had this random fic idea where enid and wednesday would keep running into each other in the middle of the night (it would be an au no powers or anything just them in a small town or something). like wednesday is of course out doing usual wednesday things but enid is out there cause she can't sleep and goes for runs or got into and argument with her mom again and she's just out there wandering and it becomes a thing, i've always had the head canon that enid is afraid of the dark but this would be diff idk where i was going with this but i'm gonna dwell on it lol
#maybe enid wouldn't be afraid of the dark in this one#wednesday saying what are you doing out here it's dangerous or something idk#maybe it's a 5+1 idk#me ranting when I should be WRITING ! lmao

They overhear you saying you like them
Wednesday: It sounded alot better in your head when you said you needed to speak with Bianca about something, and granted you should've thought through the whole finally telling someone your crush on the goth girl out in the open but you weren't really thinking especially since the dark haired girl had occupied your thoughts more than you'd own up too. Leaning against a wall as you spoke about everything and asked how you should go about it looking any kind of advice you could realistically use all while not noticing the short girl was around the corner listening intently and knew she'd have to act cruel towards you so you could move on.
Enid: Knowing you shouldn't have been but you wanted an unbiased opinion, As you spoke with Wednesday about the feelings you held in high regard for Enid no matter how often the smaller girl stated she didn't care or that you should leave her alone she continued to be around when you opened your mouth to talk. Granted you should've known Wednesday wouldn't lie for you or get Enid to look the opposite way but you never thought Wednesday would make you talk as she planned out the time so Enid would come up around you two and listen to what you had said.
Xaiver: Extremely flattered and flustered, then would probably think about it for weeks on end to be honest. It would be really nice to know that you had such an interest in him to the point that you would crush on an idea of him in your head (if that makes sense) and even vent the end to get it out even if not to him at first. If he was attracted to you too, then he would try to pursue it to some extent. It would make him feel really good that he was appreciated in that way.
Rowan: You spoke to your best friend Ajax about your crush on Rowan and wondered how you should go about it telling him at least maybe you would, letting out a sigh as you listened to Ajax try to help you out but didn’t want to hear from one more person “Just tell him” since that was the last option you wanted to hear then looked up at your friend as he spoke but soon grinned seeing Rowan walk up behind you and made a quick motion for him to stay quiet as you kept talking.
Tyler: If he did overhear you saying you like him, his immediate reaction would probably be of surprise and confusion. Then, he would probably feel a combination of feelings, including excitement, pleasure, and embarrassment. He might also feel a little anxious, not wanting to disappoint you or feel pressured to reciprocate your feelings right away. But ultimately, he would be happy that you liked him and flattered by the fact that you were brave enough to say it out loud even if not to him when he first heard you liking him.
Ajax: Wouldn't be able to contain his excitement and would probably smile broadly and blush a lot from all that positive attention he just got to hear from your own mouth. His not afraid to show people that he likes you and would feel very flattered and excited that you felt the same way. He believes life is all about the good moments and positive connections so to know that someone felt the same way would be so encouraging for him.
Bianca: Walking towards the dorms with your friend Yoko who only sighed dramatically as she listened to you whine about your crush on the lady siren you've had your eye on since you've started Nevermore, rambling on and on as you got into your own head as Yoko only nodded along before smirking to herself as she saw Bianca then asked you what you thought of her only to listen to you say "She's magical not just because of her gift as a siren but every move she makes, How gorgeous she looks in any lighting dressed up or down on whatever she chooses to wear, How lost I can get in her eyes or do anything to see her bright smile" Yoko placed her hand down on your shoulder as you kept talking which made you look over at the grinning vamp only to see her motion her head to the side as you finally saw Bianca who had been listening to you practically spit out a love confession.

Halloween 2023 - Day 3 - Censor (2021)
It's for your own good...
Following on from the veritable blood bath that was Terrifier, it's perhaps fitting that we now move on to a movie set at the height of the so called 'video nasty' craze of 1980's Britain and centers around a young woman working for the BBFC in their ongoing efforts to cleanse the depravity from those ghastly filmakers. A montage of various titles play, the only one that stands out to me is Driller Killer which I only know by name. And hey, it's a local film too! Filmed in Leeds and Bradford, apparently some people do want to get there quicker.
The true video nasty on show here though is a shot of Mary Whitehouse and, speaking of the Tories, we even get footage of Maggie Thatcher and her ongoing tirades against industrial action. A Tory government being against worker strikes, glad those days are behind us… I think the only video nasty I've seen is I Spit on your Grave and that was years ago. But my gosh, what a list this thing is, I could dedicate a whole month to this thing!
The Beast in Heat Gestapo's Last Orgy Mardi Gras Massacre Night of the Bloody Apes SS Experiment Camp The Werewolf and the Yeti And, needless to say, the word 'Cannibal' comes up several times. Still not convinced myself to see Cannibal Holocaust… Say what you will about the whole thing, I imagine there were times when cuts or bans were just and others where they were massive overreactions but dubbing the things 'video nasties' seems like it would only create more publicity around these titles and increase demand. Whilst it might seem odd to work towards circumstances that would lead to the limitation of sale on your own work, it wouldn't surprise me if people viewed being added to this list as a badge of honour. You're almost handing people a ready made watchlist of all the most extreme movies possible. I forget where I saw mention of this film or how it came to be on my watch list but the cover art especially put me in mind of some sort of comedy horror where a censor is driven over the edge by watching these films all day, every day, and goes on a rampage of their own. Which, in some small part is probably right but the way it's done is right up my street.
The film centers around Enid and her work at the BBFC which she sees as a moral crusade of sorts, it's her job to save the viewing public from possibly seeing this sick filth and she is not afraid of doing her own hatchet job by butchering these movies in the name of righteousness. But we slowly learn that there are skeletons within Enid's closet and the dark tail of a missing sister who disappeared at a young age when the two were out playing together. All these years later, her parents want to put the whole thing behind them by declaring the sister, Nina, legally dead but Enid isn't prepared to just give up like this.
The movie really builds up this sense of mystery by creating an in universe controversy surrounding a murder that takes place said to be inspired by a video nasty that Enid approved, leading to her being hounded by the press and obscene phone calls after someone seemingly 'leaks' her involvement. When all these other things start happening, it does make you question if there is some darker force at work or if Enid is hiding something. Maybe he own mind is building walls to protect her from the truth, drawing inspiration from the films she sits through each day to build a narrative that helps her explain away what happened to Nina. Even something as innocent as the parents getting the death certificate for the sister, which is a reasonable thing to do in the circumstances and it gives them some small measure of closer, can suddenly be seen in a different light. When they start shutting down any of Enid's talk about possibly finding Nina it can almost feel a little bit like what are they hiding?
With it already carrying such an oppressive tone, the movie only enhances it with an ominous musical score throughout and the dark visuals, be it Enid's dingy offices or the underpasses and alleyways that Enid makes her way through so often, with each journey back and forth her face growing more ashen as she struggles under the weight of this conspiracy playing out in front of her. It puts me in mind of something Cronenberg-esque with the visuals (minus the body horror) and overall vibe, Videodrome especially with the use of media compelling someone down a rabbit hole. I really dig the subversion of sorts on the whole 'video nasty inspiration' idea, rather than just do a straight up story about someone being a copy cat killer of what they've seen on screen, this delves into it on a deeper level and from a different angle. For all that the whole video nasty thing put the idea out there that movies lead to all these deranged real life killers, something that pretty much every artistic medium seems to go through at one time or another, here they just amplified an already exisiting problem that was present in Enid's psyche. To paraphrase: grief loaded the gun, violent movies pulled the trigger.

Episode 5 of Wednesday.
⚠️ Warning for spoilers if you still haven't watched the show ⚠️
First and foremost, Eugene is alive! Thank God! I got used to him pretty quickly. He's still a little cringe-y, but adorkable anyway. And I kind of see why he reminds Wednesday of her brother. Also, I mentioned this before, but I'm probably not going to stop anytime soon - Wednesday may have a pretty dark outlook on life and bad social skills, but she's a kind soul. She's worried for Eugene, visits him and even looks out for his bees.
The murderous secret of Addams' family is finally revealed. Her dad isn't guilty. I'm not sure how to feel about it: I'm both happy and a little disappointed... 🤔
Wednesday and her mom kind of patched things up, which I like. I also like to see how she loves her family - she knew her parents won't be good without each other and she set her "beast investigation" aside to help them, she cheered her brother up, she lets her family to hug and kiss her even when she feels uncomfortable with displays of affection. And the goodbye scene with her mom was amazing. Maybe it's just me, but it seemed like a compromise. How Wednesday made a step forward, came closer. And how Morticia kissed the air and not her cheeks. Oh, and I really liked the therapy scene. Maybe it's just me, but I think it was hilarious! 😂
Enid's mother is a bitch. Both literally and figuratively. And the words "conversion therapy" and "conversion camp" made me a little sick... I'm glad her dad (he seems like really nice, but very sad and tiered man) is supportive and that she stood up for herself. I like her more with every episode: she's not only beautiful, but also strong and smart (though she's still a teenager, who makes some dramatic decisions - like taking a guy, who hates outcasts doesn't like outcasts very much, to prom in the school of outcasts)
Bianca. I'm starting to feel more and more sympathetic for her. Her mother is as bad as Enid's (maybe even worse); she has to do what she doesn't want to, so her secret stay safe (apparently she "sirened" her way into the school. Why wasn't she even accepted in the first place?); she can never fully trust people around her, because she's afraid she's influencing them with her magic (at least with Wednesday she can be sure that there's no influencing - the feeling of unlike is mutual and very much real 😄)...
The principal is a shape-shifter! It was her who pretended to be Rowan - I got that right! Also, how does she know about him trying to kill Wednesday twice?.. I don't remember Wednesday telling her (or anyone who could tell her) this... I mean, yes, she told "Rowan" that he tried to kill her in the woods, but about gargoyle..? (Unless Xavier told her, which I'm pretty sure he wouldn't) Hmmm... Stalkerish much? 🧐
"Fire will rain"? A threat? A riddle? A clue? All of this together? Intriguing ending of the episode, for sure. And there's also a new question: did doctor really killed himself or was it someone else? Someone trying to get a revenge or someone trying to interfere with the "beast investigation"? Maybe a human who's also a beast really was trying to distract everyone from themselves?
As for suspects - I have a new one! Kind of. Because the more I think about it - the more ridiculous and far-fetched it seems. But I still going to consider it, because I have only one other option, even if I don't really want Tyler to be a killer. So... What if the Garret's supposedly drowned sister isn't really drowned and is the monster who's doing this now? There was a cave where someone kept the beast as human, until it ran away (as I see it) and now it's killing people in the woods. What if Mr. Gates, who hated outcasts, find out that his daughter was one of them and locked her in this cave and told everyone that she drowned? And when he died she managed to escape and started killing people? And mayor, who could've known about this, was trying to cover the traces and burnt the cave? Or maybe it's someone else there with similar story: someone's kid appears to be a supernatural creature and a parent locks them in a cave and then it manages to escape and starts killing everyone and the parent burns the cave so that there is no (or at least, less) evidence...
Or maybe it's just my vivid imagination 😂 Too bad I'm not a writer - I have all this detailed ideas, and thoughts, and images in my head. But when it comes to putting it together as a story... Nope. Nothing is working. I'm not going to give up, though. Maybe one day I'll manage to write some finished story 😃 Maybe this - writing my thoughts down - is going to help? I hope so.
#using tumblr as my diary again#I apologise to everyone who I'm subjecting to this waterfall of thoughts#good thing I only have like 10 followers... 😂 you are the ones who likely has to deal with it#wednesday addams#wednesday#thoughts on wednesday
