Going Crazy - Ben Chilwell

Who: Ben Chilwell Prompt: "You're not going anywhere. Go back to bed." Notes with request: Maybe it’s Ben x reader and it’s the reader telling him to stay in bed while he’s injured right before the World Cup? Requested by: anonymous Warnings: mentions of injury, feeling down

You knew how hard Ben took sustaining a new injury so close to the World Cup. Everyone, and most of all Ben himself, knew there was no way he would be healed in time to make the England squad anymore. Thus, effectively crushing his dreams of going to the World Cup for his country.

Yesterday, a scan revealed Ben had done significant damage to his hamstring, and should keep complete rest for at least the coming week.

"Babe..." You sighed as you saw Ben limping painfully through the house for the dozenth time today. "I can't do this." Ben sadly shook his head, close to tears. "I'm going crazy! I need to go out, I need to do something else than watch TV all day. All they're ever talking about right now is the World Cup anyway, like they're rubbing my face in it that I won't be going there!" He winced loudly when, in his desperation, a too fast movement angered his injured hamstring.

It hurt you to see Ben like this. You wished nothing more for him than to be healthy and feel happy again, but the only way to get that was if he kept complete rest and gave the injury time to heal.

"Oh, sweetie..." You wrapped your arms around him, careful not to disturb his wobbly balance on his injured leg. "I'm sorry to say, but you're not going anywhere. Go back to bed, we'll figure something out to kill the time." Ben mumbled something incomprehensibly under his breath, but finally nodded his head.

Some ten minutes later you stepped into your bedroom. Ben sat in bed, looking lost and sad.

"I've got something to keep us busy for a while." You grinned as you held up a box with the board game Monopoly. A slow smile crept up on Ben's face. "You know I always win at that, right?" You chuckled teasingly. "Prove it."

Ben's whole demeanor changed at the foresight of spending the afternoon playing Monopoly with you, and suddenly you saw a glimpse again of the happy, bubbly man you knew so well and loved. This new injury wasn't easy on him, but you were sure that you would get through this together. Just like you had done before, and just like you would do again this time.

It had been another easy win for Liverpool today. Both Andy and Trent had excelled once again, each with yet another assist under their belts. "Good game, laddie." Andy said to Trent by way of greeting, when Trent flopped down in the seat next to him on the bus. They were facing a two-hour bus ride back to Liverpool. "Yeah, you, too." Trent flashed a smile. "What was that? Assist 101 and 102 among the both of us?" "I believe so, yes," Andy smirked proudly. Even though it had been an outstanding match for Liverpool, Trent felt exhausted. It was the good kind of tired, but tired nonetheless. Andy could see the tiredness in all of Trent's features, and he wasn't surprised to find Trent snoozing not even five minutes into the bus ride. Andy smiled to himself as he saw his sleeping friend, before continuing to watch a movie on his phone. Some fifteen minutes later, Andy was distracted from his movie when Trent's head slowly lolled onto his shoulder. He expected Trent to jolt awake and mumble an embarrassed apology, but none of it all. Trent slept on soundly without even the slightest disturbance. Andy quietly smiled to himself. He had seen how tired Trent was after the match and gladly granted him this nap. The fuzz of Trent's hair slightly tickled Andy's neck and the exhales of Trent's slow, deep breaths were warm on Andy's shoulder, but he didn't mind. He let Trent sleep, with his head resting on Andy's shoulder, and continued watching the movie on his phone. ----------- "Trentski?" Andy gently nudged Trent. "Wake up, sleepyhead." They were nearing Liverpool's training center, their final destination, but Trent was still sleeping like a baby. Trent stirred, sleepily opening his eyes. It took him a few seconds to realize in what position he had been napping. "Shit." Trent jolted upright, moving away from Andy. "I'm sorry about that. Why didn't you push me off?" "Why should I?" Andy chuckled mockingly. "You slept so sweetly. And I even got a nice selfie of us." Andy showed the selfie he had taken while Trent slept with his head on Andy's shoulder. "Nice," Trent grumbled, "you're never going to let me forget this, right?" "We'll see," Andy smirked, "but, no, honestly, it's alright. I didn't mind." Trent looked a little flustered. "Good to know, but I'm a bit embarrassed by it." "Hey," Andy soothed, "I'm you're friend. You don't ever have to feel embarrassed around me." "Thanks." Trent smiled crookedly. "And I have to admit: it was a good nap."
