this or something-’
*grabs Hero Hei by the collar*
Nuh uh, you ain’t getting away with that shit.
First, short one about Rooster Teeth, the lies I am talking about were lies of omission. These screenshots show the titles of some of his videos. Titles and screenshots are what drives viewers when deciding what videos to watch. In the titles, he used "Rooster Teeth Vice President". Using "Rooster Teeth Vice President" evokes the image of the second highest ranking person at Rooster Teeth. However, he used "Vice President of Product and Engineering" in the video description, so he knew what the person's full rank was but omitted it from the titles. By seeing the actual rank, viewers would know that the terminated person was not the second highest ranked person at Rooster Teeth. Not including information in a title to give viewers the wrong impression amounts to lies of omission.
Some will argue that he didn't lie since the full rank was given in the description, it's just click bait and no big deal. That's fine but omitting information from the beginning warps first impressions and are still lies, even if small. That said, continue reading for more of his overt lies.
This is the full set of what he said in regards to RT. Notice something? Yeah- HE’S NOT DEFENDING THE MAN. Hero Hei just shoved that shit in. With NOTHING to indicate such a thing...you know other than ‘he dared to speak out against me!’
‘He seems to be complaining about the video title-’
TITLES (multiple) which comes up NUMEORUS times in his thread but sure. And you clearly agree with him since you bitched about his opening thread (just you know, effectively lying about it.)
‘*quotes an out of context sentence from the above quoted set* No I wasn’t trying tyo give people the wrong impression!’

Funny how context CHANGES things, like showcasing Hero Hei lying AGAIN.
‘I didn’t say that because Youtube has a 100 character limit for video titles so i couldn’t fit in!’
Yeah it does have 99 characters in it...
Except here’s the thing: you could have cut 33 characters from it even with inserting ‘of Product and Engineering’ easily.
Rooster Teeth RT Vice PRESIDENT VP of Product and Engineering ARRESTED, allegedly BEAT his WIFE Numerous Times and LAUGHED about it!
There, 66 characters and I made your video title better (by cutting out needless details) and more truthful.
I don’t trust you enough, especially with the shit you’ve already pulled in this video alone.
‘*mocks Neath for bringing up the Vic stuff from over a year ago*’
Hero hei, your channel has permanent ‘ISWV’ merch being advertised.
*doesn’t even bother to address what is said, just mocking the use of names.*
“Neath Oum s-said mean things about me mommy, make the scary man with 2/3rds of my audience stop mommy!’
See how stupid that sounds?
In fact, let’s stop here because he says NOTHING of worth and Hero hei killed his credibility (along with any chance of me even giving him anything beyond basic human respect) at this point.
Considering the very little he DID cover ended up being just shit flinging from him AT BEST- he actually made Neath look pretty damn good. Because HH in comparison really does look like the embodiment of that ‘crying behind a smug face’ meme.
So congrats HH. I actually though the comparison was the result of personal bias against you and felt uncomfortable about. I now see it was entirely DERSERVED...if I choose to ignore how you implied Neath was defending a man BEATING HIS WIFE because he pointed out your clickbait bullshit.

Why do you have to be me? Why do I have to be you?
The thing about being doubles-partners is that you have to share everything - thoughts, quirks, everything that you have that's related to your game. It means constant communication, observation and practice. It means that in the 24 hours you live through in a day - more than half of that is spent perfecting a partnership that should be nothing but beneficial to the team.
Especially for a team like Rikkai. Yanagi took up the extinct art of shorthand writing in order to perfect his own role as data master of Rikkai. He hones his nosy, observant manner not to annoy people but to do his job better.
See, Sanada is good at training people, Yukimura at inspiring, there's little to no room between that and the ground he walks on so he had to either make himself indispensable or leave. The immediate future does not matter: if tennis evades him, he can always look for a job over at TMZ. Another win for Doubles 1, Yanagi keeps jotting down notes. The thing about being doubles-partners is that you have to share everything.
The thing about Yagyuu is that he obviously finds sharing painful.
It's obvious to Yanagi that Yagyuu's thoughts, both personal and for public consumption are highly-compartmentalized. So it's also obvious to everyone on their team that their game is highly technical and less instinctual.
Yukimura and Sanada sees it, even Akaya says it, but it doesn't really matter now does it? As long as they keep winning. Rikkai's organizational set-up and synergy is not geared towards emotional self-improvement after all. It's all about winning. You can do the former in your own time, with little to no effect on the dynamics of the team preferably.
It's not a nursery, it's a battleground.
*
The thing about Niou is that he hates compartmentalized anything, he is liquid personified.
So when practice is over he approaches Yanagi and tells him that he's got a great plan for his and Yagyuu's game. Yanagi stops walking and looks at him, interested. Niou promises that it's going to be great and that it's going to make their game better and flow like water.
Picking up his pen, Yanagi starts taking down notes. Niou starts, opens with something that makes Yanagi's heart race just a little bit: It's going to involve a lot of fighting and stoning and tearing down walls.
*
On his way home - as he walks from the bus stop past the cherry wood park near his house, Yanagi thinks about what Niou said and how he is pivotal to Niou's plan in order to make it work. Of course what he meant when he said stoning and tearing down walls was Yagyuu's probable rejection of the whole thing. But it sounded feasible and cunning so he supports it, decides that it's worth sacrificing for. His heart races once more and he walks a little faster while texting Yagyuu to meet him the next day.
He feels important.
*
The next day, Yanagi meets his girlfriend an hour early than usual.
They drink flavored water at the park and wait up for Yagyuu. Yanagi's girlfriend is a year older and studies in an exclusive all-girl's school. He likes her because she is nothing like anyone he's known - he's always in danger of being pushed around by her so he's vigilant, same way as she is with him. It also helps that she's a great kisser and can get creative when it comes to intimate stuff.
They talk about seeing Inui one of these days, when/where their next tryst should be, both stop talking when they see Yagyuu approaching. Yanagi's girlfriend stays a few minutes more then leaves hurrying not to miss her bus. Both Rikkai players proceed to discuss Niou's plan. There is hesitance on Yagyuu's part but that's expected, that's why Yanagi's there to begin with. He walks Yagyuu through the process and the advantages of allowing that kind of game play to happen. Yagyuu reluctantly relents, ending with a question:
Why does he have to be me, why do I have to be him? Yanagi does not give him the standard answer, he gives him an honest one:
Yagyuu's giving Niou a hard time. They walk to school together, make a pit-stop at the gym so Yagyuu can say hi to one of the girls in the swimming team. Yanagi files it as information, she could possibly be Yagyuu's girlfriend. They are in the same class so they talk more about books and music until class begins.
* That afternoon Yanagi, Niou and Yagyuu practice this new move away from everyone else.
Getting clearance from Sanada was difficult so Yanagi makes sure that they make progress.
The technique itself requires the mastery of each of their moves as well as remembering every quirk the other has. Yanagi helps by taking notes and serving as the guiding voice and referee when fatigue and tempers start getting to the two players. It's not an easy job but he now considers this as a personal project.
IT BETTER WORK. *
Two weeks pass and after the latest practice session Yukimura calls for Yanagi, when Yanagi walks in the club room Yukimura is there calmly seated with Sanada standing beside him. It's like being faced with giants only Yanagi's egotistic enough to consider himself a titan so he isn't really intimidated. Yukimura questions: What's the progress on that technique you presented? Yanagi brings out his notebook and tells him like it is. Yukimura considers him a friend, so tells him that he wants to see it for himself before using it for a game.
*
The ultimate test subjects would have to be their respective girlfriends.
Side by side the ladies look at Yagyuu and Niou.
The ladies look at one another and shake their heads a bit.
The girl from the swimming team smiles and points at Niou: He has to be her Hiroshi-kun, he's taller than Masa-kun. Niou's girlfriend nods, she might not be a Rikkai student but she knows her boyfriend enough to know that Yagyuu's dressing up as Niou.
Niou (who is made up as Yagyuu) laughs and hi-fives her. The girl from the swim team finds it a little daunting to see 'Hiroshi-kun' act so carefree.
'Oh, are we dressing up for Halloween?” Yanagi's girlfriend walks up to the small group smiling at everyone. Yanagi is busy noting down important data and information, he looks up and smiles a little. He opens his eyes and is somewhat proud and bothered that his girlfriend can tell just by looking. He brings up his fist and his girlfriend promptly lands him a confident fist bump with an affectionate smile to go with it. The disguise is almost flawless, apart from their girlfriends knowing.
Guys don't really pay attention to other guys that closely unless there's something else going on. And Yanagi really wouldn't really know anything about that. Execution time of their signature moves is impeccable. It's more than good enough, it's almost perfect.
* The thing with Yukimura is that - almost perfect is not good enough. Niou and Yagyuu lose to Jackal and Marui during practice 7-6, even with this new technique and all the effort they put in they just weren't able to get that point in order to win.
Sanada disciplines them including Yanagi, the red hand prints on their cheeks stinging as they shower. Yagyuu is not happy, this is the first time that he's ever been disciplined, the first time he's lost since joining the team. They call their girlfriends and cancel their dates (refer to hand print incident) and decide to have a bachelor's dinner at McDonald's to make themselves feel better over milkshakes and fries. Yagyuu is first to suggest it - that they just ditch the plan, that they just go back to the way they are and keep winning. Again he throws the question at Niou: Why do I have to be you, why do you have to be me? Yanagi sits back and munches on his fries as Niou answers, explains around the straw he's chewing. It's interesting, it's creative, it's not boring in it's concept. It's not to militant like the rest of the other things in their school. It's goddamn fun. And that he's not going to throw it away just because he got slapped this one time. It's something they're doing together as a pair. It isn't compartmentalized at all. Yanagi thinks he does not have to play referee tonight.
*
Yukimura gives them an ultimatum; if they lose to Doubles 2 tomorrow, they will scrap that move and go back to their proven and effective formulas. Niou and Yagyuu stay silent and agree to that while Yanagi is the one vocal enough to thank Yukimura and say that Double 1 won't fail a second time. Niou and Yagyuu leave. Yanagi stays behind. Yukimura observes: You are rooting for them. Yanagi says: That's quite obvious. He smiles. He cannot wait to graduate. Then he runs out to follow Doubles 1 so they can perfect and nail this move once and for all.
* That night Yanagi is honest enough to admit to himself that he's nervous for Doubles 1. After dinner he is happy to get messages from both Yagyuu and Niou saying that they too are nervous, said in varying themes of course.
Yanagi gets a call from his girlfriend, he tells her his dilemma and she offers to comfort him. Yanagi accepts, they do it in his late grandfather's library under the guise of studying. She calms him. And he thinks that her mouth is divine.
*
Next day, Doubles 1 and Doubles 2 are locked in a tie that's gone over three times and back. Deadlock at 7-7. It's not about winning to Yanagi anymore, just seeing that Niou and Yagyuu are fighting tooth and nail for this is enough. That they have evolved from just winning to striving for a singular goal. There is no division between them as doubles-partners and the process isn't so painful for Yagyuu. It's rare for Yanagi to crouch, to react, to cheer on every shot. Other players look at him. He aptly ignores. Yukimura stops the game after the fourth tie and tells Yanagi to go with him to the club room. The verdict is identical to Yukimura's ultimatum but Yanagi fights him on this decision. He reasons that Rikkai will be able to practice and perfect this move as they face team after team on their way
to Nationals. He looks at him and does not back down. Yukimura does not like it at all. The thing about Sanada is that - Yukimura's his god but Yanagi's his friend.
And he sees Yanagi's point and even if Yukimura's already decided he tries to reason around it. He cannot see the heart of the matter but he can at least understand Yanagi. Yukimura eventually relents, but this only means heavier consequences for Doubles 1 from now on. He will watch them closer, train them harder, criticize them more all for improvement and winning. This is part of the fun for Yukimura. This is his music and they have to dance to it or have nothing to do with the team at all.
*
"How's it gonna be?" Niou asks as he watches Yanagi walk out from the club room wearing that calm face of his. "You have permission to keep using it." Yanagi says. A moment before Niou starts running around and laughing and jumping "OH MY GOD!" Yagyuu remains calm and shakes Yanagi's hand. "This only means he'll be keener and will watch you guys closer. That's not always a good thing when Seiichi's involved." Yanagi says lightly. "I know! I know! But Buchou said YES!" Niou grins and falls on the ground in mock fatigue "I need sex." Yanagi looks at Niou and shakes his head, he looks at Yagyuu. "I need some water-" The Gentleman says feigning innocence. But he's not fooling Niou or Yanagi.
Yagyuu coughs lightly as they begin to walk to the lockers "Okay, okay...and a swim." As if he'd let peer pressure and fatigue force him to say weird things like 'sex' in public.

So for my new years resolution I decided that this year I was going to read 52 books, e.g. one a week. Also that I would only count books that I was reading for the first time (so i don’t just reread night watch 52 times) and that I was going to try and read outside my comfort zone.
As you can see, January’s went pretty well. (badly written ramblings under the cut)
What I read this month (in chronological order)
Red Seas under Red Skies: Honestly I expected to finish this before the new year, but family (amongst other things) meant that I put it off and finished it on the 5th instead. However, even though I took a gap in the middle of reading, rsurs still stood out to me as a very good book, and i’m glad it was the first thing I finished this year (even though it ended on a massive cliffhanger, what the hell?!, but i’m getting republic of thieves soon so I’ll see how that turns out.)
I loved the lies of Locke Lamora when I first read it, and honestly the second book lives up to that. Locke Lamora himself continues to be in equal parts amusing as hell and a little shit (I think anyone who knows me shouldn’t be surprised that he’s my fave character) but I also liked Jean a lot (more) in this book, especially because he’s a supporting character on his own rather than being one of several gentleman bastards. I do like that he gets a fair few standalone moments in this book.
what I will say is that rsurs has a feel that the author just put stuff in because he felt like it (e.g. the actual seas part comes in quite a while into the book and kinda out of nowhere) but I love pirate stuff so honestly I don’t mind, and seeing Locke and Jean with absolutely no idea what they’re doing is hilarious. Also bonus points for Zamira Drakasha who is fantastic, Ezri who is tiny and intimidating (something I appreciate because I’m the former but not the latter) and gratuitous cats, which I could never argue with (though I don’t think I would be able to get any of my cats aboard a ship).
I am Malala: So I decided to spend this month finally getting round to reading books I have had for ages, and I am Malala is the first of those. (I think I might have got it as a present one or two years ago). Anyways, I found it in my newly regained stash of childhood books (long story short they were in a crate in a cupboard behind several other cupboards and I wasn’t allowed to touch them, but I am now).
Should I talk about the actual book now?
So Malala Yousafzai is someone I’ve admired for a long time, for obvious reasons. She’s only a couple of years older than me, and I think that makes me appreciate her strength even more, because it’s easier for me to compare to my own(I am really not a strong willed person :/). That was one of the things that stood out to me about the book, that Malala obviously had such courage to continue with her life, and while she was supported by her family, ultimately she had to make these very tough decisions and choose between her safety and the education which she valued. Throughout the book, she keeps on choosing the latter, even whilst her ability to access it diminishes. It’s very powerful to read about, and while I like to hope that I would make that same choice in the same situation, I’m not sure if I would be brave enough to. The other thing about this book is that there is a genuine love for her home in the swat valley, which makes it all the more painful when the Yousafzai family eventually have to leave. All in all that’s a constant in this book, that the things that are beautiful and worthwhile are still beautiful and worthwhile, even while the taliban attempt to destroy them, and that one day the taliban will be gone, and they will be beautiful and worthwhile still.
I’m really glad I finally got round to reading this book. I very rarely like biographies, but I am Malala told a very painful story of endurance against evil, and I regret not reading it earlier.
Mother Courage and her Children: In general, I really enjoy reading plays for a couple of reasons. First of all, they’re usually pretty short, and you can read them in a couple of hours and still get a really engaging story in that time (while I do have a soft spot for ridiculously long fantasy novels, I can’t read them all the time, we all need a break sometimes.) The second reason is that if you read them aloud, plays gain an extra (let’s call it a) dimension to them that books usually don’t have. MCahC isn’t an exception to this, and if you’re not self-conscious I would recommend reading it out loud.
As for the play itself, it’s a classic, and I’m not sure I can say anything much that smarter people than me haven’t said before. I’ll try anyways though.
I’m always interested in reading stories that are pacifist in nature, but focus on people who are invested in war. There’s definitely an interesting juxtaposition between how mother courage continues to profit and benefit from the war, whilst at the same time suffering at it’s hands and losing her family to it. It’s kinda inevitable that her family is ruined by it, but at the same time she stays close. You could argue that she has little choice (after all, there’s a war on, where else is she going to get paid) but nevertheless I found myself wishing in a futile way that Kattrin would escape and live. (spoilers: she doesn’t.) It’s a play that’s much more interested in talking themes then telling a straight story, and the themes are just grim.
Also I went on the wiki page for this book and apparently the MCR song “mama” was based on this play and I don’t even know how to feel about that.
The Railway Detective, book 1-->5: So, I’ve been interested in these books for a while now, mostly because I have a couple of niche book interests which are rarely indulged.
1. I really like history mysteries and
2. I think trains are cool (insert asdf joke).
As a result I’ve been kinda nosing around these books whenever I see them, but nothing ever convinced me to read them. That is, until just before christmas I was waiting to see tlj with a friend, and I was on the charity shop trawl. And there I found them. The first 5 books in a neat little cardboard box set. For £2. Which was the real push I needed to buy them (after all, I could never afford them new, I don’t have £40 to spend on anything, let alone books.)
They’re relatively short and easy to read, at least compared to a lot of the dense stuff I usually go for. Personally, I really liked them, and I might well reread one or two at some point (most likely the 3rd book “the railway viaduct” which was my fave. There’s nothing that revolutionary in them, you have your standard detective + sergeant, a series of historical characters including the perpetual Victorian favorites of pickpockets, thugs, lords, industrialists etc, a pretty love interest and her overbearing father. Normal stuff. But I think sometimes I need something a bit formulaic (and to be fair, the mysteries themselves are decent enough and can keep you guessing when they want to). Ironically enough, I think the best place to read these is whilst you’re on a bus or a train. (My 2 hour daily bus journey is definitely how I got through all 5 of them).
All in all, I wouldn’t 100% recommend buying them, unless you’re super into history mysteries or have a lot more disposable cash than I do. But if you find them second hand or in a library then they’re worth checking out.
