Old Man Seph au. Sephiroth outliving all his tormentors and still being stuck with Shinra. I don't know how I feel about that.

Sephiroth still physically gorgeous, still physically formidable in battle. But too old and mentally exhausted to adapt to a changing world. He'll be a hundred next week, stuck in the same set of circumstances that birthed him, forbidden from retiring since he's still capable of fighting. His friends are gone. His life has stretched out far beyond its limit thanks to the Jenova cells and he still has eternity waiting for him.

President Shinra is dead. But more importantly HOJO is dead. And while Sephiroth is glad for that, he's also completely directionless now. Hojo was the only person he ever truly wanted to kill.

And Hojo was the only thing he had.

He fights. He's worshipped by the public. He goes through the motions for another fifty or sixty years, fully aware that something about himself was NEVER normal just as much as it was never allowed to be free. Just as he was never allowed to be a child. And he never will be one ever again--he'll just continue. Endure. Stretch himself even longer, fill the wasted years with the unhappy bitterness of his continued existence.

He's tired.

He wants his mother.

He wants to go home.

But this IS home. The only one he's ever known.

And there's no escape. This is forever.
